Good overall teacher. Knows her stuff. Really arrogant though and sometimes a smarta$$ to her students. Gives extra-credit. Online quizzes are easy. Tests are not bad at all. Will most likely not help you though.
Not that bad... she belongs teaching high school. Take someone else!
Very good teacher. She is able to relate real-life experience to course.
She teaches this class as if we were in high school. She follows a chart religiously. If you can take someone better do so. The tests are moderate but you need to study. If you want to be treated like a baby then this is the class.
only a 5 week course, but i was glad when it ended. She gets snippy and defensive when you ask questions. Not a hard class, but i would have enjoyed it more with someone else.
She can get annoying and we only get three tests. WE had to write a reflection paper on the benefits of the smith career center. Extra credit is only 3points. u r better off busting ur ass to get a good grade.
She made the class harder then it needed to be, but overall it was easy and she was ok.
**** from HELL. She doesn't explain ANYTHING. She talks down to you as if you were in K. She's such a horrible teacher.
DON'T EVER TAKE HER!!! she screwed so many people over in her class....her grading policy sucks. She shows no mercy whatsoever, even in times of personal tradgedy. She loves to make you feel like you are about 2 inches tall and doesn't have enough experience to teach the material well.

She sucks more than a hoover vaccum

She just plain sucks. She is boring, unprepared to answer questions, and a ****. Her tests in ATG 226 where incredelby vague and the whole class is just mindless busy work. Never take her for any class!!
A strong willed teacher. Its her word or nothing but you can earn your grade. She takes attendance especialy on Fridays but she tests you on the material covered in class. Review homework and class work for tests. My favorite was that she taught at a slow pace and always asked if we should slow down
I got a's on the case study, but the final i only got a 72, which was also the class average, so I ended up receiving barely a B. Helpful if you go in and ask, happy to have class over with.
She teaches slower than molasses!!!
Class itself is hard. I had her and wayvon both aren't very exciting. Her tests are more multiple choice and wayvons are more application problems, so it's what you prefer. Her quizzes are online so its an easy A for the quizzes. I am getting a 'C', but I suck at accounting.
She is totally brilliant. Not only is she helpful and fair, but she goes slowly and makes sure there is enough time to learn what real accountants would need to know. TAKE HER! I'm not sure why she isn't getting good ratings, but I have had nothing but pleasant experiences in her class.
I didn't care for her too much. She talked to individuals like they were fools. If you have a background in accounting, then she will be fine.If not, then take someone else, who makes the subject more understandable and interesting. She seems nice maybe if she were your mother, but as a teacher, no.
Shondra is a very good teacher. After taking her 157 class I chose her 158 class. She explains things clearly and has reasonable expectations. Take her if you can.
she sucks... one of the worst at BU
Her class does get a little boring at times but she is very helpful. Doing the homework is helpful. Overall, she is a nice lady and she wants you to understand the material.
I recommend her but its not an easy A, have to study a little but you should do fine if you at least put some time. Answer questions in class so you will be on her good side too.
This class is not easy but she is very helpful. She doesn't want you to just get the grade but to know the material so she will do anything she can to help you. You just have to put the extra time and work in. Accounting became a little more interesting to me too! I am taking her again for 158.

she is hit or miss... either really fun and easy or a pain to work with but overall she knows she stuff and it would be worthwhile to take her... if you can't get raiborn.
She is HORRIBLE
Her dishonesty regarding a project gave me the only 'D' I've had in 22 years.
Worst teacher I've had. Always makes mistakes on the board, doesn't grade fairly, and talks like you are in 2nd grade. I didn't learn anything from her in this class.

all i have to say is i took the class with her and got a D and tried really hard, then i took it again with another teacher and got an A. she is confusing and is horrible at making the concepts understandable, and does not know any shortcuts that i was later taught to make things clear and easy.
I love her! She is such a nice lady and is very organized, which is a lot more than I can say for most Bradley professors. As long as you keep up with the homework and go to class, you will do fine!
Not a bad teacher. Very helpful. Homework isn't due, no date given to have it done by, but random quizes make it such that you better have your homework done ASAP. However, she does the homework in class usually, but not always, before she gives a quiz. If you read the book and do the homework, the class isn't bad.
