Simon is such a nice guy, and you can really tell that he cares about his students. there are a lot of assignments, and the course content moves along way too fast, but prof. Blanchette makes attending the lectures worthwhile.

During the Covid crisis he was the only one of my teachers who actually seemed to care about updating us. Canceled the final exam to make it easier to finish the course remotely. Also a great lecturer (speaks fast though).

This course is very thought provoking and you will learn a lot if you want to. The course is more of a seminar and is not theory based. Lectures are great! Prof Blanchette completely changed my perspective on Marketing and on management in general. He also cares a lot about his students and is super available. He even gave us his phone number.

Very different kind of Marketing class and I really loved it. Lectures were great and really based on having critical discussions about marketing, ethics, society, and what is going on in the world. Even with Covid the remote lectures were awesome and a welcome distraction.

I also loved that Simon included a lot of references to movies, social media, TV shows, advertising, etc., so that we can really connect to the material and discuss it through things we know and like. Prof. Blanchette is very approachable and friendly. The midterm and final consisted of 3 questions /scenarios with 3 sub questions (9 questions total). Lots of reading to do for each chapter, but it's easy to get an A on the quizzes part if you make an effort. As long as you understand the concept, you're fine bc exams are opened book.

Simon is a great prof and he makes a pretty technical class very interesting and fun to attend. New product is very much a marketing and entrepreneurship course, and it is well worth taking. I like that he focuses the evaluations on research and analysis assignments instead of memorization exams.

Dense course, but it is super interesting and I feel I really gained a lot of practical knowledge, which is rarely the case in most courses. You learn about new product creation and the business of it (including the math aspect). Simon really makes the lectures super interesting and he uses really current examples that we understand and relate to.

The STM is on strike, most of my teachers are acting like nothing is happening and that it is not hard for students, but Prof Blanchette sent us a survey to see what would work best for us, and what kind of accommodations would be helpful. I live far from campus and I am a mom, and this level of caring means so much.

Simon Blanchette is one of the best professors I have ever had at JMSB. He makes lectures fun, interactive, and interesting. He taught about concepts and merged in examples seamlessly. He is also very accessible outside of class and responds to emails very quickly. I would recommend taking him for Comm 227 and Comm 401.
