I LOVE HER! Sonali is nice, down to earth, very knowledgeable, and EXTREMELY helpful! Trust me I bugged her all semester and she never once seemed to be irritated by my constant questions. By the way she teaches, you can tell that she loves her job.
Sonali was probably the best teacher i have ever had! she is so intelligent and really knows how to instill her knowledge in the minds of her students! it is clear that she loves teaching with her smile everyday!
Dr. Raje was really nice. The class wasn't that bad at all. I didn't know anything starting out. Sometimes she is hard to understand in lecture. I took really good notes and I read the book ALOT! I ended up with an A. She also posts old tests online which help alot. She is funny too. Take her!
Sometimes she is very hard to understand, but she is very sweet. Labs and the term paper really help your grade. Tests are difficult, but manageable. Be prepared to teach yourself from the book.
Intelligent and helpful professor. Sometimes she is hard to understand and can be confusing, but she is really nice and funny. she needs to improve with keeping your attention. Tests n quizzes are difficult. I took great notes and read the book and got an A-. I felt that I deserved an A. She posts old tests online which help a lot. Easy B.
You MUST use the old exams she posts up on blackboard as your study guide. She likes to recycle questions on each test. Quizzes are timed (15 min). Lectures are usually really dull, her voice makes you wanna go to sleep sometimes. Otherwise, Raje is a really nice teacher, always there to help you when needed.
very helpful- is ready to help whenever you need. you must attend every class to do well-posts old exams online which are a good study guide. Relies a lot on the book but she is fun and approachable.
Omgsh, Sonali is the best. Her lectures can be a bit boring but she's probably the best chem 105 teacher. Really helpful, and kind. She's really fun in lab too. DEF TAKE HER
Class is pretty easy, but you will end up teahing yourself from the book. Hard to understand sometimes. Rushed through some of the material. If you can find a better professor definetly take them if not settle for her.
She is awesome! The notes in lecture are exactly like the test. Attendance is not mandatory but it is definitely helpful to go to class. She gives quizzes after every chapter which help you understand the material and prepare you for the test. All the tests and quizzes from previous classes are posted online and are soo helpful to study from.
She has a really thick accent that's difficult to understand. A lot of quizzes, tests are basically the sum of quizzes. Used the book alot, studied pretty hard to pull a B. She is willing to help and explains alot in class. Lots of math in this class, but if you work hard, not a bad class
Absolutely the best ever!!! I didn't like Chemistry much to begin with but I learned a LOT from this class. It is easy if you work and she makes you work and learn the material but it is absolutely worth it. You feel accomplished once you go through her class.
She's a good teacher. She explains things in class until you understand them and is willing to help outside of class. Drops the lowest quiz grade and tests and quizzes are entirely from notes. Posts old exams on BB. Curves the class before it starts and gives extra credit.
RAJE IS THE BEST! I loved having her as a lab teacher and wish I would have taken her for lecture. She explains things great, is always willing to help, and really knows what she is talking about. She's always in a happy and good mood and answers/helps with anything to make it clear.
With the craziness that TU had for the chem department this year, she was the only professor where students actually learned. I had her for lecture, but I definitely wish that I had taken her for lab as well. Wonderful professor that desires for her students to pass. She's a harder grader, but fair.
Absolutely love Raje, she's the most helpful and sweetest person. She taught me everything in lab that my lecture professor never taught me- if it wasn't for her, I would have done way worse. Will always take the time to explain things until you understand them.
She was the least helpful professor. Yes she drops lowest test and quiz but she refused to help me when I went to her office hours because she "went over that in class". Only explained basic concepts and expected in depth understanding on test. If you try really hard you'll pass but I would take another professor. I hear she's great for lab though
Attendance isn't mandatory but go every day. She is so straightforward. I never use the book and I've been getting A's and B's on everything. I hate chemistry and it never made much since to me but you'll do fine in her class.
I love Raje. I had her for lecture and she was truly the sweetest teacher and I would highly recommend taking her. If you're not doing well then just talk to her, she will get help for you.
She is a very nice lady, and she strives to do her best. But the clarity is there. Her test seem more thorough than the notes given.
