She is very realistic, hardly dull or monotone Brit/arab (i think) accent is clearly motivational 4 learning for some reason. Work is light and easy, dull part is in class essays. Very leniant towards late work, but doesn't like being taken for granted.
Very understanding. Easy to get A/B. Just go to class every day and do all the in class essays. Also, be informative on reasearch paper due at teh end of the semester
she is nice and helpful, the class will be easy if u do the work and the readings. she doesnt like it if you guys dont read the assigned reading but shes cool. do the journals and you will pass.
WOW! cAn't fInd infOrmAtivE tEachEr likE thIs!...she understandable...if we you attend the class and do the homework(journals and in class essay) then nobody could hold u bak from getting an A or B ......Hope u take this into consideration and help urself
this **** knows whassup!!! She is hella kick back. just do your journals and in-class essays and theres your A or B. u don't even have to read to pass. cuz i didn't!!!!
she' tight.
Awesome teacher. Keeps the class interesting while english is boring.
There are reflections due every week but they aren't hard and she grades pretty easy.
Highly recommend to any one taking Eng 104 in fall '05. Take it Sravani Banergee. She is the best
Great teacher. Just do your journals and essays and you can EASILY get an A or B.Highly reccomended.
HIGHLY RECOMENDED! TAKE HER SHES SO NICE AND HELPFUL UNLIKE MOST STUPID IMPOTENT TEACHERS!
She's a really nice lady.. and extremely easy.. so if you're looking for an easy A, I'd go for her.. buuuuuuut-- if you're really looking to improve your English skills, try someone else. She's a little boring, but DONT GET ME WRONG. Totally sweet.
Great english teacher...doesn't accept excuses so stay on top of our work.
It was pretty darn easy.
Mrs. Banerjee is a very good teacher. She cares about her student and is very lenient. She explains clearly and help her student to improve in their writing skills. I highly recommend her.
She is unhelpful when it comes to things she wants you to improve. She does not tell you why she grades you a certain way, she will just put "B" or "C-" on your paper with no explanation. There are pointless movies that she shows that are older than dirt. The subject is interesting, but the teacher is not. She appears to be rude. Not reccomended!
A few tips on the class - read your assigned work! Mrs. Banerjee evokes lively discussions, and she is the kind of professor who understands, and appreciates difference of opinion. Her grading is fair; the midterm and finals are discussed, and she is always ready to help!
a lot of assignments during the semester, but it is worth it in the end. an overall, sweet and understanding teacher. just make sure you come to class everyday because she takes attendance everyday!
her grading is B- or B on all your assigments and if shes in a good mood she'll give you a B+ but thats very rare. if she doesn't like you she'll give you a bad grade and it isn't easy to get her to like you. all her grading is based on her opinion and hers alone. dont question her irrational grading because what she says has to be right. AVOID!
She is a very nice lady that likes people to express themselves and participate in class. I enjoyed that she made journal entries so important, because some of them could be about whatever you wanted. It was easy, but also gave me time to improve my writing which I appreciate.
great teacher!concepts were clarified, no problem with the class.weekly journals got annoying though
MRS. BANERJEE JOURNAL IS REALLY HELPFUL BECAUSE THE ASSIGNMENT REQUIRED STUDENTS TO EXPRESS THEIR THOUGHTS ON THE READING. THE JOURNAL HELP PREPARE FOR THE FINAL. CLASS DISCUSSION WAS GREAT, TAKE ATTENDANCE EVERY DAY, AND IN CLASS ESSAYS WAS GOOD PRACTICE FOR FINAL.
she's pretty cool, i think she's gonna pass me although my essays are d's because of my grammar error.
Really nice lady. You have to do a diversity project and research project each about 6 pages. essays like every other week. She grades hard on essays but easy on journals. The final for this class bascially determines your grade and its horrifically graded. No remorse when it comes to grading but a kind hearted lady who is fun and approachable
nice teacher, but journal entry gets boring down the semester, u have to write a research paper, which i think she should give student time in class but she doesn't do that, it suck because u'r so stress about the paper, u'r stuck doing some crappy work during the research paper, but fair teacher and very very understandable, easy to talk too
she is a great teacher i highly recommend her.. she hss great teaching techniques. she is very friendly, funny, and understanding!!!
Had this teacher for 2 semesters engl 104 and 61. She is very helpful, straight forward, and fair. Her classes are interesting and the amount of work is moderate to high at times. As long as you stay on top of the reading the work will be easy.
good easy class. write journals from "one world many cultures" almost every day and a reading assignment from paragraps and essays (not nessasary to read to pass the class but very helpful in improving your writing) essays are writen every other week not including the lab and an easy research paper and thats about it. very good class for 104
Mrs. Banerjee is a wonderful teacher if you would like to improve your writing skills. Highly recommended! She is also very helpful and is willing to help her students at all times!
