Dreaded group work, and lots of it. Did not enjoy her teaching style. Extremely kindergarten like
stacey, is very helpful, clear and she knows what she is talking about. she gives is a lenient grader but her tests are hard. I recommend her but she will challenge you.
When Stacey lectures, she's pretty good at explaining concepts. But the majority of the class was spent working in groups of 4, trying to figure out the concepts on our own. She has some class rules that make you feel like you're a little kid.
Interesting Teacher. Very little lecture. We spent most of the time in groups trying to figure out the concepts on her own. Really did not enjoy her class due to the fact you feel like a little kid. Not much fun for someone over the age of 30.

Take another professor if at all possible. Her instruction is minimal, and then she spends most of class period frustrated because no one understands and the lab doesn't go as expected. I'm over 30 and have been scolded at some point almost every class period--very crabby middle school teacher like. Plus, she's a little disorganized.
The majority of the time she is talking gibberish or angry at the class for the grasping the concept being taught. She treats the class like 1st graders. Avoid this class as much as possible!
More interested in making sure everyone conforms to a certain learning/teaching style than anything else. Obtuse and condescending in explanation. Between the scolding and condescension I often found myself angry and unable to concentrate in a subject that I generally enjoy greatly. If at all possible, avoid her class.
Stacey can be impatient, but she has gotten better about that. I didn't like her at first, but now I like her alot! She is just very strict about certain things. Her lectures are to the point and informational. She emails students regularly. Her tests are difficult, but not too dufficult for the class. Willing to help during office hours.
I would rather have my yarbles cut off than take another class form her. Her teaching style is. well, she would have to be a teacher to have a style. Her tests are obtuse and her grading moronic. You can get the answer right but if she does not like how you got there than she will take off points anyway.
Stacy can be moody at times. Sometimes, she is difficult to follow during lecture. There were times that students had to explain the concept to the class since she could not. She will get frustrated with the class if the class is confused about a concept. She is willing to work with you if visit her during office hours.
i thought stacey was a good teacher. she was always more than willing to help during office hours. her lectures are clear and as long as you read the text youll do fine. stacey may have a more up-front personality than most teachers....but she is always nice. peeps that left the bad ratings because of her personality are way too sensitive...imo
Stacey was fair, and willing to LISTEN to your confusions or complaints if you visit her during offic ours. In class she can be a little hectic, but I would be too wth the way some students treat her. She will help you if you ask her. I overall thought she was helpful and understanding.
Stacey is very moody. Helpful on good days, very rude/snappy on others. Prepare to learn concepts in groups on your own and in groups w/minimal instruction and confusion. Group work a waste of time. Way too much OWL hmwk. Unnecessarily time consuming lab reports . Fussy grader.
Stacey is a great lecturer. She covers a broad range of topics in this class that aren't the easiest to learn. At some point the student has to be responsible for their learning, the amount of time alloted for lecture is minimal so the student has to take the time to read and study. Stacey does her job and she does it well.
Stacey is one of those instructors who blames her class for her inability to teach it. She's intimidating and asks sarcastic rhetorical questions just to make you feel inept. I'm sure if she had a better personality she'd be a great teacher.
Stacey is a good instructor who is very particular about grading. Make sure you show all of you work for even partial credit. She likes to have the class split into groups with individual roles, which is a complete waste of time.
Lectures from powerpoint. Any questions you have that cant be answered from the slide, she has difficulty with. Felt like I was learning "her version" of chemistry. Gets angry when questioned by more confused students. Most classtime spent in a small group trying to understand material ourselves. I had no difficulty with this class, but itwasa wast
she's just teaching things that she's into which is so irritating. The slides are pointless unless you understand. When she taught my lab she was fun. She asks way too much from her students she doesn't even have time to grade everything. Don't take her.
