very nice professor!
Very nice and helpful. Gives a lot of partial credit on exams.
The class was pretty easy and she took time to explain and review. Her accent made things difficult to understand though. Over all, considering it was a math class... it wasn't too bad.

The worst teaching skills I have ever encountered. Doesn't teach just reads from the text and copies to board. Zero communication skills. Limited English Vocabulary. Strong foriegn accent. No confidence. No style. And just laughs at things, when doesn't understand whats going on.
Poor teaching skills. Taught straight from book. Would just do examples for entire class time. Always reviewed for quizzes and tests, and most questions came from review. If you are a good learner and dont get lost easily, she is the prof. for you. Tests arent too hard. C- overall grade if give her
great professor, taking calc for business this semester with her.
cant speak english for nothing. if u know your math, u can pass, but if ur there to learn, it'll be hard. she teaches straight from the book, well all she does is examples, i wouldnt call it teaching. only good thing about her is she gives extra credit in her tests. not worth it though.
gives crdt 4 showing wrk in tests, practices a lot and reviews everyhting b4 test, tough class but she teaches really good, compared to other teachers that only set do 1 example and never review. if u go 2 all classes and practice her reviews you can easily get a B. but the class IS tough
awesome teacher...i class was a breeze...not only is it easy material, but she gives reviews before the tests and they are VERY HELPFUL!!...problems done in reviews are almost identical to the tests and quizzes...the only hard test was the final!
Excellent professor! You do not have to do any homework in order to pass her class. Study from in-class exercises and her reviews and you will do fine in all her quizes and tests.
Great prof. Highly recommend her.
She's great, her reviews are exactly as the test!
She can't speak English if her life depended on it. If you're good in math, then her accent won't matter because she does give good reviews. However, if you're bad at math... DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. YOU WILL FAIL! This is because, again, her accent makes it impossible for anyone to understand her.
Im taking her now, and she is completely understandable, i mean she has one or two word that sound a little off, but she is understandable. Someone is just mad because they got their grade. Anyway, she goes a little fast sometimes but she slows down with in class do it your self examples that let you catch up.
Her teaching skills are good, but her accent is strong. BUT shes a great teacher, if you want to pass she gives you the oppurtunity. She welcomes you in her office, shes tutors, and even lends you help books. If you show interest she'll help you out.
She's an awesome teacher, she knows her stuff.I LOVED her.She makes the quizes and tests super easy just make sure you dont fall behind too much. Do the study guide or whatever she posts in her website 2 days before the quiz and you have a good grade for sure. She has an accent but its not bad, you can understand her perfect!!! definitely take her!
STRONG ACCENT, HAD TO TEACH MYSELF, SO IF YOU CAN STUDY ALOT AND TEACH YOURSELF U CAN PASS.. SHE DOES GRADE EASILY AND GIVES YOU POINTS AT LEAST FOR TRYING.
reviews before every quiz or test, and the quizzes and tests are the same problems she reviews just with different #s, got an A in the class
She's a great professor but teaches super freakin' fast! Gives reviews before quizzes/tests which are very helpful. Second test was super hard so study big time for that one! Over all good.
strong accent. hard to understand. the tests were superrrr hard. i wouldnt advise
If you say this teacher is hard its not true, its the material thats tough. She is an excellent teacher. Shes fair, will never trick on exams, and cares about your grade if you show interest. Her reviews are EXACTLY what is going to be on the tests. You have to study and do the hw because nonetheless its still math but she is the BEST prof to take.
I have taken the class three times, and this is the best business calculus teacher there is, the class is hard but she makes it easy with the reviews before every quiz en exam, the quizzes help out a lot, Excellent teacher
She is an amazing teacher. Cal was a breeze this semester. She teaches you what you need to know for the class and all her reviews for the quizes and exams are the same exact format. All she does is change a number. Just do the review and go to her class and you will pass with flying colors
This was my second time taking MAC 1105, the 1st time, my teacher was sooo boring that I decided never to attend class, but this teacher is the BEST.She makes everything so easy, explains doing examples, her tests/quizes is exactly was is done in class. GREAT PROFESSOR. Does have an accent, but not a bad one,you are able to understand her.A+ Teach
She has a nice french accent. She is a genius of mathematics. Her grades are fair and her lectures are easy to understand. I failed this class twice with another professor and I got a C+ with her. I love her.
Worked hard for a C. No curve at the end. Gives extra credit quizzes
I can't say tahqt she is the best Calc II teacher in the school because I haven't taken all of the teachers, but I can't imagine a better one. Make the class easy, gives tons extra credit, but she doesn't curve. Very clear, tells you exaclty what you need to know for the test. Very clear! No surprises. Great Prof!!!!
