very interesting, knows his stuff
Awesome teacher ver funny
sid is awesome! he is funny and keeps attention. Class just flies by
ONe class you look forward to going and never want to miss. He is very knowledgeable yet gives information in a way that makes you remember.
Extreamly bad dresser, but he knows his stuff
Even though he has absolutely no fashion sense, he is an awesome teacher. True, his classes are tough, but he makes learning fun. Also, I think he's kinda cute. :)
Best class I've had so far at USI. He's a great professor, makes class interesting and understandable. I enjoyed it, and I learned a lot. He doesn't, however, have a clue about how to dress himself. It's kinda sweet though.
Sid definitely pushes students to give their best in his classes, but you'll receive the grade you deserve and a quality education.
Awesome teacher!! Very intelligent and funny.
His so called easy going attitude makes it impossible to learn. Try waking up the snorer next to me and then maybe I could have heard him. Previous exams are out. Easy A.
Sid likes to rant off subject and then expects you to know the test material he hasn't gone over - if you ever get to the tests. Avoid at all costs.
He is an awesome teacher and person!! Very clear in class and fun to be around. People who are lazy won't do good in his class. All you have to do is study his notes, read the chapters, and know the vocab. Easy A+.
I like the teacher because he has a sense of humor in relating the topic he is teaching to his students. The tests are hard so be sure to study, study, and study. Sid is easy to talk to when you need help after class or during office hours as well.
Intersting, stimulating, intelligent, great prof and great class, I learned more from him than in any other psych class.
Excellent professor. I think he is one of the finest at USI. Everyone that has to take Psychology(that's everyone actually) needs to sign up for his class.
Eventhough Sid's sense of fashion is 0, he is an excellent teacher, he makes sure that you understand, he is not a boring teacher, he makes you laugh and learn @ the same time
VERY HARD!
I absolutely loved going to lecture...He made the material very interesting by using humor. Just be sure to study for the tests and you'll be just fine. He also gives a lot of Extra credit opportunities
great professor, horrible tests. take if you want a challenge.. i did .. TWICE
Sid is absolutely funny. I learn best through vivid examples and entertainment, and he was very vivid. His test are hard, so study the notes and read the chapters, never miss class or you'll be so lost! Studying in groups helps too. Excellent Class!
Excellent teacher. Do not call him Sidney. Tests are difficult, but it is an excellent class.
One of the best in the department, loads of material covered, but it is possible to get an A if you do the work.
I really enjoyed this class. It's psychology so it is a little tough but Hall makes it very interesting. You do take notes everyday but if you go over them and do a little of the reading you'll do fine. All of the tests were multiple choice too.
He is an awesome teacher. He keeps you entertained even with the boring subjects. The tests are pretty hard, so you should study if you want to pass. This isn't a class for slackers.
He doesnt make the class very interesting, and the tests are horrible
Very good professor! He's hilarious and makes his lectures interesting. Must read the book and pay attention in class to do well. He offers a lot of extra credit. I would take a class with him again.
He tries to confuse you on the tests which are already hard enough, probley going to have to drop, dont take hall unless your ready to study your butt off
Sid is hilarious and he made my class one that I looked forward to. He is hard but that is expected. He dresses hilariously and is willing to take jokes. Big baseball fan for the guys. His teaching style is great. Very organized and definitely knows his stuff. Overall a great non-major course.
Hall is a GREAT professor. Alot of people say he's hard. But he really explains himself well in class and the exam comes almost straight from your notes. Just study for the exams and you should have no problem with this class. He is also very understanding if you have to make up an exam.
Great teacher. Class is hard, but very interesting. He has a great sense of humor. He is always willing to help you- just ask. Strongly reccomended!!!
Was not helpful and was not willing to help. Made very braty comments on papers that were rediculous. Brought tears to my eyes and sent me home in tears.
He's funny and makes the class interesting
Best prof. ever! I wrote down funny quotes in class. "It's not like whoever wins the Jesus death match gets to be the Mesiah. Eventually, they went to different corners. I guess so they could at least be Christ of that corner." -about 3 men with a disorder leading them all to believe they're Jesus.
