the greatest writing teacher I have ever had!!! very straightforward with assignments and material. excellent at answering questions. gives plenty of time to do assignments. not very nit-picky about punctuation errors, spelling, etc.on first two essays. lets you know exactly what he wants and what to expect. I recommend him to everyone.

very easy grader. i did the first two essays the night and morning before and still got A's on both. very understanding with the college student's bad habits and hangovers. and, teehee, he has an earring.

Great teacher! Very helpful comments. Not to picky on grading. Have reading quizes, which are easy. 5 to 7 page research paper. Just about 3 other papers that have to be 2-3 pages long. So hes really not that hard. Very easy to get along with. Great Comp 2 teacher. If his class is full get into Doshie Chandler class. Its even easier.

I thought he did a good job helping students prepare for all assignments. Essays were graded fairly, if not easy. You were given the chance to make the grade you strived for.

I absolutly love this teacher. He is so nice and considerate of others. There are 5 essays that are written and 10 easy quizzes if you read the text. He helps you when you are having difficulty understanding something. He gives lots of handouts that go over his reading assignments. Very helpful teacher. Very funny and cute too. He's an actor.

Not a bad teacher but he's kind of annoying to listen to a lot. He tries to make writing exciting but he doesn't accomplish it, at least for me anyway. He is an easy A though if you do your work and your able to write a decent paper.

Awsome teacher. Hippy kinda guy. Loves literature and makes reading this stuff kinda cool. Only picks out the classic stuff. Great way to take Comp 2.

Mr. Davis is a nice instructor. His work assignments are simple and clear. He is very helpful. He used blackboard on a weekly basis. His quizs were easy only as long as you read the assignments. He was good on having group participation, as well as showing videos/movies of some of the plays/poems that were assigned to be read. He is open minded.

Great teacher!!! Had him for Comp I and am going back to him for Comp II. Assignments were easy if material was read. Papers were pretty easy as well. He also requires a 50 pg journal.

He has a good sense of humor, class is fun. I am taking him for comp l and am going to take him for comp II

Fantastic Teacher. You have to attend class to take a quiz each week. These points add up. My writing improved with each assignment. Sorry that he is not teaching Comp 2 this summer. I would have loved having him again. He is a first rate teacher.

Great teacher. I will be taking his Comp 2 in the fall. Mandatory that you read assigned reading material, but offers a lot of "Easy" work to do. Only had 4 essays to write, and he explained everything very thoroughly.

Excellent professor. I highly recommend. I went into this class very scared, he walked us through everything, very thorough and explained everything. I got A's on all essays thanks to his study groups in class & peer review workshops.

I took this professor for both Comp I & Comp II. I LOVED this class and I was sad when I actually had to miss. Yes, he is a professor so he expects you to do the work, but the assignments are so hard that you can't accomplish them. His teaching methods are laid back & easy to learn from. Wish i needed more classes with him, he is my 1st pick!!

He is by far the best professor at this school. Very informative. He explains everything and makes class a breeze whether you can write or not; you will come out of this class with more knowledge than you went in with. I took him for Comp I, Comp II, and Film & Lit. I highly recommend him!!!!

LOVED THIS CLASS! I am horrible at English and don't have much of an interest in it. Sloan made it interesting and fun. I understood more than I ever have from any other English teacher, and was able to actually enjoy going to the class. As long as you keep up with the assignments you wont have a problem. Very helpful teacher, very nice, VERY INTERESTING. Never a dull moment with him and I had him once a week for 3 hours at a time for Literature and Film (Humanities) I would take any class of his in a heart beat.

I enjoyed every drop; the teacher and methods, class discussions, reading and writing assignments, & the whole theme. I liked learning about history through assignments. It prompted me to do my own research on many occasions. Ended up being a huge influence on my decision of continuing school for longer than I had planned. TAKE HIM if you can!

Sloan is an excellent instructor that I enjoyed every bit of. His work was challenging, but fair just pay close attention and keep up. I would recommend everybody to his class.

Took the 8 week online academic strategies class and so glad that I did!! Assignments are posted on the syllabus from day one. Each week you are asked to do roughly 4-5 assignments which are easy! Professor leaves excellent feedback.

Prof. Davis is a knowledgeable and responsible instructor. I like the style that he teaches: reading, class discussion, four essays, peer-review, and feedback through a whole semester, and you have an opportunity to rewrite your paper. He is a very kind and helpful instructor and gives you a lot of valuable feedback. I highly recommend this prof.

Davis is a great teacher for comp 1. He's very enthusiastic and comical. He's willing to help if anyone needs it and you only have to type 4 essays all semester and are able to rewrite one of them if needed. Show up for class and it's a fairly easy A.

I hate writing and I LOVED his class. Sloan is not only the coolest English teacher I have ever had but he is also the best English teacher I have ever had. He really wants his students to excel.

He is the best teacher I have ever had. He never lectures, he says he doesnt believe in it. He is SO helpful,& extremely lenient and so nice. You write 3 essays, and you get to rewrite. We only had short things to read as homework for quizzes, and we mostly did groupwork. He gives sample essays with every essay showing you how to do it. TAKE HIM!

I took the academic strategies 4 week online class. It was a lot of busy work. Textbook was free and online. Class had a total of 10 discussions, 2 open book tests, 4 journal entries, and 10 assignments including an essay. The class was easy for four weeks. I would recommend this class to other students.

