class average for all the tests were 40. and she doesn't curve.
She only copies previous semester's notes as her lecture and miswrites a lot and it gets really confusing of you don't ask questions. She does give a few extra credit opportunities, but not many
If you don't attend class, then you're not going to do well on tests. All test averages have been in the 50's with no curves only extra credit. Hardest Gen Chem teacher I don't recommend taking her ever.
Ugh this class is by far the hardest class. First the lectures are super long and then you really don't learn anything because its too much info, so it is a self taught class. And all class test we have taken this year, the average was around 55. She gives extra credit but only to get the average to 60 and you have to work pretty hard for it.
This professor is by far the worst I have had here at UNT. She does all of her lectures by copying fill in the blank notes which are not helpful and contain too much information so concepts are touched on but not explained enough to be fully understood. Her tests are extremely hard and are not similar to the multiple reviews she gives. Do not take!
Very tough class. Zero curves, zero mercy. You have to dedicate many hours to get a good grade , let alone pass. Dr. Sophie is a very nice person, but I didn't learn much in her class. Don't take her unless you really love chemistry and plan to study for more hours than there are in a day.
I am not a Chemistry major and I found this class surprisingly interesting. I was pretty much clueless about chem. She is sweet but soft spoken. You do have to dedicate some time to study but I found her tests pretty straight forward. And we had online quizzes. The book helps understand concepts so much! I took her in the summer and I got an A.
The quizzes were challenging but you get 3 attempts and they're open book. Take those seriously and they'll help you immensely with your overall grade and better prepare you for the exams. She gave a full 20 points (20% of an exam) of extra credit for attending SI sessions and you get extra credit questions on every exam. Plus an 89% is an A.
shes a really good prof. but teaches really slow. Print of the handout and fill in the blanks in class. I took her over the summer and still found that she teaches slow and lectures are a little boring. Make sure you practice a lot of the problems she gives in the notes and quizzes and go the SI sessions too they help a lot.
To note on "so many papers": printing out 160 pages of fill-in-the-blank lecture notes, and if you're like me, didn't help me study, just used $5 of my printing credit, and hours of my time to rewrite into a notebook--hoping I can remember something. I understand she's from UT Austin. However, if you are not impassioned by chemistry, DO NOT TAKE.
I think she's a pretty good teacher, but her tests are ridiculously hard. So far all the averages have been in the 50s, and she refuses to curve. Your only saving grace is that she drops one test and replaces another with whatever you get on the final (as long as you did better on the final) and some extra credit. DON'T SKIP CLASS & study quizzes.
This teacher is extremely nice, but she is a HORRIBLE prof. FOR EVERY TEST the class average grade was BELOW a 70. She more than knew the material she was attempting to teach, but she was not able to successfully teach it to her students...... if at all possible, avoid this prof.
Wow, Sophie Kinyanjui may be one of the nicest professors on UNT's campus, and also one of the absolute worst professors I have ever taken. She had 6 tests, a final, 3 papers, and a group project which was ridiculously disorganized, all of her test averages have been below 50s, she doesn't give study guides... if you value your sanity, avoid her:(
Took during Summer 5W1 - great professor, made Chemistry easy, super lenient and chill, extra credit is such a life saver!
YIKES Her lectures are EXTREMELY slow and while she's a very sweet person she doesn't seem to know anything about chem herself. She teaches the most basic chem things in class and then throws you into the deep end on homework. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.
I got through her class without actually learning anything and I am now paying for it in my upper-level biochem classes. Do not take this class if you care about your grade or are planning to continue with a science major! You will not know the information you need to know.
Took for lab and quizzes had videos attached but videos had nothing to do with quizzes, quizzes were hard and I had no idea where the material she was basing the quiz was coming from. Quizzes were out of order and had odd turn in dates that did not go with labs. Quizzes were numbered but were not listed to specific lab experiments. Terrible lab.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is a nice woman but there is SO much work, you will want to explode. There are 6 exams, group projects, online HW, 3 essays, and more. I am a senior in college and have never taken a course that is so demanding of coursework. Seriously, if you love yourself, do not take her courses.
DO NOT TAKE. I got an A in chem 1 and am not passing this class. She lectures the whole class and barely shows you any practice problems, then expects u to come to recitation and gives little short worksheets to see if you know it. Then she makes you get in a group of 4 to do that ws all over again with a group. Lots of homework as well. TestsHARD
(Sigh) Where do I start, this class has given me all the anxiety. No, I am not kidding do yourself a favor and take this class with another professor - trust me, you will regret taking this class. 1. She reads from lengthy Powerpoints that are available on BB 2. 70 students failed our most recent exam with 59s or below 3. Does not answer emails
she barely lets you know ahead of time when things are due ... unclear about assignments .. hardly finishes lectures in time. there were 4 total exams, 3 essays, a group project/debate, and online homework.
