Shobnom is a GEM! a GEM! I struggled simply because I didn't put in enough effort in the beginning and struggling for a second in lab because I didn't put in the effort. With Shobnom, your grade is your fault. She provides every single opportunity to do well in her class and is always open to answer questions. She is kind and helpful. A GEM!!
Best anatomy teacher on campus by far. Very lecture heavy but if you read the slides and make effort you will do fine. All exams MCs and final is cumulative, but she provides guide on what specific topics (not chapters) to study. Aside: be sure to study and do Mastering practice practicals for lab, Linda makes it more difficult than lecture
Shobnom is a good choice for a professor, especially taking a difficult class like Anatomy. She gives you lots of opportunities for extra points. Attendance is not required, but you will do better if you go because she gives quizzes that help boost your grade in the end. 1 bad thing: She is not good at responding to emails and isn't accessible.
Shobnom is an awesome professor! Show up to class bc she gives in class quizzes that can help your grade and tells you specific questions she will put on the test. Her tests are straight from the powerpoints, so it's a really easy class. I studied 2 days before each exam and never made below and 98 on any test. Take her class if you can!
She reads straight from the powerpoints that are posted on Canvas, so it's difficult to pay attention in class. I only went for the pop quizzes/LCs she would do. Tests were very straightforward, just memorize the powerpoints. Overall, an easy class if you are good at memorization.
Shobnom really cares about her students. She uploads all her powerpoints on Canvas, but the gag is that she tells you specific things that are going to be on her tests DURING class. So go. Yes, she reads directly off the powerpoints, but you will get extra help going. Stay ahead or at least be caught up, because tests are no joke.
Attendance isn't technically mandatory but suggested because of surprise Learning Catalytics quizzes and hints. However, as a hard of hearing student, I have to warn all others who have trouble hearing and understanding people because her accent is very thick and even after a whole semester in the front row I still missed a lot of what she said.
I can never understand what she is saying due to her thick accent. she seems nice but she reads right off of powerpoint the entire class. 95% of the time we have 1 or 2 LC quizzes that she closes after class time, so if you don't attend class you'll miss the quizzes.
Uses awful powerpoint that are as hard to understand as her accent. They aren't even her own powerpoints, they're someone elses. Lectures are very hard to get through. Will assign quizzes at 11 pm to be due the very next morning. Will assign quick quizzes with no warning like this a lot.
Did not go to class like at all and came out with an A. You can take the learning catalytics from home. The lab gives sooooo many extra credit points. If you are good at memorizing the slides, this class will be a very easy A!!
Literally reads the powerpoints, but you SHOULD go to class, because she usually gives specifics on tests like how many questions from a certain subject or what specifically to focus on. Lots of pop quizzes, but you can take them at home. Doesn't like laptops but I would bring anyway because she flies through the slides. Cares about her students
This is not an "easy" course, but as long as you study you will do fine! I would suggest going to lectures and trying to understand and absorb as much as you can, then looking over the slides later bc she does just read straight off of them. I liked having her bc she stars and tells you what will be on the exam. Honestly I thought lab was harder
Don't skip class because she gives attendance quizzes a lot. Sometimes it is hard to understand her so lectures don't teach much, but her tests are straight from the power points she provides. You can tell she really cares about her students so if you are struggling or need help with something just talk to her.
Someone teach this lady some english. I dont understand how these teachers get hired when they cant even speak. How do they expect us to learn when theres a communication gap. She reads off of the PowerPoint but her tests are easily as hell tho. Learned nothing but hey, i got an A.
Terrible teacher; all she does is READ OFF HER SLIDES! It's an easy class but anyone could do that!
TAKE HER!! her a&p 2 is harder than 1, but she still is a really good professor. The only thing that may mess you up is lab, but there are a lot of bonus points you can get in lab. Take, you wont regret it!
Compared to the other anatomy 2 professors, she is by far the best option. I took her for anatomy 1 and made sure to take her again for anatomy 2. Her exams are based off the slides but exams are a bit more difficult than in her anatomy 1 class; more critical thinking. She's very understanding and flexible so I would highly suggest her
The class itself isnt too hard. Just read over her powerpoints and you dont even need the textbook. Lab is pretty rough though. You need to know the material thoroughly or your grade will tank.
she is not that great of a professor. all she does is read her slides. I almost fell asleep in her class every day. I still managed to do well on tests, but that was all due to my own individual study. I feel like it could be worse, but she is not the greatest. definitely take it with friends so you can collab on quizzes.
I hated this class. If I wanted to teach myself anatomy and physiology, I would have taken it online. That's really the gist of it. BTW, every class, there is an online learning thing that she will give you exactly five minutes to do, whether your computer is working or not. You're also not allowed to wear hats? And no electronic devices for notes
Anatomy is hard no matter where you take it. She points out what WILL be on the exam/final. It is a ton of information though so prepare to study a lot. She tries her best to work with you if you miss anything/need to make quizzes up. She offers a ton of canvas/group quizzes and does learning catalytic as attendance. Lectures are boring though.
Class is not required but she gives Learning Catalytics and gives an overall grade at the end for participation. She reads straight from the power points during lecture. Powerpoints are really long and there are usually several of them for one test. You can not just read through them to get a good test grade, but test are straight from notes.
Reads straight from slides in class. Gives attendance quizzes. Difficult to teach yourself from PowerPoints because notes are all over the place. Definitely feel that she changed her tests this semester from years past! Pretty inaccessible outside of class for office hours. Also lab is rough.
Shobnom is who you need to take for anatomy 1. Her tests are straight from powerpoints. I would just read her powerpoints a lot and then I made As on every test. Go to class because she will have random quizzes. She is also really funny.
Shobnom is great and so funny! She really cares about her students. She basically just reads from the slides, but theres not really another way to teach material that you just strictly have to memorize... The tests were straight from the slides. The bad thing is that there is SO. MUCH. MATERIAL. TO. MEMORIZE. & that is what makes the class hard.
I made a great grade in her class but that is because I taught myself all of the material. The only reason why I went to class was to do the learning catalytic quizzes. I got nothing out of listening to the lectures because she reads straight from the slides and doesn't leave enough time to take notes. The lab was the harder, do the bonus.
I really liked Shobnom. Her lectures are boring because they are straight from her powerpoints, which she uploads to canvas. I would study a night or two before and memorize her powerpoints and always made an A. She also will tell you things that will 100% be on the test.
Dr. Ferdous overloads the amount of information needed to be learned for each test. She was not very accessible after class. She does not allow you to type notes and then goes too quickly during lecture so you can't write notes down either.
She is by far the worst teacher Ive had at Auburn, and Ive had some pretty bad ones for Chem 1 and 2. She doesnt lecture at all, its just her canvas notes that are so hard to follow. Tests are impossible and you have to start studying weeks in advance. Our last 3 tests were only 2 weeks apart from each other and loaded with info. No bonus.
If taking this class online, DON'T DO IT. She has not posted a single lecture- things she calls "lectures" are just going over the canvas notes page saying "study that" & only 2-3/test. Have had to completely teach myself this semester & lots of busy work- material would be interesting if the class wasn't so much on my shoulders with no help.
This class was awful with Shobnom. The modules we were given were ridiculously extensive and she sent about 5 emails a day. It was so unorganized and stressful. Literally take anyone else. She is a nice lady but do not take this class with her if you can avoid it. NO BONUS
This class was intended to be in person, but due to COVID-19, it went online. She held zoom calls to "lecture" but these just consisted of her scrolling through her canvas page. Each unit has an immense amount of information and her tests are extremely specific. Only 4 tests and no bonus offered. I've had to teach myself all of the information.
Signed up for in person lecture but got moved online. First day of class she said "I won't lecture" and we were left to teach ourselves. Her "lecture" videos are incomprehensible. She posts way too much information and is insanely specific on her tests. There's absurd amounts of busy work and a lot was from the textbook that we're rarely tested on.
Fair professor, but the workload is insane. 3 tests and a final are 90% of your grade so you better do well on them. Overall she is very caring and will do anything for her students. Her tests are straightforward, but she uses lots of T/F with just 1 word changed. Canvas modules are all you need to study. Overall a solid choice over Dixon.
This class would've been a lot better if it was in person. Instead of holding actual "class" on Zoom, she would scroll through her canvas notes and reread the headers of each section. I taught myself all of the information. SI sessions helped a little. Would not recommend if you have to take her online. She's nice but get ready to teach yourself.
