i doubt her spanish skill, thou, she's nice and easy-going
as a person she is good, but as a teacher still need more skill. Got be more helpfull. All the students diserve a lit attenction, if don't give to them chance are this student is going to fail or drop the curse.
VERY patient. The class moves very fast but she goes over everything properly. If you get lost along the way, take the time to see her for clarification...she will help you.

Good teacher...open book tests...don't feel too overwhelmed the first day...good taken concurrently with other spanish courses...you'll ace other oral and aural tests after taking this class. Really fun. Go out for a beer at the end of the semester.
shes awesome!
I have a few doubts about her spanish speaking skills (has a very distinct Mexican accent for some reason), but she is very patient. Gets annoyed when you don't do your work and ask questions that were obviously answered if you had done the assignment.
Her spanish skills are fine, she learned it in Mexico, so that's where the accent is from, the course teaches western spanish anyway, so it is more helpful with this dialect. She is very clear, and helpful, do your homework and you'll get an A+!
Awesome!
pretty nice teacher, I like having SPAN class with her so much. Patient and nice ppl.
Reads straight out of text, runs through rules quickly. Inconsistent emphasize on rules of grammar.
great teacher - the ways she teaches is fun and interactive
I'm taking her again.
Very clear. Spanish is hard to teach, however, Stacy still remembers what its like to learn it; this is very helpful. Very high energy. You don't feel intimidated, even if you don't know your stuff.
Stacey explains the material very poorly. She gets impatient sometimes when you don't understand the concepts, but she is quite high in energy. Talks too much sometimes.
Very good spanish prof. She explains all the material very well. it's up to the students to memorize the verbs and the vocabulary, she can't do it for you. She's very helpful. Go and see her, ask questions. She'll make sure you understood.
great teacher!
Stacey has a wonderful personality and is a lot of fun but she is very unorganized, frequently late, doesn't follow through on commitments and takes FOREVER to mark things. My Spanish improved greatly in her class but I was often frustrated as well.
I even failed all the quiz, end up still got A. The oral test is super easy.
Lots of material to cover. She doesn't have time to cover everything thoroughly. Lots of personal work in this class. She is very helpful but you need to ask in order to get the help.

very bad teacher. to much pressure towards students.
cannot teach u anything. doesn't help u when u need help.
cannot teach anything good. always get off topic.
talks too much about other things. never finishes activities in time for the finals.
she talks way too fast that it makes my ears tired. she also talked during exam. nice person, though.
I haven't finished this course yet and I have already learned twice as much as I did taking beginners spanish. she is a fantastic teacher, very thorough. metaphorically speaking, she will beat you over the head with the book until you get it. I highly recommend her if U are serious about learning
Stacey is one of the best profs i've ever had. she is extremely knowledgable and makes learning fun. She has tons of energy and really wakes the class up
don't ask her questions in her office. she will not answer them.
Great teacher but very hard course. My first time in a second language class so it was very difficult. I think Stacey is great she has more energy then the energizer bunny.
Stacey is a very nice person, upbeat and fun. But the course was very boring, with so much 'repeat after me'. It was taught entirely out of the libro, a lot of content rushed in at the end. However, she does everything she can to make sure you get a good mark, and the quizzes and exams are easy.
An amazing teacher. Lively and personable. I loved her class!
Wonderful, outstanding teacher!!! Sthijsey teaches things in a way that everyone can understand and she brings a dynamic energy to the classroom.
Although she's an a plus teacher, she gets upset easily and intimidates students. She's not like that after class though. Awesome person, but prob doesn't like teaching spanish anymore...
I think Stacy is a great teacher and is very thorough on what to study for exams. She assigns a lot of homework daily (most of it is repeated the next day with additional pages). We always seem rushed to finish each chapter before the quiz. All in all I think she is a good teacher, but I don't think I will take her again.
Not a proffesional, she overestimates her Spanish, she doesn't correct ppl if they're wrong, gets frustrated if you're too good! I love Spanish, but i'll never take her again! (she even corrected my cuban friend's spanish...duh!!)She's fake y una idiota!
