He spends the entire hour going over homework, 10 minutes teaching, then assigns homework on stuff he spent 10 minutes on. Will assume you understand concepts and you end up asking friends for help.

If you want a class that frustrates the crap out of you, then take his class! If you want to learn nothing and basically teach yourself, then take his class!!

This guy knows what he is talking about! Mathematics is not calculator work! Mathematics is Mathematics!!

THIS GUY SUCKS!!! I had a 3.98 GPA going into his class, never got below an A in any math class, then ONG showed up. I transfered out of his class after getting a 3/10 on the first test, only to have the prof I transfered into have to leave on sick leave

taking a class from him was an inadvertant MISTAKE!!! he is a terrible professor. do not take a class from him (even if you must wait for graduation)...

OMG, all I can say is WORST TEACHER EVER! Nuff Said.

Ong knows his stuff, but he can't teach his way out of a wet paper bag. To do well in this class you'll definitely have to put in extra time to make sure you understand what he tried to say.

He cannot teach at all. He is the worst teacher i have ever had. I wouldnt take this class with him at all

Horrible teacher.

Very hard to understand. Does not understand student's in class questions and gives long useless answers to them. Very critical towards students. He uses over complicated examples to explain simple things. Do not take him if you strugle in math, even a little.

not able to understand him in calss time or office hours, math is his life and if you're not a math major this is not the class for you, you must read the book to do good, seems to be bipolar, has his good days and his bad, but they're mostly bad days avoid at all costs

Yes this is supposed to be the hardest math class you take, but this guy will not explain how to do anything with any clarity. Take with anyone else ANYONE!!!!! Did not work out one example problem to completion the entire semester.

He is a great teacher if you are very good at math. But he does expect that you have a perfect understanding of classes prior to his. If a professor skiped a section in a perivous class, IT WILL HURT YOU WITH HIM.

Even though I am a math major and understand it pretty easy...HE WILL NOT HELP YOU LEARN A THING...he expects you to know everything before you learn it....whatever you do, do not take his classes unless you have a Ph.D.

Sing is the most difficult person to understand. He shouldn't be teaching. Period.

he class is freakin hard and not a good professor! he needs to learn more english before he teaches the class!!

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! You will end up teaching yourself! He is not very forgiving if you are sick, even with a doctors note. He also never returns emails. Don't try to go to him for help because he wont give it to you!

Useless. Talks to his class with no respect. basically calls everyone stupid because the class failed an "easy" test. He goes way to fast. We are doing chapter 6 which I am pretty sure if for Calc 2. I dont' even understand Calc 1. never returns emails, can't teach, cant' talk.... why is he working here? get ready to waste 900 bucks on this class.

This guy is the worst prof I have ever had. I am so glad that I am out of his class. I will absolutely never take another class with him again. You can't understand him, but even if you could, it wouldn't matter because he doesn't teach. He's a jerk. Don't take him.

Forget him being an abysmal math teacher, he is literally one of the most insulting people I've ever met. If you can at all avoid his class, do so.

He was by far the worst professor I've had so far. He didn't offer enough time to complete the quizes. He didn't like answering questions from students and was't very helpful when asked a question. He would make mistakes as he did problems but ridiculously penalized students' mistakes on quizes. He'sa harsh grader with a horrible teaching style.

I had AP Calc in high school and I got a B+, A-. I thought I could at least get a B. I currently have a D and if I have any shot at a C I have to somehow steal his brain. He insults everyone and doesnt respect anyone. I beg of you not to take him. Please dont do it.

Do NOT take his class! He is the worst professor I have had. Unless you are a math genius, your chances of being successful in his class are extremely minimal. I made the mistake of taking him during my last semester. Due to his harsh grading, I might not graduate on time, despite working my butt off all semester. FIND ANOTHER PROF TO TAKE!!!

This professor is horrible! never take a class with him. he will mark you down when you have all the right work, i swear he likes to see people fail. he will yell at you when you ask for help and although we have an open door policy, he will not help you. i want to be a math teacher, but he is making me hate math a little more everyday.

