Very helpful...Wants everyone in her class to pass.

Too easy. Doesn't know what she is talking about
This woman is the worst professor I have ever had. At the same time, she is also the easiest. She practically makes it impossible for you to do poorly in her class. Nevertheless, if you want to learn anything, take someone else.
Easiest Econ teacher in the school...Her voice will kill you though
She is very nice. Her tests are very basic and this class is not hard, she is the easiest econ teacher.
she lost me from day one. i have a better than respectable gpa and i found her to go over my head. good looking women if you like spice.
her whole class is power points which makes it eay to follow but she her tests require a lot of studying. not a bad class but you need to put forth effort in studying.
Very nice
The worst teacher I have ever had, her final is impossible and she lied and said there would be 10 multiple choice obvious definitions and there wasnt. DONT EVEN THINK OF TAKING HER!!
What did she say? Bad accent. VERY nice woman, but she is VERY hard. Only has three tests, but they are impossible unless you are an "economics buff"
It was a very easy class...there was no homework, and the tests were easy as long as you looked over her powerpoint slides. The test questions all came from the notes she gave. And she was always very helpful. I'd definitely recommend taking her classes.
All i wanted to do was bust out the cocoa butter! Shes a looker, and makes me want to "study" "economics". But seriously, cant understand and hard.
Great teacher. Very clear in her teaching and also very helpful. Made me really enjoy economics.
Dr. Kahai is a very good teacher. She is ALWAYS willing to help. She explains things very well and if youy don't understand she will help you to. Her tests are hard and the final is impossible, but she gives you all the powerpoints so you don't have to takes notes and its really easy to study.
Very very caring proffesor , really wants teh students to learn and is very helpful. DOes have an accent , but i didnt have a problem. There is no homework and teh entire class is on power points that you can print out. The tests are difficcult(not a surprise)good if u really want to learn ECOn.
i thought this was a very easy class kinda. she really only gives 3 tests and she throws one out. i think my test avg was like 98% or something, but for some reason the final was completely different from all the rest of her tests and I only got like a C on it. [still A- in the class]. she knows her stuff, i definitely recommend her
Dr. Kahai makes sure you know all of her material. Listen well, take notes, and you'll catch what will be on the tests. Go to class b/c she takes attendance. I averaged a 98% on all tests, including final. I suggest taking her, just study and you'll be fine. Also, buy the practice workbook and actually do it..very helpful
She really cares about her students.
She was VERY helpful!
accent is a little hard to understand at times but she knows what she is talking about, and as long as you read the material and take notes, the test will be cake. Very willing to help with any problems and a very sweet person.
She is really great. She knows her stuff.
You will learn a lot in this class. Very little homework. The exams are straightforward and she breaks down what will be on them. Wants your opinion in class. She is a fair grader (not easy, but definitely fair.)
great teacher
very good prof
She knows her stuff, tests are hard, but make sure you go the day before because she has GREAT review days.
Fair Grader. Good professor. Sometimes she is reaaaally confusing, but if you can do work well on your own, she is perfect for you. Tests are a bit difficult, but you can get through them.
This teacher is easy, she is very helpful and available when needed for help.
Good Teacher, dont have to go, just be there review days and do the online assignments...they help
Great teacher. Take her class!
good teacher
Shes really nice and helpful, very fair grader and tests aren't too hard especially for econ! If you must take econ take Kahai!! She will teach you there is no such thing as a free lunch and about mangoes.
good one
She is the best professor in the world! She was very helpful for not just school stuff, but for personal stuff. She is also very nice.
The people who wrote these other comments must be high. Yes, she is a good teacher, when she is teaching, which is never. She has extreme add, and when she finally gets to class (shes at least 10 minutes late every day) she talks about how sucessful she is. Very disorganized, and doesn't know how to work Aplia. She is fairly easy though.
Dr. Kahai is a great teacher, she is so helpful with her quality of teaching! Her Aplia gives real world applications of econ to prepare you for the future. She is always available to help students and very fair not to mention easy!
