Prof. Tang was a really nice teacher. He was ALWAYS willing to help and held study lectures in preparation of almost every test, either in class or in the chem tutoring center. He gives extra credit randomly and there are class quizzes which aren't worth much but they do matter and help as a review of lecture. Not super easy but deff not hard.
His class is interesting and he's really helpful. We finish most of the labs early. He assigns homework problems in the book but he does not grade them. You should do them anyway if you want to do well on the exams. We have a quiz every week there is not a test but they are pretty easy. 4 exams, removes lowest one.
His explanations confused me. He can over explain things and then it turns a subject i understood into confusion. overall a decent professor. He goes out of his way for his students.
I HATED CHM until i took prof. Tang, I worked hard for my grade, but he made chem interesting and exciting with the way he does his power points and teaches, so i could retain a lot more. Honest to god, i look at my intro to chm notes more than my chm 1 stuff(currently taking) You'll have to work for your grade, but he is truly amazing. THX PROF T!
One of my favorite Professors! The material is not easy and lectures are long but he sets you up to succeed. He gives take home quizzes to keep you on track and HW is optional. He drops a test grade and will only take about 10 of the quiz grades and drop the lower ones. Always available an hour before class for extra help.
He makes a difficult subject seem easy. He always answers any questions you might have and he is there cause he cares not just to get paid.
Professor Tang is a great professor, I recommend to take him! I took him in 3 classes now and I love his method of teaching. He explains very well and gives extra credit. Its Chemistry so obviously its hard but he makes it a smooth learning experience.
Professor Tang made Chemistry very enjoyable. I took him in an accelerated summer course and he made the rapid class pace as painless as possible. I definitely still had to work hard for my grade, but he easily answered any questions I had and was able to help when I needed it. Put in the work, and you'll love Chemistry with Prof Tang
Professor Tang is by far the best professor i have ever taken! I had him all the way from Chem1 - Orgo1 and will take him in Orgo2 for sure. He's very helpful and explains things great. He is always there to help and answer your questions. Also, he is very organized, sympathetic and funny. Honestly, best Chemistry teacher at Valencia.
Dr. Tang is amazing. Im glad someone told me to take him. He gives optional homework but I recommend you do it because it will help you understand the material and pass his tests. He is a fair grader but this is not an easy A. Hes always willing to answer any questions you have and you will leave with a strong knowledge of Chem 2. Take him!
He makes chemistry interesting and less confusing. He cares about his students and will help you if you ask. I would definitely recommend him to others!
Professor Tang is by far the best chemistry Professor at Valencia! He genuinely cares for your success in the class, but honestly - establish that relationship with him! Had so much learning chemistry this semester, definitely choosing him again for Orgo 1.
This professor makes chemistry hard, and his teaching style is very confusing.
He is definitely the best chem professor ever, he lectures pretty well, is funny, and really wants his students to pass!
Dr Tang is the best chemistry professor in Valencia. Very respectful and caring. Even though Dr Tang does everything possible for his students to succeed, Orgo is not an easy class, you need to study and practice a lot from the first lecture. I also took him for general chemistry. And I will take him for Orgo 2. I definitely recommend to take him!
He didnt explain things clear throughout the semester and his handwriting was not good. As a result it was difficult to follow his lectures.
Dr Tang is always willing to help. He answers every single question. He is very nice and caring. If u see him, take him, because most of the time there are no more seats for his classes next day after the registration is opened. I feel like all bad reviews are from the same person that failed the class lol
Tang is not a good Chem professor he is very intimidating at first and gives difficult questions on tests. You can do the homework and study but in the tests he gives you questions that are twice as difficult than in the book.
Dr. Tang is an amazing profesor and person. He is very caring and he wants you to succeed. Ive taken him for Chm 2 and Orgo. I worked hard in his class because its not easy material. Make sure to read and dedicate time to this class. I will be taking him for Orgo 2 as well.
This professor is amazing! If you can do the questions at the end of the chapters in the book, youll do well on the exams. He doesnt put things on the test that would be out of the realm of the PowerPoint slides. Plus he offers 10-15 extra points on the exam. I am extremely weak in chemistry and my overall grade in the class was an A.
