GREAT teacher, she really loves her subject. Explains thouroughly and answers any questions. Take good notes and pay attention in class, you'll be fine. Class is VERY important.
Real cool. Semi hard class but cool teacher. Go to class and study and you'll be fine. She says you need to read a lot to pass but not true. If you were to read all the material you wouldn't have time to do anything else in life
She was terrific. Great Telecourse mentor and easy to talk to. 5 stars :)
AMAZING TEACHER!! She will answer any question you have. She explains thoroughly in class and is willing to help outside of class as well. Her tests are fairly easy. Always gives back graded tests and assignments on time. I totally recommend Dr. P to students who are intrested in taking Psych and passing it!
pierroutsakos, not bad, will try to scare you off the first few days by saying it is hard, it isnt actually that bad, lectures not that exciting but atleast you know wat will be on the tests and will do well if you study alittle

All in all a great teacher! She expects a lot, but she gives a lot. Everything you need she provides, and you come out of the course feeling like you got your money's worth.
she is a great teacher makes the class interesting
Sophia was very outgoing about Pysch. and was willing to help anyone that struggled with the material outside of class. Lectures are lectures, but that material is in the test. I didn't read the text material once and reviewed over notes and did all assignments and came out with a C in a subj. that I thought was pretty tough.
You can tell she loves what she does! Shes very outgoing when it comes to lectures! SOme of her test are hard but she'll do whatever it takes you help you out!
Dr. P was a pretty good teacher, overall. Her tests are difficult and most of the material comes straight from her lectures. She enjoys what she does which makes the class a little more tolerable. If you're not a psych major you might get lost in the details.
She is a good teacher, very nice and helpful. You can tell she really loves her job! The class was very difficult though! The one thing I will never forget is that everything is multiply determined! lol
Dr. P does a great job engaging the class in active learning. Class was moderately tough, but if you do the required reading and attend class you should have no problem whatsoever as she tells you exactly what you need to know and what you dont for the tests. I highly reccommend Dr. P for intro to psych, you can tell she loves what she does.
Definately a good teacher and definately loves her job! She does he test all on her lectures don't worry I was scared at first but she's made the class fun! Big hint print out the notes from black board before the lecture that way you can REALLY listen.
She's a great teacher. Very helpful. Her tests aren't bad, but it helps if you do the reading. She explains the material, but her class is boring. Simply sitting in class helps you to do better on tests though.
I found Dr. Pierroutsakos to be an interesting instructor. What she said in class was important information and was on included on the exams. You also need to read the book to do well on her exams because she doesn't include everything in her lectures. I would recommend making use of the Supplimental Instruction which is offered.
Really nice and awesome teacher! This teacher is the reason I have a current interest in Psychology as a major. You learn a lot and she keeps the class interesting which makes you want to learn. Not hard but not a breeze either. A good amount of text book reading required, no homework except reading, and 4 test only throughout semester.
Love this class and this professor! Don't confuse this Professor Sophia with another Professor Sophia in same department. They have very different styles! Professor Sophia Pierroutsakos is very passionate about Psychology, is very energetic during her lectures, and really cares about her students. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun!
overall i liked the class atmosphere, and enjoyed professor P's ways of helping students understand the concepts.
She is particular but does care if her students do well and is willing to help students who attend class and show interest.
She's an awesome teacher, she's funny and really interesting. plus no homework.
She is beautiful. Amazing. I love here so much. passionate and lovely . incredible
Amazing teacher. She relates well to teenagers and can relate the topics of her lectures to things in the real life.
Wonderful teacher AND person who really cares about her students. So many stay after class for a good 10-20 minutes just to chat with her about Psychology. My only criticism is that she doesn't really point out specifics as to what to study for on tests, which are kind of hard. Other than that, she is wonderful.
the classes are not boring. she makes it interesting.
Very intelligent professor. You can tell by listening to her talk that she knows her business. I never needed to study much to be prepared for a test and anything that I DID need to study was in the notes.
This professor is excellent!! She is very passionnate and committed to the field of psychology. Psych is my major and I couldn't have asked for a better professor for psych 101. I recommended her to my best friend. She is very funny and helps students learn and focus on the material in unique ways! She is too cute also!!