I went to ask her questions about Spanish, but she would not help me. She said I was too dumb to learn Spanish. What an awful person this teacher is.
excellent teacher. has alot of energy. really earns her $$ in my opinion. i cant understand why anyone wouldn't like her. be prepared to work hard.
She never arrives to class on time. She rushes class material quickly. For heaven sake, we are here to learn. What a waste of my time and money.

Stacey is AWESOME!!! She's extremely helpful and friendly. She would actually send you all the hw (if you didn't have time to write it down) along with clear explanations. As long as you memorize the vocab, the rules...you'll be fine. No surprises on her quizes, tests, exams - everything's from the book. Just study!!! SHE IS THE BEST, EVER!!!
Hard prof, gets mad if u dont do ur homework. try to be there in class, u will benefit a lot from partcipating or just listening to her rather than memorizing the text. any lang is hard at first..but ask her..she might make u feel stupid but its not intentional! practice her handouts n u'll b more than fine
I had Stacey for Spanish 1115 and 1215, and she is both fun and hard. One thing to remember in her classes (and ALL classes) is that how much you learn and how well you do is up to YOU.In 1115 expect a ton of homework, from which you will really learn.1215 is super fun!She often goes on tangents; you can tell she taught a lot of bratty teenagers!
So Great, and Hot to boot!
When I first saw her, I thought she was an interesting classmate...until she put her breif case down on the front table!!! I absolutely loved taking her class and was hoping she was teaching the higher levels of Spanish. I would recommend her to anybody who considers registering for a spanish class, to take hers! She's awesome!
Impatient teacher. Gets angry at a student for asking too many questions.
I find Stacey to be snapish and rude. We are rushing through material and not focusing on the concepts that need review.
Stacey is the funniest prof I have ever had. She makes spanish so much fun to learn and so easy as well. She always manages to make everyone laugh or sometimes I am the only one laughing just because she's funny. Very good at teaching what she loves.. or I would think..
Stacey talks too much and likes to organize her classroom similar to that of a kindergarten setting. Its a pain to be around that woman, but unfortunately attendance counts for marks
Tough class especially if you are only taking it for an elective, however Stacey is a really nice person for sure and remembers everyones names which is refreshing...if you want to take spanish I would recommend her for sure...just be prepared to study and do ALL the homework and check it over when she tells you
She's always on the overdrive so if that's what you prefer in a teacher then make sure you take her classes. I found her boldness a bit too much but overall she's alright.
One of the best teachers i've ever had. She turns a simple language class into something to look forward to. I would recommend her to anyone because you will know spanish after her class. Her pronunciation is so clear and she has a real interest in her students progress.
I agree with previous comment about Stacey being "snapish and rude" Perhaps a little meditation would help?
awesome. she made my first experience with spanish v. enjoyable, and although it can get repetitive at times, she just wants everyone to do well and is always available for help. she is entertaining and teaches the language in a unique way. wish she taught further levels.
She has a habit of rambling and wasting critcal time. You're treated like you're still in grade 10.
stacey is an awesome professor. she engages the whole class room when she teaches. i have never found her to be 'snappish and rude', and she answered everyone's questions patiently, saying 'there are no stupid questions' even if we had gone over that material a hundred times!! i would definitely recommend her. span1205 is good too. she is stellar.
She is so clear, helpful and lovely! I swear, not once do I ever look at my watch during her class!
Stacey is fantastic. Her knowledge of the language is vast for a non-native speaker with a keen ability to impart that knowledge in an effective, engaging manner. Goes above and beyond in providing helpful study materials and is generous with her time outside of class. A gem of an instructor who takes a personal interest in her students' success
Stacey is one of the greatest professors I have ever had! She is fair, willing to help you when you're committed to your education. Is flexible if you are willing to communicate and be responsible for yourself, and will go out of her way for you to help you! One of the most amazing people ever!
stacey is an awesome prof! she genuinely wants everyone to do well. she's been extremely helpful whenever i went to her outside of class. her convo class is also really fun. yeah stacey!
Very good teacher, easy going, easy to talk to.
A fun teacher and willing to help.
