Great teacher, wants you to learn, goes real slow and does a ton of examples. Has notes in Power Point so its no biggie if you miss a couple classes, no attendance policy. Announces all tests and quizzes which are easy. Definetly recommend her!!!
I took the class in high school but if I hadn't I could definitely see how it would be hard to understand the concepts. She has a Russian accent and is not very good at explaining things. She has almost no sense of humor. Her quizzes are pretty easy but the tests can be kind of tricky.
a good teacher. accent is sort of hard to understand. she gives u lots of examples and has all of her lessons on webct. no attendance policy
great teacher! silvana chambers is the shizzz, you should definitly take her for your economics classes. no attendance, powerpoint lectures (which are on webct), combined with easy tests and quizes make her a winner!
like 4th grade all over again, could pretty much take the class from a computer if you download the lecture (everything's powerpoint), not the most effective teaching method but it's easy if you pay attention and occasionally go to class
She is a very considerate teacher, deffinately helps you out if you are on the boarderline. No attendance policy, which may or maynot be great. She has a thick accent, but if you pay attention, you'll understand. Gives oppurtunites to better grades-quizzes, exams...she's great!
no attendence policy, she reads off the power point which she posts online, so you dont have to go to class. you dont have to read or do any outside work pretty much.
TAKE HER! No attendence policy, hw done online (hard, but ask for help) test are straight up. She gives a review sheet that basically is the test. Gives extra credit if class ask for it.
She is very mean and not very interested in students. She doesnt care what you do in the class as long as you dont disrupt her. Material is all on line so no real need to go to class. She needs to take more interest in her students.
She is a VERY nice teacher (always smiling)...her door is always open for her students. If you are struggling in a certain section, she'll stick with you until you get it. Aplia's (online homework) hard but she basically does it for you during class. The tests are short, but make sure you actually LEARN the stuff and not just memorize it. Goodluck!
Professor is not always nice and doesn't seem very open to extra help for students who are stuggleing. Class is some what easy, attendance is not mandatory and aboyt 80% of class is online. She is kinda mean. im surprised i acually passed.
Take this class. Anyone that has any complaints about this course needs to look in the mirror and work harder. Great professor and MORE than fair. Not only does she go over the homework in class...she spends a class reviewing material before the exam AND she offers extra credit...and doesn't require attend. Some students just need to work harder
Not a hard class, not an easy class. The test can be a little tricky, a lot of the class got A's or B's -- but, you do have to work for it. Study is involved. Would I recommend her? Kinda of, if you can't get Dustin Chambers, take her. She's very nice, I just wish she didn't make the material seem more bland than it actually was.
Nice lady, but the final is tricky and she wont give any consideration for borderline. Should take Dustin Chambers instead
Very nice. Attendance is not mandatory. Textbook and homework online. Powerpoints and study guides online. Read the chapter, look at the powerpoint, do the homework. Two midterms and a final. Not hard if you do the study guides. She's ALWAYS willing to help. Easy class.
Great prof! She's great at explaining material. Very helpful outside of class. Exams aren't hard if you study. Midterms and final usually have previous questions on them. Attendance isn't mandatory but she usually spends time in class to go over the answers for hw that's online so you don't want to miss the answers. Really made me enjoy ECON!
Good teacher, she is always willing to help and will go out of her way to help clarify an issue.
She's very nice, but sometimes she gets confused when a student has a question. She has some useless group discussions throughout the class, but her computer lab sessions are very useful in illustrating concepts. The class isn't too hard as long as you do your homework online every week and reference the book while doing it.
Some times she is hard to understand and can be a little mean at times. But overall not bad, as long as you come to class and make an attempt then your good. This is not an easy A though
She is awesome! I have never seen a teacher give students more opportunities to do well with extra credit, office hours when ever she is free and always tryiong to find ways for students to make sense of what shes talking about! Great Teacher, she is actually the reason Im majoring in Econ
Mrs. Chambers class is fairly easy. Some concepts are hard to comprehend, but she gives extra credit and classwork is easy. A good grade is highly do-able.
She is a great teacher who is always willing tot help you. She goes over the internet homework in class, so you always get a 100% in HW. I would definitely recommend her.
