She has a very strong accent and treats us like we are still in kindergarten. She'll ask everyone to write something down and then we will ALL have to share. (It's a class of like 50). Boring boring boring and she just banned computers from the classroom.
She's nice, never very much homework. Kind of rambles about random stuff, but just study from the book and you'll do well--the tests are easy. Nice woman, strong accent. I would take her again.
Very easy, tests come straight from the book or assigned articles. Mandatory marketing plan.
i really enjoyed her class. She made the material seem easy and clear. She always had a video to help us understand the topic she was about to teach. highly recommended
She's a good teacher. I really enjoyed this class. I really liked all of the videos she made us watch because it helps break up the class time. The tests are easy as long as you study what she puts on the study guides.
Solid class, solid teacher. Tests come from powerpoints, and she posts a study guide prior to each test. There is a mandatory marketing plan at the end of the semester which is a big portion of your grade. Overall a good class with not much work required.
Attendance Mandatory. Hard to understand. You use the book a lot but most of the tests are from the notes. Tests aren't too difficult. The group project is 40% of your grade and she never tells you what you get on it. It was difficult to sit through her lectures but you see a video every class which is fun. Not hard, but take at your own risk
I think she's awesome teacher. You don't even need to buy the Text cause the tests come from her Powerpoints. She gives you what material is going to be on the Test. She does take attendance be aware!
Great teacher. Very clear in explaining concepts and very helpful when speaking after class or in office hours. Tests are based off her study guides but you need to read the book to do well on the tests--only read the parts that she puts on the study guide though. Good class, solid teacher, not a ton of work but go to class and study moderately.
Easy teacher, engaging, keeps class interesting.
A very nice and easy going person. Class can get a little boring at times as Marketing has jargon for even the most simple concepts. Pay attention in class and review the textbook to get a good grade. The professor is knowledgeable and willing to help anyone. She takes attendance, so beware of that
She is an interesting and easy professor. SHe keeps class engaging and if you really listen to her, you are not bored at all. Tests are not that hard at all. And even if you skip the class you can find all information in the text book. She is a very nice professor.
Professor Kulkarni is extremely knowledgeable of the subject and she has a real world example for every concept she teaches. She makes sure to keep you engaged throughout the entire course and she is always available for office hours. Tests aren't bad at all as long as you pay attention to her lectures
Class was clear, to the point, and interesting. She's a nice lady and as someone stated, she offers good real-world examples for all the various concepts. Focus HEAVILY on the text, do read every chapter and take your own notes apart from lecture notes. If you read every chapter, take good notes, and memorize the notes you'll get an A.
She is a great teacher! She gives examples for everything and makes sure you understand it all. Pay attention because she'll ask you your opinion on topics. She likes when people get involved. Overall, she's extremely nice and very knowledgeable. Definitely take her!
Dr. Kulkarni is a great teacher. She makes it very easy to understand the basics of marketing. She teaches off of her powerpoints, but uses real world examples to get you to understand. No homework. Tests aren't difficult. Two group projects are very easy. Absolutely take her if you can.
Definitely take her!! She is an amazing professor who clearly wants her students to succeed. She shows videos almost every class based on the topic being discussed, making class much more interesting as she relates the material to the outside world.4 non cumulative tests,2 group projects. Amazing person/professor, take her if you can!!
She is the greatest professor I have had the pleasure of taking. The class she teaches is very clear and straight forward. The tests, as long as you take her study guide and make it as detailed as possible, an A or high B is definitely possible.
She was a decent teacher but I did not enjoy this class. Expect to memorize a bunch of ridiculous, meaningless marketing jargon (i.e. 7-step communications process). She does have a tendency to ramble on during class but thankfully she hands out study guides listing all of the material you need to know for the exams.
Pretty helpful. She provided study materials on blackboard and was always available in her office. Class was awful, though. Kulkarni rambles on ENDLESSLY during lectures and gives a boatload of examples and you have no idea what material is unimportant and what you need to know. The textbook is filled with a bunch of useless crap, too.
Had her at 9am but she made class entertaining by almost always showing a 5-10 minute video. Gives out study guides for each test. She is kind of a harsh grader, but read the chapters and master the study guide and you'll be all set.
