Awesome guy! Looks like Mr. Burns and Apu's lovechild. Easy A! very helpful, great jokes. Takes this hard course and makes it easy. Definately take this guy.
He makes the class easy, however he elongates it and bores you to death at times, when material is covered and finished, he still keeps you in class for the remainder of the time. The tests are pretty much exactally like the reviews, however some questions are really weird because the wording.
This guy seriously gets his stutter on. Nice guy, but hard to understand. His exams are not easy because he words things weird. Study his lecture notes and the homework reviews!
Very picky. Won't accept homework if you are late to class. Attempts to force attendance and participation in a class where it is not necessary according to the syllabus. Don't be fooled.
nice guy, but sitting through that lecture is like being beaten with a sack of oranges. he's botched every homework assignment and a number of problems on tests. stick with singer for 301.
The only thing that keeps me awake in this jokers class is the light shining off his domed head. Sitting through his lectures is tortuously boring. I would had just a valuable an academic experience if I had simply read the text book and taken the canned publishers exams.
This class is so freaking easy! Just do the homework and the test is basically the same! You have to study people! This isn't high school!
Do not take this prof! Lectures are horrible! He doesn't know why some of the answers on the homework/exams are right or wrong and doesn't clarify anything! My advise...stay away!
do not take this guy.
He is a stupid teacher. He promise something but never give. Also he give us exam but he doesn't know how to solve the problem. If he doesn't know how to solve how we would solve the problem. I wish i would have taken someone else. I would not suggest to take him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS-Looks like an indian Mr. Burns. Can't understand a word he says through his thick indian accented stutter. Tries to FORCE you to participate. The ass did not succeed with me though. He means well, but sucks as a teacher. Alwyas makes mistakes, very boring, very hard. akes attendance, but it means nothing, don't fall for it
He has never prepared for the class. I'm sure that he is a very intelegent person, but not a well skilled professor.
The class isn't EASY but I don't think it was anything too tough. We're in college...! I managed a B. Just read the lectures he sends you and do the homework-the test is mainly the same stuff. I don't like how he doesn't give +/-'s. I got a B+ which was calculated as just a B in my GPA...
the professor isn't all that bad...if you pay attention, do the HW assignts... and truly understand the material.. you will have no problem with an A... it's not that hard.. but you have to grasp the material and be confident of your answers...
Not Helpful. 3 exams had HUGE mistakes on them, that wasted 30 mins of exam time each. Then the only paper we had, I had the right answer, and he denied me the extra points he took off, THOUGH I was showing him the correct answer from the TEXT!!!! I took him in the summer, but this semester SUCKED. He's not funny, though he thinks he is. ANNOYING!
Hes not that bad of a teacher. He helped me during office hours and let us get a retake of an exam and counted 2 out of the 3. It is a hard class and hes not the best of teachers but hes a nice guy. If you take him hes ok but if you dont have to, dont.
Cannot understand him...and very fickle about answers on tests....unreasonable
Not an approachable professor. His tests are difficult. He will not clarify things that seem ambiguous to his students. Subject material is hard... however, understanding his lectures are even harder. If he makes a mistake, he will not admit it. Instead, he will change the subject and put someone else down to cover for it. Don't take his classes!
Absolutely terrible!! Only three tests and they are pretty hard. They are multiple choice but are intenionally made to be very, very tricky. He also embarasses you in class. If you don't like talking in class I'd also recommend you stay away from this guy. Last thing- he has a strong accent!! I HATE stats after this class!! Run if you can!!!!!
A pretty difficult class, but that's not just the professor's fault--it's stats, what do you expect? A fair amount of people got A's, and he curves the exams too. STATs is one of those classes where you either get it or you don't. If you are one of the lucky ones who gets it, you won't have a problem with this teacher.
It's a tough class not a tough teacher. I took his summer session and completed the course in 5 weeks and got an A. He makes alot of jokes to try and make it a little interesting. He was CONSTANTLY asking people if they had questions. He would even call you by name if you looked confused just to make sure you understood. He's not bad at all.
