Great TEACHER
Dr. Jenkins is a great prof. He really knows his stuff and actually is passionate about it. He is awesome to talk to one on one and keeps his classroom upbeat and it is never boring. Hearing the stories about his kids are absolutely hilarious!!!!
Amazing prof. Total genius and definitely fun in class. Always willing to hear questions, even when those questions are absurd. He treats everyone equally, and it has been my privilege to take this class with him.
My favorite professor. Or at least tied with powery.

No tests! Quizes and weekly DRP(answering qustions on material) make up the grade. Ask questions if you don't understand something. One of the best classes I've had to take.
Intro to theology is just that ... INTRODUCTION! He treats this like everybody in the class is theology/religion majors. THIS IS NOT SEMINARY, THIS IS A GENERAL EDUCATION CLASS!!!!! EASE UP AND SAVE IT FOR THE THEOLOGY MAJORS!
Skip is the best theology professor in the department! He is an animated professor who always finds interesting ways to convey his message. He always kept my attention. He doesn't give tests, but does require daily homework to be turned in and he gives open note quizzes almost every class.
He is good. I started the class thinking he was too arrogant, but as the class goes on you get used to his dry humor and even enjoy the challenging conversations with him. He acknowledges when you have a good point and gives you credit. Good teacher. Down to Earth.
Jenkins is by far the best teacher I have ever had. I have learned more in his two classes this semester about the Bible, and have been challenged to critically think more than I ever have before in my entire life. He makes you want to come to class and excited to learn. He is extremely smart, funny and very down to earth!! Take anything he teaches
Prof. Jenkins is the man. You may not get along with him because of his strong personality - but to each his own. For my part, I found his teaching challenging, brilliant and fun. Will definitely make you think critically.
Skip is one of my favorite teachers. He makes classes interesting and fun. I have learned a lot! AND there are no exams...only open-note quizes, weekly homework pages, and three papers. I would def. recommend him -- if you have a sense of humor and can take sarcasm.
he was very unhelpful and extremely irritating. when i came to him with a few questions about the class, he totally ignored my questions and tried to push me onto a different professor that i didn't even know. i hated the class and i don't recommend that anyone take him.
His presentation of the material is very cohesive, which makes everything easier to understand in the end. Class is very thought-provoking and mentally challenging, yet it is not impossible to get a good grade - just requires understanding and putting thought into your work. He makes class enjoyable and interesting.
If you like distractions, a circus like atmosphere when it comes to teaching, and notes in the form of drawings. Jenkins in the teacher for you! He will spend more time talking about how his daughter is possessed than teaching. Not helpful after class, if you don't do it his way, better not do it at all.
His class is hard. Know it before you go in. 20 pages of homework reading each session, a paper a week, plus three harshly graded essays. The only man to ever cover a REFLECTION PAPER with red ink. You'll learn more in this class than any other THEO class at Lee. Period. Fantastic teacher.
DO NOT EVER TAKE HIS CLASS. This man is completely arrogant. He is too concerned with himself to care about his students. He publically criticizes his students, then has to publically apologize. His expextations are unrealistic and ridiculous. I cannot understand a word the man says.
Great Professor who cares about his students and wants them to actually think about the material and not just memorize a bunch of facts.
This guy could teach the feathers off a pigeon.
Biggest D ever! In the words of the great Scooby Doo, "Rooby dooby doo"!
I would highly recommend auditing any course he teaches. What he teaches you will be invaluable to your intellectual development as a Christian. However, only the very diligent and studious have any strong chance of receiving a passing final grade. His classes are intellectual resurrection but can lead to academic suicide.
When I look back at my time at Lee, I realize that the most valuable things I learned, I learned in his classes. He will offend you and make you think you're crazy, but at the end, your perspective will be much wider and you won't ever be content with "easy" answers to hard questions again. Do yourself a favor: TAKE HIM. Best advice I can give.
His theology is not biblical... enough said...
