Absolutely hilarious and very helpful when it comes to explaining. Seems to care a lot about students well-being.
Engaging lectures, tries to make things interactive and really cares about his students, super funny guy too. Sometimes he talks a bit too fast though, also could do better with pacing, usually the first half of the lecture is really in depth but the second half is not as in depth. Overall Great prof.
Simon's a super prof, makes classes extremely interesting. You have to attend classes, he covers a lot of stuff in them. Tests are based on PPTs and text.
He gives really interesting lectures with videos to keep you awake. Also has good humour and gives you the chance to boost your grade by 3% by being part of psychology research like taking surveys.
Psych is fun! This teacher is hilarious ( not sure I understand everything he says, he uses funny words :). His lectures are entertaining, engaging and compliment material from the textbook ( you still need to read your stuff). He is also super nice & helpful. Exam was fair. He should get hugged.
Nice teacher. Never taken psych before but it was a nice introduction. There is a lot of reading and his lectures are jam packed with explanations so if you're tired, its a challenge. Tests are challenging but fair. Take it from a non arts student. I wouldn't say I would take psych again, but give him a shot. He includes statistics and memes. :)
Amazing lecturer, never wanted to miss a class because he was interesting, funny and relatable. It is obviously work but he is so passionate and fun that it makes it all worth it! Learnt so much in this class, 10/10 recommend, I would even take it again!
Dr Lolliot is one of my favourite lecturers! He keeps lectures engaging by being funny, giving breaks, and using a variety of media (videos, pictures), and always gives clear, insightful answers to student questions in lectures. His expectations are clear, and as long as you use the text and study your notes you'll do well.
Simon is one of the most engaging and helpful professor I've had since coming to UBC. His slides are filled with hilarious texts and memes, making him very relatable as a professor, never a dull moment in his lecture! It is easy to do well on his tests, as long as you listen in class and do the readings required, I'd love to take his course again!
My favorite Psyc prof :)
Simon is an amazing professor who genuinely cares for the well being of his students. He makes lectures fun and engaging, but does expect you to come to his class. His slides are generally clear, but are expanded further in his lectures. Super fun and unforgettable :)
Just to continue the Simon is amazing train He really was a fantastic lecturer, the exams are fair and if you put in effort you can do well. He knows how to lecture with a balance of text, media and interaction and gives breaks which is super helpful. Really try to take his class if you can!!
lecture slides have most of the information. he's funny and sociable
Filled with laughs and loaded with plenty of detailed examples, the material was made fun and very clear. It was a pleasure being in his class. As long as you show up, listen and read the text book, it is easy to do well!
Simon is phenomenal. He makes lecture interesting and he is kinda funny. Probably because he is quite new and still full of energy. He is very helpful too - students are always lining up after lectures to ask him questions. I'd take all courses that he is gonna teach!
Simon made the boring PSYC102 course into a pretty fun class. If you take some time to do some reading and learn the material, there should be no problem getting an A because the exams are not created to trick you.
Simon is an awesome prof. Definitely would recommend taking him. His lectures are fun and it is easy to learn from him. Definitely would take again if I could
(+)Simon is great at communicating the concepts in a non-academic or overly technical way - this makes for a great lecture. That he is clearly passionate about the subject is definitely a plus. Tests are fair, covering textbook and lecture material. (-) Needs to keep promises and uphold his teaching commitments (re. marks, availability, responses
Simon is a great professor. He cares about his students and about whether or not you learn the material
I can pay attention to him even if I fell asleep in another lecture earlier. He is a hyper! Very energetic lecturer! I feel so lucky to have him in my university life!
Coming to class matters because his slides are EXTREMELY vague if you skip lectures. His tests include info from the text that he doesn't cover in his slides which is sort of unfair. Basically by the end of the term, you'll read the entire textbook... and so if you don't read, tests are about 20-30% textbook questions. Good prof, but work hard.
Simon is an awesome prof! He is always engaging and extremely funny and charming, always with a smile on his face. You can tell that he really cares about his students and even does online office hours for those who can't make it to regular ones. Exams are not tough as long as you listen to lectures and read the text! Would take again!
Dr. Lolliot is an amazing lecturer! You are guaranteed to laugh every class! To do well, come to every class (not at all a chore when Dr. Lolliot is teaching) and read the textbook. He truly cares about his students, checking in with us through surveys and keeping extra office hours around exam time.
He's absolutely amazing, probably the best prof I had so far. He's very engaging when it comes to lectures and would always include hilarious pictures and videos relating to lecture topics.
Love his lectures!
Amazing. Honestly, if you listen to his lecture and simply do the readings, there is no excuse not to get 90+. He makes great effort to make lectures interesting; therefore, gong to class is easy. He provides lots of office hours and accessibility for students, which I didn't need because the course is easy anyway.
Great prof. MC on midterms and final, Most of them are application questions and NOT ACCUMULATIVE. Expect you to read every corner of the chapters covered. Oh, and DO NOT skip lectures, there are things covered in lectures that are not in the textbook. Lots of office hours, difficulty really depends on the person. Take him if u can, highly recom.
Simon is an engaging prof with amazing lectures. His midterms and exam were pretty difficult, hence the reason why attendance is pretty important if you want a really good mark. Although the textbook would suffice for information, his tests are all extrapolated from the lectures and it shows you what to focus on while studying.
His lectures are a real joy to watch although I did usually have to follow up and read the textbook to actually learn the material. He had multiple extra online office hours and made videos for things he didn't have time to cover within lectures which shows how much he cares about his students learning.
Wonderful prof, funny guy, and amazing to look at ;). However his easy going demeanour makes you think his exams are going to be easy, when in fact they're quit difficult. Don't forget to do the readings, because his lecture slides have very little info and its all from memory! All in all, cares a great deal for his students and was great.
Simon is amazing. he is super nice and funny and outgoing. Always puts memes and jokes into his lecture slides. Really cares about his students. If you are taking this as a grade booster it might be hard because you do have to study and pay attention. I loved him and his lectures but still had a hard time in the class as it was low priority for me.
Simon is very caring, super helpful and understanding. AMAZING lectures, He's very patient with everyone's questions and knowledgeable of the material. If there's a question that he isn't able to fully answer in class, he would go and research the topic further and let us know the next class.
Absolutely loved professor Lolliot. He is an engaging/inspirational lecturer who is very good at explaining concepts. A harder course than other psych courses because it is based on understanding than just memorising. Made me fall in love with social psychology and I've met him out of office hours to talk about psychology out of the courses scope.
One of the most inspirational professors I've ever had, Simon is a wonderful person who will always try his best, not to make you pass the course but for you to learn (and also pass the course). He is usually in his office so you can find him easily if you want to chat about something covered in class outside office hours.