To the "Poor" Anything with Science is not going to be easy. You will need to work for your grade. I have taken him before, he's tough, but thats how he pushes you to work harder. Hes not going to sugarcoat everything for you. How do you expect yourself to make it into field if you think its gonna be easy . Think Chem is hard, then switch majors.
If you want a professor who only wants to trick people on tests and gives you a lot of information with not a good explanation take him.
This professor was confusing on lectures, he read the PowerPoints and didnt give good examples. Dont recommend him.
This professor may be good for chem1 but chem2 with him has been miserable. He lectures heavily on concepts but fails to give examples with actual numbers. Be prepared to teach yourself.
I've had Professor Tang for two semesters now, and he has been excellent in both. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is unwise to skip. There are two extra credit opportunities, weekly "pop" quizzes (they're not a surprise, just do homework and you'll be fine), and exams (they're fair). Work hard and you'll see results, I highly recommended him.
Best chem teacher. took him for orgo 1 &2. Test have extra credit, drops ur lowest test grade, grades very leniently. Organic is Def. not easy, if u do ur work and try youll get an A. In both Orgo 1&2 i got a 95+. Students that average Cs on test can still get As. If u want the best Chem teacher, take Mr. tang. Ive been at Val. for 3 yrs. trust me
I dreaded orgo, but Dr. Tang made it totally doable. Hes so nice and wants students to do well. Pretty funny guy. Hes not intimidating at all and kindly answers all questions. Gives plenty of EC and grade boosts. Extra help is offered by past students of his. Obv its a tough subject and u must work for your grade, but an A is totally accessible.
Tang is an exceptional chemistry professor. Clear lecturing, generous grading and plenty of extra opportunities and exercises to learn and practice the material. While organic chemistry is a difficult subject with a steep learning curve and dedication required, Tang is a professor who rewards students willing to go the distance.
Orgo was the toughest class I have ever taken. I love the fact that he provides partial credit on exams. He drops one exam grade. He can give an unlimited amount of quizzes, but only grades 6 of them, so you want him to provide quizzes. This semester, I had 7 quizzes and one was dropped. I am taking him for orgo 2. Great professor!
A+'s in GenChem1&2. Extra credit built into each exam. Gives recommended homework to practice but not to turn in for a grade. You WANT his quizzes for the easy points. GenChem1 drops lowest exam. Genchem2 the final is another chapter exam(easy). Responds almost instantly to messages. Great office hours for help. Funny and easy goingfun lectures.
If you are taking this professor for chemistry you are wasting your time. He is very arrogant and doesnt really help at all. You have to self tech yourself and doesnt care about your success.
Very grateful to have had this professor! O-chem is not easy but his grading criteria is very clear and the extra credit along the way can really be a life saver. As long as you try its hard to fail. I don't think I ever used the textbook or any resources besides youtube videos and his power-points and I still did well.
Be prepared to teach yourself. Does not include actual numbers in examples, just uses letters and sometimes stick figures which of course do not help when the exam comes around. Gives you a formula sheet for exams but never actually teaches you how to use them.
Unnecessarily hard, gives no direction on what to expect on exams. 3 chapters worth of exam material is at least 35 sections in the textbook, knowing 35 sections in a few weeks time without being able to narrow down topics is very hard. Nice guy but acts like we're orgo chemists already. Grades lab reports like its a PhD thesis. Unrealistic prof
Chem1-Orgo1(willtakefororgo2) All A's so far. No homework. Lab assignments are important for points. Quizzes are easy and raise your grade and drops one. Usually drops one of his lecture exams. Extra credit built into each exam instead of curving. Tells you exactly what to study before each exam. It's chem so work hard. Funny af.
Great professor! I failed this class with a different professor. Chemistry, like any other science class, requires a lot of work. However, Dr. Tang gives a lot of opportunities to get a good grade. Labs are easy and are worth a lot. If you do the suggested problems for each chapter, the test won't be that hard. 2 chapters per test. LOVE DR. TANG!
Awesome guy and super nice but alas, a terrible professor at least for chem2. Makes sure you understand concepts but never teaches you the math portion of chem which is what the exams are all about. I withdrew and took with a different professor who is a rude guy but amazing at teaching. Lol you win some, you lose some.
online due to COVID- VERY unorganized. His lectures leave you confused so don't bother going. DO listen to voiced slides. Practice problems he recommends in the txtbk are nothing like the exams. He was kind enough to give us extra credit when we asked though. But avoid him if you can.