This teacher is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is very dry with her material and makes little exceptions if you have anything that may interfere with her class. Do not get sick, especially during an exam or quiz because then you will be screwed. She does make you feel like youre in second grade, too.
Vague a lot of the times. Doesn't nessicarily see more than one way to teach a subject. Puts way to much weight on the tests, of which there are on 4 in the whole semester. Do poorly on one, its nearly impossible to get a good final grade.
I had her for actg 157 and 158, and that went ok but her 201 class sucks. You get a ridiculous amount of homework to do and a project due at the end. It's only a 1 hr course but she treats like a 3 hr course. Take it when you have plenty of time and avoid her if at all possible
Hard teacher. Doesn't take attendance but I recommend making it to every session. She doesn't seem to have a lot of trust in her students. I would avoid this teacher if possible.
Hard teacher. Doesn't take attendance but I recommend making it to every session. She doesn't seem to have a lot of trust in her students. I would avoid this teacher if possible.
She doesn't teach the material very well. She teaches the subject very slowly but the actual test material is harder than what she makes it seem like. Make sure you always bring a calculator and attend class. She doesn't put much trust in her students no matter what grade you have in the class.
she definitely could do a lot better of a job. We've only had 2 tests this semester in her ATG 158 class and we've had 3 "speaker reflection" papers worth ten points each, so if you miss a point on any of those it can really affect your grade.
be prepared to teach yourself everything. She is a moron and is completely absorbed in catching people cheating. If she spent half as much time teaching as she does trying to bust people cheating, she might be a satisfactory teacher. Take Wayvon.
Not too hard as long as you go to class. She goes out of her way to help students, and is always available. Highly recommend
As long as you go to class and listen, you can get an A. Its time consuming for the 5 weeks that there is class, but she is available for help. I love this teacher!
easy going
First off she is not a doctor, she does not have her PhD. Her BA is in Business Administration, so one might be lead to ask the question why is she teaching Accounting? The answer to that question still eludes me. I learned nothing from this Class. You would be better off buying the book and reading it yourself. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
she is not a teacher. she is an accountant who shows power points and tests you on them. avoid
She is not very good. I struggled to get a b in the class. I would wait a semester to take 158 so I wouldnt have to take her.
Class was difficult, but did learn alot. Have to go to class, and preparing ahead a time helps alot. Test make you think alot. Have to like her teaching style, if you do then you will like her. Make sure you do the assignments and the quizes.
For how easy the class is she doesn't offer but 5% of the class as homework and only 3 exams. She grades very horribly. If you miss a test you are screwed, because unless you were in the hospital because of surgery or something major you can't retake it. Even if you have a doctors note.
Most of the faculty are pretty understanding and trusting of their students. Johnson is the exception. She does not see any point of view than her own; which is that of an accountant, not a teacher. She talks down to the class, and it is almost as if she has a power high over them.During the tests she goes out of her way to see if students cheat
She is a nice teacher. She likes to bring in lots of fun and interesting examples to demonstrate how what we're learning fits into the real world. Her tests can be difficult only if you don't read or attend classes regularly.
I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. She is just a bad person. I am an athlete and she does nothing but pick on athletes for being "dumber" than the "real" students
An accountant, not a teacher. I was disgusted that we paid for the book that was our class project, and never received the class project back from her. Good luck with Ms. Shondra Johnson.
I personally need some time to think during tests. I felt the tests were too long for the 50 min we had to complete them and I wasn't the only one in my class who had to turn in a test before they were finished due to the time limit being reached.
Good teacher. Tries her best to explain everything. Notes given in class are good. Tests are "Ok".
Not quite sure why there is so much negativity. She explains everything very well and is always willing to help. Attendance is mandatory because the tests are somewhat difficult. But otherwise, Shondra is the real deal!
She is a very nice lady, but for some reason kinda intimidating. To get on her good side sit in the front and participate in class. She really appreciates that. The first test was so easy, but after that, they got hard. I ended up getting an A, so it's definitely possible to do well in the class. I would recommend her, but there are better teachers
I have taken Shondra for both 157 and 158. I've really enjoyed her classes. She's organized, gives good lectures, is funny, and gives some extra assignments for more points in the class rather than just tests. She's always open to questions; read the material, go to class, do a bit of studying and you'll be fine. I really recommend her.