Dr. Lolliot is truly an amazing professor. He is very technology based and send out videos, has a 24 hour chat, makes the textbook available online for free, and his lectures are so fun and engaging. He truly loves what he does and cares abut his students. I hope to take many more courses with him because he is so so great. 100% recommend
best. teacher. ever
My best professor at UBC so far. I hope I get a prof as good as him for the rest of my courses! Makes lectures entertaining without dumbing them down too much. Probably the only class where my attention doesn't drift away of it's own accord
Simon is a wonderful prof will his hilarious jokes. Good looking and enthusiastic about the subject. You will enjoy his class. However, tests are in MC and they often have more than 1 correct answer, so memorizing entire sessions (which i did) wasn't good enough. Need luck as well, so don't be surprised if you got a 74% after memorizing everything.
Amazing prof, made my first year at UBC a great experience! He's always enthusiastic, funny, and easy to talk to. It's hard to get sleepy in his class, that would be like falling asleep at a Dave Chapelle show. Tip: Pay ATTENTION to what he puts in his slides if that's not obvious. I recommend EVERYONE INTERESTED IN PSYCH 102 to take his class :)
He is such a good professor and really wants you to understand the material rather than just memorize everything so go to his lectures. Would recommend taking his class for Psych102 100%.
Absolutely amazing lectures. You can really tell that he puts 110% into his classes and really wants you to understand the material, not just learn it and forget. He goes above and beyond to answer your questions, either through online office hours, or through Canvas discussion boards. He uses relatable examples which are easy to understand. 12/10.
Best professor at UBC by far. Genuinely cares about his students and puts in a lot of effort into teaching and ensuring that his students do as well as they can. He makes sure that his lectures are as entertaining and informative as possible and is a kind, pleasant, approachable person (don't hesitate to go to office hours just to say hi!).
Simon is the best prof ever! In addition to his engaging and interesting lectures, he is super accessible outside class. Not only does he take a lot of his time to answer questions on Canvas with detail, he even holds video conference calls to help students understand concepts! Super nice and friendly, you won't regret taking his course! :)
Prof. Lolliot is the best professor that I have ever had. He is very nice, knowledgeable, hilarious, helpful and generous no matter in class or outside the class. His class is very attractive and energetic. He has the magic to let students have interest and fun in learning Psychology. If you do not take Prof. Lolliot' s course, it is a pity!
Honestly the best professor I've had had and probably ever will have. Super passionate and enthusiastic about course material which makes it that much more interesting(course content is already interesting). Also very friendly, approachable and dedicated - provides online office hours and additional online office hours before exams. Take his class!
One of the best profs ever, cares a great deal for his students. TOUGH exams and marking. Don't be fooled, the psychology department has strict rules with averages.
The only lectures I actually looked forward to going to this term were Psych 102 with Simon. He's incredibly engaging, funny, and truly cares about his students. Show up to lectures, brief yourself with the online textbook, and you will do fine. Also, he literally responds to emails within 5 minutes. Would DEFINITELY take this class again.
Favourite professor! You can tell he loves he material and loves his job. His passion makes its way to yours and going to class doesn't become a chore anymore. Exams are tricky though and psych 102 is what lowered my GPA this term.
Professor Lolliot is probably the best teacher I have ever had. He is hilarious and engaging, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students. He makes the textbook free to access online, too!
Simon is by for the best prof I have ever had. He is incredibly enthusiastic and his lectures are both interesting and engaging. He is hilarious and obviously cares about his work and his students immensely. The material was easy to understand and I didn't need the textbook at all. I would highly recommend this course
Simon was an amazing prof. He made lectures engaging and fun to attend, gave good examples to explain concepts and posted his slides before and after class. Recommend going to class as his slides are somewhat vague and confusing but he was an awesome professor. Midterms weren't super hard but the final was noticeably harder
I absolutely loved being in Simon's class, as he was so obviously caring and supportive of the learning of his students. He was incredibly easy to talk to and always willing to provide clarification. His lectures always ended with a picture of a cute baby animal! Wish I could take another of his classes.
An energetic, charismatic lecturer; tries his best to make the class enjoyable. Midterms were easy but the final was considerably difficult, and I assume it was because he needed to lower our class average without having to resort to scaling. You can get bonus credit by attending psych labs. Know how to apply concepts you learn.
While he appears to be a friendly, funny, genuine professor, everything goes down the drain when it comes to writing the final exam. While midterms were fair, the final was terrible, with the class average being close to 50% (in an intro class). How on earth would anyone be motivated to take another psych class after taking this.
Simon is the best prof I've had at UBC by far. He puts effort into his lectures and always has something fun and interactive planned. Our whole class was always laughing. He is also super considerate and used a free textbook + iclicker(mentimeter). He is always open to talk about anything and is there to help. Wish he taught more courses!!
There are parts from the text that are on tests, but aren't included in lectures (he will tell you what they are) so use the textbook! Simon is very approachable, great at teaching and enthusiastic. He speaks a bit too fast, and his lectures are mostly photos with some words (so attending the class is a must). Exams are hard but not impossible.
He made me love Psych even more!
Simon is the best prof and best teacher I've ever met in my life! He literally changes my life choice. Before I take his course, I just have a little interest in psychology. After finishing his course, I decide to pursue a psychology degree. Simon is respectful, enthusiastic and approachable. Do not miss this experience!
Great, great, great. Take him if you can. His lectures are amazing, he keeps everyone well engaged and he explains everything thoroughly.
Amazing professor! His lectures are high-energy and engaging. He uses stories/examples to help you effectively remember each concept, as psychology involves a lot of memorization. Highly recommend taking his class! Super interesting, and he's such a relatable guy!
I adore Simon. Kind, passionate, lovely accent, hot af, and an absolute joy to be around. His lectures are incredible and so engaging. He holds office hours in person and online by livestreaming. Tests are multiple choice, but he will test on lecture examples and textbook material, so do your reading.
Simon is a nice person, he understands things from students' point of view and attempts to make our lives easier whenever possible. He is also open to discuss about any topic, if you ever have any psychological or philosophical question that you want answered from a professor, he is the guy.
Simon is amazing! I love going to his class; his lectures are always filled with energy, funny stories and engaging slides, and he truly cares about us and answering our questions. He's also super relatable and holds coffee time where you can just chat with him like a friend. He also has a wonderful accent, motivates me to do well- best prof ever:)
Very awesome prof! His lectures are always amazing, making me willing to get up. He definitely enjoys teaching! But the exams are somehow tricky, and there is the normal curve thing (pretty hard to get a high grade).
