I'm not sure if it was the professor herself of the course administrator but the homework she gave us and the tests were did not correlate at all. Somebody was not communicating.
The homework and test did not correlate well. Went very fast, although it may have been more a problem with the course administrator. She had an annoying habit of saying things were "pretty straight forward", even when the whole class was staring at her mouths open scratching our heads.
If you put in the time, she is there to help you. Always available during office hours, very organized and helpful.
She teaches straight from the book which will put you to sleep and does not explain concepts well. Be prepared to study a lot on your own and to have the most difficult problems from each section on your exams.
I hated every moment of it. makes me glad to not be a math major
Very fast paced and hard to understand would not take any of her classes.
Ms. Kansakar was great! The people who have given her bad reviews on here are lazy and unwilling to work. I am not a math person, but I found her teaching clear, and she was very helpful and would meet with you during office hours. If you attend class she grades easier than if you just show up for the tests. I would definitely take her again.
Interesting combination of online and class - she's a great teacher and will answer all questions!! HIGHLY recommend!!!
Loved her! She was amazing and will work with you! Take her if you get the chance! Tests come from quizzes, quizzes come from homework(not checked)...basically just do the homework! :)
Clear and easy to understand. Some of the homework assignments were difficult, but the test difficulty was reasonable. I would recommend this professor.
She is amazing! If you do your homework and attend class you should not have any problems. Also, if you do your homework you will do well on the quiz. I wish I could take her for all of my math classes here at UAH (math major here). She is very caring and willing to help. Highly recommended!
Tests had problems we never covered, or problems we were told that we would not be covering. Never EVER responded to emails, I mean literally never once did. Never actually answered a question or problem, but instead made it more confusing. Not the worst math teach I have had surprisingly, but I would go for almost anyone else if you can.
Not very clear on material and offers little to no extra credit or help. Was very difficult to contact outside of class.
She gives a long list of homework problems that are not mandatory, then she picks a few of those that are mandatory. She gives quizzes that come from the homework (the lowest 2 quiz grades are dropped). Study guides are put online. Tests are short, and medium difficulty. Goes over tests in class and hands them back. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK PASS!
best Teacher Ever
Kansakar does an amazing job of teaching linear algebra. She dives into both the abstract side and the practical side by doing the conceptual math followed by helpful examples. She is there for you if you need extra help and she follows the textbook so if you miss class you can catch yourself up.
Great professor. Tests aren't particularly hard, but she is a very tough grader. No calculators in linear algebra.
She teaches really fast so get ready to do some studying on your own. Other than that if you have questions she will always gladly answer them.
If you really want to learn and pass, she's the best teacher. Her tests are not too hard, if you study the material you can easily pass with an A grade.
She was very nice but her homework and exams were very hard and she went through everything so fast. She assumes that everyone understands all the material right away and therefore grades homework ridiculously harshly. She is very helpful though if you go to her office hours.
I took her for linear algebra and it was honestly the worst class I've ever been in. Not because it's hard but because she made it so boring. It's 100% barely legible powerpoints. She doesn't move, the notes don'the go online, and there is 0 engagement. She asks, "Is that okAAAaay?" and never waits for a response. Seems nice. Would NOT recommend.
Dr. K goes fast, but covers everything that may be on the test so you are never blindsided. Tells you what to study for tests, gives feedback, goes over mistakes in class. If you can't keep up with her pace, you may need a tutor. She goes fast because there is a lot to cover, not because she wants to confuse people. Very available outside of class.
As a student who struggles with math, I thoroughly enjoyed this class. She does go through lecture fast, but is willing to help outside of class. Before each test, she releases a "Test Review" that consists of the exact type of questions that will be on the test. As long as you can do the review, you will make a good grade.
Worst professor I have ever had. She speeds through lectures and does not explain difficult topics well. Homework is so much harder than any example she gives in class. Classwork prepares you for the test, that is the only good thing about her.
Kansakar acknowledged that she talks fast and has tried to slow down this semester to a normal pace. She explains things very clearly and can answer any question as well as help us individually when needed. She obviously cares about her students and gives out extra credit sometimes. The quizzes are tricky, but the homework and tests aren't bad.
Refused to round a grade that was close to an a, lots of homework that you lose points for extremely easily. Her lectures are extremely difficult to understand, and I had to go to a tutor to even be able to remotely understand the concepts.