I took his course in 6 weeks during covid so it was online & it was very difficult. His lectures are very monotoned, can be confusing and long so at the end I still didnt understand. He recommends doing lots of practice problems for the chapter to help you with exams but they dont. I passed this class but feel like I learned nothing.
It's a difficult course so definitely have to study/prepare, but Dr. Tang is the best! His exams cover what he teaches/powerpoints, you won't be taken by surprise. He is extremely approachable and understanding. If you don't understand something and ask, he will find an analogy to help break it down if he has to (it works). An A is totally doable.
Im not even done with this class yet, but I can attest that this teacher really cares and hes really nice. Very accessible in webcourses, lenient and flexible with your grade. Also partial credit! Yay. Drops one exam, provides homework but its quick and easy. I wish I took him for Gen Chem. Will be taking him for Orgo II! Great experience.
Dr. Tang was the best chem professor I've had, he really helped my understanding of chemistry go beyond what I thought I could've comprehended and really prepared me for orgo 2 with Crumpler. He provides lots of examples for better understanding and gives lots of practice problems that are exactly like the exams dont hesitate to take him if you can
I would definitely recommend Dr. Tang! He is very kind, always wants to help us understand the content of the questions we asked, always asks us if we understood the content and is always willing to help. He cares about his students and wants us to succeed! This is a challenging course but Dr. Tang makes it easier and interesting.
He's a great professor but you DEFINITELY need to read the chapters in addition to his presentations to get an A. He's nice and knows his chemistry, he's just not the greatest at relaying material. His presentations will be unorganized and some of his tangents go on for awhile and are confusing. I read the book then watched his recorded videos

I've taken Prof. Tang for 3 Chem classes now. Very reasonable grading policies with extra cred. to help hardworking students. Tests all have extra points too. Lectures are interesting and effective. He's the best chem professor I've ever had, and I would definitely reccomend signing up for any of his classes.
Med programs don't want mediocre, they want the best. Dr. Tang will make you work HARD to become the best and he spent time every week helping me to understand concepts and material. I earned my A+. I would not recommend taking this professor if you want a handout. Do the practice problems, ask questions, go to office hours or gtfo.
Its Orgo 2, so its not easy, but Professor Tang was amazing! Super nice, cares about your grade, and understands that this is a hard class. Attending meetings is mandatory and go to all the workshops with the TA. I learned barely anything in chem 1 (other prof), and this was a way dif. story. I wish I would have taken him for all of my chem classes
Professor Tang is far most the best professor for Orgo 2 I've seen, he is pretty fair with the amount of work he gives. Orgo is a hard class not matter where or who you take it with, but he easies it more so you can understand it be less frustrated with it. I would highly recommend to take him, but you have to put the work as well.
Prob the most difficult class I've taken. I can tell the majority of the reviews are fake because I was in a gc w/ most of the class and they all ended w/ low C's. Honorlock is required for exams and worth 70% of ur grade. Lectures are useless and 3 hours wasted during the week. Find another prof if possible, but study chapter problems otherwise.
Exam's are honor lock, homework isn't too bad quizzes are okay but the exam's are truly your biggest downfall. He never truly explains the problems his favorite response is "in a sense" which explains nothing at all. Not clear on concepts. Very nice guy ,just very terrible teaching style. And no study guides so just don't take him.
I am going to be honest, he uses Honorlock for the exams. If you lack in testing skills, I do not think this class is for you, exams are going to be your biggest blow. His lectures are somewhat a waste of time, his voiced powerpoints are better. If you want to pass please work for it hard!
Professor Tang is great! I took him for several chemistry classes, and he taught me a lot, made all my chemistry classes fun. The class is hard and he knows it, but he'll help you get enough points to pass you. His lectures are fun and he won't give up until you understand everything. Best chem professor ever, a real gem. 10/10 would take again.
I 10000000/10 would recommend this course and this professor. Professor Tang is the best, that really how I can describe him. He goes out of his way to help you if you ask. He also provides us with better access to communicate with him aside from email. hw and quizzes can be taken multiple times which is so great!
