He's a little hard to understand at first, but ya get used to him. He puts all his notes on the web, so nothings better then that. Not bad llokin either
Great prof. Intelligent, funny, very available. He makes sure everybody understands the material.
Good prof!! Make sure you love hearing about hormones, PMS, and serotonin for this class. You're gonna hear those words a lot with the French Canadian accent....love it!
Great professor and a really nice guy! He knows his material and makes sure everyone else in the class does too. He is very approachable and actually cares about his students!
His class is really fun.
found he wasn't always clear about what he was trying to emphasize. Tried hard but tests weren't fair. Also the lab sections weren't marked equally, your lab in the lab section really depended on your TA but overall he's nice but the course was rough
really sincere guy, takes his job seriously, sensitive, cool with nice accent but hard.
A really nice person and couldn't be more fair. He teaches very well, and there are no surprises on his exams. Those who didn't fair well can blame him all they want, but it is their own doing. He is awesome!
so funny, and fairly intelligent
I feel he is unfair to his students and does not give them the opportunity to meet with him personally ti discuss problems encountered.
Gadbois is funny, open minded and quite focussed; he makes sure we know the material well. Always available for appointments or even for short (or long) chats after class. Good work!
Cool guy, but says sex ALOT!! And is a little touchy about being french canadian, but over all def take his class
Simon is an awesome prof. Best prof of the year award goes to him. My first year experience would not have been as good without him as a prof, with his french Canadian accent. He is caring and really helps when you need help and want to work for it.
Definately made psychology bear-able. ahaha.
He's a super professor! I had him for Psyo2160 (Animal Behavior) a few years back, and that's what made me decide to tackle Hormones & Behavior with him as the professor - he's very straight forward and clear, easy to understand, and very dedicated!
took hormones and behavior. was terrific, funny and kept things interesting. take his classes!

Great prof, always willing to help you out if you make an effort :)
I took Ethology from Simon in the summer of 98. He didn't really seem interested in teaching the class that year, and appeared convinced that we would all cheat on tests given half a chance. I finished the class with a little free-floating guilt and a lot of boredom.
Lots of emails.... =.='
the man has no life
I had Gadbois for Psychology 2000, he is a great guy. His lectures are intresting and tests are quite fair. Take any class that he teaches.
look in the course outline .. . it's all there
extremely reliable and helpful
he's a cutie!

I took a drugs and behavior class with gadbois, the class was awesome, really interesting, he's a fair guy, take the class
Comes across as kind of rude sometimes.
Very helpful guy. Listens to you, and seem to genuinely care. Very fair. Handles the constant whining better than anybody could expect! I am in second year, and I never got that much help and support in any course I took. Wake-up guys! This is university!!!
seems angry..the class was alright though
Goes out of his way to help students. The best communicating prof I've ever had.
Very agreeable, very professional. Dr. Gadbois is clear, concise and fair. He answers all e-mails quickly and addresses each question well. To those of you who feel he is in some way unfair or incompetent, look at yourself in the mirror and ask if university is the right place for you.
Great guy, my friends tell me his animal behavior class and hormones class are awesome. Certainly not incompetent! During the reviews, he gave me the impression he knew more than the section instructors (learning, for example). Always willing to answer questions.
Gadbois was definately the man! His class was so laid back and not rushed which was great!I absolutely loved going to this angry little french mans psych class! He's a fantastic professor!
Simon is a hottie!
Seems like a good guy, but I wouldn't believe everything he says. Simon makes empty promises sometimes. Keep that in mind.
Excellent!!! Witty, funny, very knowledgeable. He does not take himself seriously but this guy knows his stuff. If you try, he'll be there for you, if you don't, you're on your own. Very much a no-nonsense approach to teaching. And don't beg, just work to deserve it and he'll listen.
Awesome guy, so helpful- he was managing at least the first level classes and kept great contact with al the students. He also is available if you need people removed from class for being noisy=pure greatness.
Awesome prof and did I mention I am completly in love with him??? haha
I LOVE HIS CLASS!! He keeps my attention and it's not just because he's a hottie with a french accent!! He's a great prof tho his tests can be pretty hard!!
