Great teacher! In many classes, I am able to teach myself out of the book, but I find that the book we use is not always very clear. Fortunately, Ms. Kumar's lectures are very good. In just a matter of minutes listening to her I can understand concepts that seem absurdly complicated in the textbook. She engages students really well too.

I totally agree with the previous poster. I missed one class and tried to understand the material from the textbook. It was a nightmare. She is very clear in her lectures. She is also very helpful and friendly.

Shruti is a top-notch instructor! She has numerous analogies and demos for all mat'l. She is concerned and enthusiastic. Class time is used for constructive examples and many problems done on the board. Even the conference is full of more problems, so you are extremely prepared for tests. Great teacher! In High School I had a bad experience with Physics and hated it but she turned it around and made me love it. Very clear, easy to understand lectures. Very nice person.

Her grading policy is terrible. She says that homework is worth about 30% of your grade, well consider it worth more. 10 pts mean A LOT in her class. She gives the hw assignments to a grader and the grader usually does a bad job. Usually picky on steps and where you derive the equations from. Terrible! Try to avoid taking her as much as possible!

Prof Kumar is everything a teacher should be. She is always willing to help (she once helped me while walking to her car!)She has the ability to simplify the material and present it in a very clear and concise way. Her class is a lot of fun and I learned a lot. She gives 14 homeworks and 2 exams. Very approachable and a real sweetheart.

I agree she is one of the best teachers at CCSF. I took Physics 41 with her and then the 4A lab. She is very kind and generous with her time. super like this instructor. it is a hard class if you have no physics background but it prepares you well for the next 4a class. i did well on homework and tests and showed up to conference and got an A. if you have trouble understanding something just go to her office. she will make sure you understand it before you leave her office. kind lady.

Unfortunately, this teacher took maternity leave while I was in her class so I only had her for around a month or so and then saw her again for the final exam, but she was great while I had her! She was very animated and friendly, and she encouraged us to do our best. She's fond of the subject, and I'm sure a *full* semester with her would be good.

Ms Kumar is an outstanding teacher. I took Physics 2A and 2AC. Weekly homework, quizzes and conference. Exams were not easy but not insanely hard either. She is very helpful and answers questions even when its not office hours. Very articulate explanations and seems passionate about physics. Take her by all means.

My favorite profesor. I had her for 3 courses.. She lectures very nice. Simplifies concepts. I had her for 4a lab too and learned a lot. Not the easiest prof but surely the nicest. Her open office hours are big help. She even did online help session one day before the exam.

Shruti is hands down the best instructor I had for a science class. Super friendly and never makes you feel dumb unlike some other professers. She engaged us in class very well with lots of demos. Loving this class so far. After a heart-wrenching experience with Physics 4A I was petrified about taking 4B. Prof Kumar does a great job simplifying abstract concepts. Homework due every 10 days or so. Homework is hard but she offers a LOT of help. Easy to score 100 on homework. Quizzes are easy if you study. Overall this is a great class.

Awesome instructor. No tricks, straight forward grading, exams are exactly what she describes them to be, does everything in the world to help you pass. Plus, she's fun, energetic, approachable, and helpful. Don't be scared of the calculus in this class, it's very basic. She tests you on the physics, not the math. Know the physics, pass the class.

Prof Kumar is one of the best teachers at CC. She sets the bar high and helps you get there. Fun lively lectures. Very nice on the eyes guys. This class made me want to switch my major to Physics! Lectures are a good mix of chalkboard and ppts (her board work is so good she should really switch to all chalkboard). I'm a bad test taker and my midterm grade was a C even though I understood most of the material. Shruti worked with me in the second half of the semester and helped me redo all my incorrect homework problems and my final grade went up to a B! Shruti Kumar is the best physic professor I've ever taken at our school. The homework is sometimes difficult. It takes me hours to finish 5 questions everyweek. The exams are straightforward and not hard.

