This guy gives very hard and long tests.. I can't understand him when he speaks and teaches. He has a heavy accent.
very hard. the toughest professor I took at LaGuardia but I've learned a lot so it was worth it. I have to warn some of you. there were some people in my slass who took that class 4 times:)
Not clear, forced us to come to the class extra days, like on Sunday!! hard exams, very hard!!
i took this professor for eco.2. His ways of teaching is complicated. he teaches half of the material which is out of assigned text. And most of the matrial learn in his class will be of no use after the semester.
He is the worst "professor" if you can even call him that. They guy does not even speak or write english. All he does is copy the entire book on the board and never actaully develop an exercise like the ones he comes up with in the final. I think he must be teaching there because he has influences or something. RUNNNNNNNNNNN AWAY FROM HIM!!!
exams are soooo hard..im a straight a student and i got a c in his class even after tryin my best...!!!!
Kick Ass
I personally have to say that Prof. Kone is a great teacher. He has helped me understand the concepts of Economics and made it clear. One thing I can say is that I had Prof Arroyo last semester and he was the worst for Econ. Compared to Arroyo.. PRof Kone is great! Whoever says he is not a good prof. should consider rephrasin their opinion..
Overall he explains things effectively. Yes exams are somewhat difficult but what he really lacks is responsiblity. The first exam he gave, took him almost a month to give the grades. Never returned homeworks. Does not stick to his plans. If he inproves in this 3 things, he would be one of the best professors. Last, he is much better than Arroyo
Is being fun studying with prof.Kone. I have really learn the importance of Demand and Supply. and how you can find when a price is perfectly elastic or ineslastic.
He is a good teacher, he helps every they way they want to. l learned lot about eco from him if you like to get good grades do as he says
He is the best teacher in the world! His test are easy and his lectures are great! Too bad he has a strong accent, otherwise he rules!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! WOOOO HOO!!!!!!
Don't keep distance from your students.
good job teacher.Thank you for your patience.
his test is easy, and he gives extra credits, go, sure you get good grade!
Good teacher.Maybe no good grade but you can learn sth.He is very well-prepared for class. Very enthusiastic and helpful. But his exam was too long. He is now easier than last semester. however, he teaches somewhat too slow because he want to make everyone understand. If you really want to learn something, take this professor, he can help you!
He is hard but he makes u think which is always a good thing. Takes too long to give back everything....i mean from tests to homeworks. But overall i deeply admire his Brilliance. He knows so much and continues to inspire many students by his Collected and well-thought out lessons. We Appreciate you!
A very nice professor, understand students' difficulties. He makes class very clear. Students improve their interest on economic.
Prof. Kone is a great professor and he tries his best to help the students to get a good grade and to understand the class. He sometimes could be a little confusing when he talks about extra credits, but overall he is a good professor and tries his best to help the student understand the functions of economics in a brief and clear way, I have fun!!
i took his class and got A grade but i learned nothing
If you ever understood anything in economics do not take this professor, because it is garaunteed that once you take his class you won't know anything about economics again. He is a HORRIBLE professor. He is very condesending. Always insults his students, hardly speaks a lick of english. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
C'mon, Economics just isn't easy. You gotta study. And his class were very good. Good teacher
Professor Kone is a very nice professor. The group work was helpful. The class was so interesting......
Best professor at LaGuardia. For those who complain, here is my advice: wait till you transfer to a senior college, then you will see the real life. For example, at Baruch every class is as hard or even harder as this one so you guys don't complain. After all, LaGuardia is the easiest school on earth.

Man, this guy's ancient is so thick and he is not very helpful, but he isn't the worst teacher in the world
I don't understand how some students took that class 3 times and still didn't manage to get a good grade. Here is my advice:wait till you transfer to a senior college (for example Baruch)and if you took that class with Kone and think it was impossible to do well, don't even bother transferring to Baruch.
One of the worse professors ever. I took his class did the homework and still got a C+, I even did the exam correction for the extra points. His accent is very thick and is very good at CONFUSING his students. I do not recommend taking him.
