Great professor! Not conventional and has an effective teaching method. Helps you with work and gives plenty of opportunity to improve your grade. Awesome and highly recommended! Best math teacher I've taken at FIU!
Awesome teacher! she is very helpful and goes out of her way to help you. Everyone needs to take her
Shivanni is a great professor! She gets nervous at times during lectures but it's kind of cute and funny. She does everything she can to help you pass. Reviews in class and on MyLab before exams cover all of the material that will be on the test. Provides lots of help during her office hours. Overall great professor, pleasure to take her class.
I absolutely suck at math and this professor helped me so much. she is the most caring, and helpful professors. She explains everything so well, helps a lot in office hours and genuinely cares about her students. Precal is not easy, you must study and do the hw and quizzes!!! they make a huge difference in your final grade. overall i say TAKE HER!
She is by far the best math professors i have ever met! She cares about her students and is always willing to help! I had to take the class twice because of problems and home and both times i had her. With hard work and her help i got a 98 in the class! She is amazing!
Wonderful professor. She teaches very clearly and takes her time to answer questions. Always does the problems with the students and explains every step. Even the obvious ones if you ask her to. Always cheerful and happy! She made College Algebra understandable and fun. Recommend her 100%.
She is great.. Math is not my strong subject but she taught it so well and helped us understand. She is entertaining, nice, and smart! Must take her class!
She is the one of the sweetest, most responsible professors I ever had the pleasure of taking! Her explanations are very easy to follow through. Best math professor at FIU. I recommend her 100%!
She is amazing! Super nice and definitely there for you. Her lectures are clear and sometimes you can get bored but you will need the lecture to pass. Take her! If you want an A with her you will get it but you have to try.
She is the sweetest teacher I have met. Attend class, it will help you, she is easy but you need put in the work, going to the tutoring will help you ace the class. grading is clear, study for the first exams and get good grades so you can afford to fail the last two and the final which arent that bad. REVIEWS ARE ALMOST THE SAME AS TEST! i recomme
She is the sweetest professor. If you go to her office hours she will help you. As long as you do all the assignments on Mylabplus and study for the test, you'll pass!
She is very helpful and really care for students, very clear lectures and methods.
shes good at what she does and you will see that. She likes teaching more directly to students during labs. You will only meet once per week. You will be required to take a Math gym, which will be like another class. She is very helpful in resolving all issues with mylabsplus which you will need, in order to take Quiz, test, and HW.
You meet once a week for 50 minutes, then every week you have math gym for 1hr, and 3 hours of math lab, the majority of your test is exams and the final, make sure you study for the exams and youll be fine, easy to get a B, for an A make sure you take advantage of all the points
She is an amazing teacher. She makes subjects easy to understand and makes you have a fun time too. If you have any questions don't be afraid and ask her. She is always there if you need anything. One time I was not able to go to class and I e-mailed her that morning. At night she sent me all the notes for that lesson! TAKE HER!
Best professor ive ever had. super nice and she makes sure that everyone understands her during lecture. shes always there if you need help.
She's the sweetest teacher ever! She'll do whatever she can to help you learn. She's funny & she explains everything so well, she actually makes math enjoyable & understandable. I used to be HORRIBLE at math and I ended up with an A- with her. I LOVE HER!!! TAKE HER! DO IT!
She is such a good professor who truly cares about her students. Her practice worksheets are very similar to the exam. She is also very fair when it comes to the content on the exam. Great teacher for pre calc, I would take her again. Take her.
Very good teacher. Very helpful. Goes above and beyond. She prepares packets to help you study and make memorizing the material easier. Really good teacher if math is not your best subject. Best chance for success by taking her
She's a great professor. Always offering to help outside of class. Tests are annoying only because there are 7 questions for a 50 minute class, so one wrong and you have a B (not her fault though). She explains well, so definitely take her.
Great professor who is always available to help. Expect online hwk! Not bad at all as long as you take notes
Professor Jagessar is a beyond amazing math Professor. She really cares about her students and is very accessible outside of class. She provides reviews for her tests which are extremely helpful and she is beyond willing to work with you throughout the semester. If you take her, take advantage of her office hours because they are really helpful.
Shivanni will go out of her way to help you. She isn't condescending like other math professors. She gives you packets with test questions. If you are able to do those, you should do well. I got As on all the tests. She has extra points on the test and grades out of 100. (107/100). Only annoying thing is mylabsplus. Not her fault. Great teacher!