The best prof I have ever had. He gives the best lectures - they're super engaging, and he's funny too! His classes make it worth waking up in the morning. He genuinely cares about his students, and finds ways to help you out. Take his class if you get the chance! This test, and the results, are not indicative of your self worth." -Simon b4 a test
The best prof I've ever had!!! Although he uploads every lecture slides, it is worth going to his lecture. His exams are based on the application of the knowledge, which requires thorough understanding of the content. However, Dr. Lolliot is a great lecturer and he cares about his students which really helps the understanding :)
Simon is such an amazing professor. As someone who was never very interested in psychology, I looked forward to every lecture, as they were super entertaining and engaging. Simon is so caring and supportive, and he's also a great teacher. The class was not much work. Midterms were not too difficult if you attend lectures. Best professor ever!
Professor Lolliot is an open, caring, and dynamic teacher. He's very clear about what is expected to be learned and conscientious in his treatment of the subject matter, particularly when it comes to sensitive topics.
Funny, carrying, and awesome. Gets you really interested in the material that is covered and inspires/motivates you to learn/study. Had a lot of fun, was really educational, and definitely interested in more psychology courses after his class. Would 100% recommend him as a prof to friends and others.
Simon is a very engaging and helpful prof. He really wants his students to succeed. He offers lots of help outside of class time. His exams are a bit tricky but overall its an easy pass.
Simon is such a wholesome prof, and his lectures are really interesting and engaging! His exams are all multiple-choice and tests and includes both lecture and textbook material. There's one research paper that's graded really tough, but the exams are pretty easy if you read the textbook thoroughly!
One of the best lecturers I've had - the amount of insight and preparation he puts into his lectures is astounding. It's like coming to an A+ Ted talk every class. Exams are easy to do alright in, hard to get more than 90% in because his multiple choice is tricky. Very caring and friendly, 10/10 would take again!
Simon is truly one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. He cares so much about his students and puts so much effort into making his classes entertaining and enjoyable while still teaching the information that needs to be taught. If you have an interest in psychology I would 100% recommend taking this course!
Simon is a fantastic prof. His lectures were incredibly engaging and interesting. I always looked forward to class! Exams were fair. Additionally, he is very accessible outside of class. Definitely take psyc 102 with him if you get the chance!
good prof
So good
Simon is a such amazing, kind, sweet, hilarious and awesome guy. His class is so interesting, and he prepares for every class very well. He provides many office hours and helps for students out of the class. The best prof I have ever met.
Simon is one the best profs Ive ever had so far! His lecture is amazing and sometimes funny. You can literally ask him any questions through an app called telegram and he replies really fast compared to email. His assignments and exams are not too difficult too.
Simon was by far the best prof/teacher I've ever had. He's the nicest guy ever and does an amazing job delivering the course content. I was sad to reach the end of the semester because I didn't want his class to be over. Simon, I hope you and your wife see this review and that it bumps you up in your competition! You're the best! :)
Simon is the most amazing prof that I've met. His class is magnificent. He contributed a lot for us to make us feel the sense of involving. He tries his best to create the the class activity and interaction with students. He can even remember every students name. His class is really worth to take.
Took psyc102 and I have to say hes the best prof Ive ever had so far! Definitely take him! You can tell how hard-working he is just by being in his lectures. Also, he is really accessible outside of class to help student. Whenever he answers students questions, he details so much and gives us knowledge way more than just the class material.
Simon was the most enthusiastic and caring prof I've ever had and his lectures were always very engaging. He explains material clearly, has plenty of office hours (especially around midterms), and makes a genuine effort to get to know and remember his students.
amazing
He is definitely my favourite professor at UBC so far. So genuinely caring about his students and really wants them to succeed. In a class of around 300 people, he has managed to learn the names of many of the students. He is hilarious, intelligent, and overall a 10/10 professor.
Great prof
Amazing! He was engaging, approachable, and super informative. Though we had an extremely full class, he had a way of making the lecture hall feel more like a small discussion. He still managed to be challenging, and I really felt like I was learning and growing as a student. My friends and I are going to take another of his classes next year!
Great prof, I really enjoyed going to his classes. He is very funny and puts lots of effort into his lecturess. Midterms were fair and not too hard if you go to class. 10/10 recommend!
Simon is a gem. His lectures are so interesting and easy to understand. Lots of pictures and not a lot of words on slides so come to class or else you won't understand the slides. Mark based on 3 exams, a project, and research credit. Very accessible outside of class and will go out of his way to help everyone. Take his classes. You won't regret it
A charismatic, solid prof who is an amazing speaker and takes less than 5 minutes to reply to emails. However, the course was more difficult than I expected. The 2 midterms and final were all m/c but the questions can be confusing (Class avg was 67.) Regardless, it's difficult to find a more responsible prof!
I love his attitude and personality! He used to have a coffee session where students can go and talk to him about anything and he asked us what could he do better for his teaching. He danced in one class lol. The exams are not easy. You need too put a lot of effort into it and READ the textbook (the reason I got B- TT). The grading is tough.
Very caring prof; gave us 5-10min of break every class. His lectures are entertaining & contain plenty of memes, and the prof himself has a great personality; however, his exams (all M/C) are quite hard and tricky. There is a LOT of content--luckily for us, he separates the exams/midterms into 3. The final is considerably easier than the midterms.
Really interesting guy who is passionate about what he teaches. Took a 9:30 am class with him and he's the only reason I got out of bed in those mornings. Midterms are heavy in written questions, but if you study it is manageable.
Dr. Simon is one of my favorite professors at UBC. I took PSYC 208 with him this term and couldn't recommend the course more! Dr. Simon is kind, engaging, inspirational, and highly intelligent about his lecture material. It is clear that he genuinely cares about his students, setting up many channels of communication to help students thrive.
Simon is such a good professor, and I always really enjoyed going to his class. He was really knowledgeable about the course material and I feel like I learned a lot in his class. However, his tests are very difficult but they are alright if you are properly prepared based on his practice tests.
Takes extremely long to return assignments (we had a midterm a month ago and still haven't gotten it back, despite it being MC + short answer). Goes way too fast during lectures but frequently runs out of time because he goes off topic. I thought I would enjoy this class because the topic is interesting, but I'm sad to say I was disappointed.
I find it cringy how he talks so much about his own studies during lecture. A lot of profs mention their own work in class, but Simon does it WAY too much. For example, one time the assigned reading was literally his own study. He didn't even acknowledge this during class.
doesn't let us give him any constructive feedback unless it's sandwiched in between 2 compliments, he calls it a bad news sandwich lol
Simon was one of the best professor I have ever had at UBC. He truly cares for his students which is shown through his commitment- he is very responsive and tries to accommodate to his students' schedules with deadlines. Lectures are long and are confusing at times and his exams are fairly difficult, but having a professor like Simon motivates you!
