Great teacher. Lectures are very clear and he answers any of the questions you have. Thought provoking class and relatively short reading because 90% is based solely on lecture. Funny guy, relates a lot of things to movies and his high school escapades.

I can honestly say that he may be the best teacher I've ever had... I have problems paying attention in class but he applies things that are more common, that most people can relate to with his lectures. This makes it very clear and easy to understand.

He knows a LOT. Very intelligent. His lectures go on tangents and the only guide is a few pages of notes he wrote down before the class. Not the teacher for you if you perfer organized lecture and notes. Overall good.

Interesting class--GREAT, GREAT, professor. He is down-to-earth which helps you understand the class because your not that intimidated, but you actually do learn a lot. Study the lecture notes, to get an A on test.

His lectures are great -- he relates the material to everyday life. However, take good notes because he gets excited (he really loves what he does) and goes FAST. Do your best on EVERYTHING -- quizzes AND exams. He's so nice -- he'll help whenever you need it. I really learned a lot.

Only a midterm and final, which are based primarily on his lectures.. repeats lectures so that you'll totally understand.. loud and funny.. super nice.. test isn't super easy..like, you have to really know it to figure out the question.. take him -- no one'll be clearer.

The only professor who will use vampires and elves to explain aging. It's hard not to pay attention to him, makes class very fast. Incredibly interesting and tells you big things that are going to be on his midterm and final, and then repeats them in next class. I never opened the book &got the highest grade, just take notes on lectures and ur $.

He is very interesting, and tbe class is very non stressful except for the midterm and the final. Don't freak out about the midterm and final either, i did but i got an A. Go to class, take great notes, study and you will do great.

Naficy is a genius! Totally cool and really cute! The class is interesting, and his lectures are amazing. He tells weird jokes and tells crazy stories about his studies. He appears a bit unorganized, but what genius isn't? Don't buy the book, an absolute waste of money. Class time flies by, no homework, a highly recommeded class.

I can't say enough about this guy. Easily one of the coolest people on that campus, teaching aside. Do yourself a favor and take his class - it feels less like lecture, and more like spending an hour with a friend. He couldn't possibly care more about his students. I miss that guy already :)

Best anthro teacher ever. He's humorous in his lectures so you don't fall asleep. Makes lots of analogies to help you understand easier. 10% Attendance 10% Participation 40% midterm 40% final and it's curved as well with 10% extra credit. WTF? Anybody who didn't understand professor Naficy must be a total retard. Or, sorry, maybe you're just an idiot. His lectures are always lively and kept my interest. Easily one of the best instructors I've had so far. This class changed my life.

Goes above and beyond to make material interesting and involves the class as much as possible, making it fun and giving you things to think about. Problem is, you only have the midterm and final to make your grade, which is difficult.

Only reason he is unclear is bc he talks to fast other thene that he somthing as boaring as anthro into somthing very interesting. And he really does everything for you to understand and be intrested. Curve in class is kik ass. But study.

He was clear! I actually loved the way he clarified everything for us in class. I studied hard and got the A. More than that, I think a part of the world now makes more sense to me. That's something that will stay with me forever. Siamak rocks!

Not an easy class, but there really isn't any other classes for a life science that are easier. Plus, Prof. Naficy is a great teacher, who does a favor by not teaching out of the dated / boring book. Lectures are interesting, which can come in handy in remembering info. If you bomb the midterm, it is possible to do well in the class, studying req.

Here is the break down : Mr. Naficy is a really cool and nice teacher but his mid term and final are HARD! The grade break down is 10% attendence, 10% participation, 40% mid, 40% final. Be careful the two test can ruin you or pass you.

Are you kidding? His tests were great! I for one, liked the fact that the people who studied (and paid attention) did well. And just so everyone knows, a C is average, so prof.Naficy should be giving mostly Cs & Bs. he rocked! Lectures were never boring, I studied, I got the A. Peace.

Listen and study and you'll get an A. It's not super easy but definitely not hard. He's laid back, humorous, and superrr cute! You won't regret taking his class.

One of the harder classes I have taken, but worth it. He is full of interesting facts you wouldn't otherwise learn. A good class for everyone to take. Volunteer the first day of class so he remembers your name, and you're set for the rest of the time. He's strict on attendance.

