horrible teacher but gradeing scale easy group quize notes can use on test
Uncleared lecuture, gotta to study on your won! Horrible
Lost class attention in ten minutes. Easy tests though.

Very kind but definately BORING. Easy tests.

Class was fairly easy but unless you ask questions, you don't get an explanation...and when you do ask, she is very unclear and boring.
Doesn't teach the subject. She'll give you all the problems that are on her tests so it's an easy A, But you won't learn a thing. She will not prepare you for 150 at all!
The most horrible teaching style i have ever seen. It seems like she hates her job. She is not interested in the subject, of course, she doesnt make the class interested in the subject
No Comments
Was easy for Calc 3 but changed for Linear Alg! Calc 3 she gave us easy test exactly like practice test but 4 L.A. she tricked us! Changed the type of quests! Extremely boring in both classes! If you will take higher math she wont prepare you well at all!
Do not take this class with this teacher. She is very boring, uninterested in teaching, very monotonous, and tells you to study one thing then on the test its completely different.
This teacher came recommended to me. However, this was not good advice. She is not very informative, nor is she clear on what she wants. She often grades very hard and deducts points for no apparent reason. Not recommended for learning.
She allows notecards on the test and she tells you exactly what is on the tests before hand. She does not collect homework. She uses 3 out of 4 tests and 4 out of 6 quizzes for your grade. She is extremely boring but it was an easy A for me.
The whole class was doing bad so she let us take home 6 quizes and 1 test, but these tests and quizes were so difficult that the tutoring center did not know how to figure out these problems
Easy class....got a c without even showing up. She gives the type of test the day before and shows you how to do the problems...allows a note card on test...i barely showed up and passed.
I donno about this one. Gotta question her teaching abilities here. Seemed to always get things wrong on the board and go back and correct them. Might have been just doing that to see if we were paying attention. I did get an A though, durring summer too.
Fairly clear during lecture, although not too exciting. Does not check tests and quizzes to ensure that problems are valid and solvable. Makes life difficult when you have a take-home quiz that you spen all weekend working on them.
extremely boring, easy a though. you don't learn anything, she seems to hate life period. tests are exactly like the practice problems, no notecards allowed, weird grading on quizzes. i don't recommend her at all
Socorro Hunt has a very negative attitude towards teaching and students. During the first class she said she would try to get as many students to drop as possible. She looks like an evil yoda. She is frustratingly boring.
Only take her class if you can't get any other. Pay attention to when she gives answers to the quizzes, they get recycled and my final was 100% old quiz questions. So I pulled off a B.. didn't learn anything though.
won't listen to you. always hiding.
Know the homework problems and the practice exams, and you'll get an A in the class. She didn't collect the homework. She can be unfriendly but I honestly think it's her way of weeding out the unserious lower division students.
The worst math teacher I have ever had! Never explains the material, you learn more by reading yourself! If you want to learn something do not take her. Take Teegarden.
Ugh. Poor instructor. Not only is she relatively unfriendly, but having gone on to other math courses after this one I found myself completely unprepared. If you plan on ever taking any math after hers course find a different instructor.
As long as you copy all that mess she writes on the board you should do well in class since all of her quiz and tests problems are identical to the examples she throws in class. Yes, she is BORING as hell to the point that you could go insane.
As an educator myself, I admit Ms. Hunt has a very high degree of knowledge. I congratulate her on this. That said, I believe Ms. Hunt could be a very good teacher if she had some empathy for her students.
grade is based on tests (as it should be), not on attendance/homework. if you know subject well, you will get an A. read the book, you dont have to do all homework problems. its easy to figure out what kind of problems are expected on the test
Boring. Late to class. Misses class a few times. No empathy. Do not take her. Students correct her in class.
if u like an easy teacher, she's the one but if you like a very well organizing and intelligent teacher that can answer your questions, find a different person. I feel sleepy in her class for so many times
this is my second class with her, homework doesnt matter drops 2 quizzes and 1 test. to pass just copy down the problems she does on the board, shell tell you whats on the test/quizzes just not the numbers involved. easy teacher but shell make you mad with her stupidity sometimes. easy A
She's a decent teacher and grader
very straight forward and very easy. take her if you want an easy A.
sometimes its hard to understand her, but she is nice and i really liked her grading method.
A very disorgainized teacher. She has been late to her first two classes and did not have her syllabus ready or clearly explained her homework. Spends most of her time with her back to the class and does not speak loud or clearly enough. Tends to block what she is writting on the board and writes too small. Not impressed with her so far.