She was not bad, but I felt I had to learn a lot of the material on my own because she went through the material quite fast. Most of the homework is not mandatory, but she will occasionally assign a reading that you will have to write a short response to. Test difficulty varied.
She would rather make you feel stupid than actually teach you something. But if you just look past it, class isn't too bad.
I had a good accounting class in high school so this class wasn't too bad. Other people who didn't have previous accounting had a harder time. She encourages you to get help from other sources before asking her and could make you feel kind of stupid when you ask her. Overall it wasn't a bad class though.
Johnson is a nice person but not a good teacher. Her explanations are not clear which make it hard for those who need the class for a minor that has nothing to do with Accounting. Thank god for other paper assignments, its what helped me pass! I'm normally an A student but got a C in her class. I do not recommend her.
Major B. Doesn't like to help her students, and is over all a bad teacher.
Overall good teacher. If you do everything she asks of you, you will leave this class with a strong understanding of the material. I'm on my way to an easy A. Stay focused and do the assignments.
Shondra's a good teacher. As long as you go to class most of the time, and read the book you'll be fine. She does online exercises that give you a ton of easy points if you just do them. She picks on students when they're not paying attention, but it's not terrible. Could have easily gotten an A if I spent a little more time studying for the exams.
Shondra is a good teacher, but you have to read the textbook! There are a lot of easy online points that help cushion your grade. Study and you will be fine!
She has a very smug attitude. Goes out of her way to ridicule students and make them feel inferior. I suggest you find another prof.
shondra is an interesting teacher. going to class is essential to getting the grade you want, and do the online activities that correspond to each chapter. definitely helps when you have taken an accounting class prior to her class. she is pretty strict on test taking. if you put in the work, then you will get the grade you want.
She is a fairly clear professor. There are weekly writing assignments that are easy as long as you follow the criteria. Exams are difficult to study for, but if you study all the assigned book problems for each chapter you will get an A. She makes zero exceptions with anything stay on her good side. Put forth effort and you will do well.
Shondra follows the book very well and truly wants her students to do well. She will care for you if you care for your studies. If you skip class regularly, good luck. A few here in there is not bad though. In class she will either go through the chapter or do class/partner examples. There's 3 tests + final. The multiple choice part can be tricky.
Most of the class is filled with busywork and mundane activities that don't actually teach the material very well. She helped me to decide to not even pursue a minor in business administration simply due to this class.
I took 157 with her, so I decided to take 158 with her 2nd semester. She's a tough grader. Her tests are based off lectures and are very specific. I wouldn't take another class from her if I had the option, but it's not the worst thing in the world. 158 is easier than 157. Each week you write business reports which really helps your grade.
Great professor. Must read the chapter before attending class to understand the material and to participate in class.
Hands down the worst professor at Bradley. She puts herself on a pedestal and looks down at every student. I have never met a more condescending person or have I ever been in a class where 90% of the students openly talk about how much they despise her teaching style. She will laugh in your face if you have a question.
Teacher treats this class as if it is a high school course, enjoys laughing at students, and does a very poor job teaching the class. I am an accounting major and refuse to take another course with her.
If you enjoy studying for an endless amount of time and still getting a bad grade, this class is for you. I am an accounting major and she has honestly made me want to switch my major so many times. The exam is compromised of 25 pointless and difficult multiple choice questions that barely show what you have learned. Would not recommend this class.
She is a nice lady, but if you don't have any ATG background, I recommend taking another teacher. Her exams are difficult. If you are an athlete, don't take this course. She doesn't accept absences of any kind, even if it is for a university sanctioned event or game.
I know a lot of people don't like Shondra, but I really enjoyed her class. She can be a little rude to the students that don't try, but if you do try in her class, there's no reason she shouldn't like you. She isn't a hard grader either, in my opinion. Overall, I really enjoyed her class (158 and 157) and I would take a class with her again.
Shondra isn't as bad as portrayed on here. The textbook for the class is very helpful and is mainly where I learned most of the information. She gives out handouts which are similar to exam problems. It's helpful to do the practice items and weekend assignments; they will help you in the long run. You could do worse
For a lot of people, it's kind of a hit or miss with her. For me, I loved her. I had her for both 157 and 158 and easily did well. She really cares about everyone succeeding and wants you to do well. Get on her good side, attend class, read, and you should be just fine.
If you like being tutored and working very hard just to fail and drop this class, then she is perfect for you.