Worst professor to take. Not helpful at all, he never finished a complete problem, expects you to know everything all the way back from algebra one. He says you don't need to memorize how to do the problems but if you don't do it exactly his way he'll mark a ridiculous amount of points of. Don't ever take his class.

Not a good teacher, is only there because of his 10 year, i thought he wouldn't be that bad but he is, do not take his class.

Worst experience I've ever had with a class. Pointless homework that people in the Math Tutoring Center had problems working out. The homework was only 5% of the class and there is a language barrier.

Only lasted in his class one week. Absolutely terrible teacher. Does not clarify anything and refuses to answer student questions. Impossible quizzes in a very short amount of time. Drop him as soon as you possibly can.

He is a hard teacher to understand. He doesn't tell you what he expects to see or anything so it's confusing. I was having trouble with an assignment that was due before I left, and other people were too, and he left us instead of helping us. So shocking. The material isn't hard but he deducts for not showing easy steps. And he doesn't post grades.

Worst teacher ever. If you are questioning taking him do not. I am warning you. "Is that okay? For all of you"

Horrible teacher. Doesn't even help teach the lesson. "Do you have any questions, or anything like that?" Of course I do but he can't explain anything. Never take this class

Honestly the worst professor I've ever had. I'm good at math but he is TERRIBLE at explaining the material. When he does examples on the board he pretty much just does them, and doesn't explain what hes doing or why he's doing it. There is also somewhat of a language barrier. Seriously, do yourself a favor. Avoid this professor AT ALL COSTS.

worst teacher i have ever had. he clearly loves math but made everyone in my class hate the subject. couldn't understand him, and if you asked questions, he couldn't give you an answer that you could understand. I struggled in this class, and plan on re-taking it with a different professor. do anything you can to get out of his class

Grade is all based on exams. No cushion to fail an exam, if you do bad on just one exam you're basically screwed. No homework tho. Horrible accent, horrible examples, and horrible explanations.

Prof. Ong was very unclear and unorganized. Very difficult, and hard to understand and was sometimes rude to students asking questions. The study guides however are the exact tests with changed numbers and he lets you use a note card on the test. There's only 2 tests however so failing one will drop your grade very dramatically. Just use the book

This is the worst professor that I have had since attending CMU. He is rude, unclear, and all around unhelpful. Most of my class is close to failing and when asked about grades he ignores you and is unpleasant.

You will hate your life if you have this professor. He is a terrible teacher, and very hard to understand because of his accent. If you are already struggling in math i suggest that you take this class with any other professor but him.

I knew by the second day of this class that I wasn''t going to make it through the semester. He is quite hard to understand and he goes through the material fast even when the majority of the class does not know what is going on. I would recommend switching to a different math teacher if you have a history of trouble with it.

Worst professor ive ever had! barely speaks enlgish, doesn't exactly do notes, just jumps around doing random problems, and by doing I mean does the problem and doesn't explain anything, grade is based soley on test! Good luck haha, drop this class

If you have any problems with math then DO NOT take this class. He does not clarify how to do the problems. He stands at the board and completes the problem without explanation. He frequently makes mistakes while teaching and asks the students what he did wrong. The only grades that matter in the class are the tests, and good luck on those.

Seriously awful!!!! Doesn't help, skips steps while doing problems, makes mistakes on problems, tests are everything and doesn't review for them. He refuses to clarify questions. I asked him if he wanted us to round or not and his exact words were "answers don't matter just the work", yet everyone i know failed his exams

Do NOT take this class with Mr. Ong no matter what you do. I am not a bad math student and almost failed this course. He is very difficult to understand and even has a hard time understanding you. There are only two exams and the final is worth 40% of your grade. He also does not post grades until the second exam is taken. Find another professor!

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR WHAT SO EVER!!!! I am an all A student and I still received a low grade. He is very hard to understand and sometimes speaks to you in a very demeaning tone. He is not understanding what so ever. He gives study guides the day before the test which isn't really helpful because you don't have time to study the study guide.