I took 2 of his courses. He cares about his students (their wellbeing, learning & grades. His lectures are fun, interesting & engaging. His enthusiasm for the material will make you be motivated to study. He really knows what he's teaching. He always answers questions on Canvas. His courses, projects & tests are really hard. Class average: 68%.
I like how he doesn't have us buy a textbook
Prof. Lolliot is really respectable and caring, but somehow disorganized. Lots of repetition and typos on the slides, no practice questions before the final exams and the TA is really tough.
He is such a nice professor! Caring and easygoing. I took both of his PSYC 101 and 102 classes. His classes are very funny. He'll explain the concept in an interesting way. But the exams are hard:( His office hours are very helpful too!
Nice and funny guy. The course is somewhat disorganised and incredibly hard but granted, this was its first year. Non-mandatory attendance but you won't get much from just the slides. The content is interesting and applicable to real life. Little guidance was offered for the papers but he's very accessible outside of class.
He's literally one of the BEST prof in UBC!!! Take him without any hesitation! We had two midterms, one final and one activity journal. I enjoyed his lecture a lot although his exams are little bit tricky, it's all good if you fully understand the content.
Dr Lolliot is one of the best professors at UBC. He is extremely caring and considerate. He provides pdfs of the textbook and readings and is very engaging. Attend the lectures! His slides are very plain and don't contain a lot of information. Very passionate about the subject! And available all the time! Take him if you have the chance!!!
Simon is one of the best profs Ive had at UBC. He made the course engaging and accessible, given the pandemic, without making the workload unmanageable. This course is fascinating, and his passion for the subject is very inspiring. Listens to feedback and cares about students. Genuinely kind, smart, funny, & engaging dude.
Simon is the best professor I have had so far in uni (I'm in second year). He was such a sweetheart and was so understanding to his students in this online semester. He is also incredibly knowledgeable and inspiring in the field of social psych/intergroup contact/conflict. Taking his class was an incredibly fulfilling experience. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Simon goes through a lot of content in his lectures quite quickly, but it should not be too much of a problem as he posts the recordings of the lectures after. He has been so caring and actively accommodating, and listens to students when there are issues with the course. The exams are reasonable, straightforward and aren't much of a curveball.
Super understanding and accommodating. He really cares about his students, their well-being and performance. Thoroughly enjoyed this course!
Professor Lolliot is knowledgeable, passionate, articulate and fair. His lectures are content heavy, but if you take the time to really take it in, you will learn A TON. Plus, this means the readings are mostly supplementary or good resources for papers! He provides great opportunities to practice what youve learned so dont pass them up.
I love this man. He really cares for students' wellbeing and more than once extended deadlines because we were all burned out from online uni. Told us not to buy a textbook and took the time to write his own readings when there weren't good substitutes. Just makes you feel at ease and interested in his class. Wish I got to meet him in person
Didnt enjoy his class
Simon's a nice person but he doesn't explain clearly. It's kind of hard understanding him.
He's a great professor. I absolutely love him! He is very considerate and extremely approachable both in and outside class. I am looking forward to have more classes with him.
simon's lectures are entertaining and informative, and you can tell he pours so much hard work into his classes. psych 102 is hard work, but he made it enjoyable. genuinely cares for his students and goes to great lengths to help them succeed.
Dr. Lolliot's a really kind guy and a good representative of UBC. For first years taking PSYC102 he's probably a breath of fresh air for many worrying over their profs; he makes sure his students are comfortable and understand the material well. One con is that he does go over the material quickly but I think he knows that and is trying to fix it.
A bit overrated. Really nice and funny and makes his lectures more presentable than anything in the world. However, I think his exams are way too hard; I know the average is fair but try just looking at the low side, prob not too great looking. "Multiple choice" more like "select all that apply" and if it isn't it's still square boxed online
One of the best profs at UBC. Puts so much work into making his lectures both entertaining and informative. Exams are HARD but if you pay attention in class and study youll be fine. His lectures were the highlight of my week and his class was genuinely so fun and educational. I would take literally any class Simon teaches. Highly highly recommend
Simon is an amazing human being. He TRULY cares about his students above anything else. His exams are HARD, so listen closely to the lectures and take detailed notes. His lectures are very engaging, you can tell that he puts a lot of effort ahead of time. Super funny!!! Take his class, you won't regret it.
Simon is literally the best professor ever!!!!!! Take him! Take him! Take him! And I promise you wont regret it. I absolutely loveddddd simon
The best professor I had my first year and first term. Makes you feel welcome and cared for. His lectures are engaging and it's clear that he puts his heart into his work. I'm fortunate enough to be signed up for another one of his classes next term.
He's just the perfect professor you could ask for. Caring, passionate about his subject, makes his lecture engaging, and truly does want you to succeed. If you get a chance to take him, please do!!
LOVED his class, you can tell he truly likes his job and cares about his students. Makes his lectures super interesting and is always something different. Highly recommend.
Literally cried during the last lecture. The most wholesome, kind, and hilarious professor I met. His exams are fast-paced (PLEASE READ QUICKLY) and you can't go into them without studying. Lecture attendance is beneficial as he mentions things about exams in there, plus he is a natural comedian. He is an experience you wouldn't want to miss!!!!!!!
He's literally a godsend. That's it. He's incredibly caring, passionate, and constantly improving himself as a teacher. Just take good notes during lectures and you can get an easy A. He's very understanding and records every lecture.
Awesome professor. Psyc isn't really for me, but his lectures were still extremely entertaining.
I think Simon was an awesome prof. The only thing I would add is the exams as HARD. Just took the final and it was hard asf. Just get ready for that
Simon was my best professor this term. Super awesome lectures. It was the one class I never wanted to skip even thought it was one of my earliest ones. I would definitely recommend you take his course if you plan on taking PSYC 102.
The professor has definitely overrated, even though I enjoy his lectures very much. Nevertheless, he tends to be hard on exams, including midterms and the final. Most of the questions are MC, but oftentimes they contain more than one correct answer, and he often groups together two options that are so similar you don't know what to choose.
So all of the other ratings saying how cool and hilarious Simon is, they aren't wrong but I honestly don't think it makes the class worth it. His lectures can be fun because he's energetic and funny but they seriously just reiterate everything you're going to read in the weekly readings (which btw are HEAVY), felt like we weren't graded on much.
He puts effort and energy into lectures, but there's severe limitations. Anytime outside of class, he does the bare minimum or less. Lectures less than 1/4 of the readings (that actually matter). Reading helps to follow along in class, he posts them late just like assignments/exam info, shows his true lack of organization. Exams are unfair
The opinion that he made lectures easy to listen to (without truly following along) doesnt make up for the fact that I've constantly had to worry about everything. Assignments/exam postings were rushed and often inaccurate. Any questions and help was blatantly ignored. I was gonna take PSYC 102 with another prof next term, ugh I wish I did!!!!!!!!!
