I strongly advise NOT taking this man's class. I took biological psych with him, and anything I learned was from the textbook. His lectures are not organized, he loses his train of thought constantly, and never once has he let the class out on time.
If you have this professor on your schedule, DROP THE CLASS. He often loses his train of thought, going uhh... and goes off on a tangent unrelating to ANY of the material. His classes drag on, and he always let us out late.
He is a fair professor and gives you many oppertunities to increase your score. He may not be very organized when it comes to class noted, he is however a very intelligent man who can help you if you choose to persue a career in psych.
I didn't learn anything in his abnormal psych class. We had so many tests online that we had to get a 90 or better on and it took up my whole weekend. The lecture tests were ridiculous. I got a 70 (the highest in the class).. at least he made that an A.
He goes off on tangents and is hard to follow. He does give u opportunity to get ur grade up but when ur taking an evening class and he gives u extra credit which is goin to meeting during the day it just isnt fair. i dont think i would recommendhim

His online tests take up too much time. You wont learn ANYTHING. The things that are on the quizzes DO NOT relate to the things he talks about in class. He's 15 minutes late to every class, and never lets you out on time.
plain and simple...for your own good, drop the class. He's rediculous, his class is rediculous, and his online tests are rediculous...dont waste your time! He made me HATE psychology.
His class is very boring no need to take notes or buy the book. 40% of the class is on the computer taking online quizes over and over until you get a 90 but its all good cuz if you fail every inclass test pass with a good grade.

It is a hard class however he does give you every opportunity to pass with a good grade. The syllibus is laid out with what he expects from you. Gives extra credit if you attend the psych club meetings total 10 points added to the final grade if you go to all of them. Class is boring. ok teacher.
The best teacher i have ever had for Psy. Gives you the chance to pass the course...he explains everything if you dont get it..If u really want to learn something about Psy take him. i took him a year ago and still rememberevery thing he tought..would rec to everyone!
Great Class! Great Professor! Gives you every opportunity to pass the class. The tests are hard but if you study the notes you will do fine on them. Yes he is late to class SOMETIMES but who cares! Seems to me those who are failing the course are looking for ways to blame him for their failure.

This guy is a piece of crap. He is always late, he actually NO SHOWED a class and made us wait an HOUR before someone let us out. He babbles about everything BUT Psychology. If you have a question, do not ask him, as he will just spend 20 min. dodging it. HOW HE WORKS AT NCC STILL IS BEYOND ME.

This guy is such an ass. He was ALWAYS late, he ate food while he taught...actually, he teaches nothing. Most of the tests are online, you have to keep taking them till you get a 90. It's an easy class to pass, just make sure you do all the work.
The man is always a minimum of 15 minutes late. Half of his class is online yet he is a hitler when it comes to being absent.

Ok.. He was not the best teacher! I will never take him again. If you really want to learn, do not take his class, he is not a well organized teacher. He wasn't rude at all or mean, he just can't teach, his class was so boring, i would try to listen to but i would daze off. Don't take him, unless you don't want to learn.

I took him a few years ago - and actually reported him to the head of the department because he was so so bad. Things obviously haven't changed. He came 20 minutes late to every single class - and never taught a thing about abnormal psych. There are so many good profs at Nassau - don't waste your time and money taking him.
just awful. i had a class who really liked eachother, and he just brought us down, doesnt teach anything and all the work was online... all you need to do is ace the online work and you cant fail, otherwise just sleep.

Always late to class. Extremely smart person and knows a lot about the subject. The material is scattered and sometimes confusing. Must attend class or else the material is jibberish. 40 percent of grade unless you're an idiot is an automatic A. The rest you have to work for. This isn't a slackers class. Will get what you put into it.
He is a smart guy but a very, very boring teacher. he talks really slow so class is not fun to go to. he comes late sometimes and then spend s 20 mins trying to figure out where we left off. needs better oganization skills.
He is so horrible! He tells stories that have no point to them whatsoever and he doesn't allow his students to use the bathroom and if your cell phone rings he cries like a baby and walks out of the room.
He is kindof boring in class but he is very helpful and he offers alot of ways to help you boost your grade like going to psychology club, also he give a big grading curve. Overall if you do all your work you will be fine.
Enjoyable class, I found a lot of what he was saying very applicable not just in clinical psychology but also in everyday life. Sure he has some flaws, but if you're after knowledge and not just the three credits you get for this class you've come to the right place. Online tests rely exclusively on the text book and can be time consuming.
He is the worst professor ive ever had, his online tests are so annoying and long, everything he says in class seems pretty pointless until the test comes and he says you need to know the useless crap he babbled about all semester. At least the dumb online test will help your grade, overall i hate the class and i wouldnt reccomend anybody taking it

Its an easy A if you do all the work, but if you are lazy you will fail. Quizzes are online and can be taken as many time as you want until you get a 90 or better. And there is only like 3 in class test you can BS thru. I got all 100's on the quizzes and failed two of the in class tests and still got an A+ even though Nassau only offers an A.
He's actually a pretty okay professor. 60% inclass exams 40% open-book online quizes, that he gives you multiple chances to get the required grade of a 90^. psych club for extra credit. in-class exams are pretty easy if you pay attention in class. Curves the grades. the only problem I had in class were the immature students..
i had him for abnormal psych, interesting class talks from experience little boring, he makes you do online tests and you have to get a 90 or better they are horrible they take all day to finish i dont reccomend taking this class unless you have a lot of time to dedicate to it. Do the tests and you will pass the class with a good grade.

