Tons of energy, but patient. Gives quizzes back next day and wants everyone to understand. Challenging, but you can learn a lot

One of the best teachers at Butte.She not only knew the subject like the back of her hand but she was helpful and sincere.This is a demanding class but if you leave the drama and attitude at the door, you'll be fine.

Although she was kind of intimidating at times, she was usually very nice. To me, she only seemed rude when people would come in with a holier than thou attitude and challenge her years of teaching with their inability to admit that they are wrong. She's always willing to help student and was determined to have her students understand the topic.

Promoted growth, helped us learn, and expanded minds. Truly amazing...

tough class but lightbulbs kept going off in my head. never worked harder but it was awesome. don't take if you don't plan to study. she'll work with you, but mostly you have to do the work yourself. i'm planning on taking another class from her. she rocks

Difficult class. Must must must pay attention and go to class. Stacy is always willing to help. She likes things a cirtain way, but she was the best teacher I have ever had!!!!

Very hard teacher but I really did like the class. It was a challenge and it really showed me what kind of effort you need to put into in order to get a decent grade. She does like things a specific way but it just makes you pay attention all the more so that you understand the material.

I loved this class! Stacy has a great sense of humor which really helps because the course is pretty demanding. But I learned alot and am amazed that I'm using so much of it in other classes. Highly recommend.

She can change the way you think about the world. Go to every class.

HARD TEACHER! UNLESS YOUR SMART! NO SLAKING IN THIS CLASS! 3 essays 2 pages double spaced. If you indent your paragraphs one more or one less space than 4 spaces, you receive an F!

Stacey is strict, and will keep you working hard. That said, she tries to keep class fun & interesting. Attend all classes, do ALL the homework whether gathered or not, and make sure you email her with questions. VERY difficult material, but worth an honest effort. Students who expect all their classes to be easy should rethink their life goals.

I've taken stacey twice and it's the first time I've been challenged to actually think. I get why some students may not like the material, but this teacher is fun. I don't getwhy so many people says she's mean--she's not. She expects people to act responsibly--a great concept! Take her and you're gaunteed to learn a ton.

It was a very hard class, but Stacey was an awesome teacher. She claims herself to be a "rules girl" which is true! Very nice and helpful. I would recommend taking philosophy with her!

I don't thnk there are easy A's, but I earned one. Great sense of humor (check out he rweb site). People who complain want gold stars for nothing. It's a Logic class! You gotta think and work it! Would recommendthis class.

She's the easiest to learn Philosophy from. The only thing I didn't like was that you HAVE to attend all of her classes.

I admire this class because you have to use all of your thought power. I thought that it was a great class and it's really helped me a lot. She clearly states that looking online is mandatory and it's all individual work. She is quite strict on test policy and your responsibility but hey it's college. Great teacher.

Mrs. Burks is a wonderful teacher! I love her, I havent yet completed her class this semster but if i dont pass that is my own fault because she really does her best to teach you the best way possible. this class isnt easy no matter what teacher you have and i feel that the only reason people dont like her class is bc they are lazy.

People don't like her because they are lazy and don't want to do the work. No matter what teacher you have, the class is hard. Don't take this just to get your general ed done, take it for a major or something worthwhile. if you don't want to be there, your grade will reflect that.

She's forever changed how I think. Awesme class--Assault On Reason scary...but worth the read. Always answers e-mails...always! Write her!

Awesome teacher! Really cool. One of the hardest classes I've taken, but I always look forward to it because of Stacey. Do your homework and you get extra credit on a quiz. And turn your cell phone off during class--bad news if it goes off. I actually appreciate that. She's the only teacher I've had that answers e-mails. Take Logic with her

She's the bomb! Great, great class. You'll work your a** off--but do so gladly. She makes Logic fun and cares that you learn. Don't have you cell phone on. You'll be ousted. Harsh--but kinda cool. She's the rule gal. But you'll learn tons!

A very strict instructor, teaching the hardest general ed course in existence. She makes the most difficult quizzes and tests I have ever seen at the community college level.

I had to take the class twice b/c it was difficult for me and I didnt take it seriously the first time. I liked Stacy so much that I signed up with her to take the class again. I had a lot of fun learning the material though.

I took Stacy's class last semester and I got a D, not because she is a bad teacher but because the content of the class is very difficult and you must attend every class. You have one, sometimes two quizzes every day and if you come in even one minute late you have to wait outside and get a 0 on the quiz. DO THE HOMEWORK. Don't get lazy!!

At first she seemed really hard, but once you start to understand the material you'll do fine as long as you practice. She gives a quiz almost every day (sometimes two). I really like her now. She's a really nice lady.