Talks into the whiteboard often so that you cannot understand what he is saying clearly. Does not explain reasoning behind many steps that he takes in a problem, and will often have to go back to the beginning of a long problem to fix a mistake he made and throw off everyone taking notes in class.

Cannot understand him as he mumbles. Very smart man not a good professor at all.

This might be the worst class I've ever had. He goes off on irrelevant tangents and due to his incomprehensible accent, you get lost several times a class period. He handles questions horribly and only managed to make students even more confused. He waits until the last minute to upload grades, so you never know the answers to "study guides" or your grade in the class. He requires attendance, but you'll be better off watching a 20 minute YouTube video rather than his 2 hour class. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Do yourself a favor and switch out if you can. Your GPA and sanity will thank you.

Mr. Ong does not know what he is teaching. He will make mistakes during class and on online homework. Worst math teacher I have ever had. If you have not had experience to calculus, do not take him. Does not understand your questions. Exams are hard and frustrating. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. I am very displeased and angry with him.

He makes mistakes all the time (especially during class) and is terrible at explaining the material. If you want to do well you NEED to get help outside of class (from a friend, math center, etc.). Tests are really hard.

Do not take Ong's class. Test are awful. The online homework did match up with the material usually taught in class. Tests were worth the majority of your grade so if you don't do well on them you won't pass. Choose another teach or wait. Please just don't take this professor.

Terrible. I do not understand what he does in class because he either does it wrong himself, or moves too fast for any student to process. He does not give notes, but instead does about three practice problems in a two hour lecture. His exam reviews had incorrect answers on them and your grade depends on your scores. DO NOT TAKE NO MATTER WHAT!

This was the worst class I have ever taken. I am someone who is good at math typically but had to withdraw from this class because I could not learn from him. His lectures are horrible, he doesn't really explain but just picks a couple practice problems from the book. HE MAKES SO MANY MISTAKES, even things like BASIC MULTIPLICATION. DO NOT TAKE HIM

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM! You will regret it after the first day of lecture. You will not be able to understand him, he is terrible at explaining information and does problems wrong. The course was very unorganized and when I asked for help he refused.

If you take this class, expect to teach yourself and read the book. One glimmer of hope is that the quizzes and reviews are very similar to the exams and he curves a lot on the final. Taking linear algebra with Ong is frustrating because it's hard to follow what he's doing on the board, but asking questions during class can help.

This is the worst, most ineffective math teacher I have ever had. I took calculus 1-3 in college so far and I had to take Linear Algebra (MTH233) for my major. You have to translate him for most of the class. Don't even think about asking a question, more often than not you'll be more confused when he is done "explaining" it.

Ong is a great guy, but a horrible professor. Ong is obsessed with Math so he skips over steps and expects you to teach yourself. He gets defensive when you ask a question and will not help you at all. His tests are the same as his reviews well they are alike. If you want to teach yourself then take him, but I would recommend somebody else.

He is a horrible teacher, he is super enthusiastic about math but the language barrier is horrible. He doesnt put in grades at all and gives you a homewrok quiz to do in class once a week, but doesnt let you now your grade. Tests are so hard but theres like a 40% curve on each test

Ong is not a good teacher... Do NOT take his class unless you already know exactly what you're doing. Thick accent, doesn't teach, doesn't use blackboard, and doesn't answer questions. Class does not get easier. You'll be stuck at the math center or tutoring. Go to SI sessions or something. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS

Awful professor. I could not understand him most of the time and he did not explain things very well. I went to my schools math center more than I actually went to class. Would not recommend.

His class consists of him going through problems from the book pretty much the whole time without explaining anything. There are occasional worksheets done in class. Sometimes you get lucky and a question is the same as one of his examples. At least he lets you work together. He has huge curves on tests because nobody knows what is going on.

WORST MATH PROF. EVER! He just loves math so much thats all he does. he doesnt teach he just does math on the board all class period. If you mess up on showing your work once, he marks the whole question wrong even if you got the right answer. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. I have to re-take this class now because I got a D+. and I love math.....
