great guy notes are amazing keep going to his class and you will do fine.
A very clear professor in his explanations, however not helpful or nice when you have a problem.
Great prof, explains everything very very clearly, nice guy, will answer any questions very well. Take him!
The best math prof you will have. Take his class.
Best prof ever!!!!!!!
MATH 123 was the easiest math class i've taken since Grade 9 Math. A bit boring at times but the exams are straightforward and he marks generously. Easiest core class I've taken so far.
Best teacher at Mcgill!
Okay, let's be honest, probably the best math prof at mcgill, no joke. Loves his material, explains math like its a story, and takes his time to goes through the points, but isn't slow. Took 133 and 270 with him, hopefully also for 381. He is helpful and I'm glad that I had him for this course. It isn't that bad if you go to class, and do the work.
Excellent, Amazing, Fantastic and inspiring prof. no joke. i have had for the 3rd time (133,264). he is always available to help, in office hours or class. makes sure everyone understands, proves anything if the need be. i'm always amazed by the level of confidence he has in the material he knows anything i ask and can explain/prove it on the spot.
very cool prof. had him for Math 264 and 270. explains very well and unlike some teacher that confuses you even more when asked a question, has a very clear mind on what he is teaching.
AMAZING TEACHER. best math teacher ever
Class is easy until the final. The Final was significantly more difficult than the material gone over during class time. Did not feel prepared even though I attended every single class and had an A average before the final.
Funny, Sarcastic, Knows his subject at the tip of his fingers. What more can you want from a prof.?
He is really good.
ALL HAIL SID. HE'S THE BEST MATH TEACHER EVER
awesome
I'M A GUY, AND I'M IN LOVE WITH SID <3 TAKE HIS CLASS !
Best Professor In math at McgIll. Made me want to study math. Just a simple Boss and he stays simple.
Great course. Fair exam. Excellent Prof.
Sid is a good professor, however he explains some stuff in confusing ways when there are easier ways to do the same problem. Focuses too much on using proper mathematical terminology which confuses some students at times. Overall a good professor, but quite intimidating and not too approachable.
Hearing 'My name is Sid!', you know that nothing can go wrong. He has a unique approach to teaching Math. Most MATH profs at McGill are very theoretical. But he gives loads of examples which are very helpful in understanding the why of the techniques used. He is among the best alongside Klemes, Roth, Humphries...
explains well.
Sid's a great prof, but exams can be tough, so you've gotta prepare for them. Helpful and better than the others in the math faculty by a long shot
Good prof, uses lots of examples and explains them well. Midterm and exam are fair if you do all of the web work and go over notes. Hardly used textbook though.
Solid prof, difficult midterm/final but they were fair. I was in the other guys class but after doing poorly on the midterm I only went to Sid's class and ended up killing the final. P.S. Don't think that the 2009 final or midterm will reflect your final/midterm because you will find the 2009 one to be 100 times easier.
Excellent professor with obviously lots of teaching experience; he knows exactly on what to focus and always predicts students' questions. Some people say his exams are hard but they are not if you attend class. His skills definitely compensate.
Sid is a great teacher. His lectures move fast but explain material quite well. He is very welcoming with questions and will stay for as long as it takes after class to help out. His exams can be difficult but they are manageable.
Best prof ever. Very clear and consistent. Always helpful. If you do the work assigned and practice, you will ace the course.
I would take any math course with this guy. Extremely clear explanations. Doesn't expect the class to know the material. Fair exams. Make sure to attend all lectures and take down all notes.
He's a very nice guy, helpful and clear. But the course is so challenging so be sure you practice alot.Try to study from his notes and don't ever confuse yourself with other notes. I personally hate linear algebra and I'm gonna say its a "sensitive course" because if you don't know everything then you're screwed.
Art of Math is lulz. Trudeau is a revered math teacher at McGill and he is great at his job. He is knowledgeable and funny and made this course himself. It was the first year for the course so maybe it will change but there was no textbook and that makes sense because we didn't really learn anything... Free A if you did math past elementary school.
Sid is a great professor. Despite a midterm average of 52%, the course was not particularly challenging as it was extremely well taught. Would definitely advise any course with Sid.
Sid is a great professor. Despite a relatively low average on the midterm, he taught what should have been a difficult course in a very systematic and accessible manner. He is definitely one of the best math professors at McGill and I strongly advise taking a class with him.
This class used to be easy based on the previous finals i did online for the course. Don't be fooled, this class now holds a hard exam and the meanest marking i have ever seen.
very good teacher but can we maybe if its possible have our final grades after almost 2.5 weeks?
It really doesn't matter which course Sid is teaching. He's amazing in every single one. Take every class you get a chance to with him. My only advice for you is that dont get fooled into thinking that some questions/concepts are easy just because Sid did it like it was nothing in class. As Sid always says, Convince yourself!
Great Professor!. Explains everything well and is always ready to help after class. He covered the material well and gave an extremely EASY final. Take any class you can with him!
The best math prof at McGill. Talks with an American accent and said on the first day, "Hi, my name's Sid." Always tells you to practice; it may look easy on the board but convince yourself.
He is extremely clear and helpful. He likes to review before start a new lecture. But you still need to read textbook to catch up. He does textbook questions in class. And he always starts class by saying "QUESTIONS? ANYONE?" love him and TAKE HIS CLASS!
This professor is seriously world class. Probably the best professor I will ever have. If you have the opportunity to take his class do it. I wish he taught all of my math courses for the rest of my time at McGill.
Extremely clear and so far one of the best professors I have met at Mcgill.I will definitely recommend him because not only he displays number of examples of each method but also clarifies each step twice for the better understanding of the student.
Great prof, everything is clear and well explained.
Sid is awesome... Very clear in his explanations but you have to work and do as much practice on your own as you can to do well in this course
Okay Prof Trudeau is definitely a great teacher, and has 133 down cold. Except whats up with this class? I have done very well on every other math course, and I felt that I understood everything he taught so well. The final multiple choice though were just ridicilous and far from reflective of anything you actually do in the course or that he shows
Prof Sid is a great teacher, but since he isn't the course coordinator, the tests are so much harder than stuff we learn in class. Be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to keep up. Also, side note, his mental math skills are insane and you'll never rival them, even with a calculator.
Linear algebra is tough no matter which way you teach it, so hats off to Prof. Trudeau for making it a bit more bearable. He takes lots of questions, has an amazing beard and strong American accent, three things that you can look forward to. If you don't study, you will not know what's going on (especially after the midterm).