Hands down best math teacher I had! She really explains lessons in a very simple way in order for everyone to understand. Take her and you will not be disappointed at all!
Professor Jagessar is adorable. She's quirky, humorous, approachable and very caring as she tries to ensure that all of her students are on track with understanding the content she covers in class. This class should be an easy A as long as you attend class and apply yourself: do the homework and quizzes and don't be afraid to open the textbook.
Professor Jagessar is one of the best math professors I have ever had! She truly cares about each and every single one of her students and wants them all to pass and explains the material in a clear and thorough manner. Attend class, ask her questions, pay attention, and you'll be perfectly fine. I would recommend Professor Jagessar to anyone!
SUPER SWEET, this course is mainly done in the lab there is homework due every week and quizzes along with them, but that is the course not teachers choice, she is actually kinda funny and she will help you when you need it.
Great instructor, however I feel every math teacher for 1105 is about the same. Her class is only 50 minutes every week, she cancels every other class and pushes class back on test weeks. Great class if you want a quick lesson. Lots of homework but very organized.
Professor Jagessar is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. She has an abundance of energy during class and always stops to ask if you understand the info. She's very considerate, replies to emails fast, and stays after class forever to answer questions. She's the best!!!
she's honestly the best professor ive had at fiu. she goes above and beyond to help students outside of class. i failed the first test and i went to the departmental review and did the study guide myself. however for the next four and final i met with shivanni at the math lab where she helped me do the study guides and i passed them all! l love her
When taking MAC1105 the stigma that you can plug in any professor at MMC holds true. All professors are the same and basically turn the class into one that is online due to the 3 hr mandatory lab per week. You have one class per week with your professor and another with a math gym LA. Get ready to put in a ton of work, 16 HW's, 20 quizzes, 6 tests.
For any Mac 1105 class in FIU you will have homework and quizzes every week, plus math lab &math gym, but thats bc of the department. Be prepared to put a lot of work into this class to get an A. However, she is the absolute BEST professor, teaches well, & really cares about her students. TAKE HER.
I'm not the best at math but her teaching is clear and she wants you to understand what is taught and most times we only met once a week. For this class there are three parts every week; math gym 1 hour, class 1 hour, and math lab 3 hours . The worst thing was the amount of math lab homework (30-70 questions some with 2-11 steps). Dont buy the book
I am grateful to have had her as a professor! She's super nice and really aims to prepare you, especially if you plan to take Pre-Calculus the next semester. Also, though the syallbus looks overwhelming, when you break it into parts, it's not that bad. As a freshman, this was the most demanding course I had, but you'll pass with time and effort.
Shivanni was one of the BEST math teachers I have ever had. She cares so much about each student and having all of us excel in her class. Meeting up with her during her office hours helps a lot because she will individually go over whatever questions you may have. She explains every concept in the lesson in the most understandable way ever. Perfect
Heavy accent, doesn't break things down well enough & only focuses on one problem for each class rather than the whole lesson for the week. Class has too many students so one-on-one action is almost impossible. Difficult class overall, she didn't help
What an amazing professor. She goes over all the work in to detail. and she is always available during office hours
If you expect to learn trigonometry on your own then i highly recommend taking this professor. Homework is nothing like the test. She does provide a lot of help but since there was so may students in her office at a time i was never able to get my questions answered. Lectures only help for the first couple problems of hw after that u r on your own.
Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go if you want to understand the material. Her accent seriously isn't hard to understand, it's very light. She's super nice and funny and makes class fun, however she is usually pressed for time so she goes very quickly. She's always open to answering questions to clarify what students don't understand.
AMAZING. Shivanni truly wants you to pass and succeed. Great professor with easy to understand lectures and very simple tests. Put it this way, her test are easier than the mylabsplus homework. I wish she taught Calculus. Fair grader. GIVES PARTIAL POINTS. Willing to help you outside of class and through email.
this is a very fair class. attendance is not mandatory but she goes over questions that are on the homework. everyone is there to help you which is extremely helpful since math doesn't come easy for me. just keep track of the easy deadlines and having 3 hours of lab per week.
Professor Jagessar is incredible. This course is designed to have a lot of work (which she cannot control) and she really does what she can to make sure you pass. She helps a lot with bringing up your grade. She does everything BUT do the work for you. She's awesome!