Great professor ,clearly explains theory, just listen to his instructions and come to class.
he doesn't teach anything and asks you to discuss something that you haven't learned yet. after the group discussion, he won't tell you what is the right answer. you don't need to do the homework at home, even you did it at home, you will do the same thing in the next lesson. Don't take his class if you expect to learn something from a professor.
his lectures r quite confusing, passing his class was quite difficult, but he is very lenient when it comes to the test, so my recommendation is to study because its not the professor thats hard its the class itself. i would recommend him for this class
He's patient enough to assist students one by one. Above all, His lecture is very helpful to understand about Economics . Thumb's up!!!!!
great
If you want to apply math to economics, Dr. Kone is your guy. Honestly, Dr. Kone should not be teaching in a community college. He is great with finance and economics. Thumbs up !!!
Dr. Kone: "Don't worry, have fun and learn!!!". For extra credit, groups are asked to do a PowerPoint presentation on any microeconomics controversial issue--Always smiling--He is just the best!!!Thumbs up!!!
Great guy. Simplified the material dramatically given 6-week time limit. One drawback: lectures were excellent, but lack of time prevented him from answering questions as much as he should have. We had groups to draw on, but when NO one knows it's no help. Still, recommended! PS. AVOID Prof. Arroyo for SSE103/104. If you don't know why, ask around.
Dr.Kone is the best. Excellent teaching methods, clear explanation love economics!!!Dr. Kone please come and teach in Baruch.
hmm. i think he is ok. his mid-term is really hard. so, you should study and fully prepare for it. but, final is open book. so, you don't really have to. overall, he is ok. i understood economics a lot. thanks.
I do not like his teaching method. He divides the class into groups and expects us to learn from each other if we do not understand something. He is an alright professor, but needs to take a more hands on approach with his students since this class is a bit difficult.
Very lazy professor. He expects you to learn everything on your own. He divides his class into groups and expects that we should learn on our own. In his words,"If you have any questions, speak to the other groups if no one in your group knows the answer. I am your last resort. This is a very difficult class and needs a supportive student.
Prof. Kone is the best teacher ever. I wasn't interested in economics at all, but after his class I want to know what is going in business world. After-class conversations with him were very helpful, especially in critical thinking. I admire his deep knowledge in this field. He is just great!!! Thank you Prof. Kone
Nice professor, but the style of teaching can drive you banannas. You really have to read every chapter to understand what in the world he's teaching. He is great at grading, but the test are completed mixed up, and not the same from the text. Final is open book, but it is extremely difficult. Overall, great grader even if you tried your best.
He is really funny. You can talk to him like your friend. I was never bored because his class was fun. On the other hand, he is hard. He puts questions on the test that are given to students in the college where he goes to. (He is still a student). You need to study a lot! He said he don't want to fail nobody. My friend who got 20's on tests got D.
Worst professor ever at LaGuardia!!He doesn?t know how to teach!!!!He should take vacations and never come back. Very lazy professor, he expects students to know all the material that?s why he puts students into groups so you can solve the problems by yourself. The exams are completely different from what he covers in class. Exams: midterm very di
Exams: midterm very difficult, take home group exam even more difficult, I can?t wait to see the final which is cumulative? good luck with this one if you want to take his class?it?s a nightmare?
Not good at teaching, exams are very confusing.
Prof. Kone is very nice but his teaching style is not suitable for someone beginning macroeconomics. Too many chapters were covered in a short space of time with very little clear explanation. Very frustrating class. Exams questions were asked in a very different way to ones practiced in the lab.
He seems as an okay person, but as to his teaching method is horrible. I am not even reading the book either bc of how boring he makes the class. His exams I personally thought it was okay... just did the essay part of it. He really needs to be coached how to teach.
He is very nice as a person but unfortunately not so great as a professor. He really does know material himself, but has a difficulty to present it to the class in the clear form. His method of teaching is too high for the people who have no previous knowledge in the economics. It is possible to work out a good grade at the end, but don?t expect t
Horrible teacher! Doesn't explain anything clearly & when you ask him ANY question he'll either ignore you, answer you with a question or tell you to ask one of your classmates. We were told to get the most recent text which I spent an arm and a leg on and he ended up going by the OLD syllabus & OLD text. He's useless! Avoid him at all costs!
