avoid! took an easy gen-ed class and made it 100x more difficult than it needed to be. Unprepared, disorganized and made expectations unclear. Based the final exam on about 900 slides of STUDENT presentations and gave out some bootleg study guide last minute. On top of it all, comes off as arrogant and disconnected with students. Get rid of him.
Really unhelpful, not clear with class materials. Really strict on everything.
He does make more advanced than it should be for a 1000 level, it still is not that hard. You need to attend class and take notes off his lecture because not much is posted online. If you can get over this, then I found that his notes in class were very thorough and gave you everything you needed for exams, you just need to be able to memorize
Dont pay attention to the negative comments. This class is fun. Hes super nice, easygoing, and funny. He lets you leave early everyday and simplifies everything! Theres alot of bio, but if you find nutrition interesting then youll easily understand.
super nice guy but horrible teacher. DO NOT take this class with him, especially if you're expecting an easy A. his test questions come out of no where and contradict with any real science class. His knowledge is outdated and will confuse you. take this class with any other teacher
To the person saying his knowledge is outdated...you're wrong. He's a registered dietitian, PhD, and ex-combat medic, he knows what he's talking about. He's incredibly intelligent, funny, and makes the class enjoyable. If you're interested in nutrition, take this class.
Stacey includes way too much material for an introductory nutrition class. I took it concurrently with Bio 1107 which is notoriously difficult and thought that class was easier than his. He also words his exam questions very poorly and includes information not covered in lecture. There's random extra credit for coming to class but it's not enough.
He's a very smart professor. Knows everything he teaches inside in out, but has a tendency to makes exams harder than they should be with more information than was covered in lecture. Exams are very tricky, but if you attend class everyday you'll get extra credit, and if you study pretty hard an A isn't impossible. If not willing to do that, avoid.
He takes forever to reply to emails and when he does, he drags your question out further (ex. see me next week). I study for his exams a week before and take physics, calc and chem and honestly this nutrition class is my hardest. When he see's a bunch of students not grasping the material he simply blames the study habits. He's Smart but AVOID!
1st half: Decent lectures & an easy exam. Extra credit for showing up to class. 2nd half: Assignments confusing & contradictory to the syllabus. Final exam was based on 30 student presentations (900+ slides posted 5 days before the exam). He told us the exam structure & content (cumulative!) on the last class. Good intentions, poor instructor.
Admitting: This class is very difficult. However, this is one class that I'm happy I took because of how much I'm learning. The tests are hard, I study days in advance for them. But, if you want to learn really great material, and work hard at the same time, take this class. He offers a ton of extra credit, the projects are easy as well.
Tough class especially for an intro class. I attend AND record every single lecture and study weeks before the exams. I'm confident when going in for the exams but the questions are tricky! Avoid this class, you're better off taking it with another professor!!
He's a nice guy but he moves REALLY quickly through a lot of scientific material that seems a little bit much for an intro class, especially if you have difficulty with science. Gives tons of extra credit which really helps but exams are hard. Very inaccessible outside of class. Definitely take 1165 with a different professor.
Disorganized. Confusing presentation of class material. Tests seem designed to trick students. Even if you attend every class, study for weeks in advance, and write down everything he says, you will never get higher than a C on the tests. Bottom Line: Avoid this professor if you can.
Tough class. Would promise reviews then not respond to emails and never post. Gave extra credit thankfully because tests were VERY hard with only one 2 pt curve. Felt like things were always thrown together last minute. Got out of class early every day, but it'd almost be better to stay and have things elaborated on. Nice/smart but bad professor.
Avoid this teacher. I went into the class with a lot of interest, and instead took NOTHING from it. His teaching style is way too unorganized and on every exam I came across material I had never seen before. He gives a lot of extra credit, but you will barely learn anything from the class and will struggle with the exams.
This professor is challenging but if you are interested in learning about how nutrition affects the body, then you will learn a lot. Exams are hard but the extra credit curves them to the grade that you should earn. Dr. Mobley is nice and approachable and if you try hard then he will help you. But if you are lazy then you are in trouble
I have never learned so much from a professor. The exams are hard but the extra credits help. He covers a lot of stuff about how nutrition affects health. One of the best professors that I have had who teaches science. Excellent prof!!
If you do not want to put a lot of effort to learn, do not take this prof. But if you really want to learn about nutrition science and health, then he rocks! Great prof but you HAVE to study to get a good grade.
Dr. Mobley's exams are IMPOSSIBLE. You have to attend every class and write down everything he says, since he barely posts anything online. There's a lot of extra credit, but it's not enough to make up for the exams. Oh, and don't bother buying the textbook, he doesn't follow it at all. If you're looking for an easy gen-ed, this isn't it.
