Doesn't explain anything, just reads off the slides. Exams are nothing like the quizzes given in class. Have to correct her often.
She post notes on jump. She is very friendly and willing to help students. You don't have to attend class but I would suggest you do. She does sometimes add info to her notes that may be on exams.
Very nice and approachable, when you can reach her. Rarely answers her emails and makes mistakes often on exams/ tests. Would always forget to pick up my exam from the disability center (for exam anxiety) so I got my mark back late and had to remind her to mark it.
Excellent prof. Very friendly. Great explanations. Comes very well prepared. Very approachable and extremely fair. Wish I could take all my course with her.
She is one of the best prof in the university!!She is friendly and good in lecture.
Unhelpful, could barely understand, avoid at all costs, save your money
She was a good professor, although sometimes went through things a little too quickly. The textbook was optional to use. It really helped inforce the class material though.
Class is over all boring. She does come to class very prepared, and tries to be entertaining. Overall, not bad for a professor :)
Good professor. You need the textbook to reinforce the materials in the lectures. My tips for the exams: review practice questions from the book companion website, the textbook itself, and use online flashcards. The questions are mostly practical application of nutrition concepts.
Very easy course. The lectures aren't very important as I barely attended any and still received an A. The content of the course is very interesting and the two assignments are marked very fairly. I would highly recommend you take this class with her!
Took this class during the summer. Highly recommend her. Easy assignments and easy A's. Prof also took out 3 chapters on the final exam (only allowed for summer course). She also made an exam review made into a who-wants-to-be-a-millionaire type game. Explains everything clearly and everything you need to know is in her notes and lectures.
NUTRITION as a course is so very boring but you made interesting. missing your class was never an option
Funny, nice person. Helpful in her office hours. Class has no notes, all practice work. Textbook is all practice work too, so if you get the class don't bother buying it.
Friendly and helpful prof, explains everything clearly during class. Textbook helps, but isn't necessary. Threw a few trick questions on the final but the course material itself isn't that bad. Decent prof overall.
Very hard course. The prof said she would post slides that let us know what to focus on for textbook reading. However she never posted them on time. Absolutely impossible to get ahead or even stay on schedule in the course because she doesn't even post things according to her own schedule. Terrible at responding to emails.
i personally really liked her. Shes super nice and always made class fun. Definitely not boring! also had her for other nutrition classes. I would highly recommend her
COMPLETELY based off textbook. Tested on every word - ridiculous irrelevant quotes, etc. Her own poorly written (many mistakes) course notes contradicted textbook info. CONSTANTLY correcting wrong information she gave out. Horrible.
not particularly interesting , long , boring , and takes forever to grade tests.
She seems like a cool person as she insists you will not need the textbook for tests, only what we cover in class. Good luck keeping up or understanding anything she says though. The tests are DESIGNED for you to not do well, and I honestly mean this. As well, she never responds to her emails and doesn't show you her grading.
I just loved her way of teaching. Very friendly professor. Her lectures covered all the important stuff. Her notes were very precise and uploaded before time so that we have plenty of time to go through them even before the class. Course was amazing got a lot to learn and looking forward to live a better healthy lifestyle.
This prof can be little confusing but I highly suggest to go to every class cause the textbook is good for practice questions, not explanations. You mostly do examples in class and just hope you can learn the concepts through that. The midterm wasn't too hard but the final was a lot tougher. Just do as many practice questions as possible.
her exams are totally opposite from what she covers in class, chances are higher that MCQ's will have error, takes too long to post grades
Do your assignments, discussion posts, and study for the midterm you are guaranteed to do well in this class. Only real obstacle is the final paper. It relies on group work, so be organized.
only complaint I have is she forgets her microphone sometimes, tests are easy if you read the textbook and notes.
Try not runing your semester with her.
she is pretty cool with lectures, very very friendly with her students. i love her!
Dr. Dua's lectures were clear for the most part, but her lecture notes sometimes lacked information that later showed up on tests. Her methods of evaluation were fair, but the course content was a little heavy for a first year class. MC questions could also be very tricky, so make sure you really know the course material. Overall, an okay class.
If you want an A+, don't take this class with her. Take it online with the other prof. She is a nice prof and she does know her material. However; she tests things we barelydidn't even discuss in class. This course is taken as a GPA booster, but its not if you take it with her. If you write literally every word she says, you will get an A.
Elaborates on lecture slides in class, but tends to get side tracked. Attend class and take notes on what she talks about, but only the rambling that is relevant to that set of lectures; her exams are very fair and wont touch on her rambling topics. Very sweet lady and loves teaching nutrition. Very approachable and funny.