He is challenging and is willing to help you learn. You will have to work for you grade but you will know the material and remember after you leave. Rather than being able to regurgitate the material, you will own the material and be able to apply what you learn. If you want to work and know the material take him. If you want an easy class don't.
Skip Jenkins, Jedi Knight. He's not going to coddle you, he's not going to appeal to your sensitivities, he's going to teach you, and teach you well. If you have the emotional maturity of an infant, I could see how this class would be too much for you. But if you want to learn to think critically about your faith and life, there's no substitute.
Skip forces you to think about things from a different perspective. The has very sound logic and is insightful. He does not hold a position just because its popular in Western Christianity. If you want to have a class that will help push you out of religion of cultural norms and into one that relies on sound Biblical ideas then take Skip.
Skip is an excellent teacher of Christian history. He makes you work for your grade, but you will retain what you learn and enjoy the lecture in the process. You can't expect to sail through the class without working, but the work is certainly worth it and is not without purpose.
Dr. Jenkins is definitely tough, but you will honestly learn a lot. Great guy, great teacher but his essay tests are too much for the limited time allowed. It isn't impossible to pass the class, but if we had more time for the tests that would have helped! I recommend him, but you better be willing to study!
Brilliant.
The guy is incredibly smart. He definitly knows what he's talking about. If you are willing to work extremely hard then take him because he is a cool guy. Great personality, extremely tough teacher.
Skip Jenkins is really amazing, for all those haters, you need to come back to the light side. Only sith deal in absolute hate.
Skip Jenkins is an extravagant asset to both Christianity and and collegiate academia as a whole. This guy is authentic.
Jenkins is an incredible professor. He loves his students and is always willing to help you out. He gives a lot of grace if you work hard. It's not an easy class but it's worth every minute!
Dr. Jenkins is one of the most difficult professors at Lee, but his knowledge of the Christian faith makes him essential! Must take Jenkins at least once before you graduate! He's an incredible professor. He makes you think about the faith and helps you develop your ideas. Great for apologetics.
Jenkins gets a lot of crap for being a hard teacher bu the truth he makes you work. it's a fair work load and what you take away from every class is more than worth it. Have to take Jenkins at least once before you graduate. No teacher cares about their students more than Jenkins.
Dr. Jenknins' knowledge about church history and the formation of early doctrines has blown me away. I learned more in one class that I learned all semester with some teachers. His classes are difficult but not impossible. It's addictive! He'll make you fall in love with theology!
He is an amazingly intelligent man. He'll make you want to switch majors. He is challenging, but not impossible. This is college, so just suck it up and do a college amount of work. If you put effort into the class, you will get so much out of it.
I've been to 4 universities, had 8 majors, taken over 140hrs of classes, & I have never met a better professor than Skip Jenkins. He pushes you to grow as a student, but partners with you in the journey & genuinely cares about not only your academic career, but who you're becoming in the process. If you have the chance to take him, DO!
His expectations are high but as long as you do the work, you will do great. Also, if you learn by pictures and drawings, Skip's class is for you!
Man, this professor - one of the best at Lee. Really teaches you how to think. People say he's hard, but honestly ... he treats you like you have a brain instead of spoon-feeding. He makes me not regret going to Lee.
Dr. Jenkins, def one of the most intriguing, and strong Professors I have met. His classes, as always, have been very strong, and fun....I also wonder if when parousing Wikipedia, he knew - That the Cappadocians are a clan of vampires from White Wolf Game Studio's role-playing games Vampire: The Dark Ages and Vampire:-lol-Fyi-R.Brewer
Arrogant. His "edgy" theology feeds into the sheltered minds of COG kids who love him and completely eat it up--accurate or otherwise--and he knows it. He gets off on being the reason kids shift their opinions away from their parents'.
Please...please take any class you can with Dr. Jenkins. He is a total boss who will tear you a new one theologically if you say something dumb. SO GREAT!!!! I learned so much about the heritage and development of the Christian faith.