She is a good prof! She sends you an email every class explaining your homework and how she wants it and even outlines the tests! However, this class is not easy and requires large amounts of studying and memorization! But she is upbeat and makes class interesting!
she is very bubbly. she eplains the same thing a lot of times. you really need to study a lot in this class because she goes really fast. she is one of the most interesting teachers i know but the emails she send are really long.
Stacey is SOOOO awesome! She makes spanish a really fun class to take. It is a lot of hard work but if you attend class and do the homework you'll do well. Plus, she is always always always willing to help you when you need it! Take her class you'll enjoy it!
I really like Stacey although I really wish she gave the students an opportunity to interact in class! If you aren't prepared to listen intently at ALL TIMES than don't take her class because you won't be doing anything else. If you want to learn Spanish, than take this class! If you don't really care, than DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Not a good professor.
She should be an actress, she's so entertaining. Goes above and beyond, takes a personal interest in her students' success. Fun and helpful! Great teacher!
Stacey is amazing. intense at first and overly anal about things BUT with organization comes success. Fun. Funky. Friendly. Met at pub after final with students for human-human visit. Available to help, always. Hilarious. NO GUM!! Calls on students at random LOTS! Study and practice and have fun!!
Stacy is a good teacher and person. She is always there to help. She is fair in her marking, although a little tough. You NEED to keep up on work in her class. Falling behind is a down hill slope to failing with her. I would/will continue taking her classes. Very good teacher.
Extremely annoying. She consistently reminds us that we can go to her for help, but when we do, she gives us a horrible attitude as if we called her a bad name. Asked for through email for some help; not only did she decline, but she got upset with me. Boring class, easy though.
Very loud and seeming annoying with the constant emails/reminders but helpful if you tend to miss class. If you're a slow learner, she can definitely prove to be helpful. If not, you'll get annoyed. Big downside, she never gives you back your assignments on time
I was excited to be in Stacey's class at first. She's gung-ho about spanish. However, by the end of the semester, the whole class was miserable. She is condescending and treats you like a three year old. Frequently calls on you - especially if you show any signs of fatigue or drowsiness. Avoid if you can. Sucking up is the only option for survival.
At first I didn't like her, but then I got to love her! She is absolutely amazing! She is full of energy and wakes up the class. She's a super good teacher and explains the stuff well! The only problem is that she is kind of unorganized and late. Also, sometimes she can come off as rude, though she's not actually...
Stacey is always energetic and happy at first that is great but it gets really annoying afterwards because she treats you like a child. If you get something wrong if she calls on u she will go on and lecture about it and she can come off as rude. In the conversational class we didnt end up speaking much she just talked most of the class.
She is one of the most annoying instructors I have had so far. Consistently condescending and prefers to listen to herself talk than actually design the course so that students spend their time in conversation. At first she seems fun and energetic but she is actually compensating for being disorganized and lazy. Not a good professor.
She is a great teacher & wants the very best for her students! She makes people feel comfortable participating in the class, and makes sure that everyone DOES participate. Class is never boring with her, and as long as you're there and trying your best, she'll encourage you to speak and you'll do great!
Stacey was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I would love to take another course with her.
Stacey is awesome! She is always willing to help! It's prudent that you attend class, as she is VERY good explaining grammar points. She gives a lot of homework and practice quizzes which help with studying. She puts attention towards the fact that everyone learns differently and therefore tries many strategies. Spanish is fun with her!
Repeats herself too much. As if she's talking to 7-year-olds. Takes 2 classes to go over a chapter. You learn a language through practice, not by making cue cards. Even when your spanish is fire you'd still get poor marks because of accents and all that unnecessary stuff. If you have some type of dyslexia take her class.
She is a nice person, but WAY too loud and jumpy. I leave every class with a headache because she does not stop for a single second. Sure that is great to keep you focused, but she really needs to tone it down. Gives you SO much homework. I don't think she realizes that. She's great at explaining grammar points; but wouldn't take her class again.
Stacey definitely has personality. She cares about her students and can be a little strict in her expectations, but is straightforward. Sometimes her lectures seem repetitive, and comes off as treating the students like children, but considering most are in their first year of post-secondary, she is just trying to help integrate good study habits.