If I hadn't had chem in high school, I don't think I would have passed. Her explanations are clear as mud, esp. in the math. Relies heavily on "teach each other" group work, OWL online work, and the ACTIVITY BOOK, not the textbook. Fussy grader: fond of partial points. She is approachable and will help you one-on-one, but I don't recommend her.
Gets mad when students need more clarification-has terrible habit of cutting off students in the middle of a question.Hate the group learning, seemed to waste so much time talking about how we feel about topics rather than learning them! The book was useless.Liked her as a lab instructor and she is a good person.Take class w/ someone else-wish I did
A great person and teacher. I really liked her explanations. She started off simple, making sure everyone understood, then built off of that material gradually, so it was never really a challenge, but I felt like I was learning a lot in the process. Handles stress very well, never gets angry.
She doesn't write on the board the material that needs to be explained. I just didn't like her version of inquiry based learning.
Group learning can be frustrating at first, but bouncing ideas off other people can help a lot. Tests are easy if you study. Yes, the text book SUCKS but all the professors use the same one at Sylvania. She's an awesome teacher. I recommend her.
Stacey is a teacher that let other students teach for her. She is disorganized, lazy, and gets mad easily. Her labs are horrible, because she is prepare for class. Her favorite phrase is "I don't know, you google it and let me know" she is the worst instructor i ever had. Please avoid taking class with her.
Her method of teaching is boring as the discussion groups, her exams are hard, and she is not organized.
Took both CH 221 and 222 from Stacey consecutively. To me, she is an awesome professor. Stacey is very enthusiastic about chemistry, and knows her stuff. I actually looked forward to attending her lectures/labs! Sometimes the amount of course resources/material was overwhelming but it helped me learn chemistry. Stacey was also very approachable.
Stacey is very good at what she does. The textbook is not required for her class, just the workbook. She has you sit in groups for class, which i really liked because then you have 4 brains working. You also get a weekly assignment sheet online, as well as review sheets for tests. HW is online, and her tests are pretty easy if you just study.
Do you enjoy being treated like a third grader? Then you'll love this class. Stacey should not be teaching college-level chemistry. She will penalize you for not having your absences "approved" by her, and refuse to let you turn in missed work. Boring, boring labs, mindless tedious busy-work. Get the textbook, it's more helpful than the lectures.
Stacey should not be teaching college level chemistry. She has no concern for her students and treats them like 3 year olds. She will tell you one thing and then "forget" what she said and then penalize you for it later. When students ask her a question she tells the to google it. This class is a waste of money and time.
When Stacey wants the classes attention she raises her hand and then everyone else is expected to raise their hand and be quiet. We called it Chemdergarten. Of my class of 24 people 12 dropped, and only 6 passed the class. Stacey needs to stop teaching because she isn't good. She gets mad, reverses what she just said and is disorganized.
Stacey is a nice person and she really likes chemistry but take another professor she told us that we didnt need the book but I really did need it to clarify the lecture. She raises her hand to get the classes attention and expects the class to do the same,I didnt know that we were in first grade are you kidding me.TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER.
This instructor does not know how to teach. She is not prepared to teach her class. She never answers questions because she doesn't know the answers. She says "you guys are very smart in math" and she does not solve the problems. Worst instructor ever. I heard her saying that she got her Master's degree online. That just goes to show!!!!
Terrible
Stacey loves chemistry and you can tell she's passionate about teaching. I have taken chem before and thought she explained the information well. She's willing to meet with students at their disposal to help with understanding concepts - she's very patient. Grades are based on HW, quizzes, exams and the final. My biggest complaint is the online HW.
Stacey is a good teacher and organizes her lectures so they're easy to follow. She is a slow grader, so it's hard to gauge where you are in the class. It takes her 1-2 weeks to grade exams and even longer for labs. Online homework is a pain but if you do well, you will do fine on the exams. I would recommend her if you are ok with minimal feedback.
Stacy ranks pretty low out of all 20 of my PCC teachers. She has a very demeaning, high school approach to teaching, and seems very unsympathetic to student effort. She expects you to fail and seems unimpressed when you don't. I think maybe she got burned once and remains distrustful of people where there's no need to be.
