SUPER motivate instructor! Knows what she teaches, and organizes her class time very well! Never a second wasted. I highly recommend her. As for tests, they were multi-choice and come directly from BOTH lecture and reading. Sometimes the videos that we watch as well.

THIS CLASS WAS ACTUALLY FUN. I REALLY ENJOYED GOING. IT WAS AN EASY A AS LONG AS YOU TAKE NOTES FROM HER LECTURES, TURN IN YOUR 2 ASSIGNMENTS, AND SHOW UP. PRINT OUT HER LECTURES! SHE WILL GIVE YOU EXTRA CREDIT FOR THE FIRST CHAPTER. VERY EASY CLASS, SHE TEACHES VERY WELL. SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR AN EASY A, WITH A GREAT TEACHER, TAKE HER!

PowerPoint lectures can be a little long and boring, but she sees that and lets you out early sometimes. I really didn't read the chapters and I passed with a B, could have got an A if I read. The tests are really straight forward. Extra credit opportunities also available. She was always cheery and happy.

Great professor for Sociology and one of the better ones at ECC too. The class was pretty easy. Exams are multiple choice. One three page essay required at the end of the course, MLA format, but all internet sources. In class writing assignments also required, yet are very easy. With regular attendance and a quick skim through tested chapters will get you an A.

She's an amazing professor. makes class very interesting and fun. no homework other than reading. Lectures are on powerpoint and you can print them off her website so you dont even have to take notes (she recommends it). even though she lectures you still have to read the chapters but its not hard. tests and quizzes arent too tough either.

She is cool, but you have to do all the work. Don't miss any tests even though you can drop your lowest score. Go to every class and take advantage of all possible extra credit. Prof Allen is easy and helpful. Print out her notes before the lectures and all you have is there. You don't really need to study for tests if you take notes/ follow her print-outs during class. Doesn't assign much because she doesn't want to grade :) 4 tests, 4quizlings, 4 video worksheets, she drops the lowest score from each. also, 1 paper.

Very good instructor, she takes her time in giving examples to clarify. Very easy going, does give plenty of time for essays and never really gives HW, class assignments are rare quizzes are only about every 2 wks and 10?s. Great class, strongly recommend, I will be taking her again for 102 and all the others. There are no teacher pets with her.

I think people should be able to test out of this class since its all common sense stuff. Ms. Allen is nice, and very clear and concise with her lectures. But if you are an older student, prepare to be treated like a little kid. She tends to generalize the class as 18 year olds, not taking into account that there may be 30-40 yr olds present too.

I enjoy her lectures. Loved Prof Allen! On the students level. Two short and easy papers. Grade is mostly based on tests and quizzes, which are easy. Reading the book is not painful and thats how I passed the class. Never really took notes but definitely paid full attention to the lectures. Best part is she has you watch great films!

Very good class,You have to study for the test they are hard, if you dont study dont bother coming in to take the class, and shes strict on grading. 5 ppl were 1 point away from getting a B and she wouldnt give it. Dont test her! Youll get the opposite answer you would expect.

Socs 102 is a very fun class and Professor Allen teaches it well!! Take her class. You'll learn loads. She doesn't play games though. I earned an A but it took time as well as dedication. Do the extra credit when she offers it!!! It'll pay off.

COMES OFF fake but she's just really nice and chipper. follow her instructions to a T and you'll get an A. do EXACTLY as she says on the 2 written assignments and you can spare exam points. Great class for adult learners.This is a distant learning course so they are flexible and work around your work schedule. This course is Stress free learning and student friendly.

I've taken Prof. Allen for 101, 102 and am currently taking her for 104. She is hands down my favorite prof at ElCo. She couldn't be more clear in her expectations for her writing assignments. If you do her study questions and bring the powerpoints to class you'll be sure to pass. She LOVES her job!

Mrs. Allen is a very nice, good teacher. However, her tests vary from the lectures and notes. On one of her tests, 16 people (half the class) got an F ! The biggest problem are her answer choices (both a and c, both a and b). Her class was very interesting though, and the Susie assignment was my favorite. If you're a good test taker take her.

This class is fairly easy. It does take work and a bit of studying, but outstanding grades on exams are not necessary. I got an A in the class and averaged a B- on the exams. However, on the rest of the assignments I only missed a couple of points. Overall, fair workload. Take it. There is a lot of room for earning an A in this class.