Very mediocre professor. He explains things poorly, and doesnt give straight answers to legitimate questions. The honorlock exams dont cover any of the material discussed in class, and there are no study guides. I would definitely take the course with another professor, unless you want to teach yourself.
Yook him for Orgo 2 face to face. Super accessible after class. What better than studying and having a question, and just with a text get an answer. He is super flexible with labs, and other stuff, but he TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT BEING A STUDENT IS. Exam 1 is kinda Orgo 1, but the rest of the other exams easy with study. Drops one exam. EASY.
Best chem prof I have ever had.
I was able to get through orgo 1 with an A and thought that this class would be difficult but not impossible. I never was able to score above a 75 on any of the test. The guy is nice enough but cannot teach.
Professor Tang is amazing and really caring. He lectures veery well and provides many resources for you to succeed. HIGHLY recommend getting organic chem as second language, don't know how I would've passed without it. Obviously Ochem is difficult, but he gives lots of partial credit and quizzes are open note. There are lots of open answer on exam.
Tang is the best professor I have ever taken. I was always told ORGO would be horrible but Tang made it manageable. He is lenient, and understanding. There are 4 exams and 1 final, and he offers extra credit opportunities. If you have an ACE coach, GO to the workshops, review the PowerPoints, and you'll get at least a B if not an A on the exams.
Dr. Tang is amazing, he gives clear expectations prior to each exam, lab reports are very simple and concise, labs are actually fun and simple. His lectures are amazing and brings a positive and funny attitude towards them. Definitely take him if with a small class. Final is NOT acs so that's a big plus.
Best chem professor I have had. He gave a ton of extra credi opportunities on exams and he really cared for each and every student. He really wanted to make sure that every student had the chance to pass the class. Practice problems are super helpful for exams, he will ask questions that have specific details from powerpoints on exams so know those
Tang was one of the best professors I ever had. Extremely caring and always available for questions. Not much homework, but doing his suggested problems was extremely important. As long as you practice and get all the material he recommends you should be okay. Ask lots of questions in class and at office hours!!! Lots of big EC opportunities.
I took both Organic Chem 1 & 2 with Professor Tang. He was extremely kind and really did care about his student's success. This is Organic Chemistry, it is a difficult class, but if you're willing to work then he will work with you, and you will be able to succeed.
10/10. TOUGH class, but he's an master expert in Organic Chem. Lots of resources to succeed (class tutor, class group chat, recommends other helpful books). Extra credit avaliable on each exam, and some additional as needed. Taking Dr. Tang again for Orgo 2.
Probably the best science professor I have with a lot of resources to help outside of class, the grading is fair if not too generous, and he gives partial credit on questions you answer incorrectly. Everything in the exams is 100% in the powerpoints and review material.
Dr Tang was by far the best science teacher I have had so far in my STEM career. This class is hard in general and that should be taken into consideration, lots of studying and lots of progression through the class. But with the extra tools given such as a tutor, recorded lectures, extra credit opportunities he really is here to help you!
Orgo 2 with this professor was tough. Unlike Orgo 1, it's much harder. Exams are a real challenge, but doing well on other assignments and extra credit can help. Practice is key. Despite my struggles, I passed with effort, though not with the grade I wanted. At least the professor was great and lenient by allowing a take home quiz/only last exam.
If you are looking for a great Orgo 1&2 professor, look no further. Dr. Tang is by far one of the best professors I have ever had in my college career. Orgo is no easy subject, but Dr. Tang truly cares for his students and cares about your success. Tests are worth 45%, do the labs and hw! Such easy points. He is also is EXTREMELY accessible.
If you need to take Organic Chemistry, Dr. Tang is the best choice in Orlando. The class will be difficult, but Dr. Tang makes it as easy as possible to do well. Online homework software, but it carries over from Orgo 1 so you don't have to pay twice. Extra credit based on attendance. Often other options for credit too. Drops lowest everything.
You have to be committed to lots of studying and labs however he's always willing to help if you ask.
Professor Tang was very nice and is willing to work with you if your willing to work for it.
I took Dr. Tang for a 6-week summer course. He's a chem expert and very nice, always willing to help. The material is tough, but he's a fair grader and teaches what's essential for tests. Lowest test score is replaced with your highest, no quizzes, homework is optional, and bonus points for attendance. Overall, no complaints!