Very nice lady that tries her best to help you out, gives quite a few extra credit quizzes and is pretty clear with what she expects from you for the tests, still the class is really hard though and she goes way too fast but for Calc II i would recommend her
Great teacher explains very well and gives extra credit, 3 test along with 5 quizzes, she is a great teacher its calculus 2 that makes this class hard
the class isn't really hard, but the problem is that she tries to cover too much material in too little time, then on exams she says everything will be on the test, when in reality on a fraction is. She does give extra credit quiz's, Her exams for this class suck!!!
She is very nice and funny at times. She cares for your grade if you put the effort in the class as you should. Do the homework and you should understand it. Her lectures are not that great but you can always go to Prof.Rosenthals(I think that is the name) DVD's on the math help page. Test were not that bad but keep up with the quizes.
Very hard material, but its easy if you go to every class. I haven't had a math class since high school(4 years ago), and I received a B+ in her class. She helps you out a lot and really cares about you learning. In my 4 years of college, she's the only professor Ive had that remembered the students names. Definitely take it with her!
she is a great prof but it is a hard class go to her office and she will be glad to help u
Take Calc III with her...Best teacher. One of the few teachers at FIU that actually care about their students. TEsts and quizzes are just like reviews and HW problems
Worst Teacher I have ever taken. Knows the material but incapable to teach. Thinks that everything is intuitive to all and makes you feel like an idiot for not understanding. You are on your own. Tricky exams, lots of memorizing formulas & identities. If you hesitate on the exam you won't have enough time. Make sure you count this class like three.
She's great. Take this class with her. If you pay attention in class, do your homework, you shoud not have any problem. She teaches you short cuts and tricks to lean the material. Best mas ptofessot I've ever had.
Truly an awesome professor. Not only is she a good teacher, but the way that her class is structured makes it easier for those who are taking calc the first time. Very understandable and fair; if you put in time and effort an A is attainable.
She is very friendly, and helpful. There are quizzes EVERY class, she forces you to stay on top of the material. Only 2 exams, and a cumulative final. There are no cheatsheets, so you'd better have a good memory. Tons of formulas to remember..that's the only bad thing about this class. Her teaching is alright, but just use your book for everything.
I highly recommend her. You definitely have to earn your grade but she makes it easy to do so. She gives 18 in-class quizzes that keep you up to date with the material, and 3 exams. The class is fairly easy to pass as long as you keep up with all the quizzes. I give her an A+ for the way she splits up the material.
shes is a good professor if you are extremely good at math. other than that, for me, she just explains everything too too fast plus has a thick accent. going to class is mandetory since you have a quiz every class, which at the end, all those quizzes counted together count as an exam. there are 2 other exams, midterm and a cumulative final. no goo
She is a nice lady, but her accent makes her impossible to understand. She gives a quiz EVERY CLASS, which leaves no time for her to teach so you basically end up teaching yourself. In other words, SHE DOES NOT TEACH. She will cover two sections of difficult material in ten minutes leaving out LOTS of valuable info, then quiz you on it next class.
She is very helpful but class is not an easy A. No cheatsheets so better learn all the formulas (only really bad part. Quizzes every class which helps a lot and does care about your grade.
Do no take her if you can avoid it. First off, she goes too fast and gets somewhat frustrated when you do not understand the concepts on the first attempt. Also, there is a quiz EVERY class, and her accent is hideous. The only thing I understood her say was, "You have to try!" Duh! I already knew that before I wasted my time in her class! DON'T!
1. payattention very closely to stuff she goes over bc i will be on the test. 2. she goes real fast 3. you will have to teach your self so start early. 4. dont miss review days for exams. you will pass if you follow these steps. or you will die and hate the teacher. your going to have study alot on your own. 5. not an easy class
Very heavy accent. Skips too many steps. Unclear about what is and is not on exams. Has said things will not be on exam and then they are on exam. Exams are very long and cover the most difficult material. The entire class failed the first exam, so she gave a re-take, which was one single extremely difficult question. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
First, I will acknowledge she is not the "clearest" professor, but if you do the exam reviews, you will pass b/c they're really similar! She is BY FAR the only professor who sincerely cares about her students, which not many do. She pushed me to be a better student (I'm lazy) and realize my potential. She has an amazing heart. I love her.
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs. She does not explain the material well at all. More than half the class dropped the course or failed! Plus she has a thick accent. 4 tests plus final and she does not curve! Save $$ and time do not take her!
She knows her stuff that you can be sure of but she expects students to know the material before hand and she moves very quickly. Though she is very helpful and understanding I wouldnt recommend her to anyone who isnt good at math.
I love math.Thought it was an easy A.Got a "C".I work 40/wk.Teacher goes fast, skips steps, lot of material 2 cover,Problems R long,U memorize alot of info, hard to understand her.MUST do homework, test R very very similar to review sheets.Xtra crd PoPquizes. Make appointments, she is very willing to help U. must study on your own a lot.I learned a LOT.
Moves too quickly, pop quizzes everyday that count as extra credit on tests, a bit hard to understand. Don't take if you're not the strongest math student.
