I took Professor Goodale for History 5. I really enjoyed her class and she was always willing to answer any questions after class. She really wants her students to succeed and is willing to help you raise your grade on the weekly quizzes if you turn in quality notes by the end of the week on Friday for full credit. I will definitely miss her.
She is very organized. Every week there's a online quiz, if you weren't able to answer the quiz she'll let you answer it, but you should've at least notes from the book. She wants everyone to be successful. She helps students that is having hard time in her class. Her exams are pretty easy if you listen to her lectures. I learned a lot!!
Extremely demanding class, Tough grader on assignments and this can lead to not feel enough to perform in her online class. Hist5 Online
Took 10 week online class- Tough grader on discussion boards & responses to classmates. Tests/quizzes are meant to confuse you. Lecture material is heavy.
Does Not allow any technology Including phones, tablets and laptops. Classroom is always dark, and because you cant use technology its hard to write down notes in the dark. Lectures are relatively boring, mostly power points and most of the videos are very boring. She seems like a nice professor but she needs to improve her class.
Took her history class this past semester and although the class is very easy, she is difficult to deal with. When students have questions it seems to be a burden for her to answer them. Has favorites and definitely a lot of unfavorites, which she makes blatantly obvious. Lets her views be known and just isn't the sweetest person.
i really enjoyed taking this class with prof goodale! she's very educated and seems to have a good understanding of what she's lecturing on. she does have unannounced in class papers to write and you cant make them up, they're worth a lot of your grade so make sure you go. otherwise i enjoyed it!
LOVED this class. Professor Goodale is sweet and goes out of her way to help students. I had to miss class because my husband was in the hospital and she was so helpful and understanding. Lectures are easy to follow and assignments are straightforward. Will take her class again next semester.
I learned so much in Goodales class. we learned about freedom and how many people were not free in this nations history. we also learned about women and lgbtq rights and I honestly personally feel like this was the best learning experience in college for me . she lets you make up papers and she is very easy to talk to.
I wasn't looking forward to taking this class, but Professor Goodale made the subject much more interesting than I expected. Expectations were clear and if you keep up with readings and assignments you should get an A. She tries to connect history to stuff that's going on now, which kept me interested. Already signed up for her class next semester.
Really cares about her students! She wants everyone to do well
Take this professor! Seriously she's great. Im thinking about changing my major from political science to history because of her class. She's probably one of the best professors at saddleback imo
Goodale is refreshingly organized in pretty much everything she presents. Most of class time is dedicated to lecture with a few videos thrown in every now and then. Weekly online quizzes from the text, points awarded for weekly notes, 4 in-class writing assignments, a multiple choice mid-term and final. The work is light and she knows her stuff.
Defenately one of the best professors Ive taken so far at OCC.
I'm taking Professor Goodale's class right now. She's really great. It's clear what you need to do to get a good grade. You have to upload your notes from class every week and also take a reading quiz. Sometimes you have to listen to a podcast or watch a video outside of class but they are really cool. I'm so happy I decided to take this class!
Took Professor Goodale's class last semester. I should've taken her this semester too. Definitely one of the better professors out there. Compared to others she makes it very easy to know how to get a good grade and what to do before tests. She's organized, just don't use your phone in class too much
She's very organized. Her class is easy and straightforward.
I liked this course and this teacher a lot, she wasn't biased and gave all perspectives to every topic that was reviewed. It wasn't like any other World History class that I have taken before. Tests are fairly easy, just study. Her homework assignments are very simple and quick to do. Her passion for history shows through in her teaching.
This started out as a normal class but we had to go online. Our of all my professors, professor Goodale's class was the most straight forward. I feel like I still have to work in her class but at least I know what I need to do every week. She posts short lecture videos and also things like podcasts and other stuff. Not sure about the final yet.
Prof. Goodale was a great instructor. Her class online was very organized. You can see her passion for history. I'm not a fan of history but her class was very interesting. Tough grader and a lot of work and reading. There's a quiz every week plus discussion . She does give extra credit and wants you to succeed. Do all assignments you should be ok
I took her class online this year because of covid, and although her lectures are in depth she was the least accommodating in terms of wifi cutting out. Her attitude with that is get better wifi oh well. Her work is pretty straightforward though but it is a lot, so expect to be working on history work every day.
