The best math teacher I've had here. This might not be saying much if you are familiar with UMD's math department, but it's something. Very helpful and goes slow so everyone will understand.

Very organized & prepared. Speaks with a heavy accent, though -- makes it tough for some people. Seems nice at first, but at times gets annoying. In the class -- seems helpful, outside of it -- not so much. I'd take him again, though. Good overall.

Sokratis is an awesome teacher. He is very smart and effectively transmits his knowledge to the students. He genuinely cares about his students learning. He has a slight greek accent but you must be a moron if you can't understand what he's saying.

This teacher is one of the top teachers. He does have an small accent but if you give it a chance you will understand it easily. Takes time to make sure ppl know the material.I highly recommend him. class might be slow but you will know it well.

Accent is a bit thick, but you can usually understand him. Very good at getting his idea across, but the "final project" was awful. Couldn't communicate what it even was and didn't put it in the syllabus. I ended up rolling a bunch of dice the day before it was due and got an "A".

He is an excellent teacher, very easy class. It was a little bit difficult understanding the accent...but once you got over it, he was very willing to help you get those extra points.

Sokratis is the best teacher in the University! He is extremely helpful and is very clear. He cares about all of his students. If you go to class it is easy to get a good grade.

He is the best math professor ever.. first of all, i hate math but he made it very easy to understand. you dont need to buy a book or anything, he gives you the notes. but it is important to show up to each class or you can do kinda bad on the test. PS: he is really really really really really cute.

I dislike math and im not a math major (i'm ENL), and Sokratis is honestly one of the best professors at UMD (not to mention best I have ever had), by far. He is very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. If I was a math maj, id def take more classes with hi. Always go to class, get tutoring when needed, and hopefully you will enjoy him as much as I.

I took the MGT 345 Class with him in the summer and I will have to say that he is one of the best teachers. He tries to make people laugh as well as enjoy making learning fun. His tests aren’t that bad as long as you have a good foundation to basic algebra skills. Otherwise, you will learn and understand him greatly.

How could you not like him? He's a great person and prof. I actually learned things! He's funny as hell too!

If you fail this class, you just simply didn't put the effort in at all. One of the best professors on campus. Gladly willing to help out any student in trouble of failing if you put the effort in. Pretty nice and funny too.

Awesome Prof! I never liked math and formulas. I had a hard time understanding the concepts but Sokratis is the BEST teacher I've ever had. He made the class exciting, easy, and enjoyable. Take any class he teaches. You won't regret it!

I had Sokratis for POM 212 and 333. The notes he gives are very helpful and he's always willing to help you. I highly reccommend taking his classes. He is he a brilliant professor and a great man. He's always smiling and joking. Make sure you go to class regularly or you'll quickly find yourself falling behind. I'd definitely take him again.

This guy is by far the best professor at Umass Dartmouth. He is a great guy and only takes attendance on the first day, BUT you need to go to class because a lot of the things he does in class are on the tests. Lots of handouts but they help you in studying for the test. Really really funny guy too. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN FOR ANY POM CLASS!!!!

Absolute truth: BEST TEACHER IN ALL OF UMASS. I had given up all hope in teh professors at umass until i met sokrtis, I have a lot of respect for him. He teaches, hes clear, he cares, and I learn. Take as many classes as you can with him. Never take a class with peter hughes, lawrence matika, bulent Kobu, or Dennis toprac.

This is the best professor at Umass dartmouth . He makes everything so easy to understand and really cares about his students. Gives a crazy amount of leeway and you can make up anything you've ever missed pretty much. Greatest math professor i've ever had take as many classes with him as you can he helps you with everything even your other classes

By far the best professor at UMass. He's there for you whenever you need him and is willing to help you at any given time. Absolutely hilarious as well as extremely intelligent. Genuinely cares about his students' well being. I considered him more of a friend than a professor.

Usually when you see somone as the best professor at Umass you don't believe them, however this is not the case here because professor Koumas is the best teacher I've had yet. Awesome professor! His class is very well taught and the tests are right off the material given in class. A little hard to follow along if you dont attend class. No textbook just handouts in class. Overall he's a great guy and shows a lot of interest in the students doing well. Very enthusiastic about the subject. Sometimes he does joke a little too much with the students and is a little insulting. The topic itself he teaches can be difficult.

This professor is awesome. He makes sure everybody understands the material to the best of his ability before he moves on with the work. You don't need to the buy the textbooks because he gives out slides of all the information you need and does a lot of practice problems in class. I would take him again if I could! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

If you go to UMass Dartmouth and need to take any POM classes he is hands down the only professor your should take. I've taken POM 212 and POM 345 with him. He gives very good notes, and in both classes did not require to book because his notes are that great.

Prof. Koumas is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on. He likes to keep the whole class engaged with his sense of humor. He is always available to help and really works hard to accommodate everyone's schedules. He provided all assignments so we didn't have to buy books.

I wasn't so sure about him at first because I didn't get to know him so I was shy to ask for help but he really makes sure you understand, he's funny always trying to crack jokes in class and once you get over the accent he's a great teacher. I had his wife for stats she's also amazing and what she does.

Excellent professor! If you struggle with math PLEASE take him! He truly wants his students to succeed. Do the online tests, show up and ask questions if you have them and you will pass! You will need a T84 calculator but no book ! He gives you everything you will need :)

I took professor Sokratis Koumas for an online math course. His work load is fairly easy and he even went and gave students extra points on assignments/exams where he felt it was deserved after looking at our work. I will be taking him again in the fall (in person). He is a genuine guy who cares about his students doing well.

he's a great professor! he does go pretty fast with a chapter every class or every 2 classes with a homework assignment due after every chapter. no textbook but did need an access code. would 100% recommend

Professor Koumas is very engaging and genuinely wants his students to do well. Keep up with the material and study the concepts before class. He values participation highly. There is no homework besides online quizzes. The final is cummulative so save and review your notes periodically. Don't expect to hide in the back during class.

Great summer course. If you can do it in 12 days, you don't have to buy the Pearson access code. Lot's of online HW and tests but super easy if you actually do the work. I did this course in 6 days and it sucked but was so worth it for 3 credits. Highly recommend the professor too, great guy. Take this if you need to transfer it to your Univ!!

Solid professor, but his tests are insanely difficult. Spent hours studying and the highest grade I ever got was an 80. He does care for his students and is very available to help, but some of the material on exams was only glanced at, so be prepared to teach yourself.

Koumas is great! His lectures and notes are very organized and clear. Gives practice tests! He is very knowledgable regarding the subject and UMD. He truly cares about his students and if you put the effort into his class he will make sure that you pass. With that in mind, if you don't show up and show little effort, he will call you out on it lol.

This professor has been one of the greatest math teachers I've ever had. His ways of teaching us was extremely clear yet quick. Every single class he would project his notes on the projector and literally start from literal scratch with you. It's like as if he is taking notes with you but he explains every step.

This class is a breeze with Professor Koumas. The workload is manageable, and he's happy to give extra points if you put in the effort. Definitely use Unstuck study and the free textbook to ace this course.

He isn't tough but will call people out for not doing the work- but it just means he cares! Attend class and do the work and this might be the easiest A ever. I got an A- and I hate math.
