This professor is from Iceland, and has a heavy accent. It took a lecture or two before I could understand him really, but you get used to it. Besides the accent (which can be quite amusing at times) he is a very good professor. Reading the chapters in the book is a MUST, and the labs are very easy. Do not sweat his lab reports, they are cake.
Not a bad professor. He grades easily on the lab reports. The worst is the exams which are not that easy since there is so much material. Funny accent, but gives the guy character. I recommend him if you need to take a Bio class.

He is such a boring professor. Don't bother to go to class unless its the day before the test. Just study his powerpoints really well and you will be fine. Lab reports need work, but if you do what he says you'll do well.
His class was okay. His lectures are pretty boring but he's super nice. He gave a study guide for the first test and it was nothing like the actual test. Your best bet is to study the powerpoints he puts online. I couldn't seem to get a good grade on my lab reports but I got a B in the class, so it was alright.
Dont do it. makes an easy class extremely difficult. Plus he's just there for the money, no care for his students whatsoever. Unwilling to really help you, he'll answer questions with "yes" or "no" but that is the most you'll get out of him. If you have to take him (like I did) MEMORIZE the book and the powerpoints and you should get a B or A
DO NOT TAKE HIM! Class is pointless and tests were very difficult because he pulled random facts from different places so you wont know what to study. I had to study a lot. He doesnt teach, he simply reads off the powerpoints in class and doesnt know how to answer questions, he is completely ridiculous. You will regret taking him, I know I did.
This guy literally wrote the book on restoration ecology. I took him over the summer and learned so much. He's very passionate about his subject and you can tell he cares about what he's saying. Labs were a bit unstructured for my tastes, but reports were graded leniently--overall he gets an A+.
Pretty much one of the worst professors ive ever had. puts no effort forth in his class. this easy class is unnecessarily difficult because there is no direction, no study guides and no help. You never have a clue whats going to be on the test. Class is pointless to attend. His discussion is random and rarely on topic
Truly one of the worst professors I have ever had. He does not care about the students at all, does not reply to emails, and does not give helpful answers to questions asked in person. He is rude and confusing. The only good thing about this class is that the tests were easy and multiple choice. Memorize the chapters and you will get an A.
Not bad, not great. He tends to ramble and get off topic a lot, and he reads directly off of the powerpoint. He also skips over a lot of small key details that appear on the tests. He would probably be an amazing Ecology professor, but as a bio teacher he's definitely not the strongest. Be ready to to read the textbook and study a lot on your own.

I do not recommend taking his class. While the topics are interesting and Professor Greipsson seems knowledgeable, he is not clear or approachable. I did not mind his accent, but he tends to not be responsive to emails or clear about instructions. The syllabus is the most important resource for test reminders, and reading the text is essential.
Please heed my word of advice if you want to pass SCI 1101 DO NOT TAKE Prof Sigurdur Greipsson! If you plan on failing then go ahead he'll help you do that without any problem. My worst Professor so far, not personable, do not help his students, VERY RUDE and hates doing anything for his class besides delivering the lecture. Take at your own peril!
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO FAIL, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is an awful professor. He is RUDE, VERY hard to understand with his muffled voice and strong accent, does not explain content well. He makes us do labs but does not ever go over them or explain them or anything of that nature yet they magically appear on our tests. Bad SCI 1101 teacher, VERY bad.
I had this as a Saturday class and he manged to keep my attention the entire time. He's knowledgeable and funny. But you have to go to class because he puts questions from his lectures in the test but If you go to class and read the textbook it's an easy A
Attedance is not really mandatory but he does i clicker questions and if you skip you miss them they're worth a whole test grade. He BORED me to death not to mention it was an 8 am class. Test are semi-hard. You have to put a lot of your time into his class read the BOOK.
Very sarcastic attitude with a monotone voice. Uses iclicker for daily questions worth a test grade. Tests are half multiple choice and half true and false. For the most part the exams are okay if you study the book and memorize his powerpoints verbatim. Would not recommend.
Avoid if possible. I breezed through Bio I but this course was very challenging for no reason. The tests were tricky so really know and understand the material. He is extremely rude. I missed an exam, with a medical excuse, and he would only let me do a makeup during a time I had another class presentation. Avoid if possible
Not the worst professor out there, but nowhere near the best. He has a slight accent and is pretty monotone. Lectures are boring and useless; he basically reads off the powerpoints. Attendance isn't necessary, but there is an iClicker question every class, which all adds up to a test grade. Memorize the powerpoints and you should be fine.
He is good overall. Test are basically from the powerpoints and are straight forward. Final is a little tricky. If you do the powerpoints and skim through the book it should be fine.
Made the class much more difficult than it needed to be. Excepts page long answers for a simple question. Prefers quantity over quality. Entire grade is based off of four exams. So basically one bad grade can ruin your overall grade. Tests are not difficult if you have powerpoint and book basically memorized. Would not take again.
Four tests with a couple of quizzes. all of his questions are modified from a test bank online and from is powerpoints. Half of the questions were TF on tests and completely TF for quizes. never showed up for office hours and his lectures put you to sleep faster than nyquil. Could easily have skipped class and passed. don't read the book.
All of the quizzes and tests are based solely on the PowerPoints AND on the lectures. He specifically told me that he puts facts that he said verbally during lecture on the quizzestests to encourage students to attend, so make sure to take notes. If you show him your interest in doing well he is sympathetic. He is not rude as others have said.
TBH his lectures are boring as he only go over his power points, but if you study his power points, you will pass the class with an A. The PP are very helpful and test comes straight from power points. He is a very nice guy.
Great teacher, very nice. No homework or quizzes and the only grades are the 4 tests. Doesn't leave a lot of room for mistakes. Classes are pretty straightforward, if you go to class and read PowerPoint you will do fine!

