Prof. Ohlbaum is the best professor in Baruch. Very interesting class. A short journal a week and couple papers based on reading, one group and one individual presentation.She would lead you become a better person with a way to think and act. take her. Highly recommenced.

Loved this professor, I wasn't surprised that she got the "red-hot chilli pepper" The class is easy if you read the books and do your papers. She teaches at Columbia too so be prepared to be educated! She's totally understanding if you hand in work "a little" late, but definitely don't take advantage!

Truly is one of the best classes I took all semester. We basically talked about our conflicts and she taught us how to properly deal with it. Really interesting class, down-to-earth, and is VERY intent on helping her students. Try not to take advantage or else she will let you know when you're pissing her off. I promise you won't regret taking her.

I absolutely loved this class. She is so informative and warm which makes giving the speech all that much easier. The speech topics are fun and flexible and she gives you helpful feedback. One journal entry at the end of the class but everything else is light worked.

Prof Ohlbaum is very helpful and understanding. Most importantly she's genuine and wants to help you. Very knowledgeable and doesn't mind sharing her own life experiences to get a point across. Love that about her.

Her voice is captivating like a siren. Not a police siren but those mermaid sirens as you transcend to nirvana when you sit in her class. They say she can give birth to doves and help your dreams in public speaking take flight. As she talks, the eyes of all eager students are on her. She is not just a professor... but a reincarnation of a goddess.

She will do whatever she needs to do to get you to come out of your shell. Whether it's teasing you mercilessly or calling you out in class. Roll your eyes all you want (I didn't) but you will share. She will have her away and in the end you WILL learn and be better for it. Doesn't hurt that she is extreeeemely hot...there I said it..Ha!

She was my favorite professor this semester. She was very helpful and gave great advice. She's so sweet and encouraging! As long as you try, she will pass you, but if you constantly miss class, don't get angry if you get a lower grade. Plus, she's the coolest prof at Baruch! Take her!

This is so much more then your typical class at Baruch or any college. I am so happy that I took this class you will learn more about your self and others she will teach you things that would have taken you years to learn. Professor Ohlbaum is great. I was dreading this class, but it turned out to be a nice experience. She's quite helpful and understanding. There's six speeches and a paper, but most of the speeches were not that difficult. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! I received more out of this class than I can ever imagine. Professor Ohlbaum is truly effective in getting to the rawest of conflict and emotions. I wish I had other opportunities to take her. An A isn't impossible, but you're gonna work for it. The best class I've ever taken in college, period!

Professor Shoshana is an excellent communicator on how you need to improve to do better in her class. She helps you by giving extremely helpful constructive criticism. The assignments and book she assigns are a road map to receiving good grades.

Shoshana is amazing! Unlike most professors Shoshana gives constructive criticism as opposed to bashing your speech entirely. Shoshana tells you what parts of your speech went well and what needs work. Definitely recommend if you're looking to really improve your public speaking skills. This will be a class you actually look forward to going to!

The best professor I have had in Baruch. There is work to be done, but it all comes with a purpose. She does not only teach about various topics, but she puts them in practice during class. She's honestly an amazing professor. You don't even have to worry about grades (she's an easy grader) and can just focus on improving your public speaking skills. She gives back helpful comments and tells you exactly what you need to improve. No textbook necessary. I highly recommend her.

College should be about a different experience, and Professor Ohlbaum is one of the few teachers to realize so. She goes beyond giving boring lectures, and engages with students instead on personal levels. While extremely engaging, this class teaches you things to carry on for the rest of your life, and not something you will forget next semester.

I'm a communication studies minor and to be honest, I was very nervous to take COM 4900. When I walked into Prof. Ohlbaum's summer course I realized very quickly that this class was going to be a NO BS class. Very engaging lectures, a few papers and most importantly, a genuine understanding of how to deal with Conflict correctly.

This was the best class I took during my time at Baruch college. She is an amazing professor and you will use everything she teaches you once you leave Baruch. This class was basically a therapy session, but it was not the warm and cuddly kind. She has a no nonsense style and she will get down to the core of your problems and help you fix them.