Dr. Kansakar is amazing. Her lectures are very clear, easy to understand, and she will not move on until everyone understands the concepts. One day of class per week is a workday, where the entire class is given problems, and she comes around and helps with anything. If you try in her class, youll get an A. I would take her class again in a sec.
I honestly have no idea why she has a single bad review as she's been one of my favorite math teachers at UAH so far. Her lectures are very easy to follow along and she posts them on canvas. As long as you come to class and actually listen and try, you shouldn't have any issues. She definitely wants her students to succeed.
Dr. Kansakar is awesome. She presents the material in a way that is super easy to understand, and really makes you enjoy math. It's great if a teacher actually teaches well (Kansakar does), but it's even better when the teacher is super nice as a person (Kansakar is). I no longer rate teachers from 1 to 10; I rate them from 1 to Kansakar.
Very descriptive and cares about her students in almost a maternal type of relationship! Don't miss her lectures and don't overlook her worksheets! They will be your cheat codes for the exams. She is a woman of her word, if she tells you something will be on the test TAKE NOTE. She isn't a professor that likes to surprise her students on test day.
I had her for Linear Algebra, the content is boring but she does a good job teaching it, everything was easy to understand and I would definitely take her class again.
Dr. Kansakar is my favorite teacher of all time. I had her for Cal A, and now for Linear. She is the sweetest teacher I've had in my life. She's very happy to answer any questions that you might have, and if you go to her office hours, she'll explain things to you as many times as you need her to. Definitely take her for any class that you can!
She tries to stick to one homework or one quiz per week so make sure you read up on topics weekly. Pretty quiet voice so try and sit near the front if possible. The topic is very abstract so try and read the textbook in addition to lecture and supplement with additional materials as needed.
Kansakar is an amazing lecturer and I almost never had to study outside of class. As long as you pay attention during class and participate in the group work, you're going to be prepared for the tests. She is very understanding if you work hard, and even let me make up a missed test once. Gives good partial credit on tests and offers extra credit.
I took Dr. Kansakar for DE (my second time taking it) and everything made SO much more sense with her. She explains by definitions and examples which is super helpful, but she also is available during office hours and will explain everything to you until you understand it.
Dr. Kansakar is the best! I chose to take her again after having her for calculus A. She really does care about her students and takes the time to make sure we all understand the material. I am very happy to have a good foundation going into calculus B.
Dr. Kansakar is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. I had her for Cal A and am taking her for Cal B next semester. She gives plenty of grades so you never have to worry too much about any one grade destroying you. While she was a little heavy on homework, it was helpful in cementing understanding, never any busywork.
I took 171, 172, and 244, with her, and I would easily take any of her classes again. Her lectures have a good balance of theory and examples, and though her homework and test problems are difficult, she is very good about giving helpful feedback and partial credit. She really cares about her students and works incredibly hard to help them succeed
Favorite professor from my first semester at UAH. Doesn't give out bad grades for fun.
Dr. Kansakar is a fantastic professor for this class. My only gripe is that she required us to do some integration later in the course and she had quizzes every other week, but outside of that the class wasn't too bad. She explains everything very thoroughly so just listen in class and work the practice problems and you'll be fine.
Dr. Kansakar is one of the best professors I've had. Her lectures are fast-paced and keep you engaged, but not so fast you lost focus. Her homework can be tough but prepares you wholly for the test. The tests are straightforward; if you studied what she recommended, you will ace it. Highly recommend her for anyone.
She begins talking even if people aren't entirely quiet, so listen carefully. I never had to use the textbook, but be warned: the homework is harder than the test, and you get limited tries. She gave my class friday's to do a "math lab," which was a lesser version of the test, so use that to your advantage.
She was truly awful, I would not recommend for anyone to take her. When I had her she was absent for 3 classes in a row (2 hr classes, so a week and a half). She had "substitutes" which didn't teach the correct content, but what they were doing in their classes. When she returned we told her what happened and she didnt push back the test.
Kansakar was a great professor. Her lectures were easy to understand and she posts them so you can go back and review. She was available almost every school day after class so it was easy to get your questions answered. If you pay attention, take notes, do the homework, put in the effort. You will do alright in her class.
Great Professor. She explains all the concepts nicely. Easy A class If you do the homework and understand it. Questions on test are mostly the same as homework problems just with different numbers.