Dr. Hall was a horrible teacher. I hated his teaching style it was sooooo boring. I wish he would have made the material more interesting. His test were really hard cuz it almost took me the whole class time to finish a test.
loved his class, loved his personality, and loved his sense of humor. i would recommend his classes to all. but be prepared: he wants his students to learn.

hard class, but Sid is entertaining! It was a good time and I learned a bit. But it was real easy
stuck up and bratty but entertaining. got on my nerves toward the end of the semester. class itself was easy. i never opened my book and i got a B

he's a funny guy
Dr. Hall is so gorgeous! That made the difficulty of this class, which let me tell you was the hardest class I have ever taken at USI, somehow manageable. It was hard to concentrate on numbers because he looks so good, so I had to ask him to help me find a tutor I could hire--she helped me tremendously, & I passed the class. Dr. Hall goes above & beyond the call of duty to help his students--IF you tell him you need help. He doesn't read minds, like some other professors that will notice if you'r
Awesome professor. Knows what he's talking about, and can reach students on many levels.
although i found the class difficult, he's a great teacher and made the class a little more fun.

Incredible prof. Knows the material and has obvious interest in teaching it. He's intelligent, funny, and seems to have a genuine interest in his students. And, oh gosh, he's so cute!
VERY interesting. I was never ever bored and it made me LOVE psychology. Study notes for tests and they're not too bad. He offers lots of extra credit also.
Sid is amazing. He taught me so much, and I would take any of his classes. He made everything interesting, and he is a very intriuging man.
Dr. Hall is a difficult prof, LOTS of studies to remember--but as long as you take detailed notes and review them regularly, the class is an easy A. He's very funny, very intelligent, very stimulating...not to mention very sexy.
Sid could be easily one of the best professors here at USI. His tests aren't actually that bad. Just review the vocab and take note of key points in the book. His lectures are very interesting and very comical. Although he does have an adjusted grading scale. Overall he is one of the best. He is also a big baseball fan!
Just read your vocab and notes plus skim through the chapter that wasn't gone over in lecture. Do this and you'll do just fine.
He is a great teacher. The lectures were interesting but packed with information. I do not recommend missing any of the classes. Take good notes and READ THE CHAPTERS
So far, the berst prof i've had! I plan to take more psyc classes just so i can have him again! You do have to learn, this isnt an easy A, but i think he makes learning the subject awesome!!
A great professor! His tests are a little tough, but fair! I got an A in this class and looked in the book 4 times. Take good notes and you will do good!
He is my favorite prof at USI. His class is why i changed my major to psych. I can't get enough of his classes and he is VERY entertaining, watch for his clothes...they are the best part! I definately reccomend him!
Loved him!! Told stories to make you understand the concepts. Must study for tests to do well. offers extra credit. He's really funny and interesting!
Sid is a very good professor. He goes out of his way to make sure the class can understand the material and actually encourages the class to participate in discussion. He is one of the best professors that I have ever had. Not only are his classes enjoyable, they are very interesting too. I would recommend Sid for a professor any day.
I loved him! Hilarious and offers lots of bonus. The tests are a big on the tricky side but you can more than pull off an A with all the extra credit. Favorite professor! Take him!
It is a good class if you want to read a lot and memorize a lot. You only take 4 tests and thats your grade. Study a lot! Tests are over the book voacb and in class notes. THe class seems easy but when you get your tests back your grades wont be the greatest unless you put a lot of out of class work into it.
He is a really funny guy and his lectures are mostly entertaining. You will need to study for the tests, both the book and in-class notes. Attendence isn't mandatory, but to do well you need to attend. He is more than willing to sit down with you and answer any questions you have.
His lectures are very entertaining. Take lots of notes! He gives you stuff in class that's not in the book. Pay attention to what he emphasizes. READ THE CHAPTERS! If you study his tests are cake, otherwise they're confusing. Good class. He drops the lowest test grade.
i cant believe some of these comments are by COLLEGE students....psychology is always easy, Dr. Hall is one of the best teachers at USI. Nothing about any of his classes is difficult...if you want a REAL difficult class take CHEM 354
Sid is a funny guy. His lectures are entertaining so its easy to understand what hes talking about. you MUST! read the chapters though and know the vocab. No matter what he lectures on, everything from the book is liable to be on the test
Dr. Hall is a great professor. His lectures are very amusing, keeping his students interested. Make sure you study the text and notes and the tests will be fairly easy. I would definately recommend Dr. Hall.