LOveD this class! I'm a psych major so I love this subject already took her for my sociology 102 class and she is very helpfull and the study guides she gives are extremely helpful for the exams! just make sure to read the book and take notes and you should do great I got an A so didnt have to drop my lowest test or go to th last exam good luck :)

The work was easy too; she guides you through it so there's no trouble, the films are interesting. Did not enjoy reading the book and articles but it helps ..A LOT!!! Try to go to class, the points you get for being there will help at the end of the semester when you're adding up the points. Only 10 points of extra credit so every point you get will count. Lectures are simple, common sense, reading the chapters and studying the power point slides will get you an easy A! Very easy class, take her!!

She is one of the best Sociology professors at El Camino College... very straight forward, like any other class you have to work hard to earn that A.

She has 4 test and 4 quizzes but drops the lowest test and quiz score. If you have a B or an A when it is time for the final test you don't have to take it. If you have a C then it is up to you if you want to take the test. She is a easy teacher she has study questions on team site and also lectures you can print out use them. Test base off of them

Mrs. Allen is a great teacher! All her lectures are fun. Her test are easy if you read the book, and she drops your lowest test grade.

My favorite teacher by far. She gives great lectures and gives you everything you need to pass. You get review sheets, study questions, lectures if you just do a quick review before the test it's an easy A.

I really appreciated this teacher. I would take her again teaching style is great she is funny and is willing to help if needed. Read the chapters take notes highlight. This teacher really helped me decide that sociology was the major that I wanted to pursue. She was always so passionate in class and made the lectures light, yet fun and interesting. She made me want to learn more which is hard to find in teachers these days. I highly recommend taking her classes. You will succeed if she is your teacher!

Love her! I had her for 2 sociology classes. Very clear about what she expects from you, drops the lowest testquiz grade so if you did well on the first 3 exams then you don't have to take the final, study guides & powerpoints are available online, offers easy extra credit. I don't understand how anyone would have a hard time getting an A or B

Prof. Allen is amazing. I took her over the summer and came back in the fall for more! About the class: very straight forward assignments, study guidesvery helpful, offers extra credit and a decent amount of time for the course will get you an "A." If you need this class to fill a requirement or you're a soc lover, she's the best you'll ever find.

if you show up you get an automatic 20 points for attendance and participation . If you just study the lecture questions and read you will pass her test. she is an awesome teacher. It sucks that she won't be teaching in the fall of 15. also she put your greads in really fast which is great

Do not take her for social problems; the group project is terribly irritating. She is an amazing professor though and her women's studies class was my favorite class I have taken at el camino. Best sociology professor. Just do NOT take her for social problems.

She is very clear on what she wants from each assignment and if you have question you can always ask her after class or during her office hours. The exams and quizzes are not difficult as long as you pay attention to her lectures, read the textbook, and do the study questions. You learn a lot in her class if you put in the time and effort.

Professor Allen was a pleasure to learn from. She has an amazing personality that makes the lectures hilarious, inspiring, and easy to understand. Also, she offers plenty opportunities for extra credit. I really recommend enrolling in her class.

She was an amazing teacher. I had her for the summer session and was still able to leave feeling like I learned everything I would in a Fall or Spring semester. She's very helpful and offers extra credit. Go and have her review essays in advance and you will receive a higher grade. Participate and you will get the best out of this class.

I loved her class!! Her lectures are easy to understand and very interesting! Attendance is mandatory, because sometimes she gives group work or extra credit. Pop quizzes and exams are understandable, notes are what helped me pass. Def. looking fwd on taking her again.

I like Stacey. Shes a good teacher, has great examples and really tries her hardest to make the lectures interesting. The only thing I don't like about her is the true false quizzes. I've asked her to get rid of them for her future students

Her class will literally change the way you look at life. If you're interested in gender studies take her class! She is using a new text that is wordy but has so many amazing readings you won't have a problem with all of the readings. Tests are T/F making it straight to the point, either you know or you don't. Great spirit! She really enjoys WS!

First time taking a sociology class and she made the class so interesting and easy! There are some writing assignments but they are just 1 page long. She drops the lowest quiz and exam grade. If you have an A at the end of the semester you don't have to take the final exam!

By far best sociology professor on campus. I literally took professor Allen for ever sociology class I could! She is amazing and will change the way you view things. Class is straight forward, drops lowest quiz and exam, gives study guides DO THEM! They help a ton. A couple of one page writing assignments, follow directions and you will be fine.

I came in thinking sociology would be very boring and I wouldn't learn anything. Boy, was I wrong! I learned so much I am now considering switching my minor because of Professor Allen. She made the material easy to comprehend and FUN! Yeah, there's a paper to write but there's not much to it. Also, do the study guides and you'll do fine on tests.

