He is just the best. Words can describe his abilities. You get wat you paid for. His class comes with few minutes of comedy. Go Namala!!. this is a seed you sowed here in san jose state university. Peace out
He's a poor excuse for a professor. Too cocky and has boring, repetitive stories. Has very difficult approach to an easy concept. Avoid!!!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Actually made Economics class at 8 AM in the morning somewhat fun
Tells a lot about the person who gave a negative rate to soloman (must be an idiot & bitter person) he’s an awesome prof & person. He holds off hours tutoring & does his best to help you. You earn your grade & he’s fair. Bottom-line, he’s “good-people”
Make your schedule so you can go to the tutorials and you will pass the class easily
funny guy who loves to curse but my fav. indian ..well the only one
Very Funny, but challenging at the same time...lots of helpful materials......going to take 202 with him again....Fun lecture...Do all the work and you'll be fine..the test is kinda tough and he's a good teacher overall.

GREATEST TEACHER EVER! Must study if you want to get an A or B
Very nice, funny teacher, makes class interesting. Wasn't really hard, I got a B and I'm usually not very good in this subject!
He's a poor excuse for a professor. Too **** and has boring, repetitive stories. Has very difficult approach to an easy concept. His class comes with few minutes of comedy. Comedy was not worth grade!! Avoid!!!
I took Mr. Namala for Econ 201 and 202. He is an excellent teacher with a great sense of humor. His tests require that you understand the subject, rather than memorizing it. Both classes were a bit challenging, but I really enjoyed them, and I am not one who likes economics.
THIS GUY NEEDS TO HELP HIS STUDENTS MORE HE IS A POOR EXCUSE FOR A TECHER!!
EXCEPTIONAL TEACHER
very very strict.. u should knw ur stuff or else ur gona suffer.. read and dont take things for granted.. be responsible
Great teacher: very friendly and accomodating, but tests are complex--- I think it's the wording that throws everyone off. If you know your stuff, you'll do fine. If not, you'll get a C like me.
Truth: Go to the tutorials. His *multiple* choice tests are based on english and logic skills. Yes, you need to learn test taking skills. Those are very important. Yes, i taken his class, i taken lots of classes. His class was most wonderful. I do not like this bad mouthing of his character.
This is honestly one of the most inspiring teacher's that engages his students with education and laughter. If your a descent student at all, you'll learn that he is an example of someone who is more then textual information. Btw he takes the whole class out to BJ.. and he buys beers for everyone.. The best teacher
Solomon is not only an excellent proffesor, but he is incredibly inciteful with world issues concerning Economics. You will learn more than how to apply economics to the American Economy, but how it effects the world, and what effects it has on globl relationships. Definitely one of the most impressive instructors in my academic career.
Great teacher! He so passionate about economics and world affairs that he made me fall in love with the subject. I am now a bussiness economics major!

Take Keenan or Lo instead, he's a pain when it comes to tests.
We're in COLLEGE not in HIGH SCHOOL
I took both classes with him, he had a lot of homework and He was the only choice I have since I work in the morning and this was an requirement for my major. Avoid him, hard tests, numerous homeworks and he demands a project.

He is a funny professor and also he definitly helps you out,
Excellent!! If you're looking to memorize, it's not the class for you. But if you want to actually learn the concepts and maybe challenge your worldview, it's the perfect class!

For those who couldn't hack in in this class, you need to GO TO SCHOOL more. Mr. Namala's class was challenging, but not hard. Just go to his tutorials. Free answers to the homework! Great study tool for the tests! I wish I could've taken more classes with him before transferring out. One of the top instructors at Cerritos.
Very Nice Teacher! Funny, but Confusing. His work is fairly easy, but if you get lost or confused on one part of it, he doesn't stop to help you out. Instead he sends you to tutoring. I would rather learn from 'my teahcer'. He is very good at working
he made me move alot since i have a gf and he kept picking on me cuz im indian. he coool and cusses. he is a ok teacher. fun but hard.