Stacey isn't very patient and doesn't seem to like teaching very much. She is short with students sometimes and I wouldn't recommend taking one of her classes.
Not helpful, she does love chemistry but that doesnt always translate to teaching well. expect to be babied when you dont need it and ignored when you actually need help
THIS IS A HIT OR MISS KIND OF CLASS. ONE DAY CAN BE GREAT WHILE THE NEXT WILL BE CONFUSING AND HARD. TEACHER GETS UPSET EASILY BUT REALLY DOES WANT TO PLEASE HER STUDENTS. THERE IS A QUIZ EVERY WEEK AND TWO EXAMS + FINAL. THERE IS A PRESENTATION IN THE LAB. GRADING SEEMED TO VARY FROM STUDENT TO STUDENT
She's not very helpful. Likes to treat you like a kid. and if you ever read ahead and ask questions, she will not answer them and tells you, she'll get to that topic next week. One of the worse teachers i have ever had!
Horrible. Condescending. Rude. Dumbs things down in class then gives hard tests. Total lack of respect for students. If you want to be in kindergarten, this is the class for you. Had to learn everything from the book myself. She contradicted herself & got mad if you questioned her. Petty grader too. Worst instructor I've had yet.
She is utterly useless when anybody needs help or has question. When asking for help, the answers you will receive are cryptic and confusing. Chem isn't easy but she doesn't even want lead you down the right path to get the correct answer. NEVER TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!
Wouldn't even let me in the class when clearly I was the only one with a background knowledge for chemistry. If you want to take chemistry 100 and call it 221 take Fiddler
She is such a wonderful teacher, I absolutely love her, She is very fun and loves her subject. Super clear with her lectures, and very repetetive in material so it really sticks.
I withdrew at week 3, after skipping 2 classes just because... The juice is not worth the squeeze with Stacey acting as an instructor. She grades terribly for how bad she does everything while babying you. Does PCC rate their professors? The worst teacher I've had in all 7 terms here.
Easy Class overall. She grades everything on her own terms. very particular about following her instructions, even little mess ups you get docked points and they add up. very controlling. would not recommend to take as and instructor.
Stacey was always there to help and the work wasn't so overwhelming that it was unapproachable. The group work (pogil method) was actually not bad. She was a little particular in grading, especially with lab work. Labs were much more enjoyable then Gen Chem. Overall, she genuinely cares about teaching and is one of the better teachers out there.
Stacey is an AMAZING instructor! She is very friendly & genuinely wants her studnts 2 succeed. She encourages studnts 2 come 2 her office hrs & does a grt job explaining things outside of class. She uses the POGIL method (which I think is common in CH dept @ PCC) - very non-traditional & not my favorite but if u do the work, it can be very helpful
Ridiculous, to be honest. I'm by no means a bad student. In fact, I have (well, had) a solid 3 point, but taking her class is a complete nightmare. I swear, she's unorganized, and can't even direct students to what's due (mentioned it herself). I'm stressing now, and this has never happened before. I'm finishing this term, but with just a passing.
Stacy made it very clear how to succeed in her class and if you followed her instructions it seemed easy to get a good grade. I couldn't believe how poorly she treated students. Her behavior was demeaning and rude which created a bad atmosphere and discouraged kids from asking questions. I didn't like her as a person or a teacher .
Fiddler is the worst teacher I have had. She treats you like a baby and doesn't care about anything you say, she docks points for the smallest things and even if you put you hard effort and studied or even try and see what you did wrong she wont give you the time of day. SHES HORRIBLE
I have been going to PCC for 2 years now &I have never rated a professor, but this one really needs to be rated. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER. Not to mention she is rude and NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. Her d2l assignment due dates are UNCLEAR, I mean how hard is it to put a date near an assignment? Trust me on this, you'll thank me
Awful teacher. This is simple material, and Stacey makes it complicated while implying that we are too stupid to understand the exclusive world of prep chem. Unfortunately, due to her poor teaching ability and personal lack of mastery, it's hard to learn. Wikipedia and Youtube will be your friend should you choose to take her. You will be sorry.