Professor Allen is so inspirational. I've taken her for soc 101 and now Women's study. I love her teaching style, she engages the class in conversation and is very helpful. She is a great mentor who is open to discussion and questions so visit her office hours if you need help. One of my favorite professors, I highly recommend her!

A wonderful professor. Really nice and chill about a lot of things. Lectures are pretty simple, she doesn't force you to take notes. She does give credit for participation. In class assignments involve answering questions on videos we watch. Textbook isnt required (didnt need one the whole semester lol) but i recommend it. Overall, a cool class!

Great professor. Lectures are great, but you do have to read the chapters in order to do good on exams. She might not let you make up work if you don't let her know before that you will miss class, but other than that shes caring.

Fall 2016 - This teacher is very nice. Do the study questions before every exam because those help a lot. She drops the lowest quiz and exam score. At the end of the semester, on the second to last day, she calculates your grade to see if you need to take the last exam. She is very nice and the class is pretty interesting.

Professor Allen is amazing! I suggest printing the power points before class , it makes it easier to follow along in class and also answer the study question.

Show up and turn her powerpoints into Quizlets, you'll get an A. 4 tests and quizzes, drops the lowest for each. 2 fairly simple essays and 3 VDQ's. Some EC. She's really nice. My only complaints are: 1.) She takes a really long time to grade things 2.) The test questions aren't always super clear. Just study! Book is avail. + free on b-ok(.)org!

Professor Allen is an awesome instructor. She will give you study guide questions that will be on the test and notes are clear and concise. She posts the notes online in case you missed class. If you study the study guides, you will pass. No surprise questions or trick questions on exams, so they are very doable. Drops lowest scored quiz and test.

I took professor Allen for my first ever class at el Camino in the summer, she is so interesting and so are her lectures. I didn't read the book I just memorized all the vocab from the book and it helped!

Prof Allen is like your mom's cool friend. She's easy to talk to in class, she knows how to keeps lectures engaging, and she is super supportive of student success. Go to SI sessions to keep up with reading and terminology and you'll do well. Clear and doable workload and all multiple choice quiz/exams. You really have to be slacking to do badly.

Professor Allen is such a sweetheart, she truly cares about her students. Be aware you cannot miss more than twice, unless a valid reason. You do have to read the chapters so the textbook is needed however, she does provide chapter study guides which is very helpful. There's a lot of key terms to learn but SI sessions do help. Theres no reason to miss any assignment in this class because she doesnt post a lot at all. Her tests were very easy and the grading criteria was clear. You have to purchase a book and it will help you a lot throughout the course.

Very chill and lowkey teacher, suuuuuppeeerrr kind and cares about the subject and you can see that by the lectures, slides, and extra resources that she provides. Fair person as well, I came across a glitch on a test and was given a zero due to no questions popping up, but she fixed the glitch and gave me a second try. 10/10 for sure.

A caring and supppperrr kind teacher, cares about the subject she teaches and is always positive. Fair grader and gives tons of resources to test your knowledge and learn from. The class itself is meh but that's only because I'm not a massive fan of it, but the way she teaches and the resources that she gives makes the material easy to learn.

I have never had a professor want you to succeed and do well in their course the way Professor Allen did. She set you up for success at every turn which made the class so enjoyable. Instead of worrying about a grade, I just got to enjoy the subject matter knowing I was learning and retaining info well because of her class structure.

Honestly easiest class I have taken. We just add these super long module reflections on canvas which weren't hard they were just unnecessarily long and only worth 5points. But if you do everything and show up you don't have to worry and all the homework and tests were online so easy A.

I took her hybrid course, and it is a lot better than asynch. Workload is lighter. She is very enthusiastic and plans a lot of fun but educational activities to learn sociology. She also grades your work like an elementary school teacher and it was very nostalgic, I loved it! The class itself is very easy, and she's usually very nice!

Professor Allen was a wonderful introduction to sociology. She genuinely cared about each and every student's success in her class. Her unique Visual Sociology assignments were fun to do and the textbook readings and inquizitive after were enjoyable.

Professor Allen's class was definitely fun and she made learning about Sociology pretty easy to understand. She does love to do active learning activities most of which were hands-on to help demonstrate what we've learned and how it would apply to those activities. Homework given was bearable and there are 2 essays which weren't hard.

Amazing professor! One of the best professors I've ever had. She truly cares about her students, explains concepts clearly, and is very fair in her grading. She offers extra credit and gives practice quizzes to help with the graded quiz. I learned a lot in this class and actually enjoyed doing the work. Take her if you can, you won't regret it!