She makes the course seem so simple but then her tests are impossible. She has a quiz every two weeks and they are like exams - impossible. She has a heavy accent but speaks good english. She can be condescending. Study really hard and you'll be ok.
I don't like Chemistry to begin with and I still don't like it but I learned a LOT in her class. You need to take really good notes but she writes everything on the board. She has an accent but speaks fluent English. She makes hard exams though- you won't see anything on the test that is not covered in class but that doesn't make it any better.
Is no help, goes too fast during lectures.
She gave us access to the Connect homework when we finished the chapters. Posts old exams with grading rubrics- very helpful while studying for tests. Insists that you to know your math fundamentals. Has high standards and expectations from students. She was very motivational and helpful when I approached her in office hours outside of class.
I loved Dr. Raje!! She was great! This class is not an easy A, but if you work hard and study, your going to be fine. She is a great professor, and the tests reflect exactly what is taught in lecture. Do yourself a favor and please take her.
I loved Professor Raje! She took the time to get to know all of her students and really cared about the success of them individually. She was so sweet and taught the information well. If you ever have the opportunity to take a class with her, dont miss it because she's great! We had 1 test a month and a quiz every 2 weeks.
Literally the best teacher ever.
LOVED her. I studied a good amount for this class and did well. Her quizzes and exams are pretty easy, as long as you look over the notes and keep on your homework you'll be fine.
Great professor, hard lectures. Go to class, take notes, DO your online HW assignments. If you don't understand, GO to her! I really thought I wasn't going to pass with a C and I barely made it with a 70%. Drops the lowest quiz score.
She is very knowledgeable in her field and explains concepts very specifically and she is so nice!
This is a younger version of Professor McGonagall of the muggle world. Cannot find a better way to describe the professor or what you can expect from her.
First few weeks of class were great. Very knowledgeable. Going to her office hours was a terrible idea. Didn't help at all and talked to me like I was an idiot. I went many times and was always rushed even though we had scheduled the meeting prior. To those who do take her, I recommend double checking her grading. Wouldn't take again or recommend.
While this class is a LOT of work, I especially liked the fact that there was nothing on the exams which we had not learned. Can't afford to skip class though because everything is tested. Still the lowest two are dropped so didn't matter much. Can treat you like an idiot if you miss class and make dumb excuses- seen it personally and -NOT pretty.
DO NOT TAKE CHEM 131 FROM HER I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!! She is not helpful at all, I went to her office hours she made me feel bad for not knowing and skipped out steps when explaining to me how to complete the problems. Her english is fine until she starts talking fast and then you will have no clue what she is saying. I now have to withdraw
Professor Raje is the best for 131 at Towson, hands down. This is my third time taking the course, so far I'm thriving. I got As on first two exams while my friends in other classes got Cs and Fs. Raje has a lot of content on blackboard and is always willing to meet outside of class. She couldn't set you up to pass any better. I wish she taught 132
nice, funny, and generally a good professor. She teaches you what you need to know, and does so efficiently.
I absolutely loved Professor Raje this semester. Shes friendly and approachable and explains concepts clearly. She provides further explanations when asked and lots of study materials, Blackboard content, and worked problems to review. My only disappointment is that she isnt teaching Chem 132 in the spring; Id definitely take her class again.
Chem 131 is overall a relatively difficult class no matter who your professor is, however, Dr. Raje makes learning a breeze and breaks down everything with great detail. If you're someone like me who likes to skip a class then you'll find this class to be very difficult since she doesn't use powerpoint so it's important to take good notes.
Dr. Raje doesn't overcomplicate the material and grades fairly, so getting an A is very realistic as long as you study. Gen Chem I is a commonly failed course, but the department tries to combat this by building extra credit opportunities into your grade. DO NOT WASTE THESE POINTS, as the content grows more challenging as the semester progresses.
Okay listen, at first I was not a fan, but over time I realized she is #1 in the department for a reason. She is decent at teaching to the classroom, but if you ever get lost GO TO HER OFFICE! She will help you and make things clear, and is welcoming about it. She may seem strict at first but you'll realize she is super funny and helpful!