Great Teacher with a good sense of humor! It is a lecture class, but he does his best to make it interesting. My suggestion, read the chapter, then RECORD the class lecture, then go home and write down your notes. Most people think this class is going to be analytical, but its actually very technical. Be prepared to study! It'll be worth it!
Dr. Hall is a funny guy!! Even though attendance is not mandatory if you don't go to class your grade will more than likely show it. My advice- take good notes during lecture then go through the chapters and write out the vocab and study it...he will say it in class, the majority of the test is over understanding/appyling the vocab.
Great teacher, he's funny. His tests aren't the easiest, but definitely not bad if you study! I enjoyed his class!
I absolutly loved this class. Psychology kindof interesting but he made this class hilarious with his examples and all around personality. His test are medium hard. You must pay attention to what words are used in each question. The wording gets tricky. I found myself WANTING to go to class just to see what he has to say. i def recommend this class
sid has a way of teaching that keeps you interested, which is always a plus. he does expect you to read each chapter he goes over, and every test is over three chapters. the downside is that he only lectures over two of them in class, so you have to learn one completely on your own. you have to spend a lot of time and effort on this class to pass!
Great professor. He is absolutely hilarious too. Powerpoints have a lot of info on them and its impossible to get it all down so you have to summarize. Tests are difficult. If you want to do well on tests study notes, chapters, and vocab. Lots of extra credit opportunities to raise your grade!
It is impossible to understate how much I loved going to this class. I took PSY 201 as a freshman and did pretty well, apparently bucking the statistics. I loved it so much that I'm changing my major to psych. I really think I would marry this man if we lived in a state that allowed that sort of thing.
Wonderful professor, wonderful person. One of the best teachers I have ever had.
Sid Hally is one of the best teachers ever. He is super funny and knows what he is talking about. If you want to do well in this class, take notes, READ your book, and do all the extra credit that you can. You will learn so much from this man!
Sid is a VERY GOOD professor!I took it as a freshman and did awesome. You DO have to read the chapters to get an A on the exams, but they're interesting.Do the extra credit, and you've got another umph!I did take the same course in high school, so I have seen the material before, but if you've never taken it, just put in the time and you can get A.
HILARIOUS. I absolutely loved going to class. The tests are more difficult than most teachers, you cannot just know the material, but know how to APPLY it. This was my favorite class so far. I wished it lasted longer than an hour and I'm bummed that I don't need to take more psy classes because I enjoyed him SOOOO much!
entertaining?, funny?, lively?, ohhh yes i will give it all to Sid. He's one of kind..BUT! dont let the lectures fool u. Be prepared and STUDY!for the test's as much as you can or you're dead meat....Seriously...
Very interesting class. He has a lot of personality. If you are looking for an easy A or a class you can get by in without studying then DO NOT TAKE Hall... His tests are pretty hard. Although if you study his notes and the book you will do well.
He is a good teacher. he is very funny and knowledgable on what he is teaching. His tests can be pretty hard so you have to study. He does offer extra credit and I would advice taking advantage of it. His grading scale is a little weird. I like him and would take him again.
He is a very nice professor and tries to keep the class entertaining, but it does get a little boring. The tests are VERY HARD so be prepared to study your ass off!! I have to take the class over and even though I like him, I don't think I will take his class again.
Sid is very enthusiastic about his job. He teaches a wide variety of topics Extremely well. (using personal experiences/stories and visual aid) Be prepared to study. You may need that 2 hours for studying after each class but the material is very interesting & it'll go by quickly. I want to take his class again- i actually look forward to going!
Sid is definitely the type of professor that expects a lot out of his students. The only grades are the tests, but he offers extra credit with all of them. You have to be willing to read and work hard, but you will gain so much! He's eccentric and so smart. I looked forward to going to psychology because of him and would definitely recommend him!
Ok...so all my life i have been an A/B student and this is the first time i have ever failed a class and when i asked for help he just told me welcome to college...NOT HELPFUL...