She doesn't even lecture during zoom scheduled time and you have to take 50 pages of notes your self on EACH chapter for an exam. When we tell her studying 5+ a day still isn't enough to succeed she rarely cares. A faculty member in my class said she "has no idea how it would be feasible to succeed in this class on top of other classes' workload" F
Does not lecture at all. Gets on Zoom and reads the titles of the Canvas page. 4 exams and little to no other course work. 100% would never take her again. Does not care about her students and you'll be lucky if she ever replies to an email/
shobnom is a good choice overall. it's just a lot of material and it's hard to memorize so much all at once. she's not very straightforward with certain things and she's not super accessible outside of class. it takes a lot of effort to manage this class on top of other classes as well. i wouldn't recommend her if you're bad at studying lol
Terrible. I feel that this class would have been a lot better in person, but she basically left us on our own when we went online. Didn't do one lecture with us the whole semester, so I basically taught myself. Her notes are excessive and all over the place. No extra credit. Left the semester without learning anything and extremely disappointed.
I would not recommend taking this class online (mine is online due to Covid). She doesn't teach. Instead, she posts pages and pages of notes on canvas. During her zoom calls, she just repeats the info on the canvas pages. You completely teach yourself and the tests can be so oddly specific. It's so much info that you need to study way in advance.
We did not have one single lecture on material instead she just posts notes on canvas. There is so much material for one test it is impossible to know everything. Even when I felt confident about a test I found myself guessing on a lot of the questions. She is not very clear. I felt like she just really does not care about her students doing well.
I wouldn't suggest taking Ferdous online. She didn't give one lecture the whole semester, even though we signed up for a lecture-based class. We basically had to teach ourselves all of the material, which was really hard considering she gave us so much to learn. She adjusted to COVID-19 terribly, but hopefully she's better in person.
The worst professor I have had at Auburn. Don't take her if at all possible. Not accommodating at all during COVID. A lot of her emails didn't make sense (broken english). Will not help you out, you get what you get. So stressful and so many assignments that she would randomly assign with no notice. SO much content and expects you to know all of it
Shob is the WORST at online teaching. She has so many random little assignments, spams our emails for everything (to the point where you can't tell what is important), and doesn't put due dates on a lot of assignments. The stupid pre-exam quizzes are way too heavy in the grade book... She was not very lenient or understanding abt online stresses.
THIS IS THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. She assigns preexams that count for way too much, and the actual exams are too close together, too specific, and cover too much material. She has very broken english (hard to understand is an understatement). Sent over a hundred emails of useless junk, nothing was organized, poor communication. DO NOT TAKE
i think i taught myself everything for this class. each test is on 50 pages of notes and you need to know everything. absolutely no leniency given COVID and she even made people retake exams for not looking directly at the camera for 60 minutes. i dedicated way too much time for this class and would NOT recommend to take online
Prof Shobnob cares about her students and is willing to help you understand difficult concepts. The class I had was online, which I feel made things more difficult because she would send so many emails and change due dates a lot. The material isnt challenging, but theres a lot of it on each test so you have to start studying super early.
I took this class during the COVID semester so it was online and HORRIBLE. She would hide assignments in modules and send so many emails that never made sense. Due dates constantly change and her lectures were practically nonexistent. She cares about her students when you ask for help but ultimately does not help much. Taught myself this class.
Dr. Ferdous is great! I had her this semester and she really cares about her students. She wants you to do well. Anatomy isn't easy. Her tests aren't super difficult but they are very weighted. READ QUESTIONS CAREFULLY and you should be ok. Be prepared to study a lot. She makes it as easy as she can. You can make an A, but you have to work for it.
Dr. Ferdous is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. Her class isn't easy and you actually do have to study a lot if you want a good grade, but an A is not impossible if you work for it. She really cares about her students doing well and is very helpful if you go to her office hours and ask questions in class. Also very funny!
SHE IS GREAT!! one of the most caring professors at AU. she takes time to meet with any student that needs help. the class is naturally tough but she understands that and wants to help. the lectures are exactly the same as her canvas notes so if you don't go you don't miss much but it's nice to hear her explain it. he tests are modestly hard.
Is very bad at communicating and does not scale/give bonus points at all. Be prepared to study EVERYTHING. She says she tells you what to know but literally tells you to know everything on the 100+ PPT and then only tests you on 50 questions. I study hours a day and barely have an A, the class avg is a low C and she still wont scale.
Shobnom was fine, but is hard to understand during the lectures. She gives a lot of assignment reminders and has lot of review sessions. Going to class will def. help. I dropped because I changed my major, however her tests were very hard and often times had issues that she had to go back and fix. This made me question the integrity of the class.
I only watched lectures to listen to her say "this will be on the test." I just studied the canvas notes and powerpoint notes. You're definitely going to have to spend some time studying for this class though. It's a good intro to a lot of your other classes if you're a health major. But, you can't just go to class and get an A you'll have to study
You will end up teaching yourself most of the material. In lectures she makes sure to point out concepts she likes to test on, and will tell you ahead of time a bunch of questions on the exam so pay attention. She really cares about her students.
This class is a lot of material, and you need to start studying about a week in advance for every test if you want to do well. Dr. Ferdous is caring and wants you to do well though. She can be hard to understand at times but watch her lectures to get hints for tests and study the powerpoints and canvas notes over and over and you will good.
Her test are very realistic and fair. If you study (and study right which is not just rereading your notes) you can get a good grade. This class requires a lot of studying but everyone taking it should expect that if they are on a pre-health track and want to learn. Also you don't have to "study 8 hours everyday" like she does to pass. Great prof!!
Never take this class online. Youll be teaching yourself. For someone who taught this class during COVID, youd think she could post some of those lectures but instead she chooses to just post 100 slide PowerPoints. Ill be lucky to pass. The in person class gets way more resources than us for a class that I was forced to take Bc others were full.
This class is very content-heavy. Dr. Ferdous reads the slides and tells you what to pay attention to for the tests. I'd recommend taking this class when you have a lighter course load if you want to get an A.
Do not take this class online. She does not answer emails or help. I ended up teaching the class to myself and it is horrible. She expects her students to spend 8 hours a week outside of class studying.
Dr. Ferdous was a very kind lady but not a great Professor. She hardly answers emails and you have to get in touch with the GTA in order to get clarification on anything. On top of that its hard to understand her accent. Test were hard and there were many assignments at once. You have to study days on end to pass. Nice Professor overall.
Shobnom is one of my favorite professors I have taken at Auburn. The class is very difficult but if you show up/listen to the lectures the tests are doable. She basically points out everything you need to know for the exam. She is so caring and wants to help her students anyway she can because she knows how hard this course is. Take her!!!
Anatomy is hard by itself, but Shobnom makes this course bearable. Her lectures are really detailed but she is really understanding and wants her students to succeed. Tests are multiple choice and not super difficult, but be sure to put in plenty of time studying because the content does not come naturally. Be attentive and this course will be fine
Dr. Ferdous is truly a great professor! Human A&P is just a generally hard class with a lot of material, so most of the bad reviews have nothing to do with her. She offers little bonuses here and there and SERIOUSLY cares for her students! Is always available after class or outside of class even though the lecture is huge. Love her.
Not my favorite professor. She really didnt care if you passed or failed her class. She says she wants to help but really doesnt. Has mandatory GTA meetings that are apart of your grade so Rest In Peace to all my COSAM majors out there because she makes the times in all your other classes. If you can avoid taking her DO IT
GO TO CLASS!!!! She tells you what is on the test and most questions are word for word from the presentations. Lots of work in this class, and lots of material before tests, but she narrows it down to the important stuff. GTA points sucked I will admit but there were multiple chances to make it up and even gave us a point one day for being in class
This course has a lot of content, which she cant control, but she does care for her students. In class she gives hints on questions that will be on exam. I usually studied 2-3 days before the exam and would make a A but I highly stress staying on top of the content for the final exam (not cumulative)
Dr. Ferdous is overall a great teacher. She is not great at speaking English, but you get use to it. Test are 50 questions multiple choice, true or false, and 5 fill in the blanks. This semester she let us drop one of our lowest exams. 10 GTA meetings required for points that can be a pain. A bunch of her questions come straight from the powerpoint
She cares a lot about her students and A&P is a hard class. Early studying is the key to passing her exams, and she dropped our lowest one which was a huge boost. The tests are challenging but able to pass if you pay attention and study. She also provides little assignments and bonuses to help your grade. I would not take her again though.
Theres not many great A&P professors, shes not one of them. Her lectures are hard to understand and basically just reads from the powerpoint. The only reason people go to class is because she says what will be on the exam. you're expected to read the book and its all memorization but thats typical of A&P. She requires lots of time outside of class.