I am really good in math and I got a D. She not that horrible but she rushes alot. When she teaches a concept she shows one example and expects you to figure it out on your own. Do not recommend if you are terrible at math. She was really nice and gives out extra credit.
She is really nice and will help in her office hours, but its extremely difficult to pass. Unless ALL your time is devoted to her class forget. Oh and she goes ahead of every other calc 1 class.
This professor is one of the nicest I have ever met. She works problems with you in class and is willing to help you outside of class. Gives a lot of quizzes that help your grade if you study for them and there are no surprises in her tests. I recommend her if you are willing to put in time into the class. She really is a great, caring professor.
She is awesome. She learned everyone's name 1st time she handed tests back. She knows off memory the flaws in your test. You need to buy the book to learn the formulas, but if you pay attention in class, you will get most of it without reading the book. She has a nice French accent, it's not bad. She goes fast, but better because slow is boring.
Do what your supposed to and review the classwork and you test reviews you will pass this class. She is by far the best Math professor at FIU. She is willing to help you at all cost. If you don't understand something take advantage of office hours and the learning aid. She is straight to the point. She shows you how, then you do it on your own.Great
Definitely a challenge! Very helpful outside of classroom and is a fair grader, she focuses more on your steps rather than on the answer. She moves however, EXTREMELY fast compared to all other calculus professors. I dedicated 20+ hours outside the classroom and it was still tough.
Definitely a challenge! Very helpful outside of classroom and is a fair grader, she focuses more on your steps rather than on the answer. She moves however, EXTREMELY fast compared to all other calculus professors. I dedicated 20+ hours outside the classroom and it was still tough. I would definitely recommend to stay away!!
Kouemoue is a wonderful professor, she really does want the best for her students. Although it can be intimidating because she does go through the material kinda fast but she wants to cover all bases. But,in hard topics she will give extra time for that. She is kind & ready to help with anything, just ask. Just study & pay attention & youll be fine.
She is smart and really knows calculus which means she skips steps and just expects you to know what she did. It was terrible for me and I am a math major. I hated the class and her teaching style. Plus she moves on whether you understand or not. You can go to her office but I do not think it will help much. Take as a last resort.
She goes to fast, she should slow down and explain her steps better. Skips a bunch of steps and loses me. The weekly quizzes are kind of annoying too. She lets you make them up, but still kind of nerve wrecking to get tested once a week. If she did half of the examples she does now, but explained them thoroughly and slowly, she could be great.
Took this class Spring 2013. This class is not easy. Three exams, online homework and quizzes (weekly), and a final. She goes through the material really fast, but explains it well. She is really nice and she has an accent, but it is understandable. She also gives in class extra credit quizzes and study guides before each exam. It's a lot of work.
Professor Kouemou's class is very fast paced but she gives you enough material to work from to understand. She is also extremely willing to help a student out. I was at the point of failing and she helped me study to pass the test. She isnt the easiest but shes probably one of the most nicest and well meaning professors here.
Very nice lady, rushes through the material because she would rather give 45 minute quizzes every week. Would recommend only if you enjoy learning a lot of the material by yourself
Professor Kouemou is very tough. Be ready to work for the grade that you want. The A is attainable. She adjusts grades for you to get the best score. Quizzes every week and can replace an exam grade. If you're lazy don't take her. Exam can be pretty long. Overall good professor
Professor Kouemou is tough. Don't expect this to be an easy class. You need to work for the wanted grade. The A is attainable. The tests are quite long quizzes every week which can replace and exam grade. Go to lecture, read the book. Overall good professor
First, she is an amazing and helpful person, and she is very smart. However, as a Professor she fails horribly, she skips steps and her accent makes trying to understand diffcult.
Dr. Kouemou is by far one of my favorite professor's at FIU. She is so patient and does everything in her power so you can understand and pass the class. She gives out a lot of extra credit, and if she feels you did poor she will give a make-up exam. Calculus is not an easy subject but she supports you through it the whole way. TAKE HER!
I love Professor Kouemou. The subject is hard but she does her best to help you understand it. She'll go over anything the class doesn't understand. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Tests are hard but she's a very fair grader. Genuinely cares about you if you care about the class.
Do the revies at least 3 times and go to TA
Professor Kouemou and amazing teacher as well as person. She is helpful when you have problems with what you are learning and provides enough extra credit opportunities to pass the class. If you don't pass, its because you didn't try. Go to class, she sometimes gives XCREDIT for attendance. TAKE HER SHES AMAZING! Taking her for Calc 2 next semester
Best teacher that a student can ever dream to have!
Her exams are super long, which is better. She teaches all the material in class, and helped us understand the concept better.I think she is the best teacher ever.I would take her class over, and over again.I was bad at math, but she helped me and I got an A in her class.I passed the final exam with 93%.
I am taking her now for the 1st time. Two lectures and I am very impressed. I hope to have A in her class. My friends all recommended her. Her accent is tough but her smile is worth all.