Stacey makes it clear that her whole goal is for her students to do well. She will not hand you a grade, but she will help you, and tutor you and work with you to help you understand chemistry to the best of your ability. Having been taught by other chem professors since Stacey, I miss her methods and would learn from her again in a heart beat.
Stacey is awesome. If it weren't for her and her dedication to helping me learn, I wouldn't have passed. She never gives you a grade you don't deserve, but she's so passionate about what she does, she wants everyone to be just as passionate. She was so committed, when I got an A on my midterm she said "I actually whooped I was so excited for you!
I was bogged down with assignments by week 2. Stacey grades hard and is incredibly particular about following directions. She treats everyone like middle school students in lecture and lab. Tests were vicious. I am a seasoned student and would not recomend this class to anyone taking multiple classes. It is not set up to allow you to succeed.
Good God, this is a professor that you want to avoid. Coming from someone who isn't bad at the sciences, I felt abused in her class. She's nice, I giver her that, but as far as gradingwork is concerned, do not take her. She'll go behind your back at times, and become passive aggressive. I stopped showing up near the end, and just took a no pass.
Stacy is a nice person but a very messy instructor. No idea what she was expecting us to do for homework and no instruction for it or whatsover. Her lecture are long and not interesting (my opinion only). Student mostly learn from homework rather than instructor. Will not take her for class again.
I like Stacey as a person - she means well and TRULY wants you to succeed. However, she should not be teaching. She will dock you off points for being late to lecturelab or if you forget to write your last name on an assignment. She expects students to be PERFECT yet she is VERY unorganized. Pick another teacher unfortunately, I had no choice.
I really liked her lectures. She seems like a really kind and jolly person, and I like how she goes easy with lesson, how she encourages group work, and how she uses clickers in her class. Don't understand it? She'll help you. She even has a section for help after class!
Stacey can be really confusing in the way she explains concepts, but if you read the book before coming to class, don't skip, and do all of the homework the class is easy to pass. She does take attendance and that factors into your grade.
CH151 is preparatory so imo if you don't want to complain about things going too slow or that you already know about sig figs, the periodic table, mol, dimensional analysis, and stoichiometry then take the competency test into 221. Otherwise understand that this is a class to get EVERYONE up to speed. Fiddler genuinely cares about her students.
I really liked her! It's easy as long as you take her lectures, and quizzes, homework, and exams all have extra credit. She takes the lectures nice and easy, so if you never had chemistry or had a hard time with it, take her class. I would take her class again if I had a chance.
ONE OF THE BEST INSTRUCTORS I'VE EVER HAD. Yes she gives homework, due once a week and takes 2-3 hours to do. Class is mostly group work and participation. Shes nice, offers a lot of extra credit and provides a ton of resources to help students pass. I FAILED Chemistry in high school. Her passion and class made me fall in love with it.
She use different type of techniques to help you learning. 60% of grade is 3 exams, each 20%. Homework and Quizzes each 10% and the 20% lab. Participating point are not a lot, but there is no way to not attend the CH223 and get" A". Each week there is quiz from last week that review material for you. She is the best for chem223.
Stacey is a good instructor. She has office hours available regularly and she is patient with her students. Her exams are hard, she grades hard, and she can sometimes be unorganized, but overall she did a good job. If you like challenges take her, otherwise don't take her class.
She is a very disorganized teacher who does not know how to use D2L, and has no desire to learn. Your assignments are poted in several places so they are hard to find, and she will not accept late work. Weekly quizzes and tests are very difficult. She is also a very harsh grader.