Very straightforward in her expectations, she cares a lot about everyone's understanding and participation.
Super annoying very boring prof
One of the best teachers I had for my first semester. Stacey really wants you to be sucessful in the language, just don't take her as a night class because she is super energetic. I'd only avoid if you are taking a semester of core subjects because it's a lot of material in a short time. But, she's pretty realistic with marking and test times.
Stacey is passionate about what she does. She wants you to really learn and remember the material. Tests are mostly fill in the blank. Be prepared to study, this isn't a class you can coast through. Stacey wants you to succeed. She's very accessible outside of class and will help you through anything you don't understand
She is amazing! Very caring and wants class to succeed. Very specific about what she expects; it is not a chatty class that you will coast through
Very enthusiastic about what she teaches, however I don't think she is the best at teaching. She is always willing to help, and has office hours almost always. She genuinely wants her students to succeed and is very kind. Her lectures are very dry however.
She wants her students to do well and proved multiple times that she is available to help. definitely reccomend
She'll treat you like a preschool kid, you cant even turn the page or take notes if she doesnt want you to do that at that moment. She speaks so loud almost screming I would always end class with a headache Easy tho, skipped HALF of the semester and still got a C+, did barely anything at all. My tip? Do the online spanish dont bother with her
Stacey is very passionate about Spanish which is respectable but she is not suitable to teach. She is easily aggravated by questions and also very dismissive. Worst prof I've ever had.
She is a good professor but she wants you to work for your grade. She is super-energetic and will make sure that you stay awake and focused throughout the lecture!
She treats everyone like they are in high school - super dismissive and rude, although I don't think she means it. She shouts her lessons which makes it very difficult to listen and learn. It felt very stressful to be in her class and her questioning style was very anxiety inducing, which is not great for an MFL class.
Stacey comes off as intense and condescending. She likes to do majority of the speaking and gets annoyed by student questions. She has many rules (for both in class and assignments) that need to be followed precisely otherwise she will scold you and/or take away marks. She creates an anxiety inducing space- especially around quizzes and exams.
Stacy makes you work for your grade and assigns a lot of homework. Be prepared if your going to take her class, especially if you plan on taking 1215, as the expectations in that class are hard to keep up with, especially if your taking a full course load
Stacey assigns you a lot of homework like she wants you to study and teach yourself. This is a language course and she expects the students to learn and be perfect in grammar on their own. Our 2-hour online class was ridiculous as she just wastes time there by talking useless things. I could've taken other prof and shouldn't be struggling too much.
Stacey is one of the worst instructor I've ever seen. She seems to be more worried about herself and her course's reputation then actually teaching. She spends most of the class talking, her correction is highly based on the idea that everyone is cheating. Use a single word that is not in the particular lesson she taught, you get an F. Terrible
Stacey is passionate about her voice. She wants you to really learn and remember the material, but only the material. Don't study, just memorize all the words in the book. Stacey wants you to succeed, but she encourages you by making you feel like you are always doing something wrong. Relies heavily on the book but no other content is allowed.
Homework is not clearly graded. She takes forever to give feedback. Keeps threatening everyone by repeatedly saying that she's gonna deal with cheaters. Her aggressive and continuous speech on cheating makes for a very heavy environment. She's the only one that talks, this is not a language course, its a memorize words course. Don't take her.
I was so excited to take Spanish as an elective; however, Stacey made that excitement quickly go away. Her emails are like reading a novel in which she yells half her words (ALL CAPS) to stress a point. She doesn't allow the students to interact and she is constantly threatening you with academic integrity. Over all, not a good learning experience.
Stacy's classes are a memorization course, which she does not make exciting nor does she make the learning environment positive. Stacey is constantly cutting off students not allowing them to contribute. Her emails are full of Verbal yelling in all caps which is not pleasant. She constantly threatens academic integrity-unnecessarily. Very negative.
