he should not be teaching math. HE IS HORRIBLE!!! You'd think college algebra would be easy because you took algebra in high school... but NO ONE does well in his class... NO ONE!!! DON"T TAKE HIM... EVER!!!!

Oh my, avoid this class at all costs. Half the students dropped in one month and the survivors are in a losing battle with this guy.

Had to drop this class because it was so impossible. Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! Everyone had to drop this class and if they stayed (which was 3 people) they were all failing

This guy is an terrible teacher. If you want to feel stupid when you go to his office for help, he is your man. His H.W. is impossible and laborious and you don't get much credit for it. He went to Cal-Tech and so should you if you can pass his class.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS. Impossible teacher and its only college algebra. I had to drop this class. Everyone still in that class is failing.

Wow! He is too smart for himself. Put it like this, since I was 5 math has been my strongest and favorite class until now. I missed the class drop deadline and cry myself to sleep everyday cause of it. I decided to take this class over at a jc just so i wouldn't take the final. Drop class or fail!!!

DO NOT TAKE! Majority of the class dropped midway through the semester. Such a waste, he is an awful teacher. You don't learn****. Exams, homework.. everything is irrelevant and he made me hate math.

Drop this class, even if you are good at math or took Calc in high school you will not di well in this class. The lessons are irrelevent to the tests and quizes and the class has no logical order. He will make you not like math. Drop this class!!!

The worst teacher I've ever had, period. Barely passed, and now my GPA must suffer because of a class that should be simple. Passed this class no problem in the 8th grade, but because of "professor" Langton, this version is nearly impossible. A complete joke--this man should not be allowed to teach this course. Stay clear.

THIS WAS THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN.... absolutely the most unclear, strangest, awful teacher i can imagine. Makes no sense, actually made up an entire section of math. Our first test, I got 40 out of 100... i got the highest grade in the class... average was 8 out of 100. DROP IMMEDIATELY!

This guy is terrible. He's incredibly unfair and grades really hard. He's not helpful in his office hours either, unless you sit in there with him for an hour and coax the answers out of him. He doesn't seem to like to help people. Seriously...don't take his class.

This class was ridiculously hard!! He doesn't explain anything in class or in office hours and gives the students he likes more credit on tests and homework. Completly UNFAIR! Do not take this class whatever you do! This cannot be called college algerbra, its not algebra, just random things that don't make sense, inlcuding the book from the 1800'

He carries an air horn when he walks to class, enough said he is crazy. Its not math he teaches, im not even sure what it was.

Teaches more about theorems and proof than actual math and computations. Difficult to know what he wants from you.

Taking this class was the worst decision of my life. I was failing after 2 weeks and eventually dropped it. Later I took college algebra with another teacher and got an A. Do not take this class!!!

Horrible, horrible professor!!! Nothing you learn is of any value. He has a whole theory he made up that you have to learn. No one else in the world uses it!!! Plus the text book he uses is from the 1950s and no longer in print. Don't even take this class as a last resort. I had to withdraw and retake it with another professor.

If you want to take a class by a gnome with Tourette's then this is the class for you. He does not make sense, his book is from the 50's and he makes up all his rules. He does not give partial credit and I received a 3% on his exam after passing AP Calc in High School. Avoid him at all costs.

langton is a joke. i HATE him. i'm surprised he can see when all that fur is covering his face. he walks to school with a blow horn and honks at people and cars that drive by. he is a creepy old man, who needs to retire!

Langton honestly really hurt my freshman experience at USD. This teacher damages the supposed great reputation of their professors. Everybody fails his tests and gets 0's on the homework because it's not his likings. DO NO TAKE THIS CLASS. The only way everyone can be happy if every single person drops his class and he cannot damage anyone exp.

Longton is the wooooooorst prof. in USD. he gives a homework on a subject that he didnt teach about . His test are very hard + he is a hard grader. i got an F & i got the highest grade in class.DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF.

I'm begging you not to take Stacey Langton's class. It's college algebra... not a math logic class. I have never been so confused in a class before. He lets you make corrections on tests and quizzes but its literally impossible to get 100% on anything. I have never worked so hard for possibly a C in my life... to anyone taking him, GOODLUCK!

Dr. Langton is the most difficult professor I've ever taken. His lectures have little to do with the homework and the tests and quizzes only loosely reflect the concepts he attempts to teach. Be prepared to do hours of homework in between classes and get test scores around 50%. He curves the class a lot so people rarely fail, but most of us got C's

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Langton is such a bad teacher, one of the worst if not the worst I've ever had. During his class lectures, he jumps around all over the place making it hard to keep track of what is going on. His grading criteria is super weird, somehow quizzes are 20 points, but homeworks are 50 points, and are very hard. TERRIBlE TEACHER!!!

Literally the worst professor I have had. I honestly dont think any other university has someone this bad. When you curve a 38% to a C you know something is wrong. I wish these werent filtered because I cant stress enough how bad this class is. Quiz every week on stuff he didnt lecture.

Quite literally the worse professor I've ever had. He lectures about things that aren't related to the quiz and homework, he teaches and expects you to learn laws of math that don't actually exist (Associative Law for Subtraction and Balance Numbers), and his office hours are worse than the class.

If you want to have your GPA go down, take his class. He encourages you NOT to go to his office hours, his quizzes and tests arent at all what you do in class, and his "math" isn't math, its nonsensical.

This professor is the worst teacher I have ever had EVER. If you want to learn absolutely nothing or learn about the numbers he makes up; for example a "twiddle" then feel free to take his class. Office hours DO NOT help. His homework is out of 50 points and getting a 30% on a test translates into a C, clearly this shows that something is wrong.