Amazing professor. Taking her class right now. She really cares about all her students. I totally forgot to turn in an assignment and she let me make it up without taking off any points. I think she just really cares.
Her online class is really organized compared to some other professors. She has the same deadlines every week. Her class is a lot of work though. But at least you know what to expect and her exams aren't hard. She also gives extra credit.
she mostly assigns her own videos and you have to take notes on the videos and submit them every week. She's really nice and she responds to emails right away. I think it would be nice if she gave more time on tests, but they aren't that bad though compared to some other peoples.
I took her online class because of covid. I don't normally take online classes, but I would take another class with professor Goodale. If anything her online classes are easier than going to class and they are also interesting. Not a lot of reading, mostly watching videos.
Honestly probably the best class I've ever taken online. She makes it easy but not so easy its a waste of time. You still feel like you learn something.
Her tests are hard because answers are mostly not on quizlet or chegg but she is literally the sweetest professor and she cares so much about her students.
Probably one of the easiest and most straightforward classes I've ever taken online. It's not hard to pass. The professor posts lecture videos with animals and pictures. You don't have to read a lot. It's pretty cool.
This professor is really sweet. She let's you make up work even if you have missed a lot of work you won't fail if you email her.
So, I would actually like to recommend this professor whole heartedly, especially if you are into history. I thought the class might be kinda boring but it covers some pretty great topics and its pretty easy to pass too. In my humble opinion this professor is really smart and she is passionate about teaching. 10/10 would take her class again.
Great class.
Lots of lectures, although she brings in a lot of really interesting bits of history. You will learn some uncommon factoids. She seems very passionate and knowledgeable about her subject. Grades heavily on thorough note-taking, so get ready to write! Does not seem to give much in depth feedback, rather, I got many "good jobs!" on assignments.
She is sweet and caring and lets you make up work if you miss a deadline. I was working two jobs and it was a stressful semester but it worked out because I could make up assignments. She also grades things fast with lots of feedback compared to my other professors.
Easy A.
Really organized. Every week is the same schedule. It's easy to figure out what to do to get a good grade. I appreciated that because some professors are not so organized.
The class is heavily relied on note taking. You wont get fully graded if you take concise notes. You will have to write every single point she makes in the lecture. Get ready to spend hours every day to just type.
Most time-consuming class I've ever taken. 30 videos a week, some are an hour others are 3 minutes. 2 reading quizzes, the tests are extremely hard and a discussion post. This is coming from someone who has As on all their transcripts. avoid this class if you want to have a life. Clearly the professor has no regard for her students time.
Easy A. Take notes and you'll pass. The exams aren't hard.
Easy A. Pretty entertaining class if you like history.
Best class ever. Prof. Goodale is great! She really cares about her students.
Pretty cool class overall. I feel like I learned some neat facts.
As some others have said, professor goodale is pretty easygoing. She allows makeups and it is not hard to pass. I don't know how lazy someone would have to be to get a bad grade in this class.
Good mix of videos and podcasts. You don't have to read a ton. Heavily graded on notes though, so be prepared to spend some time on this class.
honestly dont take this class if you have any other courses or even a life. i understand 8 week courses are suppose to be hard but 28 videos in one week??? and notes with 2 quizzes and 3 discussion posts??? no make up assignments for any credit??? sometimes people make mistakes and this prof does not get a single care about it, horrible.
Awesome professor! Some people are complaining that you have to watch "28 videos" but some of them are literally less than 2 minutes short. Others are like ten minutes. The class is super easy if you do even the bare minimum.
I liked this class a lot and I'm kinda sad its almost done. There was a fair amount of work but not too much. The class was fun and interesting. The shorter videos break things up. I like that the professor has so many of her own videos because it makes the class feel super personal.
She gives extra credit and allows makeups plus the videos are mostly pretty interesting. I'm considering taking her next semester too. I recommend her class. It's so much easier and more interesting than other classes I'm taking this semester.
This class was pretty chill. Every week was the same in terms of deadlines and it honestly wasn't too difficult. The only thing I would say is do the work early because if you wait until the last minute it can get stressful. But other than that this was a good class and I recommend the professor.
History 4 with professor Goodale gets an A+ grade from me ;) I wish more professors were like her.
I would recommend professor goodale. I had a work issue this past semester and she was really understanding which took a lot of stress off.