Great prof, he keeps lectures interesting with talks about his beloved wolves. LOVE HIM
Very engaging lectures, funny anecdotes, makes class interesting. He's just awesome.
good teacher
Excellent Prof, really seems to know his stuff. Generally interresting lectures, though sometimes a little dry. It's fun to listen to a prof with a French accent again, reminds me of home.
he is really entertaining and the material is interesting. it also helps that he's a hottie with a french accent. His exams can be unpredictable tho...not as easy as you would expect!
Hot professor, hot accent. First two tests were super easy, but the exam took me by suprise! Was much, much harder than the last two, and dropped me from a A- to a B. Still though, overall great, funny and hot professor.
best prof ever!
He was very fair on his exams, gave lots of good examples to help you remember, easily approachable.
Every lecture was very interesting!! One of my favorites!
WOW yeah very hot and nice accent too...however at times he does appear to be standoffish...oh well what can you do...his accent is a bit hard at times to understand
Oh my goodness, he is so yummy! Accent, demeanor ... so gorgeous. Also a fantastic teacher; makes the material very interesting. He moves quickly, so you don't get bored. Fantastic.
Good prof, he makes the material really interesting. Exams are pretty hard though.
I had him first year and he set the standard for what i expected from other profs. He makes the material interesting.
Great prof. Although, what's up with the wolves? ;p
Although constantly putting the wrong emPHAsis on the wrong SylLABles, his antics are usually pretty entertaining and he knows his stuff. Good prof.
A great prof who keeps the classes interesting.
Great prof! Totally approachable although VERY shy, especially if you talk to him out of class context. To the comment about his accent: Dr. Gadbois, I hope you don't read this. It is so unfair. I am sure the student thinks he or she is really smart, but it is just disrespectful.
I took p2000 in the summer, and it was Gadbois first time teaching the shorter session. Overall he was an effective prof-- the midterm was a joke and the final was brutal. I would recommend his classes to other students.
This prof made the topics and lectures very interesting... it was the only class all year that I didnt mind going too!
Great prof :)
Dr. Gadbois was a very good prof! At first he seemed a little intimidating, but he really knows his stuff. He did a great job at relating the material to us and gave us a clear understanding and overview of psychology. Difficult, but I loved this class!
AWSOME TEACHER!!!!!!!
He's one of the finest instructors I've taken courses from. He knows his material well and knows what he's doing. He's somewhat intimidating at first, but after you get to know him he can be a great guy.
overall good.
GREAT prof, made the class really interesting. Definitely take a class with him, he's truly committed and interested in what he's teaching, always has stories related to what he's teaching. Really interesting class under him.
Neuropsyc was tough but interesting. He was an interesting prof, but it was hard to listen so early in the morning.Very inconsistent, always said that attendence was important but never bothered to pass around a sheet until the last week of the semester. On another note, very hot and entertaining to watch.
Pros: EXTREMELY helpful, will work for you. Smart as hell in most respects. funny. aggressive, interesting style. Cons:VERY full of himself. Makes things appear more or less true than they actually are - doesnt allow a mid-ground. RIPS up ppl that he thinks is wrong - researchers, friends, former student - could be difficult to approach for shy ppl
Simon is an amazing professor. He has a genuine caring for his students. He is open to questions and really wants to help his students learn. His passion for his research is inspiring and he helps his students have the same passion.

dr. gadbois is awesome!
gadbois is an amazing prof. hes interested in what hes teaching and makes it fun. the textbook is an easy read and the material is great
He's so interesting to listen to, very stimulating, makes his lectures humerus at time and will even act out situations he's trying to describe. My favorite prof at Dalhousie.
UNREAL!
This course is a required course for psychology and isn't always the most interesting, but he uses a lot of examples and tries to make it as interesting as possible. He's a good lecturer and explains things fairly clearly. His tests are fairly easy and straightforward.
I had Dr Gabois for Psyo 2000 and 2160. This class is teaching what he studies and he's very passionate about it. I looked forward to going this class every Monday, Wednesay and Friday. At the end of the class, I was sad that it was over because I enjoyed it so much. The Midterm and the final were really fair. I highly recommend this class!
Very good prof. Exams reflect what was learned in class and are very fair.
I had Gadbois for both 2000 and 2160. He is my favorite prof Ive had so far in my 3 years here at Dalhousie. He makes everything interested and you WANT to go to his class. Highly recommended. Oh, and his accent isn't bad either ;)
I had Dr. Gadbois for NESC 2007/2160, and I can now say that I have found my favorite prof at Dal!!! He is extremely intelligent and interesting to listen to, and his tests are really fair! I have excelled in all of his tests because he makes you really want to learn because he exudes passion for what he does. Dalhousie is lucky!
