great teacher, makes the class really interesting.
Highly recommended. If it were any other teacher I think I'd fall asleep in class.
She is such a great teacher! If you don't like Histroy you will love her class.:)
Awesome teacher, makes an otherwise dry subject very interesting. Easily done assignments, though numerous. Very fun to listen and watch her lecture.
GREAT PROFESSOR! She makes the class as interesting as possible. Work is very easy. No notes in the class. Just make sure you look like you're paying attention. Lot of reading though, and quizzes are done online. But she gives you more than enough time to complete them. Hard not to pull off an A in this class.
Most lib. biased prof. I have ever had. Differing opinions/beliefs met w/ scorn/ridicule so clam up. Re-uses quiz questions on tests, so there is little challenge. Regurgitate the spiel in writing assignments for an easy A. Accuracy of textbook "American Promise" sketchy. Ex. References discredited Michael Bellesiles yet teaches this material.
I took her class through WebCT, for an 8-week course, it was alot of work. It consisted of 2 current events a week, U.S. Constitution Quiz,20 chapter quizzes, and 5 esssays/papers. Some of the assigments seemed to be pointless to me and in her lecture notes it is obvious she is very liberal. I hated the textbook-it was boring and written poorly.

Dr. Cosgrove is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She cares about each and everyone of her students and makes an effort to connect with you and help you with anything you need. Her courses are fun and make learning history a breeze. I would highly recommend her to any student for History 101 and 102! She is an A++++ teacher!
Ahh! I love this class. I love how she cares about how we do, and she makes it very easy to understand. History isn't my best subject, but i haven't gotten below an 'a' on any of my assignments so far! its easy, and ill def. be taking her for 102!!!
amazingly talented
Awsome, Challengind and interesting view point. Do the work and get a good grade. Fun activites that are cognitive based.
She made us teach each other by having us present our reports and then stand there for 30 minutes talking about nonsense. All the while she sat there ****ing about republicans the entire semester. Would constantly plug her political views and actions into the class. Asked us all to participate in moveon.org activities.
Take this professor. Lectures are clear & concise. Tests are straight forward. You need to attend class & pay attention to do well. Recording the lecture helps too since she lectures practically from memory in a story format. Take history with this professor.
This teacher is wonderful! I love her lectures! One good thing about her is that she returns your emails really fast. I appreciate that. She wants you to succeed! Take her!
Dr. Cosgrove is a woman to be respected. She knows her facts AND she has a lot but easy work, as long as you study. She is very understanding as well. Take this teacher!
Very good proffesor although her opinions are pretty strong, she won't deminish yours if you don't agree with her, her lectures are very fun to listen she is very understanding of students and if your having trouble with the class (or something else) she usually gives you additional time to complete the work (if you let her know with time)
I have taken Dr. Cosgrove for 4 different classes and I wouldn't take any other professor. Some students don't agree with the way she teaches, but it's refreshing to see a professor who speaks her mind. She respects her students point of views and opinions even if they differ from hers. The Best Professor at CCSN.
I took this class online. Its easy as long as you read the stories. And they are quite lengthy. So be prepared. However, the class doesnt take all of your time. Its online for a reason, for your convenience. And she does a good job at not overwhelming you.
Professor Cosgrove is very responsive to students. Timely responses to email...feedback, too. I took the class Fall 2006 Online...You must do the work to be successful. Bonus points also rewarded!
our class was an 8 week online course. there was a lot of reading, but as long as you used the study notes the quizzes were pretty easy. no due dates on anything and we accepted as long as you turned them in before the end of the class
The class was an online 8 week course. There is a lot of reading and you can use your notes and books on the quizzes. The only thing is watch the final due date, she moved the due date up from the original one just a few days before things were due. But other than that just don't fall behind!
she is a great teacher, and she tries to make that boring subject history fun for her students. she also stays in contact with her students when they e-mail her. shes great
I took the online course. WONDERFUL. I never had a question not answered in less than 8 hours, the pace is just right. It is a lot of work but not having a final exam makes up for it. Great Teacher whish I could take her for other classes I would learn so much.