Great prof. Work load isnt unreasonable, though CAL B is hard so expect to work for it. She moves quickly and takes no excuses, but she teaches well and gives you it straight. Stay well on top of your work and use the resources she gives you, youll do well. The test is either easier, or the same as the homework.
I was hesitant to take her, but I am glad I did. She created a great environment in class, and our class is very comfortable with her. She makes all homework due before the test, so you have to stay on top of it. Her study guides are very similar to the tests, and she gives a lot of partial credit and bonuses. Notes are helpful and posted online.
Dr. Kansakar not a great or a terrible professor, she's alright. She moves too fast through the lectures and won't even quickly review the concepts we used in Calculus A. I had to spend several hours outside of class getting tutored to understand the material. Asides from that, she's a very nice person and is generous when it comes to grading.
Plain and simple the best Calc B teacher. She made the material very simple to understand and always made you feel free to ask questions. If you go to class and put in effort you will do well in the class. I recommend doing the homework the same day you go over the material.
Professor Kansakar was very transparent about her expectations and what she taught. Her lectures are fast but include all the information you need to get good grades if you apply them and take notes. Tests are difficult and matter the most so studying is necessary but very doable. I would take her class again if I could, she is a great teacher.
Dr. Kansakar is a great lecturer; she is very passionate about what she teaches & is willing to walk through every step. There's a lot of online homework, but she will help if you ask about it. You have to put in effort to do well, but it's worth it! She goes fast and expects you to know MA 171 basics, which is expected of any well-taught Cal B! :)
I took her for Calculus B and Diff Eq and she's easily the best for both. She does NOT overload homework, give crazy tests, and expect the impossible. She's very caring and helpful in and out of the classroom. Definitely take her and take lots of notes. She'll help you pass and understand tough stuff. Just watch out... She's a fast lecturer. :)
Horrible grader, my friends told me to avoid her and I didn't I am paying it in full. She is a tough grader
Dr. Kansakar is a professor who teaches fast but has complete lectures that allow you to go do homework/study afterwards. She gave us study/review before exams for you to know what was possibly on it. She also gave us extra book problems which are good to do/be familiar with. Her test aren't the easiest calling for studying and reviewing.
Kansakar is a solid choice for any MA class. Ive had her for Cal B and Linear. Did well both times. She does move very very quickly so you must stay on top of your work and alert in lectures. However her tests arent all that difficult and review collaboration days are very helpful. Passing should be doable if not easy. Take her if you can.
Dr. Kansakar is a fast lecturer; she is very passionate about it. Test heavy and grading was tough Im sure since others are pretty lenient about some stuff and they give extra credit. You have to put in a lot if effort to do really well. She goes fast and grades were on the low unfortunately. Students struggled in her class more than dynamics.
Talks and teaches quickly and grades exams leniently. Gave the class an extra credit opportunity when the average on exam 1 was low. Exam problems are just harder versions of the HW problems. 'This is nothing'.
Mrs. Siroj was a great lecturer, but beware she is very fast and gives a lot of definitions. The tests are simple in terms of calculations, but heavy on the concepts. Make sure to attend class, it is easier to ask questions that way.
Excellent differential equations professor. Gives good examples in class and homework that isn't too demanding. I would recommend doing the practice problems that she posts so that you can be more prepared for the tests. If you do the homework and practice you'll be well prepared for the tests and final.
Great professor. My only gripe is that she often explained the material too much instead of showing more example problems in class, which may better suit some students. Overall, she made an effort to take feedback from students and assign a fair amount of homework. She gives out extra credit on days with low attendance, so make sure to show up!
A tough class with a great teacher. Never had any problem understanding her through her minimal accent. There are better teachers but don't worry if you do have to take her. Some of the homework was hard, but if you push through that, the tests aren't bad if you also pay attention in class.
Don't expect to receive special treatment when you miss a test for an excused absence. Had to fight tooth and nail just to get a make-up but the option she gave was to make it up at the end of the semester during exam week.
Dr. Kansakar is a great math professor. She truly cares about all of her students. I could really tell that she loves what she does and it shows in how she presents her material. I would definitely take another one of her classes if I had the chance.
I took her for cal b and she was such an amazing professor! Thorough with the class material and accessible outside of class. Will most likely take her for differential equations if she continues teaching the class here!
Professor Kansakar was a good lecturer and fair grader. She gave only a few opportunities for extra credit, but learning from her was not difficult so it wasn't necessary. The homework was very manageable with less than one assignment a week.