He has high expectations and wants the best for his students. But if you do the work and put in the effort you will do well. He is very intelligent and has very wise things to say.
Skip is a fantastic teacher- there is NO denying that. However, people on this campus practically worship him, which I find incredibly problematic. This class will broaden your horizons and you will probably learn more than you have in any other class. Just remember that he is just a man and everything that comes out of his mouth is not gold.
HARDEST TEACHER AT LEE!
Skip is a wonderful professor, he really invests into his students. A lot of people have spoken crap about him, but I don't see why. All of his lectures are interesting. Yes, there are a lot of readings and 1 page PRP's, but that's college for you. He is also hilarious!
Do not take Skip without expecting to put in the hours. He is a great professor, but this is by no means an easy class to just get by in. The papers you do are technically one page but with the formatting you use they are more like 3 or 4. No exams until the final, overall good professor though.
This might be the most arrogant person on campus. He is brash and says whatever he wants. I appreciate that he wants you to think but his style did not work for me. If your a religion major, take him. If not, run away.
1 of Lee's BEST! The 1st day of class, he claimed he's the best teacher of theology. Was put off at 1st, but pay no attention. He'll prove himself correct . He's also a VERY humble person, contrary to popular opinion. WILLING 2 help you succeed! Take him. Knows his material thoroughly. Very funny. Lots of reading. Don't fall behind. Good looking ;)
I took Intro to Theology with skip, and it was amazing!
Does not beat around the bush about ANYTHING, which is refreshing.
Skip is the best professor I have had at Lee. I'm not even in the School of Religion with my major, but he makes difficult information easy for me to understand. Don't take his class if you aren't game for asking why and learning what you believe. Skip seriously brings it. I am humbled to have been one of his students. Legend.
You either like him or you hate him. I think Skip has changed my entire view of what it means to be a Christian. He really cares about his students, even if he comes off like he doesn't. He is hilarious and I recommend watching Star Wars before taking his class in order to fully get his analogies. He is the best!
Dr. Jenkins is an engaging lecturer, really understands the material he is teaching, & a very wise man who will help you think deeply about what you believe. If you read "The End of Apologetics" by Penner, really take the time to dig in. It is a little overwhelming and hard to understand at first but also VERY worth the time to understand.
Skip is one of the only teachers at this school from which I have actually learned anything substantial. I learned more in that class than in just about all of my other classes combined. The final is difficult, but as long as you take notes and study you can pass!
DO NOT BE FOOLED. Negative reviews of this professor have been deleted off the site. Unless you have a love for theology, do not take this class.
Skip has been one of the most influential professors that I've had here at Lee. I've taken several of his classes and I have grown so much through all of them. His classes are not easy, but worth the effort. Skip is always willing to work with you and to help you improve provided you are willing to put time and effort into it yourself.
As a Journalism major, I found this class to be challenging but very, very interesting! I pulled out with an A and found myself believing that every Christian should have a little intro into theology - it's like its own universe! Skip is pretty cool and he doesn't shove his beliefs down your throat. Have fun reading and writing!!
He's so respectable. Not hard. Understands his students. Hates to be called Skippy and Skipper. Has a fun personality. Hilarious.
He's very rude and hateful.
Skip is an excellent lecturer and one of the most intellectual professors I've had at Lee. If you take his class, prepare to be challenged academically and spiritually. You get out of it what you put in.
Skip is probably my favorite professor! He keeps you engaged, his lectures are great, and his personality is perfect for a lecture hall. One on one meetings are something I definitely recommend whether about class or something else. The quizzes are easy if you take good notes during the lectures. The final exam feels impossible but kinda worth it.
I loved Skips lectures and his class, I learned a lot but if you are looking for an easy A you will not get one in his classes. Skip really makes you work for a good grade, the only assignments I found easy was his PRPs. His quizzes are not easy and his only exam is really hard, because he ask really broad questions. Overall he is a great prof.