Dr. Cosgrove was a great instructor! I took her hybrid HIS101 course and she was so great at explaining the lectures and made them fun to listen to. I liked her teaching structure so much that I also took HIS102 with her online and I aced both of her courses! It's a lot of reading though! There's a test on every chapter and they're not easy.
very outgoing teacher knows what she's talking about if you want to learn about history definetely recommend this class
This class is fun even though i do not like history. There is a lot of freedom when it comes to the tests. Dr. Cosgrove's test are EXTREMELY hard and even with the book in front of you, can still get a F on a test.
Awesome teacher. history all of a sudden turned interesting. I love it! lots of tests..but easy . two essays. I was twenty days late on an essay but still passed with a B+ on it! Her speeches are in no way boring. Have to pay attention though. I'm taking her for 102!
Whatever you do, DO NOT take her online class over the summer. I heard she was a great teacher, and she is, but the workload will kill you if you actually do everything. You have to read the entire textbook in six weeks plus papers plus discussion postings. It's killer. I did get an A in the class, but I spent about 25 hours a week doing homework!
Professor Cosgrove is a great instructor. Both 101 and 102 involve a TON of reading but it is interesting and you'll read through it quickly. Discussion posts, quizzes, and papers are all easy as long as you read the book.

I loved taking her over the summer...this was a 6 week course for me. Only 3 papers which was super nice with having a total of 4 classes in the summer. She was very helpful and responded to my emails very quickly. We just had discussion posts and 6 tests, although they were in depth well worth my time. Got an A but had to work hard.
Someone that claims that the presence of a pipe found near the oldest skeleton in the world is scientific proof that the war on drugs is a waste of time is completely out of their mind. I have never seen anyone bash religion as much as her. I thought I was "learning" from Rosie O'Donnell.
History is not my favorite subject, but her sense of humor and blunt way of explaining things really made the class enjoyable. As long as you keep up on the readings and the online work you should have no problem in her class.
Excellent professor. Well structured online course. A lot of reading with quizzes after each chapter, but you get to take them twice and keep the best grade. Three short papers and three discussion questions. If you do the work you?ll get a good grade. Professor Cosgrove is very helpful and responsive to emails. Highly recommended.
Prof. Cosgrove is by far the best teacher I've ever had. I won't take a history class now unless it's with her. She's a very helpful teacher and if you do the reading and don't procrastinate, it's an easy class to pass. History was never my best subject in HS, but she makes you want to learn it. Good choice with the book, too.
Great teacher, would take her again. She is very helpful and responds quickly. There are a log of assignments in the 8 week course, but no due dates exept the papers. Awesome class!
She was not the best at responding to emails which I feel is important, especially in an online course setting. I had trouble with uploading one of the assignments in time & sent it via email. I kept emailing her to see if she received it. Never was courteous enough to reply. I still to this day to not know what the grades where on that assignment.
Not too happy
Anyone who says this professor is bad probably didn't put in the effort to this class. There's a lot of reading, yes. But she's a very fair grader. My boyfriend and I took it together and both got A's. She even gives a ton of extra credit points. She was a great teacher. I'm taking another class with her spring term.
By far one of the best professors i've ever had. Funny, smart woman! She has a way of describing things that really brings you into history. Her lectures are so amusing and easy to remember, and the book she used is quality. Will never take another history professor other than her (signed on for her 102!). The woman knows her stuff!!
There are 2 books: America (British) & American Indians... The 1st week you're asked to read 11 chapters in America for the test, but all the answers are in Amer. Indians chapter 1. Some of the questions are in the next units reading so go ahead & then backtrack by going to unit exam then backing out. Her notes are funny and easy to understand.
If you are taking her class online, make sure to watch her supplemental vidoes she posts for each chapter. Some questions she asks are from her book. She is really quick to respond to emails which is nice. An easy course if you're willing to do the reading. She likes some creative writing skills applied to her writing assingments. Over all = Good!
Online summer course**** this teacher has some great reviews but if you are taking this as a summer online course, Don't. It's very time consuming and too much information to go thru for each chapter plus 3 papers, student discussions and responses and the quizzes are extremely difficult. Their is no quick way to complete any chapter.