Shruti made this class very interesting. The topics can be hard and vague to a point. She brings fun to learning and makes it doable. One of the most engaging professors I have had. 12 homework assignments, 4 exams, 4 quizzes, lots of help. Her classes fill up fast so make sure you sign up on day 1.

I took lab with Prof Kumar after a friend recommended her. She explains the material very clearly and helps with errors. She had 14 labs and 2 exams. Pre labs are online and she lets you have two attempts. She also helped me with lecture stuff. Helpful and fun.

Homework is due every 1-2 weeks. She let us make up homework so I scored 100% on homework and bumped up my grade. She also moves the quiz if you cant take it as scheduled. Be prepared to work hard. Its physics 4b! Lol

4B is hella hard! The textbook is hard to understand. Attend class if you want to pass. Kumar broke down concepts and made it doable. Homework and conference helps A LOT! Lectures were prettt engaging. She has buddy quizzes in lecture which help me stay focused. Study conferences and hw to prepare for tests.

Professor Kumar has been a wonderful instructor. She takes the time to ensure that the class understands the concepts being taught & tested. She is very approachable and always helps with questions,notnecessarily with the answer, but more how to determine the answer or the tools needed to find the answer. I'm taking 4B with her right now and it is sooo much better than my 4A experience. She is so organized. Clearly explains material. We just got our first exam back and the class averaged at 80%. Fair exam, lots of homework, super accommodative. Review integrals before taking. Great class so far!

I have really enjoyed Kumar's class! She is engaging, upbeat and very knowledgeable. My only criticism is that I find Canvas annoying although she helps a lot with it. The units on Canvas drove me crazy. Overall, I would highly recommend her as an instructor.

My first online lab experience. I enjoyed it. Warning this is an online class and you have to be self motivated. Kit is available in the bookstore. Instructor made herself very available and responded to emails within the hour. I learned a cool software that I use to see my skateboard motion now. Wish she taught 4B lab too. Hating it lol

Online lab. At first the class was frustrated with the lack of communication/confusion about the labs but SHE HEARD US OUT! Ever since we gave her feedback she made the labs so much clearer. She cares about her students and WANTS you to do well. Midterm test took 30 min, easy and straight forward. Be motivated to do the labs on your own time!

Tests don't count as much for this course and are easier than the homework or conference problems! She teaches and assigns more of the basic problems and concepts of the electromagnetism. A lot of your grade is homework, conference attendance and quizzes <- this part is very easy to get. Then comes to exams, some of it was difficult, but she gives a lot of partial credit for trying. I like teachers who give partial credit. She is an amazing teacher, take her! No regrets!

Shruti Kumar is an awesome teacher. This is my first physics class and the subject doesnt come easily to me. However,Shruti makes the subject as clear as possible and goes out of her way to make some students understand the material. She is always available and eager to help. I was worried about taking a lab online. The experience was pretty good. Videos and instructions are posted on Canvas every week. I found her videos helpful. Whenever I was stuck I just emailed her and she responded right away. We used a cool program to analyze videos and I am doing some fun analysis with my bike over break.

If you cant succeed in Kumars class you can give up on college. She lets you make up homework, moves test dates if you have multiple exams, lets you take online quizzes at your convenience. Basically she wants you to succeed. If you miss class she will even go over the material with you. she is the most considerate and flexible professor.

while I liked 4a this class made me switch my major to physics. very enjoyable class with clear explanations of challenging topics. practice a lot of problems to get a good grade on exam.

Ok so an online lab is scary. Lots of self motivation needed but SHE MAKES IT DOABLE. Her videos and PDFs are helpful. Some labs are more difficult and she has videos for procedures. I struggled with excel stuff for graphing and she walked me through it step by step via email. Difficult class being an online lab but good teacher

Want an A? Do all your homework until you get 100 percent, go to every conference, ace all three online quizzes and study conferences and notes well for exams. Lectures are engaging. Professor Kumar is kind and accommodating.

Im not a big fan of online courses. If you like online courses she is a good choice. She has a clear grading policy and clear notes and instructions. Course consists of 14 labs over the semester and two exams. She raises the bar high but helps you get there.

this was the hardest class I have taken. Physics with calculus is hella hard. requirement for UCB so I had to take it. go to office hours of Professor and lac tutoring for help.