Not a very good teacher. Rambles on about nothing, teaches off of horrible powerpoints and you don't even get a paper textbook for $80 (Aplia online course)
great teacher goes over all material clearly. tests are multiple choice and gives extra credit, and goes over all homework in class. definately recommend
Easy Class. Just do your aplia homework and online discussion questions and your bound to get a good grade in the class.
Easy Class. Just do your aplia homework and online discussion questions and your bound to get a good grade in the class.
Seems like she knows her material in the beginning but after about a week you realize it is pointless to come to class unless you know that she is taking attendance that day. Easy enough to do on your own because it is hard to pay attention during lectures.
At beginning of the semester it seems like she knows what she is talking about but after about a week it becomes apparent that unless she is taking attendance that day you should not go to class. She rambles and makes easy concepts confusing. Online class recommended because it is pointless to go to the actual lectures.
This teacher is horrible. Does not answer questions and is not helpful at all. All her powerpoints are online so you are better off teaching yourself because she will just confuse you. I strongly recommend not taking this professor!
She knows A LOT about the subject, but cannot teach effectively. Ask questions and she is more than willing to help, but your questions have to be clear. Not a class to slack in
DO NOT TAKE HER! she will tell you over and over again that you are wrong and then explains it to you and you end up being right. She does not know how to teach or relate to her students. Def not an easy A. Her test's arnt that easy either...but she does give extra credit. Also lies about dropping your lowest grade...she wont.
Average teacher. Not too hard or easy. She will not accept any late work.
Do not take her! She does not make sense in her lectures, and the class is EXTREMELY boring.
If you do your readings (which are pretty easy) she goes over the same things in class and drills it into your mind. The homework she goes through with you in class. Th assignment are not hard, so if you do your work than you're fine. I got a 96% on my first major exam. She is also very nice and always asks if we all understand or we need help.
She is very nice and willing to help anyone. However, she is hard to understand at times because of her accent, you just have to really listen. Lectures are boring, but you get online hmwk done with her help, so I would go! Her tests are exactly what she says they are, just make sure you study! Overall and average teacher :)
She is very nice and helpful. Really takes out time to help anyone out. There is online homework which is easy if you do the reading but she helps with that too. Exams are tricky though so you may need to be careful in that. But she is a nice teacher and it wouldnt hurt to give her a try.
Super helpful teacher. She really will do anything to help her students succeed. All the homework is online and you just have 2-3 exams in class which are very easy if you just study. She gives out super helpful study guides.
Very nice and willing to help/accommodate you. She's very knowledgable and is good at explaining. Assignments are easy but it is important to look at the syllabus everyday. I suggest actually reading the book because it makes the class easier and isn't boring.
I only took this class cuz it was required for Int'l Studies major. Showing up in class was almost 100% pointless cuz she just went over a powerpoint. Reading the OVERPRICED online textbook was the only time i ever learned anything about economics. If you're good at Econ, you probably wouldn't mind this class though cuz the online work is easy.
She...tries. That's all that can be said. There isn't an attendance policy. Her lectures are nothing different from the PowerPoints she posts online. Keep up with the online work and show up for the midterm/final and you'll do fine.
In an introductory course, she is amazing. She makes everything easy to understand and uses a lot of real-world examples. She provides very detailed study guides to help on the exams plus easy online work. Also, she is willing to help if needed. You will have to pay attention in class but overall, it is easy.
A hard class for me, especially since I wasn't an Econ major or interested in Business but I also didn't study as much as i could have. Studying is kind of a major thing in this class but going to the lectures helps. She isn't always every clear but she is willing to help and read the Aplia book. It reallllly helps especially their tips.
The class was okay, a lot of people never even showed up. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have assignments due at the end of each week and if you go to class, you do it together. Its a very large class and she tries her best. I would suggest her
This class was not hard but not easy. Tests are difficult. Chambers is nice and will help you if you ask for it. Attendence not mandatory, but if you go to class she does your weekly homework assignments with you.
She is a sweet lady. She has an accent if that is troublesome for anyone. I would of had an A if it weren't for the final that brought me down to a C. Prepare well for tests and go to her class to do the aplia as a class!
The class is just too long for me. And ECON is hard, but if I had to take it again Prof. Chambers would be my choice. Very sweet, does the homework's with you in class.