Professor Kulkarni is a great professor and every class is relevant. She grades harshly on the group projects however so spend extra time on those to make sure they are great. Her tests are difficult but it is nothing that she hasn't covered in class, so make sure to pay attention. Easy B but a little extra push is needed to get the A.
Ms. Kulkarni is a great professor and her class is easy if you read all the material and listen in class. There were four tests and two group projects. She stresses participation and attendance. She knows her stuff and is willing to give you feedback if you ask for it. Just attend class and ask for clarification if you need, and you'll do fine.
My least favorite professor. Class content is really annoying. Funny accent. She is willing to help if you ask for it. Always take attendance. You almost need to memorize the whole text book in order to take her exams.
I loved her as a professor. She is incredibly helpful, and I learned a lot about marketing.
Follow the rubric strictly for the projects. Memorize any kind of chart, table, etc for the test and you'll be fine. Participation is worth way more than I would have liked for it to have been. She also seemed to ignore the emails I sent her during the semester. The course is overall very easy.
Highly recommend her. The tests and lectures are completely based on the textbook so read that but class is helpful because she's straight forward and gives examples. There are a few group projects but she gives a good amount of time for them.
Take her!! Her lectures follow the book and she gives detailed study guides for tests plus a practice test during class so you know exactly what to expect. She assigns two projects and as long as you follow the rubric, you will get a good grade. She is very helpful and you can tell she knows what she is talking about.
Professor Kulkarni is a great professor! She is very nice, and is always willing to help. Lectures are great because she shows relevant commercials/ads to enhance the material. There are 2 group projects. She gives you practice exams with a similar format to the exam. Exams are not hard if you study.
Lectures are clear and interesting with lots of current examples. Material is very simple and easy to understand. If everyone made an effort to participate it would actually be a fun class. 2 group projects that are annoying but doable. Tests aren't bad as long as you study. Use the book to supplement because she rushes through topics sometimes
TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!! just show up to every class, participate as much as you can and pay attention in class and you will do well. The tests are straight from the power points. She is really nice and helpful but she gets frustrated when no one participates which is understandable.
There are lots of group projects in this class so beware of that. This professor is kind of rude and doesn't create the best learning environment. That said, the material is not too difficult where it should make a big difference.
A great professor. She keeps the class very engaging by showing examples of current marketing problems. Very easy grader and the final is not cumulative !!!
she really knows what she is talking about. easy and great class, you learn a lot. study guides are given for every test-- use them and you will get an A. two group projects, pretty easy. she is awesome!
She is very clear and even gives study guides for exams so you know what to study. Read the textbook for exams and you're fine. The group projects are difficult so make sure to get a good group.
Prof Kulkarni is extremely nice & knowledgeable. Each lecture is detailed and clear. She uses examples of videos, social media, etc. to make it relatable to the students. She gives a practice test and study guide before each of the 3 exams. She gives rubrics and is accessible outside of class for projects. Put in the work & it will be an easy A.
Dr Kulkarni is really nice. She lectures off of ppts but throws in videos and encourages discussion (don't worry, I didn't participate much and still did well) which makes it more interesting. Review ppts for exams and you won't need the textbook. Group projects. Overall pretty easy class.
Fairly easy, projects are a little tedious, but almost no homework and tests are fairly easy. Class is enjoyable, she's funny and shows a lot of video clips
The exams are super easy. She gives you a study guide right before and a practice test. There are two group projects. Theyre pretty annoying but if you ask her any questions shes happy to help.
She is such a great professor! Her exams are based off of her power points that she posts online! She makes the classes and lectures very interesting, one of my favorite professors so far!
I love Kulkarni! Her class is super interesting and she makes it easy to participate. You have to go to class, but I actually enjoy going. You can tell she really cares about her students and will take the time to help you if you need it. There are tests and two group projects. The tests are a little hard, but if you study the PPT's you'll be fine.
She is one of the best professors at the university and really enjoys teaching the subject. She uses lots of videos to really hammer in her points. Two group projects but they are easy if you pick a good group.
Not inspirational at all. Thick accent. Class is very boring.
Would definitely take again. Very clear and really cares about her students.
I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot. Not boring
Amazing prof would 100% take again. Participation is important and she asks very reasonable questions. Completely accessible outside of class and is willing listen and work with you. Pretty simple tests, just read the her notes, supplement with textbook and you're golden. Attendance is key as she teaches well and gives great supplementary videos!