Great teacher! She loves Psychology and it really shows in her lectures. Willing to give help outside the classroom. Not much homework besides reading. Very understanding towards the students, and that comes through in her teaching style.
Very great with lecture and full of in-class wit. I would highly recommend her as a professor.
She made the class super interesting and was caring at all times, urging me to meet with her when I had questions. She's *incredibly* intelligent and passionate about Psych. She really got me interested in pursuing it as a career myself and was helpful in helping me decide where to transfer. Also very witty!
Dr. P is the best professor I have ever had by far. She is extremely intelligent and interested in the success of her students. She makes her expectations completely clear from the very begining. She is exactly the kind of teacher I hope to be one day and she helped me with choosing a new school. She makes you think about her material instead o
Took her honors course, it was hard but she is a great teacher and cares about her students. She wants you to succeed and is willing to help if you are willing to make an effort. Not a lot of homework.Recommened to serious students that care about their education. She is smart, funny, interesting, and pretty. And she teaches outside on nice days :)
The best teacher I have ever had. She is extremely well-informed but knows when to admit she doesn't have an answer. Her lectures are engaging and I find myself almost wishing class went on longer.
I LOVED Dr. Pierroutsakos. Her class (at least her honors section) was incredibly hard (studied my butt off for that "A-"). If you're willing to work for it, the "A" is attainable. Just make sure to ask good questions and for help when you need it.
Dr.P is definitely the best professor I've ever had. I honestly had no interest in psych before attending her class but she makes it extremely interesting! She's passionate and caring about the subject and truly cares about her student's success! She's very helpful with any questions or anything you need! Absolutely LOVED this class!!!
Great teacher!
Amazing. Could read the book not come to class and still do very well but the class is informative & exiting so you show up even though it's not mandatory. Dr. P politely handles those that would hijack with an irrelvant personal story or off topic question and quickly brings us back to relavent material. Simply the best.
She takes pride in her lectures and helps to understand the subject. Each class begins with a 1 minute of mindful meditation to focus. Her subject helps with relaxation and memory. Read the book, listen to the lectures and ace the multiple choice tests. She cares about students and their future in the world.
Dr. P is an awesome professor. I love the way she makes you "apply" the info and not just memorize it. She is smart and witty and I wish I had to take another course from her. I got an A and yes, I had to study, but she makes it so much fun! Love her!!!
Dr Pierroutsakos is an excellent professor! You actually learn during class time, and the lectures help you apply the info that the book teaches. I loved coming to this class. Dr. P also knows how to keep the class on track and makes good use of class time. I highly recommend this teacher!!
Dr. P is an awesome teacher! She was able to put me at ease after my first day of her class, with me having been working the last ten years prior and returning to college. Her lectures go along with the textbook and she gives you additional information in the lectures. Best teacher so far I have came across in the subject!!
Took her online gen psych class. She seemed nice. Her assignment posts included WAY too much irrelevant information. Tests are hard. She seemed overly obsessed with psych. She wrote to us like we had a degree in psych. She graded assignments quickly but got lazy at the end. I figured out how she graded-(the more you write the better grade you get).
She is an ok teacher. I was confused by alot and felt bombarded because everything was just thrown at us and she was not outspoken enough. Easy to fall asleep and fail her class.
She is a great professor!! I loved taking her and she really interested me in psychology. Use your connect access code and do the activities on there because they really help!! Her class is tough but if you study what she says and listen to her lecture you will do great!
I expressed an interest early wanting to learn more accurate info on my own terms. She to help me find topics I was interested in via the resources we had access to. She gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to work with her and learn from her. She doesn't just talk at you she gives you the tools to develop yourself if you're ready for it.
Dr. P is awesome!! One of the best professors I've ever had. She is very knowledgeable in the field of child development and makes it easy to understand. Students who are having trouble can improve their grade w/ extra credit and/or participation points. Cannot recommend Sophia enough!
Overall, Dr. P is a great professor. She's knowledgeable and direct, but she also brings her witty and fun personality. If you're not a big fan of psych, she'll make it a lot less boring (lol).
easy recommendation. Dr. P is my favorite professor I've had so far in college. Her lectures are all business but witty and funny too. I loved hearing her defend the scientific method. She inspires me to be a more thoughtful, rational person. Take her class. You'll have to work for it but an "A" is attainable!