Dr. Ferdous is a sweet woman, & she cares. But her class is very very hard because anatomy is content-heavy & just a hard class. Her favorite words to say are "know everything," & she's not kidding. Know tiny details. It's hard to do when you're studying 300ish slides for one exam, but you have to. Read textbook too because the tests are hard.
She does not respond to emails, she does not let students see tests, and does not know how to work Canvas. Take another teacher if you can. Very thick accent that is difficult to understand, you'll be teaching yourself by reading the book better than you'll learn anything from her. Good luck. the class itself is doable, but makes it much worse.
Gave out way to many assigments and readings. Added 5 more assigments during finals week, along with final. Also canceled the final than re added it so everyone needed to reregiter during finals week. Worst college professor I've had!
Shobnom is the best A&P professor at Auburn. Peart's test's are all fill in the blank. Three lecture exams and one final. For our semester, the lowest of the three lecture exams was dropped. There is a ton of busy work that sucks! GTA meetings that are useless, and group quizzes. Shobnom is very kind and loves her students.
Shobnom is one of the best A&P professors on campus! Her exams were pretty straightforward, but you'll still need to study hard for them, as they cover an insane amount of material. I made a B in her lecture only because I didn't study as hard for the second and third exams, but if you put in a lot of work and effort, you'll make an easy A.
I took Shobnom because of her good RMP reviews, yeah she was NOT good. You can barely get a breath in while she recites her powerpoints. Very minimal effort on her end. she would say somethings on the test and it never is, You're better of just reading the book for exams. Anatomy is alot of memorization but her whole test is application.
Don't take online unless you want to watch lectures from 2 years ago. Extremely disorganized and almost impossible to get ahold of over email. I hated every day of this class, reads straight from slides and tests on the more minute things in a sea of information.
This class is a waste of time. For the last few units, assignments and lectures were posted a week before the exam was taken. We had a week to learn a 12 part chapter. The book homework is long and mind-numbing and teaches nothing. You have to have all the time in the world to even begin to do well in this class. DO NOT TAKE!!!
you can't understand her very well, and you don't learn anything in class. i skipped class and taught myself all the info. tests are multiple choice with a few fill in the blanks. if you want easier tests with a teacher that doesn't teach take shobnom, if you actually want to learn but have harder tests take peart.
You will have to study every day outside of class, but the tests are straightforward. Dr. Ferdous cares for her students, and she's very approachable outside of class. The class is a ton of work, but it's anatomy, and that's just the nature of the subject. Don't expect her to spoon feed you; you need to put in the work to succeed.
She was ok, better than I expected. Shes a little hard to understand but her tests aren't that bad as long as you study. She has group quizzes before each exam that are stupid and don't really help your grade I don't think but overall her class is very interesting. VERY lecture heavy and you may have to read the textbook. Overall ok.
She is very kind but so difficult to understand which truly makes the course way harder than it could be. Her tests are often very different than what you expect based off her focal points in lectures. I ended with an A but really had to use external resources like YouTube videos and read the textbook to get a grasp of the materials. Be prepared!
Dr. Ferdous is very accessible outside of class, but her entire class is merey reading off powerpoint slides. The tests can be difficult due to the sheer amount of information you must know. She does try to tell students of questions she is likely to ask, and she cares for her students very much.
Dr. Ferdous is really hard to reach outside of class, particularly for an online course. She does a good job with giving material, but the tests are extremely hard and picky. I am not one to use the textbook in classes, but READ THE TEXTBOOK and take notes! I started doing this for the 3rd exam and it helped me so much. She likes to use it.
Shobnom seems like a nice lady, but she's very strict. She gives 80-140 slide ppts for class that she doesn't finish and makes you complete them on your own. Tests the extremely minute details of the lectures instead of the bigger picture. My tutor taught the last ppt, but she assigned a ppt after the last day of class and was heavy on the final.
She would give us up to five powerpoints for each exam with almost 100 slides on each powerpoint and expect you to know everything. I would read the textbook and use quizlet for every exam and never was able to make an A or B on an exam. Attendance is not required all she does is read off of her posted slides. Exams are T/F or muliple choice.
Horrible teacher. If you don't study for 8 hours a day, good luck in this class. She said during lecture that she made an exam question so hard, it made herself sick. Does not respond to emails, avoid.
I was prepared to work hard to succeed in this class but no amount of preparation can offset the ineffective teaching methods that Dr. Ferdous uses. She simply reads off slides in class and when asked questions about what material to focus on from the lectures, she would reply, "Everything". The expectations in this class were unrealistic.
I would recommend taking Peart instead! This class was so frustrating because I felt like I was studying so much unnecessary information that was not on the test. The final consisted of 85% of content from a powerpoint she briefly went over the last day of class. She used the word "precede" on the test and didn't know what it meant.
In class, DO NOT type every little sentence on the ppt because they are provided beforehand. She makes it pretty clear what she wants you to study and what is on the exam so pay attention to those and COME TO CLASS. I took notes on what she emphasized (which may include the textbook) and studied the canvas module for each section. Ended with an A.
I didn't understand a thing in this class. There was so much material that was crammed into 100+ slide PowerPoints. I cried a lot over this class, and the exams were extremely difficult.
Her accent is so thick it is extremely hard to understand, she expects you to study for 8 hours a day for her class (bc that's what she does). Her class is the only one that should matter. You do McGraw Hill assignments and drawings for hw. She does NOT drop any exam or help you in any way with your grade. She will drop some hw grades but thats it
I am taking this class right now and I absolutely hate it. Dr. Shobnom never tells you what is really on the exam. She goes over the slides and says "this is very simple" when we are going over a course heavy topic. I have never made above a 70 on her exams and she never responds to emails. Do not take her because she is always never on topic.
I do not recommend her. She is very hard to understand and makes the test so difficult. Her powerpoints are very material-heavy for no reason. She does not give any extra credit or help you. Most science teachers drop the lowest exam grade to help you but she does not. She also does not respond to any emails ever!!!!!
Dr. Shobnom is a very nice woman; however, her class is extremely difficult when you have other time-consuming classes that you need to worry about. Her test and final make up around 60% percent of your grade. I have studied more than I have ever studied before (~30 hrs/exam) and have not managed to make above a 90 on one of her exams.
Dr. Shobnom is nice. But... there are many issues with this class. 1.) There are homework assignments that take 2+ hours and are worth 4-5 points. 2.) The tests are focused on small details. 3.) There are no study guides and each test is on around 500 PowerPoint slides. 4.) The extra credit given doesn't impact your overall grade at all.
Class is very, very time consuming. Assignments only worth 4-5 points will take you 3 or more hours to complete. I've always done really well on exams, but have not made over a 60 on any of hers. The power points for exam material are super lengthy and it is hard to know what is going to be included on the exams.
I am not done with this class yet, but here are my thoughts thus far. A&P is tough, regardless of the teacher. I can say the way she presents the material can be hectic. It was hard to know what would be on the tests because she would say something like "Exam 3 starts on slide 68 and ends with slide 34 of another powerpoint." Also, no extra credit.
I took her online and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. You can tell she doesn't know how to teach online and the online students do not get the same information as the in-person students. I would not recommend taking her online class because she gives different information to the in person students. She also uploads lectures from 3 years ago, so not accurate.
Love shobnom, so sweet but heck no never again. fail the tests and you are done. (70 does not count as failing for all of you over achievers) Assignments are worth only like 2 points.
The class is managable, Its a lot of work and you have to put effort in. She made this class unreasonably hard, none of the online material was ever fully complete. Videos would cut out and there was zero guidance. I never spoke to her in person or email. Her office hours are not flexible and she never responded to my emails. Find another teacher
Be prepared to STUDY. way too much material for each test you end up studying 5x more than needed. if you study every day and fully know all the stuff by heart you can easily get an A. attendance is not mandatory but GO!! Lots of assignments but thankful for them bc they help your grade. Rough course but put in the work and you can get a B or above
Save yourself time and find another professor. Over 600 slides for each exam. No grades dropped. No extra credit-2 points for the whole semester isn't even extra credit. She does not respond to emails. Even if you study for weeks, you will be lucky to get over a 90. So much homework for only a few points. You end up studying 10x more than the test
I mean I got a B after studying my - off. Her teaching style reflected onto exams and grading is just unrealistic. If you can read something and just memorize it you'll do great- that's all she does in class. Tests make up for too much of your grade, considering the amount of time and work you put in outside of the exams. Good luck.