The best way to learn is to talk things out. Talk to other students. To prefectures. To Skip Himself. To other Professors. Taking good notes is not enough. It will help you get good scores on the quizzes, but it won't help you on the final which is all memorization. If you learn and understand it prior it won't be difficult cramming finals week.
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Brilliant man. Very hard class. Few tests, but 7 papers. Tough grading. I wont get the grade I wanted in this class, but I learned so much about the bible and God that I don't care.
This man loves his students and he loves theology, therefore he wants his students to learn theology and enjoy it. If you want to learn about the Christian faith, I would recommend taking IntroTheo. Get to know him outside of class and he will change your life, my time at Lee would not be the same without him. Overall, he is amazing!
I am a spanish (teacher) major so this class was a general core class. Kids should not have to work this hard for a class that is not their major. I took his online class so i may have done better on campus. My grades were every where, A, B, F on the first 3 papers. You don't get credit for effort, only for perfection. He wants critical thinking!
While he is a genius and extremely proficient in Theology, the expectations for this class are of a masters level course, & it is an intro 200 level class. Hours and hours of work per night. He graded me unfairly im my opinion, would stop replying to my emails, and our class average was painfully low. First C I've ever made, DO NOT take this class.
Skip is a really cool professor he engages the students in the material and encourages the exchange of ideas
I took his online theology class. I thought the difficulty level was over the top for a non majors class. He is a difficult grader and demands near perfection on the PRPs (papers) and quizzes. I managed a good grade, but it was a lot of work and very time consuming. He is very intimidating and I'm sure he means well, but I would avoid if possible.
Terrible. Very arrogant, won't help you. Literally only liked by people majoring in Theology and would like to be just like him. Just avoid.
Skip truly cares about his students and wants the best for them. You can't blow this class off and expect to get a good grade, but if you're willing to to the work assigned to you, you'll do just fine.
He is one of the smartest men you will ever meet. He is also one of the most arrogant. And prideful. And blunt. He also requires an absurd amount of busy work. There is also a HUGE final exam and final project. If you want to learn sound theology, he will teach it. But it will not be worth the amount of work he requires outside of class.
Great personality but a very tough class.
Skip is extremely smart and knows exactly what he is talking about and is brilliant in his field of work. But I can say that he is the hardest professor I have EVER had and the amount of work and studying required for most of his classes is almost unbearable. I have been a A student with only one B in my college time until I decided to take Jenkins
Many students will say Skip is a tough professor, but his class is so rewarding. You will have graduate assistants grading your work and they are always kind and helpful. You will read and write quite a bit, but it helps solidify the material. TAKE GOOD NOTES; you will use them on quizzes. I learned so much about my faith through this course.
Skip is the most faithful person I've ever encountered. I'll remember many things he said for the rest of my life.
Skip is one of the best professors I have ever had. While many say that he is "impossible" if you try your best you are sure to get a great grade. I love Skip!
This was the worst class I've ever taken with the worst professor I've ever taken. It's so unnecessarily difficult. I couldn't even learn what I needed to because I was too stressed about completing the work. I ended up dropping this class with a W because I couldn't handle studying every night for over 4 hours. Don't take this class.
He is one of the most arrogant people I've ever met. He is not an approachable guy at all and is very rude if you try and talk to him. If you don't take notes, you are sure to fail, so you have to go to every class.
There will be no chances to make-up missing assignments and the lecture videos are quite blurry. His level of expectation is great. Take another Theology professor if this is not for your major!
He is well respected and is extremely intelligent. Though the class carries a high level of difficulty. I'm finding this course an extremely heavy load, and if I were to have taken this course with this professor in the fall, there would definitely be a high chance of me dropping it. Overall, benefical, but the course does carry a lot of weight.