Took her in Spring 2012. Great teacher, VERY interesting lectures and easy A if you read the book & take advantage of supplemental videos. At first, I thought she was too politically opinionated but quickly realized it was always related to history repeating itself. Take her, you won't regret it.
Terrible teacher do not take an online class with her she sets up her students to failure or attain below C that is the minimum for health programs requirements.* I have to repeat it just because she dropped my grade to C-
I would not advise the online class. The lecture notes and the textbook are useless with the quizzes (which she says they cover) You just need to hope you're amazing at writing for the papers, discussion posts, and website reviews to pass.
I don't advise taking the online course. It's too much reading, watching videos, etc. Especially if you have more than two classes. Some of the questions on the online quizzes, aren't on the textbook, but on the lecture notes she has and video and some I don't know.
This is a WARNING. If you are working full time and taking at least one other class DO NOT take this course with this instructor. There is A Lot of reading required from two textbooks plus more. A timed quiz each week covering all reading material, three research papers, and discussions question at the format the instructor requests each week.
A LOT of work for 8 weeks - 8 quizzes, 4 discussion questions, 4 website reviews, responses to 3 other papers, and a lot of reading. The class is interesting, but in 8 weeks you are just doing the work. Quizzes are difficult and come from the book. a lot of extra reading, videos and audios are assigned. If you take the class, be prepared to work!
I took a hybrid class and she was wonderful. She's to the point, blunt, and the quizzes are decently easy.
The class is decent but I could have taken something less time consuming. The assignments are straight to the point and you WILL need to read your textbook every single week until the online course is over. She is understanding with make up if an emergency comes up and you explain to her via email which I liked!
This class will be very time consuming and you will need to read your textbook every week. It's not a walk in the park but it's not difficult either. As long as you do the work you'll pass with flying colors. If you do take the course just be prepared to dedicate the next few weeks to writing essays, using your textbook, and you'll be good to go
She is a horrible teacher. she gives a ridiculous amount of reading, she gives the same 4 assignments every week. Her directions are not clear, and she changes grades after she has already post them. I would not recommend this professor.
I took her online accelerated class. Lots of writing and reading. She gives extra points at the end, took my B to an A
This class is extremely time consuming be prepared to do extra work! not very clear on assignments and I think the work load is unrealistic as if her class was the only class one should take, I don't recommend this instructor!
I took the accelerated course, and it was jam packed with assignments. It felt like a creative writing class, not a history class. Be prepared to pretend you are a super heroes and time travelers. History is interesting in itself, we don't need to "make believe" it is. If I had to take this class over I would; and with a different professor.
An excellent professor who was very responsive and knows her stuff. I would gladly take another class from her. Or maybe she can take one from me?
Excellent professor and enjoyable class. I loved the creative writing assignments and also how she downloads her lectures for online students. Her tests are open book. Easy A as long as you complete the assignments and read the text (I recommend listening to the lectures too; they're entertaining and will help you on the tests).
This class is a little difficult but it is completely worth it. She is very helpful and easy to get along with. Just work hard and follow instructions. I took her hybrid class and I had a little trouble at first but it all worked out. I would surely recommend her. Just be prepared.
I have taken over 10 upper division history classes (300+ level classes) none of which were as difficult as this class. The content of this class is not difficult, it his her unrealistic expectations which are. Avoid this class and this teacher at all costs.
Answers questions and concerns in a timely manner. Assignments were odd, to say the least. I felt as though this was more of a creative writing class than a history class. You will have to pretend to ancient artifacts, and traveling time lords. Workload wasn't overbearing for an 8 week course.
She is terribly inconsistent. All assignments have descriptions, but the descriptions are not what she expects you to have in your submitted assignment. Several of my assignments were taken down 2-3 letter grades because of this miscommunication on her part.
I've come to the conclusion this professor is going through the change of life; she runs hot and cold. A lot of reading and writing for a 101 class, even at college level. She casts a broad net about what she wants, then marks you down for not including specifics not stated. Can be very dictatorial and unyielding. Materiel's interesting however.
Took her hybrid History 101 class. Loved her lectures, she's very funny and makes learning history very interesting. 8 quizzes, constitution quiz, & four two-page papers, her class is not difficult, just try, do your research, and you'll pass.