This professor is great! She's bubbly and tries to make math fun. There is a bunch of workload for this course but that is all part of FIU's math department. She goes over all she can in the little amount of lecture time. Class is once a week most of the term. Need 3 math lab hours and 1 math gym hour a week.
The class was so easy. She's really good at explaining, and really cares a lot. Whenever you need help or anything, shes always there to help
Really good at explaining problems, she's also caring and silly. If anything what makes the class "difficult" is MLP which you can't escape regardless of the professor. Don't slack off when it comes to the homework, getting 100% on it will make the difference between letter grades...
Really cares about her students and their understanding of the material. Does a great job of teaching and explaining the material. Take her!
10/10 recommend Shivanni! Took her for MACC 1105 and MAC1140, and i can honestly she says she's GREAT! Teaches everything in a very simple way, quick email responder, EXTREMELY understanding and always willing to help you out. Best proff ever!
Best professor I have taken at FIU. I took her for college algebra and pre calc. She cares about her students and explains really good. Very smart and knows how to teach. 100% Recommended. She is the BEST
Easy class made easier by thorough lectures. LOVES QUESTIONS. Lots of EASY HW.
She made my semester 100 times harder than it has to be. She does not teach well and she is not accessible/approachable. This class is already stressful enough, since theres a quiz, hw with 40+ questions, a module that unlocks a preclass assignment, one hour of mandatory math gym, and 3 hours of lab EACH week. I dont find her helpful at all.
Shivanni is a very helpful professor. The class has a couple different requirements but that is not her fault since ALL the college algebra classes are like this. She is available to help you in office hours and responds to email promptly. If you do the work of the class you will pass.
She is actually really clear and cares about whether or not you understand. THE BESTT!!!
Prof. Jagessar is really a great professor. She is extremely caring and understands you when you come to talk to her. She knows how to teach. IF you dont go to her class, im telling you rn you wont pass. Everyone that complains about her, doesnt go to class. MAC1105 is a class that requires dedication. It is a bit challenging but it is what it is.
Shes such a great math professor. I really wish i could take her for MAC 1147 but my schedule wont allow for it. She teaches so well and she loves when students ask questions. Shes very kind and will work until you get the topic. Easy to contact. Shes the perfect professor to take if you struggle with math. Just go to class and youre good.
Nice professor, makes algebra easier to learn by in class worksheets and lecture. Homework helps for practice for test. Weekly quizzes and homework assignments are expected!
Shivanni is a very nice professor, she teaches well and easy to understand. I had a large class so it was difficult to get questions answered in detail, but she responded to emails quickly and very forgiving for missed grades.
Before class started I was overwhelmed by the syllabus, and didn't know if passing the class was going to be possible. With Shivanni it was possible, she makes math FUN to learn!!! Seriously I didn't even like math, and I enjoy coming to her class. She is very caring and is willing to help you!! If you can take her, do it!! Best Prof I've had @ FIU
She truly cares for students and reaches out to those who struggle. The math department mostly runs the class where you have to do 3 hours in the math and an hour of math gym each week. If you actually come to class, do the assignments, and review then you should pass. 4 exams and a final that replaces the lowest grade.
A great teacher, though, with the format of MAC1105 in FIU, the teacher is kind of useless. She is nice and will respond to emails quickly, helping you as much as she can
I almost never went to this class because it was taught in a huge lecture hall for an hour and a half and therefore was not my style of learning- I wouldn't waste my time sitting there. However, she is super caring and would totally help you out if you dont' understand after class. She curved my grade and I passed the class :)
If math is your weak subject DEFINITELY TAKE HER FOR PRECAL. She is big on making sure everyone understands the concepts. She comprehensively explains what's on every exam, and works on a concept-a-day basis as opposed to a lesson-a-day basis. Combine this with LA sessions and you'll be all set.
If you suck at math, TAKE HER. Trust me, ive always been someone who could never get higher than a C in math and could never sit through any math lecture, she changed my perspective!
Gives only workbook exercises and worksheets without first explaining the topic. Stops in the middle of class/exercises to explain some of the material. In my opinion the material should be taught first, and then be tested with the workbook materials. Poor teaching style. Not easily accessible after class and does not/takes long to respond to email
I had to retake this class and Im so happy I took her. The style of the class is no lecture for all these classes so those complaining about her teaching style really dont understand the type of class they are taking. There are preclass assignments, videos, TAs to help in class. She cares and tries her best to help you anytime she can.