If you need to use the restroom be sure you don't need to during this class because she will take credit away for leaving. Don't leave class where attendance isn't mandatory because God forbid you have an emergency. Would not recommend.
She's really nice. She just talks a lot and her lectures seem long. She always goes over the work that's due in class and 9/10 she does it with the class. She lets my class use cheat sheets for tests, but I heard she doesn't do it with all of her classes. There are a lot of online discussions she gives but honestly, just copy someone else's.
Econ211 with Chambers was great. She really explains the material well and will do some of the homework with you in class. You only have two test and a final as exams. The final is EXTREMELY hard even though you can use a cheat sheet on it. The two tests are easy IF you study a lot and look at the practice tests she gives you.
Professor Chambers is one of the best professors I've ever had! Econ 212 is an extremely hard course but she is always willing to help and wants her students to succeed more than anything! Without a doubt I would take her again!
Take the mixed in class, online class where you have one class a week. Aplia, the online hw, is super hard but try to do well on it since every point counts. She explains things well and posts test question examples so practice them because a lot of them show up on the tests. Attendance is not mandatory but if you dont go you will get lost.
She literally tries her best to make sure everyone passes her class. If you do not pass, it's honestly your fault because she provides a lot of help in class and outside of class. HW is done in class and exams are identical to study guides.
Professor Chambers is an excellent choice for ECON 212. She helps so much with the Aplia hw in class everyday. 3 Tests, which is the majority of your grade. Do well on the first 2, because the comprehensive final is a killer at the end.
If you show up to class and take basic notes you will definitely pass. She teaches a lot of real world stuff, but she is very strict about odd things. You can't leave to go to the bathroom, no phones, and she is pretty strict about lateness. There were usually two homework a week, an aplia assignment and discussion. These were mostly done in class.
she makes her class material seem easy and then you take the exam and its nothing like she has taught. her discussions are not beneficial but she does the aplia in class with you for homework.
I would not recommend her. She has a lot of online homework assignments and weekly open discussions. The grading on those is super weird and she makes it hard to do well on. The material she teaches in class (VERY unorganized lectures) seems easy and simple. HOWEVER, the tests are NOTHING like what she teaches and are a huge part of the grade.
She was very lecture heavy and didn't usually answer questions clearly, which made it difficult to have confusing topics covered. 70% of the final grade was based on tests, which made it really hard to boost your grade if you did poorly on one of them.
She always replied to emails and gave good critiques of papers. She is a great teacher.
Her class is hard, not going to lie, but if you do the work and pay attention, you should be fine. Whatever I did not understand i talked to her about it and she helped me out big time! She's awesome.
She is probably the best choice out of the econ 211 professors at Salisbury, make sure you do the online work, the homework and quizzes because they can really drag your grade down. You will have three exams, make sure you study hard for them and form study groups! She doesn't do extra credit, but she will help you out with your grade if you try.
Weekly homework, discussion and quizzes (it sounds like a lot but it's short and easy). She's very organized and teachers very well. 10/10 recommend
She is a nice lady and always smiling but in her words "you either get A or F in my class, even split" so yeah. She does not help outside of class and encourages you to drop the class rather than help you. she tells you to go to SI but he doesn't help at all. Her Powerpoints don't match the ones she gives you to use for notes. Shes always happy tho
Professor Chambers was a really great teacher. From day one she was very specific about her grading criteria, lectures, and makes sure to organize everything very well. This is not a class you can just sleep through, studying and hard work is required but you learn a lot in the process.
Dr. Chambers is really not that good of a professor. She regularly disregarded student questions and had us use course material that really wasn't needed. Thank goodness most of the class was online because going to class would have been a hassle. Also, the need to use Sapling? Yuck.
Very nice and clear simple class outline. Do the study guides and you will be fine!
