Probably the one of the best if not the best chem 4 teachers you can possible take at elco.She Gives you printed out notes before every chapter lecture, makes everything crystal clear for students to understand and helps students when they need it. Dr. Potter is dope I highly recommend her!

Potter is an amazing teacher. She goes over every section very thoroughly and does her best so that her students can all succeed. I'm bummed out she was replaced with a sub this semester bc she's having a baby. =) But for those of you taking chem 4 or 1a next semester, take her!! you will WANT to work hard and you'll be well prepared for the future

She is the easiest teacher in the department. Tests and quizes are very very easy. Lecture is interesting and she grades easy on labs.

The second best professor I have even had(The best is Prieto in Physics).She is casual. Sometimes, I ask her something not in lecture, and she will also answer. The exams are too easy. Study the notes and get high A. Her lecture is well organized(a little bit away from perfect note). When she see the average is low, she offer e/c to help. Very nice

She is definitely a VERY tough teacher, she likes to challenge her students with critical questions. Do the suggested hwk!! She has a rep of being one of the toughest but thorough professors at ecc. STUDY, and if you're expecting an "A".. don't expect it!

She is very clear about the teaching material and she is definitely very PROFESSIONAL . The test is little bit tricky but it is okay if you are careful enough. I enjoy the class And I get an A.

I took Dr. Potter because a friend of mine highly recommended her. I didn't regret that decision and now I'm here recommending her. Potter's lectures are very clear and organized. Review suggested homework and Mastering Chem in order to prepare for her killer tests/quizzes. Her class may not be the best for your GPA, but you take classes to learn.

I really enjoyed her teaching style. She was clear, organized and I would always ask questions during her office hours. Her tests are very hard though. You need to do all the suggested HW, review labs, and lectures to do well on the tests. I was always studying for her class, but it make Chem 1B easy after taking her 1A.

I loved Dr P. She is very clear in what she expects. If you're dumb don't take her because you probably won't pass. She is super helpful and easy to talk to and readily available. She is wayyyyy too nice. I did some stupid things during lab and she was nothing but patient. The quizzes are mostly math based, while the tests include more concepts.

Dr.Potter is very helpful and very good at lecturing. I am sure you will get materials very thoroughly. DO problems on the handouts, make sure you understand not memorize. IF YOU DONT GET ANYTHING, ASK HER IN CLASSES OR OFFICE HOURS BECAUSE YOU WILL PROBABLY SEE THEM AGAIN IN YOUR TESTS. It happened to me all the time. HAVE FUN.

Took her chem 4 during the summer, which was very brutal considering we had to go 4 days out of the week for 6 hours. She explains the material very well and I got an A because I deserved it from the amount of studying I did. She's hard but she prepares you. She tests everything from the lecture notes and some concepts from the lab.

Love her!! I can't say enough about Dr. Potter, is a great professor. Sure her class is not easy, but if you're willing to work for your A you can bet she will be there to help you every step of the way. She is so passionate about chemistry and teaching. Lectures are crystal clear. Exams REALLY asses your understanding and not simply memorization.

Very sweet and helpful Professor, she'll try to work around your schedule if her current office hours conflict with your availability. Can be a little blunt at times. Her tests a very difficult I had such a hard time keeping up in this class I had to drop. However I think I am well prepared for taking it again next semester with a different prof!

I just took Chem 4 with Dr. Potter and she was amazing, I'm taking Chem 1A next semester with her as well . Do all of the suggested hw and you will get the grade you work for. She's always there to help in office hours which helps a lot. Ask a lot of questions, she loves it!

Dr Potter's lectures are very detailed and in depth. She encourages her students to ask questions and she's willing to stay for office hours to help her students with concepts they don't understand. She's very helpful but her tests are hard. The key to passing her test is to really UNDERSTAND and APPLY the concept properly.

I am recently taking her boot camp for chemistry 4 during the summer. It is for students to get a 12 hour advance review of chemistry for the fall. I can already tell she is a really really good teacher! She is so specific and detailed with her lectures and really passionate about chemistry! I would have loved to take Chem 4 with her for the fall!