Professor Johnson's class is not for everyone. If you have no knowledge of accounting before this class, you will need to be studying a lot. This is because she doesn't take time helping your brain wrap around the core of accounting in class. But, she is also very open to communicating outside of the class because of emails and office hours.
this was literally the worst class I have ever taken. I had a 3.8 GPA before this class and I took notes and tried my hardest and SERIOUSLY tried, only to be ridiculed when I was visibly frustrated in class. and then CORONA happened and she expected us to know everything and do everything the same way as if we were on campus. she's the worst.
Please don't take this class with Shondra, no matter how hard you work for this class you'll never get the grade you wish to have. Worst teacher ever
Worst experience I've ever had with a professor. I once asked her for help before a test and she replied with "I'm busy today, can you get a tutor?" She was not willing to work with me at all or help me for that matter. We had class maybe once a week or every other week. I do not recommend. If you can, get a different professor for accounting.
ummm DO NOT take shondra. she would literally throw plastic beans at us when we got the answer right cause that makes sense? she also had the HARDEST tests I have ever taken in my life. SAVE YOURSELF AND TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
I really think accounting is not hard but she makes this class overly complicated. We only meet once or twice a week. I felt like I was resorting to teaching the material myself bc she doesn't well and we don't meet often. The tests are difficult which is fine, but she should actually learn to be a better teacher. Take a different professor.
She boast to much about her career and her achievements in the beginning of the school year. Homework takes 2 hours to work on it. Class is very book heavy. Test writing activities are harder than the basic examples given in class. Forces students to go back over and reread the book. Not to visual and hands on learners in class.
I enjoyed Shondra's ATG157 class. There is a good amount of work to be done outside of class, but it's more time consuming than difficult. As long as you put the time into the homework assignments and show up to class, you'll understand the material and do well on the exams which are the majority of your grade. I am taking her again this semester.
I had Shondra in Fall 2020 but decided to post now as a public service to everyone at Bradley. I'm an Accounting major, I've always had a relatively good understanding of the subject and enjoyed it. Never in my life have I had a professor overcomplicate a basic 100 level course more than Shondra. If possible, take 157 with any other professor.
Although Shondra is a tough grader, you really do learn a lot from this class. If Accounting comes easy to you or if it's your major I highly recommend taking her when you can. You have to work for your grade, but overall, I think she's a great professor and really wants you to learn and understand accounting.
she's the worst
A lot of work for a beginner course, you're going to have to put your head down and work hard. Not a lot of good study materials that she gives out, kinda leaves you on your own.
ATG 157 & 158 are both required for all business majors to establish a core understanding of the two main focuses of accounting. 157 is objectively harder but Shondra makes 158 seem incomprehensible. No in class examples reflect the test examples & no matter how much you study (syllabus says 12hrs/week) she enjoys throwing curve balls on the tests.
Shondra isn't as bad as people make her out to be. IMO she's a very nice lady but bad teacher, she's just awful at explaining things. The textbook is very helpful, if you take good notes you'll be fine. Be prepared to work your butt off and study for tests. Attend office hours and participate in class and you'll get on her good side.
When you ask her a question she just dosent answer it or tells you to look at canvas.
This was a terrible class. I normally am a good student, though Shondra was not helpful. Her tests were nothing like what she taught in class. Be prepared to teach yourself. If you can I recommend taking ANY other teacher or take it at your local community college and save some money so you don't sign up for the class and drop. GOOD LUCK
Terrible. You have no idea what material/very specific questions will show up on most of the tests. Spent a lot of time studying subjects she told us to go over just for it to not show up on the test or for only a part of it to equate to one multiple choice question out of 30+. Friends in ATG-157 with different professors did not experience this.
Had a hard time understanding her explanations. Very exam heavy
Terrible professor, be prepared to fail if you choose her. She's not helpful whatsoever and doesn't care for her students. Doesn't provide slides, only gives out quizlet definitions and no study guide so you don't know what you're studying for. Her tests are 80% while homework is only 10% of your grade which makes no sense.
Shondra's class can be a real challenge, but using tools like unstuck study alongside the textbook can make a big difference. Stay engaged and you'll get through it.
The class moves really fast with a LOT of online homework/readings. Shondra lectures about small irrelevant topics instead of explaining the key foundations of the chapter.