The most difficult class I have ever taken! Stacy is very smart and very helpful IF you ask questions. I didn't find her rude or condescending. She has a lot of rules...so follow them.Show up and do your homework and you'll pass. I failed at least 2 quizzes and got several C's-still got an A. Stacy brings credibility to community college.

Bunch of crybabies on here. Yeah it's a hard class. It's college! If you want an easy class, don't take logic. You want to learn something, this is the class where that happens.

Ask questions, you will get answers. This class is about being a better person. Stacey is a genuine teacher who believes her students that try will succeed and benefit from the rewards. This is a hard class no matter which teacher you have but Stacey allows for wiggle-room when it comes to grading. Make sure you attend class or you will NOT learn!

It seems that Prof. Burks teaches at a level similar to what I imagine an MIT or Harvard professor teaching at, and she probably grades harder then they would too! She has two master degrees. My only complaint is that I felt the quizzes sometimes covered material not taught in the lectures or the book. I felt that almost a 3rd book was needed.

Tough class, but OMG...I learned so much. Do the homework, go to SI. Ask questionsz and you'll be blown away. Best class I've taken at Butte and I've been here 1.5 years. great class!

Really tough class but if you do your homework and you regularly attend class you'll do fine. YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK or you wont pass. she really cares about her students and will do anything in her power so you can succeed. great teacher. If your looking for an easy course this is not for you.

Great teacher! EXTREMELY hard! She will do whatever she can to help you pass. Have to attend class or you will not understand. I learned so much in this class and it is because of her great teaching. Can seem intimidating at first but stick with it if you are willing to put in the work and effort. If you want an easy class dont take this course.

This is a very difficult class If you do not go and do not put time into it you will not pass. I recommend using a tutor to help you grasp the concepts, its like learning a new language- you have to practice a lot... The teacher is wonderful; she answers any questions you have and will ALWAYS respond to your emails.

Grades are earned, not given, and this class is a perfect example of that. To succeed you need to attend every class. I got a tutor, and I would highly recommend it. Stacey is very helpful, but you need to ask questions!

There is no doubt that this class is extremely difficult. It does require that you attend every class in order to comprehend the material. Stacey is not going to baby anyone but she is always willing to try and answer any questions you may have. She is genuinely interested in the subject she teaches and is very knowledgeable.

Stacey is an amazing professor! Explains matter in different ways. Must attend class in order to pass and UNDERSTAND the material. Not an easy 'A' class; must work hard to earn grade. I love her! She is amazing. No tricky questions on exam or quizzes. She is passionate! She is great! Took it over winter session. High demand.

Winter Session class, 11 days! Brutal, but worth it. Learned so much in a short time. Information was well presented, difficult but not impossible, and teacher was accessible.

Tough class, but she'll get you through it if you put in the time. Learned a lot!

Stacey is as tough as they come, but mostly fair. She makes some of the most difficult tests I have seen at the JC level, but grades on a curve. Sometimes she is too much of a stickler for rules. Only recommended to dedicated students.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class and this teacher! Lots of fun! I looked forward to the class every day! However, this class is difficult!! You MUST have the book and be very dedicated to the work!!! She will teach you something new each day.. so do NOT miss class. Check the website EVERY SINGLE DAY! Want an easy A? Go somewhere else!

Stacy is a tough teacher teaching a tough subject. Easily the hardest class I've ever taken. However, she is an incredible lecturer and grades on a curve. The only way to pass is to apply yourself as much as you can. Read, see tutors, DO the homework, and make all lectures. Participate so she notices you. She might grade you up if she sees effort.

Stacey's an amazing lecturer for such a tricky subject. It is SUPER IMPORTANT to do ALL the HW and go to EVERY class. Only two tests so quizzes are worth a lot. She's an intense teacher, but a pretty cool person. This is no cruiser class; you must apply yourself as much as you can. Textbook's essential. Want an A? Be prepared to study really hard!

This is a hard class. However, as long as you pay close attention during lectures, take notes, and do all the homework, things should go pretty smoothly. Memorize and follow all the rules. I barely read the book and everything worked out. Cool instructor with interesting lectures. Grading is mostly quiz-based with one midterm and a final.

Stacey Burks is a great professor! If you are engaged during class time and do your homework, there is no reason not to pass. She is always willing to help you understand what you dont. There is homework everyday, however it does help a lot to do it. Doing the homework is great practice for the tests and quizzes.

This was one of my harder classes, and I dreaded that we took the semester online, but throughout the semester I received answers to all my questions inside and outside of meeting hours and was helped thoroughly when confused. She graded with a curve that was not harmful to my grade and helped me rise from a D, to a C, to a B.

She is a very nice teacher, I had her during the Covid-19 pandemic and she was always easy to get ahold of. She was willing to work through any problems I or anyone else had in the class. This class was a little tough but I believe that it was largely do to the fact that it was the first online semester and everyone was working out the problems.4.5