Hall is notorious for being one of the toughest professors at USI.So picking him, you should already know this unless your a freshman and your advisor wants to throw you under the bus. He has a great personality, livens up class and most like him, but his famous "Hall" test will weed out the kids that live and die by cramming.Dont take as a freshman
I took this class as a first semester freshman and received an A.The class is easy if you put time into it. Reading the textbook is very helpful, if you don't understand something, the textbook will make everything clear. His tests can be pretty detailed so make sure to take additional notes, not just what he gives on the powerpoint.
I took three classes with Dr. Hall when I was at USI because he is such a great professor. He is hilarious, patient, friendly, understanding, and very caring. His classes are incredibly difficult--his lectures are 1/3 book and 2/3 new material, and the exams are 2/3 lecture and 1/3 book--but I got As twice because I put forth the effort.
Very interesting and fun professor! Tests are difficult but take good notes and go to the supplemental instruction sessions. It helps a lot
Crazy but fun and interesting he expects you to be an adult so if you plan on goofing off and doing nothing do not take him
Funny, lively, understanding. He makes the class go by so fast! He makes in interesting and fun to go to class. He's one of kind...BUT! don't let the easy lectures fool you! Be prepared and STUDY!!!!The tests are hard, so study otherwise you're dead meat.
Takes weeks to put in test scores. Expects you to already know information when it is a introduction class.
Very lively and entertaining. Read all chapters and study notes prior to tests, otherwise you have little hope. I failed the first test, but learned quickly how to study for his class and received a B for the class. Take advantage of the extra credit as well.
Very interesting lectures he know the material very well. He was the reason why I change my major from biology to psychology not an easy A but if you put a little time and effort in you will get a lot out of his class.
The tests are difficult and his PowerPoints are hard to follow. But he is very energetic and fun. The class is really boring at first, but as the semester goes on it gets more interesting.
Very hard class. He was a great and interesting teacher but requires a lot of time to do well. I will be retaking the class next semester because of the classes hardness. But he is a great guy.
Dr Hall informs you on the first day that this is an intro class BUT it is not recommended for freshmen. If you read the assigned chapters and follow along in discussion this class is a breeze. Dr Hall is by far my favorite professor at USI and I'm not a PSY major. Loved his class.
STUDY!!!
Overall good teacher, clearly wants to see his students succeed (if they put in a reasonable amount of effort). Has a good sense of humor, uses occasional jokes and (relevant) short funny stories to tie-in/explain the lesson. Every third chapter from the book is not covered in class, so buy the (usi exclusive) book,or just share with a classmate.
i loved the subject matter but it was quite difficult for many freshman in my class. i loved learning the material though. sid has many stories about his past and he is very funny
Amazing and passionate teacher. Class consisted of 3 exams and many extra credit opportunities. Very thorough and great at lectures.
Great Professor! 3 exams with 5 possible extra credit with each exam. Additional 16 extra credit points available. Does not take attendance but the exams are based off what he discusses in class. Study powerpoints and attend class and participate in all extra credit. I was borderline C/D before extra credit and after extra credit I received a B.
He says you need the textbook, but you really dont. I got an A without reading the textbook, just study the notes on Blackboard. Gives out lots of easy extra credit and is very helpful if you ask for help.
He's a very entertaining guy. Makes class worth going to.
If you do his extra credit and study his powerpoint slides youll do great
Sid is a really good teacher. He tells a lot of interesting stories and makes you want to go to class. There are 4 tests but they are super hard. Does notes on power points. The tests are over 3 chapters every time but the third chapter you are responsible for so you might want to buy a book. Great class.
Dr. Hall is an incredible professor. His lecutures are very interesting and entertaining. If you go to class, pay attention and study his powerpoints you will do well. He's not super hard but you have to go to class and pay attention. I have the final left but have 103 average in the class.
His tests are (mostly) based directly off all the main ideas, points, and concepts of the lecture, so you have to understand everything well and answer questions in detail to get an A. He's really funny, and was my favorite teacher at USI. Reading the book before the lectures is a good idea if you want to be able to answer questions during lectures
Although I love him, his tests are ALL ESSAYS. As in 18 of them! He's a very picky grader too so if you don't write exactly what he wants, RIP. Also has 3, 4-6 page papers all due on the same day at the end of the semester. They are easy but still. I would say the tests are the toughest! Great guy though, doesn't mind helping you.