Not prepared, not very clear on explanations, but smart guy w/ a quirky sense of humor. Curves grades, even with graduate level courses.
Teaches business statistics, a tough class to teach!
the subject isn't that hard but...his tests are very very very hard! he curves but not enough.
HE SUCKS! STAY AWAY FROM HIM! HE CAN'T TEACH!CAN'T TEACH AT ALL! DON'T EVEN TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GRADUATE. PPL PASSED IN HIS CLASS BY CHEATING!!!DON'T TAKE HIM NO JOKE I'M A 4.0 GPA STUDENT AND I GOT A C IN HIS CLASS, FOR THE FIRST TIME I CAN SAY I DIDN'T ''EARN'' THIS GRADE B/C THE DAMN PROF. CAN'T TEACH! HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
i agree with the last comment 100%.. he doesnt know how to teach.. his dumb jokes are not funny. he makes u feel dumb even if u r a smart student. i don even know why he's teaching a summer section!!! DON TAKE HIMMMMMMM
This class is very boring and test are hard....
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! SID MAKES YOU FEEL DUMB AND WILL CALL YOU OUT IN CLASS FOR IT. I took it in the summer, maybe that is why it was so hard. I studied for hours and hours.. I passed by the skin of my teeth. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN. The other person was right, many people passed by cheating, and cheating only.
This professor is so lazy. He will not go above and beyond for you. He makes you guess a lot and makes you feel incredibly stupid. When you know you are capable of understanding the material. It really is not the students fault with this professor, he does not encourage students at all. Honestly, take Singer, he goes above and beyond.
the other raters are haters. it is not his fault the material is not easy, he is definitely a cool dude, gave a fat curve too.
I enjoyed having Sid as a professor.
I liked him. I think he's fairly understanding and intelligent. There were definitely some overly harsh complaints/criticism from some classmates, so I guess his style didn't work for them. His class is whatever you make of it, and he does curve. In the end, as long as you work hard, you should be able to get an A.
Das's heart is in the right place but he seems burned out, disinterested in being part of the MBA program. Das taught this like a sr undergrad class rather than an MBA course. It was not intellectually stimulating for me. Prof Das is a good guy, but does not embrace the mission and vision of the program. Prof Naor is much more engaged and invested.
The material of this class is really easy but with he grades hard. He subtract large points off of one wrong answer for homework. His comments are useless since his handwriting is so bad you can't even read it. His lectures are very unclear. I ended up getting an A but he put me through hell.
I took this over the summer so it was extremely hard and fast paced. Das was by no means the best teacher but if you work hard you can pass. If I had a choice I think I would have taken it with someone else. Makes a lot of bad jokes and isnt always clear on things. Passed with a C even though I failed the final which is 60% of your grade.
Professor is nice but with a very strong accent. Professor is fair. Lectures are fast paced. but if you study hard, you will end up with a good score. The important thing is to study hard on Test 2 which counts a lot of your final score!
Not a fun class.. I took during summer, first half was fine, second half was rushed. Having to rush with his thick accent made the more complicated material a nightmare to learn. If possible, I would take OM with another class, however his class is doable.
Yes, he has an accent, but I've never not been able to understand what he's saying. He does make a lot of bad jokes, but he knows it. The class is very straightforward - similar to his Stats class, which I also had with him. 2 tests, 2 homeworks (which are just past tests). Imagine Apu from the Simpson's is teaching you Ops Management! Go Sid Das!
IF YOU TAKE HIM YOU WILL FAIL.Althought it was a summer session,he still tests us on things he did not go over in class. If i were to know to this before the drop date that this is some what of a "self taught" class i wouldve of dropped it. I do not recommend. I suppose this is the first time he taught this class in a few years! Things changed sir!