Dr. Dua is a really sweet and nice person. She adds a bit of humor during her lectures and she seems relaxed when teaching. She is pretty thorough with explanations sometimes rushing through content if she falls behind. Her midterm questions can be a bit tricky. Overall great professor.
The best
So funny! Such a nice lady too, take lots of notes of what she says and pay attention in class and you'll be fine. Easy A.
40+ long discussion posts worth 10% of online grade. Very hard to communicate with and contradicts her expectations constantly. 2 online tests (6-10 chapters on each), 30% each. Very textbook based, her notes are not helpful. Interesting class, an easy A if you do lots of work on your own. 2-4 chapters assigned per week to read. Cumulative final.
I would not recommend taking this class with her. Or any class.. Very confusing notes. easy midterms are at home. Final was very tough. Don't rely on the final to get you a good mark, go to the final with at least an A to get a good mark. Takes her time to reply to emails.
Dr. Dua was a very entertaining prof and kept you entertained during lectures by talking about her family or making fun of her husband. Grade was 2 midterms worth 15% and 20%, participation 10%, assignment 15%, and final worth 40%. Assignment was very pointless but easy marks. Final was very tough and a combination of everything.
The class was a breeze with her. No need to read the textbook. The exam and tests were all only from the slides. She shared many stories from her own life, which made otherwise boring lectures quite interesting. Definitely an easy A!
GREAT
One of the best profs! Explains concepts in a very easy manner. very helpful inside and outside class. notes are easy to understand, you would not have to go searching for a concept on the internet.
Great Professor to have! I had her for a summer course, and she made the class way more interesting and tried to relate every lecture to us. She doesn't read off of the slides, and many of her notes are from her lectures. If you study and attend her lectures, you shouldn't have a problem getting a good mark.
She is an amazing Proff. She is very friendly and she helps a lot outside class. She specifically tells you not to miss classes but even if you do she helps you understand the lecture if you meet her outside the class. I got a B in the course while others got A+ because I find this course boring but not the professor. She is one of the best.
One of the best professors at UofM. If you get a chance then do take STAT1000 from her and definitely you will receive an A+ or an A in this course from her. My friends have taken course from another professor and they found this course tough while I on the other hand got an A just by attending her class regularly. She helps you a lot!
Dr. Dua is one of the worst professors I've had. The course moves so slowly, she has to fill the time with pointless anecdotes that put you to sleep. You could not show up, read the notes once and pass. Dr. Dua's quizzes were often poorly written, and very confusing as well. I do not recommend this professor.
She's a really great professor that keeps you interesting if you come and listen to the lectures! Make sure you really study the slide notes and take note of examples she makes because it is very important for the exams. Additionally, if you have any questions DO NOT be afraid of asking because she is very open to answering them and quick too!
Made the lectures interesting with personal stories so three hours flew by (most times). Midterms are just memorization of the slides but the assignment is a little more tricky. Had a 98 for every assignment/midterm but also found the final tricky, still awaiting the grade.
I personally wasn't a fan. It's easy to get an A/A+ b/c the assignments are so easy. Understanding the concepts wasn't hard to grasp BUT there is A LoT of material. She isn't the most approachable but answers her emails pretty quickly. She skims through slides and will say she touched upon the subject even though she mentions like 2 things from it
Least favourite of all my professors thus far at U of M. She's very unclear in her course structure for this class and jumps around subjects without explanation. When asked a question she usually would respond with, "what don't you understand". Smart lady, but horrible teacher; Made the course much more complicated than it needed to be.
Her powerpoint slides don't contain a lot of information but she will tell you everything you need to know during her discussions. She does talk a lot and it is boring but all you have to show up class, listen and write down what she says during discussions and you will get an A. Plus her exams are very easy.
Very slow. Very boring. Slides are pretty useless. Doesn't answer emails. I truly don't believe I've learnt anything important this entire class. If you can bear it, it's an easy A
she's just awesome.
She is an expert in her field, extremely knowledgeable. The slides are a good guide line but much of the tested material is verbally lectured, very important to go to class and listen to what she is talking about.
She was really hard to understand due to her accent. She also speaks super quietly so sit in the front unless she's using a microphone. Read off slides and added a few things. Had good relatable stories. Also there were bonus stuff that helped boost your grade. She did exam reviews where she handed out chocolate. Textbook needed for online quizzes.
Snehil is a smart, sweet lady! She knows her stuff very well. Wants you to understand the material and background knowledge. It can be a boring class, but is an easy A if you need. She does test on material in class so make sure to take notes. Easy, understandable, common sense material! Likes to throw in a few jokes here and there! Very nice prof!
I hated this class. The subject material is boring. The prof is knowledgeable but tends to go off on long tangents, making it difficult to sort out which info is relevant. I also found exam criteria to be presented in a very unclear manner. Study hard for the first midterm, it gets easier after that.