Come on guys! Stop whining! This is not high school! Kone is doing so much for students! He is an asset to LaGuardia! I transferred to Columbia University. I took his International Econ class. 99% of the time, he lectured without notes!! He is still my inspiration! My study group uses his economics website to keep up. Many thanks Dr. Kone!
well hes such a pain in the beganing of the class but jus hang in there and bare with his accent n his lectures..you will get good grades..thers no way you can fail if u just take all of his testss ...overall, hes a easy prof..
Dr Kone's tests are crazy hard, but he tells you the questions in classes and will tell you to expect it on the test. With a take home exam and an open book final, if you fail, it's your own fault. Do the work and you'll make it through with a good grade.
For Micro or Macro, u do not have a better choice. Even though his exams r crazy hard, he is a flexible grader. Just listen and stick with him through the end. U will get the grade. I got a B+ from him =)
I don't know how to say this, he is never helpful. If u ask anything, he either tells u to search google or to ask other friend, while nobody in class knows it.
I took this teacher for in economic class ,the class was so lame .If you can pick another teacher it will be better for you,and good luck.
he is one of the worst professor i have seen since high school. better, take another professor. he is very unhelpful.
Prof. Kone makes economics very easy to understand...always bridge theory and practice...intensive use of online activities...good luck! I really enjoyed the class and I learned a lot!
Terrible terrible terrible.... His grading policy is hard to understand and his tests are unbearable. Beware do not take his class.
Kone is a good professor and makes the class fun and exciting. He genuinely cares about his students and really wants us to understand economics. Very smart guy, teaches without a lesson plan! Ignore these negative comments, take him if you can!
Prof Kone is a great professor, humorous and nice. In economic department you don't have good choices, So, Dr. Kone is comparatively awesome. He knows his stuff, makes the class interesting. He tries to give you a better grade, extra credit exists. Sometimes he might let you google it or ask your classmates, but tests are easy.I got A-.
He is a good professor! Those who aim to gain from this class take A but those who want to take A without studying And in the same time blame professor are unreasonable!O.M.
Kone is good. People who said he is a killer just because they don't put effort in this class. His lectures are not in a formal style as other professors did. He encourage self- studying and figure out problems by trying by yourself first. 2 exams and 1 take home project+ one presentation. That's it. Ace those four and you can get A.
i think he's a good professor, but he's not an easy grader. i took him in spring II and there's a lot of materials to cover and it was kind of hard for me, and his tests was quite hard as well because i cant do a lot of memorizing, but overall he's nice! if you blame him because of your grade, it's just you want easy A without putting effort.
He is very very confusing about the subject of the class. During his class time it is impossible to ask him a question. If you have never taken economics course, this course is not good for you. He usually spends first 30 mins of the class drawing graphs and rush through the class. Good luck if you are taking his class.
easy class and i would highly recommend taking international econ to fulfill flexible core requirement
he is good but his tests is hard
This man knows his economics. He assigns a lot of group work, but if you are with the right group (which, luckily, I was) then it will be a breeze. His lectures can sometimes get long winded but they are pretty clear. International Econ is a pretty interesting class, and you will learn a lot. If you do not like to write, his tests are not for you.
Very knowledgable in the subject but isn't the best professor because of the students. He has no patience because many students will ask him the same question repeatedly when he had previously just answered it. A professor should be more patient because that is the job criteria. Everyone is at different education levels so he should be understandin
He's very educated in economics and is good at expalining what needs to be taught and teaches you everything you need on the test. The only problem is that he isn't very patient when it comes to people asking quetions so he will tel you to ask your group members that he assigns in the first day for questions even thoiugh half the time they dontknow
Very nice professor and not too hard to pass. You'll have three exams, one in class, one a take-home group exam, and the final is open book. So, you have all the options to pass. You have to study in order to understand the class, but it isn't too difficult. Participation is important. Do the homework, even though isnt mandatory it will help you
Great Professor very helpful he is willing to help you if you help yourself. I recommend taking him. Not very clear at times, but that would not make you fail or get a low grade. Very humble and means well .. I love him if I had given more time to studying it was very easy to get a A. He wants the best for his students very responsive to email
Hes a horrible professor. He does not review. he give you a ton of work to do like it was an honors class. he's unorganized . I would strongly stay away from this professor if possible. He is the worst i have ever had, and I'm a pretty good student.