AMAZING LADY TAKE HER!
Professor Kulkarni is awesome. One of my favorite professors at UM. She is super kind and accommodating. She is super clear with her expectations and what you are responsible for, so it's a matter of if you follow through. Group projects: start ASAP and divide the work. For tests, read the textbook and you'll be fine. I recommend taking her class.
Professor Kulkarni is a great professor! She's very clear about what will be on the tests and what is expected for group projects. For tests she gives study guides that are very helpful! Her class is actually interesting. I had her at 8:00 am Mon, Wed, Fri and I actually enjoyed going to class!
Really nice lady, makes class not so boring.
Professor Kulkarni is the sweetest lady ever! She is so kind and really cares about her students. She found some way to make marketing engaging. She has 3 tests total, including the final which ISN'T cumulative and 2 easy group projects. Definitely take her, especially if you are on the fence about which sector of business you want to major in!
She's a really great marketing professor but is a bit old-school on her marketing knowledge, especially relating to social media marketing.
Professor Kulkarni is a great professor! Fairly easy exams and the final is not cumulative. Rarely gives homework except to read cases from the textbook. Definitely recommend.
Prof Kulkarni is a kind and caring professor. The class is kind of common sense at times, so class gets a little boring. There is no homework in the class, 3 tests including the final, and 2 group projects. Just study notes and powerpoints and you'll do fine
The class and subject matter are simple enough. She takes attendance but you don't really need her lectures. Her tests come straight from the powerpoints she posts online. She's an ok teacher.
Prof. Kulkarni is so nice! She makes class pleasurable and interesting. Her tests and projects are fairly easy and the class is engaging and clear. You work with a group on 2 big projects at the beginning and end of the semester and you can't change groups between projects, this was fine for me but it could be stressful for others. Great professor!
Not a fan. Yes, she can be nice, but she takes her class too seriously and lessons can often get really boring, predictable, and robotic. Felt treated like a high schooler, with the rules being too uptight, behavior-based, and "by the book." If you want a decent grade take her, but don't expect to develop any interest in Marketing.
Dr. Kulkarni is the kindest professor I've ever had. She genuinely cares about your performance and progress and is always ready to help if you need her. The class is easy to understand and exams are straightforward. The two group projects are pretty intensive but she lays out her expectations clearly and grades fairly. Definitely take her!
Professor Kulkarni was the best, she is so sweet. She really values participation, so be sure to show up to class, and you can't really use your phone at all. But, you don't really need to pay attention to the lectures to do well-- she gives study guides before the tests, just read through the textbook topics on the study guide and you'll be good.
Prof Kulkarni is a sweet, caring person but her lectures are pretty boring. The class itself is introductory and isn't really "fun," but the professor could have done more to make it interesting. She randomly calls on people to participate during lectures, so you have to pay attention. Tests are pretty hard, but she does give you a study guide.
She is overall a nice person, but she gets annoyed when people don't participate right away. I understand the annoyance, but .2 seconds after she finished her questions she would say "cmon guys wake up" before any of us had a chance to process her question. For that reason only I probably won't be taking her class again
She is a nice woman, but her lectures are boring and bland, did not enjoyed her class. OLD-SCHOOLED, won't let you use technology and calls you out to participate. Tests are pretty hard and long, could not finish one ever. Beware of your group project members- chose them wisely BECAUSE THEIR FEEDBACK AFFECTS YOUR GRADE A LOT.
Nice lady. Exams are not a representation of study guide, textbook, or what she says in class. Grades projects without input. Typos on exams which make it difficult to understand because you can't clarify. Information is outdated
Absolutely adore this woman! She is probably one of my favorite professors I have had in my college experience. She is super sweet and is very passionate about her teachings. I would 100% recommend it. Definitely not an easy A , but she is very fair!
Kind person, I would speak to her outside of class and make sure you are aware of her expectations. If you put in the effort you will definitely pass, but if you want an A you need to make sure you meet with her and go the extra mile. Marketing isn't very interesting to me but she does make the concepts accessable.
She was amazing!!!! I would recommend her to everyone!!