Professor Davis is really passionate about what he teaches. He makes you critically think on each reading. This class required you to make connections within the readings. He helped me with my grammar with great feedback. This class did take time and effort to get a good grade. I took the 8-week class, it moved fast and required a lot, but was good

Professor Davis is honest, fair, and always willing to help if you have questions or problems. His Comp 2 class included many small group discussions over the reading materials, and he values students' perspectives on the subjects. This was not a blow off course, but it is wonderful for building critical thinking. I highly recommend his class.

Comp II was amazing with him. It is more of a critical thinking class. He by far the best professors I've ever had. I highly recommend him!!!

Great professor. Had fun in his class. Very engaging and very helpful. Not a bunch of pointless writing assignments, but about 75% of your grade is tied to three major papers plus the written final so you've got to do the work on every paper or you won't pass.

Prof. Davis is pretty great. His classes are always interesting. If you liked book club in high school you will love his classes. Just make sure you're there 100% of the time and DO NOT PUT THINGS OFF UNTIL LAST MINUTE.

Light workload, in class you have group discussion over reading assignments, if your confused Mr. Sloan elaborately answers individual & group questions. When writing major papers he offers class tips, study guides & office hours(responsive to email). He is hilarious, insightful, & wants you to succeed. Easy class, but you must read & do the work.

This class isn't difficult, but you do have to work for your grade. By no means are you going to pass by slacking off. This class is a critical thinking class, so you have to find the significance of every detail. He is clear on what he expects from you. Not a hard class, you just have to put the effort in it.

He is awesome. Took for Comp I and II and would take again. Really laid-back, very helpful. Lots of in class literature analysis which can get repetitive but I mostly enjoyed it. Attendance is not mandatory but does affect grade.

Professor Davis is an awesome instructor. For the online class, everything was set up for us by week and he put a lot of effort into the class and it shows. I have taken F.Y.E.S in person previously with another instructor and it didn't work for me. I highly recommend doing it online and considering Professor Davis as your instructor.

I took him for Short Story Writing online. He gives great feedback and responds to emails within the day. If you participate in discussions and your work shows you put effort into it, you should pass with a really good grade. I would definitely take his class again.

Professor Davis was very helpful when it came time to grade essay's. He was very detailed in his comments. He cares about the students and wants them to be the best writers they can be. Really recommend because he is a funny professor that does not just go off of PowerPoints or a book. He is a cool professor to take.

I took Professor Davis for my online Comp II course and it was great! He had a great set up for the class, which included a discussion board assignment each week and then four essays that you had plenty of time to write and get feedback on before turning in your final draft. I would definitely take this professor again!

Professor Davis is a great teacher of Composition. He wants to ensure that you know how to properly dissect pieces of literature. He is available to discuss any issues you may be having with writing the essays that he assigns. You must do the work to pass the class! No effort equals No Pass.

Professor Davis is outstanding. I have taken his class twice once for comp 2 and then again for humanities. If I could continue taking his classes I would. He truly cares about the success of his students and is always available and willing to help you understand the materials he teaches

This class has a heavy homework load. But it will be interesting and you will learn so much. Prof. Sloan is awesome and wants you to succeed. I loved the required reading and it was thought provoking. 4 essays and multiple reading assignments. They are doable just do not get behind. Research paper was the biggest essay. I would retake this class

Professor Davis is an awesome professor. His assignments are easy to understand and he will answer any questions you have. There are stories/articles/poems that you read and answer questions over and a few essays throughout the course. I took his comp 1 class online and liked it so much I took his comp 2 class the following semester.

Professor Davis gives great feedback on writing assignments! Reading seems heavy at the beginning, but it's really not that bad. Make sure to follow directions. Discussions are a big part of the grade, participation matters! If you have questions professor Davis will help with anything except final paper.

Sloan Davis really changed my perspective of college. I grew not just as a writer in this class but as a student. When attending his class I decide to take a break from school for a couple years to find what I really wanted to do with my life and will be going back here soon. He really pushes the mind of his students to truly express themselves.

Professor Sloan is hands down one of the best professors I've had in college so far! Sloan definitely helped me become a better writer without being super tough on grading and negative feedback. Having a great professor makes a big difference. Also, if you put in the effort and time, you will pass. His classes are also interesting and fun!

One of the best professors I've ever had. We only did 5 essays all semester, but he provides all the resources and help you'll ever need, and he always gives amazing feedback on assignments. Attendance is mandatory, but if you miss > 4 days you can rewrite an essay for full credit at the end of the semester to raise your grade. 10/10 recommend.

I have taken Professor Sloan twice and I would take a class from him again. His classes are challenging but have greatly furthered me in my academic career.

The course is well-designed and the workload is reasonable. I will say that I felt as though some information from assignments were worded poorly to convey expectations, and he was not receptive to feedback on what specific wording was confusing. Beware of deadlines hidden in the middle of the syllabus and know feedback can be snarky at times.

Professor Davis was absolutely incredible. The class is reading and homework heavy, so make sure to set aside adequate time for studies. No final exam near the end of class, but there was an essay in its place. I would love to take another class from Professor Davis, no questions asked.

I took this online- 16 weeks. It was a super easy class. At the beginning, there's readings and then a discussion board. There's 4 papers in total for the class. Professor Davis is SUPER kind and gives all rubrics, instructions, and materials. He posts everything ahead of time so you're able to work ahead. Easy A, just submit your work on time.