She is a great teacher. Very nice & definitely willing to help her students. Unfortunately, she was a little scatter-brained this past semester & therefore was quite unorganized & late to almost every class. She made up for it, however, by giving take-home exams. I think she was just very business & had a lot on her plate. Definitely recommend her
great at teaching econ
Dr. Kahai does not grade assignments on time. She frequently is not prepared for class, and compensates by making up new assignments in class. These are poorly integrated into the schedule, resulting in several large projects being due at once. She also does not hold to her posted office hours, and misses assignments/class often.
I absolutely love Dr. Kahai! She has been my favorite professor here so far. She is the nicest lady ever and is always willing to help! She even comes in outside of office hours to help students before exams. She may get a little behind on grading but always tries to help her students do well and her tests are extremely fair. LOVE her!
Bad professor. Disorganized, never returns assignments on time, comes to class late.
She was a very helpful teacher. All Microeconomics classes are challenging but she made this class as easy as possible. I would love to have her in the future.
Great teacher! Makes sure students know the material and is always willing to help (even gives phone number and skype name). Cant wait to take her again in the future
She was very hard and unreliable. No one understood what was going on in class and doesn't explain the material well.
She attempts to help and explain in different ways but impossible to make much sense of it. If you're into being self-taught and being fully on your own feel free to take the class
She's a really good professor, very helpful and fair. At times a bit confusing, but if you ask, she'll gladly help out. I HIGHLY recomend her.
She is very unorganized, constantly late for class, and never does what she says she is going to do. But she curves grades a lot and is very nice.
Very hard to understand and very hard to pay attention. Nice person and willing to help
Good economist
Knowledgable
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! By far the hardest class I have taken at the University. Homework every night, which is extremely hard. Class is very boring. I learned more from reading the book than I did from attending class. Aplia assignments online get increasingly harder as the semester goes on, at times I sat down and worked on it for 3 to 4 hours.
I don't understand how this woman has a smiley face. Do NOT reccomend taking this class, only took it to get rid of requirement. Talk about things that have nothing to do with the info we are suppose to be learning and the info we need to learn for the tests we speed through. Loves saying keep up w/ reading but she doesnt help you understand it
She puts all the notes on blackboard but speeds through them during class. I recommend buying a hard copy of the book, you are going to need it. Any econ class is going to be hard. She gives a lot of homework but it helps you learn the material. Take advantage of her office hours and go see her, it makes a difference. Extremely nice person.
She's always late & confused. Haven?t learned much and feel like I'm wasting time & money. I know where I stand in other classes but this one is up in the air due to all the confusion she causes. In the beginning she kept saying nothing was negotiable on the syllabus. However, most things have changed and I can?t tell if it?s for better or worse!
Great Professor! I learned a lot from just listening, asking questions, and getting help during her office hours. She's an amazing professor as well as a person. If you ever have the chance to take Dr. Kahai's class, I would do so. The one thing I would change about her class is the amount of powerpoints she does. Amazing class overall!
She was very helpful and knowledgeable. Clear instructions. Very good person.
Average teacher all around. I have heard there are stronger economic professors on campus so maybe take a look around.
Good class. To get the most out of the class just ask questions during class and visit her office hours. She is really flexible and is willing to help if you are willing to learn. Good econ experience.
Pretty bad teacher. How they pay her is beyond me!
I had her for both EC 201 and EC 202 and I think she's a fair teacher. She is always willing to help you (she'll skype, email, call, etc with you, on top of obviously going to her office.) The extent of which that help she gives you will help you, is questionable. She's not known to be the best teacher. You won't learn too much, but youll do well
Dr. Kahai is very helpful and wants students to succeed. Go to office hours if you don’t understand, it will help clear up any confusion. Pay attention in class, follow along with the readings and study and you will be successful. There is a good amount of homework but it is not overwhelming and allows you to better understand the material
Terrible. She doesn't even understand the principles of economics.
Dr. Kahai is very nice and helpful. I would visit her office hours a lot and she was willing to help me every time. She cares about her students.
