She is a tough teacher but if you study your notes you will do fine. There is quizzes every week and 4 exams plus a final. You definitely need to study a lot!
She is very hard when it comes to tests. No study guide. Sometimes forgets it is a Junior College level, not a University. Study hard, take good notes. Seems a bit moody at times. Writes on hand. Does not know all the answers when students ask questions. Does not give quizzes back in time for tests so students know what they need to study.
Uses Power Point and no text book, though advise text to help study for her very HARD tests! She does get moody! Forgets studentes of all ages are in her class. Study hard take good notes.
She is very nice easy going she will help u any question she uses power points so study hard you will pass
Summer session started off bad. HUGE amounts of information, no study guide, got a D on my first test. However, after voicing how we (the whole class) were feeling the instructor was much more approachable and slowed down a bit. Plus I had to step it up and actually study! She did end up giving us study guides for the quizzes and exams.
I was not a fan of biology, but had to take it for my program. If you are looking for an easy class, this is not it. Instructor knows her stuff but you need to study hard as well, otherwise you will fail. study her powerpoint and take good notes and you'll be fine
So I knew biology would be tough, but I was pretty excited for this class when I registered, but after the first test I just wanted to get it over with :/ She's not god- awful, but it's not easy to keep up. Pay attention to her lectures and powerpoints, she doesn't use the text at all. Good luck.
She is a good instructor. She seemed to me to know the material very good and she is really nice. I liked that she is always there before class to ask her questions if you were confused. To pass her class i would say take good notes and study those power points. Txt book can help you out as well but not really needed. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!
I thought the Anatomy/Physiology class would be difficult however, this Prof. is great and made this class much easier to understand. Her powerpoints are straight forward and she helps clarify any confusions so ask her questions if you have any questions!
She is a wonderful professor! This was the second of the 2 A&P classes, and she would never just read from the slides; gave great elaboration and demonstrated a depth of knowledge. She encouraged questions and gave extra credit to help boost final grades. Important to understand how anatomy and physio intertwine, not just memorize terms/locations.
Great professor! she is helpful, and really is passionate about her field.
Actually took her class at Long Beach City College for just a simple Bio Lab class worth 1.0 units. Does not care about her students just plays her classic music and when you do have a question about the lab she gets an attitude and gets the answers from the book. Careless, lazy and completely rude. She kicked me out of class when taking makeupQuiz
Took her Human Biology course at LBCC and it was pretty great. Didn't have to buy a textbook, just powerpoint lectures. She was nice, helpful. Show up to class and take notes, study the notes and powerpoints, which you have access to print out. I got an A pretty easily. She graded the exams on a curve. No homework really.
AMAZING teacher. If it weren't for her, I would be failing physiology right now. She really wants her students to understand everything. She does a great job at teaching even with a mild accent. Draws pictures on the board which helps a lot. She will go over something multiple times until she thinks the class gets it. Highly recommend her.
She was helpful, most of her lecture comes from the powerpoint. Group quizzes were given, she gives hw and her labs were pretty straight forward. Two cons. One you must sign in/out for class to receive points for participation/attendance. Two she doesn't hand back exams, sometimes she' d mark right answers wrong, check your exams during her hrs.
When I took this class I was really considering biology but after taking this class it made me rethink what I wanted to major in. Im sure this class is easy for some people but for me it was the hardest class I have ever taken too many things to memorize. I DON'T RECOMMEND THE SUMMER BIO 250 CLASSES because im sure that theyre too fast. GOOD LUCK!
Professor Soha was a GREAT Anatomy teacher! She was extremely helpful! You do not need to purchase textbook as all lectures/quizzes/practicums are on all her powerpoints. They are very detailed. At times i was unable to attend class, but able to turn in homework via email. She also drew out processes for clearer understanding and allowed recording
I took Soha for Bio-251. She is an amazing professor. Her class is challenging but only because the material must be learned. She holds a passion for what she does. I am glad I took her class. I have learned so much. She always has her doors open if you have questions or need clarification on material. Also no textbooks. All in all great class.