Dr. Kouemou is the best professor I have had at FIU. Even though she does have an accent, she teaches the subject very well and is very clear on everything. She does expect you to work a lot for a good grade, but for math class, you should be used to work a lot to get an A. She gives a lot of tests which are very long, but easy. I recommend her.
I took pre calc last semester and failed. Retook over summer A with this professor. She will always help when needed or asked. Gave a makeup exam for 45 tests if you did poor. She also gave extra credit questions on every exam. She will call you if you stop attending class too. She really cares about you and your grade and it shows! RECOMMENDED!!!
She has a thick accent, but understandable. She cares about students, I hate math and did not do good on the test but I still managed to pass. She gives makeups for the exams
She is actually a 3 in easiness but 2 says you have to work for it and she does make you work for it. Her teaching style is doing a problem and then having everyone do the problems in class from her handouts. I found it effective because she gets to see where someone stuggles. Tests were long spent 2-3 on each and 4 hours on the final. EC is given.
If you took calculus AP in high school, her class will be a piece of cake. I show up to class, never done the homework and I have aced every quiz and exam so far. She gives a lot of make up quizzes and she is always trying to help students. She is a very nice lady and I would take her all all over again.
I would not have passed this class if it were not for her willingness to go above and beyond. She is so nice and makes herself super available, especially for those seeking extra help. Do her reviews and in class sheets and utilize all of her help, she really does care about everyone and will know you by name very quickly. I would def recommend!
Challenging; she goes thru more material (and faster).Tests and quizzes will usually require more time than actual class. Calc 3 has the option of taking tests on Sat bc of this (their final was 6 hours long). You will love her even tho she will make you question life every now and then. The funniest, patient, most caring math prof ever!
Requires A LOT of work and practice. Failed the 1st 2 tests, but ended up with a B- as Prof. K helped out a lot. Her methods are (usually) great and easy to follow. Make sure to pay attention in class at ALL times, every minute is important. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Also uses a slight curve which helps. Overall, great, caring prof
Professor K, is an amazing teacher. Her class is challenging and you have to put in a lot of your time to really learn the material but in the end its worth it. If she knows that you are trying she will help you out. You can always go to her office hours and ask her questions and she will gladly help. She gives lots of extra credit!
if you put effort in you will pass!
Professor Kouemou is a very nice professor and she will help you in any way she can. She always had a smile on her face and likes to get to know you personally. Her tests come from the classwork. No homework really, but to go over the classworks over again. Practice is key, which is something I wish I did more of. Very lenient grader.
It's true she is there for you and offers help but what they don't tell you is that is you miss her office hours then you'll most likely not do too great. Her tests are crazy difficult and take an immense amount of time and effort as well as her weekly quizzes that can get crazy hard. Her lectures are either a hit or a miss with students.
she does teache very will but her quiz/test are hard then what she teaches. The LA and her to set up study session outside of class. The really bad thing is that she speeds through the lesson. For tests (10)/quizzes(13) EVERYTHING has to be justified and show ALL you work or you'll won't get the credit. Pick another and save yourself
Avoid if not Genius. Biggest issue is she gives the hardest problems. I find that i get the material but on test the complexity of the problem increases. She does offer tutoring sessions but i found them a waste of time when the explanations are not concise. She also speeds through first half of semester which makes your foundation of topics shaky.
I usually recommend only my friends studying engineering , science, or math to take her. Her exams are extremely difficult .But believe me, she is an excellent professor in every way. I really do think she is one of the best professers at FIU. She is super caring and wants to see her students succeed and genuinely understand the material.
Would not reccomend, she isn't clear when lecturing. Her tears are really hard and gives weekly quizzes. We only go over a few problems in class which are way easier that the tests and quizzes.
I pride my self on hard work no excuses, but she takes it over board. She gave us a test every week not a quiz a test. I understand the material, but test question are WAY harder than any question you will see in the book.
She is very helpful and offers ways for you to pass, but her tests are way harder than anything that you will see in the homework or anywhere else. She speeds through material and lack organization within her lecture so you never know what section she is in.
I have come across with many professors, but she does not seem to be helpful at all. She gives vague answers when I asked for help. It's hurtful since I am here on scholarships.
Best math teacher I've ever had!!! If you work with her she won't leave you behind. Most folks get to pass the subject with her. Best of the best!!!
Kouemou is a really great professor. The subject is not easy, but the way she teaches really helps you understand. You should definitely go to class if you want to do well. She makes you participate during class which also makes it easy to understand. Love her.
This class isn't for most. If I can paint a picture in words, I'd say Solange will hold your hand but drag you through the mud. I found Solange to be truly inspirational and I feel I have developed a better work ethic because of her. She is incredibly dedicated and genuinely cares for her students. Be prepared for class and read up on the material!
She is a really great professor, but you will have to work very hard. Her tests are not that easy but if you follow the handouts that she gives it should be fine. Very helpful, has study sessions and the tests are almost every week. Not an easy class, but if you really want to learn the subject, I highly recommend taking her.