She goes through all of the material way too quickly!! She doesn't explain things fully!! At the end of every class, there's another student asking me if I got any of it. She's pretty boring too!!
she's nice, easy to grade
Not too difficult if you can suffer through how boring she is. She teaches by rote and doesn't seem to know her material enought to handle any problem that is not in her notes. Occasionally responds to valid challenging arguments as if you are a child and you are wrong simply because she says so.
Hunt taught straight from notes and knows her subject but failed to engage the class and failed to teach us to conceptualize the subject;I was memorizing this material rather than learning it.The book is awful, which did not help.Redeeming is her amount of "drop" test/quizzes.If you need to take advanced Lin Alg, take another teacher.
Boring. Suceeds in taking simple concepts and making them obscure. Read straight from the text and skipped the critical info. Note taking with her is a pointless excercise. I can read a textbook too. I would avoid her if possible.
Hunt effectively destroyed whatever potential interest I had in Linear Algebra by the end of the first week. I haven't learned any of the concepts - instead, she has us write down a note of theories and formulas then tests on obscure questions that she doesn't cover in class. Even when going over the tests, she doesn't explain anything fully.
EASiNESS TEACHER EVER.....
Hard class. i was an A student all through HS, took and passed AP Cal 1 in HS with a 3. i felt confident going into the class. She destroyed any hope of me wanting to become an engineer. sometimes after she finishes a problem you'll point out a mistake. she'll look for it, find it, erase the whole prob and redo it trashing your notes
Horrible teacher, you will be lost the entire time.
ONLY take her if you plan to *never* take more math. Quizzes are from the notes. She'll give you an A, but you won't understand SH*T, and when you're expected to know it later, you'll cry. My friend was stupid enough to take her through Calc 3 & Diff EQ; he *taught himself* using Schaum's Outlines. (Good training for transferring to UCSD, ha!)
A sincere travesty to the craft of teaching. She is an insult to every hard working professor. Never once taught a concept, simply plowing through examples on the board with out pause or explanation. Unless you are prepared to teach yourself using her choice of cryptic textbook do not take this professor.
A nice teacher, it's hard to say anything bad about her. Down to earth. Not very good at teaching however. Speeds right through new material and leaves you "hah?" Skims the surface of material one day then you do your HW and then the next meeting, teaches it in depth. I recommend taking someone else or asking for help. She seems nice like she would
Invest in Trig for Dummies and Schaum's Outlines, I had to myself trig.
Ya, invest in trig for dummies and schaum's outlines. I taught myself trig. It's funny someone else said the exact same thing and USED the SAME resources. lol. See the trend here? I hope so...
If your math is weak I do not recommend this professor. She is very fast and explains the material poorly. You will definitely have to study the material on your own. Doing the homework will really help. I like that she gives plenty of quizzes to prepare you for the test. I made it through with an A, but only about 15 people made it to the end.
worse teacher in the world. thats all i can say
Not the easiest teacher, but easy on grading if you apply yourself and participate i.e. do the homework. Not recommended for someone who is week in the subject area.
Fair in her grading, drops a test and a couple quizzes. Easy to make up if you fall behind but the subject material is hard to grasp.
Honestly she is a nice lady but doesn't explain things well. If you get her one on one she's great, but she's never there for office hours. I've never failed a class and this may be my 1st, even though I go to the math lab a few times a week. Would not recommend her unless you find math VERY easy.
she's hard
DRY, BORING, AND INSULTING!!! SHE DOESN'T LIKE QUESTIONS!!! She shows an example, moves on and if you have ask a question she will insult you and insist you take math 96 again!!!!!! UNless you already know trig from high school don't take her!!!!!
Easy on grading, drop the lowest quiz/test. but you absolutely HAVE to teach yourself if you want a good grade. Not really recommended if you're not the "self teaching" kind of student. AT ALL.
Took her class a while back. I thought this professor was rather fair with the exams and quizzes since its based off on the lecture notes and homework. Just work hard in this class and you'll pass with a good grade and also you'll learn a lot.
If you don't do your homework and teach yourself the material you will probably fail unless you've had trig before. I got more tutoring this semester than ever before. She doesn't make asking questions in class very fun. I would probably pick someone else if I had the choice.
She's a good professor and definitely knows her stuff. I must say I'm rather surprised at all the bad reviews on here. If you pay attention and focus during class you find her examples are usually enough for you to learn off of. She just expects you to study as hard as you need to. And of course, she expects you to know your prerequisites.