Professor Lolliot was simply one of my favorite professors at UBC. His jokes and hilarious banter made learning psychology so much easier. He demonstrates a clear understanding of various areas of psychology and is so dedicated to his hundreds of students. He even gave me a pep talk right before the final exam because I was stressing out so much.
How did so many people rate Simon below a 4? Even with over 700 people in the class, he answered most of my emails in less than an hour. When there was a mistake with my midterm grading, he made me a personalized video to explain what the issue was. He truly cares about you. Not to mention, his lectures are extraordinary. I love Lolliot.
Man, what a guy. I loved each lecture, and thoroughly enjoyed the course. Yes, exams are hard, but he's definitely fair with the content and the way grades are distributed. He's just as entertaining and helpful in his office hours, and fully shows how much he cares for his students. I loved being a part of his psych "family". Hope to take him again
Simon is a GOD. He is hilarious, kind, and caring. Exams are tough as you have to study a lot for them. He even took the time to set up a meeting with me and helped me review how I studied, when I wasn't happy with my midterm mark. I consistently went to class and office hours and am so grateful that I took 102 with him.
Prof Simon is a legend. If you are looking to take an introductory course in psych with no prior knowledge of the subject, Simon is the way to go. The textbook he uses is a free pdf version, which is a plus. The exams are open book but definitely challenging and requires you to know how to apply all the concepts he has taught in class.
intersting and passionate professor. However, always does not reply any emails (I sent 8 and only replied 2). Midterm and final is really hard.
Goes off about how he doesn't have time for students and how our questions/concerns and feedback are invalid. Uses the same excuse that he wouldn't allow us to use to evade responsibilities, purposely cancels office hours and Q/A around exam times or goes afk on online sessions. Invests in lectures but only the readings matter (always posted late!)
Hes an amazing guy but his lecture slides are impossible to follow and definitely lack clarity, I found myself having to google most of the topics to get an explanation. also, he doesn't really give any feedback for essays, you just have to figure it out yourself.
Had him last year over Zoom. Sometimes lectures were unclear/disorganized, but he made up for that by being one of the kindest, caring profs ever. Exceptionally accommodating, and tries to rephrase concepts so everyone can understand. He creates a healthy, respectful atmosphere and inspires a love of the material.
Simon is an extremely caring prof who is considerate of his students mental health. He is an entertaining lecturer, however his lectures lack a clear structure which causes him to either speed up the ending or fall behind in content. His tests are quite hard and if you want to do well you will have to really understand the application of concepts.
good but hard course
Simon was by far the most caring professor I have ever had! He wrote the readings when there was not an appropriate source, added extra office hours around finals, was available 24/7 for contact, and even brought us cupcakes! Being said, his exams were a bit hard and unnecessarily detailed. His TA was awful. I recommend this course 100%!
Wow. 10/10 professor and human. Best lecturer I have had. Tests are well written, and he provides a free link to the textbook he uses. I don't have any negatives to say, truly best the best prof
Simon is a lovely person and an incredible prof. He is very passionate about the course material and cares a lot about his students. I found the amount of material and the timeline for completing projects overwhelming at times, but he is easy to talk to and is very understanding of students' circumstances. Highly recommend taking this class!
Lectures were a complete mess, especially for students who tried to participate online. Lecture slides were out of order, and often the livestream would cut out. Trying to read the textbook was even more of a nightmare, because the canvas page was a mess too. He seems like a nice guy, but the class was very disorganized.
Prof Lolliot is a good lecturer and finds ways to make difficult concepts make more sense with his examples. The tests are challenging because they're application-based. I'd recommend coming up with your own examples + understanding the concepts enough to explain them. Go to office hours, he is willing to re-explain concepts if you just ask!
VERY wonderful person, obviously cares a lot about his students, very good dude. However, I found his lectures repetitive and he would use so many examples I would get confused. I got kinda bored with the class and didn't put as much effort in. But he was awesome for extensions!
Simon is a great guy. He has amazing lectures that truly made me laugh, the only downside is the exams. His exams are open book but don't let that fool you, they are so extremely difficult. Do all extra HSP credit because you will need it. He doesn't scale because the average is in the low 60s anyways.
He is really great. His lectures are perfect. Even though there are difficulties in the midterm and final tests, it is really beneficial to go to his lectures. Will you learn how to use psychology in the real world and become very interested in this class.
His lectures are very entertaining, but he does give a lot of explanation -- which is why some find his lectures disorganized. The midterm and final are challenging since its more application-based -- best way to study is to make your own examples and link topics. He is hard to get in touch with if you have questions, so try to ask the TAs too.
Dr. Simon Lolliot is such an amazing professor who exceeded my expectations when it came to his lectures. He is the most caring person ever and is super fun and engaging. However, be aware of the difficulty level of his exams. The content of the course is straight forward but the test questions made no sense...
Very nice guy but impossible to reach by email. I sent him 5 emails and none of them were returned. Also, his tests are extremely confusing and difficult. He is a great speaker but because of these reasons you will struggle in his class.
Lovely prof, great to talk to and you can tell he cares about his students. His lectures are better than most.
Professor Lolliot is a fantastic professor. His lectures are fun and engaging. He posts all the content for each module beforehand to allow for easier accessibility! One thing is clear though - study hard for tests, and attend office hours as they can be helpful. One issue though was sometimes his slides had problems with formatting.
Dr. Lolliot is a very enthusiastic and engaging professor who is extremely knowledgeable about the topics he teaches. His lectures are engaging and always have a thorough amount of information in combination with examples and interactive material. His midterms are very fair but still cover important and challenging material.
He's a very kind professor. Classes were relativly easy, and if you miss a lecutre he records it and posts it for everyone too see (which is also really helpful when studying for exams). You can tell he cares about his job and it goes well in his classes. 10/10 would reccomend his classes
Simon is a really great guy, amazing lectures, genuinely enjoyed going to his class. Would take this course again :)
Wonderful lecture. I hated going to 9am classes but he always posts the lecture content in a really convenient and easy to access manner. You need to understand concepts tho not just memorize as his exams are application based.
Simon is a fantastic prof and gave the most amazing lectures. He always answered questions during class and provided many examples of complex concepts. The exams are a bit difficult and all application based, but overall the course is excellent. He has been my favorite prof this semester, and I would strongly recommend taking a course with him!!
Simon is the best professor I have ever had. If you have the opportunity to take his course, you will not regret it. He cares about your learning and records lectures. His lectures are fun. Without sounding cliche, he has left a wonderful impact on my life and I have no words to describe him fully. If I could give him 6 stars out of 5 I would.
