Makes the class fun and interesting. Creates a friendly, comfortable atmosphere
Grades way too harshly, plays dumb pointless games
Class is easy as long as you go, she's rude, and enjoys embarassing people a lot
SHES HOT!!! the class is cool too i guess
easy class, i would suggest taking it
A Brilliant teacher! Hot too!!

Funny, makes you feel comfortable, very organized syllabus
Very personable. Very funny. Very helpful
I don't know where last comments are, but she is NOT good with students.
Whew, bundle of energy! Be prepared to make a complete fool of yourself in this class.
Was always full of energy, which made it fun and worth going to. I would definitely recommend taking one of her classes.
Staey is awesome. She is always fun of energy. I am a male and I didn't do too well. I'm not sure if that's the reason. Class reminds me of Whos Line Is It Anyways. Fun class...still hang out with my classmates because you will get close to them.

AWESOME!! i liked getting up and going to this class. very helpful. play tons of fun games. best to take this instead of SDA. 4 performances, 4 papers. 100 pts possible.. so don't slack off. best prof i have ever had!
all i have to say is PARTICIPATE to get an A
She was an awesome professor. I really enjoyed on how enthusiastic she was about participation. I really loved that class.
horrible horrible teacher, no respect for students, harsh grader, stupid games, and definitely NOT hot...
AWESOME class, and teacher, she has so much energy, and she asks why i always have to much, take a look at her. participate and you will do fine. her class is a opportunity to meet and become class with so many people b/c the classes are small. wonderful