She knows what she is talking about but her lectures are NOT structured and she gets carried away on tangents all the time. She speaks loudly at the beginning of class but??? somehow forgets to keep it up and begins to mumble half way through. The tests are not difficult but have random information thrown on them that was never talked about.
Very slow moving through power points, lots of additional information given for some slides, skip over others. A bit hard to understand sometimes, but sitting in the front helps. Offered lots of interesting tidbits on current research. Hopefully have her in the future!
Put a little effort and get a A+
Read all thr slides few times. during breaks when you are bored
Lectures contain many spelling errors and prof is hard to understand because of accent and she lectures facing the board. Spends little time on important topics because we should teach ourselves and spends way too much time on unimportant things (which gets confusing and complicated)
Lectures are heavy and as long as you come to class you would be set for the mid term! She can be hard to understand sometimes with her accent. Shes very kind , humorous and passionate. However, I would pay attention to the additional info she says about the topics! Exams were easy! The midterms were bit heavy, quizzes are super easy!
Shes the best just follow her notes and attend the class properly
This course is one of the toughest in the first year. The passing percentage in her class in 85-90 whereas onlt 60-70 percent students pass in othe professors classes. I think this is enough said. Secondly, she also teaches a nutrition course with average grade A.
She's a gem of a teacher, i come from commerce background but still she made this course really interesting for me and i got an A+ !!
an easy A class for sure. quizzes are stupid easy but you do need to purchase both textbooks for them, lectures are very straight forward barely anyone even showed up for class, thats probably the difference between an A and A+ because there is some additional info not given in lecture slides. overall a decent class
She's amazing! my STAT1000 never everrr gets boring because of her funny (and relevant, appropriate) jokes! Totally recommend taking STAT1000 with Dua! Oh, she does have a bit of an accent, but you'll get over it and sure will enjoy her classes!
Very knowledgeable, but sometimes she overexplains one thing and doesn't have time for other things, so it's really hard to know which one is important. A lot of people said this course is easy, not wrong, just study all the slides and you're good.
She is honestly one of the best prof ive ever come across. She is very nice! I would recommend attending class because she explains things in details, that sometimes she gets off the tracked. Some of the things she says in class are not on the lecture notes but will be on the exam. If youre gonna take her class make sure u sit in the front.
I loved her! Passionate about what she teaches and responds super quick to emails. You have to go to class because there is no textbook and she tests on what she says - the slides are bare bones, you need to add to it as she speaks. Fair exams though and she is funny which is a perk
Love the prof. Her lectures can be boring (sometimes out of topic) and full of typo (since she teaches too many different classes) but her exams are really easy for an A/A+. You can also add up your final exam into a 100% one if you don't like writing mid-terms. Definitely should take her class if you want an A/A+ and an easy, approachable prof
She goes off on many tangents, so it's hard to know what information is actually important to know for tests. Some of her powerpoints are put together very poorly, so it's hard to read the information on the slides. All multiple choice tests.
She is very kind and wants to help students when they face difficulties in understanding concepts.
Very knowledgeable but sometimes she would go into details about one thing and rush over other things so it's quite hard to know which part is important. Just study the slides and you'll be good. And of course, do well on assignments and quizzes, they're basically free marks.
You must go to class because her lectures posted online are very brief and she explains everything during class time
Gave us bonus marks on our midterms because she took too long to grade them. Same for the second midterm. Easy class if youve taken basic bio. 2 midterms, 1 final all multiple choice.
Not a huge fan of how the course was taught. The course material isn't hard but the way she taught it made it harder than it was. She will either stay on a slide for 30 minutes rambling or go off topic so pay attention and take notes when she does because there will be questions on the exam based on what she rambles on about.
She is good. And knows what she is teaching. But sometimes get off track from main topic. Also very slow in uploading exam scores. But her exams are easy. Slides are exactly copy of her tests.
She didn't respond to my emails when I asked course-related questions. Some hyperlinks are invalid and fail to show information we need when answering questions on quizzes. The course materials don't give enough examples for us to learn by ourselves. Overall, not recommend this instructor.
Not the most responsive, if you have questions over email she doesnt explain things to you. Final was ok because she didnt make it cumulative, but seemed to grade it pretty tough. Overall, wouldnt take another class with her.
Amazing professor. Her notes are SO useful. Very helpful outside of the classroom. Wants students to succeed. Very approachable. Gives out chocolates for right answers. Motivates students and is very helpful. Took 4 courses with her and would love to take more!!
Best professor for statistics. Her lectures and notes are simply and easily to understand. Will definitely recommend.
Passionate and understanding. Sometimes difficult to understand, but overall she speaks loudly and clearly. She expects you to attend lectures and gets frustrated when you don't. Tests are relatively easy if you study, there were only a few difficult questions.
