This teacher studders so much I could barely understand her. Her speech seems very broken and it takes her like 2 mins to complete a full sentence. Her teaching style is BORING she TRIES to be funny. Don't waste your time with her class.
She's a very nice teacher. She gives you a study guide so that helps. She's not too easy nor not too hard, but you do have to study and do some work. Interesting class.
I think she is quiet nice and EASY A.If you turn in assignments on time, and carefully study her study guide, you will get good grade.I didn't attend her class that often, but studied harded on her study guide, then I got A. :)
She is BORING!
Stop confusing people, its not an easy A.
SHE SUCKS DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TEACH TESTS ARE AMAZINGLY DIFFICULT DONT TAKE HER THE WORST TEACHER EVER
Let me give you the down low on this teacher. First off do not take this class to suffice a GE requirement. Take ANYTHING b/c this one is way too hard. Sure she gives a study guide but the tests and grading is VERy subjective! GOOD LUCK
She has an accent because she's chinese. Her class is boring but you can get an A if you are patient enough to stay her class until the last exam. she will try hard to give you a very good grade for the final exam, so you eventually get an A for this class.*she never dismisses her class early*
Her class is very boring, she teaches in a very low monotone voice. It's hard to stay interested even if you tried. Try not to take this class for a GE requirement, even if it's your only choice. It's just too painful. SHE SUCKS!
Talk about a hard class!! 1 Presentation, 1 Research paper, 1 Museum Paper, 8 weekly papers, 1 midterm, 1 final, and participation points (whatever that means). 100% Lectures. The only easiness part is, she might grade on a curve and she might let you redo your papers if they didn't do well. She likes correcting people's presentations a lot :(
This lady is by far the most horrible instructor in the history of bad instructors. She's a nice lady and all, but she is very unclear. Do all of us a favor and don't sign up for her class; there has to be a better alternative. If you self taught yourself art history you would probably be more educated than sitting in her class. No joke.
spaz! hard to understand because she stutters a lot. many uh's. She is very disorganized and often doesnt pass things back ontime. has wrong slides or doesnt define her criteria well enough. I didnt have an idea of my grade leading up to the final. very frustrating to communicate with. try not to take her class unless youre really patient.
She tries really hard to help everybody get an A, she drops the lowest 20% of your grade - I didn't have to take the final. Sometimes the days seem long, but other times they're great. She's not as bad as all these ratings make her out to be. Plus she brings snacks and stuff for us, she's a kind and caring teacher!
she's a way nice teacher. she allows you to do most of the things in class, like eating and sleeping. sometimes she would bring fruits and candies to treat our class. she's not actually boring, but just the stuff that she is teaching is boring. i almost sleep and late to every class, but seems she doesn't even care at all/.
I would probably not recommend this instructor to anyone interested in art history. Reason being is that the quarter system is too short for all of the info & its more suited to the semester timeframe. Also, the professor seems flustered & it adds a lot of agitation to the overall mood of the class. She's very knowledgeable but seems disorganized.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. Extremely unorganized; TERRIBLE slide lectures;too much material for one quarter. Any interest I had in art history has long faded since her class made my brain melt onto the floor.DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR ANY REASON. She may be nice, but you are better off paying $100 for the textbook and reading it by yourself.
I took her class this past winter quarter, came in interested in art, left hating art. It's not a hard class, just a very huge work load. Also, she will not give any excused attendances unless you bring a doctors note, etc. Only good thing about this class is your grade starts from a 120%. I would not recommend this class in general. Too many rules
I legitimately hated this class. She is very difficult to understand, because she talks in a voice with incredibly low volume. On top of not being able to hear her, she stutters constantly. She doesn't explain any of her assignments, nor does she specify a due date. I wouldn't recommend her at all. The challenge isn't the material, it's her.
She really knows what she's talking about and thinks critically about the material she teaches. She really reads through student work and leaves good comments. I respect her for that. However, smart as she is, she isn't the best teacher. She isn't always very clear in her instruction and is a harsh grader but she drops the lowest 20% of your grade.
Interesting class. Come prepared to do your part and you should succeed and do well. Everything is straightforward, follow everything on syllabus and you got your A! Not meant for students who wanna slack off and not come to class and expect an A. bonus: she takes off lowest 20% of grade and allows study guide for tests!