I think its funny how some people are complaining about too many videos. Yes but like most of them are 5 minutes long?? This class was very manageable compared to other online classes I've taken in the past. I like how the schedule is the same every week. You always know what to expect which is super helpful.
Hands down one of the best professors I have ever come across. Take her class!
The professor was very organized and caring.
Professor Goodale is one of the best professors at Saddleback College. I loved her class. I am a history major but still I think most people would like it. She gives extra credit and is very understanding if you have personal issues going on.
Would recommend this class. The professor gives extra credit and doesn't care too much about deadlines as long as you get your stuff in.
Very fun class and the professor is very easy going and helpful.
Professor Goodale is easy going and super nice. Take her class!
I took second eight week class. This class is not easy, get ready to read and take careful notes!
I really liked her class. I definitely recommend it. She gives extra credit and she is understanding about missing deadlines.
Professor Goodale was always very nice in my declingers with her. She was police and respectful which I appreciate more than most. I am someone who cares about formalities and orderliness. I like when professors aer nice. I drop classes is a professor is rude or demanding. I also likes that she gives warnings when smith is due soon.
If you have a life outside of this class, don't take history with Goodale. Doesn't give time off for occasions such as Spring break and gives lenghty assignments. Good luck.
Even though it's an online class, It seems like I'm having to put all my time into this one. The notes are extremely extensive and the quizzes are set up to confuse you.
Why are there so many videos?! The class is very demanding of your time and don't be surprised when you see how many notes you have to take
This is not an easy class, wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who doesn't like doing notes all day. You can do extra credit but it only brings you up 1 point.
The class isn't too difficult but it really requires your time. There are usually up to 28 videos that you have to take notes on and some are even over an hour long. If you're good at taking notes you'll do okay, just don't fall behind because you can't turn in late work.
Three reasons: Extra credit, make-up extra chances, and cool videos. Would take this professor again. I already signed up for another class with her in the fall.
I appreciated this professor very much. Not too much "busy work" only work that helps you on tests. She explained everything very well. She let me make up a few times when I missed turning in something.
Best professor I have taken at Saddleback hands down. Take her class!
Professor Goodale is super organized. She always writes back straight away when I email her. Her class is set up so it is easy to follow along and there are no surprises. Every week is the same. It saved me a lo t of stress compared to other classes. If you are OCD Like me to you should take this class with professor Goodale.
Not too difficult to get a good grade in this class. You et many changes for turning in homework late and it isn't hard to do.
Professor Goodale is very nice about accepting work late when you miss a deadline. I recommend taking her class.
I would take another class with this prof again if she was teaching another one that I needed.
Sif is genuinely amazing. Ive never had lower than a 94 in her class. Once a week there is a quiz on the chapter, a discussion board, and notes. Super easy and a great way to earn an A. Definitely take Professor Goodale!!!!
This class is too difficult. I understand college classes are tough but this class made all of my hair fall out from stress. I still have anxiety from this course. Please save your gpa.
This class was very hard! I struggled a lot. You have to put two hours or more daily. Decision up to you!
This class was really hard for me, you have to put time and take notes for more than five hours daily. Exams were pretty hard too!
While this class requires a lot of work, it is definitely rewarding and you'll learn a lot. Each week is structured the exact same so you know what to expect. Professor Goodale is really quick when it comes to responding to messages. Expect to take many notes, but you'll have a week to complete them. Overall I would take Professor Goodale again!
This class is predictable. Every week is the same structure which is really helpful. No surprises. Just do the work and move on. Not a lot of really long projects of complicated group work. I wish other classes were structured more like Professor Goodale's class.
Professor Goodale's class is an easy A.
I enjoyed the class I took with professor Goodale. Would definitely recommend.
Loved this class, the professor will make you work for your grade but the way the class is set up the material is fun to learn.I took her online class and this is the first fully online class that I enjoyed, the professor gave great feedback and gave opportunities for the students to give her feedback.I feel like I learned and grew from this class.
Professor Goodale assigns extra credit and she is super nice about letting people submit late. No big surprises everything is laid out beforehand.
Though class you have to put at least 2 hour daily.
I don't recommend this class, because It was just way to much work :))) You have to watch 2hour lecture videos and memorize everything.
Would definitely recommend this class. Professor Goodale is super organized and very kind and understanding.
This class was horrible. The quizzes were ridiculous. They're open book, open note so I put the answer the book put. Low and behold, the answer was wrong.... Probably requires about 15-20 hours of work a week.