I completely recommend Solange but only if you're dedicated enough to work for it. Personally I found that to pass this class sucessfully with an A one needs inherit math skill as well and definitely a good basis in Calc 1/2. DO NOT SKIP CLASS! Slacking will result in failure guaranteed tho.
I took Solange all the way from Calc 1 to Calc 3 (including DFQ) and I can tell you overall that if you don't try in her class you won't do well, BUT she really cares about her students and will help you out if you SEEK help. As others say you can't miss class, but you have to put the effort in.
Honestly She's very nice but her teaching is just all over the place. I wish she was more organized but she skips sections and goes back to them. The quizzes are pretty challenging and sometimes i feel she goes over the material too fast to understand it fully. I had to drop the class. She should really consider slowing down and getting organized
Dr K. ONLY gave examples you need to know for quizzes and tests, which is soo helpful. She gives a lot of partial credit, several make-up quizzes to redeem your grade, and always extra credit. Sit in the front, ask questions, study, and you will get an A. Don't slack off!
Great professor, her teaching style allows you to follow step by step. weekly quizzes so it requires a lot of outside class studying, however, by the end of the semester, you will know your stuff. I spent 2 hours studying outside of class every day but its worth it in the end. Exams are just like the problems from the quizzes & notes.
Not gonna lie, Solange is a tough tough professor; however, she does her darnest to make sure every student is given the opportunity to pass. I told her I was going to withdraw and she reached out to me personally and helped me get on track. She offers A TON of reviews outside of class, use this, it is sometimes extra credit to go. Many quizzes
Summer A consists of 4 exams (1 per week), classworks (almost daily), and the final. Take notes of everything during lectures and attend the LA's study sessions before/after class. Dr. K makes you work hard for your grade, but gives many opportunities to help you pass (classwork makeups + optional extra exam). Honestly, one of the best teachers!!!
Really cares about students. Enjoys teaching. Takes pride in having an 80% passing rate. Will help you with anything. She has a lot of LAs and uses them well to have study sessions pretty much everyday . Best professor I've had at FIU.
Theres almost weekly quizzes, but they are based completely off of The lectures. I never completed the optional homework or used the textbook, and got a high A for the class. Best professor Ive experienced. It may seem like a lot of work, but its not and its so worth it
Truly a great math professor. She genuinely cares about her students. Her lectures are concise and easy to understand, and cover all of the details. Show up to class, and you won't have to read the book Class Specifics: Grading: 8 quizzes, 8 homework assignments, 2 exams plenty of extra credit, and some opportunities to retake tests and quizzes.
This professor truly cares about her students and wants everyone to pass with a good grade. She gives plenty of extra credit and opportunity to raise your grade with extra quizzes and makeups on few things. 11 quizzes, drops 3 lowest quiz grades. She always has review sessions and will gladly help you during her office hours.
Amazing! Its almost impossible to fail her class.
I ONLY recommend you take Kouemou if you sincerely want to learn Calculus or have to also take cal 2/3. If you want an easy A or a simple cal teacher I would look somewhere else. She's excellent, but tough. She is a very fair grader though and truly wants all her students to pass. She has A LOT of reviews, gives some e.c. and drops some grades.
Definitely one of the best profs at FIU, period. Her class is extremely difficult and requires a ton of time outside of class to master. But, she teaches the material like no other prof, and if you at least show you are working hard, youre almost guarenteed to pass. I dropped out of another Cal2 section to get her class.
Great professor! Her expectations are clear, and she makes the content easy to understand. She really cares about her students and makes sure everyone has the chance to pass the course. She gives tons of extra credit and makes great use of learning assistants outside of class. Just practice the problems she goes over in class, and you will pass.
Honestly her way of teaching confused me. Shes all over the place with the chapters. Does chapter 3 section1 jumps to section 6 and comes back at section 2. I honestly thank her Learning assistants because i learned a lot more with them than with Solange. She needs to be more organized. And her tests are ridicolous, goodluck!
Professor Kouemou is a great person and teacher. Calculus is difficult on its own and this professor makes you really learn the material and understand calculus.(SO DONT SLACK) She gives you similar examples on the Classworks that will be on the quizzes and tests. 12 quizzes, 3 tests and a final. Passing grade is a 65%
Please read this if you are not a math major and aren't planning on taking calc 2!!! You may be reading these reviews and be thinking wow she will be perfect to take calc 1 with to get it out of the way.... DONT DO IT!! It will be the hardest class of your life. Even if you think your smart you have to learn alot. Take it with an easy proffessor
Took her through summer. -5 exams and a final. drops lowest grade - weekly quiz for extra credit. (Open book) -Exams are, she is very forgiving on the grading and gives tons of extra credit. for the people who say she is all over the place. I am sure those people don't attend class. she skips sections to stay within the same type of material.
Best math Professor at FIU. Really cares about her students. Jumps back and forth between chapters which makes it a bit hard to follow along with the book but notes are so good that you dont really need the book. Scale is a bit higher than other Calc classes but thats cus she gives a bunch of extra credit. Strict about cell phone use in class.