Very knowledgeable instructor! Since I have an accent as well, it doesn't bother me to have a professor with an accent. Focus on the subject! He offered extra credit opportunities for students, is open for questions and has office hours. Advice: Spend time on homework, read the book, go over practice problems and solutions and you will be fine!
Good teacher! I would take him again if I had to! Attendance not mandatory, but he will take attendance into consideration if you are between two grades.
Nothing is graded too harshly and if you need it, he lets you redo the first couple of assignments. No midterm though which makes it hard to prepare for what the final will be like. Very personable although at times not the best explainer. Definitely not one of my least favorite profs so far in the program.
Sid's a decent guy. He tries to teach the material and will work with you if you don't understand. Slides are boilerplate from the textbook. He's a career professor with no real world experience to relate the class with exercises performed in class. Take Pendola instead.
Professor Das is a comedian and has a great personality. However, test are extremely hard (testing on material not covered and the smallest details). 2 exams each worth 45% of your grade and 2 homework assignments worth 5% each. For this reason if you bomb an exam your doomed. Not the easiest but doable if your ready to read the text book throughly
Uh..I don't know if he rated himself in the previous comment but this professor's a joke. Isn't clear, can't teach, expects too much. There are 2 exams worth 90% of your grade altogether...both of which are extremely difficult. Avoid taking him, you will find yourself pulling your hair out.
Das is a good teacher. The exams are difficult esp. the multiple choice which is based on reading. If you do the homeworks and work on problems you should do well. He gives an old exam as a homework assignment so you know what to expect.
one of the worst professors I've had in all 4 years. He tries to be funny, but it sometimes comes across as being rude. He obviously prefers male students, cause whenever a female respond correctly he's not nearly as excited as when a male student does. He is hopeless when you need help on a question. I hated having him and hope to avoid him again!
He's a nice guy. It's important to go to every class and work on the HW over several days. If you try and cram, you won't be as successful as you would with other classes. I feel like he genuinely tries to help ppl and he can come off rude sometimes. If you don't take him too seriously, he's a good professor.
Professor Das Is wonderful. I'm glad I ignored the negative comments on here and took his class. He can be a bit quirky but is totally a good guy who wants his students to succeed. Go to his office hours and he will gladly work through any problem with you.
Professor Das is willing to help when you ask for it. Difficult class, but it is necessary.
The material on the test is nothing that is covered in lecture and the text except for the math portion. I could barely understand a word he said. He makes jokes that aren't funny, and he is disrespectful to his students.
This is not poetry or social studies, this is quantitative analysis. If you don't have good study habits, and you don't keep up with the homework, cause the subject is hard, you are going to have a tough time. Dr Sid is patient, and will work with you if YOU put forth effort on your side.
Knows the subject very well and is an excellent teacher.
We all have personal opinion about professors. To me, I am very respectful to Dr Das. He's knowledgeable and humble. He will try all his best to help you with materials and pre-exams questions. You will need to read the book as well if you want to catch as much MC questions on the exam as possible. He will give extra credits when needed. Great Prof
He's a complete jerk. Failed me since I didn't one of the hw on time but had a valid excuse and note, but did not accept.
Professor Das is a compassionate and kind teacher. He was very aware of my difficulties at times with the course, yet gave me opportunities to better myself which frankly not all professors do. I thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and the information on how operations management works and has evolved over the years.
excellent Professor. Cares about his students. Spends time to help students understand content. I went to him countless times during his office hours and he was very patient and helpful. Great Professor!
Great professor. Shows you exactly how to solve problems using many examples. Makes sure students are understanding the material.
Professor Das was very helpful and made sure every student understood the material before moving on. Provided many examples of problems in class and was very good at explaining. Great professor at George Mason.
Hes really funny and hes really helpful. His office hours are always available and hes pretty fast at responding to emails. He is also a fast grader! With that being said, this class isn't easy. Grade is based on two test worth 40% each and two hws. He does give mini hws which is considered extra credit. You don't need the CD for his section.