Trig is 2nd-nature to her. Be sure to take good notes & QUICKLY. These notes will get you through the class. She drops lowest quiz, exam, & worksheet, which can be a life-saver. Her constructive criticism is more like a scolding: NO! BAD ALGEBRA! But, she means well. Beware of her ?NASTY? problems. Otherwise, very knowledgeable & informative.
She goes quick through examples, doesn't lead the class through them. You have to go to her office for help if you get lost, if you do, she HELPS a lot!!! A bit of an accent, so listen hard.
Veryyy difficult class. She has an accent and she assumes you already know all of the material. If you miss a day of a quiz or test she does not let you retake it. no matter what happened. doesnt answer your questions.goodluck
She is very easy and helpful! she explains everything well and always answers questions. Drops the lowest test of4 and lowest quiz of4. Gives simple worksheets drops lowest 2of10. Do her suggested book problems cause they are very similar to the tests; get the solutions manual. She is a GREAT TEACHER easy A+!go to class, do hmwrk, study for tests!
By far the worst math prof. in my college career. Does not welcome questions, patronizes you if you do ask something. Her exams do not reflect worksheets/quizzes at all save for 1-2 questions if you're lucky. Exams are based on concepts she deems important and not on the textbook. Avoid at all costs.
By far the worst math teacher I've had. Her own work is a little fuzzy so when she does examples on the board, many time she will end up with a wrong answer and say "Oh...what did I do wrong..." and then randomly go back and change negative signs and numbers, which makes the notes impossible to follow. She makes u feel like an idiot for asking ?'s
very eAsy class. just attend and take notes! quizzes are based on her notes and assingment are easy. I got A on quizzes, assignments and exams.
Professor takes shortcuts in working equations so its hard to follow. She makes grammar mistakes, transposes numbers, and occasionally puts the wronf function on the board. She was a no-call no-show 3 times, 2 on test days. She wrote formulas on board incorrectly for use during test. She makes a lot of mistakes. Makes up for it by droping low score
Her lectures are somewhat easy to follow but are kind of boring. She drops 2/10 worksheets, 1/4 quizes, and 1/4 tests. Studying the worksheets will help A LOT for the tests. Keep the tests because she just reuses problems from previous tests for the final exam. Not a bad professor but not a very energetic one. Learning will seem slow. Easy A.
OK, I have to say at first I was like OMG this will suck, she seemed to live up to the reviews. As class went on I realized how simple she had made a difficult subject. Go to class, take her seriously, do the worksheets and you will get an A. Class has not finished for me yet, but Ive gotten an A on every test and she drops the lowest ones!
If you need help, you're better off asking a classmate. If you ask her a question you'll need to be rather authoritative in procuring an answer. She often makes mistakes while teaching that make it difficult to take useful notes, and because she moves too fast, those notes are what you will probably learn from.
I took this professor again. Same rating as when I reviewed her 6/23/10. Again, her lectures are somewhat easy to follow but are boring. Her humor is pretty funny when she cracks a joke. She's prone to make mistakes but is quick to correct them. Study the worksheets for the tests and keep the tests for the final (she reuses the same problems).
Her teching style is clearly and easy understanding for ME.
I dont know why she has bad ratings. She has very neat writing, my notes look amazing just because of how she wrote on the board. The quizes are based off the worksheets, the tests are based off the quizzes, the final uses exact problems from the quizzes. How much more simple can it get? She is obviously a pro at math and she teaches it well. <3
An aweful teacher. I have excelled in math my whole life but she made this painful and diff. Constantly makes mistakes in class. Makes up the tests/quizzes an hour before she gives them and often includes problem variations she didn't go over in class. insults for asking questions. don't take her unless you are ready to teach yourself math141.
She's a solid teacher. She's very no nonsense and does her job very efficiently. The class is very straight forward and there are no surprises (the quizzes are based out of the text book, the tests are based on the quizzes and the final is based on the tests). If you just show up and pay attention, her class is not particularly difficult.