Alot of the negative comments posted do have some truth to them. but if you are a good student you will do more than fine in his class... you'll do excellent! this guy is sooo patient, allows you to ask questions freely, very knowledgeble, ad has met some of the pyschologist he is teaching you about (I think Pavlov). take his class if you can.
avoid at all costs! he lectures about random stuff and expects you to somehow pass the tests which are based only on his lectures. then you have to take 16 chapter tests online (which are open book and untimed) and get atleast a 90 on it. GOOD LUCK if you have him. DROP HIM ASAP

Take this class if your willing to study ALOT, He is A very smart man but his class was very long and boring. He answers whatever questions you have. There are lots of online courses plus 3 or 4 in class but i do believe i learned a lot from him! Dont take this class if you want to slack off.. you NEED to work. But i do recommend!

I had him for brain and behavior. The online tests can be tedious, but as long as you know what your doing hes good. In my whole college career ive never had to drop a class until this one. He is 20-30 minutes late every class, has a personality of a rock, gives ridiculous online tests which information you never go over once the test is done, and gives possibly the worst lectures in all of college history. Several weeks into the course and the brain hasn't been discussed.The reading assignments and chapter tests are all done online, and we must keep retaking then until we get a 90 (otherwise it gets reduced to -50) If we weren't required to sit through his rambling it wouldnt be bad. So far we are teaching ourselves at home.

The worst professor I ever had. The in-class tests are absurdly impossible to pass and the "Online Test" policy is totally unfair. If you miss a test deadline, a -100 is added into your average. Very nice man, but horrible teacher. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
You cant go to the bathroom, must have all notes and be in class the full time to be "there" for attendance. if you have the text book on ur computer the online test are pretty easy. i dreaded that class, but I did get a B and I am happy with it. If you study the notes and try to pay attention to him youll do okay.
If you are a full time student you will definitely not have enough time for this class...his grading system is absurd and unfair if you do one thing wrong you fail...he does not use a textbook and goes off of his own knowledge where he goes off on pointless tangents...don't take this class if you want to retain your sanity

I'm all for being tough on students as long as they learn, but he's just rediculous with his online tests and completely boring lectures. Must have a printed outline and notes every class and must be there until the very end of class to be eligible for attendance. VERY BORING
I am sitting here now trying to read the chapters due for his Brain and Behavior class. He discusses NOTHING about the chapters we are forced to read AND be tested on within a week of each other, yet he doesn't even bother talking about the subjects we were stressing about to pass his stupid grade policy on tests. AVOID!
People who hate him don't put the effort in. Just bring your outline to class. Write down everything he says, though his stories are just to drive the point home. I wrote like 5pgs per class when some people had 5pgs per semester. HW is weekly online, openbook tests you can take as many times as you need to get a 90, and some answers are online.
This was a very hard class. Make sure your take good, detailed notes, they'll help you throughout the course. You use the textbook weekly for online tests, and you must score above a 90 on all of them or they turn into a 0. Also,bring your outline with you to every class, he'll mark you absent if you don't have it with you.GOODLUCK! you'll need it
Great Professor. Most students who complained were texting in class and not taking notes. If you put in effort, which is the least you can do for a college course, you will pass. I got an A in his class and it was not difficult to obtain. Online test are a breeze. Don't wait til the night before to take them though.
I don't recommend taking this class especially if your full time. The online chapter tests are VERY time consuming. Had to take each test at least more than 5 times smh. He's a nice guy but he's not specific and doesn't give a clear explanation on the topics in class. Very little verbal communication as far as asking for help
His class is very boring, but he is a nice man. He is not very clear when speaking but just do all the online test. He practicaly hands you the A if you go everyday and do the online test.
If you'd rather not die of boredom and confusion this class isn't a good fit for you I didn't learn a single thing the class is almost totally online it takes him a half hour to get started and then he just flies off topic you can't take notes because he never teaches anything
This professor is a good professor. Open book, no-limit retakes until deadline for online exams. I recommend recording the class and taking lots of notes. He expects a lot from his students, but if you honestly do the best you can in this class, you will find the results very rewarding. Tip: Take chapter tests in advance! His finals are NOT easy.
The people that trash this professor are the ones that don't pay attention in class, don't read the assigned chapters, and honestly give this class their worst. His online exams aren't extremely easy, but he gives you unlimited tries until the deadline to get over a 90 (which is the lowest grade he accepts). This isn't high school, it's college.
if you miss any of his online tests don't bother finishing the course. he doesn't teach you anthing that will be on the online chapter tests so if you have a full schedule and other hard classes i reccommend another teacher because his work is very time confusing and cannot be done at the last minute.

the class discussions are interesting, and if you like or are majoring in psych, he isn't too bad of a prof. don't miss any online tests, you get as many tries as needed.. they're easy A's. the tests are only on what is said in class not textbook, textbook is only used for the online tests.. don't fall behind though!!
He is a very good teacher, he makes it very easy for you to pas his class and his testes aren't so clear but there is no way you should fail his class because you did poorly on his tests
Super easy, just follow instructions and take lots of notes. You take 1 or 2 online tests every week based on the book, which you don't even have to buy because you can take the test as many times as you need to get his required grade of 90. For his other tests, which don't use the book, know everything he talks about, a lot is in his outline.