Absolutely amazing prof! He is extremely helpful and understand. Makes the class interesting. You just wont ever feel like skipping his class. Best prof at dal.
Best prof. at Dal! Absolutely amazing. If I were to take every single class he teaches I def. would! He def. knows what he is talking about, and he makes all the material he teaches fun and exciting.
Do not take 3770 if you expect to learn what you paid for. I was expecting a challenge and I was expecting to learn something. I felt ripped off. Test was word-for-word out of his lecture notes. We learned nothing in depth. We never learned 4 of the chapters we were supposed to cover. Not well organized with his class material and teaching goals.
Pretty boring class, but that's probably the fault of the material. Made the best of some pretty lousy subject matter, and managed to make it reasonably understandable.
Oh my God. Best doctor at Dalhousie. I can't begin to explain how great his classes are. His teaching is excellent, makes the course very entertaining. Genuinely cares about his students, and very very very helpful.
His exams are easy and he is very helpful and understanding. Just memorize the lecture notes and you will get an A plus. Going to class is not extremely necessary except he is so hot, you will end up going to his classes anyway just to be charmed by his sexy voice, allure and wit.
Such an excellent prof, he actually made a class about research methods engaging. He genuinely cares about students and is so helpful. Dal is lucky to have him!
I was really frustrated with Gadbois because he'll tell the class to not memorize, and to study concepts, but don't be fooled! The exams are mostly, if not all, memorization! My mark would've been a lot higher in this class if he hadn't mislead me. But otherwise, he's good at explaining and is a funny professor.
Textbook optional but has exam questions with 'according to text'. Also says we have to be able to apply stuff for the final, but 3/4 of exam was actually just memorization. Other than that, I am completely in love with this man, including teaching style, appearance and accent.
He really likes to try and scare students by telling them how many people fail and how you need to attend class and prepare so much for the exams...it really is just memorizing facts from the lecture slides! I barely ever went to class (I found the lectures SO TEDIOUS)...and I did really well just from reading the slides!!
Best prof at Dal. I'm in my fourth year and I still wish he taught more classes. He's very approachable, really helped me out, not just class-wise, but also in other academic issues. Managed to make the material soo much easier, and he's very entertaining. Probably the only reason why I showed up to class in the first place.
Great lecturer, interesting class material, reasonable exams, helpful outside of class. Not much more you can ask for. Take all his classes (as I did), they are fantastic and you can do well if you show up to lecture and note everything he says that isn't on a slide. Make sure you both memorize and understand.
His lectures are so compelling and packed with information. He knows how to keep a class intrigued for the entire time even with some dull material. His tests aren't too difficult if you take good notes in class and read the textbook. One of the best psych profs at Dal!
boring topic, but he kept lectures as interesting as possible
Dr. Gorgeous, I mean Gadbois, is an outstanding professor and as someone said before, DAL is very fortunate to him! Very knowledgable and has a lot to share involving up to date research. There is always something new to lean from this man. Was a pleasure being in his class!
He is a very interesting and committed professor! I received several highest marks so I think his teaching style is clear and straightforward. If you are also animal lover, you would find a lot of commons with him and you will enjoy his classes!
Dr. Gadbois is an amazing professor! I mean, it does help that he is easy on the eyes too ;)! The material for this class is not the most interesting, but he does what he can in order to make it better! If you like a prof who uses a lot of examples, you'll love him! His tests and exams are very fair and as long as you study, you'll do great! :)
Gadbois is the sexiest professor at Dal. The way he carries himself and that stunning accent all make for very convincing reasons as to why you should attend class. Also, if you don't attend class, you're more likely to fail. Material is straight-forward but a lot of understanding is needed. Very helpful but also blunt and not afraid to offend.
Amazing prof, amazing class. I heard about him a lot and even though I never planned on taking animal behaviour I took it just to take one of his classes. I'll probably take his advanced one too next year. First exam (20% each, final is cumulative and 40%) was only 10 questions so it'll boost your grade if you do well.
Really enjoyed this class. He's sarcastic, but I definitely learned to enjoy his sense of humor. Labs are hard- take your time with them.