Worst professor ever. Does not know how to teach.Talks in a mono tone and does not engage with the class but continues in her own little world. Tried my best and still only got a B. Worst professor ever.
just go to every class. it's boring, but deal with it if you want an A. just pay attention to the study guide and pass all the requirements
I didn't go to class for a solid 3 weeks, still ended up with an A-. As long as you do your work, you should be fine. Her class is boring but just turn everything in and participate occasionally. Late work is accepted and her tests are exactly like her study guides.
She is super kind and very understanding if you speak with her! Although she does drag on with her lectures. I personally find the subject interesting. She isn't hard if you pay attention in class. She allows you to bring her study guides to the exams (with your own notes on it) and drops 20% of your lowest overall grade.
The class is hard and she does not return assignments, so you don't really know what your grade will be. You can drop 20 of a 120 pts in the class and the final is 20 pts, so I didn't have to take it. I am used to Chinese accents, so had little trouble. Textbook was USELESS. Could read it 3 times and still nt get much out it - lectures better.
Yes this class is quite easy to pass. 120 % with everything, so you can drop 20%, which is going to be my final. But honestly, its not worth it. She is extremely unclear in everything from assignments and due dates to her lectures and what she goes over in class. Half the crap she goes over isn't even on the tests, Definitely don't recommend.
all i have to say is that I hated this class. She is a nice person but I believe teaching is not meant for her. i dreaded going to that class every week. Just do all the assignments and yes she drops the lowest 20% of your grade
she is boring. However she is really nice and easy-going.The class itself is not hard at all if u study the guide she gives. Here's what u do, go in class, sit next to a cute girl, and enjoy ur A.
One of the worse teachers I have ever met, possibly the worst. Constantly late to class or 30 seconds before class starts. Her phone goes off every class. Really opinionated teacher, rather than just giving facts and dodges student questions. She sounds like she is just reading off a script. The most unprofessional professor I have experienced.
I thought the class was OK. She drops the lowest 20% of your grade and gives you many extra credit opportunities to get an A. Her lecture isn't very well organized, but she is very nice. It's an easy A, but the class was brutal as far as interest level goes.
Very slow to grade, so assessing progress is difficult. Often unclear with requirements. Lots of reading, multiple book purchases. Weekly multiple choice and essay (3 mini-essays) quizzes are timed. Grading criteria, per assignment, is very arbitrary. Poses very general prompts but wants only specific answers. Must parrot material. A grinder class.
Avoid her at all cost! She takes a long time to grade your work. You have 2 major essay assignments that is worth 13 of your grade that she will not post scores until after the quarter. The first one is 1 month before quarter end and the other is two weeks. I kept emailing her about it, but would always avoid answering .
She demands students to do many assignments, but the grade criteria that she has been using is so generous. That means you will get a good grade unless you skip the class and assignments. I got an A. Believe me, she is very generous on her grading.
Very boring professor. Lectures are super long and boring. Avoid at all cost!!!
The professor is tough. You need the text for the midterm and final exam in order to pass. The professor is very picky about the essay and discussion post. To be fair, she does give you a study guide to know what is going to be on the exams. I got A because I put a lot of effort to it. Slow grader and doesn't tell what part you need to improve.
I did not expect to get an A in this class. Her lectures aren't terribly entertaining, but they're not painful, either. She does try to make it interesting, and she is really nice.
Unclear Instructions. 1000+ words each week. Four timed tests total (technically 8. Multiple choices test and writing part). During test week, you need to write your regular 1000+ words AND study hard for those tests AND spend 2.5 hours taking the tests. Some concepts tested are not in book nor lecture pdf. Hardest class I took ever.
This instructor is excessively critical when it comes to grading. If you comment something similar in nature to another student's post in the online discussion, she will not grant you full homework credit. Considering the amount of people in the class, she should expect to see similar posts. Barely used the required texts.
Just, dont take her. She's a really harsh grader. Her instructions are VERY unclear and vague. When you email her a question about anything, her answers are vague also. not recommended. trust me, not worth your time and money. I'd give her a 0 if I could. The beginning of the quarter started off with around 35 people, and more than half dropped.
Avoid taking this online class at any cost. She is nice, but everything else is so vague and unclear, from her instructions, to the lecture, and her grading criteria. A lot of assignments every week, and papers too. However, she gives you tons of extra credit. You have to finish 3 forums and reply to 2 others students' post EVERY WEEK.