.....nice prof
Great professor. Answer her questions, read the textbook, and ask her questions and you will do fine.
She's hard to understand, partly because of her accent and partly because of her inability to explain concepts well. Her tests were mostly all multiple choice, and she almost always made the correct answer nearly identical to a wrong answer. I will admit she does go out of her way to help, but I still wouldn't recommend her to anyone
Nice lady, not too good of a teacher. Goes through material too quickly and not too clearly.
Nice lady, not too hard to understand, uses an application called Aplia that is awful, she is an alright teacher, confusing at times.
AMAZING teacher! Really goes out of the way to help her students. John Carroll needs more Dr. Kahai's!
Great Prof. Really nice.
Helpful teacher....
Her class requires efforts but you will learn a lot... She is hot too
Awful teacher. Doesn't care and her grading system lacks transparency.
Cool teacher. Gives some extra credit. Reasonably easy to understand if you work at it. I consider myself awful at math and the sciences yet got a B- that I was happy with. Don't buy the textbook--she uses a computer program called Aplia (has all assignments for the class) that you have to purchase for $100 or so and it has a free digital textbook.
Her accent is so melodic and great. I hear her recite terms in my head when I study. She's been everywhere and knows lot. Many classes involve 15 minutes or so of stories about the Indian market or conditions in China. She also gives an extra credit point here or there. Don't buy the book--it comes free with the Aplia access code you need for HW.
Very good at teaching economics. Pretty easy to get an A as well. She isn't very organized and occasionally lost our assignments, but she is ultimately a good teacher to take. Tests are usually easy and she sometimes allows corrections.
Really disorganized, lost a lot of assignments. Tests are hard. The aplia assignments are helpful but are assigned irregularly. She's hardly ever available during her office hours. Contacting her with questions is difficult because it usually take a while to hear back from her. If you can teach yourself, this would be a good course.
Dr. Kahai makes promises she can not keep! She'll say she's available for extra help when she is never free. She's disorganized and rude. She talks her self up about how good of an economist she really is, she does no good for her students economic abilitys. Very overwhelmed! Only take her if it's your last option
So disorganized and rude.
She's funny, but doesn't try to be. Class was pretty basic. Powerpoints and online homework. The online homework prepares you for your exams, and if you get an A on the final exam that becomes your final overall grade for the class.
Makes sure everyone understands a concept before moving on. Can be helpful if you ask for help.
Good at explaining stuff
Nice lady, not too good of a teacher. Doesn't care and her grading system lacks transparency. Haven't learned much and feel like I'm wasting time & money. Talks about things that have nothing to do with the info we are suppose to be learning and the info we need to learn for the tests she speed through. wouldn't recommend her to anyone!
So rude! seriously thinking of dropping this class.
terrible! terrible! terrible!
She is such a wonderful professor. You can tell she really cares about her students. She will always give you extra practice if you aren't doing well. While her assessments are tough they are not a surprise, we learned everything she tested us on. Is really helpful at office hours. Loves economics. And would rake again if only she taught 202
She's difficult to understand at times. The whole class is just her lecturing along with a power point and its gets really boring at times. The homework is online and is harder than what you're expected to do on tests. She's nice and always says you can visit office hours.
Boring class! all she do is read power point slides which we can do ourselves!!
Boring!!! Could hardly stay awake. She is confusing and not clear at all. You must avoid her at all costs!!!! Also the tests are hard.
Dr. Kahai was a great teacher. She is very helpful and accommodating if you need extra help. The homework can take a while to do, but she gives you a couple days to complete it and you have three tries on each problem. The tests are tough though even with preparation. I would not recommend skipping class.
She is a decent teacher. Class can get boring because it is just her lecturing from the powerpoint, but she tries to explain the concepts well. She is available to help you when needed, and even was willing to call me one time to help since she could not meet in person. Biggest issue did not know what grade we had in the class.
Very caring teacher. Makes the class hard but cares very much for her students. I would recommend taking her.
The worst! Do not take!!! She always shes will be available for help but never is. Her tests are near impossible and she does not curve. She does not hold any of her promises and is very rude
This lady is one of the worst professors on campus. Do not take.