Professor Goodale's class was an easy A.
One of the best classes I have ever taken at saddleback! Professor Goodale is super organized and her class is so much fun.
Professor Goodale was super understanding when I couldn't finish my homework because i had to work late. She let me turn things in for full credit. Saved my GPA this semester. THANK YOU!
I would definitely recommend Dr. Goodall's class if you need a history class for your GE. I am a computer science major and I always considered history a waste of time but Goodall wasn't as bad as most other professors.
Professor Goodall is super sweet and gives extra credit. Take her class!
I don't know how anyone could find it hard. But I guess everyone is at a different level. Some people struggle with basic comprehension I guess. I liked her professor Goodale is really passionate but I never felt patronized or treated like a middle school student with dumb projects or busy work.
Too much work for a simple history class!!! Lectures are all recorded and 2-3 hour long. I dont recommend taking this course.
It's all about random facts that really don't matter such as "how many of these events happened" or "what year did this happen." You're quizzed on details rather than learning how to look at history through a larger scope and the bigger picture. Soooo much homework with mandatory notes.
All tests are open-note and open-book. She gives make ups on everything. I would take her class again. Super easy.
After not knowing what my major would be for so long, I finally settled on history because of Professor Goodale's class. I hope to be a teacher too some day. She is so passionate about her work and it shows.
She spends a lot of time in her online course with her face on the screen, it'd be way more helpful to have powerpoint notes for us to follow along rather than just staring at her the whole time. Absurd amount of time required for this class.
Her class is mostly videos and not just reading like some other professor online. Exams are pretty easy all open notes no lock down browser or anything like that.
this is probably the worst prof I have ever had. I took this class over the summer and regret it. she is not open to hearing what you have to say and is not easy to reach. she is not understanding and is very strict. would not recommend.
In one lecture, she made the argument that the Aztec human sacrifice really isn't that bad because all countries ask their citizens to sacrifice. She makes very strange comparisons and it can be very demeaning to veterans that sacrificed their life for their country to compare it to ritual human sacrifice from the Aztecs.
She doesn't even open her modules on time. She restricts when you can take each part of the course to certain parts of the week which is very difficult if you have a job/things going on outside school. Then, when you're supposed to be allowed to take your final, she has it under unpublished modules!!! Ridiculous...
On the gradebook, it showed the class would be done on August 1st. Low and behold, on July 31st Sif changed the gradebook and made the final exam due on Aug 13th. She also didn't even understand what capitalism is, she used it interchangeably with silver coins during a time period, 16th century, in which Spain was mercantilist. What a joke.
Lecture heavy with really hard exams. I had to take notes +60 min daily for this course.
If you have time to study and take notes for over 2hours daily or even more only for history take her,
Why is it that it's Monday morning, when modules are supposed to open, and there isn't an available module in the final week? She's gatekeeping the final to a two day period ignoring the fact this is an online, asynchronous course. Some of us have jobs and need to plan our lives, not wait for an arbitrary time to take our final.
Easy format, every week is the same. She is forgiving on deadlines.
Easy and pretty forgiving professor. She's not so strict which is nice when you have full time job.
This class was lecture heavy and homework took me more than an hour daily. If you can only take one class in one semester and it's history take her. Do not recommend.
Too much work for a history class!! Lectures are all recorded and 2-3 hour long. Decision up to you!!!
She says a lot of great things about her favorite historian Mary Beard, the same woman who said about 9/11 "America had it coming." It's pretty clear from her lectures that Sif is vehemently anti American and anti Westerner and lacks the capability to be an unbiased teacher.
Want to watch back-to-back documentaries that consume the majority of your time? Do you want to listen to the never ending yap session regarding ancient societies? Do you want terrible deadlines and improper amounts of time to study? If you don't want any of what's described, STAY FAR AWAY from this class. I could list way more if I had the space.
I had this class with only one other STEM class, and I had to put in much more time for this one. There was so much material to learn, and the workload wasn't even manageable! I barely passed!!!
Very sweet professor. She cares about her students and is so helpful.
Professor Goodale's class is very easy and organized.
I likedprofessor Goodaleclass a lot when I took it in the fall. She was nice and unederstanding about deadlines an.