He's good, class isn't easy. But whats up with everybody saying he has an american accent.. he is not american and doesn't even sound like anything
He is the best math prof at McGill. Period.
Most clear Math's professor at McGill
awesome prof
"Very nice." :)
Hands down the best prof I've had at McGill. Extremely clear.
Sid gives good lectures that consist mostly of examples from the textbook. If you don't want to go to class, you don't have to and can still pass just from learning from the textbook. Almost more of a tutorial than an actual lecture. Sid is funny and wants people to do well. Exams are fairly hard but very doable you study.
Hand down the best math prof in McGill.
Sidney Trudeau is a clear instructor in class and gives good examples, however does not provide any useful material outside of class. He is not helpful when help is needed. Horrible grader as one mistake in his exams will make you drop from an A to a B.
Trudeau is good. Took him twice and he is a really good prof but seriously if you think he's the best at McGill you have taken a lot of other classes. He does go really fast and sometimes makes thing overly complicated, feel free to stop him when you're lost. Also don't even think of missing even just one lecture, you will regret it so much
Good professor, he does a lot of examples in class so there's stuff to go back over when you practice for exams. Funny and nice guy teaching a very broad class, I would recommend him. However his tests are tough!!
Prof Sid is an excellent teacher and extremely concise. I enjoy how he presents material, with plenty of examples. His voice shows deep enthusiasm. The way he says certain words helps me remember them, like "Derivative of ln is ONE OVER." He expects you to solve every other problem in the book. His final was tough, but he curved it :)
Attendance doesn't matter and if you have the textbook you'll be fine, but it's worth going to class for. He's great at answering questions and is very easy going and chill. Advice for the course would be to actually do the assigned textbook questions and you'll be golden for the exams.
Overated prof, for real math classes. His ratings are boosted cause many take easy classes with him like 122 or classes where he is not the coordinator. He is unfair when he writes the exam and beyond theory does not know to calculate things but tests calculations on the exams. Math 264 with him had a C+ average and I heard for MATH 262 as well.
Sidney is one of my favorite profs in math. He did reviews of math 262 before he started teaching 264 and explained the theories anytime when people asked. He's inspiring and encouraging. Based on the understanding of the geometric meaning, calculus is easier to understand. Final was tough but as long as you understand it, you can solve them.
Class was easily skippable and the homework assignments were a breeze. The final, however, was a disaster. Glossed over many important topics that we learned, and was unreasonably hard for a huge portion of my grade. Very hard integrals, though we barely did them in class. Uses questions straight from the textbook on exams.
Disclosure: I review all profs regardless of performance. Trudeau is hilarious, he is actually a great lecturer. However he makes things over complicated and makes concepts more difficult than they need to be. The exams are more difficult than the classwork and textbook work. The best advice I could give you is do the Webwork and textbook questions
Very good proff! Extremely smart and knows exactly what he's doing. Can sometimes overcomplicate concepts. Midterm was super easy, however final was very difficult (when compared to past finals which were much more straight forward)
Sid is a really great prof. Clear and organized lectures, (not recorded), and available outside of class. Midterm was really easy, but only worth 15%, and final worth 70% was really difficult. Do the textbook questions throughout the course, it will make studying for the final a lot easier.
Great guy, chooses good examples to illustrate his points and is readily available before/after each lecture for questions. Midterm was doable, final was ridiculously hard for the material covered in class. Can be a little slow in explanations sometimes, but really tries to take the time to explain concepts clearly.
Sid is a really funny guy, he looks like The Rock!! Makes math bearable :)
If you like Good Will Hunting, you will LOVE this class. SID KNOWS WHAT'S UP, this man will leave you inspired. I learned things I didn't even know my brain was capable of learning. An original Gang$ta that McGill is ble$$ed to have. 100% the coolest homie, I prefer listening to him over Kanye West any day. Keep it real Sid.
this guy was freaking amazing, he is a great prof, very smart, very clear..... math can be awful and hard and impossible but he made it clear and manageable.
Sid Trudeau is a prof to avoid at all costs. His lectures are hard to follow and don't help you on the exam
Excellent lectures: funny, good pacing, excellent explaining
AVOID THIS PROF! I got a 95% in high school calculus and while the class isn't hard to follow, his exams are beyond the level of the course. The class average was a B- compared to a B+ the previous year and he did not curve. Also, he is not receptive to questions/criticisms.
Probably the best lecturer of MATH 140 and 141, but the WORST test maker. He does not put any responsibly on himself if his students do poorly in his class. For example, the mid-term average was below 50%. He then sends us an email that we have to study harder and the final will be just as hard.
Great Professor. Very knowledgable. And also X cancels out nicely haha
"How we doing?" Sid is a great prof. Very chill and explains the material very clearly. The lectures are organized and easy to follow. Tough grader is an understatement
Good Prof, but hard exams (easy if you did all the 1000000 questions on the textbook)
He's a great prof in class, just beware of his exams (they are nowhere as nice as he is!) He spends a lot of time on proofs but keep in mind that everything is fair game to be tested. He really wants to see that you can differentiate/integrate the thorniest and longest of problems under pressure: do the hardest problems you can find.
We did not deserve Sid, and yet we still got him. This prof is amazing. His lectures are clear and entertaining, and he is willing to answer any question and go into as much detail as necessary. His exams are very fair and only cover course material, but still a little challenging (it is university after all!). Amazing introduction to calculus.
Lectures are clear and the prof communicates well, but exams are ridiculously hard. He makes them more advanced than the class is. He gave the midterm grades back after the final drop date, and put material from calc 2 on the calc 1 exam. Also the only thing that really matters is the final exam grade. Participation and effort mean nothing.
Sid was a great prof. Everything was explained clearly and the 75% final was super easy.
I took him for both 140 and 141. He is a very good prof.. He has good knowledge, and he respects his students. I never saw him treat a student's question as boring or silly, and he is there to help such as extra office hours. His teaching is concise and to-the-point. He understands students' questions and answers in point. Exams seem fair to me.
Great lecturer but class material is too simple in comparison to exams. Missed out an extremely important concept that was later tested in the final. But otherwise he's a great person
I had him for math 140 and 141 and he is an awesome lecturer; concise, uses examples to teach, and make you feel like you know the material. But that is to your own detriment because come exam time, you will quickly realize you know nothing, and will fail. Don't be fooled!!! Study hard for these courses our failure will come for you.
Your best chance for math courses.
Sid is easily the best math teacher I've ever had. Gives great lectures, so I would definitely recommend showing up to them. He's very open to questions in class, and encourages office hour visits (he often stayed hours past his office hours to fulfill questions). Do his recommend textbook questions, and the webworks, midterm/final will go great.