Gorgeous. I love him. I love the way he teaches. When people say the class "changed their life" it really does. It's an easy class BECAUSE of the lectures. Would you rather take a test based on your ability to absorb material from the text OR fun, interesting, lively lectures? Those who say he's hard only do so because they don't listen in class.

4 exams total. Final is 40%. Be prepared to take lots of notes since exams are based on lectures and rarely on textbook. The good professor himself is overflowing with information. Clearly excited and love the subject a lot. Not an easy class but it's curved so you should be okay.

He is a cool teacher, nice guy. The only thing in this class is that you have to study b/c you must memorize all the parts there is to know, this class could be better but its not, his tests are avg. or a little difficult, but perhaps if you study, you can get a B or A, but very interesting class.

Unlike many professors, Naficy tries to make the material as universally engaging as possible by making comparisons and connections between Anthropology and...pretty much anything else. Very chill, he even let a guy bring his dog. The class is presented in a standard take notes/multiple choice exam format, and requires good notetaking to get an A.

I loved this class! He was very engaging, smart and funny too! You do have to pay attention though he makes it relate to your own life. When he gets going, it's hard not get excited too, he's soo cute and even eloquent at times. Too bad the class ended....

HE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER! =D He's so fun and helpful. he's hot in a weird sort of way. His class is fun because he makes it that way. On top of all these good things to report, he's hilarious. Study hard and you'll do well, but not an easy A.

This class will change your life. I kid you not. Naficy deserves to win teacher of the year or something fabulous like that. I suggest this class 110% for everyone -- take it because you will be challenged, learn, and look at life differently. Him being gorgeous is just a plus.

He made his class a lot of fun, plus, he's a fair teacher. There were two mini-midterms, one midterm, and of course the final. The class is curved, so showing up to class only benefits you. Take notes, and read the book because his exams are detailed. You have to show that you actually care about your grade or else, why should he?

Read the text book after lectures so you don't cram your brain with material you won't be tested on. TAKE NOTES FROM LECTURES! He is pretty funny too, which makes class enjoyable. Theres a lot of info, dont be absent or you wont pass the class. He's very hyper all the time(geeky, but cute), doesnt give you home work, just 2 quizes+ midterm+ final. take good notes, read the book & dont be absent!!

Class was fun and fast-paced. Brilliant. He was always coming up with hilarious, insightful and surprising examples that made the material easier to get. Him being gorgeous is just a plus!

Professor Naficy is very intelligent. He is also very helpful. the class is interesting but too fast. We covered the almost the whole book in the semester. The grade is based on atendence, participation, 2 mini-midterms, a midterm and the final. He grades on a curve. Class is very interesting and he's entertaining but it is difficult.

I took Professor Naficy over the fall semester. I really enjoyed his teaching style. He helped make Anthropology really fun, and interesting. Funny, smart, and helpful (if you ask). Tests were a bit tricky, but if you pay attention, and study, you will be fine :) Again, pay attention, and take detailed notes. I wish he was teaching Anthro 2.

You'll learn alot about Anthropology but you'll also wonder how he expects us to answer his exam questions when he's never taught most of it in class... NOT an easy class (even scholar students get B/C's) exams are tricky and he talks extremely fast making it hard to comprehend sometimes. Wouldn't bother buying the textbook, he doesn't follow it.

This guy has so much energy! His lectures are enjoyable and he is extreamly knowlegble! To do good in his class read the book before coming to the lecture especially if you are not familiar with the subject. He does give extra credit with his exams!

He is a great professor! He is very nice and he makes the class very very fun! He takes the subject very serious and cares a lot for his students. He gives out two mini midterms and two midterms and the final exam. The test are not hard at all but they are not easy either u have to study from a study guide he gives u n u'll be fine.

prof naficy has been my favorite teacher so far. he's really funny, and he makes it difficult NOT to pay attention. however, this is a really hard class, so if you're the kind of person who never shows up, and barely studies, you WILL fail. i studied constantly and ended up with a C. very enjoyable class, i learned a LOT.