It would be nice if the lecture portion was more than just uploaded slides from an in an in-person class. There is no audio from an actual lecture to go with her slides. She's always horrible at keeping up with grading all of the assignments. She is consistently 4 weeks to get grades done. Still waiting for mid-term grades from a month ago
I thought she was an amazing teacher. She really knows art, she's been a curator of the Asian museum in SF for the past 11 years and she knows her stuff. She has full knowledge of many cultures and their art history, after meeting with her I found her to be an inspirational woman and truly loves art, it's her passion! You will learn a lot from her
Super easy online GE class. An 8-10 question module due every Sunday, almost all are multiple choice. Midterm and final are multiple choice too and they are exactly the same questions on the study guide she gives out. She provides lecture videos which are very clear and straightforward to understand. 2 discussion posts or replies a week. Take her!

This is a pretty straightforward class. Participate in discussions 2x a week, watch all of the lectures, and turn in assignments on time and you should be golden. Lectures can get boring at times, but Prof. Lee does her best to make the topics fun and exciting! There is also a very easy extra credit assignment that can be done in less than 1 hour

I took INTL10 and ARTS 2G both Online from Professor Lee and it was an easy A. Reading, 1 discussion post, and a quiz in which all answers are on Google every week. There is was a final and an essay which were both really easy! I recommend taking her to fulfill GE requirement.

Kam Lee is the best! Her online INTL10 class is very simple and easy to pass. I am very into art so I feel like I got really into it and walked away learning a lot from her. She is the best option to take for this course at this school. Her classes fill up very quickly but she offers multiple sections for her online course.

She's a super nice professor, offers extra credit, and has a clear grading criteria. I took her class for GE and honestly being just for GE her class was so extra. Be prepared to read & learn a bunch of study slides to only be tested on 3 - 5 of them. I liked her, but it was a lot of work. I did pass though.

Lee is a real gem and De Anza is lucky to have her! Genuinely cares about students & goes above and beyond in her job. Her enthusiasm is so contagious that you'll be geeking out about Art. Yes, even if you hate Art! Amazing lectures, fair exams, tons of EC, fast grading. Take her, you're in for a treat!

I am currently taking Professor Lee's online INTL10 class and it is definitely an easy A. Assignments take very little time, though there were a lot of them, but she grades them on completion. Her lectures were very clear and outlined everything you needed to know. For homework , you can just skim through them and she will give you an easy A.
Professor Lee was awesome. Always clear directions and great feedback. She always responds to questions in a timely manner, and she knows so much about the subject of anthropology. It was a pleasure to take her class and I learned so much from the experience. Would definitely recommend her to Everyone. A definite must while at De Anza!
So Kam Lee is amazing teacher, so she is very clear on what needs to be done. She gives class points every day, but you can only get the class points if you do the homework from the previous night. She grades based off effort so if you do the homework, it's an easy A. Also during class you almost always work in groups.
She is the worst art history teacher ever. The lecture doesn't provide any answers for quizzes, so you need to look for it by yourself. and you have to write lots of papers. SUCH A STRESSFUL SUMMER CUZ OF HER CLASS
I thought the material was really interesting, but the class wasn't the best. Lectures are just slides with minimal information on them, and there are a substantial number of assignments (research paper, tests (some of which had short answer sections), and activities). Not too difficult, but definitely not as engaging as I had hoped.
Easy A if you do all the assignments and extra credit. The discussions were sometimes interesting but some assignments were watching low quality YouTube videos. Lecture slides felt disorganized. 4 timed tests with multiple choice and essay, which required the textbooks. 2 essays. Kind of a lot for the summer but manageable if you just spend time.
She's nice but so much to do for a GE class. So many assignments due every week. If you're majoring in something in art its a great class otherwise, PICK SOME OTHER CLASS. I'm a bio major and it's been really hard to keep up with all of her assignments on top of my actual major classes "chem, math, bio"
she is such a tough grader and is very specific with how she wants you to word your discussion posts, and if you leave something out she takes off points. which I dont get because her lecture slides arent helpful at all and dont contain any useful information, its just pictures with captions and questions
All I have to say is, do not take this class. Professor Lee, at least for her online class provides nothing but images in her "lectures" and consistently deducts random points here and there for minor technicalities. When emailed she responds with what seems like auto generated responses without answering the question. Grades slowly. Not Good.
She doesn't teach, makes you search and guess answers on your own, and when it isn't what she was looking for, she docks points and goes in on you in the comments. DON'T EXPECT STUDENTS TO GET THE CORRECT ANSWERS IF YOU NEVER TEACH IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Professor Lee is nice. Interesting class, I actually learned a lot. Cons: Her slides only had images and questions, very little information, had to find answers and interpretations yourself. Extra points are abundant so getting an A is not hard if you do all weekly hw: around 2 posts(<250words/ea)+4 replies. the workload is fine but not chill.