Doesn't take attendance but as with any science class not going would only hurt you. She's very clear in lecture and provides many examples. Homework reflects directly what is covered on tests and she doesn't try to trick you. If you need help go to her office and she is more than welcoming. Really knows her stuff, best 131 teacher at Towson
First time taking 131 and it was not horrible, but things tend to be explained less clearly in class. Would go home and watch a 3 min video on what we learned in 45 min and understood it immediately. Check and see other sections for this one, and if you don't understand it and ask she gets very frustrated quickly so try and go to tutoring or online
I absolutely loved professor Raje! The class was difficult and very fast paced, but she wanted the class to pass so she made sure that we all knew the content well before she tested us. The tests were only graded on what we knew and learned in class, so if you studied and took good notes you would be fine. Overall a really great teacher!
Chemistry is hard but she made it better. She drops the lowest quiz and allows your final to replace your lowest test. She gives 25 extra credit points and truly tries helping all her students. We were a class of 80+ and she knew us all by first and lat name. She really is one of the few professors who loves teaching and cares for her students
Dr. Raje is # 1 for several reasons :-Teaches the material in a very clear way -Spaces out H W so it isn't overwhelming -Office hours extremely helpful and is very welcoming -Genuinely wants her students to do well and keeps it REAL -Guides you and gives great advice on whether to drop or stay and is very encouraging -Never makes u feel dumb
She's the best chemistry teacher at Towson. Sh explains things clearly and gives so many examples there's no way you won't know what she's talking about. Textbook is very useful so you need it. Everything with her is straight to the point which is why I think she's so great. Doesn't try to trick you or overcomplicate things
I got an A in her class because of how amazing she is. She cares about each and every one of her students despite what anyone says. She will not move on until you UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING. Speak up in class, ask questions or you WILL fail. Lots of extra credit. Do the modules!!! I also worked at my job more than 10hrs a week and I was fine!
Dr. Raje is a very nice lady who makes it very clear what to expect on quizzes and tests. Chemistry is a hard class but she makes it a lot easier
Maybe its just me, but my learning style did not work with Prof. Raje. She goes extremely too fast during lecture. I believe she can make the subject harder than it needs to be. Although she gives us a lot of examples and practice problems, when she is ready to move on to the next lesson, she will surely move on.
Teach-it-yourself course. Does not teach well, mostly expects students to already know the material. Gets frustrated when you ask questions, and often is not there during scheduled office hours. Had to fight to get the grade I got after she scored my exams incorrectly, and refused that it was her issue. If you take this section, read the book!
One of my favorite professors at Towson. She made everything clear and made sure you understood if you were confused. Also prepared you for tests very well, chem isn't an easy class so it was still not easy but she is the best professor to take.
Prof. Raje is an awesome professor. She made chemistry easier to understand than I expected and gave us a decent amount of extra credit to bump up our grades. To pass, DO THE HOMEWORK AND EXTRA CREDIT!!! Free points and it helps you understand the material. 3 tests plus a cumulative final. Take her if you get the chance!!!
I would take Raje again simply for her knowledge however she doesn't treat all of her students with respect and becomes frustrated when people ask questions. Overall she knows her stuff but you will have to work have outside of the class on practice problems. Extra credit is offered throughout semester albeit small
She's really cool and is very straight to the point. She tends to go fast in class but if you see her after class or in office hours she explains things very clearly. She really gives a good foundation that you'll need if you're going to take chem132 in the future
It was hard to understand her very thick accent. When you ask for help she acts like you should already know the material. She does give extra credit opportunity but they are long and tedious for barley a half a point. She speeds through course material so falling behind or missing a class can be detrimental. Not compassionate towards students.
She goes extremely fast for no reason, lacks communication for everything: understanding students questions and replying, scheduling lab reports and pre-labs, she is somewhat understanding, she is very kind and genuinely tries to help you. Just ask questions, pay attention as much as possible, and don't be afraid to talk to her like it is.
Dr. Raje is overall a good Professor compared to the other Instructors teaching this course. Lets face it, CHEM at Towson is very difficult, there are not many instructors who actually care about you passing this class. Some even brag about how many students fail their class. However, Dr. Raje showed her willingness to help her students. Take her.