I completely bombed her first exam and was literally in tears in her office. She patiently went through my entire exam with me and gave me tips and strategies for the next exam. She also checked in with me multiple times. It made me so much better on the next exams. I would have dropped 4B and all my plans of being an engineer if not for Ms Kumar..

The dreaded 4B! Expect to use derivatives, integrals and some differential equations toward the end. Mostly integrals. She also focused a lot on concepts. About a third of the exam was concept and two third problem solving. Clear outlines on what to expect on the exam makes it relatively easy. Excited for 4C to!

Aside from homework I loved everything about this class. Professor Kumar is clear and organized. Exams count for 35% rest of the grade is hw , quizzes and conference. She is caring and pays attention to our needs unlike many science professors

My bf had her for 4B and highly recommended her. So I took her for 4A as well as 41 and loved her class. Tight and clean explanations of complex concepts. I have her for 4B this semester. I will update my review after.

Clear explanations with a genuine interest in connecting with students makes this prof a solid choice. Lab manual is not very helpful so make sure to be on time to catch prof's explanation and instructions of the lab.

Im one of the chosen students who ended up having to take this class during COVID19 lol. Best class with how smoothly it transitioned to online. Prof Kumar is very flexible and understanding. I feel Im still learning unlike some other classes. I miss her in class lectures as she made the topics come to life. Exams are easy if you study.

Ok 4B is hard. period! Homework due once every 1.5 weeks doable. 3 Quizzes and 4 exams. LOTS of work. Shruti is flexible and bends over backwards to accomodate. Also very responsive and helpful outside the class.

Online classes are hard and online labs are even harder. Course expectations were laid clearly. 1 lab due every week and post on forum. The teacher is kind and empathizes with students. I needed extensions for 6 out of 13 labs and she obliged. She also held 1-1 online help conference for me to find errors in my calculations. Labs were fun too

I took Physics with Shruti when I was on the pre med track. I transferred to UCB and Physics was a breeze thanks to this class. She explains things clearly and is friendly and approachable. I think of her and Physics every time I ride en elevator :)

When I got the Intro Vid from the professor I was super scared about having so many tests. Now I like it coz Im kinda forced to be on top of it. Prof is super communicative and is available for help every day including weekend. Class has weekly homework and tests. Lots of work but its Physics so expect it lol.

One lab a week so it is nice that you have the whole week. There is a pre lab quiz and group collaboration required so its a lot of work. She responds very fast and is available for help outside class if you schedule it - something I appreciate because I work full time. This is remote lab not sure how it is in person

As someone who's already has a bachelor's degree in a different discipline she is for sure the #1 professor I've had out of all the professors I've encountered so far. Thanks Professor Kumar if you ever read this.

Ok so this is an asynchronous class. Professor makes herself available to help at all times even though this is an asynchronous class. She has regular scheduled Help Sessions for every chapter and homework. Incredibly helpful really! The textbook is fun to read and has tons of examples. Lecture videos are clear and helpful. I have an A currently.

Professor Kumar is so human! I had a brutal situation at home and almost gave up on this semester. Professor Kumar emailed me herself to check on me and helped me get back on track. I owe her so much. I dunno if you read this but thank you Professor.

Nice and caring professor. We had two exams and a Final. Exams were medium difficult. The homework took a long time. She will extend deadlines if she knows you are genuinely trying. Don't hesitate to ask her if you have a real situation.

Ok we haven't had our first exam yet so may be I should wait lol. So far this is my favorite and most difficult class. Professor Kumar is clear in what she expects. Homework and quiz after every chapter. I attend all her office hours and then some. She is available for appointments on Zoom for help.

Prof has clear videos and instructions about what to do for labs. There is one lab due every week. It takes me about 2 hours per lab plus collaborating. Not too bad. She gave the first midterm exam last week and I thought it was fair. Everything on the exam was covered in class. The only thing I don't like is the group collaboration part.

