Best teacher she gives clarity and makes sure you understands. to me the test are easy but if you haven't studied really hard difficult. In all she trys to give you help. the calculations are the easy part just knowing it is up to you the written part.

Professor was very clear and helpful. It is definitely not an easy A but if you do your homework and listen to her you shouldn't have a problem.

She is a very fair Professor. Her teaching manner is clear, concise, and thorough. If you study, do all the reading, ask questions and participate, you will fair well in her course. I highly recommend her to all!

I had her over the summer thought this class would be easy just like stats. thought it was calculationg.Lol not, it's work make sure ur in class unless its and emergency. She's a cool teacher and understanding. Read the Text and listen and you'll do fine

this class has so much work involved. i took her 4 stats, which also had a lot of work but this class is worse. BUT she is fair, helpful, willing to stay late to make sure you are good with the material. if you are lazy, don't take her class but if you attend & participate, you are good. highly recommend for ALL her classes (i took 3 so far)

She is a great teacher. You have to do the work but she is willing to work with you every step of the way.

Wonderful professor. I learned so much from her. She makes you work, but your work isn't for nothing it will pay off. Thank you Prof. Had two papers, two Exams which you mainly only need the text book to study from. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Sophie Barrett (someone else rated her under S Barette - wrong spelling, same person) is a good person. She is good with getting you to see some of the more difficult concepts either with her explanation or by asking others in the class to share their understanding. either way you will leave the class all right

Sophie Barrett is very down 2 earth...she WILL help u with any auestions about Psy or d real world...she makes herself available...i had her 4 psy: applied stats over d summer...d 1st exam was tuff 4 alot of us but only b/c d exam was not what was expected...it seemed like d exam had trick questions...d other exams dat came after were alot more fai

This class is an easy A. NEUROPSYCH is much easier than Neuroscience. she is helpful and LENIENT...bring chocolate and you are good to go... EASY A!

Don't take anybody else except for Sophie for experimental. She makes the material easy to learn and spaces it out so you don't get too overwhelmed. Also she will let you do extra credit work to catch up if you're falling behind. I would highly recommend her. SHE'S VERY FAIR!!!

Sophie is very nice, but demanding. She gives tons of homework which include readings and computations which can be overwhelming in a summer course. Pay attention, she'll repeat things and clarify happily if you don't understand something. You are expected to memorize formulas with all types of greek symbols, too. Intense, but not impossible.

She is very nice, very smart, very good at giving lectures, but she and the TAs depend way too much on technology (clickers, powerpoints, online homework, etc) they waste a lot of time and make simple math complicated. But yea she's really nice. Though she will call you out if you fall asleep in class!

Took her during spring 10 semester and I find her absolutely awesome. She's an easy A. Just pay attention to the material she is teaching and if you want read the chapters she assigns. Must do homework and projects they help to understand the material better. Overall Sophie is great. Her exams and quizzes are straight from the lesson she taught. If you don't pay any attention and don't go to class then obviously you'll fail. She's very understanding and helpful. I recommend her. :)

I felt that we crunched every lesson day by day, and I didn't feel the connetion between the material while it was being taught. While Barrett is a good professor in some aspects, she relies way too much on the textbook's powerpoints to teach; I would have liked to see some of her own work being taught. She's nice, but could teach better.

She is a very intelligent professor. The only problem is that she relies to heavily on power points and i feel like buying the book was so pointless since she taught from the pages anyhow so DONT BUY THE BOOK!!! anywho, the homeworks online were hard but the tests are easy..just show up and study notes EASY A great curve in grades

She is one the best professors I've ever had at CCNY. I've heard Stats would be difficult but she makes the course very easy and she's always making sure the class understands the material; plus she's super nice and cheery. Just do all the Aplia HW and study for the exams and you'll get an A

Professor Barrett was very helpful & understanding. Makes all of her power points available online. Provides a review for all of her exams and tutoring sessions which count as extra credit. The class is not easy but if you read the textbook & go to class you will definitely understand the material a lot better. Guaranteeing yourself an A.

One of the best professors in the psych department, a great advisor too. The class requires a lot of work, quizzes every lecture, 4 exams but drops lowest, long homework. If you go to class and read the book, you'll get an A.

She's honestly a wonderful professor. The class itself can be very tricky (especially for people like me who aren't math oriented) but she really does her best to provide lots of resources for you to understand. I struggled at first and ended up with As on my tests thanks to her help. Take her for sure!