Dr. Tang cares about the success of his students. He gives partial credit on exams, quizzes; which really helps. Organic Chemistry requires alot of time in and out of class. From lectures to ACE workshops to on-campus tutoring, one can be successful in the course. I really enjoyed having Dr. Tang as my professor; he is very personable.
Dr. Tang is gonna be the best you get in for Orgo 1, I could've finished with an A but I didn't put in as much work as I should have, he drops lowest everything, tells you what will be on exams, has extra credit both on exams and for attendance. You need to put in work through consistent practice problems, and if you do, you'll have an A
Honestly he's alright, I don't understand the hype. Very exam heavy, so STUDY HARD. He's teaching style is all over the place. Provides power points but just reads off of it. I learned way more outside of class (tutoring) and on my own. Also a harsh grader with labs and quizzes. A hard class in general so try your best at everything.
Very sweet chem Prof. If you can take him, take him.
Dr. Tang's teaching is disorganized and hard to follow leaving you to teach yourself. Exams are HARD half written questions & multiple choice. No study guide is provided.Labs are ok, and group work is graded inconsistently. Expect unfair deductions. Often makes condescending remarks directly to you and laughs it off. These good reviews areFake!
Honestly he's a cool guy. Personality wise, chill. However, his teaching was not effective for me. He is also picky when it comes to grading so be aware of deduction of points with quizzes and lab reports. Lecture is long and boring so info is hard to retain if you aren't focused. I learned way more outside of class and on my own.
His teaching is the type of teaching that only a PhD professor can understand. He doesn't explain new concepts but rather jumps ahead because he already understands it. His powerpoints have wayyy too much info. No study guide. Exams are dog water, does not dumb down any teaching. Basically is teaching 3 students while the rest of the class stares.
Take someone else. Not much guidance on what to study, unnecessarily long lectures (not his fault), random quizzes, does not lecture the greatest, hard exams. Funny and chill guy but I genuinely learn nothing from this class, extra credit for attendance at least and exams are graded out of 110 and is 100 on canvas, so 10 pts extra credit on exam
Having taken 4 different chem professors throughout college Dr. Tang is easily the best. He is very clear about what he expects you to know for each exam and is one of the most lenient when it comes to grading so long as you make an effort and show some understanding of the concepts. It is a hard class but I would not take it elsewhere.
Best professor for chemistry. I wish I had taken him sooner. Organic chemistr
Best organic chemistry teacher for Valencia. The class is hard because of the content but he explains it as best as possible and offers many resources. Exams are difficult, but I feel that's expected. Labs are fun and the lectures make sense. He answers every question and is very lenient on a lot as long as you speak with him. Just pay attention.
Nice guy, I'm sure he means well. If you're a fast learner take him, if not then save yourself the time! Very picky grader with labs, quizzes, exams, etc. He doesn't explain things well enough during lecture. I always had to teach myself, leaving class confused. He has some bad ratings on here, believe them pls. They aren't lying lol.
Tang made the class interesting and fun, at least for me. He always will answer your question with compassion and patience. Organic chemistry is not an easy class and statistics prove that. Coming from a very weak chemistry 10+ years ago I managed to get the concepts in a reasonable way. If you are looking for compassionate professor, go for him.
Had Dr. Tang for my Orgo I and II. This class was more difficult than Orgo I but could not see myself with any other professor. He is very caring and made the class interesting and fun. If you apply yourself well enough, you will be good. He's compassionate and cares about you grasping the concepts. Very accessible and understanding.
Organic chemistry in general is very difficult; he is very detailed and specific in lab reports, and his tests are also difficult. I'm glad that he tried his best to help people pass this class by making the quizzes always in a group, having 1 quiz that was a take-home quiz, and one exam that was in a group. Thanks to him, I passed his class!
I took Dr. Tang for both orgos. Orgo itself could be very challenging. If you do not put time and effort outside of the class, you'll have a bad grade. I would have study groups, watch videos, go to tutoring, and more. Dr. Tang will help you as long as he sees that you are trying. Do not blame the prof when you did not study enough. Recommended!
Professor Tang was a really great instructor, he made learning such a difficult subject fun and overall enjoyable. He has a great personality and you can tell he loves teaching! He provided supplementary learning tools that really helped understanding as well. I look forward to taking his class next semester!