I had Gadbois for Research Methods and Animal Behaviour. Research Methods seemed easier than Animal, as the latter seemed a tad all-over-the-place. Honestly, I didn't find him to be as great a prof. as he's cracked up to be. He seems kind of pretensions and vain, and his humor can be a bit too sarcastic (although at times, it can be funny!).
Dr. Gadbois is one of my favourite profs at Dal! I love his teaching style. I find him very east to understand and follow! If you pay attention in lectures and study his powerpoint slides you will do great!
This class is meh. Its basically mandatory if you're in psych so you'll need to take it. Honestly, I've been to maybe 6 classes all semester and I'm doing averagely. The lectures are useless to attend, Gadbois goes off on so many tangents and nothing he says seems relevant ever. Labs are pretty hard though.
You will truly appreciate this course when you go on in 3000 and 4000 level PSYO classes, especially for P3000 and honours. Gadbois is an amazing professor. I looked forward to attending this class every week and learned lots. If you attend class, study hard, and you are a good writer (for the labs) you can no doubt pull off an A+.
His lectures are very interesting, even though the material can be a bit boring. It is easy to do well if you go to lecture. The lab had a few assignments, which included 2 full lab reports. The class is work, but very doable. Dr. Gadbois is an amazing professor!
I love Dr. Gadbois, one of the most engaging professors I've had at dal to date, I've taken two more of his courses simply because he taught them. Very engaging lecturer, especially considering how dry the material can be. He puts questions on the test that you'll only be able answer if you've been to lecture, so make sure you take good notes.
Goes on long tangents that are not in the textbook or his presentations, but expects you to know about them in full detail for a test! Mainly talks about different theories and not much about actual animal behaviours. Not interesting or enjoyable.
Confused as to why everyone seems to love him as a professor? He says the textbook is required yet nothing from the lectures are even in the textbook. You have to listen to every single word he says in class because he asks the most specific questions about random details. Goes off on tangents, and gets mad about everything. Would not recommend.
I love Dr. Gadbois. So kind, so passionate, so humble. He cares about his students and he wants to help you succeed. And, he loves what he teaches. However, this class is not easy and he's not the most organized. I think he's working to improve the class though.
Gadbois is AMAZING. Took this in the summer. Tests are very straightforward.. One or two tough questions but so many obvious answers (as long as you study). Go to class and you will do great. He's so smart and is so interested in what he teaches. His examples are so interesting!! This course made me decide to change career paths. So good!
Great professor. Material was a bit dry but he made it more interesting. He's very kind and wants students to succeed, I do love him as a professor, although he can be a bit disorganized and goes off on angry rants every now and then (it's funny and you'll miss it once his course is over)
Dr. Gadbois is wonderful. I dreaded 2000 but his examples were v. helpful. 2160 is his course but only take it if it interests you. Watch your attendance, likes detail & mainly tests you on antidotes. Use texts as a 2nd ref. He's popular so go early to his OH, v. understanding. Organized imo given role in dept. & uni. in general. A- in both.
Great professor, amazing teaching skills. Very informed and interesting, and extremely fair with testing matching lectures. A+++
Loooong powerpoint lectures (I'm talking 100 slides), and he really goes off topic quite a bit so those lectures take about 4 classes to go through! Content is okay... but overall there was an issue with how stuff was emphasized so it was hard to know where to focus.
Dr. Gadbois isn't a bad prof its just hard to tell what he'll test you on. He doesnt give the most helpful advice on what to study and as a result you'll find yourself reading through 20 power points ranging from 20-70 slides.
Unequivocally the best prof I have ever had. Amazing at teaching the subject, class itself was very interesting, and overall a funny and nice guy to listen to. Highly recommend any class with him!
Best prof I've ever had! Amazing at teaching the subject, class itself was very interesting, and overall a funny and nice guy to listen to. Highly recommend any class with him!
Professor Simon Gadbois is a fantastic teacher, is caring, and is extremely humorous during his lectures. Makes the course very interesting and the tests were fair. Be prepared to take excellent notes, and reviewing the slides helps. Do not skip classes. Brings his research experience to the class and this adds depth. Recommend this class.
Such a good prof! If you review your notes you'll do great on tests. He's hilarious and engaging and that French accent isn't hard to listen to
Great prof, but this class was based 100% on exams and midterms. Going to lectures is mandatory because he puts a lot on the exams that is only in lecture .