I am failing her class because i need to learn how to take test but she is absolutely amazing. !!! I would take her again. To learn statistics you need to take this professor, she is awesome. Very dedicated and her class has peer coaches.

Professor Barrett is a fair person. She posts exam review problems that gives you a sense of the exam format. You get to drop the lowest exam grade out of 4 exams and her notes are clear. The only things I wished for her are to make herself more available outside of classes and open up more office hours.

The material taught in class can be a bit overwhelming at first however, attending all of her lectures, speaking to her after class, and reading the textbook was helpful. Sophie is a brilliant and knowledgeable woman, I was fortunate to have taken statistics with her!

Sophie is laid back but firm! She will make sure you understand the material but if you want to succeed, go the extra mile and actually read the chapter. She explains everything extremely well. Try to sit near the front; her classes can get really big and you don't want to get lost in the sauce. She made statistics non-intimidating.

Quizzes every week (MC questions), 4 Exams throughout the semester and 1 final. Drop lowest exam and quiz and hw. Read before class helps a lot. She is a very engaging and inspirational professor and willing to help. Study the review sheets, similar questions will be on the exams. Easy class if you put in effort.

Sophia Barrett is a great professor, she explains everything, if you listen to her during lecture and take good notes you won't need the textbook. She gives a quiz and homework assignment every week and drops the two lowest quiz grades and the lowest HW grade. You will get a total of 4 exams the lowest is dropped and a final.

very Great professor! she is very personal and familiar with her students. If you need help she is very open to helping you in whatever way possible. She does tend to speak fast and breeze through material but what ever you don't understand she is open to explaining. The course is tuff material in general but with effort i'm sure you will pass!

Great professor, great person.I took her in summer 2017. She made the class fun and interesting.

Every week there is a quiz and HW due. There are 4 tests, one is dropped. Sophie is an amazing teacher, helps you understand very easily. Overall, the class information is not difficult to understand but your test grades depend on your recitation/workshop leader. Mine was picky grader. Does give extra credit if you go to tutoring.

Best STATS professor! She cares about her students a lot and has so many resources! She has tutors who help all throughout the week so please take advantage!! It is the best thing ever (it's extra credit). She makes you work for her grade. Of course the exams are "hard" but she makes sure everyone knows every single little thing to pass! the best!!

if you dont go to class you wont pass and she takes attendance. she is actually really nice. the third exam is the hardest. 4 exams and she may or may not drop your lowest(she said this). quizzes every week on reading and lecture. hw every week and be prepared to buy the online course for textbook and hw. she gives extra credit for going to tutor

Amazing professor!!! She goes out of her way to help people and get them to understand the material. She makes stats fun and interesting. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities with exams as well by simply going to tutoring. Must take!!!

Great professor with a good sense of humor. She really makes the subjects easy and fun. Just skim the textbook, do the homework, do the review sheet before the exam, you will ace the class.

Professor Barrett is one of my favorite professors for psychology at ccny. She made learning stats really easy and enjoyable. As long as you do the hw problems you'll be prepared for her exams.

Summer session. 2/3 exams. She prepares you for them. One final research paper. We worked on a section in class every week until it was completed.

Sophia is a great professor. She explains stats in a clear (but fast) way. If you're getting lost during the lesson, there are students circulating the classroom to lend assistance. There is homework weekly and 4 exams (the lowest exam grade is dropped). It is a lot of work, but as long as you practice, you will be fine.

Barrett is a wonderful professor, she explains each chapter fast but clearly, & if you don't understand there are tutors during and after class. You are graded by 4 exams, hw twice a week, SPSS labs, & attendance. You must put in the work & effort for this class, but with practice, hard work, & studying, you can get an A.

She actually made stats fun! Her lectures were clear and I learned the material well. We did plenty of exercises so by the time the tests rolled by I felt well prepared. She explained the concepts well so it was easy to apply the theory to the problems. Definitely recommend!

I worked as a Tutor for Professor Barrett, She's incredible and one of the hidden Gems of CCNY. She makes sure everyone is doing their best, and cares about students and Tutors alike. It was the best, funniest experience! Would Recommend 100% Just Do your work and ask for help when you need. She is always there for you! <3

Professor Barrett is amazing. I learned a lot even it was my first time taking Stats. She is very knowledgeable and never minds to repeat many times if you do not get it. She is very motivational and inspired me to get more knowledge about stats. It is a class that you are going to learn a lot, and not just pass the class. I'm very grateful!