I really liked Dr. Ferdous its just sometimes hard to understand her during lectures but if you meet with her outside of class hours she is always willing to help.
Dr. Ferdous is a very nice lady but her class is SO difficult. Her exams are based on 700+ slides for each test, and she gives no study guide so it is very hard to learn the right material. She tries and wants her students to do well, but be ready to study. She also gives homework assignments that take 3 hours and are only worth a couple points.
She is very kind and funny but her class is very difficult. Yes, it's anatomy so it's hard but we're given 600+ slides and her exams are only 50 detailed mc questions. No study guide so if you didnt study one of the topics asked on the exam then too bad. Lots of HW given which takes alot of time but is a good buffer to help keep that letter grade.
you will have to study for days and every second of the day just to get a 70 on her exams. There is 600+ slides to memorize and also read the textbook because she will test you on very little details. Exams are crazy hard but there is a lot of extra homework that helps i guess.
I took this class with Chemistry, and I don't recommend. This class will be ALL of your focus, so take it with an easier science class or not one at all. I studied a week before exams for hours on end and still mad around a 70 on each one. GO TO CLASS!! She will tell you specific things that will be on the exam.
Anatomy is just a hard class. While attendance isn't mandatory, you have to go because she will tell you what is on the test and what is unimportant. She has a ton of different questions for the exams, so everyone gets something different. This became upsetting when she would stress certain processes and then I wouldn't even see it on the test.
AP isn't hard to understand there's just a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Begin studying for exams as soon as possible. Take Canvas notes and fill in gaps with the textbook. Pay attention to lectures to know what she really wants you to know. Helps to take notes ahead of lecture. Tests are multiple choice with a hand full of short answer.
I took Dr. Ferdous during this fall semester for Anatomy and Physiology 2. This class is 10 times harder than her A&P 1 course, and our class is considered the "guinea pig" class. She skims over the slides, is very scattered brained and her notes are not thorough. I have yet to make a B in any of her exams and have been making d's and f on her test
Worst ever do not take!!!!
Dr. Ferdous crams a lot into her lectures. She is very caring about her student's grades tho and offers bonus assignments as well as group quizzes to help bump your grade up. She can be difficult to understand, but really does want her students to do well. This is a hard class so be prepared to put in the time.
caring and wants her students to make As but she is unorganized and difficult to understand as she speaks softly & has a thick accent. she adds slides the night before each lecture and will expect you to watch lectures outside of class if she doesnt get thru all the material in time. three systems in 4 lecture times is too much info for final exam.
Dr. Ferdous really cares about her students. She gives points back on the exams and also gives bonus points throughout the semester. There is a lot of information but that is just like any anatomy class. If you study hard and pay attention to her lectures, you will do just fine.
Dr. Ferdous is an amazing, but difficult teacher. She is very very lecture-heavy, so make sure to pay attention to her lectures. Go to class!!! She has her PowerPoints that she uses to lecture available on Canvas, shows you where in the textbook she'll be pulling test questions from, and gives many assignments that will help your grade!
A good professor, though sometimes she seemed a little out of touch. She offered a minor amount of extra credit along with boosting our test grades sometimes. A LOT of homework, but it's mostly busy work and a good grade booster. The better A&P professor for sure, take her if you can. The class is very difficult and you will have to study a lot.
She has high expectations for her students and her class is veryyyy lecture heavy. Just get ready to take notes and learn a lot of material for each exam. I would recommend reading the textbook, it really helps fill in the gaps in her power points and videos like crash course. She also gives a good bit of bonus and scaled our exams.
People complain so much about her. Reality is there's a ton of information to learn quickly, similar to higher level and med school courses. There are a lot of slides (200-300 each test), but if you study those directly and listen in class you will be fine. Find a friend, go over the slides, talk through them, and understand them- you can do well.
Are the lecture boring? Yes. Is there a lot of material? Yes. It's a college anatomy class that's kind of to be expected. She's a fair grader, only the stuff in the powerpoints are on the tests. She will generally give a few points back too after every test. It is very possible to make a mid to high A in this class. Final isn't cumulative.
Dr. Ferdous is really not that great. Going through on average 80-120 slides in one lecture is way too much information. There is often a lot of homework which can take upwards of 2 hours depending on the assignment. The worst part are the exams. If you do not hold onto the minute details you will not do well.
"This is VERY simple"- you will hear this about 12 times in a single lecture. Tests are so hard that you walk in thinking you understand the topics and leave thinking you're so lost. Homework is easy but takes so long to complete. There is about 600-900 slides for each test, and she just reads off her slides in lecture. Sweet lady though.
Why should a professor tell you she needs to study 8 hours for each lecture if she's taught the course for years? Tests are extremely hard and consist of 600+ slides. She says the only way for us to succeed in her course is to study every day and read the textbook when we are bored. To do good on tests you need to study weeks before.
This is a very tough course, and it's even harder when it is hard to understand her. You kind of have to teach yourself most of the time and have prior knowledge to the units. She is a very nice person, however that doesn't make up for the difficulty of the course. Tests are extremely hard and you need to understand all topics in depth.
You can get an A easily if you study the Powerpoints and don't cram the night before. It's an anatomy class so it's naturally harder but not impossible if you studied. Her tests are fair and only from the Powerpoint. She sometimes gives back points from the tests. If you study her Powerpoints and do the homework, then you'll be fine!
Not going to lie Shobnoms classes are difficult but she is an amazing teacher. She cares for her students and wants them to succeed. This is a college class obviously so studying is mandatory and lots of it. Her test are straight off the powerpoints if you remember them you will do fine. Tons of homework but they help with the quizzes and test.
I didn't love Ferdous as an online professor. It was impossible to reach her through email unless you used a negative tone (which I hate doing). The course material wasn't too bad, but tests would have material that was never in her slideshows. She would always forget about the online class whether it be grading mishaps, lecture corrections, grades
Her lectures are pretty bad because she just reads off the slides but if you study the slides pretty much word for word then the tests are pretty easy. She gives a lot of points back on tests because she makes so many mistakes on them. HAVE TO study at least a week in advance for them though.
Terrible professor. Top 3 worst I have ever had. Have fun staying up until 3am every night studying a week before the exam just to have questions that were not in the PowerPoints.
She is average. Lecture heavy and she just reads from slides. LOTS of homework that barely help grades & takes hours to do. Exams are straight forward but require excessive studying. She called the entire class lazy when we had a low average on an exam and takes weeks to answer emails. Overall, not too terrible but would not take again.
Shobnom's A&P 1 class is a lot of work. 100s of slides covered for each test and time-consuming homework that isn't beneficial for tests. The bright side is the tests are all from the power points, very few surprises on exams. She also gives back points for hard questions. Can do well, but requires a lot of time. Don't take with other hard STEM.
I genuinely do not know how she has not been fired yet. Shobnom is the worst professor I have ever had at Auburn for both anatomy 1 and 2. She is not clear about anything, says everything is very simple, and you will end up having to teach yourself over 600+ slides for each test. If you can do anything possible to not take her, do it.
Her tests are not easy and require a lot of studying but she is such a sweet woman and just wants her students to succeed. She does have in-class activities so going to class is important but she is also very understanding and will let you make them up with a valid reason.
This professor is quite possibly the best science professor at auburn. I love her. She gives you powerpoint and you just go through and memorize them and that is exactly what is on the test.
The exams are based off of multiple 100+ slide powerpoints, but if you even have a vague idea of the material the tests should not be too hard. She expects you to read the assigned textbook pages as well, but it's not a deal breaker if you don't. Grades are based off many assignments, so do not fear a low test grade!
This class is just hard in itself. She just reads off the slides, and 90% of what I learned I learned myself from the textbook. You will do fine as long as you just take notes. She reads off slides and posts all of them so she makes everything very accessible. She is very funny and genuinely cares about her students.
I got an A in her class. Did not go to lectures just memorized the slide shows. Her lectures are pointless, so if you think you'll need help with material do not take her. I can't understand her and she just says everything is easy. I am a junior who has already seen a lot of this material, had I seen this material brand new she would be no help.
While there may be lots of work for this class, the only things that really effects your grades are the tests. She took days to get back to me about meeting, because I was struggling and needed help. Even if I responded immediately, she would wait days to reply. My grade did not reflect how much effort I was putting into this class, so I dropped.
I would not take this professor again if I did not have to. I am taking the online course, and it is very challenging and hard to learn. She barely gives out extra credit. I would not recommend the online course at all.