Awesome Professor. If he can be your instructor, make sure to choose his class or take it as an extra. DEFINITELY worth it!!
Great teacher
Came on here just to give some comments about Prof Trudeau. Easily one of the best profs at McGill, always caring inside and outside of class. Makes lectures interesting. Does not move on until 100% sure everyone understands. Provides a simple, straightforward and clear understanding of concepts. Definitely recommended! Love you sir!
Trudeau is a good professor, but his exams are very tough. Do not be fooled - a high school level of Calculus will not get you an A in this course. Past finals and webwork are misleading - they are a lot easier than his finals. You can skip class but study for final.
He's a great professor when it comes to teaching ability and I don't want to discount that, but it did seem he deliberately went out of his way to catch the class off guard with the final exam. We went over 3 other past finals that were nothing like the one he gave us. If you're going to give a really hard final - fine - but don't deceive us.
Fantastic prof - engaging lecturer and actually wants you to learn. If I could have him for every math class, I would. However, do not expect to do well in his class. The final was absolute insanity and most people I know aren't even sure if they passed. Take his class because you want to be great at calculus, not because you want an A.
Amazing proffesor and inspiring, this man genuinly cares for his students. Breaks calculus problems down in to an algorithim such that you hear him in your head while solving and gives you the most unbiased shot at an A you will ever have. The exam will be hard but he does prepare you for it. Do the textbook questions and study hard for the final.
Good prof, tests are fair. If you attend lectures and do a few textbook questions, you'll be fine. The midterm was a joke, and the exam wasn't as bad as people make it out to be: you just have to prepare throughout the whole semester and make sure you follow. Don't try to cram the week before the exam, you'll fail. Just be prepared and do your work
Not a bad professor overall. However, between the book problems, the webworks, the tutorials, the midterm, and the posted practice exams, I expected the final exam to be of comparable difficulty. However, despite spending a significant amount of time and effort preparing for the final exam, I found it to be quite difficult.
Really nice prof, clear, funny, knows what he's doing. Except the fact that the final is wayyyyyyy too hear compare to the past finals.
Definitely worth going to class. The biggest mistake you can make with this class is getting cocky; this is not highschool calculus. The midterm was quite easy but only worth 15% while the final was very challenging and worth 70%. Do as much practice as possible before the final, focus on types of challenging questions rather than broad concepts.
The prof presents the material clear but does a lot of repetitive questions at a fast pace. The final is very difficult in comparison to the midterm and worth 70% of your grade.
Great prof, best math teacher I ever had! Be aware that the midterm is going to be easy and the final will be way much difficult... don't be fool by that! Do the exercises in the book, his exams are just the problems in the book!
Cal is very theoretical and difficult to understand. He does a good job of explaining the topics but it's up to you to make sure you understand. You really need to put in the work, do problems in the textbook and prepare in advance for the final, it's worth 70%! The final was significantly more difficult than the midterm (which was only worth 10%)
Have had this professor for 140, 141 and 262. He is a very good lecturer but definitely makes the exams hard. The midterm is always fair and relatively easy but the final is often very hard. Do the web work and recommended problems, and practice exams. Really focus on the harder problems and you should be ok.
Professor Sidney Trudeau is one of the best Maths Professors you can have in McGill (along with Professor Charles Roth). He is incredible as a person and a great Lecturer. I will not pretend that his exams were easy (even they if they were for me). I had to work for my "A". How much work ? Depends on your own capability and intelligence.
He's an incredible prof. Very clear lectures, makes everything seem easy. Extremely approachable and he's very nice and kind. Very open to questions in and out the class. Makes relatively hard finals though, you'll have to work for your grade which is fair. Favourite prof so far in McGill. One of the best teachers I've had in my life.
The true king of math. Easy to follow, great lectures (lots of examples)! Exams are hard but with practice, it's manageable. The shiny head coupled with the amazing beard only add to the experience! Get ready for the iconic "diesel + jeans" combo! Let the beautiful melody of "shall we integrate" bring success to your semester! "Questions?"
Had Prof Trudeau for 140 last term and 141 now. Best lecturer I've ever had. Explains everything super well and makes everything easy to understand. Class is composed of teaching method/theorem and problem solving. Clarifies all your questions. Expect a fairly easy midterm and a super hard final. If you have 1% of his knowledge in math you'll ace
Sid's a solid lecturer, but his final exams are pretty tough. Your best bet is to do a lot of practice from the textbook, as the exam questions are exactly replicas of or similar to odd numbered book problems.
Go to class and do all the practice questions from the book outside of class, it will be an easy A. He gives good explanations of the concepts in class. Great professor in general.
I'm never really a math person but Sid was the best Math prof I've had. He was very resourceful and clear about what he was teaching and gave out lots of good examples to make this hard course easier. Got a high A in the final and it's basically everything he had emphasized throughout the course. Awesome prof!
Professor Trudeau is an incredibly nice and caring man along with being an excellent teacher. You learn a lot from his lectures. His exams are by no means easy but they are still completely fair. If you do a bunch of textbook questions and fundamentally understand them, there is no reason for you not to do well.
What a lad
Super clear lectures. Doesn't bother with theory too long and instead does so many exercises in class with you that you barely got to work at home. He's awesome
Sid is a very nice genuine guy. In a class of 1200 people, if you go to office hours, he's very attentive and makes you feel like he really cares about getting you through his class. That being said -- it is an extremely difficult class and you will not pass unless you are putting in the work 24/7 and constantly doing practice problems. Do not cram
Lectures are taught well and he's always available to clear doubts.
My favourite teacher at Mcgill. He is really really good at explaining and not boring you. His toning and voice is really clear too, and in a big class like Math 140 you need that. Overall, he is the best!!!
best lecturer you can imagine. he is very helpful and explains everything really good. also he pays attention to the class by checking if everyone understood or not. he asks from the book. he is not trying to fail you. he is trying to help you pass instead with A and understanding the course.
By far my favorite professor first semester of University. I don't know if you could call it humor, but Sid makes every class enjoyable. Make sure you stay on top of your work, as a lot of material is covered in a short amount of time. Upset that I don't get to have class with him anymore...
Not a terrible class but you will never see Sid smile. Very monotone, pretty boring, you will most likely dread going to this class. However not the hardest math ever, so you'll be ok.
I LITERALLY did the entire textbook for this course, however last night's final exam was the worst thing I've ever written. I know the class average for this course is always a B-, so that being said, they probably kill us on the final to raise us at the end. I definitely failed the exam, but I hope I passed the course. Nonetheless he's a good prof
A Calculus legend.