All of the material she provides will be on the exams, so utilize them! Difficulty is kinda hard, but that's just the subject in general. She does come off as intimidating, but she is very approachable! Go to office hours if you really need help!
Hands down one of the top 3 professors at Valley. Her course material is heavy, BUT she will equip you for success. Packets are provided outlining the expectations of what you SHOULD know. She is very patient and thorough with her lectures and labs. Extra credit is built into all of her exams, which essentially gives you about a 5% extra buffer.
She isn't really helpful. If you have questions, she tells you you should study more.
Not very helpful, I asked her questions regarding the subject and she yelled at me saying she already went over that .
She's is very nice and approachable but does not believe in study guides. She gave us 2 back to back exams within 10 days apart!!! Her lectures are good but sometimes not helpful. She started to give us study guides after the first exam and lab practical because she noticed that the class was scoring low. Extra credit? forget it!
All she does is read her power points when I know I could just read them at home . Very rude. Makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Accent is thick and very annoying. Stay away.
Class was difficult and you have to study. Tests were fair and she build in extra credit to some of them. She gave very good lectures. She makes the material easy to understand.
I took the hybrid Bio 250 class (anatomy and physiology). We were given quizzes every week, lots of homework and she wasn't very accessible. If you understand this topic very well or have extra time to have someone else tutor to teach you the content, you might pass with a B or a C. She's knowledgeable but doesn't know how to teach effectively.
Stay away from taking her class if you want to get a good grade in biology. She doesn't believe in study guides. Her exams are not clear cut, makes tests confusing at times, so you really need to know your stuff. doesn't like when students challenge her or asks questions. only offers extra credit when class is failing. sometimes yells at students.
One of the most confusing, frustrating professors I've ever had. Her tests are full of surprises. She'll put 5 questions on a topic she mentioned for a second. Her grading scale is horrible. 90-100% gets a 4.0, 80-89% gets a 3.0, and 70-79% gets a 2.0. WHO DOES THAT!? it does nothing but hinder students. My worst educational mistake is taking her.
whatever you do, do not take her. She's the toughest test grader i've seen! she even said "i'm strict when it comes to grading." If you want to pass, you have to study HARD.
Do not take her.. if you seriously care about your GPA do not take her shes not a good teacher and does not care about her students. Out of about 15 of the students at least 8-9 students failed her tests. Says a lot about the teacher. If you take her only advice I can give it record her and take notes from the PowerPoints. Study hard
Great subject, super prepared teacher, definitely need to go to class.
Very knowledgeable teacher, I recommend recording her lectures because she goes very in depth on some topics and the ones she does are the topics that are usually on the test. Expects you to remember a lot for the practicums but all in all a very good teacher! Offers few extra credit, only time to talk to her is EARLY in Am before 8am class.
All in all she's a good professor. Drawes out detailed examples on the board and she allows you to record her lectures. She is a bit tough when it comes to her lecture exams because she wants to see if you know the material. Gives a few extra credit points on exams and practicals. Guaranteed to pass her class if you put in the effort.
Pretty good professor! All I suggest you do is STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! and memorize EVERYTHING because you don't know what will be on the test and the questions are really tricky! The tests are super long and questions can be confusing! Overall good class!!
This A&P class is like med school. Practicals are impossible to pass. Youre expected to know everything about the body and how to spell it all correctly or you get the answer wrong. The class was so hard it started with 6 people trying to add on and by end of semester there were less than 10 people and I dont think she even knew any of our names
She like talks about all different subjects in one class lecture and basically expects you to self teach yourself the rest at home and doesnt explain into detail what you need to learn and skips to the next topic right. Her test are nothing on what she lectures on and she says to learn all this information and asks like one question on that topic .