You have to really work in this class. The exams are based strongly on both the textbook and lecture. I did poorly on the exams but he is really helpful if you go over the exam with him after. I ended up with an A but had to put in more effort than in any other class. If you need the credit, you might as well take the Lab: it can't be much harder!

Hot hot hot. I'm getting an "Aish" but the class is sorta hard I guess. Though if you pay attention he explains all of it in lecture. Gotta buy the book and skim and you gotta attend lecture. But subject is of interest and the prof a delight (funny, bright & cute).

Just 1 test (out of 4) so far, but I had a 19/20 and I'm confident enough to describe.....Here's the breakdown: Class is fast-paced. NOT a sleeper course. GOTTA read the book & GOTTA pay attention. idk what it was about this class but i could not get a single grade higher than a C on the tests even though i had a background in evolution (previous semester), and bio. his tests are odd to say the least because they make u question your first choice and cloud your judgement. like is it A, b, C, B&C, none.avoid if possible or if trouble with name

It's all true. He is funny, he is clever, he is cute, he is warm and he is hard. It's all true. Getting an A is totally doable if you work hard however and if you ask him for help. Don't expect to learn through "osmosis" however! SMC is lucky to have him for now!

This is a serious class. The prof manages to keep it light and entertaining, but it's easy to fall behind. Rapid fire lectures and lots of slides. If you miss a couple of days....you will not be able to catch up! However, when you aren't LEARNING, you will catch yourself laughing with him--or drooling at him =P. Not for the casual student.....

Easily the best teacher I've had. Engaging prof with a quick wit. Class is wide in its scope and you'll have to go to lectures. But, you should be fine. Keep special track of the information he repeats!

An excellent professor. Extremely bright and passionate about his subject. He sets his standard based on the best of students, refusing to slow down for the sluggish, lazy ones that are unwilling to study for the course. Always helps when asked. I would highly recommend him.

I don't quite like Anthro1. I never did, but he exposed it different to my eyes. Now I love it. The time in classroom passed very quick. I enjoyed participating and actually he motivated me to read the book. He is awesome! And definitely HOT!

I am convinced that Naficy is one of the BEST professors at SMC. The amount of knowledge I gained is unlike that of any other class I've taken. Naficy gives the most interesting lectures I have heard in a classroom and his sense of humor is nothing short of adorable! TAKE THIS CLASS.

I for one found the class interesting and the professor a delight. The lectures are fast,that's true but the concepts are not hard. He is a hottie and as already said again and again, very approachable. Don't expect him to hand out the A's but he is very very funny, very very smart and a sweet, nice guy.

I've never been drawn to anthro up until this class. Naficy lectures at the speed of light but the content on which he chooses to lecture and his examples are really interesting. He's engaging and looks like he enjoys teaching, all the while showing how extremely knowledgable he is on the subject. I definetly recommend him, even winter session.

This class wasn't hard! That's just stupid. Alot of (mostly) easy information passes in lecture, most of it very very interesting. I didn't read the book all that carefully but paid attention in class. For an intro class it's quite great IMO.

It's staggering how much knowledge he has in the subject. Almost anything you ask, he has answers. Although he lectures like he's on fire, it's very clear and mesmerizing because he gives such great examples. But don't expect an easy A. it's not hard, but it sure ain't easy.

An excellent professor! I only wish winter quarter had been longer. His class is not a breeze, but if you pay attention you will learn a lot. Naficy is brilliant, witty and will you keep on your feet and his exams are really satisfying if you're prepared.

Professor Naficy is an amazing teacher, he is so passionate about the subject Anthropology. I took winter section with him, and not a science fan, but enjoyed his lectures. I absolutely love Naficy. I only wish he was teaching other classes that I could take. He makes lectures interesting and his class focuses more on primates and mammal ecology more than other teachers, which is exactly my kind of thing. I didn't buy the book; showing up to lecture and paying attention to what he said was all that I needed. LOVE HIM!

Naficy is adorable & extremely bright. The honors version of this class is quite the challenge but the struggle is worth it. I never thought i'd enjoy going to a class that is science related but Naficy knows his stuff. This class is difficult but really interesting and tons of fun. Be prepared to read attentively & listen quickly...loved him.