Stacey is an amazing professor. If you're looking to really learn and understand chemistry I would recommend her over most professors at PCC. Although her classes can be difficult and she is very anal on how exactly she wants things done, you will exceed in chemistry later on.
Stacey engaged as many teaching tools as possible in her class. There was lecture with questions that were answered via clickers, group activities, online and written homework (which was able to be done the night before easily enough) and explained everything very thoroughly. Excellent instructor and very specific about what she expects.
Can come off as slightly intimidating. Seems genuinely interested in her work and helping students learn but expects that you put in the work.
You can tell Stacey enjoys teaching chemistry. She finds time to help her students and isn't a boring person. However, she treats her students like children. Always lecturing us and constantly implying we can do better. She is an extremely hard grader and the way she does it is sometimes inconsistent. She will take points off for no reason.
Took 151 with Fiddler and good god, this teacher over-complicated everything! How she managed to make the simple stuff hard e.g. sig figs in 151 Ill never know. Tests were extremely hard and shes a harsh nitpicky grader. She also uses the awful masteringchemistry system. Dull, uninformative lectures. Loves using confusing examples. STAY AWAY.
Fiddler seems like a nice person but she makes way too much work for herself. Tends to treat students like children and is way too intense for a 200 level community college instructor. I will say the rotating seating chart was annoying at first, but the whole class got fairly close which was nice (more people to work with), and unusual for college.
Very sweet, but unorganized to the point where it would interfere with learning from mistakes on homework and lab reports. Grading is extremely long and causes a lot of anxiety.
Stacey is an amazing teacher. She caters to every type of learning style and makes sure that students grasp the material. She held study sessions for our class on her own time! and she is willing to help during office hours. Clear expectations. If you want to really learn chemistry, take her.
Stacey is lovely as a person, but In my opinion she doesn't teach chemistry, she instructs and expects you to go figure it out on your own. My learning style didn't fit well with her teaching style at all and it was a very frustrating class for me and the group I worked with. Fast paced and very group focused. Wants us to learn in group not ask her
Stacey is more than likely a good professor but not for Ch 151. Lectures are extremely heavy utilizing mainly power point. It leaves little to no time to explain new concepts. You work in groups but when everyone struggles you leave class confused. Be prepared for statements like you should know this and be prepared to be treated like a child.
She treats adults like children. You will be assigned hours of pointless homework and be graded super hard. She is very polite to regularly remind her students to withdrawal from her class. Avoid!!
Disrespectful of students who question her grading or any flaws in the homework. Doesn't answer questions, just repeats the same thing she said in a condescending tone. Grading is a nightmare. For example: if you staple pages out of order you lose 25% on the assignment. Does help disabled students though, which is a big plus. Would not recommend!
Good instructor but so much work.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Literally the WORST teacher in the whole Chemistry Department. She patronizes students all the time. She posts incomplete PowerPoints and her notes are confusing, overcomplicated and uninformative. She is a VERY harsh and picky grader. She assigns A LOT of homework which is unnecessary and you learn nothing from it. Avoid her.
Ok, sure, I got like 100% in the class, but I would NOT take her again. As the others say, she treats every student like a middle schooler. Assigned seats, check. Talked down to, check. Overexplains everything which makes topics confusing. Tests aren't bad but she is a PICKY grader, points off for every misstep. But, there is some EC.
Forced into her class by the system unfortunately but next time I'm going to a different campus. Nitpicky grader. Treats adults like children. Counts attendance towards grade. Too much tedious work and confusing lectures from unorganized explanations. Had her for 151, same experience.
She's super high strung and gets agitated by simple things. The best way I could describe her would be "high mom energy" she makes things more complicated than they need to be, rushes things, hypes everything up to be the MOST IMPORTANT lesson to be learned. She needs things to be done her way or partial credit is given.
There's a lot of reviews about her treating other people like kids in person. However, online i think she's the perfect teacher. Organized. Caring. Clear expectations. She assigns a lot of homework but all gen chem classes are like that. It all reinforces the learning . I think the MC assi. is a bit excessive. Also, She explains things well.