This guy is the worst. Firstly, he gives incorrect information. Besides this big problem, he is disinterested in teaching, has the class get out early every time, goes way too fast, and is virtually inaccessible out of class. He said to not buy the book yet his exams were designed to trick students and don't include information from class.
Awesome dude. TERRIBLE professor. Doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time. Exams are virtually impossible and I got the lowest grade I've ever received in my life in this class. My advice: Take this class with someone else. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Good guy, knows what he's talking about..but terrible professor. He goes so quickly and his tests are incredibly difficult. If you are looking to just fill a GenEd, do NOT take this class with him. You have to go to class to get close to a 70 on an exam.
You will do poorly if you do not attend class or don't pay attention. His tests are difficult but if you study they are very manageable. I really enjoyed this class however do not take it expecting to breeze through it.
Worst professor I have ever had. He made the exams the night before we took them, they had tons of typos and content we never covered in class. He won't respond to emails, has no office hour and he showed up late everyday. I am a BIO major and this class has been my lowest grade so far. Don't take this class. My biggest regret so far at UCONN.
DO NOT TAKE Nusc WITH THIS PROFESSOR!:(
Go to class! The book is not needed and you literally have to write down every word he says. Its not hard to pay attention his lectures are very interesting and he's really funny. The exams are very difficult however the projects and extra credit are a huge help. I thought I would get a C in this class for sure but I managed to finish with a B!
Nutrition is my passion, but this was the worst class I have ever taken. His tests are tricky and not indicative of class material. He teaches outdated and incorrect Information not backed by reputable science. Extremely unorganized, virtually impossible to study for exams. Not to mention he is an extremely annoying person. Don't buy the textbook.
This class is my major so I found it very interesting but his tests are pretty tricky. Make sure you know the material well for the tests and don't go into this class thinking it's an easy A. Also make sure you go to all the classes because he will randomly give extra credit to the only people that were in class which is very helpful
Go to class and you will be fine. Study the material. The final is on 30+ student presentations but he tells you how to study for it. He's an incredibly understanding professor even though he seems intimidating. You will learn a lot from the class, just be willing to make notecards and attend class for extra credit 20+ points of it
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IT IS HORRIBLE. Mobly is seriously the most scatterbrained, idiotic prof ive had at uconn. he doesnt care about his students at all - wont answer emails, no office hours, and his notes are TERRIBLE. stuff on exams isnt covered in class at all and he is SUPER confusing!! LACKS COGNITIVE/COMMUNICATIVE ABILITIES
Mobley is one of the most energetic entertaining professors I have ever had. I actually look forward to his lecturing. As for his exams, they are unbelievably vague and tricky. So much material has to be known for them and it is quite stressful because he never really emphasizes main points. All in all, very great guy.... hard class
class has so many power points you can't even think straight. he likes to jump around on things but at the same time he's a good guy.. prepare to study
I honestly LOVED class with him. He is so nice and funny. His exams are difficult, but if you go to class and pay attention you're set. Sometimes he does "pop quizzes" which are something really random like "what color is this notebook" to see who came to class and you get extra credit for that. He made the class very interesting.
He's so much fun. He really tries to keep the class interesting. He gives lots of examples and diagrams to make sure everyone gets the idea. Be sure to attend class as there isn't a book.
so much energy and enthusiasm from such a great guy.. can't wait to take his other nutrition class in the fall.
Dr. Mobley is the best! He really cares about the students learning and he is funny. I would absolutely take his class. You have to come to class but he makes it interesting and funny.
If you're looking for a gen ed this class is a good choice, especially if you took bio or have a science background. Don't take 1165 with this guy if you're a nutrition major or you're actually interested in the class because you'll feel like you're five years old. I've never cared less about nutrition than when Stacey was teaching it.
Dr. Mobley's class is really fun. He makes class fun and I learn so much. I have actually changed my major to nutrition because of him. He is definitely more interesting than other professors that I have had.
He is awesome! People always say bad things about him but he is seriously nice. He may talk to us like kids but the guys has an infant and a 5 year old at home. He gives out loads of Extra Credit and the exams are easy enough. Don't buy the book
Found my passion in this class. You do need to always attend because there's no reason to miss any extra credit. Office hours are very helpful, make sure you have questions ready. He will give you a boost to your grade if you come in and see him. Study your notes in class and the powerpoints.
I don't know where to begin with this class. Mobley's nice and means well but he gets things mixed up. Literally will tell you the exact opposite of what's in the book and people went back to him several times to correct incorrect answers on the exams. That makes this class hard. Go to class and study the lecture notes, you should do well enough.
Dr. Mobley is awesome! He actually cares about student's learning. The class is fun and you should defintely get an A or B if you go to class and study.
Great class! Great prof!
I enjoyed Dr Mobleys nutrition class. I appreciated him taking the time to help me when I came to his office hours. It's very clear how much he cares about your students. I learned so much this semester! Looking forward to hopefully taking more of his classes in the future.