This class is hard to begin with but even harder with her because her accent is so heavy, I spend most of the class trying to understand her. Her tests are on 400+ slides so studying becomes impossible at times. She says she gives extra credit but then never ends up putting it in the gradebook. If you have the option to take another teacher I would
Tests are ridiculous hard. Way harder than necessary. Tiny detailed questions from nowhere, not on slides, there were no review sheets. Went to most every SI, didn't help with exams. Class ave test scores in the 50's. No curve. Hard to understand, heavy accent. Reads off slides, doesn't explain material, gives zero help for study guides for exam.
UNORGANIZED!!!!! DO NO TAKE!! 1. She has a very heavy accent, making it very difficult to understand what she is saying 2. She reads straight off the slides. Going to class is pointless 3. Tests are over 400+ slides 4. Claims she gives extra credit, but doesn't put in grades 5. She literally refuses to talk to you The wost professor I've had!
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE! She would upload hours and hours of work a week before the test over hundreds of slides. Lectures are from covid so not really helpful and its her just reading off the powerpoint anyway. Very little bonus points and the tests are from a bank so the whole test could be on a small part of one of the hundred slides.
terrible
She's terrible. You can't understand her. She's the kind of teacher that you have to figure out what she's saying & then figure out the meaning behind what she's saying. Her slides are jumbled & chaotic; they make no sense, so don't count on them to clear up whatever you can't understand in class. Tests are hard & there's no way to fully prepare
She makes it so difficult to know what you need to know for exams. Each exam will cover 4-8 powerpoints that are 40-150 slides each. She uses a question bank for her tests and it is beyond difficult to pick out what she is going to include. I knew one topic that went over half a powerpoint- 1 question. I skimmed topic on 1 slide- 6 questions.
She changes the due dates to assignments FREQUENTLY! She also told us that if "we cannot understand her when she is lecturing then that's too bad." No study guides for tests. Hated her class and it was the biggest waste of time and money. If I could rate her a 0 I would.
One of the most unhelpful professors I've had at Auburn so far. Doesn't answer emails (I still have ones from months back she never answered), has a very heavy accent and her class is mostly her just reading off of the 400+ slides she has. Avoid this class if you can! Also no study guides to go along with those 400+ slides :)
Terrible teacher. She should be fired. You can't even understand her. Tests are so hard. They are only 50 questions long, and it is impossible to prepare for the tests. The slides are always 100+ and there are around 8 per test. Auburn would be better off without her as a professor.
Good god almighty this was the worst class I have ever taken in my life. Do not take her. Anyone's better. How is anyone better? Bc Shobnob wasnt my professor for this course, I was the professor for this course. Taught myself everything. She is rude, unhelpful, a bad teacher, and is one of those profs that tries to make a class hard just because.
Shobnom was not the worst professor I have had but she is very difficult. She speeds through lectures and her powerpoint slides very quickly. She crams in a lot of information, but she has a lot of easy assignments that can keep your score up. Even though she has a little bit of broken English she was not the worst.
She is so bad. You don't learn anything in this class. You can never understand her or her powerpoints. Make sure to continuously study & not fall behind. It can get overwhelming when cramming the night before. Tests are unpredictable and you can expect anything to be on them. Don't count anything out just because it seems like a small detail.
She does not answer her emails at all. I had a question about my grade and emailed her on the same strand five different times. Being in the online class also gives you a big disadvantage because she does not put in the same grades and give the same assignments. The exams are excessive and you are expected to know over 500 slides with no guidelines
Shobnom is a nice person; however, she is not a great lecturer. Her heavy accent makes it very hard to understand, and she basically just reads the slides. She is unclear in her expectations of you. She always says she will post an announcement but never does or waits til the last minute. On average, the class makes Cs or Ds on exams.
DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!!! If you are thinking about taking her, DONT. On finals week she told us she was going to stop responding to emails and she did. She also changed the due date of the final exam two nights before at 10pm. She is not good at responding to emails and you will need to teach yourself based on lecture slides.
Shobnob is the best teacher ever! She teaches well, is respectful, is not rude, and is very organized. She responds to all of my emails! Her tests always cover broad topics, so you can easily do well if you know the core concepts. Take her she is the best! All of that is false, she is a nightmare of an experience.
This course is a ton of material, as any anatomy lecture is going to be, but Shobnom does an amazing job at condensing the information. Sometimes she was a little scatter brained but if you go to class and pay attention everything makes sense. Every question on the tests are copy and pasted from the notes so it is easier if you have a good memory.
I loved her class. She slid in some jokes here and there and was sometimes unintentionally funny too. She has constant office hours and is very fair with everything she does. The most important thing is going to every class because you fall behind a lot if you miss one. Its an anatomy class so of course there is a lot of material but isn't bad.
PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS!! She doesn't like phones out during her lectures, which makes sense. She tells you what will and won't be on tests, which is extremely helpful. Take notes outside of class because she talks very very fast. Overall, do your homework outside of class, pay attention to lectures, and study often and you'll be fine.
this class is hard if you don't know how to study for her tests. she basically read off powerpoint slides, which made class feel unnecessary. her slides are posted on canvas. her tests were copied and pasted terms and definitions from her power point slides. I made quizlets of her slides and memorized them, and got A's on all of her tests.
Shobnom is really hard to understand and I spend most lectures focusing on understanding her instead of what she's saying. Exams are on 300+ slides and have so much info, but tests are pretty much word for word slide info. She's fine but wouldn't recommend.
I took this class over the summer online and she was so unorganized. She did not warn us when we would have exams, she would send an announcement randomly informing us we had 3 days to take the exam. We didn't know when our final was until the day before. I have heard she is good in person, but I would not recommend her online summer course.
do not take this godforsaken class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The professor's lectures can be hard to follow, but using study aids like unstuckstudy ai and the textbook helps manage the heavy workload. Staying engaged and prioritizing attendance are key to doing well in this challenging, but rewarding course.
Shobnom does not know what she is doing. Her test averages are incredibly low. Her accent is not too hard to understand, but it is clear that she doesn't know how to teach properly. Her slides are copied from the textbook. She crams all the material, even making us watch recorded lectures on our own time the day before the test.
Shobnom is teaching BIO 1020 for the first time this semester(2024). She is very hard to understand. She cannot teach very well regarding reading straight off of the slides and not going into further depth in the material. Overall very hard and stressful.
DONT TAKE HER. I warned you. She is awful, you cant understand her due to her accent. Test heavy and doesnt provide extra credit. Youll have to pay to get a tutor, and spend hours studying to get a decent grade. GOOD LUCK.
I have mixed opinions about her. She is a MUCH better option of the two main A&P professors, but she still isn't amazing. Very hard to understand during class, so its almost not worth even going. Power-points are really informative but extremely lengthy. The class in general is extremely difficult, but she won't be of much help 'teaching' wise.
She is nice and cares for her students, but she is not super helpful. She is available to meet with, but in order for that to be helpful you need to come with direct questions. The tests are straight from the slideshows and she posts them, but in order to do well on the tests you must know every detail that is on the slides.
The lectures are heavy but thankfully all the notes are on p-point which is posted. I 100% recommend Quizlet+ for this class for AI to make a dumbed-down study guide to make it easier to understand because she just reads straight off the p-points and doesn't actually teach. The SI review sessions are very helpful for the tests as well.
This is shobnoms first year teaching bio and it is very obvious. Her accent is very hard to understand and I don't think one of out test averages has been above 65% this year. She literally just reads straight off the slides and doesn't actually teach. her tests are also very hard and confusing. good luck if you get stuck in one of her bio classes.
Although she is the best option to take for anatomy... she is still not good. You can barely understand a word she says during lecture and she reads straight from the slides. Much of her class is super confusing and although she says you can meet her outside of class, she never answers her emails.
She is very kind and wants her students to succeed. She often gives extra credit which bumps up your exam grade. Exams can be tough (this is a science course that's expected) but as long as you study you will do fine. The only cons are that she isn't a great lecturer so you have to teach yourself most of the materials.
Although, she has flexible office hours to accommodate her students, she is not the best at lecturing. She has a thick accent that makes it hard to understand, and she reads straight from the slides. Her power points are rarely under 100 slides each chapter, and they are FULL of information.
Could never understand anything she is saying. Horrible communicator and long classes. would never take again.
She is a good teacher but she has a very heavy accent that is hard to understand. She also randomly gives you quizzes to complete with little notice which is so annoying. She also tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests but there is still a lot of material on the tests. Overall, she's not bad but definitely could improve.