If your looking for an easy math class DO NOT TAKE his college algebra class. He tries to explain simple concepts like addition and subtraction as if it is an upper division math class. office hours will get you no where, do not recommend

Hes a terrible professor. Pre-Med/Pre-Dental students or anyone who cares about their GPA do not take this class. Take it in the summer or elsewhere. I would say Im excellent at Algebra, but this, this wasnt algebra. More of a logics class that doesnt even make sense. Everyone left lecture confused and everyone failed exams. DONT TAKE.

He literally came into class one day and taught about a math concept he had in a DREAM. All the homework is pre-outlined in his syllabus so there will always be homework due every class. Lectures are awful and confusing. Entire class failed a test and he refused to go over any of the problems on the test because "it wouldn't be beneficial".

Worst professor Ive ever taken. Discusses a topic/equation/method of problem solving then spends 95% writing out the proof for the equation, going on random tangents, talking about random quantum mechanics functions, his favorite mathematicians and physicists, but he never does examples or shows how to apply the equation, and 310 is Applied math

He was the worst professor I have ever had. I cannot believe USD allows him to continue teaching. He made college algebra (which I was good at in hs) into something resembling math logic; he would make things up, made it impossible to do well on tests, gave math tests in the BLUE BOOK (???), not accessible & very confusing. every1 in class got a C.

Dr. Langton has a great sense of superiority. He's very picky with his assignments and teaches from a textbook that resembles the ramblings of an author that does not understand their audience. He thinks things are "so simple", and when you ask for help, he will just breeze through explanations without really making sense of it.

Langton is the most difficult, and worst teaching professor I have had in any math class. He lectures are very difficult to follow. The notes I would try to take from lectures rarely made any sense when I tried to go back and use them either to study or for HW. HW is different than the lectures and the tests seem random. IDK how USD endorses him.

He makes examples at home, will get lost when copying it to the board, and will stand there for minutes not knowing what's wrong. Sometimes his examples are wrong and he won't know how to fix it. Assigns homework before explaining it in class. The textbook doesn't help at all. The curve and test corrections are the only saving grace.

I took Stats in high school and I realized he's terrible because it's hard to understand him and his quizzes are random. I have to read and self taught to learn. I don't rec this class unless u really need it.

He once took 17 points off of a 20 point test question because I didn't say why 5656. This class will ruin your GPA. Would rate 0 if I could. do not listen to the positive reviews

I believe Dr. Langton cares that his students learn and wants them to. However, there is a major disconnect in teaching style, choice of textbook (ancient and extremely difficult to learn from), and exams that are near-impossible when compared to the hw problems assigned. If taking for higher-level math, expect an extremely difficult time.

Get ready to teach yourself. This professor does not teach well. Me and a group ended up buying a Udemy course to learn since he is a terrible professor. His whole class is super lecture heavy and he is not very flexible. I asked him to do group work and he legit said he doesn't teach like that instead of taking it into consideration. DO NOT TAKE

This professor is the worst one I have had. He is a very tough grader. He marked my answer in a test wrong because I did not use his method of simplification. The amazing thing about math is that there are various ways of simplifying or getting the results of a problem, but this professor has only one way, which is HIS way. Worst decision ever

His Lectures don't make sense, the way he explains math makes it confusing even if it's basic algebra. He uses an old book from 1900s that doesn't even make sense. His methods are confusing and AVOID TAKING HIS CLASS. He is bad at explaining and makes up his own math. On the first day of class, he said 'everything you have been taught is WRONG'.

Dropped 4 weeks in when he taught about a lesson that "came to him in a dream". He uses a textbook from the 1900s and makes up his own math like balanced numbers. He prides himself on teaching math in a way that no one else does, but fails to realize that "his way" is going to set everyone who takes his class up for failure in calculus. Don't take.

Review before this was spot on. This should be a philosophy class instead because he spends more time talking about "why math is" which was strange and unhelpful for exams.

Avoid this professor if possible - they have a very rigid teaching style that doesn't align with standard math practices. If you must take this class, use unstuck study and other study tools to supplement the outdated textbook and prepare for the challenging exams.

Langton is not a good professor. He over complicates everything. He makes up his own "math" in lecture and claims it as true and part of the cirriculum. Exams and assignments barely reflect what's actually covered in class. If you value your sanity (or your GPA), do yourself a favor and take this class with literally anyone else.

Dr. Langton evaluates concepts based off of confusing problems that don't adequately measure students' success on practical exercises - purely basing exams off of complicated, verbose questions that seem aimed to confuse rather than testing synthesis of concepts is ineffective, lazy teaching from a prideful professor. Do not take. I would not wear a seatbelt on the way to class in the hopes I got into a wreck and could not attend it.

Avoid at all costs. Didn't learn anything. Half the class failed/dropped by the end. The textbook is an ancient stone tablet with indecipherable scratches and he speaks in hieroglyphics. You *probably* won't fail the class even if your grades are trash. Go with Pruski

Do not take him. He does not know how to teach. He is a terrible grader. He grades math homework for accuracy, yet doesn't teach what is on the homework half the time. The textbook is the worst math textbook I have ever seen. He also rarely responds to emails. save yourself and go with a different professor.

Do NOT take this class. It does not matter how badly you need the credit, it is not worth it. The grading is laughably inconsistent, the office hours are not at all helpful, and the class itself is damn near impossible to follow. This guy is an absolute GPA terrorist. Oh and you'll know your grade, he doesnt post anything to canvas.

All class he would tell us that everything we learned in schools was wrong. He did quizzes every Monday. He also had us using a book published in 1958. He is 80 years old and should retire. His grades are good because an A is 80-100%, but we don't know our grades, even going into finals week.