If 300-1000 word papers are long then you should reconsider the whole college thing. I even bombed my last paper and still managed an "A" in her class. Great resources and Power Point lectures for your papers. Films have transcripts marked by title and time for easy writing. Pay attention to sources she want or she will dock you. Good critiques.
You MUST PASS THE CONSTITUTIONAL QUIZ TO PASS THE CLASS! There were eight (8) modules; four consisted of imaginary writing and the other four were chapter/power point material. Each module has a test in which you are allowed to take twice with the lowest grade thrown out. Put the effort in and you will certainly pass!
While any half-semester class is difficult, her's is challenging, although she makes the class much easier! She allows for assignments to be turned in past due-dates if you fall behind, she's very lenient in her grading, her lectures are fantastic, and she provides MUCH material that can be used to complete assignments! Would recommend to anyone!
I'm finishing up my Hist 102 online class with Dr. Cosgrove, and she's great. 3/4 of the assignments are papers, but I'm terrible at writing papers, yet I have not gotten below a B on any of them. She is very clear and is happy to answer questions. She also gives 25 bonus points at the end of the semester if you completed all assignments.
Took the 8 week online course. Get ready to read right away. There are weekly papers, which aren't too long, don't worry if you aren't the best writer just have the information needed. Really easy class, just manage your time on assignments.
She gave a lot of homework that I wasn't able to keep up with because I also work full time so I ended up failing her class. She's a lenient grader. Just be prepared to read and watch a lot of videos. Points are taken off every day you don't show up to class.
I was a little shocked at the amount of reading and online videos and lectures there were in this class, but it was taken over the summer so it was a little more intense than it normally would be I suppose. Once I got into the groove of how things were done it got a bit easier. She is not too hard on grading so just put in the work.
Awesome teacher you will definitely learn history and it will actually stay with you and I have never liked history classes. She answers emails very quickly and wants students to succeed. Extremely accessible at all times will take classes with her again read the book listen to lectures and watch the amazing videos she posts and you will pass
do not take this class. she gives way to much homework and is a tough grader. she treats this class as if its english. Ive gotten A's in all my english classes so far, but I'm doing terrible with this history/english. a paper i worked my butt off by literally reading through everything, i got a C on when i was sure i was going to get an A. Avoid!!
Professor Cosgrove's class was not an easy one but it wasn't difficult either. There is a lot of reading involved, but as long as you put work in you'll get a good grade. She's very clear on her expectations. I will be taking her again for my History 102 class.
Discussions and papers are like creative writing assignments. You become the character of time period and use the material from lecture and book. Clear criteria. Papers aren't in any format, simply just write it. Taking her again for Hist 102.
I loved this class! I love history but after taking her class, she made me like it even more! She's hilarious and makes her lectures interesting! Definitely recommend her.
Homework was never ending. Essays and tests every week. What she says is the most important is not what the book says is most important. Hope you only have one class if you take this. Be prepared to write essays on past chapters while reading and completing homework on new chapters. If you can find a different professor I would go for it.
Amazing Professor! I enjoyed the History 101 and 102 classes. I learned a great deal of history. We did a great deal of writing in the class but it was like creative writing where you play the role of someone from history. It was lots of fun. Definitely a unique way to each a class. Do the work, do the writing, read, read read! you will be fine
This is probably the only professor that will answer any question a student has with the correct answer, and most importantly, without the text! If you are a SERIOUS STUDENT and want a teacher that fully understands the subject they are teaching, I highly suggest you take this class.
Only allows 4 days (and no weekends) to complete assignments. Does not allow students to use laptops for note taking. Rude/poor communication. Asks for a copy of your voter registration card (not evem sure that is legal as that is confidential information). Do not recommend.
Absolute worst teacher ever! You need to pass a constitution quiz just to pass the class. Too much reading & too many essays! Only an 8 week class & her videos can last days. Absolutely terrible. Needs to be fired !
YOU WILL BE STRESSED. I work full time and thought taking an eight week course would be my best bet, but she is not helpful at all. Her feedback is back handed and her lessons are not organized. Her resources do not help with papers at all. You have to refer back to chapter one to write a paper covering chapter six. It makes no sense.