Honestly Gadbois is a great prof. Lectures are funny (makes material easy to remember) and he's very clear when explaining. He can come off as arrogant but he's actually very helpful and approachable. Definitely recommend!
Okay, whats not to like about Gadbois? He is hilarious in the kind of way that only an expert in the subject matter can be. Youll find yourself laughing about story he told in class when it Johns your memory during an exam. He is so good that I almost didnt take the advanced class when I heard he wasnt teaching it that year! Absolutely amazing
One of the best profs Ive had! He is hilarious. Attendance matters in his class & exam grades definitely reflect this. Online slides have minimal information. He makes it very clear what you need to know & uses lots of psych/neuro related examples. Textbook suggested, not required. Exams are easy/fair if you go to class. Takes attendance for bonus.
Gadbois is a great guy and great prof, although I wasnt fond of his approach to this class as Im someone that likes to listen rather than viciously scribble down notes. His exams are very lecture heavy and if you study the textbook you will fail. Hes funny and approachable yet intimidating but Im still going to take more classes with him.
Gadbois' exams focus mainly on the lectures so it is important to attend class. That being said, I attended every class and still found the exams difficult. You really need to pay attention and scribble down every word he says because the slides alone with minimal notes are not enough. Don't bother getting the textbook because it isn't helpful
Gadbois is a good prof and tries to make the material more interesting by adding a lot of anecdotes. He can talk about one slide for 20 minutes and you really have to pay attention to what he is saying in order to do well in the class. The exams were slightly difficult, more so if you don't attend class and take notes. Will not use textbook.
for PSYO 2160 Animal Behaviour, it was rough. Simply put, i would not recommend him as a prof, teacher or tester. He is knowledgeable and no doubt a good researcher, but some profs need to learn to teach and test on relevance to the topic/ course.
Gadbois his hands down one of my favourite professors. He is so passionate about his field of study, and if you're actually interested in what he has to teach and say, there's no reason why you shouldn't do well in his class. He is hilarious and may seem unapproachable at first, but he's honestly a real swell guy!
I was unsure of Gadbois due to having taken PSYO 2000 with him the previous semester, and wanting to cry during the final. My unease was put to rest when I attended his lectures, his pure enjoyment and expertise in the field was evident, and it was a pleasure to be a part of his class.
Professor Gadbois is super interesting and is very knowledgeable about the field. His exams are VERY detailed. So takes lots of notes during class. Need to write down examples and minor details that may seem insignificant if you want to be well prepared for the exams.
Extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and pretty nice once you get to know him! Exams are quite in-depth, but if you study the slides really well and pay attention in class (he's an engaging lecturer) you're going to get a good grade. You just need to be willing to put in the time. Be sure to note any examples he uses!
If you dont show up to class, I guarantee you will fail his class. No doubt. That being said, Dr. Gadbois is by far one of the best lecturers not just in the department, but at the university, so youd be a fool to skip class anyways. Hes not teaching PSYO 2000 anymore, as he is moving on to other classes. Glad I got to take the class with him.
best prof at dal. very caring of students but you MUST attend class to do well.
One of the best profs I've had by far. Really helpful and is patient and happy to re-explain concepts that were misunderstood directly in class!
Dr. Gadbois is the best prof Ive had so far at Dal. One of the few profs that is actually engaging and makes class enjoyable, even when the material is dull. Attendance isnt taken, but if you skip class you will fail - as his lecture slides are supplemented by what he says in class. Hes also hilarious which makes class more enjoyable.
I love Gadbois so much that I decided to take his animal behavior class. Any issues with him relating to PSYO2000 is because the material itself is weird. I find his tests difficult with some very specific questions and the labs are what helped my grade. You need to attend class for specific examples that will appear on test but lectures are great
Dr. Gadbois was amazing during this seminar. He let us completely mold the class around whatever we were interested in and was extremely fair with marking. He asks you questions because of genuine interest and to stir conversation rather than as a "gotcha", which some profs seem to do. He's very kind, intelligent, and cares a lot.
Dr. Gadbois is my favourite professor I've had at Dal so far. I'm the kind of person that hates attending class and I usually give up halfway through the term but I didn't miss a single lecture because he's so engaging. Exam questions are specific and he tests on a lot of examples from class but if you just go to class you will remember everything.