Dr. Kahai is truly a terrible teacher, avoid at all costs. She makes the material difficult cause she doesn't know who to teach or even engage with students. A ton of homework and the exams are difficult
Lectures every class. Homework is all online. Tests are nearly impossible. Don't take if you do not want an A. Getting a B is manageable but very hard. Must study a ton.
She is bad. Not very helpful outside of class and is very rude when you go to office hours for help. Would recommend not taking her.
She is the best econ teacher . she is knowledgeable and always available to help.
Dr. Kahai is an extremely difficult professor. Her tests are very confusing and the online homework is also a pain. I wish I could say better things about the class because I do like her as a person and it is clear she is passionate about her field. I would not recommend taking her. She offers a C contract to guarantee a C in the class though
Very knowledgeable about economics and a very nice person but would not recommend taking her because she assigns a lot of hard homework and does not always explain lectures well. She is also very disorganized about grading because you will never know your actual grade until the end of the semester.
She is very kind and knowledgeable. Best Professor at jcu.
Although she was a more difficult teacher, she definitely got her point across in a clear way that makes it hard to forget. I learned a lot from her!!
Very nice, uses many examples, and gives a good amount of work. She calls on people a lot so stay focused.
Kahai is a tough teacher and the class is hard but she is very knowledgeable and good at making sure you understand everything. She is also a very reasonable person and cares about students time and schedule. Would definitely recommend.
Dr. Kahai is a very difficult professor, but she may be the smartest one i've ever taken. She definitely knows what shes talking about, but her lectures are very long and full of information which makes them hard to follow. It's one of those classes that's like don't speak unless spoken to. She gives lots of homework but offers a C contract
Avoid at all costs. The worst teacher I have ever had. Assigned 200 pages of textbook reading to complete in two nights. Quiz on first day of class. Horrible communicator - not timely to respond and difficult to understand. She thinks she is the smartest person in the room.
She is very knowledgeable.
Very nice lady and knows her stuff
She's the best. But you HAVE to take notes and pay attention or you won't know anything!
Kahai is all over the place, and her accent is so thick that it is hard to understand her. She expects that you know what she's talking about before she teaches it. Kahai talks more about her personal life than about Econ. She also doesn't allow note taking(certain sections only). I'm a writing-based learner, so her teaching style is not helpful.
Kahai is one of the smartest people I have met. She knows what she is talking about and you will walk out knowing a lot about econ. There are a lot of lectures and homework, but if you pay attention and do the homework, the tests will not be an issue. I would take her again.
Dr. Kahai is ok. I had to work really really hard to get a B+. She definitely has acknowledged my hard work though. She really likes hard workers. Her lectures get off topic and can be confusing at times, but if you have any questions, she is a huge help outside of class. She seems intimidating at first but is really nice once you get to know her.
Least favorite professor I've had at JCU. Extremely disorganized and I'm not sure she even knows what she is talking about. Tests are hard. The more I listened to her, the more confused I got. Only take her if completely necessary.
The homework she assigns is very pointless, it has nothing to do with what is talked about in class. She is also super disorganized. Her grading system is very messed up and how she presents it to her students is weird. Dr. Kahai is very lecture heavy. Her lectures are somewhat boring but take lots of notes, even if she tells you not to take them!
Simran is a great person, but she is an AWFUL professor. Had us by this Top Hat app but used it twice. Exams are impossible, it got to the point to where no one would study because you were guaranteed a C with the C Contract. Unless you need the credit, avoid at all costs. Homework made no sense.
One of my favorite professors at JCU
Dr. Kahai is phenomenal. At first, my interest in microeconomics was relatively low, however, she peaked my interest. Despite the other reviews, I highly recommend you take her. She is ALWAYS available and wants nothing more than to see her students excel. Dr. Kahai is one of the best in the Boler College.
Dr. Kahai is super lenient and extremely nice. The material is challenging and requires a lot of self study, but Dr. Kahai is willing to help you with whatever you may need pretty much anytime you need her.