Ngl, I took some time to look at all the rubrics for my classes and this one definitely stood out. I never dropped out of a class from reading a rubric and I can simply say she will be like the one English teacher you had who gets mad at you for using the wrong sheet of paper.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF U HAVE A FULL COURSE LOAD. This prof assigns way to much homework its actually ridiculous. Her lectures are pointless because she rambles about everything but the material. When she is referring to the material, shes basically reading it straight out the book. By far the worst prof Ive ever had wouldnt recommend her.
Not a good professor.
She talks too much. She doesn't allow students to ask questions. Not even students can find a gap to ask questions anyway, she never stops speaking. She gives extremely long examples for one grammatical rule, and you can lose focus in her class real quickly. She assigns so much homework. Feel free to experience her class, and judge for yourselves.
She is a great prof. Very energetic, warm, encouraging and knows her subject. I would take another course from her again.
Worst Professor I have ever had. Please don't take her. There are better professors than her. Trust all the bad reviews because they are true. Terrible grader, terrible Professor. If you want to ask a question during lecture, you can because she talks at 10x speed and doesn't stop to take questions. 0/10, and she gave me a wrong final grade.
Stacey is very talkative and does not let anyone ask questions during lectures, she assigns way too much hw and takes up to 2 months to grade stuff. I wouldnt recommend taking her class if you dont already know a little spanish. She expects students o learn everything on their own.
Worst Spanish professor at Langara. She talks way too much which makes it hard to even understand her lectures. She comes off as very condescending and obnoxious. Listen to the reviews DO NOT TAKE HER she is awful. She takes forever to mark the simplest things too. So expect to wait for your grade for a long time for a simple assignment.
Her emails are long, repetitive and condescending. Takes her months to grade simple assignments, however grades exams quite fast. Her lectures are boring, cringy and she does not stop talking - ever. Learn everything yourself at home and then come to class to listen to her blabbering. I thought I can handle her, but she is unbearable.
Stacey is an absolutely terrible teacher. How can someone be so bad at their job after "21 years of teaching". She will lead more students to give up spanish because of her dictator-like power hungry method of teaching. She literally takes the fun out of learning a new language. Do yourself a favour and choose Dolores.
I thought Stacey was a great professor! She has a strong personality but she is very caring and dedicated to helping you understand Spanish. I'd take the next level of Spanish with her.
Stacey is hilarious! Her class is like a one-woman show that keeps you entertained and also learning Spanish.
Stacey has a lot of personality which definitely can come across wrong to some people but she really wants to help explain the material so you can understand Spanish and she makes it fun.
Stacey is honestly the worst teacher I have ever had.. Im sorry to say. Every recent 5-star review must be written by Stacey herself in an attempt to keep her rating high. Just look, they're are all downvoted. Do NOT take her class !!
Stacey has a big personality, but I personally found her class engaging and effective. The main issue with Stacey is how often she forgot to give us our assignments etc back. She forgot to give us back so many assignments, quiz/exams scores when she said she would. It's staggeringly unprofessional; I've never seen anything like it at college/uni
Stacey is kind of good but not too much. In her lectures she speaks a lot I mean a lot because she wants too complete her syllabus quickly but she is supportive. Her grading is hard even for the minor mistake she took away marks, I mean we are just beignners. The only adivce is attend her lectures and do her homework, than you will be fine
I had to drop Stacey's class even though it was quite easy. Stacey created a class room environment that I could not withstand due to her childish teachings, tardiness, and her unorganized behaviour. Her lectures were her rambling the entire time about repeated concepts and she was passively rude at times. She killed my passion for spanish DONTTAKE
Stacey has a lot of energy and is passionate about teaching. She does have high expectations and the course is a heavy load. If you care about learning Spanish- you will absolutely learn with her. She is supportive and wants to see you do well. Dont take this course for an easy pass- be committed.
I mean the most clear cut example of unprofessionalism I've ever seen from a professor. If you have an option to take Gambroudes take it every time. Everything was unorganized, wasted so much time, held the class multiple times, constantly late.
Stacey is an energetic professor, but can be a bit overbearing in lectures. She assigns a lot of homework and can be tough on grading. To do well, attend class, complete assignments, and use resources like unstuckstudy to supplement your studies.