Dr. Godall's class was definitely not the easiest class I've taken but not the hardest ever. It was a medium amount of work but I'd say you'll get a pretty decent grade if you even half way try at all. I think you'd have to be pretty dumb not to do well but still you have to study a little bit (easy though). I recommend the class.
Hardest history class I have ever had.
Exams were really hard and the amount of work was insane, I said goodbye to my 4.0 after this class.
Decent class. I liked the content and the teaching style especially because it was mostly videos and not so much reading.
I like that she cares about the opinion of her students. She takes polls and tailors her class to what students want that semester.
the class is not too hard because there is not a lot of reading. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of reading and in my other online classes there has been so much reading. this class was mostly watching videos which was pretty neat.
I took this class last semester & the tests were extremely hard. There are lecture videos that you should watch & take careful notes. It was definitely not an easy class.
Professor G went out of her way to make sure everyone was always kept in the lopp. She noticed several times when I haden't submitted something and was so kind to send me a nice email reminder to make sur ei never missed a deadline. I never had a professor care so much.
This class was one of the hardest GE classes I have ever had. You have to watch every single lecture and take careful notes. I do not recommend her class at all!
This was by far the easiest class I ever took at Saddleback. I wish more professors was like professor goodale,
Professor Goodale is a kindhearted woman. She cares about her students. Would recommend her class.
I thought professor goodall's class was pretty easy considering I hated history in high school. I was fully prepared to hate this class too but it wasn't the worst. For sure recommend this if you don't like memorizing random dates.
This class was very hard, so many lectures to watch and take notes.
Probably one of the easiest classes I've ever taken tbh. Homework was easy, tests were easy, not so much reading. Deadlines are not hard. This class really helped by GPA.
So far this summer class is going pretty good. The professor seems nice and not too worried about deadlines. Pretty reasonable especially for a summer class.
This professor is super nice. I literally have not ever had a nicer professor than her. She is always friendly and puts a smile on her face and just is a breeze!
STAY AWAY, SAVE YOURSELF, THIS WOMAN RUINED MY SUMMER AND I COULDN'T WARN YOU MORE, PLS DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, I spend hours on end every week locked in my room and if you have any sort of life, it will be taken away from you if you take her course.
This was the hardest history class I've ever taken. Be ready to spend 10 hours a day on homework!!!! Good luck!!!!!
The tests were incredibly hard! Decision up to you!
just no.
I don't know what all the hate is about. I liked Goodales class and thought it was pretty easy. It's nice how she is very understanding if you miss a deadline. Her class was way easier than other classes I have taken and didn't feel demanding but I guess it's hard for some people.
Finishing up a summer class and I'm pretty confident I'll get an A. I have signed up with professor Goodale again in the fall so I guess that's my recommendation.
Took for GE and it was pretty easy overall. Just don't fall behind.
I appreciate that professor goodale is very caring to her students. I had a very hard summer due to some personal issues and professor goodale was sweet and caring and in the end it worked out ok/
Professor Goodale is very sweet and caring. I personally loved learning about the history of buddhism which I feel like they never talk about in other history classes.
Such a hard class! Exams were so so hard. I had to spend +5 hours everyday just for this history class. You have to watch so many videos every week. Exams were not reflective. I also think she has fake reviews.
I said goodbye to my 4.0 because of this class! Hard exams and she is a tough grader.
Professor Goodale is pretty chill. The class was pretty easy, just don't fall behind. Textbook was required but lectures covered the main stuff. I used unstuckstudy's AI tools for some extra study prep and that helped a lot.
This class was just so hard. Be ready to spend 3,4 hours a day on just homework.
Professor wanted til the end of the semester to grade anything. Super frustrating to work with. You have no clue what grade you have til the end. You are unable to improve on anything because of the lack of grading. Do not take her class.
She is a good teacher if you actually like World History. I don't really know why, but I feel like she didn't like me. Whenever I messaged her about assignments, she never answered. At the beginning it was fine, but the midterms and final is worth 25% each so be prepared. I studied for 11 hours and I still got a C on both.
Exams were unfair and hard, I do not recommend this class at all.
Very educational class, you could tell that she put a lot of effort into her videos. Reading the textbook was a little tedious sometimes, but if you put the effort in the tests were very easy.
Way too much homework, so time consuming, not worth sacrificing your summer. She assigns WAY too much.
very heavy in work load, way too much homework for this short amount of time.