Textbooks are available online, with no cost. The professor is super caring about the students and about our learning. I don't have any complaints.
Lolliot is a fantastic lecturer and a great professor, he really cares about all his students and is always open to answer questions. He is also hilarious and makes the content interesting. Only downside is that the exams are quite difficult. Would highly recommend his class!
Simon is literally the best professor I have had after going to UBC for 3 years. He genuinely cares for his students, makes lectures so fun, and makes so many good real life examples to help you learn. Highly recommend you take 102 with him !!
Simon is an awesome professor who cares about the students. Fun and entertaining lectures, and caring professor. Although his exams are extremely hard, the practice exam does not help, it is twice harder. If you are good and memorizing, than it's going to be less hard but all of his exams questions require great of understanding.
fun class with amazing lectures Simon really made me passionate about psychology. but even when I felt super confident about the material and went into the exams they were extremely difficult with confusing questions
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. I've never encountered one who was so passionate about teaching and cares so much for his students. GO TO HIS LECTURES. You wouldn't want to skip them anyway since you'll miss so much insightful knowledge and hilarious jokes (I'll miss Schmimon). His office hours also really helped me better understand the course material
Lectures were always engaging. My mood was often brightened due to his class. Make sure you attend the lectures, he is very clear about what will be on exams. Also, prevented me from fainting during an exam :))
Simon's classes were always super engaging and his examples for the content are original. I never skipped a single class. He had office hours twice a week and the midterms were mostly multiple-choice. He's definitely my favourite prof this semester.
Professor simon's lectures are very engaging and lots of funny examples were used to elaborate concepts. Our corse started with a picture of puppy and ended with a picture of a kitty. It is sooooo touching when he said "once my students, always my students" at the end of last lecture. Best prof ever!
Prof Lolliot evidently put lots of care and effort into his lectures, however he gave us too much information during class. Midterms were hard! The average for the first midterm was 65%. He is super caring and accessible outside of class, and TA's were nice and organized as well. Simon was a passionate prof but there was just a lot of material.
This was the best class I took this semester!! He's a wonderful prof, the lectures are very fun and interactive. Highly recommend going to the classes not just for the participation and content but how fun his classes are. This was an early morning class for me but I solely wanted to go because of how he teaches, kept me engaged and interested.
It is not an easy A+ because his midterms and finals are not quite easy. BUT PLEASE JUST GO TO HIS LECTURES! It is so much fun and so much to learn. His teaching is impeccable and the way he cares about his students, it is just heart-melting. PSYC 102 is the exact course you should take if you want to find out how good it is to go to lectures.
Simon was an exceptional prof who had the most engaging and interesting lectures. He made sure that all his students understood the material by providing time for students to ask him questions. Although he is a very fun lecturer, his midterms and finals are HARD as the questions are more applying concepts and very vague.
Simon really lives up to his reputation. His lectures are interesting and actually informative but on top of that, he is hilarious. He clearly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Highly recommend!
I cannot describe in words how good of a prof Simon is. My friends and I looked forward to going to class together because of him, and he was so kind in every interaction I had. WARNING: He does not mess around on midterms/finals. They are HARD. Anyone who takes a class with him knows and loves his humor, I will miss class with Simon and SHMIMON.
I love Simon so much, he is legitimately hilarious, such an incredible lecturer, and just the nicest guy in the world. Yes, his exams are hard, but it's definitely not impossible to do well in his class!! Go to all the classes in person, take notes, do the practice questions in the textbook, and take advantage of the extra HSP credits he offers!
Professor Lolliot is amazing!!! He uses lots of real life examples in his lectures which make things easy to learn. He also genuinely cares about his students and his jokes make class fun.
Simon has interactive classes; while lectures are fun and engaging, 95% of the info can be learned through the online textbook much quicker. The exams are memorization heavy. The lack of text/notes on lecture slides can make it difficult to keep up in lectures, know which information is important, and study for exams. Overall, a good prof.
AWESOME guy. super forgiving and understanding of the uni student struggle, he's really a kind person. i struggled in my class but i'm just not the biggest psyc buff. study the slides, participate in the surveys + research studies he offers, and you'll definitely survive
Amazing professor, was very interactive with the class and extremely understanding towards students. Keeping up on notes before exams is a must, the exams are extremely memory based. Always participate in the in-class participation portions as you are marked for participation. Overall a great class and terrific professor!
Simon is incredible! He is such as entertaining lecturer and has so much enthusiasm. It was such a pleasure to be in his class. I'm sad he took my second term off or I would have taken him for 102. Absolutely delightful person and professor! Can't recommend him enough!
Amazing lectures, actually changed my life and helped me find joy in learning (/srs). The exams were not as difficult as some make it out to be. He is so lovely to have as a Prof. Very engaging lectures. Thank you Prof. Lolliot, I hope to take more classes with you in the future! You are such an awesome prof.
Simon made the class engaging, encouraging questions and never making a student feel dumb for what they asked. He has a voice that is VERY easy to listen to, and always explains concepts in as many ways as he can for maximum clarity. His exams are heavy on application, but not difficult if you understand the material (which he makes easy to do).
Simon is amazing!!! His classes are so interesting and have the magic to engage everyone in the lecture. His midterms and final was ok as long as you memorize the important contents from the lecture. He is really respectful to students and extremely patient when answering questions. Absolutely take his class!
wow, Simon was the BEST professor I have EVER had!! He was funny, made the whole lecture hall super engaged, and there were about 300 of us. He explained everything very well, and made sure to answer your questions thoroughly so that you fully understood each concept. Seriously the best dude, and was always in such a bright and positive attitude!
Best professor so far. Really great lectures and teaching/talking style, being very patient when answering questions during office hours. However, he has really tough exams, maybe it is because of the grading policies, but it was an awesome experience. it is a pity that he isn't teaching upper-level classes
Loved Simon he is m fav prof fr
Maybe my favourite prof that I've had! Simon is the best lecturer and makes the material so simple to understand. We had two midterms, a paper/podcast assignment (either alone or with a partner), and a final. He loved in class demonstration/games. The textbook is free (which personally I didn't read much of and still got a high A...)
He just teaches so well... his classes are super interesting which makes the class feel like you actually want to be there.
Awesome prof
Simon is a great prof. He is kind and fair. His exams are not as challenging as everyone says. You definitely need to study for them, but if you go over all your notes, and are able to answer all of the learning outcomes they are very fair, and its more than possible to do pretty well.