Good teacher but the test are pretty hard.
Excellent Teacher. Honestly, the best I've had. Might just go into this field because of her.
Very smart and educated teacher, shows a real passion for the subject matter; if you really enjoy Psychology, you'll love her. Tests were super tough, reading and notes were always long. I don't suggest taking this professor for first semester slackers because you HAVE to take the info from her lectures AND from the book to survive the tests.

The best STLCC has to offer. She brings to the classroom a true expertise in developmental psychology that you typically only find at a top notch university. She's very clear, makes things relatable, and will do everything she can to help you succeed if you want it.
Dr P., is that cool inspirational professor that movies always depict. She will meet with you when your grade starts slipping and ease in some life mentoring. TAKE HER CLASS you wont regret it. She's into incorporating life lessons into her lectures which makes it hard to pass tests without reading the text.
I loved everyday I was in her class. Her lectures are easy to follow and interesting. Im going to miss this class next semester.
tons of participation points very smart and kind of intimidating took a hybrid course so it was hard to stay focused READ THE CHAPTERS AND STUDY treats you like an adult and expects adult behavior easy class if you put in the work super nice and always there to help.
Dr. P is a great teacher, I had her for Gen Psych and now Child Psych. She's really passionate and is amazing at verbalization her thoughts during lecture. I would recommend her, if you want a challenge where you feel smart at the end of class. Take her, and if you do take her seriously. She doesn't mess around. But it is WORTH IT!
Dr. P is amazing! She is passionate about her work and will change the way you look at psych and the world. She knows her stuff and her lectures actually keep your attention! Biggest bonus she uses an older version of the text book so you can get it online for next to nothing!
"Dr P" as she is known on campus is one of THE professors to take at Meramec. Her lectures are fascinating and her knowledge base is incredible. She likes tough questions and explains research with more clarity than any professor I've ever taken. She doesn't give out easy As but you WILL learn in her classes provided you are willing to show up.
She gives outlines for what will be on her tests, is very communicative on blackboard, loves what she teaches but one thing that makes her stand out is her lectures! Listening to her lectures are like watching a movie, she makes them relatable & interesting which help you really comprehend the material. Definitely my favorite teacher this semester.
Love her classes, will be taking her again next semester for child development psychology.
Dr. Pierroutsakos is amazing! She loves her work and you can tell by her lectures. Going to class and taking notes are essential and so is the textbook. Her class is enjoyable, and she takes great pride in her teachings.
Great professor loved her class
I took Dr. P's online class for child psychology, so I missed out on the lectures, but it was an easy online course. It was very evenly paced and the material is not too hard to grasp. You just have to read a chapter every week and then do a write up on a topic decided on by Dr P and take a short 20 question test.
I love Dr. P. I had her for Gen pysch, and currently in her child psych. I love everything about her and every way she teaches class. I recommend her to EVERYONE. I promise you, she will brighten you're day. She's pretty easy on the eyes too.
Best teacher by far in the Psychology department. You can tell she loves what she does, and lets people know what her favorite parts of psychology are. She makes the lectures exciting and actually tells you when some information will be a little boring. Her test are somewhat easy and she doesn't give much homework.
Dr. P is an amazing professor who is very passionate about what she teaches and she really cares her students. Her lectures are usually really interesting and often times inspirational. The tests in gen psych aren't that hard if you keep up with the reading and notes. I also took her for child psych and the tests are a bit harder in that class.
Dr. P is a really amazing professor!
She marked her book as "optional" when I searched my books for my upcoming classes (before school started). I opted out of buying the book because it was very expensive. When the class officially opened she clarified that the book wasn't optional, only the edition. She then wouldn't allow extra time on homework, for our books to arrive.
Lectures were interesting. Four tests and four discussion boards due, (in other words, if you bomb one thing, you have to work to get it up). Dr. P is a good teacher- sassy at times- but entertaining and knowledgable. The "final exam" was free 20 bonus points for showing up and reflecting. Attend all classes for 10 extra credit points.