Trust me when I tell you that his class is hard. Don't take me wrong, he is a great instructor, but instead of being more helpful in class he sends you for tutoring. There is no way u can do the hw without going to tutoring where he has other students who don't really know the material helping you and instead of helping you they confuse you even mo
Solomon is a good teacher, who's material can be quite challenging at times, but his tutorial will save your ass! Attending the tutorial everytime will definately ensure you an A. Sometimes, he will pick on someone, but it is done with humor. If you can't take it, go back to Kindergarten! He won't pick on you only because you're Indian, either.
He's one of those teachers that gets you interested. Material is fairly basic but the test & quizzes are not. Tutorials for homework definitely puts you in good standing for a B or A. If you are interested in somewhat challenging yourself and getting a sense of accomplishment than take the class. If you want the easy way out take Keenan's class
Namala is great, I love him. His class is one of the funnest college courses and you learn so much. Tutorial is a great help to, if you go that's an automatic A!
Great teacher,Very witty, he is hard though, if you dont go to his tutorials you will not pass! Makes his class very intresting. dont take if you plan on not dedicating some time to his class.
Great teachear and funny as hell. His hw(s) isnt that hard if you pay attention in class. Tests are a bit challenge but if you know CONCEPTS, it is easy to get a good grade. good job my man!!
Show up for class, do all the work, go to the tutorials (they DO help), and at least make some effort. If you do the aforementioned things, you shouldn't end up any lower than a B. If you want an "A," you need to have a good sense of what's being taught in the class (interpretation of concepts). Namala has an accent, but it's not heavy at all.
THE SUBJECT IS DIFFICULT BUT HE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR.
Awesome teacher; good knowledge; and extremely smart. His guidance and counseling prepared me for economics classes when I transferred to a four year university. I really believe without his class I wouldn't have a foundation of economics. I strongly recommend him if you want to learn and advance to a bachelors degree or higher.
Omg he is one of the best teachers at CC...you will learn alot!! he makes his class fun, very approachable, go to the tuttoring and do all the hw and x-tra credit and you are guaranteed a B...take Namala he is cool!!! best professor at CC
Dunno why Prof. Namala doesn't have a 5 rating, but his thoroughly understandable teaching style helped me to completely understand the econ concepts that I normally despised. Great teacher--wish he taught more subjects =). Quite a joker too =).
Great prof!!!! Dr Namala --it's "Dr", not 'Mr"; he's got a PhD-- teaches econ really well, as well as Timothy Taylor of the Great Courses video lecture series. Really funny; we were discussing importing, he asked if we imported anything, I said Cipro from India, and he said "Well, if there's ever an anthrax attack, we all go to Doug's house!" A++++
I took him for both 201 and 202 in the same semester and he absolutely the best teacher i have ever had. He's extremely funny and crystal clear on the material. People say he is hard, but i got A's in both and went into the final with over a 100%. If you do all the extra credit he gives, which can be simple as printing a paper, ur assured of a B
very funnny guy, i had him for econ 101 and 201. he knows his stuff pretty well. he constantly makes fun of students but its all cool because we know he is joking like a couple of times he made fun of me cux he taught i owned tams burger . his 101 was easy but had a hard time in the last section of macro, ended up getting a B great profeesor
I found the class hard. I should have studied more and made friends to help me during the labs for quizzes, homework, and take-home exams. I should have read my notes over and over. I read both books when assigned. Interesting class, especially with him and his slant. He's funny and really out there while a complete genius.