There are study guides to everything but it's very hard to find the right answers when she can literally pick any term or word we might have read from this 500 page textbook with fine print. The work is definitely manageable, but you wont get all your work graded even after the final. Definitely not a free and easy GE, but definitely not hard.
Probably since I'm born and grew up in Asia, I could well handle this course, a lot of materials are familiar and easy to be comprehended to some extent. I took Arts 2G online and got A+ even though the assignments were indeed heavy, but if you use her study guides to review the final and midterm, you'll succeed for sure.
SO MUCH READING! In my online class, there's about 5-8 modules due every Saturday. She gives you OLD (almost black and white) videos which you have to write response to and the textbooks are from 1998. Such a boring lecture, lots of reading and writing essays. Midterm is multiple choice & two essays & one comparison. I'm switching to P/NP
so much work that makes even somewhat interesting topics seem dull and tedious. you have to be extremely interested in history, art, AND ART TECHNIQUE to actually enjoy the class. lecture slides are useless because she just asks questions within the slides without including any answers. overall, a class that had potential but was made boring.
It was easier bc I took this class online. Turned in couple things late & she either graded it like normal/took off very few points. Lectures were not helpful AT ALL. Provides a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Lot of terms/history/bkgd to remember. She looks for certain points in your responses. Write a lot/pretend to care & you'll be fine.
Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT take her. I took her class in the summer and her grading system is INSANE. YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT GRADE YOU ARE GONNA GET. SHE TAKES POINTS OFF FOR THE MOST MINOR THINGS IN DISCUSSION. I WAS SO NERVOUS THE WHOLE TIME. I TOOK 5 CLASSES THIS SUMMER AND SHE HAD THE MOST WORK EVEN COMPARED TO CLASSES LIKE CHEM.
I wouldnt recommend taking this class. The lectures are NOT helpful at all. You have to figure everything out by yourself by reading, which is fine, but she only asks questions on her lecture slides and does NOT answer them. You cannot expect students to know answers to your questions if you dont teach them about it first.
I know this is an online class but that really isn't an excuse for some of this stuff. These lectures ask us more questions than teach and these weekly assignments with our fake canned responses to our classmates isn't really doing us favors either. I will say it's easy to coast some of these grades but definitely re-evaluate your plan professor.
This was the hardest class I took during my first year, not because of the difficulty of the work but because of the amount and unreasonable pacing. Her grading is very unclear and she takes forever to finish, likely because of the length and amount she assigns. The textbook was hard to read and her lectures weren't useful despite their length.
Everything about her class was somehow both incredibly vague and overly specific at the same time. Makes Powerpoints that are 95% images with no captions or useful info, and then expects us to provide the detailed history behind each artwork. Will not hesitate to dock points for tiny reasons; I have yet to receive full marks on a single assignment.
Poor teaching and lots of homework
Professor Lee is a nice person but the course is mostly from the online textbook. Her expertise is Asian art--don't take a general art class from her! -Assignments that aren't really engaging or organized. -She doesn't really teach the material -Doesn't give useful feedback on student presentations. She just says 'Ok
I have taken Art Appreciation courses before. Generally, they are to excite you about art and give you an overview of some history. So Kam Lee's grading was very unclear, her lectures were scattered with way too much information and then skimming over things she wasn't interested in. Massive amounts of homework and assignments.
The exams felt impossible, as we were often given little time for an absurd amount of challenging questions. I enjoyed the InQuizitives, as they were easy As, however the rest of the assignments were hard to keep up with. Towards the end of the quarter, more assignments came in, and it became a challenge to keep up with everything.
Terrible professor. I've had no pleasure attending her class. Horrible instruction, no weekly structure, hard grading. I needed a Humanities, I should had taken Modern Dance. Plus she accused me of cheating with AI. Just stay away.
nice teacher
Really strict to your assignment, I don't know what went wrong for my discussion and project, but she deduct lot of points. and the lecture she offers is horrible, not clear at all.
I strongly dislike Inquizitive. Her class is extremely difficult, and she grades very harshly. I highly recommend avoiding her class. She doesn't explain concepts well—she just reads off the screen and doesn't seem to care about her students. I still have yet to recieve a grade im hoping for an A