Prof Kinyanjui is the worst professor I had in my college career. I sent multiple emails asking for extra work before an upcoming exam to practice or for help on assignments and she blew off every one of them. Homework due dates weren't on the syllabus. Good luck getting help from her. The TA is who helped me pass the course.
Horrible professor, I've had professors with thick accents before and she is the only one that i have had a problem with. She is NEVER clear with instruction and even contradicts herself CONSTANTLY. The TA did not help either as she was the same way and whenever 70% of your class is failing, then that says A TON.
Im not the best at chemistry so to me this class was stressful. There's weekly hw done online, group work, 3 essays and lots of exams !!! like week after week it would be a new one (5 exams through out the semester and the final exam). The exams are not that hard as long as you study the reviews she gives in class since they are extremely similar.
She is inept at teaching. Absolutely horrible at explaining things and not very receptive when people asked her questions. There were a few papers that were easy but entirely too long for what they were focused on.
Organization is not Dr. K's strong suit, but overall I think she's a good professor. She knows what she's talking about but don't be afraid to ask Q's. 3 essays, easy. 4-5 tests (provides study guide). Group project. Online HW, pay attention to dates! I am not good at chem at all but i got an A. Make a friend and actually study and you'll be fine.
Ugh. Where to start. It has been a nightmare! Her lectures are not helpful at all with what she expects from us on the tests(5 plus final!). The exams are hard! Homework, group assignments, and essays are easy but not worth enough to help. I am graduating this semester and I am terrified to find out my final grade. Do Not Take this class!
Horrible. 5 tests plus a final (that is scheduled @ 8am on a Saturday) Her expectations for non-science majors is laughable and her tests reflect that
Shes contradictory &oblivious to everyone during lectures and hardly ever notices when someone raises their hand for questions in class. Majority fail exams. there is a quiz at the end that she says shes going to only include questions that we students create and tells everyone to study those; yet, there are only 5 student questions/25 included.
The work necessary for this course is really ridiculous considering this is a freshman level class for non-majors. The professor offers extra study sessions that don't help and are the equivalent of just sitting through more of her boring lectures. The exams are hard even after studying and there's quiz at the end not over what she said it was.
She is by far one of the most difficult professors I have ever had. Her course is challenging and her exams are damn near impossible.
Her workload for the class was extremely intense! It included two 1000 word essays, online hw, virtual group work, 5 exams, one groupwork quiz, and a mandatory final. The majority of the time I saw many student's fail exams, but if you study the study guides question by question the majority is on the exam. Slow grader too Good luck
She's an okay professor. Just study for the exams! also remember to stay determined and focused mid semester because that's when we all usually start to fall off. All in all it was an okay class. I suck at chemistry and managed to pull hopefully and A or B.. Still waiting on my final exam grade. Goodluck to you all!
GET THE TEXTBOOK. Most of the q's will come from the chapter reviews. Very sweet lady, but I studied and read SO MUCH for that class and got grades in the 60's for 2 out of the 5 exams she gives. So long as you do the reviews, you should be good for the final, but don't *ever*get complacent.
this class was really good. I am not good at science what so ever. The only reason I didn't get an A in this class was because I missed the final. I would most definitely recommend if you're looking for an easy science credit. I'm not saying you don't have to study but you would do just fine if you didn't.
I had Professor Kinyanjui during the 5 week Summer one course and I thoroughly enjoyed the class and her as a professor. She was always helpful and was more than willing to answer any questions that I had for her throughout the course. She provided detailed multiple choice reviews before each exam that were extremely helpful. Great Professor!
She was unable to answer my questions. Had to get outside help. Hardest class I have ever taken. Can't understand her and she does not elaborate when you ask for it.
Professor Kinyanjui is a sweet woman, however she can't teach. Our test averages have all been in the 40s so far. If the entire class with the exception of 2 people fail, it isn't the students fault. She is very disorganized, and tends to not show many examples, but rather lecture over conceptual stuff that doesn't even appear on the exam.
In my opinion, this course was super easy. If it is difficult for anyone, I would recommend just reading the textbook that the class is required to purchase. That and the teaching assistant provides help too. My complaint is that the professor is difficult to understand and does not explain concepts well. Other than that, she's a nice lady overall.