She was an excellent professor. She tries her best to make you pass by giving extra credit questions on basically every quiz and exam you take. If you listen to her lectures and go to the LA sessions at least once a week for practice, you'll definitely pass.
She's the sweetest thing ever. She really cares about your grade and has extra credit for all quizzes/exams. If you show up every class and put effort in, she will help you through anything. There is tutoring almost every day. If you skip, she'll call you out and you'll miss out on A LOT of material
She's the greatest math teacher I've had in a while. Although she made me work for my grade, I don't think I would be passing with all the help she offers inside and outside of class. Tons of extra credit but be ready to work for that A in her class. Do not miss any lectures and study for her exams to pass this class.
extremely difficult class, knows what she is teaching but you need to put A LOT of unnecessary effort in the class and she ends up grading strictly...
took her for Calc 2-3,UNDERSTAND: she believes you can only learn 30% in class, the other 70% comes from reviewing notes and going to LA sessions. she manages to have 2-3 LA sessions a week, constant extra credit, Quizzes every week, but her goal is to reinforce and boost grades. It's advanced math it sucks no matter what, at least she helps alot
Great professor who takes time to help her students outside of class. The problems on her test are difficult, but she offers extra credit to make up for it. If you want an A in this class you'll really have to work for it.
Honestly, best professor at FIU. Calc is hard no matter what but whats different about this professor is that she cares so much about you passing. Go to her office hours or review sessions (she has like 4 every week) if you don't understand the lecture still. 3 tests and a final, weekly quizzes, study guides. She will make you work for the grade.
I'm the type of student that thinks getting a good grade/learning the material depends on own effort, but this time it wasn't the case. Bottom line: she does not teach AT ALL!! You have to figure out CALC 2 by YOURSELF!! yes completely by yourself!!! Hard exams, hard quizzes, and mediocre teaching. LA doesn't help, he just laugh at your mistakes.
Dr. Kouemou is by far the BEST calc. 2 professor I have met. She will give you good feedback on where you were wrong. Calc. is a tough class, but any professor only puts in 20% of the work and the rest 80% is up to the students. You can't expect to not work and get the A. So don't whine in that class and have fun doing calc. It's no Rocket Science!
She is the greatest Math professor I ever had. However, the class was fun for me because I love Math and its always been like a hobbit for me but there were some people really struggling in the class. If you like Math or you are fairly good at it and you are willing to put the time into solving some problems, this is the class for you.
The class is extremely hard but she does a review session every week. She gives extra credit assignments pretty often. Attendance is not mandatory but if you skip she will call you out in person or email you.
The worst teacher ever. Literally she only lectures for like 5 minutes and expects the whole class to just learn the material and teach themselves. She will make you feel stupid if you don't understand her vague lectures.
She is a great teacher but Really tough and not for everyone
Cake class!! If you really wanna chill take her! I didnt anything else besides looking at my balls the whole time. You can even be watching the birds and it would still be cake.
Dr. Kouemou is gifted at teaching! Her lectures are detailed, crystal clear, and balanced with active practice. Her quizzes, exams, and grading are fair! Her class is not only special because of her quality teaching, but also because of her funny and warm personality! She loves her students!!! Multiple LA review sessions and office hours per week!
Dr. Kouemou is an amazing professor. She does go fast but it's due to her personality. Her LA's have a review session after every class and you can go to her office hours if you have questions about anything. Weekly quizzes but she's not a SUPER tough grader. She cares for her students like they were her own children. Take her, you won't regret it!
She pushes you to work harder than you ever thought possible, but it's worth it in the end. I learned so much in her class and even though it was rigorously challenging, I loved what I learned in her class. She will not rest until she is sure you have the materials you need to succeed. Taker her, you will learn more than you ever thought possible!
Look, she means well but honestly any little slip up you have she makes you feel like the world's biggest idiot. I honestly think she needs to tone down on when she gets mad at a student, besides that she just moves too fast. She's a very average prof.
Solange is a gem of the Mathematics department. She goes through material fast but she will accommodate students understand the material. She truly cares for her students and has a lot of passion when it comes to teaching. You do have to work for your grade but it is manageable when you have other classes and work.
Solange is a very good professor, the way she explains is easy to understand, she will always look for ways to help improve your grade but you gotta work for it. Only downside is that her tests sometimes are WAY too difficult but you always get chances to improve and shes not a tough grader. Best decision ever taking her for Calculus 3.
I had the honor of taking Dr Kouemou for Calc 2 & Calc 3. She is a perseverant person who will work with you to understand the material. She has countless review sessions at any time to make sure that her students are ready for the exams. Her class is very difficult, BUT she will be there every step of the way. You will learn math like never before
I really don't understand how this professor's rating is high. After the COVID she prewrites her notes speeds through her lectures and expects you to get it despite the fact that your didn't have time to ask questions or take notes. Took her only because she had highest rating of the profs this semester. Terrible and writing, confuses herself often
Solange is the absolute best math professor I've ever had. Calc II is a difficult class, there is no way around that, but this professor tries to give you every possible opportunity to pass the class. Her LA's have a review session every week and you can always go see her during office hours and is always helpful. She is a real gem of a professor.