This lady is not a joke. If you plan on taking her, especially for Chem 1B, be prepared to not only study but understand concepts in great detail. Every problem on her exams is an assessment of your understanding of the material. She will also test you on the labs during an exam and her quizzes are pretty tough, as well. INCREDIBLE professor. If all chemistry professors could be as detailed and prepared as she is, more people would be into chem. Her teachings get you ready to enter any science related field and her chem knowledge is outstanding. For summer, she had printed notes for us so that we would not rush to write everything and could really grasp the info.

Dr. potter is not for everyone but make no mistake, she is an amazing professor. Be prepared to work your butt off and UNDERSTAND the material. Don't get intimidated to go to her for help and ask questions. She is very encouraging and helpful. She truly cares about her students and their success.

Dr. Potter's lectures are thorough, clear, and organized. She grades pretty hard because she knows what we need to know in order to master the material so it's really all on whether or not you study enough. She's very helpful but she doesn't offer much EC unless she notices the majority of the class needs it. I plan on taking her for Chem1A and B!

Amazing, amazing, and amazing. Dr. potter is loved by all her students. Through lectures. Cares about her students and shows great interest in what she teaches. She made me love chemistry. You have to work for the A, but you will definitely learn many things out of her class. Very recommended.

An amazing professor but not for the faint of heart, you need to work hard to earn it. She is very caring toward her students, will answer any questions related to the materials. Tests are tough but does give partial credit, weekly quizzes, do well on lab bc it will help your grade. Also, ask her if things are not making sense.

She's pretty great at teaching, but I don't recommend her if you don't have a strong chemistry background or a great work ethic. Tests are super difficult. Get ready to understand the concepts. You won't do well if you just try to memorize everything, and how to do the problems. Labs and MC are easy points!

Took her first-ever winter session class. The schedule was a bit tight and fast-paced towards the end, but it was still a great class overall. I learned so much during those five weeks. Her lectures were very thorough and organized. The labs were very interesting. As long as you do the suggested hw, the exams are a piece of cake.

Dr. Potter is without a doubt the single greatest professor I've had in El Camino. Her lectures are phenomenal, her experience in the field is second to none, and she cares so much for her students. Exams are beyond difficult, but that's a good thing. She really wants you to be prepared for university and I'm so thankful to have been in her class.

After taking Dr. Potter for an entire year, I can safely say that she is, and will continue to be one of the top if not the best chemistry professor in the entire department. Promotes asking questions in class and is incredibly helpful in office hours. Make no mistake, she is difficult, but really rewards her students at the end with an easy final.

The class was good. I took it during fall and I admired her teaching style. Just live any other STEM class, you shouldn't slack otherwise you'll be left behind in the dust. Make sure to do the suggested homework, as it will be a way of studying for the exams. The final was quite easy. I recommend her as a Chem teacher to take.

I took Dr. Potter's class for Chem 4 over the winter. Although the class was not easy, I think she is a fantastic professor and I really learned to love chemistry by taking her class. I am currently in her class for Chem 1A and I could not have asked for a better chemistry professor!

If you plan to finish the Chem series at El Camino, Potter is probably the best prof. to take as the other option, Altermaat fills his class rather quickly. Her class takes a ton of effort to succeed in. The test average for the first few tests was 64%. And I still recommend her over the other options. She is certainly a nice and fair teacher.

Contrary to what previous comments have said about her, shes actually very good at teaching and explaining the concepts & is a very fair/generous grader. Her exams are challenging, but she gives points back if she thinks a question was unfair, and the final is a nice break. Genuinely cares about her students, just put in the work and youll be ok

Do the suggested hw and ask for clarification during lecture or office hours and youll get the grade you deserve. Very generous with partial credit on exams if youre able to show you understand the concepts. Not a harsh grader but look over your labs before turning them in. Very easy final exam. Made winter session enjoyable and interesting.

I took Potter for chem in the winter 2020 and it was way easier than I imagined! She hands out notes that are already printed out for your convenience and she has you fill in extra notes and do practice in it! There's some element of memorization in it but the exams are VERY straight forward. She's the most helpful in labs too!