Professor Kulkarni is awesome. She makes lectures interesting with videos, class journals, etc. She always open to questions from students after class and is always happy to help. She's always encouraging students to participate too. Exams aren't too hard; they're as hard as any other exam would be, same as the material itself.
I love, love, love this teacher. She is to the point and awesome. Her lectures incorporate showing clips, this keeps it entertaining. Her tests are hard but to the point, she gives a study guide in advanced, and it details exactly what to study. Two group projects and 3 exams. Take her! You wont regret it. easy A
She is extremely sweet! She genuinely cares about her students, go to class participate a bit and study from the textbook and study guide and youll get an A. She wants the best for her students.
Unsure how I feel about her. Tests have trick questions but are easy if you study the topics she gives in the study guides. She is nice until people don't participate or use phones and then she will get mad/call people out. Told class that everyone is responsible for other group members in projects. Doesn't answer emails. I think she curved final.
She is a very nice woman who is very caring. The exams are pretty straightforward but some questions can throw you off and make you second guess yourself. If your going to go on your phone try and be discreet, she can get upset with it sometimes
She's OK.
Professor Kulkarni was so nice, as a marketing major I enjoyed taking her class. We saw a lot of things but overall she explains really good shes not a hard grader and exams are not hard.
Prof Kulkarni was my favorite professor this semester! Her lectures are a combination of slides, video examples, and discussions which keeps class entertaining. Attendance is important and reading the textbook can really help you do well on the tests. If you don't cram for her tests or procrastinate the projects an A won't be hard to get!
Professor Kulkarni is AMAZING! She cares about her students and she is accessible outside of class. Her lectures are cool because she plays videos to demonstrate what she is talking about and it makes it make so much more sense. The only hw she gives is to read small articles and classes are basically just watching vids and discussions about them.
The class is common sense. Honestly, if you pay attention during lectures, most things will a piece of cake. I really loved this class.
Professor Kulkarni is super understanding and genuinely tries to engage in her lectures. Although her exams are straightforward and pair well with the lectures, the group projects can easily make your grade suffer if you don't choose your group wisely.
Highly suggest taking her course. Knows her stuff. I didn't buy the textbook but it is required and I suggest buying it. Group projects are not hard at all. Exams are pretty straightforward when you use the study guides. Very caring and easy to talk/email. Try not to take an 8am but manageable. participate in discussions she will ask for ur opinion
Smita is honestly a great professor if you get on her good side. Don't be afraid to speak up during her lectures, she'll ask for your opinion and will end up liking you. Her tests are pretty straightforward, but you really need to study the textbook, or else you will not do well. Group projects are easy and lectures are fun.
I really liked this professor. She was very friendly and the material was always presented very clearly. The exams are not too hard but you do have to study in order to do well. Two group projects for the entire semester which were pretty interesting. She provides valuable feedback on projects and exams as well. Would totally recommend her!
There are two group projects, and three tests. Her lectures are kind of boring, but she plays a lot of videos which are always about interesting companies. The tests are somewhat difficult. Also, rarely ever homework.
She's great. Lectures are sometimes okay, but she uses videos which makes the class more interesting. participation is important, but she's so sweet and that makes it easy to participate.
She was super kind. Loved her students, and the work was very fair. Be careful when picking your group for your group projects because you could get stuck if the other group members want to do no work. Fun lectures with videos.
Super easy and fun. Goes through youtube videos for half of the class and group projects/quizzes are easy. No cumulative final, free A, and a fun professor.
The class is pretty straight forward. It's a solid class. Make sure you form a good group for projects since it is a group grade no matter the circumstances. Nice teacher and not a lot of work but be sure to participate to get all the points.
Lectures were very interesting by including lots of youtube videos and real world scenarios. Quizzes were a little bit on the harder side but you're fine in you study. Professor Kulkarni appreciates participation and will call on you randomly at times. Two group projects, make sure to choose good group mates as everyone gets the same grade.
Prof. Kulkarni is the kindest professor at UM. She truly cares about her students' learning experience and makes lectures fun with topical video examples. She is definitely tough on grading projects, but tests are so easy if you pay attention in class. 30 points of your grade is attendance and participation, so show up and talk.