She is a great professor overall, very fair. Of course, attend all lectures, take notes, and most importantly participate. She doesn't really answer emails so its best to email the TA's throughout the semester. The final is difficult and brought my grade down. Only blog post, midterm, final, and #50days are counted towards grade.

Prof Barrett gives a lot of work, but it helps you practice for the exams. She posts her own videos that you can use instead of reading the chapters. The TA's can be super helpful when you're confused, so make sure to ask them questions. Prof answers any questions you have. May seem intimidating at first, but she is very thorough and caring.

You need to put in the effort to study and do the hws, labs and exams, if you do you'll pass. We're given review sheets and tutors for extra help, even the textbook is free. The one thing I hated is using R studio, I hate it with a passion!!

Professor Sophia is a really great professor. I was really nervous going into this class, but her lecture videos gave me confidence. This was her first winter session and even though it was ALOT of work in 3 weeks it was doable. Definitely recommend taking her !

Stats is a tough class but Sophia made it easier. There's lengthy lectures, 2 hw assignments & one lab due a week. But it's all necessary to excel and if you do the hw, listen, ask questions, go to tutoring if needed, & study then you'll do fine! Shes tough on us so we can body the exams and her method works. She cares & gives resources (TA;tutors)

Professor Barrett is great! The workload is heavy but doable. She's great at explaining the concepts in a clear way for her students. Provides extra credit opportunities and will always explain concepts for students who need them. She makes class entertaining by cracking jokes and engaging students in conversation, even online!

Prof Barrett is a great professor who makes lectures fun. Stats overall is a heavy course and she makes it fun although there is a lot of work. She starts off in the morning chatting which makes everyone be in a happier mood. For the other person with the rating on March 16,2021: don't forget that stats is a lot. learn to manage your time.

Stats is a hard class with all the numbers but Professor Barrett makes it easier with her explanations. She does change the requirements on the assignments but she has a valid reason for it. For example, she wants some assignments to be done by hand because students were using excel. Obviously, it is easier to get the material by writing it.

She provides the textbook free of cost and also gives videos for each chapter that we must watch before class, during class time we review the concepts. The homework is lengthy but that is expected in college. The exams are easy. Four exams and one final. Put in the work and you will do great!

Professor Barrett was one of the best professors I have ever met. It is true that there is a lot of workloads and she gives lengthy homework. But, if you work for it, do everything on time, and actually understand the homework, you will definitely pass this class with an A. It was very easy to reach her outside the class.

Seriously the best Prof at ccny. She is FANTASTIC. If you read the darn textbook, do the homework, and ASK QUESTIONS, SHE WILL LOVE YOU. Anyone who rates under a 4, actually under a 5, is a TROLL who DOESNT WANNA WORK FOR THEIR GRADE. They come to college so they can get an easy A without reading or doing their homework. Take Prof Barrett, she is fantastic. Do the homework and read/skim the textbook. ASK QUESTIONS!

Pretty decent Professor. Class has a lab component for coding with 6 hw worth 20%. 4 exams (one gets dropped) worth 40% plus a final worth 20%. About 15 regular LONGG hw's worth 20%. I was only bothered that we had to watch recorded lectures before class only to do practice problems in class. Lots of material to remember and easy access to help.

This class made me WORK for my grade but doable if u read the textbook and take notes. Her exams were literally questions we do in class and hw, just different numbers. So many ppl used the class slack to cry about the work instead of getting help. She gives extra credit, drops lowest exam, has tutors, and makes video alternatives to the textbook.

Professor Barrett is amazing! This class requires work. If you are someone who never misses a deadline and is very on top of learning criteria, this class is for you! She would post all lecture slides and her TA's were always ready to answer our questions. Overall, Barrett is very passionate and very on top of it all. Weekly labs, weekly homeworks.

Sophie is a gem of a professor; she is highly knowledgeable about the material. She goes out of her way to provide tutors and allows for a cheat sheet for exams. The class can be challenging; however, you'll do great if you use the resources provided. Overall, she is hilarious and a fantastic lecturer. It was a pleasure being in her class!

Professor Barrett genuinely cares, and class has a great culture. She doesn't sugarcoat that there's a lot of work to do but she's there for you the whole way and breaks things into manageable chunks. I found the exams somewhat difficult, but the paper was very scaffolded and manageable which ended up determining most of our grade. She's good.

Prof Barrett's the kind of professor who makes you want to show up and try your best. Super passionate, genuinely cares, and her lectures actually make things click. Yeah, the class is real tough, but it's the good kind of tough—totally worth the effort. I've learned a lot and honestly love being in her class.
