She is more than willing to go out of her way to help if you're having troubles. She knows everyone by name and is very personable. I have taken two of her classes.
Very nice professor
She is great. I'm math challenged and yet with her I made an A on every test. You do have to go to class because you get points for it, but I got all the concepts from her lectures and examples, not the book. She cares so much about you understanding and is willing to help whenever you need it. I will never take another math teacher but her.
She is a very nice lady, very personable and she loves to tell us interesting stories about her life in Taiwan. SHe has a very simple, easy-to-understand way of explaining things that makes the class a pleasure to take. I will definitely take a class from her again. Highly reccomended.
fantastic
love her!!
funny .best you can get....math freaks you better take her coz yu never feel intimidated. lots of points for trying n assignments not graded. i lack words for her.superb
Great professor! She will help you out in anyway you need it. She is willing to set up appt. for one on one help. I struggled in other math classes but when I took her she made it easy to understand! A+++++++ teacher!!
Ms. Wang's English is terribly choppy making a difficult subject even harder. You get four grades all year and no make up tests, no matter what (hope you don't have a funeral to attend).Take Math from N. Carpenter, Wang will blow through the math problems dumbfounding the class and then decides to talk about Judge Judy instead of helping her studen
Mrs. Wang is a fantastic teacher! She is very helpful and funny. She is from China so she has alot of stories to tell! Her tests are easy and if you study the review sheet she gives there is no way you couldn't make an A in the class. She can go a bit fast at times, but if you ask her to stop and slow down, she will! She wants you to ask for help!
Awesome and hilarious
She is a nice lady but has terrible ADHD. I didn't like her teaching style and her clarity. Several students in my class didn't pass. If you don't understand Algebra, don't take this from her!
Hard to understand at first but if you come everyday and pay attention it gets easier. She also trys to explain things differently for different types of learners. She is willing to help after class or set an appt up if you don't understand. She is also very funny and one of my favorite teachers so far!
I really regret taking this class from her.She scribbles problems on the board then gets distracted with talking about her flu.She doesn't speak very good english and she talks too fast. She makes no appologies for not caring if you don't understand. She assigns homework problems then makes the test completely different.
She is a really nice lady and seems to care a lot about her students. I thought she was a little hard to follow though. I'm not very good at math anyway but I found that she went to fast. You have to be really careful not to mess up on a test because there aren't many other points. She does not allow make-up test either, for ANY reason.
Awesome teacher!!!!!!! I really understood math and I also learned about Thailand. Homework you do on your own. Main points are in attendance and tests.
I loved her. A few words were hard to understand, but i took college algebra the semester before with Block and got a D.. I got an 86 with Shun. She was extremely helpful. Made math Simple and fun again(compared to Block) I would recommend her to any of my friends. Homework is for practicing, never checked. 4 tests & final. and attendance=1 test+.
She's hard to understand at first but she is full of personality. Grades are based on attendence and tests. She assigns homework but it's your responisbility, she doesn't ask for it. She teaches extremely fast, but her tests are easy.
Excellent instructor. No homework for MA099. Teaches well, in class assignments ensure progress. Accent was a little hard the first couple of days but easily got used to it. Highly recommended. I'd take her again if I weren't transferring.
Amazing teacher. Lively, interesting, very helpful. Best math teacher I've ever had.
I don't get math very well, but I got an A in this class! Her accent takes a day maybe to understand, but I don't think you'll regret taking this teacher!
Shum was an awesome teacher. I have always been bad at math but she is the first teacher that I can actually understand. She also goes out of her way to help. She always makes time to help. There isnt homework in her class either which is awesome. Attendance is imperative for daily points though. I would definitely recommend Shun to anyone.
Mrs. Wang is a amazing teacher, she will go out of her way to make sure that you understand what she is teaching, there is no homework. As long as you don't give up she will help you pass. She is great...you will not find a better math teacher.
Wonderful teacher, best Math teacher I have ever had. I will make sure she is my College Algebra teacher in the Fall.
Super nice and funny. She is awesome! She really cares about all of her students!
Cute little asian mom who cares for her study. Her accent is thick, but she is a joy. Take her for every math you see her name is attached to extremely smart, helpful and kind.
By far the best math teacher I have ever had. I love her accent and she jokes about it. Makes class fun! Definitely taking her next math class!
Shes awesome! Willing to help every student as they need it. Super nice, and funny (tells her funny stories) She makes homework optional, but it helps to do it sometimes. She knows how to explain in so many different ways so that everyone understands the work.