This guy needs a medal from George Mason University. I have taken him for OM 210 and OM 301 and ironically I had made an attempt in both courses before taking his class and let me just say HE MAKES YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. You can either take another professor and barely pass with a C or take this guy and easily get a B because he teaches you.
Great lecturer and great professor. Easy A if you do the homework and understand the material. 2 big homeworks worth 20% of your grade that look exactly like the exams. A midterm worth 40% and a final worth 40%. He curves at the end. Also, he gives a formula sheet for every exam.
"Uncle Sid" is a pretty good instructor. His lectures are long but he explains the material well and solves multiple examples of the problems that will be assigned for homework; which is assigned nearly every class. The weeks you dont have HW, there will be group projects. Final is tough. Class attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade
Good professor overall. Understanding his lecture can be friends difficult and exams are tough. But overall, he's fair and makes a dry subject somewhat interesting. Two exams, two major homeworks, and a few odds and ends (sometimes counts attendance and gives out small assignments) make up the grade.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He truly cares whether you pass or fail and takes time to ask questions to make sure you completely understand the material. Definitely recommend.
Great and nice professor. His lectures are structured and clear. He makes things easier to understand. Really care about his students when teaching. Homework after class is reasonable and related to his class contant. Listen to the class, and you will get a good grade. If possible, I would like to take his other classes!
Extremely difficult following lecture sometimes, but Das was a solid professor. Exams can be tricky, but he tells you what will be on them (for the most part). Don't underestimate reading material in the book. In hindsight, I regret listening to other students who claimed he barely utilizes text material on exams (he definitely does).
Professor Sid Das is a great professor. He is very caring and slowly goes over things. He will do his best to explain it to you if you do not get it. He uses the textbook a lot to draw examples from. His exams come from his homework assignments are very similar to them. Take him!
He truly knows his stuff and takes the time to teach the material. He gives out formula sheets and doesn't put tricky questions in the exams. If you study and take the class seriously he will help you and you will learn about OM. He responds quickly to emails and he understands it's not the most fun subject so he makes it interesting. he's awesome!
Prof. Das is simply an amazing professor I ever know. I did not remember what I learned in OM 210 or 301, but I have learned everything about OM in 456 (quality management). If you are the type of student who wants to learn and get good grade, this is the best class of OM to take. Prof. Das is very helpful if you pay attention and come to class.
Prof. Das is a great educator. He makes the learning process engaging, better promoting the learning process. If you actually give the class an honest effort, there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A.
Prof Das is honestly a trip. He messes w your head- u thnk ur gna fail. He sees if ur a hard wrker particip grade helps. Talk to him b4 during&aftr cls. If u want an easy A&to skip class, stay away. If u rn't shy to speak up in cls & are committed to nvr missing class, u will not get lower than an A-. Dnt buy book, take a pic of hw probs & tk NOTES
If you're an MBA reading this don't be too concerned with Uncle Das. Just remember the diamonds and pearls and you'll be okay.
Prof das means well but doesnt live up to the expectation. All semester long he will tell you that your fine in the hands of uncle Das. Until the exams comes and its super tricky and if you havent read the book perfectly, your in trouble. Id stay away if theres alternatives. Grades by 3 things, hw and 2 tests
He does honestly care for his students. He wants to make sure everyone understands and does well on his tests. He gave our class formula sheets and extra credit on one of our tests. I wish there were more tests or quizzes just to balance out the grading scale. However, besides that he was a great teacher!
Professor Das knows his stuff and really wants everyone to succeed. The class itself can be very boring bc its OM. If you put in some effort to this class, there is no reason to not get higher than a B.
He was an alright professor. Grades on a 10-point scale. Two exams and one group project that make up the majority of your grade. The class and his lectures are extremely boring. As long as you complete the assignments and pay a little bit of attention in class, you should be able to get a B at the least. Mediocre pofessor at best.
People who got anything lower than a B do not put any effort in whatsoever. He's a good professor, clear grading criteria, but can be a tough grader on the group project (pick a good group). Curved the midterm 5 points (helped a lot) and online final (hard). Show up, do the hw and take good notes. Boring class but easy as ISOM elective.