The reason he's rated so low isn't because he's difficult, but because he's SO boring! He made a 75 min. lecture feel like an eternity and a few hours. However, all tests are straight from PowerPoint, which he posts on D2L. Tests are very straightforward, and he is a very nice guy. The only grades are 4 test though, so study the PowerPoints daily!
DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! His tests are straight from the powerpoints (which are posted on d2l), and are for the most part, not hard. Much easier than bio 1, although the only grades the whole semester are 4 tests (no quizzes or extra credit). If you study the powerpoints daily, you'll get a B for sure.
Only grades are 4 tests, which are straight from powerpoints(posted on d2l). Tests are 50 questions: 25 MC, 25 T/F. If you study the powerpoints (don't need book), you'll make a B easily. What separates a B from an A are the T/F questions on the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory, so since powerpoints are all online, you only need to go on test days
I personally enjoyed the lectures given. He does just go over powerpoints, so that will be the main thing you need to study for tests. Attendance isn't mandatory. But I wouldn't recommend missing class just because you can. He is very slow to respond to email and not too helpful. Other than that he does a decent job teaching the material.
Uhhhhh where do I begin, hard to understand, did not offer much help during office hours, gives 4 tests and no other assignments. Maybe its because ecology is not my thing, but I found almost all of his lectures extremely boring and I found the class hard due to the fact that the ONLY grades are for the 4 tests. No HW, no lecture quiz.

Tests were not bad at all, but a majority of people got a B in the class because the 4 tests were the ONLY grades the entire semester. Tests were 1/2 mc (easy) and 1/2 T/F (tricky). You WILL make a B, an A is maybe. Only uses ppts. No book!
Pretty decent guy, but not the greatest professor. I took his summer Sci 1101 class and it was incredibly boring. Plus, his accent is pretty tough to understand. Just study the PPT notes and you should be good. Oh, and he is very disorganized! He lost my term paper but was kind enough to let me turn it in let and grade it again.

The 4 tests are not hard, but they are the only grades, so do not screw up in terms of your study habits. All questions came straight from powerpoints (which are all on D2L). Attendance not required, and lectures are super boring. My recommendation: study the powerpoints like there's no tomorrow, and only go on test days. Easy B, kinda tricky A. :)