Simon Schmimon is the best prof I have ever had. He is so funny, engaging and reasonable with his marking. He also uses an online textbook that we don't need to pay for. Simon is just so considerate, and AWESOME. I have all the best things to say :)
Buddy is a goat. By far the most caring and engaging professor I've had. Tough tests but it's not so bad because he teaches the material very well. Sometimes I think he's too nice because he keeps answering the pointless questions asked by the suck ups at the front of the class but whatever the man can teach well.
Good guy if you come to class.
He is the kindest professor and even the kindest people I have met. I am an international student and my spoken English is not that fluent. However, every time I asked him questions, he always listened to me carefully and patiently and gave me a lot of encouragement. I haven't taken any psychology before but now I fall in love with psychology!
Best Psych Prof.
Amazing professor and super understanding. He's really funny and deserves all the praise from the effor the puts into his lectures. Although I think I'm going to get around 78-80s range for the course, that's just me. He is the reason why I think psychology can be fun. To anyone who has him, although the course has a lot of memorization, he's good.
Simon is an incredible professor. He is extremely rare in the way that he clearly cares for his students and their success. I am so sad this semester is over because I don't think any professor will be as great as Simon. He is also accommodating. The exams are tough, but he puts in a lot of effort to make students feel comfortable, safe and heard.
Simon is amazing! He is one of the most caring profs I've met. His lectures are very engaging and you can tell he puts in a lot of effort for his students.
Prof Simon is honestly such a sweet person. You can really tell he cares about all his students and just wants us to do well. He makes each lecture engaging and interesting, you can truly see his passion for psychology and it really makes me want to pursue psych even more.
Best prof i've ever had, he's the goat.
I want him to be my dad
One of the best professors I've ever seen in my entire life. Simon is charming, caring, funny, and very reasonable. His PSYC 101 course included video recordings of lectures, optional readings from only one FREE textbook (95%+ of all material were covered in the lectures), and many, many office hours were hosted outside of class. 10/10 course.
Simon's an amazing educator. You'll want to go to lecture! Engaging lectures, textbook is free. Gave extensions when majority of students were struggling. Listens to feedback. Simple slides with adequate info, but check out the textbook. Makes his own demonstrations, and does Menti quizzes for participation grade. Midterms and final were fair.
Simon is an amazing lecturer - he works hard on his slides, is prepared to answer questions, and makes every class engaging and fun! He offers extra office hours that he conducts himself before the midterms and the final. Overall, Simon is a cool professor who is very attentive to students. I would recommend 100%. Class is a GPA booster too!
Schmimon is a legend and you should absolutely take his class. His lectures are some of the most engaging I've ever had and he always takes time to discuss things one on one if you didn't understand a concept or want to ask questions. You can tell he truly loves teaching and cares about each and every one of his students. 6/5 if I could:)
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOLLIOT!
Best professor I ever had. This was my one elective and it was my favorite class. Go to class for a good time, and make sure to read over the lecture slides a few times before exams. My friends struggled with this course but I found it very easy. If you naturally have a good memory, this class is perfect for you.
Doctor Lolliot is such a wholesome and amazing prof. His lectures were full of passion, even those that he said were on the drier side content-wise, and he never failed to make our class engaged and interested! Ensure to study the slides from front to back, as all of his tests have 100% of that info as fair game. Overall, incredible prof!
Dr. Lolliot was an amazing prof. His tests can be tricky, and he often uses weird wording, but they are derived straight from his lectures. This class is very easy to succeed in, you just have to be interested in the material, attend lectures, and I suggest doing the pre-readings. He is a great lecturer and kept me engaged the whole time.
Simon was an absolutely amazing teacher. He always added in humour to his lectures which kept me paying attention at all times :) The tests weren't easy, and sometimes had tricky wording, but it was always stuff that he'd gone over in class. Highly suggest doing the pre-reading!!! He's very helpful if you email or go see him outside of class.
Schmimon is an amazing lecturer who genuinely cares about his students and makes every class worth attending. He teaches in a virtual format with loads of demonstrations and many examples. He is a legend and I would 100% recommend students take his course:) We love you Schminon
Very entertaining, interactive lectures, better than any other prof I've had my first year. He will keep you interested in all classes and will understand students' problems.
best prof
You will not get a better prof, don't hesitate.
SIMON IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!! His class was the highlight of my semester. It was the only class I kept up with when I was unmotivated. Simon makes everything interesting. He could do a lecture on the most boring thing ever and I'd love it. He takes time to answer individual questions during and after class and always makes you feel supported.
Readings not at all necessary, testable content is based completely on lecture slides. Extremely engaging lectures and Simon went above and beyond to make course context clear!
Definitely recommend taking Psych 101 with Simon! Textbook readings barely necessary, as information was covered thoroughly in the lectures. Also, not a redundant professor, because he makes the material interesting and memorable (eg. live demonstrations, humor). Beware, sometimes slides are a little disorganized, and some info is skimmed.
Such a nice, funny professor, who definitely grades fairly. I struggled a bit with his tests, but I think that was more on my poor studying habits. He cares about all of his students!
BEST PROF.
Amazing prof! So caring of all his students. Knows so many of our names in a giant lecture hall
Hands down the best kind of professor you can have for the course, my friends and I regularly text each other about how we miss him in melancholy. He makes the course material fun and cares about his students. You do need to be good at organizing yourself because there are no weekly check-ins and he does record class, but try not to skip.
Absolutely incredible, cannot recommend him enough.
I had Simon for PSYC 101 and 102, and he is by far the best professor I have had since starting UBC. Both classes had optional assignments, but you are able to reweight them to midterms and finals. Super interesting and lectures are recorded. Very accessible outside of class and actually cares about the wellbeing of his students.
best psych teacher ever
Lolliot is the best prof ever!! He goes over all the readings in class so you don't actually have to do them. He makes himself available and adds extra office hours before every exam. Most engaging lectures ever. He even dressed as a dinosaur for halloween. Also just a great person who genuinely cares. Everyone loves Schmimon!
Super clear lectures. Easy to reach for help outside of class! He genuinely cares about every one of his students. He creates a positive atmosphere. If you are reading this... TAKE HIS CLASS!!
as a first year, very intimidating prof and heavy heavy lectures, do not take this prof!!!
Simon is definitely one of the best profs that I have ever had and will probably ever have. He always goes out of his way to keep the class engaged. I'm a science student and took PSYC 101 as an elective and his class made me very passionate about psychology. I strongly recommended you take his class.
He was just wonderful and so hilarious. I didn't even mind that the material was challenging, I would gladly take another course with him.
Dr. Lolliot is a good professor who is proficient in teaching 'Intergroup Conflict.' I found the actual content behind this class to be super exciting. Lectures had an unconventional structure (little information on slides, taking most notes on what was being verbally said), which made it hard to know what was expected to be known about contact.
Love you Simon!