She talks too fast, doesn't really care if you fail your quizzes, she loves to rush and teach everything at once just to say she taught it. Very little time is given to take quizzes that require a lot of math. As bad as she is, shes still better than bushey for sure.
AVOID!! She has an obsession with cheaters and makes her own quizzes, which are math heavy for only 25 minutes, and are 10 points each for like 7 questions. She does not care if you fail. Please save yourself from the tears, agony, and time.
Took this class online but still dropped the class. She was more concerned about cheaters during quizzes. Quizzes once a week, 25 mins for like 7-15 questions. Submissions for written work were to be submitted during that time as well Quizzes were 60%, HW 20%, Final 20% of your final grade. In-person may be better. 1/2 the class dropped the course
Simply DO NOT take Raje. My class started at 70 students, and there are about 20 people left. She gives weekly quizzes that are 10 to 12 questions and you have 30 minutes to complete the quiz and submit your work (math heavy). Raje does not care how her students are doing, she just rushes through the material and is only concerned about cheating!!
I failed her class but I'm doing great in my current Chem class and had to come back to give Prof. Raje a review because clearly she's the problem. SHE IS TERRIBLE. All she cares about is cheating on her test, not teaching. I hope she's not still the department head, she made Chem during the first semester of covid HELL. Lectures not clear. 1/10
This class was kinda hard. The professor had a lot of material to cover over the course of the semester so she moved quite fast but always made sure to open the floor for questions. During her office hours she will break down concepts step by step as many times as you need. Because she cares for her students, passing is definitely possible.
Starting off, I tried taking her class online and she isn't the best online teacher. But taking her in person made my performance skyrocket. Dr. Raje is a great teacher but the class is lecture-heavy. So, attend class, take notes, and study, you should be straight.
She is a nice person but, she is not a good teacher. I would give her a -1000/10. She cannot teach and does not give clear directions. She does not care about her students and does not help you either. I am warning you all now, do not take her. She made my first semester of college the worst.
I loved professor Raje. I was nervous taking chem especially after a year online, but she was able to make the transition to in person super easy. She always accounted for her students opinions and made sure to ask us what the class preferred in regards to how lecture was taught, how tests dates should be laid out etc. Definitely would take again!
Lectures weren't available online unless that class was held online, so make sure there's someone you can ask for notes from. She was very generous with grades--all homework has 2 attempts, and the lowest quiz is dropped. B/c of omicron, she made the final optional: if you skipped the exam, the grade was averaged, but she kept final forgiveness.
Professor Raje was a great professor. She was always available if you needed help by emailing you back quickly and having office hours at a reasonable time. Her quizzes were fairly easy if you showed up to class and did the HW, they resembled it exactly. All in all, she was a fair and easygoing teacher. I recommend her!
Professor Raje is an intimidating woman to be sure, however she's fair, funny (when you get to know her) and will help you if you go to her office hours. I'm normally a straight A's kinda student, however this class totally beat me - you really have to put Chemistry first in order to pass (mostly because it's so much memorization).
A textbook teacher that doesn't even teach out of our assigned textbook!
Dr. Raje is terrific! She is empathetic to the class and makes sure everyone is keeping up during lecture. She puts a lot of thought into making information digestible (by giving handwritten notes, checking in with the class.) She is highly accessible during office hours if you need some help -late night online office hours saved me! Funny too!
Chemistry is a hard class with so much material but she does an amazing job at teaching it. There are a lot of quizzes but you just need to study the material. She gives homework with the exact format of the quiz questions and lots of practice problems that are very helpful!
Dr. Raje's teaching style is a freshman's worst nightmare. You basically need to be prepared to teach yourself the brunt of most topics, because she will provide the bare minimum. She pretends to encourage questions, but her responses are always passive aggressive or just plain unclear. I'm really not sure why she has a 4/5 rating. BEWARE!
She is very good at explaining things, is always accessible outside and after class, and is just a generally good person to interact with. Could not have had a better chem professor!
Dr. Raje was a fast paced professor but gave many practice problems. She posts study guides for each chapter online if you're ever struggling and the quizzes and exams aren't the worst. If you stay focused in class and put some studying into the material, it will be easy. Overall Dr. Raje is a good professor and I recommend taking her.