I loved this class! As long as you do the work on time and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, you should pass.
She is an amazing professor!! I highly recommend her class. Her lectures are very clear and informative. She may jump around a lot ,but always keeps it connected. She is very politically involved so she knows what's going so if you have a question about something she will give you the best response.
I am a student from Belgium and was in CSN one semester. Teacher is one of the most strict but also most considerate teacher. She grades with toughness, but is also passionate about History and really want us to learn. If you are wiling enough to make effort take her.
Overall, the class is easy. Be an overachiever and exceed the word count requirements and going overboard with all the information that SHE gives you, and you will get 100s. Also, be aware that this class is especially easy for liberals. She hated my conservative answers. Sometimes she wants something specific but asks too vague of a question.
Professor Cosgrove is a fantastic teacher- caring, patient and understanding. I found the tests to be easy, but not everyone did. There was quite a bit of written work, but it was easy. Cosgrove cares about her students! I remember emailing her and getting a response within an hour. I would definitely take her again!
Decent teacher. Allows late work just with some points taken off. Although you are reading so much! all her PDFs AND from the book just to write a paper or 2. Each module has 2 papers then a summary you have to write. Sounds easy, but when uninterested in the topic its pretty hard haha. Don't take if you are just trine get an easy pass.
LOTS of material to go through, and all her assignments are writing assignments (although they're not exactly long assignments). While her assignments aren't exactly difficult to do, they are very time consuming when it comes to reading the material. So, if you're a full-time college student with 4 other classes to study for, this is one to avoid.
For an 8 week course there are four papers. They are creative writing papers although, there are three prompts for each paper and you must answer each prompt.
Her grading is very inconsistent, especially with late-work. With all the work she makes us do, it's hard to keep up even as a full-time college student, so I have to turn assignments in late. At times she'll only take a couple points off, but other time it could be a whole letter grade. Her expectations are also really unrealistic.
Will work with you and gives you everything you need to succeed just need to put in the time to study.
I advise you don't take her live class. I think you'd be better off with her online class. All her material is on Canvas so there really is no need to be physically present. She is a great teacher as I have learned a lot. Be prepared to read, you'll go through the whole book. No tests per-say but you'll need to expand your learning on paper.
The WORST professor I have ever taken!! The textbook is no help and if you ask for her assistance she will only direct you back to the syllabus or to the writing center. Her directions aren't clear and she is not helpful whatsoever!! Be sure to take a different professor because she is TERRIBLE!! DON'T TAKE HER! Honestly wish I could give her a 0!
Takes points off if your paragraphs are too short or too long. You could write this long beautiful paper with amazing vocabulary and get a D on it. Too strict of a grader, her modules are atrocious. They dont give you any information to answer the discussion questions. Her directions are not clear and she thinks this is an English class.
Passionate about history and funny lectures. Learned a lot, but a lot of homework. Accepts late assignments.
the most difficult course ive taken. Grading not clear she will mark you off for things not listed in her instructions. Will mark you off 15 points off a 30 point assignment for capitalization and spelling mistakes. average time spend on this per week 8-10 4 hours reading 1 hour video 2 hours assignments. wouldn' recommend pick another professor
Dont take. She gives too many assignments and doesnt give enough time. Not doable while working full time job. Some assignments are all due in one day. Less than one week for another assignment due. Gives extra credit. Word count and grammar matters.
The most horrible professor I ever had . She gives endless assignments and they all have to be don't perfect if not it's a straight up zero . She's very strict with grammar and if you use certain words wrong it's an automatic zero for the assignment. She's not even an English teacher and she's strict when it comes to grammar .
You should never take her class. I've never seen tough grader like her. Lecture have to use only text book and her documents but that document has not enough information for her assignment.
This teacher asks for a lot and gives little in return. The materials given to read for Her discussions/papers often contain little information to help with answering prompt questions. I don't recommend this teacher if you're looking for an easy class let alone if you're looking for a rewarding experience learning history.
You have to read the whole book pretty much. It's also A LOT of homework for a history class on top of the sheer reading you need to do. You need tons of free time to take this class.
Dr. Cosgrove is one of the best professors. I learned so much in her class. Take her class if you want to learn. Shes amazing, I highly recommend her class. The documentaries are amazing. Dr. Cosgrove is a feminist and she knows her history.