She is amazing at helping you understand any material. She could turn any retard into the rain man. Explains the material in several ways so if you don't understand one, there is another, very nice and answers any question. She also tells many stories about her personal life, but don't let that dissuade you.
Could not understand her very good at all. Had to rely on remembering things from high school and from fellow classmates. Otherwise very friendly
She has a great personality and and great teaching style, some people find it hard to understand her because of her accent but you get used to it pretty quick. Homework is optional but helpful, daily points for attendance and great reviews for the test. Always willing to find time to help if you ask. Shes really funny great sense of humor!
Super interesting and very fun class. I always looked forward to attending her class even tho I don't particularly like math.
Professor Wang is the best math teacher I have ever had! I had her from Elementary through College Algebra. She wants you to do good and as long as you are willing to put forth effort, she will make sure you do good. She is funny also and I always looked forward to attending her class. Just study and work hard! Homework optional but helps!
She ensures that you will succeed. She will teach you the material in more ways than one if you don't understand it the first time. She is very energetic, optimistic, and share s many stories of her own. Don't get distracted by her stories. Stay on task, and you will do well. She gives review sheets and practice problems. Do them.
Great Teacher! She will help you so much, if you only ask. DO NOT wait until it is too late. Calc can be hard, but she taught it in a way that made sense. She will go over the material if you don't understand. You will get the grade you earn. And you get to replace your lowest test score with the final grade- which is probably needed.
She goes by Nancy, she is awesome. Super friendly, funny & helpful!! You take notes daily and then have about 4 tests. I attended class, took notes & got A's on the tests. There is lots of time to work on problems & improve your math skills. If math wasn't your best subject then I would suggest her!
Very nice teacher, likes to tell stories and is quite funny. She tends to go kind of fast, but she will absolutely slow down and help people, you just have to speak up. She makes it very clear on the first day of class that this is calculus and she will not be teaching algebra. Not that she won't help you, but only outside of class.
Prof Wang was wonderful!! She truly works to encourage and support her students in whatever ways she can! Not everyone understands math naturally but you will do well if you, "Practice, Practice, Practice!" Will take her for 116 for sure!!!
Algebra for the win! Excellent teacher. Energetic. So much fun! Makes math class very interesting and enjoyable though she is a bit random. ;) Read book out of class. Take in-class notes. Takes class attendance. You receive an extra 10 points credit for not missing any class. Encourages class teamwork. Her mantra: Practice, practice, practice!!! :)
can be hard to understand due to her accent but she is very thorough and makes sure to show you different ways to get the same answer. encourages you to work with classmates or come to her office. AMAZING teacher, cares about how well you did and whether or not you're ready for college algebra
amazing
she is amazing. really easy to approach for help. assigns homework problems that relates with test. and shows more then one way to do a problem...
She's very sweet. She loves teaching and she is very smart. I hated math, but loved her class. I did have a very hard time understanding her accent.
Great professor, helps anyone that she can. Shun Hwa was by far my favorite professor at JCCC, she is nice and encourages you to understand the material. As a professor, she is very invested in your education. I loved the class and learned a lot.
I LOVE Mrs Wang! She is amazing and very helpful.
She has the most unique way of teaching Math. Whether you go in having any skill or interest, she will make it fun. And if you keep your attendance up and practice you should do great!
This teacher is a nice lady but.. if you struggle with math definitely not recommended. 6 tests, no homework, and a final. Good luck passing LOL.. I studied like everyday, ended up at the end wit a 50%. As most people know, without a basic homework grade some people won't pass. Class is goofy
Mrs. Wang is so much fun. Seriously, I don't think there was a day that I didn't crack up at a story she told. Besides that, she teaches very well, homework is related to classwork, and going to class allows you to participate in her in-class assignments- great way to learn and get points. Take her for college algebra! (And give the accent 2 days.)
Mrs. Wang is a very good teacher. She does have a little bit of an accent, but it is not difficult to get used to. By the second class I was able to understand her just fine. She really wants all the students to succeed, and goes out of her way to help struggling students. Just an all around great teacher!
She is an amazing teacher! I was a little terrified to take calculus, but she made it so easy. She's funny, entertaining, and makes class really enjoyable. She won't do the work for you, and expects you to make some effort... but isn't that kind of the point!? LOVED HER! :)
Very fun way of teaching. Algebra is tough!! She says from the very first day, "You are a college student now. You are responsible for your own learning." She doesn't grade homework, but if you expect to pass you will have to do the homework and study, study, study!!! I looked forward to coming to class! She is a treasure at this school!
SHE WAS AMAZING! Wanted to help she told us her office hours many times and told us that if we need help please come by. It is fast pace but she loves to answer questions. She has great stories to remember how to do problems.