i thought the class was really hard. most assignments are due 5 points or less test are really hard you must read the texbook alot he assigns 2 books and 1 workbook you must study alot to pass this class and if you are like a point away from a grade he will not give it to you. other than that he a funny teacher
very good teacher after school tutoring sessions are highly recommended very awesome teacher
He is a great teacher, a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. He knows his subject really well and does the best to explain it to his students. He also gives extra credits which are worse only 5 points, but he gives them constantly. so it definitley helps to raise your grade!!!!!!!:))))
good teacher, criticized american capitalism and proved excellent points, very good econ teacher
funniest professor! helpful
Hes cool. Interesting. His exams are difficult so you must be totally committed to reading and attending lab. Could be more helpful at times and does tend to lose his temper and become unbearable but usually hes coo. Recommend if you really want to learn econ and are ready to put in effort
Namala is a really funny guy. He's kind of hard to understand at first because of his accent but once you get used to it, it's all good. The class was a little difficult and he assigns a lot of homework. I definitely recommend doing as much of the extra credit as possible to help your grade.
Professor Namala is an amazing human being, and that's why he is an excellent teacher. Be prepared, read the txt before come to class (helps as a reference) ask questions, and don't be intimidating for his ranking of easiness, we could make the class hard if we don't study!!!
seriously fun teacher, he makes learning about econmics funny. sometimes there were some boring sections but the only thing hard about this class are the tests lucky there are only 3 but if you do all the other work he assigns and the extra credit you'll pass no problem at all.
Read the textbook ,seriously. Although he is fun and good teacher the material is hard. The tests are not easy, so pay close attention, ask and he would help you. Even if you take other teachers on this subject the material is the same so study!!!!!!!!
Professor Namala by far is the best teacher i have taken at cerritos college. He makes the subject interesting and so much fun.One thing is that his lectures are easy but once it comes to the test you need to know the subject. His test are extremely complex. Make sure you read and do all the extra credit that will help a lot.
AWESOME professor! The funniest professor on campus! TAKE him! Pay attention and participate in class. Class is fun but the tests are hard(especially the take home) so you need to know the subject. The tests check your ability to understand. Ask questions and keep bugging him! Hes helpful too!
He is by far one of the greatest professors. He makes a dull subject fun. I always look forward to attending his class. The material can be hard but he does his best to explain. I strongly recommend him.
I took macro and micro with Dr. Namala, he is the best. Take good notes in class, read your book, and do all the extra credit. He makes the class interesting and is always willing to help. My recommendation is to go to the lab instead of online. Take Namala he is a great teacher.
Great teacher.
He makes the class fun and interesting. There are not many boring moments in his class, and this helps stay on task. Definitely recommend, as long as you do your work and follow his reviews you'll do well.
I took macro with Mr. Namala and I didn't like his class at all. One thing that bugged me was his jokes. They were very inappropriate for class. He also cursed pretty loosely and I thought that he needed to be more professional. Tests are HARD! I passed with a C. If you do take his class get into study groups.
Namala is the dopest professor ever. He's helpful but you need to pay attention to lectures a lot. He's always free in his office hours eating curry and waiting to help you!
Here's the DEAL. Namalas class is hardly boring, and you actually learn. This prof is hilarious and smart. He should be teaching at UCB or UCLA, not at a community college.
Pros: Hilarious, engaging, kind, caring, sweet, passionate, intelligent, and overall kick ass. He makes a boring subject fun. Cons: His jokes bother some sensitive students, you have to read the book, you need to study for tests. CONCLUSION: cool guy, funny, you need to study (its Econ after all, not Math 5)
I took 201 & 202 with him. He is super chill and fun! But, his class is not easy and the exam questions are tricky. No much homework to do but quiz every week. So you have to read the textbook in order to pass his class. He doesn’t offer extra credit that much, so try to complete all the in class exercises. Overall, good class and prof. Take Him!!
It is true that the tests are tough and tricky but it doesn't matter because test is only 13 of the entire grade. If you show paricipating and attend every class, it's easy to pass EVEN IF YOU FAIL THE TEST. If you don't fail, there's really high chance to get an A.
DO NOT take Honors Econ with him. Solomon is a nice guy but he is very absent minded and will, at one point, assign over 12 hours of homework due over a whole weekend. Exams are not even close to the textlectures; and the textbook is less than helpful and not to mention expensive. This measly 3 unit course is not worth the insane amount of work.