Dr. Mobley is awesome. He makes the class fun and I am never bored like my other classes. And I will probably get an A.
I learned a ton in this class! Information that will stick with me all four years here at UConn and beyond. I've already started teaching my friends, family and teammates.
Definitely take this professor. I will be taking more courses by him in the future for sure. You will have fun, learn lots, and get a good grade.
I really enjoyed his teaching style. Great class and best professor I 'be had here
Very interesting class. The prof makes it even more interesting. Got an A . Definitely one of the best Gen Ed classes.
Dr. Mobley is so helpful and even remembered my name throughout the course. He made coming to class fun and interesting, and he gives a lot of extra credit. You dont need the book, just come to class and take notes and you'll get an A.
You gotta take this professor for the Gen Ed class. I was never bored out of my mind like the others and he is definitely fair. Some of his stories about the " world" are so funny. Come to class and you will get extra credit on silly stuff ...... Like drawing a pix of ur first day of school or drawing a pix of his baby dunking a basketball
Good class
So interesting class. Professor Mobley is really engaging and the extra credit really helps. He shows YouTube videos on different cultures and the are funny!
He puts all of his slides on huskyct but I HIGHLY recommend going to lecture because he gives extra credit in class and hints to answers on the exams. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I never used it for anything. All you need to know is what he talks about in class. He's a very down to earth guy and I enjoyed getting to know him. TAKE ANY CLASS WITH MOBLEY
Mobley is a great guy and actually kind of funny. Class was very straight forward. His exams can be hard but nothing he hasn't directly taught you will be on them. The projects are simple and there's never any homework or papers.
Love this class and professor. He cracks me up in class. Extra credit if you go to class.
He is a pretty cool guy. He explains everything you need to know on the exams. Just study a day or two before hand. Extra credit if you attend class.
I was incredibly disappointed by this class. It''s definitely easy- you get extra credit the group project isn''t complicated and if you go to class the exams aren''t hard. The downside is that Mobley states stereotypes as facts and you don''t actually gain a better understanding of different cultures just his incorrect perceptions of them.
He's an interesting lecturer, funny and charismatic in class but outside of it, especially after, he seems to favor some students over others. I felt like he dismissed me the one time I confronted him about something. The material isn't hard, but sometimes I wish it was a bit not complex because I overthink it a little thinking it should be harder.
He is definitely insightful regarding the many cultures around the world because of his experiences. Everything is clear and he makes the class fun. Lots of extra credit.
Fun class! Mobley makes it easy and you can always talk to him. Not like other professors he's cool
Love this class! Mobley keeps the class interesting. Hope to get an A
My favorite class!
So much fun! Super interesting and Mobley makes us laugh!
Best class ever! I'm going to change my major to Nutritional Sciences. Professor Mobley makes it super interesting and I like to go to his class.
Very interesting class. Professor Mobley makes it interesting and let's us know why things are important. I would definitely recommend it
He really helps you do well on the exams. Lectures are interesting and he tells funny stores. Definitely recommend it
Very interesting class. Mobley's a cool dude and he's not like most other professors.
My favorite class. Decided to change my major to nutrition. He definitely prepares us for exams.
Dr. Mobley is by far my favorite professor. His lectures are entertaining, and he is hilarious. He always says he wants us to learn, but he also wants us to do well, so he gives a lot of extra credit for stupid things. I definitely recommend this course with him.
FUNNIEST professor I've had up here by far. He is very kind, intelligent, and helpful- he really cares about the students and wants everyone to pass with good grade. ATTEND LECTURE, it's not boring and he give so much extra credit to those that go. His exams are fair and as long as you study class notes, you'll do well.
My favorite class and favorite professor. I would like to take more classes by Dr. Mobley. He makes it interesting and fun to go to class.
Mobley rocks! Wants us to learn but also do well in the course. He is definitely funny. I will definitely take another class with him. Better go to class
Super nice professor and the class is interesting!
Fun class. My favorite.
My favorite class. I love it!
Professor Mobley really takes time with us so we do well. He stayed after class with us to give feedback on our projects and he is always willing to answer questions. For a Gen Ed class, it's very interesting.
I love this class! Definitely my fav! And Professor Mobley is SUPER nice.
Easy A. I would recommend going to class as often as you can, that's how you get extra credit, plus a lot of the stuff he says verbally may not be on his power-points. Make sure you refresh your memory on the earlier stuff before you take your final though, its what brought my overall grade down.
Awesome GenEd! Class is really interesting and Mobley often let us out early. The class is an easy A and he often rewards students for going to class by offering extra credit points. The midterm was take-home and the final was very simple, and there was not any homework besides a project and a paper. Do not buy the textbook--did not open it once!