At first I did not like Mrs. Wang. She was confusing, with few examples. I went to the math lab every single day for hours. I love her as a person. Funny, kind, encouraging. On my last test, she gave me 5 extra minutes, got 101101! She wants her students to succeed. But, "You are a college student." Study, grow up, put in your work. Take her! :)
I haven't been to school in four years, and Professor Wang made me feel really at ease! She is super funny, takes time to make sure everyone is on the same page, and gives out candy during tests. She has an accent, which some people have trouble with, but it didn't impact my learning at all.
I took her before for College Alg. & again for Bus. Calc. She is a wonderful teacher. She can be hard to understand, but you'll get used to it. HW is optional but need to do it to understand material (answers are in the back of book). Calc is a hard subject, but she's willing to help in outside of class! She wants to see you pass!
Shun is amazing! Interesting and lively, truly a teacher (and tells great stories). She most wants her students to succeed, with daily reminders of her office hours. A tough class is a tough class, but the professor can make a world of difference (and she really does) but it's still you that has to do the work. You are a college student.
Very happy I took her. I will be hoping she teaches 117 so I can take her again. VERY clear and gives the SIMPLEST forms of answering problems. Her accent was not at all a problem for me. She was very nice and had some funny moments. Perhaps the easiest and most clear math teacher I have ever taken.
Good teacher, But if you struggle in math I would not take her. She has a accent, so that was standing in the way of a good teacher. She talks really fast and sometimes hard to understand. IF YOU ARE NOT A FAST LEARNER IN MATH DO NOT TAKE HER! P.S. you don't need to buy the work book. I did and I never use it
Professor Wang was one of my favorite professors this last semester. She was such a funny, high energy teacher every single day. She cares about each student and wants you to succeed! If you put the work in, you can get an A!
Professor Wang is an amazing College Algebra teacher. She is really good at getting you to understand it. She has a bit of an accent but definitely does not impede understanding the material. As long as you pay attention, ask for help when you need it, and do homework for practice it's an easy A! She is hilarious and makes the class fun. Love her!!
Best math teacher/professor I've ever had in any level of education. Makes everything look easy. Grade is entirely from tests and attendance.
Great teacher. Really enjoyed having her as a professor. Got a 100 or more on every test. Super easy!
Professor Wang was one of the best math professors I have had! She is very funny and tells lots of stories. She understands students and wants everyone to do well. You have to put time in doing homework and studying, if you don't you won't pass. She is a bit of a tough grader, but I would take her again in a heartbeat!
Professor Wang was incredibly nice and funny. She is a great instructor and genuinely cares about your success. She will gladly meet meet with you to go over previous tests or help you. She explains things clearly, and her methods really make things easier. Definitely recommend.
If you need a slower paced class , or you do not plan to take a higher Math courses like Calculus this teacher is not recommended. She is nice, caring, and well liked, but tough on grading. You must be able to take fast notes. There is very little time for questions in class, and she is only accessible during her office hours. Lots of studying.
Really funny professor, just really wished that she didn't grade so tough and rely so much on exams.
Nancy is great. I took college algebra with her and she is the sweetest woman. Couple things you should know however is that if math is not your strongest subject, be prepared to study and do the homework on your own. She makes herself easily accessible if you are having a hard time and is willing to help you succeed.
GO. TO. CLASS. Professor Wang's teaching style is fast paced and if you miss class, you might be left in the dust. She assigns homework but doesn't require that you do it. I highly recommend that you do the homework nonetheless or else you won't pass the class.
Shun Hua brings so much energy to the classroom every day and was a joy to spend time with! I already took college algebra in high school, so it was a breeze for me, but she doesn't require you to learn things that are only needed for calculus so if college algebra is your last math class I'd recommend. She has an accent but its easy to get used to
Professor Wang is excellent at teaching. She shows you how to do everything in preparation for tests. Study guides are just like the test. She also gives extra credit on her tests of questions from past tests. There are daily points for coming to class but grades are mostly test based. Study the review sheets!!Excellent choice for a last math class
If you don't know your multiplication table I would know them before taking this class. Do the homework she assigns for practice she is hilarious and funny. I like the way she teaches. You will have about five tests so far I haven't done good just because of my multiplication. Knowing your multiplication table is critical. She grades mostly tests.
One of my favorite teachers! Test heavy, but she gives you a great study guide that helps you pass with ease. "Just practice practice practice!"
Professor Wang is amazing!! She has you take your own notes and walks through the section with you. She teaches through examples and shows you different ways to solve each problem. She is very good at what she does. I learn best by examples and if you do too you will succeed in her class. The test are very easy and there can be bonus points too.
