Best english teacher I have ever had, she makes everything seem so easy. She uses a lot of team work for her classes and she grades hard on essays but she gives you a lot of time to do them. I recomend her class since she actually understands her students.

Very AWESOME teacher! you can hand in things late and no points taken..she is very understanding and nice. she will give u ideas for your essay and is willing to help. she does grade essays harder than anything else though..but its all good!

She's a great teacher. There's a lot of homework, and it's not that bad. As long as you do the reading and the homework, you're pretty much guaranteed an "A". The essay questions aren't that bad at all either.

Best English teacher I have had. She is friendly, flexible, and genuinely cares about her students. I missed about half the classes but did 90% of my work and all of my essays and earned an A. She is always available if you need to talk and is young enough to understand most college students. I wish she taught English 1B And 1C. Take her class!

I agree on one thing, she is a pretty hard grader when it comes to essays, but you got to think about its a high level english so she expects a lot from you and how you construct ur essays. Overall, I did like the class and she was pretty helpful and very nice.

4 Essays: two are in-class and two are take-home. No midterm and the last essay is your final. She is really helpful. She has discussion about your draft and gives you directions. With a little bit of effort and extra credit, you will get at least B or A!

This is not the first time I take her. I love Villanueva, she truly involves herself with her students and assists them with anything they may need. The topics in the class will undoubtedly get you thinking and you will be a great analytical thinker once you're done with this class. IDK why she gave me a B though.. Definitely deserved the A.

I had her Fall '11 for Chicano literature block with Prof. Orozco in Socio 31. Both teachers are very interesting and helpful! I had the best class experience with these two teachers for my entire 2 years at PCC. I highly recommend either of them, choosing another teacher will be a waste of your time.

I took Her for Summer Semester Psy 31 Studies in Chicano Behavior. There is no other teacher that could teach it better at PCC than Ms. Villanueva. She's very informative, enthusiastic, and opens your mind. I did all my work/HW/Extra-Credit/Studied Mid-term Earned my A. It's mostly lectures and there very interesting. She's 1 of my Fav, TAKE HER!!

Goes through readings with you and helps you annotate which is helpful for your papers. One of the few teachers that really care about your education.

Awesome professor, 4 essays in total in spring session, provides help to students, extra credit also, theme of class is about Chicano literature, not really hard, btw I am not Hispanic, provides many extra credit opportunities/events to boost grade, not really necessary, easy grading scale.

She is very friendly and an easy grader. The class texts focus on Hispanic literature. 4 Essays, 4.5pgs+ for take home and 6 paragraph minimum for in-class. All notes are done in blue books, 1 per unit. In class sessions consist of small group work and whole class discussion.

Prof. Villanueva is great. Her class is incredibly easy to pass. Naturally if you have ENGL 1C you will be tasked with 3 research papers. They all feed off each other for a huge 25 page novel. You won''t regret taking this cource and the textbooks are very cheap. You better get an A

Miss V is my favorite professor on campus. All of her classes are taught from an ethnic studies perspective so if you're insterested in learning more about things like institutionalized oppression, this is the class for you! When you leave class, you will feel more enlightened than ever. She's so inspiring and she will be there for you! TODO LUZ!

Prof Toscano is a cool person! If you can accept the fact that you in a college level English course, and that your ways of thinking will be tested, you will have fun. Her subject matter can be hard to relate to if you are not of some kind of indigenous decent, namely latino/chicano. But she offers the opportunity to adapt for yourself.

Prof. Toscano's class is NOT skewed towards chicanos/latinos. She's open to helping anybody and is very encouraging. The material can be challenging as colonization and decolonization is not something you're often exposed to. Take the class! You will be challenged, and must work for your grade, but you'll walk out as a stronger writer!

T was a really passionate professor. I noticed all of the English 1c classes have some sort of tilt, i.e. Environment, politics, etc and Toscano's was that of people of color/minority's/history of indigenous people's & their struggles. Its a very insightful class that you get out of what you put in! I loved some of the readings and appreciated her!

The best class I've ever taken. Offers an alternative view on English and education. Emphasizes the alternative as a valid perspective. POC centered syllabus!!! Doesn't want anyone to get anything less than an A. I'd take her class again. She's hilarious and kind but does not mess around.

Her research essay is incridebly challenging. Probably one of the most difficult papers I have ever composed. Lectures can be a bit boring, but she does bring in cool guest speakers. Her assigned books were heavily related to Chicano oral history regarding war. Tough class, but very rewarding!!! I had to work really hard for the A.

Reading assignment goes from 70-130 pgs, which is doable. There is an essay for a midterm and final. You write two 3-4 pages papers on a cultural event. Interesting material. Prof is very loud and energetic. She's always excited

Toscano is my favorite professor!!She really knows her stuff and knows how to facilitate a student-centered learning environment. Take Psychology 31 if you want to gain a greater insight on the factors that influence Chicano/a behavior. This class will give you the tools to deconstruct your own Chicano experience and become more self-actualized.

I didn't feel that she was too tough. Not an easy A, but not unachievable as long as you follow the prompts and dedicate enough time and effort to it.

I took her class a few years ago, and it had a profound impact on me. The writing assignments took quite a bit of effort, research, creativity and soul-searching, but it was so worth it. I am not Chicano, and was able explore the impacts of colonialism and intergenerational trauma in my own ethic history.

Had Professor Toscano for English 001A in Fall ‘24 as a first-year. She's kind, walks through assignments step-by-step, gives time to finish work, and accepts late work for full credit. Very flexible, just communicate with her. One of my fave classes definitely recommend.