Kone knows his stuff very well. Taking this class, be prepared to work your behind off! Kone is no joke and he treats his honors and regular classes quite the same. Gives extra credit and isnt such a tough grader. He wants the class to help each other so you will work in groups for Kone classes. Group take home exam and open book final, saved me!
I would not take Professor Kone again, the reason being is that in every chapter he flies through it regardless if you understand or not. Attendance is a must because if you miss a day most likely you're missing a chapter. He gets annoyed whenever you ask a question. A mix of midterm and the group take home text will be your final exam.
Seems like he's probably a great researcher, but is less interested in the teaching aspect of his job. No biggie though. He's very kind and pretty funny as well. Buy the textbook; the final and midterms (the only tests he gives) are open-book. You get to select which questions you want; do the math ones. He grades harder on the written ones.
There are 3 tests, 1 group take home and open book final. The other midterm is done in class. I mean if you just want an A then you can get it, if you want to learn you will still learn but not a lot. There is a lot of unclear and rush. Overall easy to get a high grade.
He grades really well. He doesn't like to take points when you make a small mistake, but his exam questions are really difficult then what he teaches in class. You really have to take notes while he is giving a lecture or you have to practice hard questions from online or from the book.
Yall know Math is hard for like 90% of yall Please do not take him hes not very enthusiastic, He ignored me most of the time and the other students were so confused and no one spoke so he didnt like me because i spoke when i didnt understand, but he does rush through things so dont be late, but if you show him your intrested your good
I was a science major. Took first Econ class as elective with him. RECOMMENDED Professor.
Awesome, & really funny, but you have to pay attention. He comes across very serious and he is but he can be funny when explaining concepts. I am horrible at Math but this wasn't too much of a math heavy course, he let's you do essays in place of math questions but they eat up all your test time. Study the math; it will be better & faster on tests
Truly a gem! I took him for micro and macro, and it was a great experience. You'll learn a lot from him, and his exams are way too easy if you have taken any middle-school algebra class. Furthermore, his exams are exactly alike to his reviews.
He Is one of the best professors at Laguardia. if you truly want to learn take his course. Read the chapters prior to class, do the quiz/hw (a few easy questions). When he goes through the chapter in class everything will makes sense. He also encourages classmates working together to find solutions to problems.
All I will say is if you are great at algebra definitely take his class. Otherwise.... I wouldn't unless you are into working very hard and writing 2 pages worth of his test essay questions. He does care about his students . Also if you are not a fan of group work don't take his class
He doesn't know how to teach SSE104 in short section, everything is going too fast (he taught 4 chapters in one day, just before the final exam), and he assigned lots of homework. He is fine, but not recommended.
Avoid! He cannot teach for nothing! Horrible!
Professor Kone teaching criteria at first seems confusing, but if you stay focused, you will understand the main idea. He is genius, I learned a lot about Economics from his class. He is not a tough grader.
WELL HIs grading is so confusing, for kingbird to give extra credit but please if you want to get a decent grade just dont take him, the way he teach will confuse you
He doesnt know how to teach a short semester. His exams and class are intense. His exam reviews are all over the place which makes it more confusing when studying. The materials are so heavy to study you dont know where to start. He claims there is no tricks on the exam its a lie ! You cant even cheat even if you wanted to! Run for your life
Wow he produces best quality of work but a bit confusing, the thing is that if u stay focused u will just be great.
He is a very smart professor, but there is a lot t learn so make sure to ask questions and do your part when reading ahead. Tests can be difficult and he will be lenient on how he grades you, but this doesn't mean he's easy. If he sees you trying he can be reasonable. Also, make sure to choose a good group!!!