She is so nice and caring but this class was tough for me. If you aren't naturally good at math I wouldn't take her. She goes really fast and it's hard to keep up at times. Her class is also very test heavy. Your grade is primarily based on 4 tests which is terrible if you aren't a good test taker. Also she has an accent but you get used to it.
Professor Wang is such an amazing teacher and loves to help you if you need any extra help. Pay attention in class and she loves answering any and all questions. Homework isn't worth a grade. It's all based on 4 tests, a final, and a some attendance points. She'll make sure you're prepared and know what you need to know for the tests.
Honestly the best math teacher I have ever had. She cares so much about your success and your actual understanding of the material. As long as you attend class and put effort into understanding the work, it's an easy A! Sad that I will not be able to take college algebra with her next semester.
Best math teacher I've ever had. She is willing to help outside of class and gives study guides about a week before each exam that help A LOT with the tests. The homework isn't graded, but is good for studying. This class was easy, but you only get graded on the 4 exams and final, so if you don't study or don't come to class you won't do well.
For someone who has a hard time understanding math, she is an excellent teacher. She doesnt grade homework, but she explicitly states than it isnt optional. You need to have self discipline in order to pass her class, because your grades are solely based on attendance and tests! She is always available to help and wants to see her students pass.
She is very difficult as a whole. NEVER use earbuds or be on your phone, she will call you in front of everyone. Even if you don't need to pay attention because it's easy.
If you are good at math you will do fine in this class just make sure you keep up with the HW (she does not collect HW for a grade) the entire grade book is just the tests and final so you will have to study and do HW ON YOUR OWN. If you are cool with that it's an easy A. If you're lazy take someone else. I loved prof. Wang, she is a great teacher.
This was my first class back to college after a long time. I was very intimidated because I am very bad at math. (usually) All of the videos were very helpful. If you can pass the practice exams, you will pass the exam-same exact types of problems, just different numbers. Definitely recommend.
Professor Wang, by far has been my favorite math teacher. For the first time, I not only understood math because she explained it so well, but I also enjoyed attending her class. She's hilarious, caring, and truly teaches you in the easiest way possible. Highly Recommend.
Really nice person, not so nice prof. She splits the exams into two parts, an online portion which is proctored, and a paper part which you scan in. The class average on the first two exams were F's and we asked for help in every way possible. Wouldn't record the lectures, or give us extra credit. No graphing calculators. Doesn't answer email.
This professor is adorable and has a great personality. She encourages questions from students but this is a professor that you need to know what you're doing if you want a good grade. Math is extremely difficult for me so this professor and I did not match well. She was slow to respond to my emails and the format of the class was not great.
Prof Wang is such a sweet teacher but communication is awful and the grade book through the text book is not accurate to the actual grade on canvas. My grade was inaccurate the entire semester. Ive never been great on math so the format of this class wasnt helpful & the grades on canvas vs the book not being accurate was extremely frustrating.
If you struggle in Math and need direction, or different styles of learning how to do problems, this version of her class isn't the one for you. Its pretty much self taught through MML. Good thing about her online class is your second exam and final, she will match your highest score to both, which helps. Unless you ask , you wont hear from her.
If you struggle in math and need extra help or attention, this version of her class isn't for you. It's pretty much self taught through MML. Good this is your highest grade between your second midterm and your final she will match. Unless you ask for help, you wont hear from her except for her weekly assignment reminders.
Sweet person, bad prof. Doesn't record Zoom sessions, isn't very helpful, just tells you to read the book, doesn't curve the grade, even if the whole class does bad on the test, contradicts herself a lot, study guides will have the wrong answer and she won't realize unless you point it out. Study guides aren't very helpful, super hard to follow.
I have taken this course in high school and had a much better experience. Prof Wang is a very nice professor but is not clear when it comes to lecture material, homework and is not very accessible through email. Her tests were not clear and many questions were not covered in lectures or study guides which was frustrating. wouldn' recommend honestly
Dr. Wang has an amazing personality, but her teaching was really difficult. If math is NOT your strongest subject, I wouldn't recommend. Splits tests into two, very hard to communicate with, and study guides do not match the test or hw. You pretty much have to teach yourself. Half the class dropped by the end of the semester.
P. Wang was a great teacher. She was always ready to help me understand. She offered individual zoom meetings throughout the week. 2-3 assignments a week and 4 tests the whole semester. If you do the homework and study for the tests you will pass the class. You can't slack off. You get extra points for attendance. Highly recommend Professor Wang!!!