Trudeau is a really good prof. He explains questions really well, and pay attention in class! He literally pulls questions that he has gone over (for our final, I counted at least 3 or 4) which is really beneficial if you pay attention and write everything down. He's very informative, and if you put in the effort, you will very easily get an A.
his final is terribly hard but i have to say he explained materials clearly
Final was VERY hard but Sid a true dime
Always go to class. Do lots of practice. Easy midterm, tougher final. Be prepared for that jump in difficulty.
I can say that Sidney is the best professor I had in the first semester. He gives amazing lectures and is always willing to explain the questions in class. Midterm and final will not be hard if you well command the materials covered in the lectures.
Took Math 180 with him, and the course became the only A on my transcript.
As a student coming from the French school system, I can tell that this course was hard for most of us French. Good teacher, but he's fast-paced and it's hard to grasp the course material perfectly. I had to take many extra tutoring class to understand the content of this class. The Final was carnage, but he curved the grades (good lord)
His lectures are very clear and understandable. He is always receptive to all questions. His office hours are usually very busy, but he makes time for each student present. His midterm was easy and his final was doable and fair. He tells his students to do all the exercises in the textbook. If you do, you can definitely get a good mark.
Sidney Trudeau is truly the best Math professor/teacher I have ever had. In terms of explanations in class, he does a fantastic job being clear about the material and questions. That being said, he is quite monotone so if you get tired or off-task from that sort of thing it could be an issue. My only gripe was that the final exam was far too hard.
The course is fast-paced but he'll take the time to explain every question, and he does so extremely well. Great teacher however the final (worth 75%) was tougher than anything seen in class.
It's when you lose something that you realize how valuable it was. Clearly miss Sid. Trustworthy prof but to some people, the material was covered too fast so be careful about not being late in course progress. Hard final, but you just have to worry about doing better than others (this will definitely help when they curve up the grades).
He's lectures are interesting and inspirational. Homework and tests are not that hard if u do practices on textbook.
An excellent and inspiring professor. It was apparently his first time teaching math 263 but he did it very will. Can't understand something? He has office hours twice a week after the lecture and you can ask him all your questions. As good as in calculus if not better.
I recommend choosing him for Math140&141. His lectures were very clear with a lot of examples questions solved in class to help you understand. Do practice questions and read a bit in the book if you occasionally feel like not getting it all. There were no surprising questions in his exams. Finals can be harder than midterms but still very doable.
Sidney Trudeau is AWESOME. I didnt have him for my section, but he was the course cooordinator. I got 40% for that midterm, the worst grade Ive ever received at McGill. From then on I started attending Sids lectures and took his advice and practiced ALOT, did almost all of the questions in the textbook and got 97% for the final.
Sid always says do the practice problems in the textbook, in fact his lecture is a practice session also with very clear explanations. Go to his lectures and do the examples with him you will be fine. He always makes math life so easy. I was with him for math 140 and 141. Highly recommended.
He might be good for the intro math classes (100-level), but he sucks for ODEs. Makes most of our exam multiple choice, in which you have to do full steps just to get to the answer. It messed up a lot of our final grades. Exam was brutal.
His flow of the class is super logical and well structured. Not a single word is said in vain. The multiple-choice aspect of the exams aren't ideal and he doesn't give many partial marks. A very good experience overall!
He never wastes a second of class. Every second is spent at examining the material and mastering calculus. Exams are from the book and as long as you master the material you will be done with the midterm an hour early
Prof Trudeau was unorganized and unhelpful. He failed to return our midterms on time and when he did return them, we had to wait an hour while he organized them. In class, whenever students asked a question, he would often be unhelpful, and belittle the student for not knowing the answer. His email etiquette was dismissive of student questions
Really impressive lecturer and genuinely a nice guy. IMO people overhype how difficult MATH 140 is with him. I thought both the exam and the midterm were really fair. Just do a lot of practice questions and make sure you're very comfortable with the material. Also be able to sketch y xe^(1/x).
I took him for Math 180, the course is made up of 25% webwork, 15% attendance, 20% midterm (multiple choice easy), 40% final. The final was 50% multiple choice (super easy) and then 50% theory questions which were extremely difficult and didn't reflect the practice problems. Overall it's an easy GPA booster if you put in work
He is really good He is so good at teaching that even the hard stuff is easy to understand GREAT LECTURES
trudeau is actually a homie. lowkey failed math 122 but that wasnt even his fault, im just stupid. homeboy is literally the greatest good you'll ever have. PLEASE take his class, 11/10 would recommend his amazing lectures.
I bet Sid is nice person, even though I have not seen him smile, like ever. I just don't understand the outstanding reviews he gets ( I had a mediocre at best experience). He does do an okay job at explaining things but also goes super fast on important things, that are in the exam. Midterm was fairly easy BUT THE FINAL OMG was a spit in the face...
I toke math180 with him. I'm not good at math so the class materials are still difficult for me. But you can understand all if you are hardworking. His office hour is super suggested. It's an enjoyable class and you won't waste your time.
Truly the best math lecturer you will encounter in your first year. Favorite professor so far at McGill
He's a confident professor, but sometimes it can get annoying. He is pretty clear and his emphasis on examples really makes a difference. He did originally state that the midterm mark could be replaced by the final mark, but then the midterm is worth 30% instead of 15% now. That was unfair.
Trudeau is the best Cal lecturer ever. Taking both of his Cal 1 and 2 really prepared me for future math courses.
He is a legend. Really patient and clear. Love him!
Once you start going to upper-level math courses, you will really miss having Trudeau as a lecturer. His lectures are concise, organized, and well-thought-out. He is quite tough and makes you work for your grade. If you do all the recommended textbook questions and tutorial questions... and review the lecture examples, you'll be fine.
take math with him is a really easy A, attained the class and you will be fine.
he's the best math prof ever
true legend. Easy A, take him if you can
He's really a cool prof. Explains well the material, the midterm was fair. The final was rather long and calculation heavy (which is kind of expected for Calculus 3 to be fair). Also, the fact that his online classes are on Youtube are kind of a little plus. You should probably take him if you can!
I took both math140 and 141 with him when I started at McGill. Don't treat these courses as being simple since they are the foundations and actually important. He is a great instructor who cares about teaching and students, being considerate, respectful, and fair. He loves to discuss questions with his students and help, seeing him before in BH911.
King of math!