I did not like how for this course there was no textbook that is used because that is how I learn. There is a workbook however the workbook has no explanation on how to do the topics. There is also weekly online homework but that homework does not cover all the topics being learn for that chapter and is not similar to the upcoming test.
probable one of best math professor to be in FIU. Homework is pretty easy if your decent in math. Major problem with this class is the new learning curriculum but you can still ask her all the questions you want and she will teach you. she also lets you retake 3 questions for the first 3 test. which could possibly impact 30+ points on the test.
The actual layout of the class is decided by FIU but it is not easy. We work in groups and she is walking around the entire time trying to teach each group individually. At times goes up to the board to explain a problem, but her explanations are very quick and usually we would struggle to keep up. She has few office hours and is a tough grader.
Okay so, no matter what professor you take this class will be hard and weird regardless. However, Shivani is nice, cares for your grade. Dropped an online homework, 2 offline homework, one attendance, replaces final with lowest test grade. ALSO THE FINAL IS EASY AS CAKE. All the classes are like that for this course, so get professor grades easy.
Super sweet lady, touch accent but still clear, fiu requires her to make her students do/submit weekly: a preclass assignment(take 5mins), module questions, (take 5mins), hw and quiz(due sat or sun), math lab hours (3hrs) and math gym (50mins). There is 4 tests and then a final (cumulative). Attendance is graded. Otherwise very easy math class.
The structure of the class is horrible regardless of the professor. The LAs walking around interacted more with me than she did. When she would go explain something on the board I would get confused (I'm good at math) and would have to go to math lab to have LAs explain it. I spent close to 6 hrs a week in lab to try and figure outpre-cal and trig
She never teaches, basically leaves you to teach yourself. In class, she just gives a worksheet and expects you to figure it out
Requires you to do an insane amount of work outside of class just for her to hand out some bs worksheet that we dont get to go over. She grades your MANDATORY attendance live polls as 0 if shes in a bad mood. You will learn so much more in the weekly MANDATORY 3 hour math lab and from your classmates than from attending class.
Shivanni is one the most kindest math teachers in FIU, she is super approachable at anytime, does online and in person office hours, please go to her office she is really good at explaining if you are a newbie. she mostly cares about showing work even if its incorrect she will give you points for trying (don't ever leave anything blank).
Shivanni is great, she truly cares about her students and will do everything in her power to help. This class was hybrid so it's a little harder bc you're gonna need to dedicate time outside of class. But she is always comes up with assignments or redos to help your grade. But you also need to help yourself by going to class and completing everythi
This is not an easy course, but Shivanni makes the best of it. You HAVE to work for your grade. If you do not study outside class, you will not pass. She offers resources outside of class to help you or the LAs. The LAs not only sweet but incredibly helpful. She even lets you repeat 2 test questions the week after the exam to get up to 20 points.
This class was so stressful. She is not an understanding teacher at all and she would not really teach in class. She expected you to know everything and the LAs did not help either. I would ask them a question and they would not even know the answer to it.
Professor Jagessar really cares that you learn. You will have enough homework to learn the content. There is one pre class assignment every class and only two test. The class itself is hard but she explains so good that everybody can understand.
Professor Shivanni Jagessar is a sweet and nice professor with excellent teaching skills. Her grading policy is very objective and fair. She is a valuable asset for that department and also for students. She is amazing!
I love her as a professor shes so nice and caring and shes very good at explaining. I would love to have her again.
If you're going to base your choice off of any review, please let it be mine. Prof. has a good heart, but her teaching methods are poor. Most of my time was wasted. I failed the first exam of the class. I loved math until I took this course. Unless you are a math major and breath calculus and trig, spare yourself.
Shes super sweet. Its an easy class , if you arent good in math I advise to take her as a teacher. The math exam were so super easy nothing to hard! Hw is easy also !
I have not learned one thing from this professor. She overcomplicates everything she teaches, when she does teach. She expects students to learn most topics on their own or from MLP. She assigns pre-classes but only goes over a quarter of the topics in them. Not to mention her exams are difficult and short, making it almost impossible to get an A.
Professor Jagessar has helped me to learn so much. The class is a flipped style of learning so you need to participate. There are preclass worksheets which she completely teaches to you if you take the time to go to her office hours.