Her lectures are something to look forward to. You would love to attend her lectures because she narrates it as if all of you were present during that time. Although her class homework needs a lot of reading, she gives very clear and informative outlines and summaries. She is prompt and serious when lectures begin but is a very good storyteller.
10-15 essay questions(200 words per question), due every 2 weeks. Others are complaining, but she doesn't give any other assignments. There's only 1 test, U.S. Constitution. Tough on grammar/spelling, but doesn't require MLA or references. You're allowed to use outside resources. She wants your responses in your own words so she knows you get it.
If you work full time, this is NOT a class to take in the summer. Too much pounded into each week. LOTS of reading, not just book chapters but addt'l sources that must be used in the assignments! Grading is ridiculous! It should be a history class, to learn history, not a writing class. The grading is more on your research ability and writing.
Honestly the hardest teacher I had in 2 years of college. Terrible grading criteria. Unrealistic standards for her papers, and docks off a whole letter grade over grammar mistakes. Try your best to avoid her class
She is a good professor, smart. Her lectures were very interesting. Expect to spend about 3 -4 hours reading a week. The course work is fair, not overwhelming but you need to answer the questions she posts very specifically. If you leave out anything she asks for she will dock points. I took at home with 3 kids. Everything you need is provided.
I am taking a history class NOT an English class. I got A's in English 101 and English 102, there is no reason to focus all of her grading on grammar and punctuation. She uploads course material and gives detailed assignments, however, her assignments are a joke. They are called discussions when in reality they are pointless roleplaying essays.
She is very harsh in her grading. Even if you do the work she will give you low scoring. Just can't get it right with her. Better take a different teacher. Take very long to grade.
She is INCREDIBLY tough in her grading. Despite putting forth your best effort it's still most likely you will not get a perfect score on ANYTHING. If you haven't done every little bit of research on a person she assigns and answer with ALL the researched info, you'll most likely get a C at best. Choose a different professor and save yourself.
Extremely subjective grader. The discussion questions made me feel I was in theater class. Very hypocritical on grammar. I located several grammatical errors in the syllabus and the modules, but this teacher will knock you for minor grammar errors. Feedback was not accurate either. This teacher would serve the world better as a thespian coach.
Everytime I turn my assignments on time she gives me a bad grade and she makes me to do it again and she never give me a perfect score on anything and her lecture is super inaccurate for my assignments and SHE IS STUPID! >:
This professor does not respect your time. She assigns too much reading and grades your assignments so arbitrarily as to make you wonder why you bother. Expect a very large workload and very little in the way of reward if you take one of her history classes. Skip this one if you can and invest your precious time somewhere else.
To be completely honest the class wasn't terrible but discussions are time consuming. You will definitely have to read the textbook and watch the lectures to obtain your answers. She grades like an English professor so be prepared for that, it's rare to score higher than a 16/25 on the discussion posts.
Prepare to take an English and theatre class. The discussion questions are basically role-playing. She grades ridiculously tough and you probably won't get more than a 20/45 on the discussion questions no matter how much effort you put in. The easiest thing you'll do is document analysis. Save yourself time and stress and pick another professor.
I enjoyed my Hist101 in classroom with different professor, so I was alittle disappointed with Hist102 online with Dr Cosgrove. A personal email to the students during the course would have been appreciated. Just a "hope you all are doing okay, I know this is a trying time for everyone, keep up the good work." All the time I spent didn't show.
My grade is low because I didn't know what is plagiarize, but I going to watch the lecture to take notes, and write instead of plagiarize. I told her I was going over her lecture and write my own answer she doesn't care. I getting freaked out and she is so evil! >:(
Professor Cosgrove, was very hard grader I would not take this class I would pick a different professor. I honestly consider quitting college because of this professor I had to hire a tutor on my own to pass but she still gave me a D . Which I didnt agree I gave my 100 percent to just fail . I honestly did not learn anything .
Professor Cosgrove had about 8 videos a week to watch at minimum some are an hour to 2 hours long. There were a lot of assignments and two tests that are required to pass her course that are outside of exams. Would never take the class again highly don't recommend it. Too critical of a teacher.