One of the best professors Ive had. Always smiling and never in a bad mood. Over 2 semesters Ive only seen her mad once. Lots of quizzes but she provides study guides too so that balances out. 3 exams all semester but if you do good on everything else you can do average on exams and still pass
I took this class fully online, and while I understand she has a million students, my experience was one of neglect. She wouldnt answer my emails for days, and she would put the zoom-ed in students on mute for the whole lecture so we couldnt ask questions. She assigns lots of homework, but the class is also laughably easy
Little tough but overall great teacher
the homework assignments were extremely overwhelming. She was overall a nice person but made the course way harder than it needed to be. For each exam we were allowed to have a full piece of paper as a cheat sheet and despite writing everything that we reviewed they were still hard to pass.
Dr. Chambers is a very nice lady but she almost never answers emails, her tests have a tendency to focus on topics we don't discuss much in class, the homework has odd due dates, and the homework is unnecessarily annoying in structure. Very kind lady but would not take again
Mrs Chambers is great! Shes very sweet and is a fair grader. She really cares about her students and is super positive. Exams easy are if you do your study guides, so do them! I did not get an A or B, however, I'm sure if I had done the homework's on time, I would have done better. So do your homework prior to the due date so you're not rushing.
I took the class as a hybrid class, and found that the work load was more than most of my fully in-person classes. she does not really teach and you will get a better grade if you teach yourself. if that is fine with you, then take her but if you want her to fully teach you then do not take her class.
Dr. Chambers is very quiet but all lectures come with a study guide so it's easy to follow. Every week there is homework, a quiz, and a discussion but they're really easy. You can use your notes on tests. Overall, she's an okay professor and her class is really easy.
Gives you a study guide for each lecture in which gives clear idea on what each chapter is about. She goes in-depth on the test reviews and you can ask any question and she is willing to give you a clear and understandable answer. I personally believe she cares about her students and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure students understand.
Dr. Chambers is a great person and truly wants her students to succeed, but her class is a bore. She's hard to understand and her assignments can be confusing. The concepts are a bit challenging and she's not great at conveying them. Overall, the class is easy and she lets you use study guides on the test, but she's not someone I'd take again.
I took this class over winter term. It probably had the most work out of all I've taken, tho it was more busy work than hard. We had 3 exams that were easy, and some discussions that were free 100%. The Hw takes some time but really boosts your grade. I noticed a lot of errors in various discussions, but she responds fast. Overall very accessible.
Dr. Chambers is a professor that I would choose over the other economics professor; she doesn't always explain the topic being covered in the right way, but you can always get the information needed through the slides posted weekly. To get a better grade in the class than a C, you are expected to read and spend at least 2 hours on homework a night.
Class was very easy content wise. Exams were simple and she let us use any notes we had taken using the in class note sheet. Homework was weekly and includes mini tests and content questions. Lectures tend to get a little repetitive with the first 20 mins usually dedicated to reviewing last class. Posted the PowerPoints so attendance isn't needed.
Dr. Chambers is one of the best professors at Perdue Hall. Attendance isn't manditory and homework isn't hard. She allows a cheat-sheet on exams and allows AI for homework!!! Highly Recommend if you want an easy to follow professor.
Prof. Chambers was an okay teacher. At the beginning of the semester, she had everything on myClasses, including study guides, which we fill out each lecture. We had 3 midterm exams which were all online AND on lockdown browser. The content discussed in class the day before the quiz did not always align with the questions on the exams.
She means well, however her lectures are confusing and rely on student engagement. She expects students to constantly be looking up statistics on ChatGBT or Gemini, and it gets old fast. She is not tech savvy so her notes to fill out are formatted awfully. Class is do-able, but if your looking to enjoy the topic I don't recommend her.
Professor Chambers was very kind and appreciative of circumstances. Sometimes I had difficulty understanding her accent but my biggest complaint is the final project which she just added this semester as well as the homework load on the weekends. Sometimes I would have 13 assignments due with a discussion, multiple mini quizzes & achieve homework
Professor Chambers knows the material that she is talking about, but does not do well at translating it into something that students can understand. The lectures got very boring very quickly, and it felt like a task just to sit in class. The exams were pretty difficult, and there were quite a few assignments due every week.
Mrs. Chambers is communicative and gives time for questions after class as needed. However, lectures can be boring and sometimes hard to follow. Weekly assignments include 6-10 mini quizzes (2-3q each) and 1 main quiz (9-16q) along with 2 short essays and 3 midterm exams (40q) throughout. Midterms weigh 66% but weekly assignments took more time.