Work very hard and you can be prepared, plus do NOT skip class. Take excellent notes and read the text. Keep on top of the material . Dr. Gadbois is one of best teachers in the department. The lack of online quizzes for some of his classes makes his grading more fair than some others. He cares about honesty.
He does a great job of adjusting the course pace to help students. His tests are specific and are heavily based on lectures, so DO NOT skip lectures and think you will pass. Take good notes and don't forget to take notes on his examples, they aren't tangents, they will be on the test. He's the best prof I've ever had and I love all his courses.
Do not take PSYO 2140, it is easily the hardest class I've ever taken. The first midterm wasn't bad, but I still only got an 80. The second midterm is coming up and I have never been more confused in my life. The professor himself is not a bad guy, the material is just an absolute trainwreck. Only marked on 3 exams. Final is cumulative.
Dont get me wrong he seems like a good guy, but he posts lectures all at once and right before midterms so you are left scrambling to do notes and somehow study in a matter of 4 days. Lecture videos can go over 2 hours & are extremely dense!!!! Frustrating with NOT posting for weeks and then post RIGHT before midterm. Just a warning.
Posted all lectures at once, very very difficult to follow
He's a great person, but his Animal Behaviour class is very hard. It's the only class in University that I've received a B in. Despite that, he's a great lecturer, really passionate about what he does, but his exams are hard. DO NOT skip any lectures!! If you think you don't have to know something, think again, all the small details are important!
Highlights/bolds everything you need to study for upcoming exams, and often tells you how to prepare for them (they are short answer only, but he is not a tough marker for them.) Very funny and kind, and his lectures are very interesting and enjoyable!
i love this prof so much and would definitely take his classes again. He's very passionate about the subjects he teaches and his lectures are so enjoyable! The only thing is that if you're not used to short answer tests you might struggle (there are no multiple choice tests) and ALWAYS GO TO LECTURES
His class is not inclusive to all students' learning types!! His exams are based on things he says in lectures that are NOT in the Keynote presentations, which of course, is not great if you have inattentive ADHD (I have it). He also has been known to make ableist comments.
One of the best professors at Dalhousie. Very passionate about what he teaches, and if you're interested in animals, you'll love the class. Make sure to attend all classes or watch the recorded lectures, you will not be able to achieve a good mark if you study only off of PP slides. Testing was fair if you put in the work (not hard to do).
Dr. Gadbois is very good at teaching. His lectures are engaging and he's passionate about what he does. I've taken a few of his courses, and I find that he can be a little intimidating and condescending. He's a busy prof and often doesn't respond to his emails either.
He gives interesting lectures but the way the course is structured is very inaccessible and frustrating. The entire grade is made up of only three exams, and virtually no lecture material is provided outside of vague slides. Even being at every lecture and taking copious notes, if you miss ANY information (and there's a lot), it's just gone.
He seems like a nice guy but it got so annoying hearing him blame the fact that we are only graded on 3 things on administration, especially when bright space quizzes exist, and he could've easily used one of those. Just has a weird teaching style too, if you look down for a second you could miss something that's on the exam
Most amazing professor I have ever had by a mile. So clearly passionate about what he does, and very true to his beliefs and values. Incredibility engaging lectures, you just need to try to listen and you will be pulled in by curiosity quickly. Complaints I've read seem to stem from a real lack of effort from the student, he just keeps it real.
Lectures were not recorded and notes were not provided, just the lecture slides that had very little information on them. Lectures were boring at times and it was difficult to catch up if you missed anything.
Gadbois is one of the funniest and most engaging profs. Overall, this class is very interesting and he constantly provides funny or thoughtful examples throughout the lecture. Sometimes the lectures are boring, but if you take your time to engage with the material and attend the lectures you will do well in the course, and learn some cool things.
Amazing prof; not hard to do well if you actually put the work in and study everything. Most exam questions are very surface level. Go to every class and record. I was super sick for the final and left 45 mins in bc i couldn't concentrate and still magically passed and he even bumped my grade up to the next letter grade because of attendance.
Dr. Gadbois is one of my favorite professors at Dal. His lectures are very interesting and I highly recommend taking his courses.
Dr. Gadbois is a passionate and engaging professor. His lectures are interesting, but attendance is a must. If you put in the work, the exams are fair, and tools like Unstuck AI can really help with test prep.