She is a really nice professor for sure! Exams are not cumulative and mostly multiple choice with one or two short answer questions. Important to note that group projects are worth a lot so don't be afraid to reach out to her if your group is having issues. Lectures are very video based and can sometimes drag but she's the best at Miami.
my favorite professor. She speaks clearly, the class is interesting, and not too much homework. tests are based on real-world examples, and even if you don't study you will get it right because you went over it in class. watch a lot of vids in class that help understand the topics.need to participate but its easy because the questions are opinions!
By far my favorite teacher I have ever taken. I took her MKT 660 class which isn't listed. That said, she speaks clearly, has super interesting course work and not something where you get bored during class. One final exam and a project but the project wasn't hard but rather fun. Would take her again. She broadened my mind in the marking realm!
She is fantastic. Class is lecture heavy and many videos shown only in class are super helpful for understanding content. Two group projects to show your applicability of things learned in class, but very manageable as well as the 3 exams. She is lovely and urges participation. For an 8 am, she made my day start on a great note.
She's ok. Tests are hard and she's a tough grader. Go to class and participate if u wanna pass. Lots of homework and reading the textbook.
I took Dr. Kulkarni's Online MBA class. The coursework is completely juvenile, outdated, and pedestrian at best. Dr. Kulkarni failed to take what you could argue is the most creative and fun category of business (marketing) and turn it into the most boring non-thought provoking material ever.
Professor Kulkarni was overall good, she uses a lot of real world examples of marketing and she does a good job of getting through material. The class was a boring at times but the videos and projects made up for it, as I really enjoyed both projects she assigned. Class is very basic in terms of marketing, but still enjoyable. Minimal homework too
Great professor! Super caring and knowledgable. Make sure to read textbook for exams and you should be fine. She keeps lectures interesting by using examples. She is a tough grader when it comes to group projects though.
Professor Kulkarni was amazing she knew what she was talking about and her class was easy to understand, she tied in real world examples with her lectures to make it more interesting. shes a super sweet lady and super understanding! your grade us base off three exams, two group projects, and contributation to class. 10/10 would recommend
A very caring professor who offers a lot of ways to understand the material. Need to study a good amount for the exams as there is a decent amount of material. Does a good job of connecting concepts to real-world examples to put in a different perspective for students.
Lecture material felt very easy but then the tests were a bit hard for me. Work load was pretty light as your grade is based on three exams, two group projects, and then participation/attendance. She was very sweet and interesting to listen to in her lectures.
Very nice professor. Really cares about participation and will call on you randomly. Test questions are very specific and sometimes can be difficult. She provides a study guide which is helpful but you kind of need to read the textbook. T or F questions on the test are specific and easy to mess up. Choose project groups wisley
Professor Kulkarni is a great teacher who makes lectures engaging with real-world examples. While grading can be tough, especially on group projects, the class is manageable if you attend, participate, and use resources like Unstuck ai to supplement your studies.
This professor is not only kind and caring but also makes the class incredibly engaging. The course content was fascinating, and I learned so much thanks to her thorough and clear teaching style. On of the best Professor I have had. Loved the class.
She's a really nice person and if you try she wont fail you but its not a free A. Tests dont make much sense and are a bit tricky.
The course really made me fall in love with marketing. Professor Smita is great at her classes, well prepared, engaging, respecting the 15 min break rule. Some things can be confusing. The simulation I think was not very nice experience. Good thing it counted as participation points.
has a tough accent
Professor Kulkarni is an amazing professor. I looked forward to attending her class everyday. If you listen in class, which isn't hard because she's very engaging, you will do great on the tests. She has an accent but it's very easy to understand, coming from someone who usually struggles with that. I would 100% recommend.
This class is just a lot of material, and the tests are harder than the actual material. She is so nice and caring, it's really not a challenging class. The exam is not cumulative which is awesome. Just pay attention (she sometimes cold calls) and go to class and you will be fine. Her lectures are engaging and shows a lot of fun videos.
Overall amazing professor. Normally lighter on homework. Exams and quizzes are pretty easy just study before
EZ class, only discussions for HW, lectures are fun, she is engaging and gives actual examples. Class itself is ez, just study the terms from the slideshows for the test, as the tests are just definitions. pick group members wisely for the projects, and write a lot for each slide and you'll do good for the projects.
She is so sweet and her class is honestly not that bad. Focus on the slides when studying for tests and you will be fine. She makes the class super fun and teaches in a very straightforward way.