Awful. Over half the class gets lost and she treats you like your stupid for asking questions. I HAVE to use youtube and a tutor. Random stuff I did not learn in class on tests. The only positive thing is that she doesn't collect homework and only has 3 tests, 3 quizzes, 6wkshts and a final. So you know exactly what grade you will get.
it can't get any worse. She doesn't explain things too well and makes it hard to fallow her examples on the board. I learned close to nothing in this class and received an A. i was pretty surprised.Although it did hurt me, since i'm in pre-calc now and understanding very little of the concepts that i was suppose to learn in her class. but, easy A
Very neat and easy. I don't know why people complain she's a bad professor. She goes through the lectures clearly and there are still some people asking stupid questions, but she would nicely explain it again, WITHOUT making you feel dumb! so don't blame on her. She does make alot of mistakes but overall a great professor
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR LINEAR ALGEBRA! only goes over the exact example problems strait from the text. you might as well stay home and take your own notes. She refuses to answer questions or replies with something like "well have you taken basic algebra before?" dont bother going to her office hours she hates her job so shes anything but helpfull
Somewhat uninspiring teacher but her tests are easy. Pretty much just taught myself everything and came to class just to take the quizzes and tests.
She is a good professor. Lectures were well-organized and not so difficult. If somebody had question during the lecture, she answered to him/her. People who really know the prerequisite for this class will find it easy to pass!
I dont know why she has some bad reviews, obviously by people who care little for the subject. She explains things very clearly. Attendance is absolutely necessary if you want an A. I barely used the book and mostly worked from my notes gained in class. If youre a good student and enthusiastic about the class its an EASY A. Take her you wont regret
I have had over 40 professors in my college career on all levels...this woman is by far the worst. Unless you have strong math study skills, in other words if you are willing to teach yourself, do not take this class. Her lectures are awful and she is outdated...
More like a person presenting some stuff that was written in a book. She makes multiple calculation errors during lectures. She'll come to class not prepared to answer problems which SHE WROTE, for as take home tests, nor for the "recommended" HW. She does however take many of her test questions from the HW. (HW was about 20 questions per night)
Most of her tests are easy, especially the final. She is very unorganized, jumps into different material before you blink, and is very dry and boring. You won't really learn much in this class. Would not recommend her if you want to learn, would recommend her if you want an A.
You might as well take an online course. You basically have to teach yourself. No teaching is involved, copies examples from the book she chose(very technical, with poor explanations of the material, like her) don't ask her question..her response "I don't want to know about your personal question" and "oh that's baby algebra" choose someone else.
you pretty much have to teach yourself. Best 2/3 tests, 2/3 quizzes and 6/8 worksheets are graded, no HW is due. In the end you will know what grade your will receive. Class is not hard but not easy
You shouldn't have to learn from her. I got the student solutions manual and learned everything with her recommended homework. I didn't like the worksheets because sometimes they were not even written correctly. Her exams are straightforward and gives you things she's gone over somewhere. The final's 80% old test problems. Great class system too
Sweet old lady. Gives 8 worksheets (10 points each), 4 quizzes (25 pts, lowest dropped), 4 tests (100 pts, lowest dropped), Final (200 pts). Great course to take if you enjoy calculus. Shouldn't be too hard if you're interested in doing well. Makes jokes about dinnertime; will laugh at your jokes. Textbook helpful for studying. Last quiz: take-home
unless your an expert in trig. this class will not be easy. me and a group of 7 other students in her class formed a study group just to teach ourselves the material. the final is easy though bc it has the exact same questions from the 3 tests but you will have to really go over everything on your own bc she does not do a good job of teaching
Professor Hunt is a solid math teacher. She is not flashy or entertaining in any way (though she does crack the occasional surprisingly witty joke) but goes over the material well. Her tests line up well with the homework so there are no surprises. Go to class and do the homework and you should have no problem.
Took professor Hunt for Spring semester, she made pre cal super easy. she will not test you on nothing she has not gone over. 10 worksheets which are similar to the quiz and the quiz are similar to exams. the final are problems from the exams so you do not want to miss any 4 of them. i will definitely be taking her class again.
I had a hard time following her lectures and she doesn't teach from the book. She uses her own notes taken from each chapter to teach. She gives 10 worksheets and uses them for the quiztest problems. The final was comprised of problems from previous testsquizzes. Take advantage of her office hours if you are struggling. Shes listens well.
Do the homework, plus extra problems similar to the ones in class and on homework/quiz.
She is old, but she knows her stuff! Her math memorized is still better than you all. So be respected guys!
Exams are straight forward no surprises. Expect to spend hours on homework some problems may show up on exams.
Very knowledgable teacher
really good teacher if you always pay attention, drops the lowest grade of your test , a very knowledge person , you can ask her question in or after class. I did not buy the book and learned a lot of the material , also you can use another book as a guide
So far, Hunt is a very standard teacher in the sense that she doesn't make the class more difficult than it should be. She clarifies any questions that you have, doesn't give surprises on quizzes/tests, is straightforward with the material, and gives those of us who do Honors lots of guidance on the material we need to learn on our own.