Dr Gadbois writes very fair exams. He tells you exactly what is on the exams and how to study for them; however, you must attend every class or you will miss important information.
Gadbois is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Every time he lectured I was on the edge of my seat because he was so engaging and funny. He made the content that he referred to as a bit dry super interesting. He also made it very clear what we had to know when it came to exams, no confusion.
This was my favourite class I've taken in a while. I honestly feel like I got so much out of it. I now understand what research is, how it's conducted, and how to read and write scientific papers. I will always be greatful for the passion, and engagement Dr Gadbois puts into his lectures. His exams are fair and have high content validity.
Gadbois took up time giving motivational talks and setting his expectations. No recorded lectures/textbook. The prof was not approachable during office hours, tried once, highly judgemental and full of himself. Most students take his class as he is a good looking oldie with a sense of humor. Nothing special in his content. Not accommodative.
Honestly loved this prof so much last semester. I was a bit intimidated by the class at the beginning of the semester so I listened to all of his suggestions in order to do well. I went to every class, recorded on my iPad, rewatched them and made flash cards to test myself for the exams. His exams are very fair !
He is very condescending and not accommodating whatsoever. do not take any of hi classes if you have a learning disability.
Gadbois is a horrible prof who does not care about his students one bit. He has clear issues with accessibility services and lets it impact his interactions with students. He is hard to follow in class and overall is kind of confusing. Would not recommend taking anything from him unless you have too.
Great professor
I had 3 courses with him he is so passionate and knows a lot about material teach, exams are fair word by word from lecture slides but if you can't memorize the name of animals don't take animal behaviour 2160 as I don't get good grade little bit judgemental yes agree with others said in his office hours he is always in rush
He's very fair and respected. Everyone saying he's rude needs to grow some balllsss cuz he's just upfront. You must go to class to pass as most info on exams are from in class examples. He's very funny but don't get distracted and rely on the slides cause you will need to take your own notes. Love Gadbois if take it again
I've take PSYO 2000 and PSYO 2160 with him and i love him. PSYO 2000 is boring but it's not his fault, 2160 is much better because he's more passionate about it. His midterms are easy but you HAVE to go to class and make sure you write down what he says. He's precise but makes the lectures entertaining and easier to memorize.
Gadbois is a great prof overall, and his lectures may be super dense and require note taking but he makes them super engaging and interesting. You can tell he is very passionate about the subjects he teaches. He's also been very helpful with academic advising, and usually answers all questions the class has regarding tests/exams.
I speak for many students when I say we were entirely let down with advanced animal behaviour. This class feels like its purpose is to fill time in the professor's schedule because lectures are repetitive, lazy, and the material covered is not engaging. Wouldn't recommend taking this class
Dr. Gabois is an amazing lecturer and he knows the subject matter well. He can teach it in a digestible way. He tells you what to focus on for the exams. A 1% bonus is available. The grade is based on 3 exams which can be stressful but they are all multiple choice.
You must attend class to do half well in this course, I'd recommend recording them too. Class 2 midterms (60%) and 1 final cumulative exam (40%) Great Prof, semi interesting, very clear with expectations
Does not know how to make a proper exam. “In a video we watched in week 3 a raccoon was stuck, explain the phenomena associated with this raccoon” he's a gotcha prof who uses poor wording instead of proper testing.
Honestly just such an amazing prof. You're lucky to have him. He doesn't deal with bs and is very straightforward but he's so fair in his exams and grading. Every time I think I failed his class I always end up with a grade higher than i expected. Gives sm hints for what to expect on the exams. SHOW UP TO CLASS and record the lectures.
Dr. Gadbois is very knowledgeable. His lectures can seem confusing at first, but learning to take notes from his slides is key. He only tests slide material. Attending class helps—his examples are clear, exams are very fair, and videos matter. If you study and ask questions, you'll do amazing for sure.
Dr. Gadbois is so caring for his students. My grandfather passed away right during finals and I unfortunately wasn't able to write the final. Dr. Gadbois helped me figure out a way where I could still get a grade for this class even without writing it. He was so understanding especially during such a difficult time. I will always remember that.
Confusing lectures
Miss taking classes with Gadbois. It was nice to finally have a prof test about content that was actually taught in class. Miss the satisfaction of actually leaving a midterm feeling confident. He's clearly very passionate about his research which is refreshing. May seem scary at first but he's fr one of the best profs and knows how to lecture!