Dr. P is absolutely amazing. I took her gen psych class and even though I didn't need the credit, I took her child psych class just because of her teaching. She truly loves child psych and you can feel it in the way she lectures. I loved her classes and would recommend them to anyone. She grades fair, you NEED to read the book and participate.
A fantastic resource and educator! Dr. P has a deep personal commitment to her students and its hows in her dedication to their individual development and potential. She helped me produce one of the best papers I've ever written and her willingness to share her own personal vulnerabilities and challenges is critical in a psych class.
I ended up taking Dr.P's class after dropping the class with another prof. the semester before and it was the best choice! She not only knows her stuff she has a way of explaining it to so it is relatable and memorable! So much easier to remember a concept for an exam when you remember how it's connected to your life! If you need PSY take her class
Wonderful professor, very kind and unbelievably patient. Lectures are top notch and tries to present information to how you can better yourself in the real world. Great class despite only taking it for the credit.
Excellent teacher!!! Extremely knowledgeable in the field of psychology and manages to make difficult concepts easily relatable by using real-life situations that they pertain to. Tough but more than fair. I HIGHLY recommend her for any and all psych classes that she teaches!
This is the worst professor I have ever had in my life. Don't get me wrong she is funny sometimes but please choose another professor because her exams are are extremely hard! I dont think she cares that students who actually liked her class like me ended up being forced to drop out than stay and get an F YET I have all As in other classes !
RUN!!! She is not good her test dont make sense and you are graded by test and blackboard writing assignments.
This was my first lecture classes. It was hard to follow along because there would times that she would read off a paper too fast and then say I just gave you 5 test questions . I was a students that attend SI sessions and did the quizlit. I also changed the way I study and nothing seems to help because I constantly got Ds on the test.
Dr P, as she is affectionately known is one of the best professors at STLCC. Those complaining about her are mostly people who want an easy ride through college. Dr P, holds her students to high standards because she's preparing them to be well equipped for university. Take good notes, read your textbook, study & you'll pass! She's very funny too
Dr. P is the best professor I've ever had! She adds a lot of personality to her lectures and genuinely wants to help students. You can't cut corners; if you want a good grade, you have to read the textbook. PS: CrashCourse on youtube has awesome videos over each of the chapters and were LIFESAVERS when it came to studying for the tests!
8 week class. Each week you would: read 70-100 pages in the textbook, a discussion board, a 60 question test, and a 600 word paper. The tests are very difficult and the papers are specific and difficult to write. She wouldnt post the assignments on time, you could not work ahead, and there were no lessons from the teacher. Too much work and stress
It was a hard class for me. Idk why but she was okay. I dont think she is the best teacher ever but it is what it is. There is not much to grade on just 4 one page papers and the 50 question tests. No extra credit. No late papers. Papers are 20 points. Make sure you read what will be discussed before that class period it will help.
I took the 8 wk online class. It moves fast because its an short course but Dr. P did a wonderful job of making sure you got the important points from each section. It would have been great if other people would have participated more meaningfully in discussion boards but she cant control that. Got more out of the class than any other online!
I had Dr. P many many years ago and I still remember so many things she taught us. I would love to have her again as a professor. She genuinely cares about students and grades fairly.
Dr. P is a wonderful teacher and cares deeply about her students and to see them succeed. Reading is essential to do well in her class but as long as you listen to her lectures, take notes on what she discusses in class you should do fine. Her classes are not easy, but if you are ready to learn and apply yourself you will enjoy her classes.
Her lectures are good and very engaging. But when it was test time I didn't really understand what the test was about. I would study and read the chapters, sometimes even twice. I tried my every best to study and I did everything I know to do. I even took her advice and study when our classroom was empty. I still could not get above a C
would not recommend if you don't like to read. talks too much
Really engages with her class. Would definitely recommend. Lectures are important
Dr. P is an amazing professor... With saying that, she gets distracted a lot from her lecture & will cut you short of information. She will still put it on the test regardless if she got to it or not. So, READ! I had to read my brains out to get an A. She gives some extra credit during my semester(she said it was rare when she did this).
Ive noticed on here people typically love or hate Dr. Ps classes. You will love the class if you are driven and do the work. An A in her class is very very reasonable. Study class notes, skim through the chapter, full out chapter guides, and do homework. This is a college level psychology class so its definitely not a blow off class.