Difficult tests--questions from a test bank so you have to study and understand the big picture besides just showing up. But the extra in-class assignments, extra-credit, and homework make up for it, and Namala is really helpful in class. Only problem is his workload seems too heavy, so it takes a long time to know where you stand in the class.
Amazing professor! Always very helpful and not once does he mind helping out. In his own words: I'm a public servant, my job is to help you, don't feel bad coming to me for help. All that said, yes he offers extra credit, yes his class work and assignments are easy, but beware!! Exams are NOT easy at all.
Namala is such a great professor. He maes his lectures easier & they go faster than expected. he's very funny & If he sees you strugggling he'll help you.
Great professor. I would highly recommend him, he is amazing and is very caring. Gives extra credit and theres homework! He was very nice and I wish everyone had the chance to take him! He is hilarious! You'll learn a lot! Even if you fail a test you still have a high chance of getting an A.
Mr. Namala He is a good teacher. Funny, Caring, etc. If you are ever struggling he will gladly give you tutoring after class which i STRONGLY recommend. Unfortunately when it comes to lectures he isn't the most clear which makes this class more difficult then it should be. However between extra credit and tutoring it is not impossible. Good Man.
I've taken him for 2 semesters and he is very cool. He is hilarious but some people find his jokes heavy. At the end of the semester we had to write an essay, which was a bit hard, but he offered help all the time. A lot of extra credit.
A truly honest and hard working professor who takes every student into consideration. Although some lectures might be heavier than others, he is kind and always cracking jokes about his students to keep them interested. He also give lots of assignments extra credit so if your on top of everything and do your part you'll be good.
How do I begin to describe Dr. Namala. he's one funny dude. His sense of humor is great. Gives out lots of extra credit and is more than willing to help during office hours. TAKE NOTES DURING LECTURE. He will clearly emphasize what you need to know for tests so do yourself a favor and WRITE IT DOWN.
Good professor and good person. Cares for students but won't hesitate to call you out if you mess around. Expect to hear him praise Michael Moore, as with many other professors at community college. Hard exams, hard essays, fun debate. Took him for two semesters at honors level and earned an A. Wouldn't have had it any other way, best prof. here.
Professor Namala is a great professor. He's hilarious. The test are extremely difficult so it's important that you do all your homework and in class/group assignments. He also gives out a lot of extra credit.
Prof. Namala is extremely funny and laid back, his syllabus makes the grading structure clear from the 1st day. However, the exams are tough considering the lectures he gives and the homework he assigns in-class is random, often forgettable if you don't write it down. Lots of in-class assignments, but is forgiving about late assignments usually.
Professor Namala was great. This is not an easy class, but I expected that. Lots of work to do in class, but little to no homework. A huge plus was that he explains everything very well, and is willing to make sure you completely get it. Not bothered by questions at all. I had to work for my A, but I would definitely take his class again if needed.
Great professor overall. Definitely knows what he's doing. Namala is quite an interesting professor, and make sure you go to office hours if you don't get anything! Microeconomics is a hard concept to understand, but he makes it easier to understand.
Good Professor, he explained very clearly for every chapter. I took a remote class and most of the work I had is the class work, and his grading on it is really picky honestly. But fortunately he offer a lot of extra credit assignment. I think what you have to do to become successful in his class is to finish all the class work and extra credit.
Professor Namala is very knowledgeable about Econ, but he breaks things down very well. He has an in class tutor, and offers tutoring 4 times a week. He is funny and knows how to liven up lectures when they start to get a bit long winded. As long as you do the HW and classwork, you'll get at least a B. He also offers extra credit, so that helps too
Caring, smart, and hilarious.
Solomon Namala is actually a pretty good professor when teaching Econ. I really loved how he records all lectures and his lectures were pretty clear and straight to the point. My struggles would be that he hands out lots of classwork meaning u have to be there in class to do it and exams are worth a whole letter so make sure to study and takenotes!