We had one lab every week and two exams. Every lab has a video with instructions about the lab. She was very accesible via email/office hours/canvas totally helped with the class. I have had lots of problems with delay in response from other online instructors so I appreciate that Prof Kumar makes herself available.

This was by far the most structured online class Ive taken. The Prof had reading material and videos to watch every week. Chapter tests made me stay on top of the material. I think I have an A. Just make sure your on top of the schedule and go to office hours if you need help

I'm on the Pre-Med track and Physics is the scariest thing for me. This class helped me so much. The lectures were engaging and the teacher was always organized. The homework was my least favorite part. Some questions were super hard and I ended up in office hours every week for help. Exams were easier than Homework. I feel ready for the MCATs

I'll start with I hate online classes especially ones that do not involve live lecs. That said I thought this class was structured well. Expect to spend 3-4 hours weekly. Every lab has a video by the teacher explaining how to do the lab in addition to a pdf of instructions and a file to record data. There is also a pre lab due every week. Also one midterm and a final. Not too bad but you have to stay on top of the schedule.

I liked the interactive lectures a lot and also that you get multiple tries on homework.

I took the 4A lab course with Prof Kumar last semester. She had clear instructions and vidoes for every lab. One lab was due every week. We had two exams both of which were very fair. I think this was one of the best classes I have had at CC

I like that she is flexible and gives extra attempts on homework if you need it. She has recordings of her lectures available but it is better to attend the live lectures. This class is very well organized. The topics are harder than Physics 2A

Ok I took this lab in a different school with a different prof last semester and was a disaster. This course at CCSF is the opposite. The labs are well laid out and I actually know what I am doing! Exams count for a lot of the grade dislike that part lol. She has us work in groups and asks that we use Canvas but she is ok with Discord thankfully.

I took Physics 2A and 2B with Prof Kumar. The classes were super organized. Lecture recordings were posted for every lecture. If you are a busy student with a job having recordings is great. Homework is doable with office hours help from prof and the class Discord.

Great professor all around. Online exams were daunting for me. She gives partial credit if you upload work. So make sure your showing all your steps and uploading it. It boosted my grades. Also go to office hours for homework.

One of the best Physics professors at CCSF. She really tries her best to teach students. Everything we studied according to her guidance were helpful on exams.

I wish we had more professors like Prof Kumar. All material was clearly laid out on Canvas and conveyed during lectures. She used Pronto to answer questions any time. Labs were kinda fun. She is also a very kind person

I took Professor Kumar for 2A and 2B. She is very organized in Canvas and has clear grading. Her lectures are great, but the exams are fairly difficult. Despite that, she gives lots of extra credit if you show your work. The homework had easier questions than the exams, so be sure to review the conference questions, which are more comparable.

Attend the live lectures, do the homework, study for tests and you will get a good grade. If your stuck on homework go to office hours or email prof. Homework is 40% of grade so do well on it. She is very helpful. Gives extra attempts if you need. Also very kind and understanding if you are struggling with anything.

One lab per week. There is a Pre lab which is like a short quiz and also the actual lab. I spend 2-3 hours every week on this class.I dislike the group aspect but I can also appreciate why it is there. The convenience of an online lab is pretty cool.

I appreciate how accommodating Dr Kumar is. I have a baby and a job. She has all the lecture recordings available on Zoom. I watch it when I can and her lectures are super helpful. The only time I can take the exams is 6 AM. After I explained my situation, she changed the exams to open at 6 AM. CCSF is helping me get my requirements done!!

Had a 78 on my total grade and the professor emailed me herself to make up some extra work if I wanted to improve my grade!! She genuinely cares and the online lab was great for me as a full-time employee.

I have a degree from UCDavis and I am a returning student pursuing my med degree. Professor Kumar is one of the best teachers I have had in my entire student life. Instructions were clear and expectations were fair. I spent the most time on homework. Conferences were helpful. Office hours are on Zoom. Quizzes were harder than exams imo.