She was awful. She talks so much one of the people next to me fell asleep. Would not recommend taking this class. I only did it for the credit
She is hands down the best professor at Meramec. She clearly loves her profession and is extremely knowledgeable and professional.
Dr Ps lectures even though we had to go online after midterm have been the best! By far the best prof I have during this Covid19 crazy business. She answers questions, tries to do anything she can to help, and doesnt make you feel bad for having a hard time. Ive learned so much.
Dr. P totally showed up when coronavirus hit and our class went online! She gave her lectures from her house at the regular class time & recorded them for people who couldnt be there. She adjusted lots of things as we needed to help us do our best. Loved the class before midterms but after you really saw how much she cares and will do so much
You can tell that Dr. P loves what she does and that she puts a great deal of effort into everything she does. She never leaves her students second guessing. You always know whats going on.
Dr. P is an amazing professor. I have taken her now for 2 different courses at STLCC - Meramec, in person and this one was online due to COVID-19. She is very straight forward with what you need to pass her class. You do need to read the book and the chapters assigned, but other than that it is easy! If you don't read the book, you'll struggle.
Psychology is the subject that I am best at, in english I would get A's in papers and in my other psychology classes I also got A's on papers. But with her she graded my papers so toughly.. The tests aren't hard because it's multiple choice so she can't be hard on you with that. But dont take this class, you should pick a different professor.
You have a 60 question test and 600-word paper every two weeks, both worth 30 points. You have to read the book. Questions on the test are directly related to book material and fairly straightforward. You have an opportunity for 30 extra credit points as a paper at the end of the semester if you need it. Not too hard and responsive to email.
Dr. P uses a free website instead of using a textbook, so theres no need to buy a textbook. There are a lot of quizzes and papers, so be prepared to understand the material. There are tests, but they are pretty straight forward.
She posts really clear and easy to follow directions and lectures. You have a discussion board w/ 2 replies, a writing assignment, and a test every unit. You are given about 2 week to finish the work for each unit, which is more than enough time. There is an extra credit opportunity towards the end of the semester. Great professor!
Dr. P is one of if not the best professor I have ever had. She is extremely passionate about the information she teaches and even more passionate about helping students. She is almost always one email away and the only things she expects in return for her efforts is respect and a willingness to put in your own effort. I highly recommend her courses
She kept adding assignments that were not in the syllabus and just was very hard to deal with. not approachable and made me hate the class & subject.
I had this class LVL with Dr. P. She is a very inspirational and intelligent women. However, I think online takes away from her teaching style. The lectures seemed prolonged and the activities were not the same as they would have been in class. If you are taking a class with Dr. P, I recommend it is in person.
It's been a few years, but Dr. Pierroutsakos is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. She's passionate about the material and teaching, accessible outside of class, takes time to give thoughtful feedback, and keeps up to date with new research. Only take her classes if you really want to work for your grade, but it will be worth it.
Very intelligent and respected by everyone, genuinely cares about her students. She is the sole reason I decided to pursue psychology!
Passionate about the psychology. Personable but she doesn't tolerate late work. You get one slip for one late assignment and that's it. She's pretty adamant on late work being your inability to get things done in a timely manner. However, she's a great person and is willing to help in any way possible even with things outside of class.
She really cares about the subject and the students. No late work accepted (one time policy and there's a slip you have to turn in for it). If you're having trouble with the class she encourages you to reach out to her, and I recommend it. There's a lot of homework, but it's all pretty easy to do and helps to learn the material before the tests.
This professor is relatively nice but she's really sassy if you ask certain questions. She also goes really fast so a lot of the stuff she talks about gets lost in what she's saying. Her lectures are boring and long. A lot of her class is doing reading.
I loved this professor, not too sure why others would disagree or say she's “sassy” lol. Her lectures were insightful and I always left class learning something new. Her tests were easy, I got an A and only ever read the summary's at the end of each chapter and she gives out chapter reviews so you know exactly what to study. She also gave out EC!
Fantastic professor! I had her for PSY 200 as well as 205. As long as you read the textbook, are engaged in lectures, and take notes, you'll love the class! Dr. P was also funny and understanding.