You're responsible for teaching yourself since everything is based on the online quizzes and have to get a mandatory 90 or above grade. You can retake them as many times until the deadline, easy. Plus the 2 online class exams that are multiple choice. Take a few notes of what he says, check blackboard a lot, boring but it's not that hard to pass.
He is one of the worst psychology professors ever. Very unclear and indecisive about what he will put on his in class tests and finals. Very ruthless attendance policy and the grading scale for his online tests should be curved to 85 and above instead 0f 90 and above. He does not answer any questions precisely and is very sarcastic.
1 or 2 online tests per week you must get 90 or above ( you get unlimited attempts though) if you dont get 90 or above it counts as -100. do them all and you will have a b+ or A
This professor is the worst professor I have ever come across.Very little is taught is class. The online part is mostly easy due to the fact you can retake most of them as much as needed.But there is an in class test which will count for 60% of your grade!AVOID this professor at all costs!! He clearly no longer cares about his job!
Like others said, time consuming online tests that you MUST get 90 or above on or you receive a NEGATIVE 100. These test aren't easy either although they are only 20 questions. Lecture is extremely boring, you don't learn anything pertaining to what you are reading from your textbook. Would definitely suggest taking this class with another teacher.
the class can be interesting at times, but for the most part you just sit and listen to him talk for a while. you can retake the online tests as many times to get a 90 which is helpful. but the tests that are online are really hard... tough stuff if you're not a psych major
I hated this class! I took it in the 4 week summer session . . . worst choice ever! Granted we get to take the online test over & over again to reach a 90 . . . I took physiological psychology over the summer with Mr. Cohen. It was a blackboard class so it was partially online and partially in class. If you do all the work you will get a good grade. It appears hard at first but you will learn a lot and do better than you imagined. Just do the work and learn - Cohen won't let you down. The was great!!!
One online test every week that you must get a 90 or better on, and if you don't, a -100 gets averaged into your grade. He sits at his desk and lectures all of class about things that have nothing to do with the tests, so you'll have to find a way to teach yourself everything. Seems to talk down to students.. Take course with a diff prof if you can

Absolutely do NOT take this guys class. Sorry shoe box Cohen but not a very good professor. Learned very little, and being in this class was torture. Plus, the online homework's are very tedious and make you want to go crazy. I passed with a B+ but to much tedious work for this class. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Sorry!!!!!
A lot of online tests but you're given the opportunity to take them until you get 100. Rambles a lot during lecture so pay attention to the quizzes given online. Textbook isn't necessary. Very understanding but makes you WORK for your grade. You'll need a lot of patience to make it through lectures but it's worth it! Overall a nice genuine prof.
This might as well be an online class. If you have any other responsibilities including work or other classes this class asks for a lot. All the work is done at home. You pretty much teach yourselves. During lectures he rambles about stuff you don't need to pass.
I had the pleasure of taking this professor over the summer. He had very stict rules when it comes to class room behavior. He has online web quizes which are very time consuming! So be prepared to do those. He does offer extra credit, but at the same time you have to earn your grade big time!! don't slack off!!
Took abnormal psych - You can get 100 on every single online test, but if you get less than a 90, you receive a -100. (YES NEGATIVE) and you end up failing the class. DO NOT TAKE!
He talks all class long mostly on things that aren't even on the online tests. Even though you can take the tests multiple times if you don't get a 90 you get a -100. I got an A through out the whole class and did poorly on one test and wound up with a C+. His grading is ridiculous. If you do the work required look into a different professor

Very nice but don't expect to get an easy A. He offers you up to 10 extra credit points on your average and trust me you're going to need every point of it. He assigns alot of quizzes online that are 40% of your grade. If you get less then a 90 on one he takes off points. The other 60% is tests and they require alot of studying and good notes.
Took him and he just rambled about random topics completely irreverent to exams. IMPOSSIBLE TO A GOOD GRADE. Very rude man

This man has 50 years of experience in psychology, It was a privilege to have him as a professor. Do your open book, untimed, multiple attempt online chapter tests on time and start out with an A. Print out the power points, take good notes and pay attention during lectures and you will do well on the in-class exams. Follow his rules and get an A.
His lectures has nothing to do with the textbook. The best part of this class is taking the online chapter tests. You can find it online. If you do all of them you can fail the final and still pass the class. Hes boring so good luck