If you put a lot of effort in her class, ask questions, and participate, she will work just as hard to help you to understand the complex sections covered. It is a heavy class, but you'll be well prepared for the subsequent course. Easiest and most rewarding decision is to take her class.

She's so kind and intelligent! I honestly don't understand how some ppl can have a negative view of her. She has excellent lectures, encourages questions, gives OPTIONAL homework, provides several resources to those who are struggling, AND gives you feedback on your weak points so you can improve. The tests are challenging, but it's Chem after all

Dr. Potter is an amazing teacher!! She's very kind, smart, and understanding. After the switch to online class, she really put in the effort to help us succeed in class. There are lecture videos, online resources, practice problems, and extra credit ;) Everything was easy to understand, you'll get high scores if you put in the effort to study.

I'm so thankful I took Dr. Potter this past semester. You have to work hard, but she is very reasonable. After the online transition due to COVID, she reached out to make sure everyone was still well. She is understanding and approachable, and although her tests and quizzes are hard sometimes, the final wasn't so bad. She also curves grades :)

Here's the tea: I'm awful at chemistry, but still got an A in this class. At the same time, I cried while taking every test. Dr. Potter is amazing and recognizes that chem 4 isn't easy. The class is tough but if you put in the work and go to office hours, it'll pay off. It's refreshing to have a professor who is so passionate about their subject.

This class made me fall in love with chem. Prof. Potter is so sweet and is always willing to help outside of class or even during labs. Tests are the main determining factor of your grade in this class, so study! There are a lot of lecture videos, but she outlines what you should do every day. Dr. Potter is by far the best gen/intro chem teacher at Elco. She is very reasonable, very nice, makes the material easy to understand, responds quick to emails, and is open to any questions during meetings and during office hours. Her class is not an easy A, exams are fairly difficult but not unreasonable. So do the hw, do the labs; they help.

I would highly recommend going to her office hours. If you have a question she will explain it clearly however make sure you are still studying the material because she asks questions back. I would say take her class if you really want to understand Chemistry and make sure to keep up with the content otherwise you will not get the grade you want.

She is a great teacher, but this class was very difficult. You need to make sure you can make it to class, because her assignments and tests are what make your grade. But she is REALLY nice. She's willing to help you understand the material and is always available. I cried on every single exam. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. She is very kind and sweet!

Genuinely wants her students to learn and really wants students to like chemistry as much as she does. She really wants to teach the background of the chemistry, not just straight equations, so be prepared for some history and theory. The exams are hard, but she is fair and gave extra credit quizzes to adjust for some of the difficulty.

Dr. Potter was one of the reasons why I started loving Chemistry again, she has an undeniable passion for the subject and never fails to show it to her students. I actually understood the material in Chemistry after taking her class as it's refreshing to get a professor who is so passionate about something.

Took Winter session of 2023. For such a fast paced class, Professor Potter placed a solid foundation of chemistry in the 5 weeks I had her. Definitely a difficult class, but she's always happy to offer help and support. Tests are HUGE, but she offered office hours if we ever needed it. She's very nice, and is clearly passionate about chemistry.

Dr. Potter is an amazing professor. She is incredibly passionate about her work which makes the lectures go by faster and the material easier to grasp. She gives out extra credit every so often and gives plenty of partial credit on basically everything. She even made me consider changing my major to chemistry many times throughout the semester.

I have regained confidence in chem bc of how fun Dr. Potter made it. She is one of the best prof at El Camino. All hw is optional, lowest quiz score is dropped & lowest exam is replaced by final - she's a reasonable grader. In order to pass you must attend class. Lecture content is mostly spoken rather than written so listen & take good notes.

One of the best chem professors I've had, but is a tough grader in lab though, so please beware, that was my downfall. Dr. P is a fair & fun prof, very kind & generous. Exams aren't easy, she will give partial credit even if it's wrong. She offers 1 xtra cred, drops lowest quiz, & replace lowest exam w/ final exam score (if it's higher). She cares abt students success, but it's up to u to decide ur grade. Study in advance, use the textbook, it's a great tool.

Coming from a former student of hers that has transferred. If you cannot handle her classes, you most likely won't succeed in a four-year university because her class reflects the style and difficulty of a under-division university course with even more clarity on how to do well.