I only put 'skip class you wont pass' because there is group work you need to do in class where you have to put everyone's name there. Besides that, she's super nice and teaches well. I have nothing to complain about. You need to purchase the online access code. I'm doing remote learning and this class was good.
The grade that I got was thanks to me and YouTube because I had to teach myself. She took too much time on reviewing the homework on the Zoom meetings than actually teaching and she rushed the lessons, making it harder. We asked the professors to record the class because most of us needed to go back many times and they didn't want to do it.
Professor is an amazing and sweet person, BUT if you do not already come into this class with a strong foundation in pre-calc and trig, you are bound to not do well. 5 exams, tons of hw and quizzes on MLP, pre and in-class assignments, barely any EC. Definitely a "learn it yourself" type of class and you have breakout rooms for half the class.
Honestly, most people in the class were lazy and always looking for answers. The class is set up by FIU itself and not Shivanni, she has no control on the assignment she gives because every math department is like this. Use the resources and you will pass. It is a lot of work though. For the test, go to mylabplus study plans and you will pass.
Honestly, the people in this class were lazy and always looking for answers. The class itself is set up by the math department so she doesnt control the assignments that are given. It is a lot of work, use the study plan in mylabplus for studying for the test and you will pass, shivanni is nice and helpful, always willing to explain.
At first with the reviews I was scared to take her but don't mind the bad reviews. Like any math class, it's always better to watch YouTube videos to understand more. There are 4 exams and a final which are easy and pre class and in class assignments which are cake. She also drops bad grades and helps to ensure you pass
The class requires so much work out of class time that it becomes stressful and overwhelming. She does not even teach you the material in the 1hr zoom sessions and then expects you to do 50+hw assignments, module work, pre-class work, in-class work, mandatory 3 hrs zoom meetings, math gym packets. Its a terribly structured class and I regret it.
Teaching is pretty terrible. No motivation to actually learn when 80% of the class is MLP/ preclass. The study guides don't really reflect what's on the test. When taking a test she also gives you no formulas when you have to remember a ton which is always great.
The professor is good and she works slow during lectures so you can understand. The actual class takes out so much unnecessary time. 2 hours a week for math lab and one hour for math gym. It doesnt seem like a lot but if you have a job you have to really move your schedule around to make time for all of this things. There are 4 assignments a wee
Professor is very nice and understanding, however the class is extremely heavy, the workload is extensive. Math gym and math lab not at all helpful and take up too much time for very little reward, tests are not that bad, hw is extremely long but short quizzes with two attempts.
I took this class remotely. She is very kind and understanding, and a lot better than the other professors who teach this class. No matter what professor you pick, the course will look exactly the same. Professor Shivanni is very lenient and cares about your grade, and does what she can to improve your grade as much as possible.
Any math class will be challenging because there is a lot that you have to do outside of class. Professor Jagessar is hands down the best professor ive had since my time at FIU. The class itself is not that bad but she makes everything easier! I would take her again and again and I would recommend her to anyone who asked!
I think FIU organizes math classes horribly; the class is extremely tedious but all math classes for UCC are! She really is a great teacher and cares about you! The lab requirement 3 hours outside of class weekly, which is a pain but most of it helps if you ask questions! tests weigh very heavily but she's the best math teacher at FIU guaranteed!
You will have to do two assignments before going to class on top of that homework in the math lab. It's tedious but the math homework really helps you on the test. She gives test reviews that you can do before your test and they are SO SIMILAR TO THE TEST, they are never more than 20 questions either. The best, take her!!!!!
Professor Jagessar as a professor is very understanding and wants her students to pass. Unfortunately the way the university has set the class to be structured is terrible. 2 pre class assignments due weekly, weekly connect assignments, 3 hour mandatory math lab and mandatory math gym. The course itself is very heavy.
Any professor you take for this course will be the same. The way FIU set up MAC1105 absolutely sucks. For tests, you use the online calculator given which is impossible to use. All lessons are group worksheets and the professor just goes over them. 4 tests, 1 final, 25% of your grade. She's very nice but could be a little more understanding.
NOTE: This class is 2 full courses crammed into one. TONS of homework. In-class assgts. are 10% of your grade, so it's best if you go to class, even if group work kills you inside. That said, Prof. J really does her best to help students. She has no problem answering questions & includes bonus questions/points in the exams. She wants you to pass!
Professor Shivanni Jagessar is a wonderful professor. She will work with you and help you out with the material. She really knows her stuff. Thank you for a wonderful semester!