Uncle Sid is a king, take him. His lectures are clear and concise, along with a lot of examples. Make sure to do most of the odd numbered questions on the textbook. The key to get an A in Sid's class is practicing. Very chill guy
Prof. Trudeau truly cares about his students. He answers any questions that students have, goes through many relevant examples in class, and is very encouraging! His lectures are very easy to follow and he breaks all the concepts down to make them as simple as possible. Completing textbook questions and all the webwork questions will get you an A!
He's very dedicated to teaching students and will help you if you need it. If you have a question though, definitely ask, because he does go over things very quickly and skips steps, but is very willing to answer questions and does so very clearly and kindly. You HAVE to do practice questions regularly to have the material sink in.
Had him for online Calc I and now Calc II. Really love his teaching style, very thorough and easy to follow. Encourages textbook usage for practice and it is definitely a good way to study and feel prepared. The online exams were definitely harder than the usual exam would be for this class but overall went well all around. Take Sid!!
Sid is an absolute beast. Such a casual down to earth dude always willing to help. Teaches the material well and clearly and walks you through exercises. Man is such a boss he even has a chalkboard installed in his house.
Trudeau is a living legend! Teaches and explains like a beast. Helps you out when needed. Brilliant math prof. 1000/10
Not usually a math person, but I really enjoyed MATH141 with Sid. His lectures utilize a lot of problems from the textbook to illustrate concepts which really helps with understanding. He gave his lectures through YouTube livestreams this semester which I thought worked really well.
Sid is the best prof ever!
Superb Professor! He wants all of his students to succeed. He spends the class working through practice problems, which reinforces key concepts. He wisely advises students to do as many odd numbered questions from the textbook to prepare for the exams. Do the work, and you'll do very well! Sid Trudeau is awesome - he makes you really enjoy math!
Great professor, explains material very clearly. Most of lectures are example problems. His calc 1 and calc 2 made me feel prepared to take future math courses and ultimately major in math. Textbook problems accurately reflect the difficulty and content of exams. Exams are worth a lllooot of the course mark which can b stressful but theyre fair
Sid Trudeau is like a stern father for whom you would have the utmost respect, despite never being able to form an emotional bond on account of him being more intelligent than you. Made his lectures convenient by using youtube instead of mycourses/streaming on zoom. Heed his warning to do every odd-numbered question in the book.
Awesome professor. His lectures were very informative and clear. His exams and grading were very fair. Overall I had a great experience!
Sid's the man. Content isn't too bad, and he thoroughly explains it too. Always looked forward to his class.
He's funny and explains things clearly. Not intimidating at all.
A wonderful professor! He explains things very clearly, he is always helpful and ready to explain to you the material that you didn't understand as many times as necessary. Assignments and exams were not too hard, though some questions on the final were a bit challenging.
This man is stern, he's scary, and he's genuinely the best. He is good at breaking down tough mathematical proofs and making them comprehensible. He's not nice, he knows he's the brightest man in the room, but man he is absolutely hilarious. He has no time for anyone's crap, but if you go in looking to learn, you will be just fine. We love Sid.
Exams not fair and thinks students marks are joke making everything unreasonably difficult.
Exam is worth a lot... and challenging
great prof, but the way calc 1 was structured this year was an absolute clusterfck... midterm was way too hard, leading to it being basically trashed and having the grade breakdown be 85% final, 15% homework. Totally unfair to a bunch of first years, but I prof trudeau tried his best to answer questions and make lectures engaging and fun.
Final worth 85% and was extremely difficult, very stressful for first year math students
Sidney Trudeau is the type of prof that you'd want to "copy-paste" in all departments. He'll probably be the best math prof you'll ever have. However, keep in mind that you still have to put effort cuz the exams are not easy.
Great prof, but the final was worth too much. Very stressful class.
AN AMAZING PROFESSOR!!!
Refuses to curve a midterm which was clearly ridiculous (e.g. question #9 90% of the class getting 0/10), an 85% final with a POST curve average of 54%, conceptually easy but computationally disgusting webworks, and no guidance other than "odd questions from the book". Not impressed.
Sid is a true gem. I had him for Calc this semester. I've taken calc before, but I've forgotten a lot of the concepts and he did a great job at breaking down difficult concepts and introducing new ones. I recommend going to his office hours, I discovered them later in the semester, although I wish I went from the beginning.
The final was worth 85% of the grade and the avg of the final was below passing after curving. Very unfair to first year students who were required to take this course.
prof trudeau is nice and will answer any question no matter how silly it is, but he will definitely sass you if he does think it's silly. midterm was fair, final was a little tricky
Its easy to fall behind by not actively practicing with the textbook but as he says at the beginning of the year, if you actually do the textbook questions each week then a good grade is attainable. Also go to his office hours- dont expect him to be all sweet and nice but he will help you and explain everything you ask him to.
Sid wants you to fail. He is undoubtedly a good professor, however his exams are designed to make you cry. He purposefully made the midterm impossible. He has bad intentions. I don't trust this man.
Do lots of textbook practice questions!
Very clear in his lectures but wants you to fail the midterm and cry after your final.
Good professor who made me like math a lot more. Midterm was very hard (average was around 50% I think) but the final was reasonable if you did as many practice questions as possible. He wants you to try hard and will make that basically necessary in order to get a good grade. If you aren't a math person, he will make you a math person.
do practice questions. Lectures were good, but not nearly enough to understand everything, it is so so easy to fall behind.
Prof Sydney was the best professor I've ever met in my life. His explanation is so clear and also going over some practice questions helped me a lot to understand the concepts. His midterm and final requires a lot of conceptual backgroud, which I felt a bit tough, but still if you managed to understand all the concepts it should be fine.
Material taught in class is MUCH easier than material that is tested. He does make it very obvious how you can do well in the course (do EVERY odd question in the book), but he doesn't tell you that it will take a lot of self-teaching to be able to do every odd question in the book. Averages were in the 40s-50s on midterm and final because of this.
The lectures are amazing and helpful. Give unlimited chances to submit the homework. The exam is more difficult than the homework but overall good.
He makes the class seem sooooo easy and then hits you with the hardest midterm you will ever take. It made me cry.
Sid is a great prof. His youtube streams were accessible, clear, and easy to ask questions in. The midterm and final were pretty difficult but he made it obvious what to study so overall it was pretty fair. Sid also has the tendency to lecture like a philosopher which is hilarious.
His lectures were very easy to follow and interesting. His pacing this year was a bit messed up (we had to have an extra class after classes ended to learn new content that was on the final the next day). However, if you do enough of the textbook problems then you'll be fine, but not everyone has time for that. Overall a good class
Trudeau does the easiest examples in class, and the rest is up to you. Exams/midterm questions are taken entirely from the textbook when they are in person. His lectures tend to run long, which can conflict with your other classes. If you know that the exams will be much harder than the in-class questions, you're fine. Get ahold of the textbook!!