Dr Simon is the most caring passionate professor I have ever met and makes even the most boring subject material interesting. He somehow remembers every student's name, even if you have never interacted with him directly, and is very accommodating to everything. Records lectures, and responds to emails quickly! Take the class, even just for him!
SUCH A GOOD PROF! Simon is genuinely so funny, I did't even care as much that there was so much material because I actually enjoyed the lectures lol. He explains difficult concepts in a way that is easy to understand, and you can tell how much he genuinely cares for his students. If you're able to get into his class def do it
Simon is one of the best professors I have had. He is such an enthusiastic and engaging professor. He clearly cares about his students a lot. His tests can be tricky, but I learned what kind of exams to expect. He makes it easy to communicate outside of class. I cannot recommend taking a course with him enough. Absolute delight of a human being.
Wonderful, caring, funny man. You can tell he cares a lot about what he does. Insane exams though. Would take class with him again anyway.
Took PSYC 101 with him in the first semester last year. Amazing prof, I felt like I really understood the material. Really liked that he included LOs at the beginning of all his lectures, that made studying a lot better. In general, the exams are harder than the in-class material so it's helpful to read the textbook (which is optional).
HE WAS SO SILLY !!! Bro was goin through it when I took his class but still poured all his effort into teaching, and the it was one of the best classes I've ever taken. TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS
Trust the reviews. This man is brilliant. Even though I just barely managed to scrape by with a D (I was having as rough a semester as he was), I'd take the course again in a heartbeat. The only class I've seen where the turnout stays the same all semester. If UBC had a 'How to be a Great Lecturer' course for its other profs, Simon would teach it.
His lectures are always fun and engaging, even through heavy topics. He is very caring and willing to listen and learn about his students and works towards improving his already amazing lectures. I will admit that his exams can be difficult, but he is very clear on what you need to know. Would immediately register if he's teaching the course.
You'll leave this class with a good grade provided that you at least look at your notes and read over tests carefully (he's fair but the wording can be tricky). He tries his best to be thorough and make things accessible. Also free textbook!!! Take the class with him, he's one of the best profs at UBC
Super funny and caring prof, promotes mental health and teaches in a way that makes the material more engaging and easy to understand. Records and live streams all his lectures in case you can't make it to class, and you can get by without doing the readings although they do help. Midterms and final relatively easy.
i only watched recorded lectures at 2x speed. very organized lectures and slides. tells you exactly what u should and shouldnt study + whats in the textbook vs not. workload is very minimal. amazing. i wish i had him for every course i take.
lolliot is the best
amazing porf, i took him for both psyc 101 and 102 and he made the content super easy to learn. no need to buy any textbooks cause he gives us links to the material
I MISS SIMON! I didn't even realize he knows my name by the end of the term haha
Simon was such a great prof. He was easy to talk to and available in and outside class. His exams were much more lecture heavy than textbook. It was 90% lectures
The goat, had him in first year and literally every other day in classes I say to myself "I wish Simon was teaching this"
fave prof everrrrr!!!! makes lectures fun and engaging + slides are very informative. heard people say his exams are difficult but literally just study and they aren't bad at all. he also posts practice exams that are very similar to the questions on the actual exam. such a passionate prof and cares sm about his students and their learning
lecture heavy
Really love he's teaching style
Very good prof who actually cares about his students with a manageable course load and tests.
Actually the nicest prof that ive had at UBC
Truly enjoyed the class, wish I could find another course to take
This guy has great energy, but turns into a heartless creature when it comes to making these exams. He will promise that certain topics will be on the exam, yet you will never see them again and instead will be tested with extremely long scenarios that can have varying answers. Good luck!
Makes class very fun and interesting. Very accommodating and truly cares about each student. Interactive class with funny examples and demonstrations.
My favourite prof for sure. Makes lecturers interesting and is always open to questions
Simon is an incredible professor and a very caring individual. Psych (especially first year) can be kind of a beast because it's so broad and such a huge chunk of information, but he makes it really digestible, and his lectures are funny. He answers every single student's questions (stupid or not) thoughtfully and to his best ability.
DON'T TAKE HIS COURSES! I thought the class would be straightforward as recommended by so many people. But Simon's PPT are too wordless! You have to spend a lot time to catch up what he want to cover, and his ideas are unclear taught in class. EXPECT to spend a lot time to review! and his exams are so HARD!!! def a GPA killer
The midterms and finals are way too hard
hard class
Textbook used is free! Haven't taken final yet (it's tmr as of writing this), midterms were difficult. Simon is an absolutely amazing professor!! Lectures are super engaging, only class I never skipped because of that, no matter how tired I was.
His class was super fun and enjoyable. He is super energetic and entertaining in lectures, and makes you interested in what you're learning. However, the tests are quite hard.
Super enjoyable class and lectures. The professor was really energetic and entertaining, so it made the learning really enjoyable and interesting. However, the tests were quite difficult overall.
The best professor I've had for sure. Lectures are engaging and fun. Super funny dude. Definitely choose him if you have the option.
The goat, always looked forward to his lectures.
Simon is the goat I love him!!!! such an awesome dude but his tests are super hard and the course has a lot of content. He wants the average to be higher but he still makes test heavy. I really love him as a prof and he's super accommodating/engaging
Simon is def the best prof I had this term! He's a great prof and keeps lectures engaging. However, midterms are extremely difficult. Not necessarily his fault due to the sheer amount of content in the course, but definitely study hard. He's so caring and wants the best for every student!
Simon was a great teacher. Lectures were very engaging and fun to be in, but be prepared for the hell of those midterms/exams.
Simon is a great professor. Like any class, if you put in the work to understand the key concepts and keep up with the material, you'll do fine. You just know he really is passionate about what he teaches, and is replicated in his dedication to his profession. One of the best professors I've had. Would absolutely recommend taking a course with him.
Tough prof fr icl, very cool guy and was very engaging. Loved his lectures and really tried his best to make it entertaining, would take again. lowk tho some exams were a lil tough bc of concepts. class average was like 65%
Loved having Simon! Took his course for my first term first year and he's so genuine about his love for teaching that it made me never want to skip his classes, which were all really interesting because he makes the content engaging with examples and personal experiences. The exams are difficult, but he clearly cares about his students' learning.
Simon Lolliot is an incredibly caring prof who tries to make his lecture as fun and engaging as possible. He has recorded lectures and has many activities during class to make it more enjoyable. His exams are a little tough because they are heavily based on application questions but are do-able.
Super kind & caring prof. Exams are so hard tho as it's literally only application-based.
amazing fun prof, really teaches you practically
Really nice and funny dude. Lectures are interactive and are also recorded along with the slides. Passionate about his subject and wants to teach well. Grading is brutal but not ridiculous. Overall nice guy that is very helpful; use his office hours.