Shes a good professor! Very thorough with her lecture is able to connect her lecture to everyday life to make it easier to understand, however her exams are hard! You will definitely need to go over your notes and PowerPoints again, ask questions!!! Some of the way she word her exams will make no sense unless you ask her to clarify.
Make sure you have enough time to review lectures and PowerPoint. She brags how even other AP professors cant pass her exams. She is patient, but definitely expects students to know the topic immediately. She is known for tricking students on exam questions.
If you want to learn the subject, do not take this professor by any means. I understand its hard adjusting with COVID, but she does not. She does not give extra credit aside from a couple xtra points on the hard exams. I was above average in all my exams (thanks canvas!) and I barely passed. Did i learn anything? Nope. Thanks google.
This teacher is a tough grader, and she is not clear when it comes to her assignments, group projects, and quizzes. She also gives a study guide that does not correlate to the test itself.
Awful!! Material gone over does not reflect testing.
This class was a little unorganized. The syllabus was not accurate and assignments had conflicting directions. Pages were not updated which caused a lot of confusion. The textbook was cost free but was not detailed enough. It felt like a self taught course with deadlines every few days. The tests were tricky
Tough grader. Heavy accent hard to understand. The way she words her tests is difficult it makes it seem as if she didn't mention the answer to the test question in the lectures.
Her teaching style is awful, includes study guides for test that are not helpful, since her study guides are made before she even makes the test questions. She also gives very little time for a test or exam.
She is a good professor. Her tests may seem hard, but as long as you read through lecture slides along with watching the recored lecture videos, then takes note, you will get a good grade (the lecture videos are VERY IMPORTANT). She also gave extra credit questions in each test. 4 lecture exams, 3 lab exams, canvas posts and few quizzes.
Very tough teacher. I would not take a class under her.
I would not take a class under her. She is tough and does not care for students.
She has inputted the wrong answers in some of her quizzes. The study material does not reflect what will be on the exams.
She is really great and worked really hard to make sure her students learn. She is a fair grader and her assignments are reasonable.
professor sobhanian was an outstanding educator who left a lasting impression on me. her extensive knowledge and teaching style made even complex concepts understandable. Approachable and supportive, she encouraged questions and fostered a positive learning environment. Grateful for their guidance!
This was a summer course, very intense, but if you follow her directions and went to lectures then you could pass with a good grade.
Hard class but you gotta work hard. Thanks for your amazing support.
I took the 8 weeks course for the 250 and 251 series to get to nursing school. If you follow her directions and don't miss her classes you will be fine.
Thank you, professor.
I took a 5-week summer class. It was tough but if you don't miss class and go the tutoring center, you can get a good grade. Don't be shy, ask questions. watch her videos on youtube if you can't go to the lecture.

Dr.Sobhanian seemed really nice at first and then completely changed after the second day. Honestly would not recommend if you can not do fast paced courses. There is a lot of things to remember and there are so many quizzes. Good luck on the class if you choose to take it.
heavy accent. lots of spelling and grammatical errors in her study guides, assignments, exams... very disorganized structure of course. minimal lectures with only 5% of material being covered. labs are trash in her class. overall lousy professor. was not even present on first day of class in an accelerated course.

Extremely difficult and somewhat unclear grading criteria.
I wont ever take it again. ready for hell
Dr. Sobhanian's classes are a standout - her teaching style is engaging and her support for students is unparalleled. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for my study prep, complementing her clear explanations and personalized guidance.
Wonderful teacher, really engaging despite being an 8am lecture. The homework is exactly what's on the test, and the labs are really easy but you do work in groups. If I needed any more bio classes, I would actively seek hers to take. She was very accommodating when I missed my final due to a miscommunication
She doesn't explain good and u cannot understand her accent and gets irritated when u ask for help, she teaches like if we should know this already will not recommend at all
I took this class in spring 2024 and she was amazing, she cared and tried to help you understand the information
why are all the ratings bot ratings? they all start with the professors name and are 1-2 sentences long? I need a real rating on this class and proff!