An absolute beauty. One of my favourite professors and one of the most reputable professors at McGill university. You have to experience his teachings for at least one semester during your time at McGill. Although it may seem impossible, he somehow manages to make math lectures fun and entertaining!
I feel like he teaches the materials in a very complicated way. Following the textbook helps me better understand the material. Even though his exam questions all come from the textbook, he put a lot of difficult questions in the exams, and there are so many questions in the textbook. I didn't really have time to finish all of them.
Down to earth guy, answers emails quickly, really clear explanations of content. Exams are VERY difficult (final was almost all indeterminate forms) but he curves final grades to make up for it. Find his lectures on YouTube to see how he teaches, but he's honestly such a good prof.
sidney assumes that you have a previous understanding of calculus or have taken a calculus class before. I had no and was severely behind. Prof did not answer questions when I asked them he goes very quickly. I had friends who had previously taken a calc course and only barely passed
There was a 222 review a bit earlier that summarizes it well. He's a decent lecturer and very good at answering questions, but he kinda screwed up the pacing this semester which made the final a fair bit harder. Most students can do well with enough textbook practice but his lectures were pretty inefficient because of the snail's pace.
Great lectures
The great legend he is
What can I say that hasn't already been said. Trudeau is a great guy and a great professor. My only issue with him this year was that he fell behind in teaching the material so we had to have an extra class the day before the exam to cover it.
Great person, deserves our honesty & hard-work :D
70% Final %15 Midterm and %14 Webwork %1 Survey. He gave us the option of shifting our Midterm to our final if we did badly, as some people didn't do well. However, the midterm was very fair, I just wasn't ready at the time. I recommend trying and finishing 500+ textbook problems by the time of the final, focusing on your weak points. Good luck!
He barely gives you exercises to prepare for the final and midterm except for a dozen of webworks. His tests are extremely hard and don't represent the material and he never properly explains hard exercises in class. He always skips steps and does them in his head. If you have the option try to take math 139.
The final is unimaginably difficult. And it counts 70%. The level of difficulty of the final has nothing to do with what he has taught in class. The average was C last winter. I'm so pissed off because I've put so much effort into this course, and got nearly perfect scores on the midterm, but may still get B. It may ruin my passion for math.
Took this course having two years prior calc experience and feeling really confident with my understanding. Failed the midterm despite feeling comfortable with all the content and studying a decent amount. final is insanely hard. made me never want to take math again. I think there was nothing I could have done to do well. was doomed from the jump
Midterm was easy but finals was literally one of the hardest exams I've ever taken. Doesn't matter if you studied or not this 70% final will HUMBLE you. also xe^(-1/x) if you know you know.
f(x)=xe^(-1/x) iykyk, a whole term's worth of work boiling up to one three-hour exam that was grossly over-complicated. At a certain point, you have two choices; spend hundreds of hours doing every question in the textbook or leave your hopes and dreams in the hands of the university, hoping that they manage to convince Sid to curve the scores up.
I have nothing good to say. This course absolutely crushes your spirit. The final exam was worth 70% to 85%. and the content was harder than everything covered in lectures, assignments and tutorials.
The final was impossible (and worth 70% of final grade). Despite having a good understanding of the material, doing well on the midterm (I got 90%, average was 61%), attending every lecture, and then studying for a cumulative 70 hours for the final (doing hundreds of textbook questions), I found the exam incredibly difficult. Lectures good though.
Incredibly difficult final exam. I took AP Calculus in high school and have a very solid understanding. I did every textbook question and still performed badly. I feel the grading scheme overlooks dedicated students who have a good grasp of concepts as it is so exam heavy. Due to impossible exams, so many students who understand the class fail it.
This class is a bunch on random not super hard concepts. You have to go to the lectures as there are no slides and he seems to at things at random. Get 100% on webworks, midterm was fairly straightforward and I didn't study, final was online. Funky prof, often left the lectures semi confused, but workload it extremely light
Trudeau gives excellent, straightforward lectures and has regular office hours if you need to reach him outside of class. Some previous experience with calculus is definitely important but technically not required. Final exam was very challenging and worth 70% of the grade so even if you are comfortable with the concepts you must study A LOT
He explains concepts clearly and is helpful answering questions in lecture. However, the examples he does in class are much easier than what's on the final, and are not sufficient to prepare you. Despite getting a 95 on the midterm, I barely passed the final (worth 70% of course grade!). You NEED to do textbook questions all semester to prepare.
Sid is an amazing professor. He's charismatic, engaging, organized, and detailed. A great guy, great prof, and just an absolute legend. The course itself is weighted on only a few things so watch out for that and do lots of textbook questions. Go to his lectures, they're worth it. Don't think I'd have made it through this class without him as prof.
Sid's lectures are very logical and straightforward. He genuinely wants you to do well and is good with explaining things at office hours. His midterm (worth only 10-15%) is very easy in comparison to the final, so make sure to keep up with the textbook questions and ask right away if you don't understand something. Overall, he is a McGill icon.
I don't know who hurt Sidney Trudeau but his exams are brutally unfair. I wasn't registered for his section but the exam he wrote did not reflect what I was taught in the other section or the supposed textbook problems it was based on.
The grading scheme is 1% survey, 14% hw, 15% midterm, 70% final. Sid is a great lecturer, but the tests are horrendous and do not compare to classwork. You will only do well on the tests if you do the practice problems and happen to remember ALL of them. This class is HARD. You have to dedicate a lot of time to it in order to pass.
I trolled this class but Sid is the goat. They gotta hire him as an extra on a sitcom or something.
I find Trudeau to be brutally overhyped. His lecture style is boring and impersonal (which I understand because its a LOT of students) but the way he teaches just isn't captivating + I'd much rather he release weekly webworks that serve as practice so I dont have to just rely on the textbook. I'm praying so hard that I pass 141.
Sid is an okay lecturer (depending on who you ask); for people naturally good at math he's fine, if you're not one of those you might have a hard time. The grading scheme is different for 141 in the fall vs winter - take fall as the final is worth way less (Sid doesn't teach 141 in fall) just stay on top of textbook questions and go to class.
He focuses more on applications rather than concepts like what other lecturers did. Most of the questions he went through in class are from textbook examples, if you didn't have the time to go to class just read the textbook. I would still suggest taking his class because he is the course coordinator and writes the final exam questions.