This professor is very very fast paced, I am usually an A/B student and can keep up with classes but she is way too fast, does not give you time to process any information and does not go back. She is very on top of each student and calls on you randomly to answer questions. Has a quiz every week without enough time to finish.
She is the absolute worst, even though her tests are not that bad she grades it super harsh and even though she says she does not grafe the homework on accuracy she does. Its really hard to do good in this class.
Dont be fooled by those nice ratings you should avoid her at all cost.
The professor is very fast paced and its hard to keep up. Feels like her priority is getting through the lessons not her students properly understanding. Long and confusing homework. Not very accommodating for special circumstances (internet/computer issues, sick). Personally wouldnt take if I were you unless you have a lot of time to focus on this
Absolute worst avoid at all cost. She gives a lot of homework, each homework is 20 pages does not give you room to breath. Choose someone else
She is nice but challenging. Give lots of reviews and study guide for exams. She wants you to understand math.
Took differential for the summer and was nervous for the fast pace, but Dr. Kouemou is one of the best professors I've had. There are so many opportunities inside and outside of class to learn and participate. She offers opportunities to make up grades but be ready to take lots of quizzes. Would 1000% take again. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews
Dr. Kouemou is an amazing lecturer and is willing to assist students whenever possible. She has reviews weekly and always gives study guides for exams. Weekly quizzes that include EC at the end. I took her during summer so it was fast paced but i was able to stay on track most of the time.
The course was not easy and she makes your work for a good grade, but will help you every step of the way. I struggled understanding the concepts, but the professor was always helpful and available. She treats you with respect. You have to study for the exams make you understand the concept of the quizzes, ask as many questions. Book provided/online
Solid Choice. Read the textbook on your own time because she skims the material in class, this will help with the HW which is from the book. The lectures are more structured in a way that you are given a worksheet to do together as a class. Weekly quizzes, a good amount of extra credit, and she explains if you're stuck. Show all of your work!
Calc is hard but her class is as "easy" as it gets. She is very amiable and lenient as long as you participate and show that you care. She's super knowledgeable, but will rush through the initial explanation because she expects students to stop her if they have questions. So don't be shy. The quizzes can make or break your grade.
She is a very lovely professor but its all self-learning. She sends tons of homeworks, 5 my mathlab per work with 40 question each, she is not a tough grader.
BEST prof, my fave: set up reviews outside of class Thursdays, Sundays, and office hours Mondays.up to you if you want to do well. quiz every class always a makeup for the quiz, quiz has e.c questions. In class work, easy A. do exam reviews and u will pass the tests. lots of hw. go to la meetings. she really cares and is hilarious!-hybrid course-
Want to learn Calculus 2 the easiest way possible? Take her. She is a really nice, and caring person who will teach you exactly what you need to know about Calculus 2.
This teacher means well. She is a great teacher who focuses on teaching you concepts. Calc 2 is an intense course. I highly recommend practicing outside of class. Even though she is a great teacher, it is easy to get confused and not understand concepts during the lecture.
She really cares for her students and tries to make a connection with the whole class. She is very accommodating, but don't forget that the subject requires work outside the class. Do the homework! She will encourage you to answer on the board or ask for any clarifications you might need. Her overall teaching is very clear and well organized.
she is a fantastic professor, really cares for her students, and wants you to learn above anything. She is very lenient when it comes to extending deadlines for homework. We retake the quizzes every week to get a better grade.
She is a very nice professor who cares about her students. She really wants you to learn the material and pass, however, she gives you a lot of homework. To the point where you can't go back and review, because you will not have enough time to finish your other homework assignments. You will be overwhelmed with homework. 6-8 sections a week. RUN
I can't express how extraordinary this professor is. if you are late on the homework all you have to do is tell her and she will extend the deadline. we have weekly quizzes and that same week we retake last week's quiz to get a better grade. She hosts reviews on spring break and on Saturdays even though she doesn't have to.
I absolutely love her! She amazing and tries to make sure everyone understands what she is teaching and feels comfortable in her class. If she sees someone confused in class, she will ask them if they understand and explain it. Also she always interacts with the students by making little jokes. & she barely gives any hw, so you cannot complain.
Professor Solange is as best as it can get at FIU. Took MAC2312 with her and it is impossible for you not to pass. Pay attention at the lectures and try to go to office hours, she WILL help you but only if you show interest in passing. Homeworks are not that heavy but be prepared to practice for the tests.