If you have a good handle on Math she is a good professor for you but if you need a lot of feedback and guidance she is going to be difficult. I passed the class mainly because of our study group. I did learn a lot but she can be tricky and mix in difficult algebra in with a difficult calculus concept. Grading was pretty fair but not forgiving.
She is awesome, one of the best math teachers ever. I took her trig class and pre-cal. 8 worksheets, and she drops 2 lws. 3 tests and 3 quizzes, she drops 1 lws of each. Some extra credits also. I did not buy the book. I just Practiced the Qs on my notes and the Qs she showed us in the class. She helped me prepared for Calculus well. Gonna miss her
She does go through the material but there is no interaction with the class. If you ask a question, she will answer but won't deviate from her answer to help you understand it. You can listen to an entire lecture, ask questions the whole time, and still be lost. Read the book and do problems from the book to teach yourself the material.
I took professor Hunt for 3 semesters straight, from Cal 2 to Differential Equations, and she is the best teacher I've ever had. If you really care for your grade, study hard for it. Go to her office hours if needed, I believed she is always there for you.
She usually an easy A professor but there was time she check papers whenever she had a bad mood. She knows what she is doing during the lecture. You could see that she could speaks softly that people can't hear even when you ask questions, she can't hear what you're saying. We asked her if she could do group test on final but NO.
Calc Three that was so fast than you never seen before in Calc Two. That was lame that she don't give out extra credit than before then she had to go pretty fast on the lectures than I've think before on calc two. She gave out practice problems the time she gave out the homeworks. Be ready for lecture two sections a day.
BAD! BAD! BAD! save your time and money. She doesn't care about her students at all.
She is a super sweet woman, definitely knows her mathematics; however I dont know what exactly she deems significant in her tests but any little mistake is marked off quite a bit. She doesnt interact much with the class and is a bit monotoned. Make sure you perfect the art of math in this class because youre going to need to anyway.
As others have said she looks like a caring woman, however I don't believe that she should be a professor. For one she teaches around 2-3 sections every class not following her own schedule that she made herself. Second don't ask questions on either class or office hours because your questions wont be answer. No interaction with the students.
Professor Socorro is hilarious! She can get out of context and start talking about her life, but she knows her things. Final is usually repeated questions from the exams, and exams are really similar to the quizes. She gives out worksheets which are great help to study.
Don't expect to get any interaction from her. She just talks and you take notes. Super old school. Easy A, though, just keep the tests. She puts previous test questions on the final. She drops 2 worksheets from 8. Overall, listen to the boring dull lectures and you'll pass.
Outstanding, no-nonsense professor for those interested in Calculus. Her "Approach the Board" segments gave us the opportunity to "show that we knew are stuff," or at other times, "more practice is needed." There have been many great ones at the Mesa College Math Dept! Belew, Ross, Kuniyuki, Sandvick, the Teegardens. S. Hunt is one among them!!
One of the worse math professors. I ended up dropping today. She doesnt teach the class at all. You can sit in class but end up getting lost bc of the constant mistakes she makes. I shouldnt have to attend class and then have to reteach myself everything once i get home. DO NOT TAKE HER. YOU WONT LEARN A THING. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR.
A very easy A , I didnt study and got an A You can not find easier than this professor to save your GPA , exams similar to worksheet
She is a tough grader. I you are not specific enough or if she can't read your writing, she marks it down significantly. What is on the worksheet doesn't mean it will be on the quizz or the test. She asks you weird question on the exam. She said just follow the textbook for extra practices. But what was on the test was totally different.
Horrible professor. In the whole class, she just read the notes. The test is about 6 questions. If you miss one question, you get a B. No extra credit. About 1/3 students drop before the deadline, and I was so wrong that I did not. I guess there were less than 20% students got A.
Old school professor but very straightforward and easy A. The final is random questions from the previous exams so you'll be fine as long as you have the solutions
Lectures are not the best because she is a grandma professor. Worksheets are tough but get a study group and go to her office hours and she will help you out. Some questions from the worksheets appear on the exams verbatim and the final is questions from previous exams. Drops 1 exam, 2 worksheets, 1 quiz, and she curves so that a 65% is a C.
Its is time for her to retire. I found it extremely difficult to hear what she would say. She is Vertically challenged and from an outside perspective it look like the students were playing a game of whack a mole just to copy notes from the whiteboard. She would often get confused and redo theorems and notes.