I was overall pleasantly surprised by this course, especially in comparison to MATH 140. His lectures are clear, relatively straight-forward, and focused on either theory that he believes is relevant to coursework or just a walk-through of certain textbook questions. Really tough marking scheme, but put in the work, and you'll be fine!
I found that his lectures were fun and easy and then struggled in the exams because they were surprisingly really difficult in comparison and I was not prepared. I still love this guy though
222 was definitely a hard course, but just focus on the odd questions in the textbook (no need to pay too much attention to the ones near the end that are extremely difficult with proofs and stuff). Lectures weren't recorded so attendance is kinda mandatory (or I guess there's the youtube playlist). Final wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be.
Sid is a great speaker and knows math super well. He can be condescending and a bit old-fashioned, which is why some people dislike him imo. Lectures are not recorded but you can find old ones on his youtube channel. The difficulty of 140+141 is highly dependent on how comfortable you already are with calc. Grind out the textbook problems for sure
This class is very textbook-heavy, and the exam questions all come from the textbook. Lectures are not recorded and lecture notes are not posted, so showing up to class is important. Trudeau is helpful during office hours, and he replies to emails quickly. Don't mess up on the final because it's 75% of your grade.
Gandalf if he chose math and was unstable.
75% final exam....
While Sid's grading schemes are a little bit insane (70% final for 140, 75% final for 141), he lectures exceptionally well and tells you exactly what you need to do to succeed. It is possible to do very well if you put the work in. (...I didn't fully put the work in hence the C+)
Where do I begin. Sid is just truly amazing. It's rare that a teacher at McGill actually cares about teaching and Sid really does. Doesn't go too fast, explains clearly, and has fair exams. Just do the textbook problems and you'll be prepared for exams. Also has fire outfits.
Had him in the summer really good teacher, explains everything, really helpful, he wants to help students. He makes hard exams though. But if you study enough you should be fine.
Gooooooooooooooooood professor with excellent test that you can never self-study
GGWP go next
Tests are very difficult but is a very good teacher.
Sid's a great prof. His lectures were (for the most part) interesting and engaging and I really appreciated the time he spent going over example problems for difficult topics. The final was difficult but fair - study the textbook problems like he advises and you'll be fine.
Fun, silly guy. Always available & responds to emails fast (and in all lowercase lol). Very reasonable assessments. Make sure to pay attention to his in-class examples. After the reading break, he showed up to class super red. He also did an optional lecture on a Sunday. Iconic.
Sid's humour and clarity made linear algebra interesting. His exams can be difficult, but are fair. He has plenty of office hours and a good team of TAs, so there are ways to get help if you need it.
Minimal homework makes this course load nice and easy, but BEWARE: EXAMS ARE SCARY. While Sidney tends to be more than generous with his grading (like seriously I thought I failed both exams and ended up scoring over 85 on both) taking the exams can make you question your intelligence since this is praised as a bird course (which it def is lol).
I'm syd trudeau. Assignments what are those? How bout one test that everyone fails. Yeah in all seriousness, I'd rather have a pound of flesh removed from my body for every question on the final then spend another second in the presence of this guy never mind take his class again.
If you care about your gpa do not take math 222 with Sid. impossibly long final no matter how much you practice. good prof but unfair final.
he is extremely difficult and this class has a huge fail rate, its ridiculous. His final exam is worth 85% and it's only 20 questions. Basically it's impossible to pass and his advice to do something about your grade is to not try and retake the makeup exam and to retake the entire course instead. He is no help
Have taken both 133 and 141 with Sid and he was one of the best profs here at McGill. Extremely fair and reasonable midterms and finals, everything was directly from the concepts of the lectures. Tbh the textbook questions are fine but not necessary, understanding the basic concepts would be sufficient enough for an A.
Best teacher I've had so far at McGill. Very caring and respectful to his students. Lectures are super concise and easy to follow; just make sure to go to class as there are no notes posted. If you work hard in this class and focus on understanding the material you're guaranteed to do well. Tests are super fair. Great humor as well.
Thank you!!
Super quick to respond to emails, helpful professor, exams are honestly easy and just test the basics of the concepts.
Just do not take his course, a D average for calculus3? WTF
Unfair and unreasonable exam.
Not friendly for self-study
LOL he is an amazing lecturer
I really enjoyed his lectures since he has a very engaging speech which is very uncommon for McGill professors, but he made an unreasonable and intense final. D average on final WTF. He only curved it only by 2%. Don't take it with him if you care about your GPA. I have no idea why would he do this to his students. It was already tough without TAs
People here are wrong. The Final average was FFFFF. WTF. 0.47497368421 was the average for the final test. He made it unreasonably hard.
The final and midterm were very hard. I managed to do all exercices from the book but the final was so much harder than the questions from the textbook .The final's average on the long answer portion was 36 % and on the multiple choice portion 51%. This is not normal!!! I honestly don't know why did he do that to us but it's not fair
Do not skip lectures. Do tons of practice problems outside of class if you want to succeed on the midterm and final. The actual graded workload is minimal, so getting the extra practice in definitely takes some extra commitment.
Good lecturer, but terrible exams. His course ruined my mental health and made me change my major.
Yes exams are difficult but Sid is a very good lecturer and cares for students, if you put in the work it pays off. There was a generous curve on the final since my final letter grade was supposed to be two letter grades lower than what I actually got. Just make sure you do good relative to the class.
Lucky to have had Trudeau for both MATH222 and MATH 133. The lectures were amazing and the explanations were clear, but midterm and final count for the majority of the grade. Tests are very doable, but long. DO LOTS OF TEXTBOOK QUESTONS!!! One of the best profs tho imo
How to do well in this course is straightforwards. Go to lectures, tutorials, and office hours. Do all recommended work as well. While I found his exams to be pretty challenging and weighted very high I think, in the long run, everything was very fair. He is a great lecturer and I would love to take another course with him.
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU CARE ABOUT GPA. Honestly, before the TAs went on strike, at least we could get help from TAs. I got 97% from assignments and 98% from the midterm and only received a B+ for the final grade. The calculations and difficulty for the final were unreasonable and the majority of the questions were multiple-choice.
A great prof. Makes me love math. Go to office hours & he'll help you understand anything. Calc 222 was a disaster. Average F on the final. We waste 30mins talking abt "closed and bounded" and run out of time for heavily tested triple integrals. Take his course. You'll learn. But watch out for your GPA, you'll lose it, if not careful. Practice.
Very bad in terms of grading. Never take a course with him
very hard final with a very low average score
if you take MATH 222 with him again, good luck.