So far, the best class and professor I have had at UCONN!!!!!! Super interesting and Professor Mobley makes it fun to come to class.
Mobley is the man. His lectures are super interesting and he's so funny. Go to class because he gives a ton of extra credit and sometimes what he says aren't on his powerpoints. He lets class out early a lot so there's no reason to skip. I love him so much I would take this class again.
Professor Mobley makes it fun to come to class. He always says something in class that makes me laugh. A lot of information but very interesting. Definitely would take more classes taught by him. Best professor so far at UCONN!!!!!
Best class ever and he is so enthusiastic and funny. The exams are fair but you do need to go to class because a lot of stuff is not in the powerpoints and he writes on the dry erase board a lot. But I like that. It much easier to understand.
The class rocks! Can't wait to take his other course. I never get bored in class.
One of my favorite professors. The lectures are entertaining and he is super nice! The exams are not hard but you have to go to class.
Good professor, with a good sense of humor. Material is pretty straight forward but you have to go to class.
Really nice guy and creates a very positive atmosphere in class. If you have taken BIOL 1107, this class will be very easy. If you haven't, it might be a little harder to understand what is going on. You NEED to go to class if you want to do well. He expects you to take notes on what he says and that is what he tests you on. Assignments are easy.
Makes class fun. I liked that he was engaged with the class and he was super nice and approachable. One of my favorite professors ever!
He gives a lot of extra credit, I wish he taught all of the courses that I am taking. Lets you out early every class, (mostly every). Cracks jokes throughout of class, Super easy syllabus, assignments, notes. He's kinda cute. I would take his class over a million times if I could.
Dr. Mobley was great, he really made the class interesting and enjoyable. Going to class is mandatory, not all (sometimes none) of the information is available online. As long as you show up, take notes, and look them over before the (easy) exams, there is no way you won't do well. Don't buy the textbook
Dr. Mobley is great! He made the class interesting and enjoyable. I learned a lot and it was definitely my favorite class this semester.
Dr. Mobley makes class enjoyable and I always looked forward to going to class. My favorite professor and class this semester.
Great professor who makes his class interesting and worth showing up to. He understands that each student comes from a different background. Knowing this he teaches his class in a way everyone can understand and be engaged. If you sow up it is better to learn and class is fun!
Easiest teacher I've ever had. Hilarious, relatable, and makes learning the material fun and easy. Love this guy! Plus he's pretty cute!
Dr. Mobley is an amazing professor. He guides you through the entire material step by step you just need to show up to class when he decides to write on the board and take detailed notes. He always gives out extra credit and will do anything to make sure you pass the class. Highly recommended professor.
Best professor I've had at UCONN so far!!
He is my favorite professor so far at UConn. I absolutely loved this class, he made lectures and learning the material so fun I actually enjoyed going to class.
Stacey is an awesome professor. Absolutely no book needed. Definitely need to go to class to take notes from his PowerPoints. The material is pretty simple and I only studied for less than 2 hours for each exam. He gives study guides so you can base your studying around those but they are not completely comprehensive. Overall, a really good guy.
Favorite professor so far. Gives very animated and interesting lectures. He is not kidding when he says you need to attend class to pass- his slides posted online are very incomplete. Often gives in class extra credit and his exams are very fair. Overall, if you're looking for a fun, easy class take 1165 with him!
The grades are very fair, and only 3 big assignments during the semester. We always will have extra credit, and that is very helpful for your GPA. The lectures are very amazing, and every Powerpoint's content will be in exams. Just reviewing the powerpoints before the exams and you will be fine.
Mobley is the best professor I have had so far. He has 3 "big" assignments which are all fairly easy and 3 exams. Going to class is key because he gives out random extra credits just for showing up and sometimes writes on the board rather than going through his powerpoints. Hes hilarious in class and you wont be mad going to lecture cause hes fun.
BEST PROFESSOR OUT THERE. Hilarious and makes lectures very interesting. Wish this semester wasn't ending. He is the man
Amazing Professor! Easy class as long as you show up and take notes. Gives out a ton of extra credit for just showing up to class!
He is energetic and direct. You will learn a lot while also earning good grades. I barely had to study because he repeated the important information so much (everything ties in). He does "five minute rewinds" each class to refresh your memory and goes over all the specifics--content-wise--on the test the class before as well as sends out a guide.
If it was in my hands I would have taken every class that he teaches. Such an amazing professor. He is caring and understanding will work with the students to bring up their grades. he is really good with grading papers and assignments. His extra credits are so good.
Loved him! He was so good and his lectures were super interesting. I definitely think it's an easy A, just go to class and take notes. I'm not a morning person and this class is at 9am but im so glad a took it, worth waking up early. Also he offers tons of extra credit all the time and the 2 assignments he gave us were so easy.