Took her Summer C for Calculus I. I am terrible at math as my foundations of algebra are very poor, but she was extremely understanding and helpful. She wants to see all her students succeed. There was 3 exams and 1 final. Quizzes every week and she lets you makeup quizzes for the most part. Super understanding if you show effort. Homework optional
I do not know why this woman has good ratings because I have been in her class for 3 weeks already, and I am pretty lost. This woman just gives you notes and a learning activity, puts you into groups and that's how you learn (most of the time you learn outside of class). She is very nice but she goes over the course material way too fast.
Solange is singularly the best math professor at FIU. She cares immensely about the success of her students and will make herself available to ensure you understand and learn the material. You also get extra credit on all quizzes and exams, and she lets you do make-up quizzes on topics you're better at. TAKE HER!!!
Not the best at teaching, I learned more from her La. Even then not enough because its calc you know. Aside from that Shes very nice but if you suck at math I wouldn't take her because you will get lost very easily.
Doesn't teach very well. Will quickly explain one problem and move on to the next one expecting you to instantly understand. If you aren't great at math, you will fall behind. The LA's saved me, they teach better than the professor. The professor gives lots of partial credit on exams and quizes. Also she sometimes gives extra credit and retakes.
I took AP Calc AB in high school, so I went in with some background knowledge of the material. Regardless, she made the material easy to understand. If I needed help with a problem, either the professor or one of the LAs came over and was able to show me where I went wrong.
Professor cares a lot about watching you succeed and will constantly look out for you. If you have to take Calc2 there is no better teacher, she is the GOAT for math. If you struggle with math, make sure to take advantage of the resources the TA's provide during the semester.
If you're considering taking her for differentials, do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE HER, even if you only do it because it's online. She gives no classes and makes her TA do "reviews," EVERYTHING except for the warm-ups are generated by Pearson, which is an awful learning platform. I can't wait for the day when people stop using Pearson.
Professor Solange is an excellent math teacher. She genuinely cares about students' success and provides great resources. Use the TAs, practice often, and try unstuckstudy for extra prep - it really helps!
Great Professor all around, super nice. Gives weekly quizzes and gives optional quizzes you can take to replace a low quiz grade. Also gives Extra credit opportunituies close to exam dates. A lot of homework tho and she can sometimes speed run material. But overall good prfoessor
A great professor that cares and wants you to pass and understand the material as much as possible. 4 paper HWs. Four exams, 3 exams & final. Quizzes weekly. Many extra credit opportunities. Attending lectures & rewriting the notes from class is essential because missing 1 class can really throw you off. She gives you what you put into the class.
She is amazing. Solange is able to break down the material in a way that is easy to understand. She cares about the students and genuinely wants to see them succeed. The effort you put into the class will reflect the grade you get. There's always extra credit opportunities for exams. She is so kind and just an amazing professor.
Uses both Pearson and canvas for homework. Does not respond to questions via canvas or email. With Pearson, only gives 2 attempts, and also expects you to manually upload all work to canvas from which she can nitpick and remove points from you. Would not recommend.
Amazing professor! One of the best ones I've had at FIU for math. I took her for Calc I and Multivariable Calculus. She cares about her students succeeding and her LAs are also very helpful! She is insistent on people taking notes in class and she makes sure that you try to solve problems in class before she explains how to do it. Amazing!
I took Solange for Calculus 1 for engineering and she was a great professor. I had never taken calculus before and I ended with an A. She's very flexible with grades and she makes sure you learn the topic. We had learning assistants as well.
Very good prof, she really cares about her students. Gives weekly quizzes, BUT they do prepare you a LOT! Also has several extra credit and makeup opportunities along with attendance counting. Last third of the course was a bit challenging but she even drops the hardest exam grade out of the 3 exams before the final.
Professor K is sweet and makes sure to know all of her students by name which is something no professors do. Make sure to study and keep track of all the content as the course gets more difficult as you go on. Do all study guides for extra credit and she even gives optional quizzes to make up for ones you might've done bad on. Best cal prof.
The class itself is hard and the professor doesn't always have the best way of teaching the already difficult material. She gives many extra credit opportunities and has zoom/office hours 2-3 times a week, including the LA's. Attendance is graded and there's quizzes every week so keep up with the work. Homework was minimal, about one a week.
Idk what bad comments are about because she is one of the best math professors i've ever had. She is caring, she makes students laugh, she gives TONS of extra credit. She does NOT want you to fail and will never grade u in something she didn't teach i abt in class. Her LAs are very caring as well. I wish I could take all my calc classes w her
Lots of makeup opportunities for quizzes. Lectures are ok, bit difficult to understand at times but the TAs help a lot and she will clarify any questions you might have. Online Pearson HW, in class assignments, 3 exams and then 1 final exam. Study guides will help a lot. Not too difficult: pay attention, study a bit, and you can pass fairly easily.
If you are bad at math or thrive in solo learning, do not take her. She only lectures for 5-10 minutes max and then places you in groups. I put off this review to take another professor who was better and realized it was her teaching style. She's great IF you already know calculus. She is kind and funny, no doubt, but she is just an ok teacher.