This is a very hard class (but when I took it it was a 1 month summer term, which can account for a lot of the difficulty), but I loved it. There are some long lectures and a lot of class debates and critical thinking. Jenkins really helped mold my debating skills and STRENGTHEN my faith.
Not happy that I had him as my teacher. Hes way to hard for a non-theology major. Im sure he would be good for a theology major, but I absolutely hated him as my teacher. To much homework and lectures (which are so hard to follow)
1-month online session. He only graded two things during the course, which made it difficult to know if I was on the right track; however, I did get an A (barely). Read ALL directions and ask questions. He will respond if you reach out. Tough, but not impossible. Be thorough in your answers. He knows what he's talking about & expects you to LEARN.
Skip Jenkins is a funny professor and will make you laugh, but the class itself is rough. The things that are on exams are not what he talks about in class (although he says it was discussed in class) & you'll have to read a lot for the quizzes. Would not recommend- tests are so hard bc they cover things he never covered in class
If considering taking this class with Jenkins, rethink your decision. He teaches this NT class as if it were theology making it unnecessarily hard. The tests are difficult and are only over what he says in class even if those things are said for only a brief second. Be prepared to have no idea how to study for your exams and unenjoyable lectures.
One of the worst teachers ever. I learned nothing and all the online stuff did not make sense to me. I would suggest you never take him.
I really struggled with keeping up sometimes because he always has a lot that he can say about basically everything in his field, but he slows down if you have clarification questions. I expected to go in not wanting to pay attention, but he is really engaging and amusing to watch (he once missed his chair sitting down). It is so worth it.
Had him for a 25-day summer session, which made the courseload pretty heavy. Thought he was mad at me for the longest time until I realized it's just the way he enunciates & that he doesn't smile a lot -- but in reality, he's a great guy!! Super friendly & easygoing in real life! Will be gracious if you get behind. Very clear expectations.
This professor is extremely intelligent and knows his stuff! On the other hand, for this summer course I just took with him, expect 2-3 hours PER DAY AT LEAST of work for him and make sure you are ready for lots of essays and a final exam that is very very difficult. One good thing I will say is that his directions for assignments are clear.
I had Dr. Jenkins for summer school in June. Long story short, Jenkins is a fantastic professor, and I would take him again if I could. Very passionate about his discipline, tender-hearted, and kind professor. Even though the class was one month, it was very rigorous (about 5-7 hours of work per day). Do the work, study, read A. Take Jenkins!
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken at Lee University. I was taking this through the summer and I understand there would be some difficulty, but this was plain ridiculous. And I also didnt learn a single thing because we had SO MUCH pointless work! Dr. Jenkins is a professor I would never recommend! I was disappointed in this class!!
Many people dont like Jenkins. But, he is one of my favorite professors! While he may be a hard grader, he is also always available and truly wants to see you succeed and is passionate! If someone didnt pass this class they didnt care enough to put in the work! To which I would ask why are you even in college?. HIGHLY recommended taking him!
Dr. Jenkins is very knowledgeable, but I think he forgets he teaches a freshman New Testament class because I found myself keeping a dictionary open while trying to comprehend his lectures. His tests are only over the lecture material, the reading is for quizzes. Final exam exemption if you have an A and perfect attendance. Some extra credit.
Skip is a very smart guy, and he for sure knows it. He's super arrogant and went on rants multiple times about how we were doing bad and didn't deserve scholarship money if we couldn't make an A in his class. Only grades are weekly quizzes and the 4 exams. Quizzes are over a chapter of reading and are easy, exams are super hard. Take any other prof
Please don't take this class. He talks about a lot of things making it difficult to take notes and even more difficult to know exactly what it is that you're supposed to be learning. I had to bust my butt to pass. I cannot stress this enough. do not take this class.
Dr. Jenkins requires so much reading, and there are so many quizzes. His exams are very difficult, and he insists you take notes by hand (no computers allowed). He is also really strict about attendance.