Took his 6-week 202M course and 9-week 201M course, both online. Have to buy Achieve access for lab. There is in-class group work. Exams/quizzes are done through a lockdown browser. Overall an easy/manageable course if you stay on top of your work. If you're looking to do lower-division economics in a short period of time, Namala is a great choice!
Professor really cares about the students and does his best to help us learn. Just follow what the professor tells you to do.His grading is very reasonable and his lectures are passionate. It is really good and easy to get credit and if there is something you don't understand he will tell you again and again.
Namala is a professor that will make you love the subject of Econ. I took him two semesters (micro and macro) for He's funny and caring. His class is not hard if you pay attention and study a bit. If you take him for honors, its basically a class debate and a 10 page paper (not as bad as it sounds). He does offer extra credit which helps.TAKE HIM!
Professor Solomon is the best professor to have. The dude loves to crack jokes and was well-respected by my peers. He is accessible outside of class through zoom or in person and is willing to help out anyone. I would take advantage if that if you don't clearly understand something.
He is honestly the best professor i have had so far at Cerritos college. I feel like professors should notes from him on how to be a great professor and not bore your students. Attend his lectures because they are very important if you want to succeed in this class.
Great professor would definitely take again.
Honestly, he has been the best professor I have ever taken. He is a really sweet person, very patient, and kind. He explains everything very thoroughly and gives you more than enough resources to pass. I will say his tests are a bit difficult but honestly, he gives more than enough extra credit and homework to help your grade.
I took him for two semesters, and it was a pleasure being in his class! You can tell he really cares about his students and wants them to succeed not only in his class but in general. Not to mention such an easy going and funny professor that makes learning about a difficult subject fun to learn about. Honestly, the best professor I've ever had.
You won't go wrong with taking Namala
Great way to learn macroeconomics makes the lessons clear and doesn't test you outside of what he teaches you in class. Attendance is key and he is there to help so ask questions!! Highly recommend! 100% would take again.
Took this class during summer so class was early in the morning. He does great lectures and provides plenty of way to succeed in the class. He is a tough grader and his exams can be difficult if you do not review. overall a great professor who can be a tough grader but I feel like that prepares you for Uni professors!
I enjoyed his lectures but his quizzes/exams were tricking and you aren't able to look at what you did wrong unless you go to his office hours. I attended his office hours once and he even made a little mistake on a quiz. Review the book and lecture notes as much as you can (I wish I did). You should do fine if you do all the given class/homework.
Professor Namala was a great instructor; he cares about his students and expects the best out of them. This class is not test-heavy; I think we had three tests. It is important to take advantage of extra credit opportunities and to complete all of your MacMillian learning. Overall, try your best, and you will do well.
One of the best professors at Cerritos
Namala is a great professor! Thomas was the best tutor I had! Professor gives you all the resources to pass and he's willing to help you with anything. He makes dirty jokes so be prepared. His sense of humor makes his class a joy. His office hours are fun to attend. Take good notes and don't be afraid to ask for help.
Prof. Solomon has been one of the best pro
Professor Namala is a great person to learn economics, I have taken him for both micro and macro and he has made the subject easy to understand, just show up to class, pay attention, and do the homework to pass the class, he also offers ectra credit here and there.
Professor Namala was honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. His classes weren't just about learning facts or equation he made sure we actually understood how everything worked in real life. He would use examples we could relate to, and he always made sure we had time to ask questions and talk about what we thought.
Professor Namala makes macro engaging with his passionate lectures. The exams are challenging, but his guidance and resources like unstuck AI help a lot. Attend class, review the textbook, and you'll do well - I'd take his course again.
Professor Namala is straightforward. I took this class in the summer, and as long as you do the work and show up, you'll pass. The class was easy overall, though the comprehensive final wasn't what I expected. We were allowed a cheat sheet, but some questions felt outside what we focused on.