Don't take her. she talks so much half of the time it's useless stuff, strict, assign a lot of hw, takes days to reply emails while constantly telling us to email her when we have questions, expect us to learn ourselves like we're not literally beginners, doesn't give good response to a question. Terrible experience for me.
The lectures were stressful because Stacy would make you feel embarrassed if you don't know the answers to the questions she asks in class. She's very knowledgeable but she's not a supportive teacher.
Stacey is the most passionate and down to earth professor I have ever met in my life. The compassion and empathy she shows for her students is unparalleled. I've always wanted to be fluent in a language, and with Stacey's support and inspiration I plan on making that dream a reality. You will not regret taking her courses. (I've taken all three)
Stacey cares for her students and teaching. If u wanna learn, she wants to help. Is she disorganized? Yes. Is she flexible in return for the disorganization? Yes. Talks over u? Yes. Does she work around ur sched and support your learning needs? Yes. Langara should do student evals semesterly like other institutions so she has opportunity to improve
I'm a post-grad and working professional who registered specifically at Langara to learn Spanish in night classes online. Langara and Stacey are the only ones who offer this flexible opportunity. I've taken all 3 of her courses (1205-1115-1215 order of difficulty) and wish I could keep going with the 2000 level courses. I appreciate her very much.
I've taken multiple courses with Stacey and she really cares. I can't count the number of times she encouraged students to email her for help! Stacey encourages class participation, but actively encourages wrong answers because more than anything, she wants to help everyone learn. And people only learn by making mistakes first! Thank you Stacey!!
Stacey is, if not, the most awesome prof I had. I do see some reviews saying she talks over you at times, well yes, it's true. But for me its nothing, it only shows how passionate she is into teaching Spanish. She encourages everyone to participate, right or wrong she appreciates it. She could be a little strict with grading at times.
Stacey is AMAZING!!! provides so many opportunities for students to learn, she is a great teacher and is truly passionate about her students. She likes class engagement like singing songs, and it makes the whole learning experience so fun. Would def take her again :)
Im convinced she doesn't want you to pass because what kind of a person would start the exam with lengthy questions so you don't even have time at the end to get to the multiple choices where you can actually get your grade up. Her lectures are such a snooze fest and unnecessarily yaps a lot. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
if you wanna stay longer than your intended class time and just listen to the teacher talk about going on break for 10 minutes. This is the place to be. The lectures are so lengthy. She talks so much not to mention the exams questioning order is just messed up. the time limit for exams is just not enough she bombards you with so many questions
I'm not sure why stacey has so many bad reviews, if i needed spanish 1215 I would take it with her. She's funny and takes the time to give really thoughtful feedback on everything. She does mark things late but extremely reasonable, her tests do need to have more time. Get the paper textbook, everything is openbook. Overall a super lovely lady!
someone wrote about her on reddit and i 100000% agree look her up but heres a summary -too many online activities assigned 50/week + hw -takes FOREVER to mark everything even though all the quizzes and midterms were done online. -gave an assignment plus an oral exam during final exam period -cancels classes -took her 2 months to grade 30sec a video
i'm convinced that she writes her own reviews because if you notice nobody agrees with the five stars but regardless, I do not recommend her at all if you're looking for a GPA booster or genuinely want to learn Spanish, take somebody else's classes
her tardiness is soooo annoying mind you it took her 2 months to grade a 30 sec video and her exams were one of the first exams taken and we stall havent gotten our grades back and what goes through ones head to have an assignment and oral exam due during final season its nuts
Stacey is definitely one of the best profs I had in Langara. She loves her job, very friendly and she's such a wholesome professor. Took her class the second time and I didn't regret it, if I had more time I would've taken her conversation class. She tends to be unorganized at times, but that doesn't matter to me. These reviews are doing her bad.
I took her Spanish 1215 and the 1205(A grade). She is truly one of the most passionate and caring teachers you will ever meet. She is accomodating, reasonable, and helpful. If you enjoy Spanish and latin culture, you couldn't hope for a better teacher because she puts effort into helping you succeed. She is very enthusiastic so don't be intimidated
i learned more spanish from bad bunny than her she just talks your ear off