You have to write a journal entry for each class, you have like 4 in class essays, and only one essay that you work on for a long time. She is really a easy grader on essays, but a hard grader on journals. She is fun and easygoing, totally recommend her!
Easy to pull an A or B. Homework is easy, very helpful. Had her for every English class at EVC. Always got an A or B. Homework is easy, projects are fun. Take her...
She is an awesome teacher. Homeworks consist of reading and writing a page response. Essays are not that bad and the presentation is fun! Take her! Easy A or B!
Extremly bad.Never see before
I never see before on my life,I fell bad on this class. Reading and Responding,I got low grad.
So Hard
Mrs. Banjeree. She is a good teacher. I enjoyed her english 104 class. The homework was easy but the essay were hard. She is a fair grader. She made english 104 interesting. I learned about different cultures when i was in her class.
This professor teaches okay, but she seems not to be as helpful as i wanted.
Learned alot. Fair grader. One oral presentation & short research paper, but I bs'd it & a 30sec presentation, and I still got a B as an overall grade. I recommend this teacher for lecture and lab! Lot's of in class essay with peer reviews. Learn grammar from a book. Great professor!
this was somewhat easy. your hw every night is to read a story out of the text book and write a one page response. you write a lot of in class essays and you peer edit others. you have one research paper and a presentation which isn't that bad. i got B's on my essays and did good on my research paper and rarely did the hw and i came out with a c.
really nice. she likes working in groups. You'll have journals every night so you'll need the book na dactually read. Grades kind of weird, but not the hardest teacher i've had.
She is a very nice teacher and and the work is not bad at all. You just mostly do journals and a culture project. But you have to attend class and make sure you are on time or she will drop you.
she's great! she's very helpul and will definitely take the time to help any student. She does recure daily homework assignments, but they are not hard, just annoying. If you do the small amount of reading for the class on time, you are good to go.
Ms Banerjee is very helpful. She makes you work but is also very helpful. Stay on task and everything would be good.
She's a good instructor. She's also pretty aggressive too. If you do suck at writing, she'll tell you straight up and offer whatever to help you. Keep up with the readings, journals, her aide and you'll pass.
Very good teacher. If you really have issues with writing, she will tell you straightforward and offer you assistance to improve your writing. Sometimes funny, but most of the time very serious.
I got an A in English 1A but a C in her class. That saying much? Basically didn't like what I had to write about.
Mrs. Banerjee is a wonderful teacher. I took her for both English 1a and 1b. She has an asian lit class aswell and I enjoyed every moment of it. She is a wonderful, compassionate, understanding, and extremely nice woman. I would take her class any time.Highly recomended!!!
Summer course was not fun. Not clear on what was wrong w/ essays. Has very high expectations for people who want an A. Midway through course, she gave our grades. All Bs and below. 5 In-Class Essays & 1 Out of class. No quizzes. Journals every day (Do them all, it helps w/grading). Don't buy book if you can find the readings online.
English 1B in summer. She has a very bubbly personality and very easy to talk to and work with. She grades you on whether you actually try, which is basically what college is about. I would reccomend taking her she makes English very clear and understandable.
I LOVE HER..she is a really good instructor. She is very helpful, does not like tardiness, or absences. Definitely wants you to pass her class and lets you know how. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!
Probably my favorite English teacher. Not the easiest teacher I've had, but she's extremely approachable and helpful. I took the class over the summer and I enjoyed it immensely!
Honestly, she is one of the better teachers on campus. She does assign a lot of work, but ultimately it will help you in the long run with the department final. Great teacher! I just wish I knew about her when I was taking 1A.
Firstly: absolutley love her accent. Seriously though she is a great teacher. Literature is actually interesting. Sometimes she shows boring videos, but mostly a good class. You have assigned reading and write a one page double spaced response. She grades a little hard on those at times. There is one research paper. Really great teacher. RECOMMEND!
best teacher i have had since coming to school clear on everything has a good sense of humor, just do your work thats the whole idea right?
Great teacher with her lovely Indian accent, and full of humor. This teacher is recommend for all English classes. All you have to do is show up on time, complete your work; which helps you on the departmental final! Over all a great teacher.
1 page journal response to stories read from the book (fairly easy to get an "A" on these.) 4 in-class essays for which she prepares u pretty well but it would help if u r a good write before enrolling in the class. 2 research papers (one is shorter than normal and PowerPoint is recommended for the shorter one.) And final.