Detailed course syllabus & grading rubric. Follow all directions or lose pts. Tests are open book & paper notes, but she expects specific answers. Perfect grammar is a must; don't take this class if you're not a writer. Around 2 hrs reading each ch. (2 ch per week), 3 hrs of videos, 2 short essays & 1 quiz per wk. Up to 30 pts of extra credit.
Pros 1. Interesting insignments where you are supposed to write in the perspective of a historal figure. 2. Bonus points if you complete all your work Cons 1.Teacher insists on correct spelling (1-2pts deducted per error). If you use basic grammar and use words correctly then you'll be good. Also use Grammarly! 2. The quizes don't give enough time
NO. DO NOT TAKE. She is the worst teacher of all time. Spelling/grammar mistakes but expects you to be perfect or you fail. Extremely tough grader. Constitution quizzes are SO HARD. YOU CAN'T EVEN CHEAT BECAUSE HER ANSWERS ARE WRONG! STAY AWAY! HATE HER
I took her class and she was so rude every time she gave me terrible feedback she was so rude and she's being disrespectful and I hated her and her lecture are nonsense so please don't take her class
She believes I am cheating when I know I'm not, I have only used the textbook. She grades me with low grades even when I try so hard. She also is no help at all, I keep coming to her for help and all she says is to read the book. She's the first teacher I've received grades of 0. THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER DONE IS TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER.
Videos and lectures were out of date. She changed textbooks between semesters but didn't change her prompts, so assignments were sometimes impossible when we weren't allowed to use any other resources. Feedback was almost nonexistent unless it was critical. I'm honestly changing schools to avoid taking another class from her.
It's the first module and I'm already tired, I see what all the reviews meant now : / she's whack with just her rules being "6 sentences only with 300 words, do this do that" attitude. Like ummmm this is history, you get what you get.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She will deduct points if you do not use proper grammar, yet she misspells A LOT. Her feedback is just more questions. She will have you watch multiple hour-long videos and those videos will not answer her questions so you will have to use outside sources, even though she says not to. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RUN
BE VERY PREPARED AND I HOPE YOU ARE GOOD WITH TIME MANAGMENT!!! I was overwhelmed on the very first day! She assigns a TON of video lectures which are long and outdated, on top of having to read through multiple pdf files, and textbook. She is an intense grader. If all possible, take another instructor.
This is a very intense class. I took it online during the summer which I absolutely do not recommend. You will be expected to read around 100 pages out of the textbook (4 chapters) and watch at least 2 hours' worth of videos every week with a quiz and 2 discussion questions with 6-9 questions in each to total at least 300 words per assignment.
I took Professor Cosgrove's class during the summer, and let me tell you, I WOULD NEVER TAKE HER CLASS AGAIN. She takes forever with grading assignments, her feedback is horrible, and everything has to be written, only 2 multiple choice quizzes and lots of reading. I felt like I was retaking an English class.
I do not recommend Dr. Sondra Cosgrove History 100 class. But if you do decide to take her class DO NOT take it as an accelerated course. Her expectations are way beyond what she has asked for. I spent over 12 hours a week working on assignments for just this class.
This class is really challenging. I made the decision to withdraw from the class as I found the added stress to be unnecessary. The workload consisted of extensive reading and the grading was notably harsh. My advice would be to steer clear of this class altogether; it's not worth the extra stress.
I read other students' feedback. It is a history class, of course, there is a lot to read or hear about. She is fair in giving grace for missed assignments (too fair IMO). She is a very smart lady, likely very opinionated and strong-willed, which will piss you off if you are insecure. Overall, I don't agree with the knocks on her. Take her class
Professor Cosgrove has high expectations, but engaging with her teaching style pays off. The readings can be heavy, but Unstuck AI helped me stay on top of the workload. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding history course.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course! The book we used was engaging and kept my attention throughout. The instructor does require proper grammar and complete paragraphs for each question. If you love history and you're not intimidated by weekly essays, I recommend it to anyone who isn't looking for an easy class and is genuinely interested in learning!
Honestly not too demanding all things considered, but only take this class if you really enjoy creative writing.