Stacey is such a kind person, and very understanding. She gave extensions whenever I asked for them, which was really nice. She knows a lot about chemistry, but isn't good at conveying concepts clearly. Lots of enthusiasm, but does ramble/repeat herself frequently in lectures. We had a lot of homework each week, and an exam every other week.
Stacey is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher, and I've thoroughly enjoyed taking her class. While she is sometimes condescending in her lectures/emails and inconsistent with her grading, it's important to remember that this is her classroom, her lab, and she can run it however she wants. If you can respect that, get ready to learn a lot. Loved it.
So much work. Kind person.
I would love to give credit where credits due. Stacey is extremely kind and responded to all my emails in a timely manner. I do believe she wants her students succeeds. This class however was extremely intense and the inconsistent grading gave me so much anxiety. If you have no other classes you might do okay. It's a TON of work.
Lectures are prerecorded and often do not have step by step solutions. She's a tough grader, especially on exams, and there is an ridiculous amount of homework every week (even for 5 credit classes). Prelab, Lab, PostLab, MC hw, written hw, refelctions on learning, on top of hrs of lecture videos and exams every 2 weeks. Expect to put in work.
Worst teacher I've had. Everything was graded super late and little feedback was provided. By just the middle of the term nearly all of my classmates were frustrated with her.
Missed lab sessions, never gave proper explanations or even good example problems, in understandable instructions on hws, nearly 10hrs of hw a week. Most of my class failed because we were so behind by like week 5 (out of 10). She also basically didnt grade anything till like finals week
Stacey cares immensely about student learning to a fault. She has extremely high standards and will grade accordingly. Even when you get the right answer, if you skipped any of the intermediate steps she will dock you (who gives a crap if you don't sigfig your intermediate steps if they are right in the final answer??). Huge amount of work.
I don't know why Professor Fiddler got so many negative reviews. I took a class with her last term and could not be more happier. She answered emails quickly, provided all necessary explanations. Tests are based on the lessons materials (you can use notes/book). Each week you have a lab. Labs can be time consuming but this is a science class.
I've had luck in the past with my chemistry instructors but, Stacy was the opposite. She didn't give clear instructions then would dock points. She will put 0% on work done correctly. She will accuse you of cheating. I barley survived her. The only instructor at pcc that I've really not liked. Do yourself a favor and stay away from her class.
You can tell that Stacey puts a lot of time into her class. But you will need to spend a LOT of time working in this class. Any homework assignment or lab took me HOURS even though the content was pretty easy, just very time consuming. Most of the work time is spent on reading the long pages of instructions that Stacey writes. Great teacher though
Stacey is a strict grader and every little mistake will be marked. however, she will help you if you are struggling and explain lab concepts and help you work through problems. She gives tips on how to be successful in her class and recommends a lot of practice to better your skills. She will leave very clear feedback on your work.
Professor Fiddler's class is challenging but rewarding. The labs are time-consuming, but reading the textbook and using resources like Unstuck ai can really help. Overall, a great learning experience.
absolutely the worst professor I have ever had.She is extremely tough grader. She would cut off marks for a simple spelling error. She would want you to use the exact words on the book and accuses you of cheating if you use a different terminology. The Homeworks are like another 4 credit hour classes. you would spend the whole day and still not finish
Tough grader and the online lab costs 200 dollars and the textbook costs 80, and both mandatory. Homework is 3-5 hr lab, 2 hr lectures, quiz every other week, written 2-3 [age assignments almost weekly, and up to1 chapter of the textbook weekly.
Stacey is a very caring and understanding professor. The is a lot of homework assigned and it is so hard to finish it within the due date but she gives an extension whenever you ask for it. i dont know why she got so many bad reviews but she is the type of person who would work with you even if you miss an exam.
Teacher was nice however lectures were sometimes confusing and grading points kept getting changed or dropped.