Really good teacher!
Really good teacher! Really helpful, and just make sure to do all assigned work and youll pass :)
She assigns the reading pages and gives you a handout including the due date ahead of time. You will need to write a 1 page response to reading (double spaced). Class is pretty boring but easy. She just goes over grammar. But overall, she's super nice and helpful. 2 books- 1 reading (library)(NEED), 1 Paragraph and essay booklet (NO NEED)
She is a very funny and understanding teacher. She gives students reading assigments every single night and requires a 1 page journal for each reading. To add to that, she is an incredibly hard grader. For all of my journals, I only get 2 As, and all Bs and Cs for my tests despite all of the effort. And to be real, I'm not that bad at writing.
Great teacher! She gives solid feedback on your papers. You will need to buy a book to do the assigned reading and write in your journals. You will write practice final essays that'll get you ready for the final. 1 project, Diversity project, write a paper and do a presentation. Easy.
This Professor is really great. She give you homework but its not difficult. as long as you show up for class and do your homework you will pass the class
One of the best English teachers I've ever had! I love how articulate she is, and she truly wants every one of her students to succeed. Course load isn't too bad in my opinion - couple of in class essays, one big research paper, one oral presentation, and biweekly journals, plus the standardized final. Very fair grader. Take her if you can!
Is a great teacher! She cares a lot about her students. Lots of in class essays, and presentations, but all for the good of the student!
Great teacher! She really cares about her students. Gives a lot of opportunities to make up work on assignments you didn't do well in. Lots of in class essays, two short presentations, one 8-10 page research paper on a topic of your choice. Keep up with all your assignments, go to class, and you'll pass.
So many journals, I got an A on the oral presentation AND final but missed 5 or 6 journals out of about 30, and I got a B (88%)... I wouldn't recommended her, honestly she doesn't seem to love teaching and spends class making the students do all the speaking. +there's an oral presentation each student has to do, 5-10 minutes worth 10% of your grade
Makes you do three oral presentations, and makes you write a 7-10 page research paper that is 10% of your grade. Really tough grader on essays and journals, I feel like she plays by favorite but who knows. Attendance is mandatory and makes you turn in a journal daily.
If you love reading and writing and you're willing to write almost 30 journals (journalsummary+opinion), 4 in class essays and 1 more for the final which is 5 total, 2 research papers and 3 oral presentation, then this prof will be a solid choice for you. Not me though. However, she accepts late works at least :) She's nice too.
You have to work for your grade. Shes a tough grader, but she doesnt really help you improve; you have to figure out how to by yourself. Prepare to write a lot when you take her. But her due date is reasonable. Otherwise, shes friendly
Professor Banerjee is such a sweet lady! For hw, you do these personal response journals to the short readings in the "textbook" (advice: you should do them ahead of time like I do ;) ) There are 5 in-class essays, and the topics are relatively understandable. There are 2 presentations (news update + culture). There's 1 final research paper.
She's a decent teacher and is passionate about her subject. Classes are fine, but her grading is extremely difficult. I got an A in English 1A and 1C easily, but this class made me work for it. You will have to write every assignment perfectly (do every homework with tons of effort b/c she will grade it harshly).
Super easy class. I took her 2 semesters and both times got an A without even trying. There is homework every day but it's super easy, just one-page reflection on a reading. 4 or 5 in-class essays, easy to get a good grade since shes a super easy grader. The final is just another in-class essay but graded as a final. She also wants you to improve!
Great teacher! Always gives good feedback and clearly states what her expectations are. Keep up on the reading and responses because those can make or break your grade! Put effort into the projects because those are a good chunk of your grade as well.
Professor Banerjee is amazing! She is super nice, easy to talk to and you can tell she really loves the subject. She assigns wonderful literature, and has a lot that will really make you think. Just be ready to write a lot! (Its english though, what did you expect!)
This teacher is just alright. You dont really learn anything new. For the journals that are due every class day, she asks for you to analyze, but doesnt even tell you what she expects & just asks for you to develop your response, but literally does not tell you what she wants. I honestly wouldnt take her again I havent learned anything at all
Def one of the most understanding professors who deeply cares about students. She was a bit of a tough grader and during quarantine, it was hard to get a response but she was so understanding and allowed makeups. honestly not many essays only journal and group projects. Take the class you'll get an easy B or A and make sure to show up bc mandatory
One of the best Professors I have ever had. She is caring, and you can really tell she loves what she teaches about. If you show up, do the work, you will pass. If you show actual interest in the subjects and engage in the class you will pass with flying colors. Highly Recommend Professor Banerjee for anyone, you will love her!
took it because of good ratings, most of class dropped. Was always late to lectures, not organized.