Great at making sure you understand the material. However, if you don't study for the tests, you WILL fail them. If you pay attention and participate, you will do fine.
Literally every word that comes out of his mouth is interesting, he uses personal anecdotes to help teach the lesson. Favorite professor I've ever had, but the tests are a little tough and there are no grades other than tests and extra credit
Sid is entertaining, and while some people say his tests are really hard, they do cover material that is discussed in the chapters and in lecture, so they are not at all surprising. I was dreading this class after hearing about him, but he's great! He has a passion for psychology and keeps classes interesting.
Sid gives phenomenal lectures and genuinely cares about his students. He is always throwing in sarcastic comments and acting out the thoughts of the deceased people you learn about. The book is a great help to the course, he grades hard on his tests, the tests are mostly short answer and essay, and there are big projects (groups and papers).
Do NOT take him!! I REPEAT! His test are impossible! They are all the scores that you get. He only gives a few extra credit points but nothing can compare to how hard his test are. Test someone else.
Loved his class! I thought he was really funny, and interesting. Many people I know have said his tests are hard, but so far I have gotten As on all of them. Lots of extra credit opportunity!
The only thing that makes up your grade is 4 tests and they are VERY specific, so a lot of studying is required. You can get 5 bonus points each test by writing an easy paper, and you can get up to 16 "extra extra credit" as he calls it. He gets very involved in his lectures which makes the class more enjoyable, but it's still tough
Grade is based on four tests and extra credit. Excellent speaker.
Dr. Hall acts and looks exactly like what you would expect a psychology professor to be like. The class is not difficult. Grades are based only on four exams, though, including the final. Each exam covers three chapters out of the book, the first two are covered in lecture and the last is not. The final was not comprehensive.
Dr. Hall is a very good professor but his tests are impossible to get a good grade on. He is very good at lecturing and connecting the concepts to real life examples, but the tests are application questions which are very tricky.
grade is dependent on a few tests, lots of extra credit available. makes lecture enjoyable.
Such a great professor!! He bases his tests off his lecture. If you go to class, and pay attention, you will do so good. I only ever missed a few times and still did great because he bases it so heavily off his own power points (which he posts.) All around, I definitely recommend taking his class!
He's a great professor and his lectures are awesome but, if you don't study or show up you're screwed.
Hilarious teacher! Amazing lectures. Love him
Great lectures. I personally don't like the 93-100 grading scale, but he provides rational explanation as to why he enforces it. If possible, avoid missing class at all costs; you will miss test questions as a result if you do. Also, do the extra credit! It is EASY points.
Professor Hall teaches interesting information and keeps the lectures fun. He tells plenty of personal annotates which I enjoyed. However, this class is not easy. The grade is based off of 4 test scores. Do the extra credit! I passed with an A but that was because I never missed a lecture, did all extra credit, and studied hours for the tests!
Sid is a great professor, he is lecture based for his exams so if you show up for class you should be fine. Grades are based off of 4 exams and extra credit but the lowest exam grade is dropped to 15%. He adds personal stories to the power points during lecture. Definitely would take again!!
The tests are rather difficult if you don't study. Make sure you actually read the book and attend class most of the test is based off the lecture. He offers extra credit in the form of a short paper for each test and then also an additional opportunity (so you can get 9 points back on each test if you do all the extra credit).
Exams were so hard to pass. He really likes to go on rants about his opinions and thinks he knows EVERYTHING. Retook Psych 201 this semester with Andrea Gere online and it is a total game changer. She is amazing.
Sid is a good professor, but the class is definitely not easy & takes lots of studying! He doesn't take attendance, but I would still definitely go to class. He offers extra credit, the grade is based solely on 3 exams + final (not cumulative). The only thing that bothered me was his grading scale is 92-100 for an A, but he explains why he does it
Dr. Hall is a wonderful professor. Hes funny & adds character to his lectures. Hes very caring & is willing to discuss your progress if youre struggling. Offers extra credit as well. Highly suggest reading all chapters, highlighting, taking notes on slides/lectures/examples given in class. Offers extra credit (1-2pg paper) & study participation.