Professor Kinyanjui gives out too many handouts, lots of homework, too many online quizzes, and the tests are very difficult, shes a very tough grader, even if you think You have done very great.
This is coming from a person that has a 3.6 gpa in science classes, not saying that is great but its means I somewhat care. So by saying that, I am giving you guys a fair warning to COMPLETELY ERASE THE THOUGHT OF EVER TAKING CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR. The material is tolerable to teach yourself because thats basically what you pay for with her.
I dont understand the ratings, Sophia does not deserve a 1.9 rating. Its nearing the end of the semester and she has been great. She has curved every test (20 points for our second exam) and even reduced the answer choices to three for an exam. Seems like people dont want to put in the effort for a STEM class.
Dr. K is a wonderful person but a terrible professor. Everything I learned I had to teach to myself. There was way too much homework to ever keep up with. If you plan on taking this class with Dr. K, and expecting to get an A, then make sure you aren't taking any other classes, and plan to dedicate every waking moment you have to this class.
The class itself is very hard but Dr. K gives a lot of extra credit opportunities on top of exam curves. If you don't go to class for the lectures you will fall behind. She works with the students and was willing to make changes to the course when there were enough complaints about it.
Shes a great professor, really flexible and adds really nice curves to the exams. Material is hard and you have to put a lot of effort. First week is the toughest and homework is very time consuming. Attend class and take notes. Its hard but not impossible to get an A if you really work for it.
Professor Kinyanjui may be a tough choice due to her lectures and hard exams, but she curved a lot of our exams and gave tons of extra credit through aleks, problems given in class and si sessions. She gives out a quiz every recitation class so attendance is mandatory. Definitely get in a groupme and attend as many group study sessions to pass.
Lots of homework but it's honestly worth it. She's sweet as a person and she was lenient with the students requests and really took them into consideration. I've taken both her and Petros and I'd reccomend her over Petros any day. She really cared. She took out an answer choice and made it A,B,C to give students better chances. Reviews help.
She kinda sucks at teaching. Really thick accent. Does not know how to use Canvas, I got 135 notification per hour just for her class the first week. Does not update canvas calendar at all. Also everything on her Canvas had Big bold highlighted "Remove before posting" explaining how to use canvas. Which she still messed up. Pick any other teacher.
Dr. K was amazing. She does have a thick accent and it takes a little bit to get used to her teaching style, but once you do, it is really good. She does give a lot of homework but it helps to even out the grades of the exams. Her exams are not too bad. She is very understanding and gives a lot of extra credit. She strives for success.
(course taken over zoom)She is a good professor, but her lectures were always behind compared to the homework assignments. She gives attendance quizzes every lecture so I would make sure to join a good Groupme that would help you out if you don't get to lecture on time.
Taking this class during a pandemic was a doozy. She assigned a lot of homework and assignments that would have been fine otherwise. I felt like I was doing busy work. Very tough grader on essay and group work. The PowerPoints provided did not help much with understanding the material. She has office hours (go to them) and she is understanding.
Professor really knew her stuff, was very helpful in lectures, and always answered student's questions. I probably would have done better if I tried harder, but her teaching was always on point with the exams.
Dr. Kinyanjui is not an instructor that is best suited trying to teach a large pool of undergraduates. She is a professor that is all over the place, unorganized, and relies much on her teaching assistant to get lessons across the class. Would not recommend taking her class.
She sucks! I am majoring in chemistry and she has taken all the fun and love I have for it away. She is not interesting and very slow. She doesn't post examples on how to work problems out on the quiz reviews and I asked her to start doing it and she said "That is too much work."
Professor K is a nice lady, but a terrible prof. She goes over content with little examples. Uses alkes as a crutch for teaching. 50 min time window for 25 question tests. if you have anxiety, DONT TAKE HER. she gave us extra credit because every test average was around 60/65. she rushed the last chapters and tested over them. everyone did awful.
First off attendance is required. Its extra points. Secondly this has nothing on her part but she does have a heavy accent. Thirdly there arent any examples when lecturing on how to do the assignments, no curve either on test, hi relies too heavily on ALEXS and McGall hill before we even learn. Would not recommend. Made chem to hard to learn.
This is a class that is better to take ONLINE, this would be due to her accent mainly and online is run through pearson. If done online the pearson assignments and quizzes are super easy to do. Also the tests are straight out of the pearson online text and practice quizzes so this class is straight forward if online. The group assignment was easy.