She is passionate about what she is teaching (the course). Good knowledge and facts. There are 4 small easy quizzes throughout the course(online) worth 10%, at this particular term, Out of a sudden, she eliminates one of the more technical chapters to be included in the exam. Tests were fairly easy in difficulty. all M/C. Good sense of humor.
Dr. Dua is the absolute worst. She has you do a discussion, quiz and read at a minimum of 4 chapters a week. Quizzes are filled with spelling errors, she never responds to her emails. Just avoid her at all costs
To be very honest, she is a tremendous instructor for brilliant minds. But her teaching pace is very slow for the ones that struggles from time to time.
My class had a very hard time doing her assignments
I headed into the final with an A in this class. Her notes are easy to understand if you attend the lectures, pay attention while adding to her notes and participating. Her assignments are easy and simple. Her exams are straight forward and easy if you study. She gave us a lot of benefits for the final. 10/10 recommend.
Easy grader, didnt attend lectures ever but still ended up with an A. Doesnt reply to emails, horrible lectures, and went into the exam not knowing what my grade is because she takes so long to Mark assignments.
Honestly unlike most people in my class, I attended all lectures but barely did any studying on my own and ended up with an A+. You cant expect to not show up to any lectures and pass with flying colours. Everything you needed to know was in the lectures and if you take notes and read over them before the exams youre golden
Dr. Dua is the most amazing professor! She is passionate about her course and loves to teach her subject in depth. Her notes are EXTREMELY helpful and she provides a lot of material from which you can practise. I've seen students having other professors suffer. Very easy exams. Attend all of her classes and you'll easily get an A+.
doesnt reply positively ever. shes average honestly.
Dr. Dua explains the lecture very well but you need to pay extra attention to what she's saying as she doesn't like being asked again. Her lecture note is useful but hard to read her handwriting at first. She takes attendance and gives us the quiz to complete before class, which I find very helpful to review.
Lectures were heavy in content, but were very enjoyable. Questions could be asked at any time and they were answered thoroughly and insightfully which was very engaging. Though participation wasn't necessary, you definitely gain more from the course when you do ask questions. Overall, Dr. Dua fostered a welcoming, productive, and fair classroom.
Professor Dua is not a very caring or understanding professor. Overly blunt during lectures whenever anyone asks for clarifications. Slides are cluttered and unorganized, yet she tests very harshly on the material (or lack thereof) that is presented. Would not take again.
Prof Dua rushes through course material and is not very helpful. Spent only half a lecture teaching us calculations for our test that was the following day. Rushed through the material and everyone went into the test not confident. I had emailed for extra help or for more notes and she would not help me. Exams are challenging but assignments easy.
Cannot believe the university has let this low quality of learning occur for so long. layout of content/ grades are a MESS. The recorded lectures they are so quiet you cant hear everything she is saying. muffled speech for minutes at a time, silence for 10 minutes randomly.. and most of all some of the chapters are missing. poor quality teacher.
The course itself wasn't awful. Its manageable if you review. The prof is disorganized and the layout of her class info online is horrible. hard to find the content you need to study. I did not hate this prof/course but I def wouldnt take her class again
Good professor. Would take again
Dr. Dua has a clear knowledge and passion for nutrition and cooking! PowerPoints are difficult to understand at times, and it is hard to know what will be on tests / exams. Tests / exams don't test on knowledge of concepts, but more on very specific details. There are opportunities for bonus marks and the lab exam is easy
all exams are on moodle but in class so you use your laptop for your tests in class. there are only 2 big assignments worth 25% the whole semester. she provides all the notes from class. she is a great instructor, she explains the material really well, it sticks with you throughout.
Take this course with her. GPA Booster.
best professor in ICM and university for nutritional knowledge.
This course is definitely a GPA booster only if you learn it properly. Snehil Dua is an easy grader prof. If you want to get A+, you guys should learn for midterm and final properly
She's knowledgeable and funny. Very rarely responds to emails. Disregards her students when it comes to communication especially when you try to ask her important questions about exams.
Such a great and easy DE course and the prof is SUPER helpful with deadlines and extensions and being available for questions in a timely manner. The course is very fair and doable.
I was her student. As I complained about the grade of the exam, she was nasty to me. I am a good student. She did not allow me to enroll in another course she offered. Finally, I could enroll in this course, and she tried to give me problems during the course.
Awesome teacher, just read slides carefully and thats what she gives in exam. (Food 1000)
The content was fairly easy, I didn't study at all and still manage to pass all the test. There are 3 discussions, some iclickers, and one assignment. The assignment was easy, just needed to follow the criteria for full marks. The test are fair not too difficult, the final wasn't bad either.