Sid is keeps class interesting. It is not hard to follow the lecture. He is super nice and helpful. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going. Extra Credit is available. Hardest part about the class are the tests. Make sure to study. There is a lot of information.
With Sid, Capstone is not hard at all, despite all of the rumors. A majority of your grade is of tests, the final isn't cumulative which makes life so much better, there are 2 presentations which also aren't difficult, and 3 papers due at the very end that were literally the easiest points I've ever received.
Sid is honestly one of my favorite profs. Hes really cool and cares about your success, however he does make you work for it. Hes very funny and makes every class enjoyable. Ive had him for multiple classes and hes accessible outside of class. As long as youre willing to put in the work, I would recommend taking him.
I am typically a straight A student and did extremely well in Sid's RMS class. Capstone is a different story, with the majority of the class getting a D or worse on our tests, which doesn't seem to alarm him at all. Tests make up the majority of your grade so it is alarming to me. Oh and thanks to the pandemic we have a test like every two weeks.
Dr. Hall is one of the sweetest and most enthusiastic professors I have had the chance to meet. Not only was he a pleasure in class from the way he applies psychology to his personal life but he is very engaging to talk to even after class. He is a very confident man and extremely knowledgeable. He is also really funny. Would recommend!
He gives extra credit, his lectures are so fun and engaging. He is hilarious. He is eccentric at times, but overall he is a great professor. His exams are pretty standard, just look over the powerpoints and read the book about the portions that you do not understand.
He's very easy-going and provides good feedback. If you have trouble understanding anything he will take the time to explain it for you to better understand. The project is a little stressful and time consuming but he tries he best to encourage you to start early.
He's a nice guy, but not good at teaching. His explanations are confusing and you're graded on tests only (which are worth 200 points each). Also if you miss class, good luck because there's always so much information packed into one lecture. I'd pick a different teacher for RMS I & II.
I love him! So easy to get along with. One of my favorites.
Very good communicator, is clear and open about grading policy and assignments. Great lecturer, sometimes pontificates but usually in an entertaining manner. Has a lot of previous experience in the industrial psychology field which allows for a good ability to answer questions and assist if needed.
Makes lectures interesting and interactive. Only exams for the grade. Shows personal bias in his lectures. I hope to god you don't disagree with him with anything about his teaching style or ask for anything. The request alone will be seen as entitlement.
I did not like him. He was awful, spoke about politics in psychology. He talks about how trump is the greatest when that is now what the class is about. Exams were alright you just gotta really pay attention to the small things he says in lecture.
Sid makes lectures engaging with personal stories. Exams can be challenging, but attending class and using resources like the textbook and Unstuck ai for study prep can help. Overall, a solid class if you put in the work.
He is a great lecturer, but they are heavy on politics and religion. He talks about how he hates the church and Trump but then claims to be a moderate. Also, you will fail at least one test and this is because he grades them so hard. Almost all questions are written and if it's not word-for-word what he wants you fail, so you have to word vomit.
Definitely one of my favorite teachers. Always making jokes and trying to get the students involved in the lecture. The only downside is it is only Exams for grades. It's totally up to the person taking the class if they prefer that type of class but personally I prefer more course work so exams aren't worth as much.
Overall, I found this class pretty easy if you just studied your notes from the slideshow for the exams. Attendance is not mandatory, but it will definitely help if you want to do well on your exams. Plenty of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade.
He is one of the top 3 professors I have taken. Yes he is political, but anyone claiming that he is "bashing" political figures and worshipping others is not paying attention to any of the connections he is making throughout the course. The tests are heavy, but if you take good notes and pay attention in class, you can't fail this class.
Dr. Hall is very political and does not understand technology well at all. He also goes off on tangents during class, and we never finish the material in time for exams. The content is not too hard, but he does not explain it well at all. I taught myself all the content for this course even thought I went to every lecture.
Do not take Dr. Hall for intro to psych.. He is not a good professor, doesn't respond to emails, and isn't easy to talk to. He rarely gets done with content by the end of the unit and you have to learn a lot on your own. His grading scale is confusing and he just isn't a good professor.