This lady is awful. The criteria for what we needed to do on the tests changed so dramatically throughout the year that it wasn't even funny. The first test was very straightforward, study and you would get an A. However, after that test it went downhill. She is also so incredibly boring in her lecture. There are several better options at UNT.
Many of the bad reviews are unwarranted. Her lectures and ppts are helpful with lots of examples. Her exams are basically spot on with her reviews, so if you do them you'll get an A or B. As long as you do the work and study you will understand the material and get a good grade. She is very nice and cares about her students!
She goes into a lot of detail in lectures on concepts that are usually not present in exams. There was ALEKS and an online textbook with three to five assignments a week for a total of 30% of the grade. She was nice whenever I had questions, but almost everyone failed in our class. The exam averages were 71.7%, 64.4%, 62.0%, and 54.4% respectively.
She isn't nearly as bad as people make her out to be. Chemistry is hard, and you have to put in effort to pass. I wouldn't say she makes the course easy, but I definitely think there are plenty of given resources to make at least a C. She really cares, and she gives out spot-on test reviews. The final is the easiest test of them all, though.
Constant homework, almost one assignment every other day all throughout the week. Paper attendance quizzes that are required to be performed in groups of four that wont be handed to you unless youre in a group. Constantly behind other courses in content during the semester.
Please do not take her! She is too harsh on tests and quizzes. The grading is alright, but everything else is too much for a three-credit course.
Although she doesn't give any excused quizzes even with a dr note, she is a pretty fair lady and does a good job of teaching. Tests and quizzes are hard but that's chemistry. Does give about 10 extra points if you are willing to do group work.
Since I took an online course I had limited contact with the professor. She was always prompt to reply to emails though. I just read the book and took notes from the book. I never read any of her lecture notes or watched any of her videos. She gives extra credit for group study meetings. Overall I'm very neutral about this professor.
Pretty hard class. She didn't really make it clear what material we learned would be on the test. Lots of homework, make sure to stay on track with that. I barely pulled an A, her tests were difficult, study hard. If you went to her office hours after an exam and showed her your work she would give you partial credit, take advantage of that.
Dr. K is a really sweet woman, and some people give her a bad rep. Honestly, as long as you do all of your assignments and review EVERYTHING from the units you're testing on, its an easy B class. She also LOVES group work and it is mandatory to work in a group for the entire semester. Attendance is also 10-15% of your grade so show up to class.
As someone who was scared to start Chemistry, Dr. Kinyanjui made chemistry fairly easy. There are a lot of homework assignments, but the midterms are alright. Spot on reviews and attending PLTL is VERY helpful and worth extra credit! If you put in the work, it's an easy B. Make sure to attend class and fully understand the concepts! Goodluck!
Dr K is a nice lady, but man her class is HARD. She likes her groupwork and attendance is mandatory, but I would not recommend taking her if you want an A in the class. Tests are very difficult and don't reflect what's on the reviews a lot. Do all your hw and get Cs on the tests and you'll make a B easy money
Hard class
112$ for homework access (that doesn't include the textbook)? be for real. also, group projects? in an online chemistry course? god this class is irritating. she doesn't do anything herself, you can't even claim she teaches the course.
Was an alright professor. If you don't go to class and PLTL sessions just be prepared to not do too well.
Listen up- she's very nice and lenient but most of us found LEC/REC useless. She reviews few examples during class time and struggles with tech. Txtbk is McGraw Hill ($115 some CHEM 2 does NOT use it) 2 readings,1 homework weekly. PTLT sessions = 1 pt each added to final. ACS final is HARD, review by studying past 4 exams. I'd take online.
Added questions to her exams/quizzes that were not mentioned in lectures or the recommended textbook reading. Don't expect to do well in her class unless you've already taken Chem 2 before.
DO NOT take this professor. Lots of homework, unproductive lectures, unnecessarily hard designed course. Her policy is such that the lowest mid term is replaced by HALF of your final grade. You have to do all your in-person assignments in groups. She took attendance for the class that is 1.5 hours before the Chemistry Exam. Heavy Nigerian accent.
I think a lot of the reviewers here are WHINERS! Yes, chemistry is hard, its freaking chemistry, but Professor Kinyanjui is a decent professor. The only homework is ALEKS. Attendance is mandatory and there are group quizzes-ish. Can be fun or annoying depending on your partners. Tests are usually from ALEKS, recitation quizzes, or reviews.