Very nice professor but class is pretty much all self taught. There is a good amount of easy work that needs to be done and 2 hours of math lab due each week. Study guides and homework are very useful for test so I recommend getting all the assignments completed for a good grade in this class.
Took Professor Jagessar as a non-degree student for Summer A. This professor deserves my complete and total endorsement. She is very hardworking and understand the students. Lectures are extremely engaging, very fun to listen to and participate. She makes class interesting and the 2 hour lectures goes by in a zoom. Take this professor, no doubt!
Doesnt actually teach You watch videos on your own and take notes that way You get graded with the questions in the videos If you fail the questions there is no going back to do it again Very confusing class if you don't have prior knowledge of the subject. In class, she is so busy talking to other students good luck getting her help with anything.
Get ready to teach yourself every lesson, she is a nice person but her lectures have nothing to do with what will be on the test. You get 3 chances to get the highest grade possible which is helpful. Lots of homework but if you need to take this class she is probably the best choice.
Do not take this class. A lot of unnecessary work and the lectures are pointless and a waste of time. They have nothing to do with the actual material covered on the homework and on the tests. Be ready to teach yourself.
She's super nice. Total of 4 exams and a final. You have 3 chances to retake her exams. You have to teach yourself though, but in every other MAC1105 class you'll hear the same thing. Lots of homework that count very little. She doesn't teach, she'll give you a worksheet and explain it. Has LA's to help you in class. Take her if you get the chance.
This class requires you to learn the content on your own, and come to class to polish up your skills. Professor Jagessar is great at making sure these concepts are easy to understand. There are 3 tests and a final.
The savior of FIU math department. It will be difficult during the semester, but at the end you get a ton of curves. She cares about if you learn. She wants you to pass. Please take her if you're able to/
This is my 2nd time with professor Jagessar. I took algebra I and MAC1147. It's not an easy class but I thought it was easier and less work than algebra I. She give you a study guide that helps a lot, extra credit, answers email fast and always helped me answering my questions. She's a good teacher
I had this class only once a week, so it required a lot of self-teaching. However, the LA tutoring throughout the week is what helped the most. She is overall an amazing professor. Very lenient when it comes to grading exams. Take her.
I had the pleasure of being taught by her this summer term, and I can confidently say that she is an outstanding math professor. With her great teaching abilities and support for her students, she has truly made a positive impact on my math skills. Great vibes with a fun personality, and forgiving if you turn in late pre-class assignments.
Professor Jagessar was amazing! I took her for summer A and there was a lot of work but that's expected for a summer class. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She is one of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are really easy to understand and she explains things really well. TAKE HER!
If you put in the minimum effort then you will do well. The only way you do poorly is if you don't try.
Professor Jagessar is an incredible professor, taking the time to help students individually when necessary and teaching complex concepts simply. She is an intelligent, kind, and caring professor that I would definitely take again.
I LOVED PROFESSOR JAGESSAR!! She is a great teacher who actually cares for her students. The class itself is not difficult but if you slack off it can get intense. Her class is hybrid so you go to class 1 times a week and the rest is self taught. She has 3 test and a final and 1-2 quizzes every class. Overall 10/10 teacher!!
Prof Jagessar is a great professor and is very caring with her students passing. you will have to put in the work to do well but its worth it. Overall great teacher and teaches very well. I recommend.
Professor Jagessar is the BEST! She made learning easy, especially MAC 1147. She gives study guides for every exam and they do help. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go to class since she explains every problem very well. There is a group project but try your best on it. She has Zoom hours every week that further clarify the work we did.
Very friendly and caring professor. However, the online math assignments are too tedious and don't reflect what's on the exams so it's a waste of time. Study guides are great but the tests take it a step further so overall you don't get enough practice. You'll have to teach yourself on the side if your group is as lost as you. Easy to fall behind.
Professor Jagessar is very caring and willing to help the students that ask for it. However, she never provided lectures or lessons to help us learn the material throughout the semester. You are basically going to teach yourself. I depended on the lab assistants to help me understand the homework and lessons.
Clearly explains the content, I was never confused in the class. Very sweet and caring, responds to emails really fast. Tests are easy to study if you review past homework and take the practice tests.
Professor Jagessar is not very understanding and does not lecture due to the nature of the class. Be prepared to teach yourself all of the material. I had to miss an exam because of COVID diagnoses and she would not let me make up the exam despite two doctors excuses. Do not take this professor.