Literally just reads off slides. Gives hours of homework that is nothing like the test questions she asks. You're not gonna learn from her you are either going to have to rely on SI/LA or teach yourself. Take this class when you still have motivation, not senior year or you are going to hate it.
Shobnom reads directly off the slides and doesn't know anything she's talking about. Only point in going to class is to see what isn't on the test, but don't fully trust her. Test questions are worded weird and she has an extreme accent. Each exam you have to memorize at least 150 slides, and some questions are only mentioned once in the slides.
Mainly read off of slides. Has a thick accent that can make the content hard to understand (especially if you aren't familiar with it). Lots of in class quizzes, but you're allowed to work with classmates on them.
Shobnom is a great professor in the sense that she lectures on material that you will actually see on the exam. She is difficult to understand sometimes though. She is not very organized with assignments as she uploads them throughout the semester, which is annoying, so make sure to keep looking. If you go to class, listen, study, you'll do great.
Didn't have any trouble understanding her during lecture. The material itself isn't difficult, its just a LOT. No participation, just in class activates or bonus points for attendance that she did two or three times. Lots of McGraw Hill homework that sometimes takes multiple hours to complete, but it helps w/ understanding. Reading the book helps!
The class is one big lecture, consisting of her reading off the PP slides. It definitely requires a lot of time outside of class for you to understand it on your own and do well on tests. She clearly cares about her students and tries to be accommodating; she gives a few extra credit opportunities throughout the semester also.
I was so close to coming out with an A this semester. Do every assignment and study like a madman for her tests. They weren't super hard, but just the way some of the questions were phrased are hard. She's super kind, but just not the best lecturer. There is a tad bit of a language barrier.
Ferdous clearly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. However, she is not great with technology and will create assignments and forget to tell you so make sure you stay on top of checking canvas almost every day (or at least days you have lectures). Attendance is not mandatory, but she will give quizzes that need codes.
I love this woman, her lectures are long, the material is hard but if you work hard enough you will succeed. She is so funny and makes going to 8:00ams enjoyable. Her exams are like the slides however focus on main concepts. No drop exams but lots of quiz and homework grades to boost your grade. Best anatomy teacher ever.
Worst professor i've ever had. STAY AWAY!
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR BIO!!!!! As an engineering student this was BY FAR MY HARDEST CLASS. She is very hard to understand and is not good with technology so she opens and closes quizzes without saying anything. Went to tutoring and the tutor was in disbelief of how far behind we were and she NEVER responds to her emails
I loved her! She has a thick accent, so is hard to understand at first. However, she explains in class what she will be asking on exams. There is a LOT of material in this class, so it can be difficult. If you go to class and study what she tells you to, it is not so bad. You can retake quizzes (outside of class) as many times as you want.
The most difficult thing about this class is the amount of content. However, her exams are straight from the PowerPoint lectures she posts to Canvas. Also, her final exam is NOT cumulative. In addition to four exams, she will post quick and easy assignments like a discussion or bookwork. Missing a few won't kill your grade, but they do add up.
Has a thick accent so I did not understand her. Her lectures were not concise with her exams and the amount of material and detail she wanted us to know was INSANE and not possible in the short amount of time. Do not take her.
It's definitely doable. The exams are a lot of content but are pretty straightforward. She gives hints in class as to what will be on the exam. Just go to class and start to study several days before the exam, and you should be fine.
I do not suggest taking this class. Her accent was hard to understand and lectures were all over the place. She would assign things and not tell us about them. Very hard to reach outside of class. My class was doing so bad on exams that she started telling us in lectures what exactly would be on the test.
hard to understand, very boring lecture, hard to learn in the classroom, says you will do well on the test but that will require a lot of work on your own time. hated the class tbh
She is a kind, caring woman. However, this class is INCREDIBLY content and lecture heavy. There is a lot to learn in a short period, so the class goes very fast, and she tends to just read off the slides. However, her tests tend to be straightforward and she is clear on what she expects you to know (which is a lot).
I took her online over the summer, lecture heavy, she tells you what is gonna be on the tests, so as long as you study, you'll do fine. Takes her a while to answer messages or emails, but she chill fr.
her accent is pretty difficult to understand, but she is very clear about what she wants you to study. if you do not study outside of her class, you will fail. she also loves when students come to her office hours or ask questions. she's very easy to talk to and her dry humor is super funny, but it is human anatomy, so it's difficult.
I was nervous to take this class but I'm glad I did. She records lecture videos for you to watch and is super easy to get in touch with if you are ever confused! You need to watch the lecture videos and study hard if you want to do well on exams. She also gives you many options for taking the exam, in person, online, or with her.
The best way to describe her is ok. my friends with other professors definitely had it a little easier just by comparison. The class is very doable she just wouldn't be my first choice.
This class in general is tough. Professor Ferdous is very sweet and is passionate about anatomy, but she does have an accent and talks very fast, making her hard to understand on occasion. Her tests are made off of the slide presentations. Just pay attention in class and do all of your assignments, and you'll be fine!
i took this class online and she did not have anything together. she releases assignments every week so you actually have to look on canvas for when assignments are due. does not answer emails or respond back to questions. lots and lots of hw
her lectures are very drawn out and boring but if you pay attention she tells you what will be on the exam or what you dont need to know. the SI leaders helped a lot by giving study guides for exams.
She's hard to understand which is unfortunate because her whole class is lectures. there's a ton of material to cover for each test. there's also a ridiculous amount of work outside of class that is low-key irrelevant. I wouldn't choose her if I had an option
This class is an overload of information. If you do not study the second the material is presented do not expect an A. a hard class, but bad presented information. I have been in various hard classes, but this one was overkill on random info not on the exams.
She's a good teacher, but she reads directly off the slides when lecturing and goes so quickly that it's hard to keep up and understand. Homework counts for a majority of the grade, though.
She is a very kind and caring professor, this course is just difficult by nature. She mainly reads off the lecture slides but it is important to go to class because she will often say what is / is not on the exam. She shows practice questions during class which is helpful. Would take her again.
She is a nice professor and very understanding. She cares a lot which is kind of hard to come by with professors. There is a lot of content but I would advice to go to SI meetings and studying the slides because a lot fo the stuff on exams are from the slides. I would suggest using AI to help simplify the content so you can get the general idea.
Great Teacher!
Dr. Ferdous's class was surprisingly easy for A&P 1. She has a very thick accent, however she mostly just reads off of her lecture slides so it is not much of a challenge. Exams do not weigh as heavy on your grade as other classes so it is easy to bring your grade up if you don't do so well. She also offers to replace your lowest exam grade.
Somehow getting a 75 raw on the final brought my grade from a 69.7% to a 64.3%. Do not EVER take this professor if you don't have to. Impossible to understand her in lectures and overly strict on students who inquired for questions. Had no mercy and no reply to any emails about missing class for sickness and my grade plummeted.
She is not very "canvas savvy", which leads to many mistakes on tests, grades, and assignments. Most of the exam content comes directly from her powerpoint slides. I found it easier to take notes on the slides on my own because she talks very fast during lectures and is hard to understand. Class isn't mandatory, but there is in-class assignments.
It's hard to understand if you're not in front of the class. She also doesn't give much help on exams as she tells students to study things that aren't on the exam and not to study the topics she will then heavily test on. Take notes before class and fill in along her fast-paced talking. She reads directly from slides.
Lots of online assignments that take a while to complete, reads directly off the slides so im not sure she even knows whats going on. Will say something is not on the exam and then theres 5-10 questions on just that topic. Language barrier so you cant understand and doesnt take attendance.
Anatomy is a hard class in general just from content. I had her online and she just reads off the slides but she knows her material well and her tests are pretty fair. I've had friends with other anatomy teachers and its all about the same in terms of reading the powerpoints word for word. Study hard and know EVERYTHING on the slides.
Shobnom is such a sweet lady, and you can tell that she truly wants her students to succeed. Anatomy is an animal of its own, and it is a tough class, with lots of studying to do well. There is a little bit of a language barrier, so I just listened during lecture, and took notes by myself after class bc she reads off slides and goes very fast.
Shobnom is a generally a good professor and willing to make extra time for her students. Lectures are not mandatory but good to go to as she will mention what to focus on/ skip from slides. Definitely a little hard to understand and is a very fast paced class. You look down for one second and she's already two slides ahead.