I've taken Dr. Kansakar for Cal B and DE now, and I would absolutely recommend her for any MA course she teaches! She goes at a reasonable speed and posts her notes after lectures (attendance is graded). She sometimes provides bonus questions on exams. She's very kind and will answer questions outside of class. Be sure to do her extra HW problems!
Great professor. Was accommodating when it came to taking tests early or making them up if necessary. She explained all the concepts well and provided good materials for studying. Definitely recommend!
Teaches fast, but in a digestible way. Made differential equations not that scary. Great instructor who really knows her stuff and is accessible in office hours if you are stuck. Tests were not that bad, and she gives you a table of Laplace transforms. Read the textbook!
Amazing Professor.
I took Dr. Kansakar 8am-9:50am twice a week. She lectures the whole class and goes very fast, but she is extremely thorough with the material with TONS of examples. Before each test, she gives a worksheet where some of the problems are exactly the same as on the tests. She also does in-class participation/group assignments, which help your grade.
Dr. Kansakar is the best calculus professor I've taken. She makes sure that you have gone over everything on the test, and you know exactly what will be on there. She explains math better than any other teacher I have had.
Dr Kansakar was amazing. Easy to follow, many examples, and very fair tests/grading. Go to class. There are class participation problems that can drop your grade by 4 or so points if you don't do it.
Overall, just incredible, especially if you ask for help. Just turn off your ringer, she understandably doesn't like it when your phone goes off in class. Her and the TAs go around the room after lectures offering help on any problem you need. Passionate about the subject and teaching. She is a heavy grader on the homework but 100% fair.
She is an extremely fair professor. She gives in class bonus problems for extra credit on the tests, her partial credit is very in your favor, and she has a good mix of challenging and easy problems on the tests. Homework is basically once a week. She moves pretty fast during lectures but the double slide thing she does helps you not fall behind.
I was in the hospital and she didn't seem to care about it. She gave the homework expecting me to do it and she also lectures very fast with bad handwriting so you can't understand much
Great professor overall! Tests were the main points for this class. They weren't terrible but you definitely have to study. She is super caring and is great about responding outside of class. She can move a little fast, but is usually aware of it and checks in with everyone. I would definitely take her class again.
She has been my favorite math teacher by far. If you show up to class and pay attention you will do well, she does a great job explaining the concepts and helping you when you are struggling to understand. Her exams are closely related to what we do in class/homework, and she often gives bonus points to those who show up in class.
Kansakar will give you all you need to do will in class and more. Her lectures can sometimes be hard to follow but diff eqs isn't a hard subject so after a few practice problems you'll understand the material. The test are somewhat easy as problems are very similar to either homework problems or examples gone over in class.
I had a hard time with the concepts in Calc 2, but Dr. Kansakar was always kind. She does not give credit easily on her exams, and they are tough and often not reflective of the reviews. I struggled on all the exams, and there were a lot of exams & homework. Overall, though, she is kind and very knowledgeable on calculus.
Kansakar is amazing. She truly cares about every one of her students. She makes studying for her exams easy, with them being similar to the homework and study guides she gives out. She is also very generous with extra credit, with almost every test having a bonus question, which typically is not very difficult.
She is very nice professor. She gives a lot of examples in class, which are enough to help you with the homework and tests. She usually does a review before each test. If you write down all the example problems in your notes and complete the test review, you will do well on her exams.
I really enjoy her as a professor, she is very understanding and also does a great job lecturing. Her grading is very clear, and sometimes she will offer extra credit on days that not a lot of people show up. I would definitely recommend taking her for this course.
I really love how she will work with you as you try to understand the concepts without giving you the answers. She is fast during her lectures so PAY ATTENTION!! She will work with you most of the time on due dates. I would definitely take her again.
Intermediate Differential Equations is a 400 level class, so it is going to be extremely difficult, no getting around that; however Dr. Kansakar made it manageable. She works out examples by hand every single class and makes sure you understand the material. The homeworks are very applicable and similar to the exams. Very difficult, but very great.
Dr. Kansakar is such an amazing math professor! Her lectures are super clear on what we are learning as well as her follow up examples. While her tests are harder than some of the teachers, she prepares you well for her's, and it is very possible to get an A.
She is by far UAHs best professor. Great lectures that are easy to understand and follow. The homework is structured so that the in class examples help. She is also a great person and really caring professor. 100% take her if you get the chance.