I took him over a summer semester for environmental science and the class was honestly a joke - the tests were incredibly easy (50 multiple choice questions) that come straight from his powerpoint. He's a boring lecturer & not great about emails, but going to class isn't necessary. Reading the textbook doesn't hurt.
Dr. Greipsson is very knowledgeable in biology and if you go to his lectures you will interesting tid bits about life processes. Study the slides and do the study guides and shouldn't have a problem passing. He does pass around an attendance sheet for some kind of experiment he runs (unknowingly) and you don't get your tests back.
Most boring lecturer ever so thankfully attendance doesn't count. The class isn't hard but your grade is based off of 4 exams. One mistake and you're easily dropped to a B. Each exam is MC, T/F, and then 1-2 "essay" questions. Sometimes he throws the most random tidbits on exams which contribute to lower exam scores. Not very helpful either.
Best professor ever. just do the lab report in the right format and you'll get a 95 or 80
Took him for Ecology lab during spring semester, and I must say, easiest A I've ever gotten. It's not that he is giving out grades. First day he'll tell you that everything we do in this lab isn't trying to discover new science and is just for us to observe what's been discovered, and so we don't have to worry about the "scientific paper method".
Pretty tricky to make an A with in lecture because your whole grade is based on just 4 tests, but VERY easy to make a B with. No need for textbook, his powerpoint slides have everything you need. He posts those on D2L, and attendance is optional, so you only have to go on test days. In lab, he is a VERY easy grader. Easiest lab A ever.
4 tests that your entire grade depends on. Not as hard as people on here make them out to be, but you need to start memorizing the power-points at least 2 days before test. There are 25 multiple choice and 25 true/false. No need to go to class though.
PowerPoints are made by same people as textbook so book isn't necessary. Everything on tests come from PP's & video(s) in class. He likes stat references for essay questions (they're easy) and all exams are multiple choice. It is easy to make an A in this class if you just review PP slides.
Dr. Greipsson's classes are always easy to excel, even though he tries to make it seem tough and boring. If you read his powerpoints you can make easy B and if you read the book along with the powerpoints its easy A. Try to go during his office hours if you don't understand something and he will help you in every way.
I had Dr. Greipsson for ecology lab. He tells you how he wants the report styled and he talks about what to write about for each lab. He's a pretty easy grader and we often get out of lab early. Compared to other ecology lab teachers he's the best. As long as you show up and listen to what he says he's looking for you'll get an easy A.
Don't bother buying the book, everything you need for exams are on his powerpoints that he posts online. He's boring in lecture but easy in lab. He's often late to class & once he didn't even showed up. Half the class doesn't show up except for tests day. Also his in-class writing assignments are easy to make 100s on since he's an easy grader.
Easy class. 4- 50 MC/TF questions test and 4 HW/CW assignments. don't bother buying textbook. post all the powerpoints on D2L and reads straight from them that's why I don't bother going to lecture. Have a solid A.
Very few people actually show up to class but he explains things in class quite well and straight from his powerpoints. No need to buy the book, powerpoints are plenty to study from. 4 tests MC/TF, 4 HWs are easy short essays, final is not cumulative. He's really nice and doesn't make the class harder than it needs to be. Would recommend.
He teaches straight from powerpoints, so a few days before the test have those pp's MEMORIZED and you will do fine. Don't use the study guide, just memorize. Only grades are 4 tests and a paper. He def did not read the paper, only cared about structure (title page, headers, page number etc.) I went to class maybe 1/3 of the time and I have an A.
Was never ever clear about what to do in lab or what he wanted in reports. Writing them was hard bc he never posted the extra data needed to do them. Luckily, he never actually read them; only cared that you had the structure of the report right. If you got the structure, you got a 100. Not a good prof, but definitely not a terrible choice.
It would be impossible to fail this class. He gives 4 tests and 1 term paper for the whole course. Tests are straight from the powerpoints and zoom lectures that he uploads. The tests are a downloaded word document. The term paper is easy, just follow his instructions and you will most likely get an A. Definitely recommend him for online an course.
He's very straightforward. This was a completely online class that was asynchronous, but his tests are straight from the power points, and he makes this class very easy. There's 4 tests and a term paper. He's super laid back. It's really hard to make anything other than an A, just follow the instructions.
Very easy teacher and class in which the grade is built up from 4 exams and 1 term paper. The term paper is extremely easy as he pretty much only looks at the formatting and not the content. The exams are just a mirror of the PowerPoints so as long as you study them beforehand, the exams are a breeze. Pretty easy class overall, got an A.
if you can, please take another professor. i wish i dropped this class when i could. the tests aren't difficult, they're mirror of the powerpoints, but the way he teaches is horrible. He just reads off the powerpoints, and your grade is made up of 4 tests. attendance is not mandatory but he randomly gives in class work which is 20% of your grade.

He never went by the syllabus and altered it many times throughout the course. 4 exams, and one of them is over 8 chapters. Each chapter powerpoint is near 100 slides long. His syllabus says we had homework, but it never worked, nor did he ever provide. His study guides are not helpful. During office hours, he is rude and moody. Take anyone else!!
Rude and disgusting as a teacher. Gave up on classwork 2 assignments in and hasn't done any since. He's extremely volatile from person to person. Take literally anyone else, he is a horrendous professor.
He isn't very nice, super thick accent, BUT its an easy A so I would take him again. Switched up the syllabus a ton (changed final exam date 2 1/2 weeks before final exam?!). Don't bother getting the "required" book and attendance really isn't necessary. Not at all communicative and will high key bully you if you email him.

