If you visit him during office hours, he acts like you're ruining his day. I would say take the class with another prof. but he's the only one that teaches this class. Go figure

He tells bad jokes, and will put you to sleep. The tests aren't that bad, though. I never go to class and just read the book the night before tests basically and get A's and B's

The course content is good but the class is about good sound assessment and that doesn't happen. Assessments go against what you learn in class. Lots of notes, not allowed to be typed. Reason given is to prevent cheating but this isn't high school.

This was probably one of the worst classes I've ever taken. Lectures were extremely boring and most of the time were confusing. Asked the same questions on a test like 6 times, they were just worded differently. BAD PROFESSOR!!!!!!!!

Great professor. Lots of humor in lectures is and clear. Gives you study guides for exams which are great for tests. Lets you have a cheat sheet for exams. Must go to lectures though seeing tests are based 50% on lectures and what he covers in class is not in the textbook. Good class!

This prof doesn't present his own subject without making you want to carve out your own eyes in boredom. Too bad he didnt stay in canada to subject himself to his own people.

Lectures are interesting and professor has great sense of humor. Allows for extra credit. Miltiple choice exams are based on situational thinking to identify terms. HE ALLOWS A CHEAT SHEET;exams are NOT cummulative. I'm glad he left Canada to teach in Maine, he has much to offer future teachers.

I thought Sid was really funny and interesting to listen to. He lets students make up study guides to use on tests, take quizzes online together and they only count for extra credit, and then he does a research project and if you participate he gives you more extra credit. Pretty easy and fun class.

Lectures tended to be rather boring. Exams were pretty fairy. He allowed a sheet of notes that could be used. Sometimes topics are not presented clearly, leaving you confused once you leave lecture.

tells DUMB jokes that take away from class, VERY unclear in class and notes, notes are too busy with bubbles and colors that make it distracting, BORING class, tests are hard and not straightforward at all... you can tell hes a psych professor cuz its like hes messing with ur mind on tests... i hope i pass so i NEVER have to have him again!

for a psych class, very interesting. He tries to keep the atmosphere in class light. Spends a little too much time asking questions no one answers. Allowed one sheet of notes for the test which aren't all that tough anyway. Actually looked forward to going to class.

boring... totally agree with the dumb jokes... he only laughs at himself... kind of helpful when you ask. doesnt return tests unless you ask personally for an appt. tests were definitely hard, even with the 1 age of notes he let you use... not a prof. id like to have again, honestly.

Sid knows what he's doing. Good class lectures and powerpoint presentations, explains things clearly and his exams are fair and straightforward MCQ. Definately worth taking this class.

This guy has some of the corniest jokes, but it usually keeps me awake through class, turn out the lights to watch a movie though and i'm out like a light. He's an excellent teacher, i just wish some of my other profs were like that.

I loved this professor. His jokes are corny, but enjoyable. He changed the tests this year where you are aloud to use only your book, but can write anything in it (all your class notes). He makes this really interesting and easy to understand. He'll explain things better if you ask. Great lectures and easy to read text. I highly recommend him!!!

He let us have the textbook AND notes for tests because he hates to see us get test anxiety. If you actually read what he wants you to and show up to class there is no way you can do poorly. His jokes are awful...but so what? He's still a very good professor that is concerned with the success of his students.

SO funny! he really enjoys what hes doing. He is constantally proding for involvement and makes lots of jokes. If you show up to class and take notes youll do good in his class. he lets you bring a cheat sheet and books to the exams. totally helps

Funny, fun teacher. He is really into the subject matter and knows his stuff. Very social and tries to engage the class as much as possible. Tests are open-book and you can bring a single page of hand-written notes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but is taken with clickers and you get extra credit for going to class. Couldn't sell the book back.

I dreaded this class - and it's most likely just because I'm not a morning person. But sitting through his lectures littered with horrible corny jokes was awful. BUT it was dreadfully easy. Go to lecture, take notes, read the book - make your cheat sheet for the test (he lets you bring one sheet of paper along with your book) and you'll do fine.

This class is pretty interesting and Sid does a great job making it fun and making the time go by! He also is helpful with note taking by giving you an outline to fill in each day. His power points are thourough and his extra credit system is excellent! :-) He's a great teacher!

I did not like this class. The tests are pretty hard and some of the questions are unclear, he is the only professor that teaches education psychology though so if you want to be a teacher you're pretty much stuck with him

He is really fair. I had a lot of trouble on the first exam and met with him and he gave me tips and I did increasingly better on the subsequent exams. I ended up with an A in the class. He also adds bonus points to your ending grade if you're in class when he takes random attendance.

He is awesome!! His class was interesting and he's a real great guy. I want to take more classes with him. The seats in the class were so uncomfortable, I couldn't sit still. Take a cushion. You should attend class, but you can manage without.

I did really well in Sid's class, but was not a fan of Sid himself. He is the only teacher who teaches this course, so you'll have to have him regardless. Tests are 80% text book and 20% class, so its really kinda important to read and take notes on the book. You will def get good grades if you put the WORK in, if not, well good luck.

One of the best professors I've had at umaine. He is very helpful and cares about students. His tests are hard and he uses a lot of questions from the book. He gives points for attendance.

I found this class to be more interesting than I thought I would. The exams are challenging but reflect what is covered in class. Sid was helpful when I asked questions and he keeps the class light and moving along.

If you attend class and take good notes you won't have to read much of the text. Very approachable,kind of funny in a corny kind of way. Believes each student is an individual and is graded that way.

Sid is a fair professor. He tells you exactly what sections of the readings will be on the tests and his lectures coincide a lot with the book. Lots of videos in lecture and they can be boring or interesting depending on your taste. He gives extra credit too. You have to put the work in but, he's kind, fair, and a great teacher.

I was not the biggest fan of his class. Although I found it easy, if you did not read the textbook the test could have been difficult. I got A's on all my tests. I took the final and got a D. When I asked Sid about it he did not respond for a month and when he did, he told me that I clearly did not study (which wasn't true) and to "get over it".

Sid was an amazing professor. His lectures were very interesting and funny. He has a great sense of humor. I learned so many things in his class and was always very focused in what he was talking about. Attendance is not mandatory and the tests were all online and super easy! I would recommend this class to anyone for an easy A.

Educational Psych was super easy to take as a 3-week winter course online. All you do is read the chapters and take tests that are short answer questions. But reading the chapters does take up a lot of time, so be aware of that.

Sid is an amazing professor! He makes the lectures super interesting and always manages to throw in a few dad jokes. Hoping I can take another class with him. Lots of extra credit opportunities for going to lecture so I highly recommend!

Sid is a decent professor. He thinks he is funny, but he is not and usually ends class early. Ed Psych was graded on one exam, a group presentation and a reflective paper. I don't think there was anything spectacular about the class, pretty mediocre.

He was a very nice and understanding teacher. The only grades were four online tests. The tests were surprisingly difficult for being multiple choice. Most of the questions were not from the lectures, therefore attending every class was not necessarily important.

I really enjoyed taking 201 with Sid. He was very nice and never took attendance. You did not need to go to the lectures to do good. The tests were online and were open notes and open book. Your grade was based on these tests and a few open note optional bonus quizzes. I highly recommend this course.