Mots likely the group work but also the lecture is heavy as the class is too late so you can know that he only select the late class hour as you will be put to sleep. Only take the class if you will give up hour of sleep . don't take these class if you take the class last for gradation with five class altogether
you have to study very hard to get a good result, the exam is very difficult and some of the questions might be never learn before.
Took this during the short session. You basically work with your groups most of the class time.
The class I took was hybrid. No any lecture I got from him. No any recorded video from him. No any article made by him. He put Khan Academy videos and asked us to study from there. Why I paid LAGCC for this class. I could watch Khan Academy videos for free. And yet during grade asked from students too much.
I was the one who submitted assignments long before the deadline. He said to practice in Khan Academy, it is free and I didn't come to college for that. Our class was supposed to be hybrid, but we didn't have single live lecture. When I asked him anything he told to ask classmates. And after all of this he is tough grader and doesn't allow to res
Please make it more easier and help ur students as much as possible .U r giving us additional stress.
RUN--If you are reading this and have just signed up for his class I advise you to drop out right now. The class is made uneccesarily difficult and there is no clear grading criteria. No synchronous lectures and assigns Khan Academy videos and work that don't match the textbook assignments. Doesn't know how to teach doesn't care about his students.
I was kind of nervous after going through the rate my professor review. But I trust myself, took this class from him. In fact, he is NOT at all strict grader. He grades pretty fair enough. He even directed you to read specific page numbers for specific answers to question. He replied to your mail promptly. He is an asset to our college. Be ready
Made an asynchronous class unnecessarily difficult. You watch endless Khan Academy videos, doesn't explain anything & you pay the price. Uses 4 different sites for one class and you're supposed to just get the hang of it. Save yourself the trouble and choose another prof or take a synchronous class. Couldn't recommend this class less.
I had Professor Kone for the honors section. Professor Kone gets an unfair wrap on this website. Is he challenging? Yes. This is not an easy A class. This is college, be prepared to absorb what he covers in lecture and supplement it with reading on your own time. This class will develop your critical thinking.
By the end of the semester, I started losing my passion towards this class. Not matter how hard I did my homeworks, he would never gave a good grades. Why would he being such a tough grader when he even taught nothing? What do you expect from your students when you just let them watch Khans Academy for the entire semester?
do not take this class
a lot of homework endless videos on khan academy, the worst class ever
he is a hard grader. most of the class content comes from Khan Academy videos instead of prerecorded lectures from the professor. even when you put in a lot of effort its nearly impossible to get a 100. be prepared to teach yourself most of the material
Very disorganized as a professor. Ask you to watch a lot of videos without explanation. Expect student to know everything while barely teach anything and keep saying lectures are important. There is no grade updated throughout the courses,(except midterm paper grade) until i got my final grade and not satisfied with it.
Im taking him as a second session class async and avoid him if you can. workload is ridiculous and the khan academy videos are so extra and pointless on top of that. grading is pretty rough and very picky. i should've dropped the class the moment i saw the introduction email...
drop the class now
Absolutely terrible. Lectures are disorganized, tests have nothing to do with what's taught, and they seem annoyed when students ask questions. Zero help, zero clarity, and zero respect. Avoid this class if you value your GPA and sanity. PS. He's gonna put you into groups for a whole semester and you're required to stay in that group until the end.
The reviews here are true. You get put into groups. He's very annoyed and expects respect from students like we owe him or something. Respect is earned, not given. Horrible professor, easily annoyed by any students asking him questions, thinks he's all right and mighty and pretends like he cares. Just do yourself the favor and drop this class.
He didn't know how to teach like he made us go to each other to find the answer
You actually will not learn anything from this class. Most students ended up having to self teach
Teaches in an interesting way that I could not personally learn from. You are required to participate in groups, relying on each other and other classmates to learn. Although it is difficult to learn, if you put in the time and effort, it actually isn't that difficult to pass with flying colors. Apply yourself outside of class and you'll be A OK.