She is a really sweet lady and cares abt students so much, but tough class. H
Very sweet and wanted us to do good, but really hard. Tough subject and no matter what you will have to work hard for BIOL2500. Accent is tough and moves fast, lots of material per test. Tests would
She never responds to emails and is rude when she finally does- you have to email at least three times in a row to get a response. She reads straight from the slides so going to class can feel a bit pointless. I think that the way she responded to a rounding request was quite rude and insensitive considering the work that I put in all semester.
She is very difficult to understand, but she just reads off the slides, so I mostly just taught myself by going back through the slides. Her tests aren't too difficult, but there is so much content on each one. Requires LOTS of studying but that's probably any A&P. Her final was not cumulative which was nice.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! She does not respond to emails, does not have set office hours, and will randomly email students a room number when she is there, so it is really hard to meet with her. Her exams are not at all what she says they will be. In class, she will say that things are not on the exams, and then they will be.
Literally the worst professor I've had. Does not answer emails unless you email multiple times and is rude when she finally does. Accent is super strong and she is hard to understand. Puts things on test that she said would not be on them. My grade dropped because of the final even though I studied everything she said to. DO NOT TAKE!!!
I'll be honest, don't ever take her for a class you need to care about. You can't understand a word she says and just reads off slides during lectures. As well as that, she can't communicate to save her life. Homework assignments that nobody knew existed would always pop up in her class and and grade book. I have no idea how I got a B.
Attendance isn't mandatory, however, I would still show up since she will tell you what will be on the exam and what won't be covered during lectures. She is, overall, a very sweet lady who genuinely cares about her students' academic success. Her final wasn't cumulative, which made it a lot easier.
She is nice but never responds to emails and moves insanely fast, which could be expected of this class, but with the accent and the super fast pace, it means a lot of teaching yourself the material. I did not actually learn much in the classroom. Homework is not too bad and she drops some of your lowest grades. All tests are multiple choice.
very nice person, she was constantly telling us she was available for office hours. Lectures were hard bc its a lot of info and she can be difficult to understand if you are not paying attention very well. At the end of the semester, she drops a lot of grades and puts in extra credit, but make sure you are doing the small assignments
Overall this class wasn't terrible! The slides are really long and there is a lot of content to memorize, but if you are able to do that you will be fine. In class she tells you what she is going to test on.
I'm taking Dr. Ferdous for a summer comparative anatomy course and wow. I, along with everyone else in the current course, have had so many issues. She never responds to emails, even though this is an online course, the syllabus doesn't matches due dates, and everything is always so last minute when it comes to posting assignments and exams. AVOID!
Don't take! She doesn't respond to emails and is very rude when she does. Test questions do not reflect the material taught
Dr. Ferdous was hard to reach the entire semester. Due dates were random and changed on a whim with no warning. I had issues with accommodations all semester. She refused to give time accommodations on certain things and was not considerate.
She never responded to any email I sent her, all semester long. Zero. You can't get clarification when you need it, and I needed it A LOT in this extremely disorganized class. Please save yourself the anxiety and avoid this incompetent professor.
Her accent is kinda hard to understand in the beginning, but I think her class is great. She explains things multiple times. Her tests are quite easy if you listen to the lectures. If you go to class and study, it is very easy to make an A.
No one in my class understands a things she says and she goes through the material extremely fast.
Her tests don't align with her exams at all, many students have failed her exams and when we try to contact her on how to study- she simply does not respond. Literally one of the worst professors I have ever had. I had a question and she yelled at me in front of the entire class with the microphone on.
This was one of the worst professors I have ever had. Lectures don't help AT ALL. If you email her, most likely she won't respond, and even if she does, it's rude. You HAVE to study the textbook to even have a passing grade on the tests. The tests are impossible. The average of each test was all D. DON'T TAKE HER!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IT SUCKS!!!!! I took her for bio 1020 and attendance was required even though you couldnt undersrand her and even if you could, nothing she says in class is on the test. Every single testing average was a D. She gives no extra credit and will not respond to emails. She is hilarious and seems like a sweet lady but...
The average score on her tests are either a D or F. The material she goes over in class isnt even on the test half the time. She literally goes through 60 slides a class and you cant even understand what she is saying. Had to teach myself most of the information.
Dr. Ferdous is a very sweet and funny lady, but she is extremely ineffective at teaching. Her lectures are not very helpful and difficult to understand. If you must take this teacher, prepare to study and teach yourself all of the concepts. If you've never taken biology before, good luck.
She is amazing. Pay attention in her lectures and read the textbook and you will be fine. You have to put in the work but it is a Biology class at a SEC school. I always recommend her!
She is a really great professor! Her class is very lecture heavy, but she covers only what is necessary to pass the exams. She tends to the needs of her students, so she does reviews or chapter quizzes frequently. She is also really funny!
Professor Ferdous herself is very sweet and caring, but her teaching strategy can be hard to follow. Be ready to teach yourself if you don't understand her accent. My biggest complaint is that she lets us know of quizzes 2 hours (or less!) before her class (she used to email us a day beforehand). Exams are heavily based on the slides and quizzes.
She doesn't care about students at all. She literally says in class that she tries to make our lives as difficult as possible. On the way to class I would hope one of the golf carts or electric bikes would hit me. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She doesn't give enough time for people to process her slides, goes incredibly fast, and actually grades you on things you just learned in the same lecture. Do not take her, your grade will suffer regardless of how good you think you are at biology because her teaching skills are lacking. The class is overall stressful and I do not recommend.
test were very hard, lecture heavy
Ferdous is heavy on lectures but half of the lecture will not be seen on the test and she goes so fast it is almost impossible to take notes at her speed. Go over quizzes before exams those tend to be on it. Overall I would not take this class again because you will have to teach yourself and it is hard to understand her. She is nice though.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY. She says attenance isnt mandatory in the syllabus, but it is and is apart of your grade. You also will not be able to understand her and goes way too fast in class for you to take notes, so you will be spending all your time outside class note taking and teaching yourself the lessons.
She is genuinely a nice person, but not an effective professor at all. She has 50-70 slide presentations for each unit topic and will go through them so quickly in class that there is zero time to process the information. Exams are based on presentations, and they're not super difficult but you do have to teach yourself everything.
During lectures she just reads off the slides but that does not even matter because you cannot understand her. Will learn a whole chapter in one lecture and then take a 10 minute timed quiz on the previous chapter. Get ready to teach yourself all the material. My AP Bio knowledge from high school was the only thing that saved me. Avoid taking this!
Never responded to any of my emails, and was difficult to understand. Her lectures are just her reading off a slide, and the only reason to go to class is to learn what she will and won't put on the exams.
Her accent is heavy and I have never been able to understand her. She only has powerpoint presentations so get ready to teach yourself material. She is not good at making tests and there is always errors with her test. Has a quiz on every chapter at the end of class but only gives 10 minutes to finish and covers a new chapter before the quiz.
This class is an absolute nightmare. Shes difficult to understand, and doesn't teach at all. She t
Do NOT take this teacher under any means necessary. She is very difficult to understand, and her tests rarely reflect what she lectures. She doesn't really teach and just reads off of a slideshow. Not to mention she rushes through the slides and then ends class 10 minutes early... If you've never taken a high level Biology course... Avoid Shobnom.
You have to teach yourself everything. Unfortunately, it is difficult to understand her (not her fault, but it makes the class difficult). The exams are a lot harder than what you are taught in class. That's also IF you learn. She speeds through her slides, but the slides do not actually connect. It is one topic after another.
Ferdous is a great person and is funny, but she's not a good teacher. If you have to take her, you'd be better off teaching yourself via the textbook and only going to lectures for the attendance and potential bonus points. She is not tech savvy- her exams have many typos, repeated questions, images that don't load- keep in mind she has SEVERAL TAs
Very kind and seems to be knowledge on the topic, but she does not know how to teach. She reads off the powerpoint strictly. Will give you clues on what will be on the exam but you are better off just reading from your textbook and teaching yourself. Difficult but it is doable.
She barely speaks any English. She's knowledgable of the subject but that's useless if you can't understand anything she teaches. Attendance is pretty much mandatory if you want to pass this class at all. But get ready to teach yourself everything. She'll "tell you" what's on the test but then when you go and take it there's more then what she says
Kind professor, extremely unclear about expectations and does NOT answer emails! Tests consistently have misspelled words/incorrect sentence formatting so it's difficult to understand what the questions are asking. Questions are also often repeated which negatively affects your grade if it happens to be the questions you don't know the answer to!
Shobnom was very caring and tells you exactly what she puts on the tests. All tests are multiple choice and other assignments were assigned online for homework. She fills the entire class time lecturing, but attendance was never taken. She does have a heavy accent but it is not impossible to understand her. One of my fav/easiest professors.