This is second semester with Dr Kumar. Lectures are on the Zoom. I like her teaching style. Homework is weekly. She has office hours and Pronto. She is a good professor.

Labs are easy and kinda fun and you get to work in a group. I took my first exam today and I was worried it would be hella hard. It wasn't too bad. Mostly multiple choice questions and some long answer questions.

This class was online with live lectures by Dr Kumar as oppose to videos. It was good to have interaction and was also good to have the recordings to rewatch for homework and exams.

She is professional and helpful. Turn in your labs on time and make sure you have units and uncertainties on everything. Exams are in the lab classroom and pretty easy if you did the labs right.

Ms. Kumar's lab is very convenient. Highly recommend taking this over the in-person lab for convenience. Her lab manuals, although a bit dated, are very thorough and she also posts videos on how to do the labs. My only gripe is that this lab is almost a week ahead of the lectures which are taught by another professor.

Kind professor with good lectures. Do all the homework and conference problems and you will do fine.

Professor spent an hour on Zoom with me over the weekend helping me with the material before my final. Kind and caring prof. Submit your work for the exams. She gives a lot of partial credit which Canvas does not.

This was a good online lab. We did one lab every week. Each lab had a pre lab quiz, videos and lab to be done. Have to get a kit from the library which is free. Watch her videos for sure and go to office hours if you have questions. I had a B on the first exam and an A on the second exam and ended up with an A in the class.

I took 2A& 2B/L w/ Professor Kumar. She made physics easier to understand than other professors I've taken (have bachelors from ucsc). There is weekly HW, there are quizzes. She gives partial credit on the MIDTERMS so show work! She holds OHs regularly so make sure you go& ask questions. Attend lecture& engage & you'll do great. She's the best :)

Great class! Lectures are very good and she is also available for office hours whenever needed. Homework is the hardest part in the class but she will give you more tries if you need it.

I am not very comfortable with Trig so this class has been hard for me. The professor helps me a lot and schedules extra help hours on zoom. I appreciate her patience and willingness to help. I wish I had a good Math foundation. The physics is fun. Good class. Take Trig before this class.

Thorough instructions and makes herself available to answer questions anytime. A few students and I have office hours with Prof on Friday nights before lab is due. Fair grader too. I get 9s or 10s on most labs as long as I do everything.

Physics is so hard and yet this is my favorite class this semester. There is a lot of clarity in lectures and also what to expect on exams. Homework counts for a lot in this class and she gives you extra attempts if you ask. She also goes over your work for feedback if you email it to her before submitting on Canvas.

So I have 2 kids and a job. I cannot make it to her office hours. She met with me on Zoom over weekends and late evenings to help me with homework and answer my questions. She genuinely cares. Just do all the homework and study the conferences. I have a B in this class. Hoping for an easy final!

This was my first time ever learning physics and she was able to give me a great foundation for the next levels of physics I will have to do 10/10 recommend.

Very good online lab that uses a physical lab kit. One lab and pre lab due weekly. Professor does not accept late labs but she was so nice to send me an email yesterday and graded a lab that I turned in late because it got me to a B from a C with partial credit. Highly recommend this class if you need online lab. Hope CC offers 4BL online.

She is super organized and very responsive. I took physics 1 at a different college. I wish I had taken it at CCSF with Prof Kumar! This is an online class but you have to be present for lectures which works really well for me personally.

Don't expect an easy class because its online. Labs are pretty fun to do actually although they take me 2-3 hours. Exam was not too bad at all. I do wish she had us working in groups coz that is always better for labs.

I am from Taiwan. Professor is so patient because my English is not good. I go to office hours and professor explain me patiently. I learn physics before but now I learn real physics.

Recommend this if you like online classes. I think she is one of the most responsive professors I had. This class saved me a bunch of time and I took more classes at State

Prof. Kumar's online 4AL lab was super convenient and engaging. The weekly labs were time-consuming but doable if you stay on top of them. unstuck study was a lifesaver for prepping for exams alongside the lab videos.