Don't take this class if you want to avoid taking the ACS final-- take Petros instead bc writes her own finals. Dr. K is a nice person, but her class is structured to be VERY challenging. The only reason I did fine was because I took AP chemistry in high school. Be prepared for lots of ALEKS hw, confusing lecutures, and lots of groupwork.
Missed a lot of credit because the ALEKS due dates never line up with those posted in Canvas. Most lectures you are tasked with answering graded questions as a group but it's awkward because you are all sitting in a straight row in cramped seats. I always felt blindsided because you only had about 4 minutes to answer these graded questions.
She's a great professor and explains concepts well, but her class is difficult. There are attendance quizzes/group quizzes that are done each lecture for a grade. ALEKS is used for homework and can be lengthy at times. She does offer extra credit points with attending PLTL sessions, and each test includes extra credit questions which is nice.
First class I've EVER failed. She's a nice person but she is absolutely terrible at teaching. Her course structure is hard to follow, her exams have material that we did not cover in class or in homework. Her final was like 80 multiple choice questions with 5 free response if I remember correctly. Overall just avoid if possible.
For the majority of the semester the hw she assigned was due before she taught the topics So I had to self-teach myself chemistry. Every class there are attendance worksheets about what she just taught so you better understand fast. This is even on recitation days where she also gives out a packet and an online quiz due before class ends. DONT TAKE
Dr. K is a nice really person; however, a hard professor. Her class time has attendance quizzes, and during her recitations, a worksheet is given along with quizzes. She expects students to grasp the content quickly which puts students always on a time crunch. She offers PLTL which earn EC and the sessions are extremely helpful.
Lectures an
If you do decide to take Dr. K's class know that you'll need to attend every lecture. This is because she has an attendance quiz every lecture and weekly group quizzes. Besides that just stay on top of the ALEKS homework and be prepared for every exam. Since she doesn't like curving exams but she'll offer some extra credit with PLTL sessions.
Even though it sucks, prep for lecture by reading the chapter in the textbook. ALEKS is used and is definitely mandatory. Group work is utilized every class period, so be ready to compromise on some work every once in a while. I would say this class is an easy B if you do all of the assignments. Study hard to get an A.
This class was not necessarily difficult, but just a lot of work that can be hard to manage with a heavy courseload. She gived ALEKS assignments. The exams were long but she tries to prepare you for them by giving you limited time for recitaiton quizzes. This class is just a lot of material.
Dr. K is extremely kind and accommodating, I have a hard time seeing her low score on here. Other reviews on here complain about the group work and a heavy accent. The group work was much more helpful than harmful, you just have to be able to speak to 2-3 other people during class. The accent complaints are BS, she is very articulate and kind.
I took experimental chem with Dr. K. and she was one of the best I've had. She is thorough with her lectures. The class was heavy on group work, you have a daily review at the end of each class that is completed with peers. Dr. K. was very accommodating and helpful when I reached out outside of class because I was having difficulty with the exams.
She literally just told our class that we had to take exams with a mirror behind us in addition to a lockdown browser, after showing our school id and our surroundings all because she thought the grade average on our first exam was too high so she assumes people are cheating. There's also more but it only allows so much space. Overall just avoid her
Her online course isn't necessarily difficult but I feel her lectures are long are disorganized. She jumps topics frequently or seems distracted by small things. She's extremely slow to respond to emails and unclear in her responses. I learned more from watching YT videos than her lectures. The online course is workload heavy.
The class itself could be challenging if you're not a fan of science in general. Has 4 exams requiring lockdown browser and webcam. A comprehensive exam at the end of the semester.
Terrible, she expected us to learn everything outside of class and the lectures were required, she also gave minimal help for testing.
If you are an introverted student or not willing to dedicate minimum of 9+ hours of studying outside of class (her words not mine) do not enroll for this class. Theres lots of homework scattered on random days of the week with short notice (a few days) so it very easy to miss a few assignments if you are not constantly checking canvas.
One of the worst professors I've ever taken in my history of being in school. Expects you to basically know everything off the get go and be on a Ph D level as she is. Just goes over some borrowed/copyrighted slides and rushes through them at that. Avoid at all cost. Anyone is better than Sophia…
I basically taught myself the entire course because her lectures made no sense. She would say we have an assignment due at the end of class 10 minutes before class ends, then spend 5 minutes trying to upload the assignment on canvas. She is very unorganized. Her slides are often missing important information and when told that, she never fixes it.
Dr. Kinyanjui is a kind person but not a good professor. She reads slides and talks. You can barely keep up with what she is saying because she writes and does not explain. We also had an 18-page hw due the day before an exam. The exams are horrible and no matter how much you study you will not do good on them, since her teaching does NOT match.