Professor Raje really needs to reevaluate her teaching style... She literally just writes notes on a screen, wants you to copy them, and talks really fast. It's very hard to understand any of the material she teaches. Almost everyone failed her exams and quizzes because it's hard to learn anything. Please choose a different professor if you can.
If you are able to adapt to a fast-paced teaching style, can push yourself to ask for help, and can truly dedicate time and effort you will do just fine. In my personal experience - having this class in my first sem fresh year did not do me well. I chose not to work as hard as others and dedicated my time to others classes - thats ok
As a person, she seems nice and down to Earth. As a teacher, she isn't good at all. She goes through content super fast and her teaching style definitely won't suit everyone. All she does is write on blank sheets of paper in class which, for more visual learners, is a nightmare. And when you go back to review your notes, its incomprehensible.
This class is difficult, but worth it! She cares about her students and is a fair grader. She writes her own notes and projects it as you're writing hers. There are many different things you are graded on an extra credit opportunity. As long as you are willing to do all the work and study for every quiz and exam, you can get an A.
This course was very, very hard but Dr. Raje made it all worth it. I learned so much but beware it is a very fast paced class. She is always able and open for office hours and is very supportive and caring. I hope I get to take one of her classes again. She loves what it teaches and it shows. Labs are stressful and there are a lot of tests/quizzes.
Awful Teacher, Doesnt not know how to teach at all, her way of teaching students is putting her camera on a paper, and writing down and explaining extremely fast. extremely thick accent and quiz every week. also doesnt respond to emails. i dont understand how she got a 4.4 but she doesnt deserve it at all.
Please beware of this professor, the way she lectures is incredibly difficult because of the way she expects us to know the material without taking into consideration that this is Chem 131. She made the exams all open-ended compared to the rest of the chemistry department that would make it multiple choice. Tests were graded hard with no feedback.
Was a very knowledgeable professor but overcomplicated concepts, Class notes were almost impossible to keep up with having to write out 10 pages of word problems a class, being left having no idea what to study or what would be on quizzes. Didnt round up my 69% and I failed. Quizzes every other class.
For CHEM100 it was honestly WAY TOO MUCH work for an intro level class. Overall, 5 exams and she drops the lowest grade, but what she says will be on the exam IS NOT CONSISTENT with what was actually on them. To be fair it was her first time teaching this course, but it was not structured well at all
Does not teach well, and says that homework correlates with the quizzes which is 50% true. Points are heavy on certain quiz questions, so if you get a heavy point question wrong you lose 15-20 points. Questions on tests are vague/confusing. Needs to make homework correlate with test questions.
She's very nice and if you ask for help she does help you and explains it pretty well. She is a tough grader and quizzes can be hard but overall she does help you. Her lectures notes are not the best and you might need to sit in the front if you want to truly succeed in this class. I personally enjoyed the class but it is a hard class.
Although I withdrew from CHEM131, it wasn't because of Dr. Raje—she's an amazing professor, and I highly recommend taking her. 131 isn't easy, and that's coming from someone who loves chemistry and took it 3 times in high school. Dr. Raje teaches really well! Lot's of content, weekly quizzes, and homework, but she's great. Definitely take her!
This professor speaks, writes at 4x speed, and expects you to learn, write, and read simultaneously. She does not record lectures so if you're stuck on a question, you are required to go to textbook, or youtube or any other source to find the actual answer.
One of those teachers that if you couldn't begin to figure it out in lecture, you're probably not going to. The amount of Cs I've cried for is insane. lectures are confusing, previous reviews spoke of extra credit - not anymore in CHEM115, and if I personally needed help I didn't bother asking because her explanation wouldn't help me understand.
Dr. Raje explained concepts very fast in class, when asked to slow down or clarify about a topic she would always. She's obviously passionate about what she teaches, as well as cares for her students. The exams and quizzes taken throughout the class were in the same format, and she gave you the topics that each quiz and exam would have. Love her!
I loved Dr.Raje. She is caring. I will say, her lectures are extremely fast, and she could definitely be better at explaining some things, but she really wants her students to understand and encourages questions. To be successful in this course, you have to study outside of class. She gives a good amount of homework but they make good practice.