He is hands down one of the worst professors I have ever taken, I got sick one week throughout the semester and I emailed him to make it up and not only did he respond after an entire week but when I went to take the test he made it seem like such a significant inconvenience to him that I was there in his office hours. Syllabus made no sense, never updated. All that counted was 4 exams, and 2 apparently optional HWs. Book not used. Worthless lectures. Made it seem like attendance required (wasn't). All exams straight from hundreds of powerpoint slides. Did scantrons instead of online, lost some exams. No notes, but curved every exam. Not the worst, but not good.
Do NOT buy textbook & hw access. Not used at all! Bought it for no reason. Hw is really activities done in class, such as movie summaries. Four exams that come from PowerPoints & extra things he says during lecture. PowerPoints are mostly terms. Final (4th exam) is only over last few chapters. No quizzes. Attendance not graded, but he does take.
Only four exams and a term paper. Everything on the exams is directly from the powerpoints, no lockdown browser either. There is a 1-hour time period where the exams opens, but if you email your answers to him a few minutes later, he'll most likely accept it, he's really understanding. Don't work too hard on the term paper. Def take him!

The class consisted of 4-5 In-Class Assignments, 2 Papers based on a Documentary, and 4 Exams including the Final. No quizzes. Exams are based on material covered in class through his PPT. I would recommend going to class because he does do some work on the whiteboard at times that might not be on the PPT. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
I took him for 3370 and was amazing. Considering I've been in college for 7 years total, he's one of the EASIEST professors I've had. Your final grade is exam heavy, BUT his exams are EASY. His exams follow the PowerPoints. We also do 2 papers and in-class activities. He can be vague at times, but just ask him your questions and its fine.

I took this online over the Summer. Straightforward class. 4 tests, the 4th is a noncumulative final. 2 papers about 2 documentaries we watched. 4 "classwork assignments" which the textbook directly shows how to complete. Print his lectures + read the textbook, and you'll do just fine. Summer class is fast, but an A is very achievable.
Nothing was graded but four tests, 4 quizzes, and one paper. The tests were difficult due to them having questions never discussed in class. The dude just goes through PowerPoint slides, so prepare to learn on your own. For some reason, he still uses scantrons, which I never understood. The only redeeming factor is the curves on tests.
This is one of the most boring professors I have ever had. Just reads off powerpoints monotoned. Passes around an attendance sheet to get credit for class assignments but attendance isn't required. The only saving grace is how easy the exams are.
Overall his class was easy and so were his tests. Everything on the tests was on the PowerPoint that he uploaded. There are 4 tests, 2 homework papers, and a few classroom activities. However, he does not respond to emails in a timely manner. He hates being asked questions about anything. He has lied to my class about fixing our grades.
He gets mad when you question him about grading at all, he has really obscure questions on the test, and makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. I made the right decision to drop bcs honestly, there are definitely other teachers here that teach this subject better and are easier.
the class itself was easy and it was easy to pass, but overall he is not a quality person. very sassy and gets attitudes when you ask the simplest questions but if you want an A or B take him he is very easy and doesn't require much.
Ok, I'm gonna be real with everyone. While Professor Greipsson is not the most engaging and 5.0 professor that people seek, his class is easy. The class is memorization heavy based and like other comments, the PowerPoints are pretty much the tests. Sometime his accent is hard to decipher, but if you like studying alone, then he is your pick!
Grumpy old man. Please save yourself. The study guide is little to no help. Very heavy in memorization and basically have to teach yourself. He once went over 3 PowerPoints in one lecture and all being more that 60 slides. Only grades are test, quizzes, and like 2 hw assignments. He also just reads word for word off the PowerPoints.

4 quizzes and 4 exams. If you study it should be easy but his lectures and powerpoints are kinda useless. Attendance isn't mandatory but one day he randomly made attendance mandatory which was a jerkmove but I mean, just find videos online and you should be good.