Amazing lecturer, cool, accessible to his students outside of class. He explains content well and gives a good progression of example problems in class. The midterm was easy + straightforward. The only problems: we never seem to finish the content on time (took 2 courses with him), and the final was horrible (but there were unique circumstances).
He's a great teacher and very helpful both in and out of class. If you take his class make sure to study, like any other course. Overall, I would take Trudeau's class again.
He does not post any notes and made preparing and studying for exams and midterm difficult especially for first year students.
Professor Trudeau's class is challenging, but engaging. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try unstuckstudy AI for extra practice - it really helped me prepare for exams.
kkjjjjjkkk
very hard midterm much harder than previous years
Chill guy, good professor. MATH140 is a lot of high school calculus review, so it's not super needed to go to all the lectures if you already know the content. Exams are from odd-numbered textbook problems and there's a few short assignments over the semester, so just do those.
Great prof. I took 1.5-hour lectures, and it didn't feel like time dragged. Most people who don't like him just lack rigor. If you do all the stuff he says, like the textbook homework questions, you're set to do well.
great prof, didn't make me feel scared/embarrassed to ask questions during class. explains very well. the webworks and in-class questions aren't nearly as hard as the exams, don't think you can do well just with doing well at those. you MUST do textbook questions, at least hundreds. i didn't realize that until it was too late!
I love the class vibe. This professor is very patient and explains everything clearly. But I think the midterm and final exam are tough, at least compared to the Webwork questions.
Very caring and kind professor. Take him if you can, he'll make you appreciate math so much more. However, his exams can be difficult.
Really liked 180 with Sid, it's very interesting and provides a new way of looking at math, he was open to questions and helpful with answers. Exams were tricky, but grading was fair.
Very smart and straight to the point. Will usually explain a concept, then do a bunch of example questions for the whole class which is really nice. Exams were not too difficult but didn't have many questions so a wrong answer lost a lot of points. Do tons of textbook questions they are super helpful and come up in exams.
He does amazing lectures! They were very clear and easy to understand. In my opinion, the WebWorks and midterm were fair. The final was extremely difficult though, and dropped my grade a lot. He is honestly iconic but just be prepared for that final (WebWorks, lecture/tutorial questions, and midterm questions are not even close to the difficulty).
Sid is an amazing lecturer and professor. His lectures are engaging and easy to follow, and he lays out exactly what one needs to do to succeed in the course. Very helpful office hours, would recommend attending. If you follow his instructions and practice with the textbook, you will ace this course.
Personally, Sid's teaching style did not mesh well with mine as the content was conveyed through dense lectures that focused on solving practice problems from the textbook. He's a prof who wants you to succeed, but it can be challenging to do well in this course if his teaching style doesn't work for you. Make sure to practice a ton of questions!!
He is very lecture-heavy, so even though attendance is not mandatory, you definitely should attend. He also does not post slides (he only uses the chalkboard) and does not record class, so try to get a seat up close. It's clear what your exams will have; he will tell you from day one. However, his exams are tough, so practice a LOT.
Final very highly weighted on the grading schemes and very difficult. He does everything on the black board and it was hard to see unless I sat in front. All of the practice in class and also all questions on the exams are from the book. His lectures were packed and it was hard to find seats because he doesn't record them.
you can't really see anything unless you're sitting in the front. you have to attend lectures since they are not recorded. honestly... the class would have been much more accessible if an ipad to write on had been used (like every other first-year course)
Prof. Trudeau is amazing, but only in lectures. He doesn't record anything (you MUST attend class, often overcrowded), he writes on a blackboard (hard to see), and the course breakdown is extremely cutthroat. Homework, 1 midterm, final, that's it. You HAVE to do well on the midterm (90%+) or else you're in trouble. Final is notoriously difficult.
Absolutely no lecture recordings,so you either have to go to each one or completely go off the textbook. There's literally only 3 grades- homework (webwork), a midterm, and a final. Exams are extremely hard, but most questions are taken from the textbook, so if you practice those enough you will be fine. He's a funny guy though, I'll give him that!
just put the fries in the bag bro (he's chill but none of his lectures are recorded and theyre hella packed)
Lectures were incredibly helpful; 85% of the time was spent on solving problems, which works really well for a plug-and-chug class like Calc 1. It makes the tutorials somewhat redundant. It's clear that Sid has mastered the art of teaching calculus. Skip your sections and come to his.
very easy A
Great guy and prof. Hosts office hours which are great to go to if you're stuck. He likes to connect with students and has the goal of everyone really understanding the course. If you do all the odd numbered textbook questions you should be set for the exams as all the questions are taken directly from there. Multiple choice can be tricky.
amazing lecturer (if you can find a seat), and fair exams since all problems are from the textbook. nothing negative to say about this guy, the only thing is just that this course has so much material it's extremely difficult if you have little to no experience with calc. but doable if you grind the textbook questions and get help from youtube
Super good at what he does, just consistently do practice outside of class. I was lucky since I covered most of the topics in high school already (just not AP/IB, so didn't have the extra credits) & barely had to do any practice. His in-class reviews are great before the exam! - pretty exam heavy, but that's standard for math classes I feel
Professor Trudeau is one of the best math professors I've ever had. His lectures are clear and he goes through many examples which solidifies my understanding of each topic covered. He is very accessible outside of class and responds to email really quickly. His YouTube videos were very helpful as well.
Although he does not take attendance, there is a reason his lectures are always full; he does not post lecture recordings or slides; everything is done in class on the chalkboard. He is old-fashioned, and if you don't understand the material, your grade will reflect it. However, MT/exam questions are directly from the textbook, so study those.
Sid is a very nice professor. He spends most of the class time on exercices, which is great. However, as someone who isn't good at math, his teaching style can be confusing most of the time since he goes pretty fast. The first exam was very fair, the final was pretty bad. He does offer an alternative grading scheme though.
Absolutely amazing prof, motivated me to trek up to mcmed and did not skip a single lecture. He may seem intimidating during lectures but he is super approachable during office hours and really tries to make sure you understand the concept. He made calc so interesting and truly showed the beauty of math. and make sure to do all the odd num ques!
My goat Sid I cannot praise this guy enough. Do every odd problem in the book and mark his words every lecture! Trudeau away everyone, I was waiting every lecture for him to convince me!
This professor was heavily idealised before I started this class, so perhaps I came with high expectations. However, he seemed to overexplain simple concepts learned in high school. He did do a lot of practice problems, which helped to learn. He also tricked us by making the midterm easy and the final disgustingly hard. Very Mediocre Prof.