Super nice and funny. Very hard to understand, moves quickly, doesn't post notes or study guides.
don't do it
Honestly she was a struggle to take. She is very lecture heavy and she says attendance isn't mandatory but will give you a pop-quiz everyday. She is very lecture heavy so get ready to study a ton outside of class.
This class is difficult because her lectures are confusing. I got through the class by writing what she said on the slides (slides are important) and then rewriting them so it would make sense. Prepare for quizzes almost every class which can be pretty easy or pretty hard. Just know that this class is unorganized, chaotic, and not very helpful.
You're doomed from the start. Confusing notes. Doesn't answer many emails. Difficult to schedule makeup exams with (or fails to show up). "This won't be on the exam," but it is. No exam curve. Quizzes every class. Better off watching Crash Course/teaching yourself. Avoid her at all costs, especially if you haven't taken bio in a while. AVOID.
start praying to whatever god you believe in.
Horrible. She is very lecture heavy but goes on tangents and gets behind on the schedule. SHE WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAIL. Due dates/test dates very unclear but good luck getting clarification. Her tests are a mess - images that won't display, incorrect answers, etc. I felt like this class wasn't a priority to her and we suffered as a result.
Great person, difficult professor.
Doesn't respond to emails hardly ever. Does not provide any suggestions for what to study for tests. Tests cover an unreasonable amount of material going into way too much detail. She is very confusing on her expectations such as scheduling your own tests. All her tests from this semester had failing averages and she doesn't scale them.
I would never recommend this teacher. She never responds to emails. she does not help out when you need something. She seems nice but also mean at the same time. Very unorganized and she has a very thick accent and goes fast. I do not learn anything in lectures and have to teach myself. FIND ANYOTHER TEACHER.
I consistently wished I would get hit by a Tiger Transit bus on the way to class. That's all.
avoid at all costs. She does not respond to emails and is constantly changing her office hours. her slides are very dense which makes it difficult when coming to the test as she gives little to no guidance. class isn't mandatory but constantly gives quizzes and top hat polling questions.
Professor shobnom is so sweet but very hard to understand and a poor communicator in general. Her test questions are difficult to understand and try not to take honors with her because she didn't give clear expectations for our research essay.
You can barely understand what she is saying because her english isn't great and all she does is read off the slides. She is not engaging at all in class and is barely accessible outside of class because of her inability to respond to emails. She takes a week if not more to respond and when she does she is quite frankly rude. 0/10. Do better Auburn
Very unorganized class, did not anwer emails and exams did not align with lecture material. Very nice professor but was very hard to communicate with. Attendance is not mandatory but tophat attendance is graded and excuses only count for exams.
Lectures are boring and unhelpful. She is rude and does not respond to emails. This is the first class I am going to end up with a B in, as the tests are extremely difficult and ask extremely intricate questions about random sentences from the slides. Mind you there are about 500 slides per exam. I am going to get an A in o chem over this so avoid.
She is the worst professor at Auburn Univeristy. She genuinely deserves to be fired and is a awful person. Every test is horrible and awful. She does not help at all to prepare you for tests and for the final, well... get ready to fail that too. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!
Very nice lady, but entirely clueless on how to teach biology. Lectures were extremely unorganized and slides just copied from textbook. Half of the slides are just wastes of time and will never be tested on. Not difficult to get a good grade, but impossible to actually learn what's important and will set you up for failure in future courses.
She does not teach at all, I had to teach myself everything out of the textbook. All she does is read off a slide for an hour and does not provide any helpful information. We have random quizzes every class with no warning. The only reason to go to class is to know what is not on the exam, you also can barely understand her accent.
This was rough. Few assignments. Takes attendance on TopHat and does random polling quizzes. The quizzes are given immediately after the chapter is done. She reads straight from her slides. She takes forever to reply to emails (if she ever replies at all) and she has new office hours everyday that she sends with about an hour notice. AVOID IF U CAN
Had to learn out of the textbook rather than from her lectures, she's super unorganized and whenever anyone asked her questions she was rude. Slides are full of nonsense and even if you do study those they don't help because of all the useless content crammed into them. DO NOT take this class by ANY means ESPECIALLY for biology.
DO NOT TAKE. Shobnom was the worst professor I have ever experienced and if I could go back in time and fix my mistake I would do it in a heartbeat. You cannot understand her accent and she just reads straight from the slides. I had to teach myself by reading the textbook and she is no help at all, doesn't even answer emails and rude to students.
I have never been a suicidal person, but this class had me genuinely debating jumping in front of a moving train. She NEVER responds to emails, even about excuses. She cannot teach. She has the strongest accent I've heard since being a student at Auburn. If you are taking this class next semester, you better pick a religion and start praying!!!
Please do not take her class!!
lectures are straight from the slides, but she does say things in specific to study for exams. her accent is heavy but if you sit near her then it is not overly hard to understand. tests are pretty specific though, and that makes them difficult
BEWARE!!! I would be in tears walking to her class every day; i would rather Anakin Skywalker some younglings than take Shobnom EVER AGAIN!!! I would study for every exam, and, somehow, I would make below a B... every time. For your sanity, and mine, do not take her for any class. Thank you and goodnight.
This class was very hard to learn from. The instructor's accent and the bad microphone made lectures difficult to understand, and key concepts weren't explained clearly. I felt unprepared for most exams and had to teach myself the majority of the material. I would NOT recommend this course.
Her lectures are mostly read straight from an enormous PowerPoint, and the exams are very challenging, so you end up learning most material on your own. She isn't approachable or supportive, and office hours aren't helpful unless you're already doing exceptionally well.
She is so passive-aggressive. She assigns lots of quizzes, drawing and labeling assignments, and in-class activities. Other than that, her exams aren't too difficult—mostly just memorization.
EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! 100 slide lecture powerpoint each class and the most random info you've never seen before ends up on the exams. I sent 8 emails through out the semester and she didn't respond to a single one of them. I gave her two med clinic excuses and she counted me absent for both. her office hours are so unreliable
Worked my butt off all semester, straight A's in all other stem classes and still felt like I was fighting for my life in her class and on exams. The content on them is genuinely never taught or seen in class.
Never responded to emails. Did not have set office hours. Gives no good advice when you talk to her. 100 full powerpoint slides in 50 minutes. Gives 1-2 quizzes a day on lockdown browser. Average on the tests were a D. Final was a F and no curve given. Never responds to emails. Syllabus says attendance is not mandatory but she grades it. TERRIBLE
go ahead and dig. your. grave. if you have to take her as a professor 😇
Shobnom's class isn't difficult as long as you set aside about 3 days before exams to study. If you do this, you will be just fine. She is more than willing to meet with you outside of class and is typically available every day. She does read straight from a slide show for lecture and goes very quickly so its useful to take notes outside of class.
shobnom is buns.
Received an A but only because of hours and hours of studying. Her powerpoints are very confusing to follow and her lectures are hard to understand. She is a funny woman and gave us bonus points just for laughing at her jokes. But the class is still a nightmare if im being honest. Like her as a person, hate her as a teacher. Study and study A LOT
She is very hard to get a hold of outside of class. she has a select number of office hours and if you miss those, she hardly ever answers emails. She goes through slides really fast in class, so it's impossible to take notes, but she doesn't want anyone to take pictures or use their phones in class.
Shobnom is pretty good. She is very knowledgeable and kind. Yes she is hard to understand but shes lowkey funny. Her tests are kinda hard you definitely HAVE to know your stuff.
Current exams have been altered & are MUCH easier and straight forward than past years, so take that w grain of salt when reading past reviews. Go to class bc she tells you exactly what will be on the exams. I should have gotten a B, but she rounded up for me so there's hope! She is NOT accessible through email & will tell you that.
Idk what all these people are talking about when they say she's a nice person, she literally failed me by 0.7 points and won't round my grade. She does not respond to emails and her tests do not align with her lectures. I would rather put nails under my toenails and kick bricks than take her class again. That's all.
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN!!! She's very difficult to understand and just reads off her slides expecting you to get it. She never opens her test after so you have to get to her during her hours (which change constantly) and the most she'll say about what you missed is “we talked about this in class.” So hopes and prayers if you take her!!
Better than the alternatives (peart). Has a heavy accent and lectures the whole class. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but you have to go to know what's covered on tests: lecture presentations are 100+ slides, but she may omit 1/4 of them for test materials. Very unorganized. Instructions are always unclear, but she isn't a hard grader for classwork.