It is imperative that you do good on the tests as it is most of your grade. After three weeks you will get a test on the previous week, i.e., Week 1 test, Week 2 test, and Week 3 test. Each test has 5 questions and there will be retakes after. Doing homework in the math lab is beneficial as the teacher's assistant is there for you to ask for help.
Lovely human being, however, the class is difficult, her form of teaching might not work for many people. There are no lectures, you learn topics through canvas, then in class you do worksheets where several LA's and the prof go around to check your work. Every once in a while she will work out examples on the board. Not best for visual learners.
Lectures are given in the form of playposits from Youtube.Often these lectures do not provide enough information but Jagessar fills in the gaps between the learning objective and the video. The tests will have a big impact on your grade. She gives a very thorough study guide for every test to prepare students.Theres one group project. She's alright.
If you struggle with math and want to pass this class take advantage of the free tutoring FIU offers. The retakes of the exams help a lot in passing the class. The homework can be long. No midterm just a final. The professor is great. 90 minutes of math lab is required and also helps with the overall class grade if you do them.
Professor Jagessar is one of the best professors I've had. If you make the effort to talk to her you can see she is very caring, understanding, and funny. She tries her best to make sure everyone passes her class and her teaching style is unique and really helps you understand.
Professor Jagessar is one of the best professors for MAC1105. If you speak to her she is very caring and helpful in seeing you succeed in her class. I've taken this class once before with a different professor and already have a much better grade. She actually explains lessons. I wish I could take her for other math classes I need for my major.
If you do not test well DO NOT take this Professor. Her grades are primarily made of your main 3 exams and your final exam with 10% of the rest of your grade left to homework.
Professor Jagessar is a very good lecturer and a very nice person, however, I found myself falling behind with many of the lessons simply due to the pace the class was being taught in. If you are not decent at math like me, you will quickly fall behind. Her tests are not excessively intense but they are worth more than half of your grade.
I'm usually not a math person but Professor Jagessar was such a good teacher I managed to understand. She does a great job explaining the content and is always open for questions during class time. The homeworks can sometimes be a little long. The reviews posted on pearson for the tests are super helpful so make sure to use them!
Professor Jagessar is a caring and engaging instructor. The class is manageable with her helpful study guides, but requires consistent effort. I found Unstuckstudy useful for additional practice.
Professor Jagessar is super nice and a great teacher. However, how MAC 1105 is designed is for you to teach yourself some concepts while you do the homework. Nevertheless, class lectures were good and if you had any problems you could easily contact her via email or after class! I would definitely recommend. :)
Her class is easy to pass if you actually take the time to participate in class and watch the videos she assigns. She does have 3 exams that are weighted a lot, but the amount of homework she assigns makes up for it (the homework itself is very simple). She cares about us passing which helps a lot in the long run. I would definitely take her again.
She is a great professor. She is extremely caring and wants her students to succeed. She is a very fair grader and gives partial credit on tests. She gives lots of opportunities to raise your grade with homework, videos, etc. She gives 3 tests plus a final which is 24% of your grade. If you do the study guides for the tests you will be good.
Prof. Jagessar is the best math professor you could ever ask for. She's super kind and very lenient with the assignments. The structure of her class is literally made for the students to pass. There's modules, pre-class assignments, and homework each week which are super easy if you follow up with the book and videos. The tests are also easy.
One of the easiest and kindest professors you will have. Explains very well and goes through lessons clearly. If you have any questions she will answer to the full extent.
TAKE HER. I'm telling you she makes this class so easy and super doable. Actually do the assignments if you don't already know the material from high school. I put attendance mandatory because you really lose out on super easy points by not going. She's the best guys fr take her
Professor Jagessar was very nice. She is a very understanding person so although attendance is mandatory, she understands if you can't attend class you just have to email her. I don't really like the style of this class though, she is a very good teacher but mostly LA's were teaching you because the class sizes are so large.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! One of the sweetest professors at FIU! Homework is just videos notes, worksheet which you complete 90% of in class, and IMathAS. Talk to her after every exam, she might bump up your score by 5 points. Extra credit at the end of the semester + final replaces lowest score. I'm the worst at math but I did really well because of her!
Best professor I have ever taken. Do the assignments and attend the review sessions. Gives partial credit on exams. There are quizzes every class but they are easy, usually like 1-3 questions and you can do them with your group.