Professor Das has an effective teaching methodology. His expectations were clear. The subject is difficult to learn; spend many hours to learn materials including watching YouTube videos will pay off at the end. Overall, Professor Das is successful.
Go. To. Class. That's all I have to say. If you go to this class and do the easy homeworks you will get an A. He gives pop quizes and takes attendance when there's a low amount of attendance to reward those who are there. Learns your name. All the tests are open note and are on the computer in class. He only uses the textbook for homework questions
Horrible teacher, for the first half of the course he didnt even know how to use some of the basic excel functions and required help from the students multiple times because of his incompetence. He goes off topic hundreds of times and constantly takes time out of the class to make jokes he deems is funny. DONT TAKE HIM
Great experience with Prof. Das. You need to show up to class, especially if you have trouble with stats/excel. He does a great job at explaining the stats section. Gave lots of extra credit. Final was only based on the last chapter. Summary : Show up to class, ask questions, do the weekly HW (takes 15 mins tops), and you'll be fine.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Please opt for anyone else other than him. I had my friends in other classes who had it so much easier and actually learned something. During a global pandemic this dude REFUSES TO HELP even with ENOUGH NOTICE. He cant teach at all, reads of powerpoints, and 40% of grade is final exam, he doesnt know answers.
His syllabus and grading is awful. Extremely boring, does not offer extra credit.
If you can take someone else. You are only graded on 4 things, 2 HW (20%) and Midterm/Final that are 40% each!! He does everything by hand and that makes it hard. Due to Covid, he made the tests open book, but normally they are closed book. DO NOT take him unless you have too or just really like to cause yourself a lot of stress.
You are only graded on 4 things, 2 major HW assignments worth 10% each mid term and final worth 40% each. His lectures are not the best and you can barely read what he writes on the board and other class notes.
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Unless you want to fail and waste your time&money. Took his professor because the professor that I registered for retired or something. Two exam worth 40% each and two major hw worth 20%. There are minor homework and pop quiz that doesn't count towards the final grade + I don't even understand what he's saying in class
He told us that we would meet once per week and on the other day we just have to study on our own. He basically taught nothing about the conceptual parts. He would come in, literally solve one problem (if he found the right answer) and we would leave. His lectures are very disorganized. I basically paid for the class to have 1 problem solved a week
Clear grading criteria and expectation for the course. Professor Das explains the materials really well so be sure to attend the online sessions or watch the recording. Lecture modules and videos were also very helpful so be sure to watch them all. Getting an A is completely feasible but be prepared to put in a lot of hours towards studying.
Professor Das just goes through all the problems during class, which would be helpful if he took a second to breathe and if his handwriting wasn't akin to Egyptian hieroglyphics. He's nice but the material is hard and he doesn't provide any sort of resources other than class time so make sure you show up and write down everything he says.
I will admit. Sometimes, there is a bit of disorganization. However, he is a good teacher. He actually gives some extra credit points towards the exam. He gives a boost. Beware about short assignments, though because he does give them out every once in a while.
Professor was funny and caring. He truly wants students to learn and pass. My mistake was not preparing for the first exam and relying on the final but with enough studying and attending class for the 'minor assignment' points helped a lot. Definitely would take again!
Professor Das is awesome and caring with his students. He doesn't teach or speak in his classes. He gives you PowerPoint slides for you to review for upcoming quizzes and tests. Some questions from the quizzes and tests are from the PowerPoints and quizlet. Definitely take him either online or in person!!!
Best class ever with thia professor. I was late and forgot to post. Definitely take him again.
Hard to understand and follow. Has office hours, but spends too much time on one question. Definitely take another professor.
This class seems math heavy. Avoid this class at all costs!!!!!
Although this was an asynchronous course, Professor Das held office hours two days a week for students who needed assistance. This is not an easy A class. Students definitely need to put in effort. Resources are made available for students do well.