Skip is the worst professor I have ever had. Prepare to put in more effort than you ever have for a class and still worry about not passing. The way he explains theology makes no sense to anyone who is not a Theologian.
I believe everyone that comes through Lee University should take History Of Christianity, as Skip "The Drip" Jenkins helps you understand why church history is so important and how to apply it to your life now. He expects you to do the assignments, but besides his sometimes intimidating demeanor, no one cares more about students than him.
I went into this class with an open mind despite the previous ratings I had seen. Skip is a kind person and is passionate about the material but the course work was not easy. He gives a quiz every Friday and you MUST read the chapter each week in order to pass the quiz. Exams are difficult and you must study in order to pass. Takes attendance daily
Borderline heretic. He teaches that the blood of Jesus was not necessary for forgiveness. I could go on with the controversy. He debated me when I backed up with scripture that Jesus sacrifice was necessary and told me that the verse I cited was was satire. Unbelievable. Get ready to work your ass off too. You wont pass if you miss class.
Skip is a little all over the place and may have some controversial views, but overall I quite enjoyed the class. He gives a quiz on Friday, and the lowest 2 grades get dropped. This is the only day every week you have homework and the chapters arent that hard to read. Hes really funny and every class with him is interesting. It is an easy A
skip is one of the reasons I enjoy theology. some of his topics may be controversial, but he is very passionate and from my experience is scripturally sound.
Professor Jenkins was ok, he is a tough grader and creates a work load that is stupid for any non-theology major. I took him for the 4-week online course, worst decision.
Professor Jenkins is hard, but an excellent professor. If you put in the work, you will learn more from him than from any other STM professor. You must be prepared to take notes. He teaches with a heavy leaning on the actual lecture material and doesn't rely on visual aid. Overall, he's a fun guy who loves to teach and treats his students well.
Literally my best friend. Go get lunch with him or something.
so controversial. i disagree with everything he says (i'm baptist and he called me crazy for it). you cannot miss class. he screams at you. he doesn't make sense. he won't explain things in simple terms. this is INTRO to theology and it's so hard. i'm a psych major why do i have to take this class. get me out please
Skip Jenkins, the professor in the STM department where dreams go to die in his classroom. He is a hard professor, expects students to be equally knowledgeable, and penalizes students harshly on grades when expectations are not met. I will never recommend him, nor do I wish my worst enemy to take his class.
As a person, he's pretty decent but not as much as a prof. Lectures are very confusing so I didn't learn much about theology which impacted my grade. A very tough grader and doesn't allow technology including laptops and will call you out if he sees it so be prepares to take notes on paper. He will also yell at you in class if you disagree with him
Skip does not work with or help the students understand theology at all. Every class is pure lecture and there are no ppts. Somehow you are supposed to write down everything that is said (impossible). I am too worried about making sure I have the correct information down that I don't have time to understand the point he is trying to make.
Skip teaches this class as if it's not an introduction class for non religious majors. Takes off participation points just because you don't talk in class which is ridiculous. Assignments are graded very harshly, asks too much for each assignment, and takes off points for stuff that they didn't even ask for.
Do not take this class unless you are prepared to speak in every lecture. Grading is not clear he takes off points for random things and grades you on your personal notes from the lecture (these are not 100s you have to have ALL information including examples and he lectures all 50 mins every class. DO NOT TAKE
He has you do open note quizzes that apply to your final exam, so I suggest doing them! He is a great lecturer just content heavy :)
Do not come in thinking this course will be like NT and OT, it is not. Write everything that is said, do the extra readings, and do the optional quizzes. If you put in the work and have frap n yaps, the class will be easier to do. He has strong opinions and makes you question what you believe, so prepare. Don't even think about skipping class.
Skip Jenkins seems to believe that everyone is a theology major. He made me dread reading the Bible and attending class. He graded incredibly harshly, and so did his TA. As someone trying to attend med school, he made my GPA drop, and I had a better grade in difficult science classes than in this class. Do not take classes with Jenkins.