Dr.K was kind and accommodating, HOWEVER, she is the worst professor. She makes everything 10x harder than it needs to be, no consistent due dates, always behind on content/lecture, unnecessary attendance quizzes, the reviews don't match the exam, bad at teaching, difficulty answering student questions in class, too much work.(18pg HW due b4 exam).
This is your last chance to flee, do not take this Professor! She will assign so much work! Her lectures are barely coherent and i had to teach myself the material. I left every lecture feeling dum and defeated. Proceed with caution!
Do not take this professor, she is so unorganized with all of the material and she will literally give you so much work especially during her recitation classes. She gives us a group paper to work on but then she'll give us an online quiz with 6 questions that she expects us to solve within 30 minutes. I'm surprised to even have passed with a C.
Lectures are hard to follow. Lots of homework, plus the expectations/format changed constantly. Very easy to miss an assignment. Lecture attendance is graded heavily, and there is a group assignment in almost every class. Exams are awful- none of the provided material helps prepare for them. Nice lady, but mediocre teacher. Wouldn't recommend her.
It made me question pursuing my degree in STEM. I don't understand why I am paying for this class when I must teach myself all the material to fail every test. Oh yeah, the class average for every test was between 40-50%, so I don't think that it's the students. She moves on way too fast to even comprehend what you are learning.
Very difficult to contact. She changed the group teams 5 times then expected us to keep connecting with people when we couldn't even get the basic introduction done. I had a very difficult time with my team and instead of listening, she told me not to email her about it because she will not look at it. On top of that this class is hard and annoying
Respectfully, just don't take her class, only do so if it's genuinely your last option.
She is a very hard professor but if you're willing to spend at least an hour a day doing chemistry homework then don't take it
Lectures are super boring. Never learn anything in class. Most work is done outside of class
Hardest A of my life. She gives excessive amount of homework's, 3-5pg or a canvas quiz after every lecture, does not explain well, and is always behind to where she replaced recitation with extra lecture. The class is so stressful unless you're willing to spend 10+ hrs teaching yourself. Would not recommend please avoid at ALL costs.
This is a continuation of my review below. She also does not curve exams (even thought test averages were between 40-50 every time), arguing that's it was the students fault for lack of understanding, unless you got to PLTL , only great thing out of this class was the final was worth only 15%.
She is a teacher who genuinely says you should only get 4 hours of sleep a night. On the first day of class. She expects you to perform to an very high standard, and then does not teach anywhere near clear enough to allow that to occur. Expect random quizzes all the time, long group assignments, and to use the textbook as a better teacher. Beware.
Wouldn't take this class, would literally rather go to hell.
Lectures were hard to follow, gave homework assignments weekly (sometimes twice a week), often multiple pages. Teaching style was convoluted and hard to follow; often left key things out by mistake. Exams weren't weighted much though.
I don't know where to start. 3-5pg HW twice a week, with additional canvas quizzes. In recitation there is lots of worksheet to finish. Explains slides horribly, I had to teach myself for hours to fight for my A. Tests are weighted low but the final was difficult. Overall was a pain, and made chem 2 way harder than it needed to be. Beware.
I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. She drops many grades, offers extra credit and her exams are easy. Sure, she may not be the best lecturer but she gives you so many opportunities not just to pass, but to get a good grade. Though, my only complaint is that she started giving long homework near the end of the semester.
There's a lot of criticism regarding her lectures, but honestly, if you just showed up and paid attention, you could gain most of the material. Granted, I did have to go home and teach myself a lot, but that's expected with a subject like chemistry. The tests were the worst part for me. They are taken in a testing center and are quite difficult.
I dont understand all the bad reviews, yes this course requires lots of studying outside of class but that is to be expected with a class like chemistry. She drops many grades and tests are not weighed heavily. There is a lot of HW but it is simple and is a big boost to grades, and the quizzes are all open note.
- she made up at least 66% of the class work I had across 5 classes - it took her 5 hours to fix a problem with my final the day it was due - I had to contact the board of academic integrity to get a response from her - very hard to understand her lectures - requires respondus which had difficulty working - didn't provide all formulas for tests
I have no words. For your sanity just don't take this class with her, she makes everything way harder than it should be.
She was a nice person yes, but she can't teach like at all. I went home with a headache every single day from the information trying to be understood in my head. I see lots of people saying she dropped lots of test and homework and yea she did that because everyone was pretty much failing. She honestly needs to really evaluate her teaching skills!!