Prof. Banerjee is very kind and always gives different responses on the assignments which I appreciate. Since it was the summer semester it was pretty fast paced, but she truly gave good assignments. Take her and if you put the effort in, you will pass easily with an A.
She uses current events as her subjects for assignments to make connecting things easier. There are a lot of writing assignments.
Professor is a tough grader and most of the semester didnt even lecture it was mainly presentations like if I wouldve known she wasnt going to actually teach I wouldve chosen a different professor
tough grader rarely gives full credit . Also i disliked that this class was mainly presentations the whole semester like she barley lectures and i didnt like that because if i woudlve known that i would have taken a different professor im paying forr you to teach not to watch presentations all semester.
The professor is a tough grader
Great class, but be prepared for a LOT of reading and writing. The assignments were a bit repetitious, and she did assign way more work on certain weeks at random, so at times this class felt like an accelerated class. She seems to genuinely care about the material she teaches and despite her being a tough grader, this was a good experience.
I didn't like the class; I thought it was boring and that it did not teach me anything new. With that being said the professor is caring and cares about the students. She is a pretty tough grader but explains her decisions.
Very excellent professional! Homework is super easy as long as you put the time into it. Expect a few group activities, written essays, and an oral presentation. She is a picky grader but if you attend class and complete every assignment, you will be ok!
the content of the course was watching TED talks and doing presentations only.
If you aren't the best writer don't take her. I didn't like her class at all, she is a very tough grader on all written assignments. There are a few in class essays and one research paper you work on the whole semester(9+ pages). Two oral presentations. And at least two hw assignments per week(A reading with an writing assignment included).
She is absolutely the best professor you will ever get!
Tough grader definitely
Caring professor, but she is a hard grader. If you were going for GPA, I wouldn't recommend her. But if you wanted to learn how to write and research, you could take her class. Dont be afraid to ask question, she is very nice.
I really enjoyed her class when I took it this semester. She clearly cares both about the materials covered in class and her students even though this was an ASYNC class. Two assignments a week, a research paper and a midterm and final. I found all of the work pretty relaxed but the final and midterm were a little tough. Would gladly take again.
has been one of my more heavy loaded classes i have taken so far in college, 3-4 in class essays and 2 papers will be due throughout the course, with also presentations that you'll have to do in class. If you get the work done and manage your time, you will pass, she is reasonable and allows for late work if you check in with her
Important things to know: she expects two journals and a weekly discussion post. She grades hard, rarely gives out 100%, and does not post clear rubrics for the assignments. All of her assignments are on current social issues which is nice to educate yourself about. This is not it if you're going for a GPA and want an easy class.
Not recommended. Avoid if you could.
Professor Banerjee runs a solid class. Expect plenty of writing assignments, but she's a fair grader if you put in the work. Unstuck AI proved helpful for studying and staying on top of the workload.
Professor gives 2 journal assignments per week with 300 words minimum each journal and are all about social justice issues. She grades unnecessarily hard for the journal assignments which are supposed to be YOUR OWN THOUGHTS/OPINIONS on the article. Very hard grader, class high score never reached 100 for any assignments and not the best feedback.
Prof. Banerjee is a very forgiving, understanding and a caring professor. BUT! her grading system is very strict. She barely gives 100 and even getting a 73/100 would boost your grade up by 1%. If you're failing in her class, good luck in trying to pass. She has new modules every week and expects at least two essays every two weeks.
Really helpful class, also really tough. Be ready if you take this course, you have to give 200% what you have to get an A. Good luck
The professor is pretty chill and kind. she is nice and explains well but her grading policies can be harsh.
She gives really general feedbacks and I found her lectures a bit boring. No offense, but her monotone voice delivers me to sleep many times despite how hard I tried to stay awake. Moreover, her feedbacks are really confusing and don't help much. My friend was told to develop her ideas further all the times without knowing which point specifically.
I loved this teacher with my whole heart and truly believe she cares about her students' success. She offered us the chance to revise papers, assignments, and work on missed assignments to get a better grade. I would take her class again in a heartbeat, not only because she is a fair, quality teacher, but a good person.
Took C1001, or 1C. Very understanding, gives extensions as long as you communicate with her. Really sweet, but lots of in-class work feels like busy work. Minimal homework but you have to put lots of effort in. Rarely gives 100s. Essays she is MUCH more particular about. Weekly hw includes discussion + journal. Large research paper @ end of sem.