She might seem like a tough cookie but she isnt. I liked her at the end. If you do whatever she says and dont argue with her you will get an A or A- for sure.

Prof. Ohlbaum seemed difficult throughout the course, especially on the 1st day. It was only because she wanted to challenge the class into acting more responsibly. In fact, not only was her Conflict Resolution such an easy class, I also learned life-time lessons such as not judging people from her. No in-class exams/quizzes, just 4 simple papers.

Shoshana is THE most incredible professor I have had in my entire life! She thoroughly gets to know each student, pinpoints their communication flaws, and guides them to work on their specific issues to help them become the best they can be. It may sound silly at first but if you put in even a little effort this professor will change your life!

Professor Ohlbaum is like a chihuahua with a smart phone. She is all bark and no bite and writes all of her comments on her phone and sends them in an email. Even though it looks like she is texting her friends ;) The class is very interesting and she helps you a lot! Her feedback for your speeches is also very good. Would take again!

There are many assignments but they are doable so if you do whatever she tells you to do, you will definitely get an A. She is one of the best professors at Baruch so take her!!!!

Professor Ohlbaum's COM 1010 class is not only helpful for public speaking, but also it is very easy. After every speech, she gives you constructive criticism, which helps you improve yourself, and she's also not a harsh grader at all. If you can read off of your paper, make eye contact with the audience, and do it well, you will get an easy A.

She's very passionate, chill, and sarcastic. You have to take this class with an open mind because you will get a mental beat down for the better. Attendance and participation matters, 1 group presentation, 3 papers, and lots of class discussions. You'll have lots of fun. She cancels class superrrrrrrr last minute though.

She is a real beautiful person, she has a great heart and really makes you want to become a better person. If you put the work in I promise you, you will learn a lot from her and become a better person. She's very tough but tough love is needed, especially when dealing with ones own flaws. Don't let her size fool you--she's still intimidating.

She has a raw teaching style, which you will love and hate. She gives it to you straight, you will drink that tough love, and swallow it. Once you have fully digested it all you will understand her intentions. Her lectures can be emotional (a few have cried). This class takes self-awareness to a new level. Start that 20pg capstone paper early!

One group presentation which is fairly graded. 3 papers( start them early ). I loved her class and her personality is amazing! Very funny and open minded. If you can stomach the self help kool-aid, you will be rewarded with a truly caring professor. The class was essentially group therapy for solving conflicts in your life. She makes you sit in a circle and talk about your feelings. She gets in your face and you will be uncomfortable at times. In the end, I grew to like her and appreciate her lessons

This is the only class I have ever taken that I actually enjoyed and got something out of. She is an amazing professor and in the beginning, the class can be intimidating but she makes the environment safe where everyone can share and be vulnerable. BEST COM 1010 PROFESSOR OUT THERE. IF AVAILABLE, MUST TAKE. As long as you do all 5 speeches, you will get a guaranteed A. I am not a good public speaker at all, and I still got an A in the class. She is very upfront and honest however, and this may come across as rude to some. If you have an incredibly high ego, maybe avoid her, or just suck it up

Best professor Ive had so far, yes her class was a bit easy but she understands students and she wants to teach not punish you. Don't take her just because its an easy class take her because her lectures will change your life. Trust the process and you'll be a better human once you are finished with the class. she also cares a lot about students.

This Professor is AMAZING! Shes easy going and very straightforward. From the start she tells you what she expects from you, clear syllabus, great feedbacks and is always available via email. We had 3 presentations and a final paper. If all Professors were as invested as her, Baruch would be a better place. 10/10

I want to say that this professor is fantastic! Very intimidating and scary first 2 classes. By end of semester, youll be wondering why were you so scared lol. Very caring and helpful. Class is basically a group session of answering a question(s) about the theme of the week. No work besides 2 self reflection papers based on reading. So many life lessons learned here and the class felt so unique