Dr. Kahai is one of the best professors in Boler. Very funny and wants her students to succeed. Tends to go through her lectures very fast and is not always clear, so make sure you ask questions. Homework is easy, but tests can be challenging, make sure you study. She is always willing to help, just go see her!
Talks about pizza and bred for the first 5 chapters and everyone has failed pending the extended response
Dont take this class unless you wanna stress yourself out
Do not take this class with Dr. Kahai. She is very nice in all, but makes the class a lot tougher then it needs to be. The homework has nothing to do with the tests. She always said she would give extra problems for extra help and never did. Do not take this class.
Please don't let the poor ratings of Dr. Kahai scare you out of taking her class. If you are willing to read the book, do the homework, be engaged in class (ask as many questions as you want, she encourages it!!), and work hard, you will succeed. Dr. Kahai is difficult, but extremely smart, kind, and funny! She is always willing to help.
She was awesome
Dr. Kahai was great. Stay engaged in class and ask questions. Go to her office hours, she is such a nice person to talk to and will help you with whatever you need. Only read one chapter of the book and relied mostly on the PowerPoint and WebAssign but I would say reading the book is important.
She is very nice and definitely cares about her students. All the cengage assignments can be found on chegg and the tutors help a lot. The cengage assignments dont relate to the tests all that much so dont stress about them. The tests are conceptual based so ask questions and know the definitions and graphs!!
The class is pretty tough but Dr. Kahai is really cool
Dr. Kahai is one of the kindest teachers ever. She makes class very engaging. However, class is not really that organized. She'll say one thing will happen next class and something completely different will happen. If you are an organized person, this class isn't for you. Regardless, very kind lady and she takes time to make sure you understanding
She had funny stories and was very invested in her students
Dr. Kahai definitely knows what she is talking about, however she does not know how to put it into words. I find her lectures raise more questions than answer questions. I found that disregarding her lectures and doing your own research through the book and following her talking points in her slideshows is best. She does want to see success though.
nah b
Very heavy accent, hard to understand.
It is a very difficult class, but Kahai is a good professor and she challenges you to be good at economics. This class was extremely hard, especially for non-economic majors
She did not care about this class at all. I learned nothing and many times she did not know she assigned work/projects. Nobody ever knew what was going on. What a waste of my time.
Had a hard time understanding anything that was taught in class.
Not a bad professor but their are better. Makes you buy her 75$ online workbook for HW but won't let you take notes in class on a computer... Got extremely mad in class a few times and outburst on students, missed many days, and was almost never on time to class. Its not a hard class but would recommend another professor.
It is a disaster that Kahai is the only EC301 teacher. She does seem to know her stuff but teaching is not her gift. Very disorganized. She just clicks through slides or shows you examples of problems that are already done. Only if you ask questions can you get her to actually teach. Easily the worst full-time econ/ finance faculty at John Carroll.
she was absolutely terrible at teaching and doesn't know how to go through the examples with the class. She also is terrible with technology and puts timers on the homework's. She is terrible, don't take her.
The professor is pretty engaging, though the class can be disorganized at times. Definitely go to office hours - she's super helpful. Rely on the PowerPoints and WebAssign, but reading the textbook is still important. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for preparing for exams!
Dr. Kahai is probably the worst professor I've ever experienced. She has absolutely no care for the students, don't let her fool you. The only thing she does in class is teach you the wrong thing and try to confuse you on what you need to know. Her tests and quizzes are not difficult if you do not listen to her at all and just study on your own.
Kahai is unable to form correct sentences in english. She does not teach during class but rather spends the time talking about random trips she's been on, and also some random food. Kung Pao Chicken was the most recent one. She picks one or two students to talk to the rest of the semester and if you are not one of them don't expect any help.
Dr. Kahai is hands down the worst professor at John Carroll. She has an unbelievable amount of incompetence and stubbornness. She makes you buy her online textbook that is over $150, and doesn't let you use it in class. She takes her shoes off in class, horrible with technology, never in class, always late. Don't waste your time with her!!