Avoid this professor and it seems math heavy.
ofc oscm is math heavy lmao what. take notes on the hw formulas and its pretty easy from there. i will say though, final was pretty difficult but landed with an A. the prof is really nice and if you need help, make a study group or go to office hours.
Great online class! Lectures are straightforward and help prepare you for the assignment every week. They also provide online sessions/videos/additional resources that helped filled in the gaps of understanding. Took about 2-4 hours of time per week
I took Professor Das for OSCM 303 and he is easily one of the best teachers in the business area for GMU. The course has 8 homeworks and 2 tests which account for 100 percent of the grading criteria, but if you show up to lecture and pay attention you will breeze by this class. He is knowledgeable and teaches in a funny way. Take his class
It was pretty easy, and a lot of time between homework. they were on Pearson and pretty light u just use the help me solve this and it shows u the steps for the most part. they do take a little bit, but the midterm and final are on blackboard with 3 hour time limit, so it is very do able.
Very easy prof. 1 Pearson hw every 2 weeks, midterm+final on Bb. Lectures are fine, he explains problems well but very uptight ab phones and talking in class. There is some math, but very basic, learn the formulas and you'll be fine. Exams are pretty easy and non-stressful. 1/2 concepts 1/2 math, all mult choice. Could be taken online prolly tho.
I bombed the midterm, C-, but aced the last exam, A, and received a 100% on homework. The first exam is more comprehension while the last exam is more math related. To make your life easier, use excel on every exam. Additionally, his office hours are very helpful. There's really no excuse to fail this class, Professor Sid is very straightforward.
Take this class online, it's very easy. total of 8 homeworks, lowest 1 dropped. Two exams and that's all the grading in the class. Very straightforward. Just do the homeworks and you're good.
He makes this the easiest 303 class you can take. I barely showed up to class but had with an A all semester. Only 8 HW assignments & 2 exams. Exams are take-home, no lockdown.... If you do choose to go to his lectures, he is pretty funny with his dad jokes. SID FOR THE WIN!!!
I took OSCM online bc it wasn't my concentration. There were only 8 quizzes and 2 exams all semester. He posts some of his lectures, but this is mainly a self taught course. If you just wanna get by this required class then take his online section.
There's 8 homework (every 2 weeks) and 2 exams. I didn't really understand the material for the first exam, but the second one was alright.
2 tests worth 60% and 8 homework worth 40%, tests are open note, open book (sometimes he forgets to add relevant information to exams so you will need the homeworks). He noticed that students stopped coming to class so he took attendance which only added 1 point to my Homework grade after he dropped a Homework because people kept forgetting.
This class is pretty straightforward if you stay on top of the work. Definitely use resources like Unstuck study and the free textbook to get through the math-heavy content. Just do the homeworks and you'll be golden.
Exams are easy because he lets you use notes + excel, and you can create templates for problems on a a spreadsheet. The concepts arent hard, but Das is horrid. He was rude/condescending at every possible point, often blowing off students. He laughed at people who would give wrong answers and then complain when nobody raised their hand anymore.
Rude. No attendance for credit in this class but he suddenly starts taking attendance in a 70 people class and reads the names once he receives the list to check that everyone is in class and calls out people who put other peoples names. Mind you we come to class twice a week and a good 30 mins of class is gone on his pettiness
Dr Das is a overall good professor and despite maybe him being a little hard to hear, if following along in class and completing the homework and case study's on time, you will be just fine. Best syllabus setup!(Homework, case study, take home final) Come to class, follow along with the lecture and what he's showing in excel, turn it in. Simple
I took Das for MBA intro stats & was worried at first. Lectures felt rushed and sometimes were confusing. But you'll find he will walk through any questions in office hours and will solve multiple examples to ensure you understand. He doesn't do freebies/extra credit but I believe his class is what you make it and he's there to help where he can.
bad experiance .. puts no effort in the class and does no actual teaching