The course is graded on 4 tests, 4 quizzes and a paper. One test was graded on over 500 slides. The test are multiple choice and sometimes include questions based on very niche information. Some questions are meant to trip you up. You will study hundreds of slides just to be asked one true or false question that you could easily get wrong.
Complete honest opinion, his class wasn't that bad. I had him for the 8am lecture, went about a total of 10 times the whole semester and still got an A. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there were a couple times he did take attendance unexpectedly. The class is heavily memorization based, and if you're good at that then this is the class for you.
Another example of a professor who has no clue how to use D2L, this professor is incapable of scheduling quizzes on the quiz tab and only posts a notification that there is a quiz a day before it, so make sure you are on your toes when it comes to that, also the schedule WILL change from the syllabus so don't bank on that. But other than that easy
You only get a few grades in this class. The lectures are very boring, I think he just teaches to do his research. I would get a better professor.
He is very hard to reach outside of class and has trouble replying back to emails. About half of the information you "learn" from the lectures/slides is on the exam. The rest is random bits of information I assume are from the textbook. Overall not a good experience. He is the most difficult professor I have had to work with here at KSU.
oh lord. nothing was organized, did not explain assignments, never gave rubrics, didnt give clear instructions. i dont know what my final grade was because there are so many assignments that we never did that say 0 and i wasnt given a final grade. DO NOT TAKE
The absolute worst teacher I have ever taken in my entire educational career. All his lectures are muttered, has a heavy accent, and won't elaborate anything. Won't tell you about any homework assignments that are due, when he will take attendance, nor give you the time of day outside of class. Sad excuse of a professor. Should be fired immediately
Worse human being and worse professor ever! Will ruin GPA. Prof is not flexible or understanding when challenges arise, and his teaching style is heavily reliant on slides with minimal engagement or additional support. He's cleary on tenture. RUN!!!!
Professor will make understanding Biology II more challanging than it needs to be. No real worksheets, everything is projected onto the screen including test and quizzes. Also, never receive clear feedback.
RUN WHILE YOU CAN!! Do not take this proffesor- especially if you are a biology major!!! By far one of the worst proffesors I've dealt with. Goes through the slideshows very breifly and expects you to do the rest by yourself. All quizzes and exams are projected, and often go over very little inofrmation done in class. Expect to know nothing by the end of the lab, prof doesn't explain anything. But will give you 100s for completion. Great for easy grading, bad for learning.
Don't take Dr. Greipsson if you want to get a good grade. 90% of the questions on the test appear to be pulled from random sections in the book that were never discussed in class. Also, his quizzes and tests are almost completely true and false questions. Homework is assigned in Achieve but has nothing to do with the lecture material. Do not take!!

WORST PROFFESOROUT THEre! Has multiple exams in one week, is very unreceptive to feedback, will side eye you if you approach him for questions. Has a very short temper, exam questions are very unorganized and are pulled randomly from the textbook, please save your grade and mental health and take anyone else but him.
He's a good professor for the most part but, his test/exams are very frustrating. He goes over slides in lectures that aren't even going to be on the test. If you do take this class and want to pass, please just take your notes from the textbook or the homework.

No grade drops, extra credit, grade replacements. Overall hard to stay engaged
The worst choice I've ever made was taking this class. He's impossible to reach outside of class and doesn't care if you have a decent grade or not. Tests are nonsense, and missing just one in-class assignment can and will effectively prevent you from getting an A in the class, which was my case. If you enjoy science like I do, PLZ TAKE ANYONE ELSE

A sad professor with a sad approach to biology. A waste of my time, and his time too because anytime I asked him questions all he did was roll his eyes at me and acted like he had better things to do than teach (he would end up going on his phone).
His PowerPoint didn't include all of the information from each chapter, and most of the test questions were information you had to read in the textbook. No office hours are provided. On his syllabus, it states his office hours were only by appointment, however, he takes days or weeks to respond to emails, sometimes never responding to emails at all
Cute old man. Class is chill but the exams are HARD. I read textbook and reviewed powerpoints yet still struggled. Its a memorization game. Luckily quizzes are easy and the questions are actually over material covered. The exam questions are pulled out of thin air and contain words never mentioned in the unit. No practice exams or extra credit.
this is by far the worst professor I have ever taken. syllabus clearly states that homework is due on SPECIFIC days, homework is actually due random days of the week and is unrelated to lectures. quizzes/exams are projected on TV, essentially no feedback given when receiving 0s or 30s, will read your email and not respond. do not not take him.
Didn't communicate well with students, the start of the class was very frustrating. The saving grace was how easy the material and the assignments (including tests) were. Not a great professor but definitely not the end of the world if you take him. Non-comprehensive final too. His lectures were unnecessary and boring, just read the notes
He's ok, I took him over the summer for a reason, he is very bad at communication though