Professor Wang is an incredible, intelligent, funny, and caring individual. She really wants to see you strive in math and is very passionate about what she teaches. She tries to help each individual as much as she can, even offers private zoom meetings if you need extra help. Don't slack, put in the work, and studyyou'll get a good grade.
I love this professor so so much she makes math easy to understand and I will be taking another course by her next semester.
Professor Wang is the sweetest! She has lots of energy and is very caring about her class and the learning that they take in. She gives minimal homework besides the online textbook which is very easy/quick. Notes are very simple, she also has in-class assignments. So, I would recommend trying to make it to class.
I've taken this same class before with a different teacher and didn't pass. However, Shun Wang is excellent! She has a straightforward way of teaching math. She also has many opportunities to come in before a test to go over her incredible reviews that are almost exactly what is on the test. Also, lots of workspace for solving problems on tests.
Professor Wang was a brilliant and kind professor last semester. She encouraged us to work collaboratively as a class, and would stop to tell hilarious stories every once in a while. The content was curated so that regardless of whatever level of comfort you were at with math, you would be able to pass the class with a better outlook on Algebra.
I love Professor Wang! She is very passionate and teaches the material well. Although you are only graded on 3 tests, 15 homework assignments, attendance and the final- so keep that in mind. She teaches very well and offers lots of help outside of class if needed. I would recommend her!
Professor Wang is genuinely one of the funniest people I've ever met. Her lectures are easy to understand, engaging, and very informative. There are only three tests + the final, each of which are worth 20% of your grade, so study up.
Professor Wang is an amazing professor, and it shows. Her class is the highest grade I've ever received in a math class. She explains everything very thoroughly. She cares deeply for her students and wants them to learn the material as well. She gives you reviews that are similar to the test as well. She has an accent, but it's easy to understand.
I took her class online. Im not the best at math, but she made it really easy to understand the concepts. There are 3 in person tests, but she allows us to come in an hour early to practie with her which I really appreciate.
Super sweet lady, terrible professor. The class is basically self taught. You take 3 tests- 2 midterms and a final. If you email her with questions she takes a long time to reply. She puts problems in your weekly quizzes that you don't see on homework until the following week. Often makes mistakes in her study guides. Overall not a great professor.
Even though I did not do well in her class she was an amazing teacher who tried her best in any way possible to help me and other students succeed in her class. I would recommend her for College Algebra but be warned that each individual test makes up 20% of your grade and there are 3 in total (not including the final exam).
dont take online class. videos are hard to understand because she has a strong accent and does not explain the best. if you do bad on final your grade will drop significantly. do not recommend unless your good at math
Professor Wang is a very good math teacher but not for elementary. She didnt use textbook, skipped some units. We were not taught the basics. Were taught short cuts. If you were good in algebra and just need a refresher she would be a good fit for you. But if you have been out of school over 10 yrs may not want her.
Great at teaching! Signed up to be in her class next semester for my next math class.
Professor Wang is a delightful person to be around, but I couldn't follow her teaching style at all. It felt rushed and didn't actually explain the concepts behind the problems, or even how to understand what you were doing wrong. I used the textbook videos instead and essentially taught myself a number of the concepts.
Professor Wang is a passionate instructor who genuinely wants students to succeed. While the class can be challenging, attending lectures and using resources like unstuck AI can help you stay on top of the material.
Really liked her as a teacher. She does teach a little fast, so you have to really pay attention. She's accessible outside of class and will help you if you need it, can def tell she cares about her students. There are 3 tests, not including the final. Would take her again if possible for future math classes.
Shun Wang is a great professor, she is kinda hard to understand though especially that she talks fast so beware. She truly cares for her students and wants everyone to succeed. She is always available outside of class too!
professor wang was incredible!! im not much of a math person but if you show up to class she really helps each individual understand what shes teaching. she's funny, very sweet, and rounded my grade up!
She is nice, but shouldn't teach online. You will likely end up using YouTube to learn all of the concepts. The videos in the e-textbook are terrible. She offers a one-hour review session before each onsite exam, which is helpful. The class has three exams (2 mid-terms and one final). If you go to all three, your lowest mid-term grade gets dropped.
I had to take Professor Wang due to scheduling. She's kind, but her teaching style isn't my favorite. You're only graded on tests, and she can be hard to follow. She curves by replacing your lowest test with the final and drops four homework scores. She wants you to pass, but if you need detailed explanations, she might not be the best fit.
The entire grade you have in this class are 3 tests. If you are a bad test taker, beware your grade will not look too good. I'm pretty sure homework is only 10% of your grade.