Willing to help with any problem you're having in class. Treats her students as equals. Fun and encouraging.
She's a wonderful teacher, and gets into what she is teaching. A wonderful acting teacher, and very helpful. The class was such a blast, and I looked forward to it everyday.
She was one of my fave. teachers. Acting was a pretty easy class if you always memorize your lines and come to class.
very nice person
A fun fun class... def one i enjoyed going to! I suggest taking this class with her! :)
she is fun and makes the class easy and enjoyable take her if at all pssible
Greatest class! Stacey rocks, she's tons of fun. I definitly recommend her over other 170 teachers, as my roommate complained every day about how easy I had it...
Great Prof. Easy class. Do less work than other 170 classes, so i have heard. She is easy on the eyes, and make sure to laugh at her jokes.
If she hates you, you know it, even if other people thinks she treats everyone like equals. It made it hard to enjoy the class, or even to want to go. I wish she hadn't chosen to dislike me, because I could've liked her.
She's super cool and laid back. She's young and in touch with the real world. Makes the class very very easy.
Although the class is easy to get through, you still learn alot!
She makes class really fun and makes fun activites. Do not buy the book unless you feel the need to read it, because it is a waste of money. Just read the play she assigns ($3 or find on internet) and that's all you'll need (besides acting talent).
I loved this class. I learned so much and she is such a great professor. She is laid back enough that you feel comfortable with her, yet not too laid back so you do nothing. I learned a lot of really awesome skills in her class. Take it.
She is such a nice person. You will really love this class and the teacher. She can help you out with whatever you need help on. I really enjoyed this class and she made it very fun:)
Stacey is seriously the best teacher ever, she is by far the coolest also.
Stacye is seriously probably my favorite teacher/professor ever! I took her for 182 too and she's just so cool! Do the work (a few papers, but all of them are easy) and if you have problems she's always willing to meet outside class. Totally awesome!
I wasnt into the whole cutesie tootsie thing, came to class, did my thing, did not give her any attitude. she needs to realize that most take this class because its a UP not because we are going to be actors.
She's so much fun and this is the only class I actually look forward to go to. Very laid-back and worth taking!!
Best teacher...very laid back and fun...do your work and you'll be fine!!!
Awesome Teacher she is so much fun, she is so helpful and enthusiastic about acting. Amazing, I suggest her to anyone.
Stacey is the BOMB! She is the coolest professor. I don't know how to explain her and the class but take it to fulfill your oral comp. #1
Needs to realize that a majority of her students are taking this as a UP. Not all students of this class are bound for the stage. If your the slightest bit shy or feel uncomfortable acting like a fool in front of strangers, this is not the class for you. Take a different class is this intended to be a UP. Took class in Spring 00
She was a very good teacher. I am a pretty shy person, and I have never taken a speech class b4. She is very reasonable grader, and she grades based on ur personal improvement. She also gives a ton of time between each assignment to get it done. There are practice days in class to preform which build ur confedience b4 ur graded.
Stacey is a good prof. She's very layed back and wants her students to have fun and relax in class. She really pushes you to get out of your shell and express yourself in class. She'll do anything to help you with your acting/speaking. The only downside is you can't miss more than 3 classes, or it effects your grade.
Great actress and sexy as a kitten.
I'm really shy and didn't want to take this class, but I ended up loving it. It's not really about acting, you mostly just read poems interpretively. The main reason to take Stacey is that she only makes you go to one play when the other profs teaching this course make you go to at least 3. She's really fun and she loves coffee and Johnny Depp :)
Stacy is awesome! She loves coffee and is really energetic. She makes you get off your ass and have fun in class. Not even hard to go to on a Friday afternoon. I always leave in a good mood. 3 papers and 2 memorized performances and 2 unmemorized. She gives you plenty of time to complete assignments. You have to go see a play, but it's ok
Stacey is amazing! I have learned so much from her and I can tell that my skills have improved more in this class than they have in the past 4 years of H.S. drama classes combined.
She is an awesome teacher. She likes to talk to her students about anything. She gives good feedback and her activities are fun to do. Great teacher, you should take her.
Be prepared to talk about ****es, drugs, and lattes. She has great feedback and is amazing. FYI - she has a boyfriend and is not a crazy cat lady. Went two years thinking she was a cat lady.
She is really nice and fun. My class only had one hundred possible points for the whole semester, so make sure you don't slack off. Nothing is unbearable and she is helpful. I would take her again.
Stacey is a great prof, but this class is kind of worthless. Take SDA instead. Went into it thinking it would be an easy A but unless you're a performer you won't do well..grades kind of hard.
awsome teacher, best ive had, you have to take her, she is so freakin amazing....
Highly reccomended. Effort is required, how much of it is up to you, but she is awsome and easy going.
Stacey Pattison is a great Prof. I don't like talking in front of people at all but this class was really fun and she makes it easy to get in front of the class. you do a lot of weird little activities to get you comfortable but they are always really fun. 2 memorized, 2 not memorized performances and two easy papers. take this class!! it's great!
I loved Stacey! She was so sweet and very easy to get along with. I'd take any class she taught. She only makes you do 2 memorized and 2 non memorized performances. There are papers due with the unmemorized performance, but easy. Her craziness made the class fun!! She made it easy to get up in front of the class. Warning: loves her energy drinks!
Stacey Pattison is very unclear with her lectures and is never available to students for further assistance. She is very unprofessional and she is partial to some students more than others. Her background knowledge of the subject that she teaches appears to be very vague and incomplete. I would never recommend any student to take her course.
great teacher. cancels class a lot so you can just go home.
Excellent, knowledgable and well prepared. She will get you out of your comfort zone and push you to do your best. I have learned many skills to help me in future presentations. Highly recommend this class!
Wonderful energetic teacher. She is very passionate about what she teaches. I learned many skills and increased my confidence. Stacey makes learning truly engaging as it should be.
I never liked or understood poetry before taking this class.I now feel more confident in my interpretations of poetry and how you can bring the words to life. Learned a lot! She real pretty too!
Amazing! learned a lot about speaking in front of people. Highly recommended.
Awesome!! Very laid back and easy to talk to. Makes you feel comfortable and gives great feedback to improve speaking skills.
Good Professor. I recommend her!!!
I love Stacey and her class! I'm not a public speaking person, but she really brings the class together and make you feel very comfortable. Plus she's funny as hell!!!
Smokin!!!!
I really enjoyed this class. The performances were fun and challenging, the papers were very easy. There are a lot of in-class games that help prepare you to perform as well as help get people out of their shell. Leave your shyness at the door and prepare to have fun!!
Class sessions were not too difficult, but her grading scale is a joke. Whole class is out of 100 points, so one bad assignment and your grade is shot. She is a complainer and listening to her whine about how often she gets sick, or how bad she needs a red bull got old fast. Take SDA is you want an A
TAKE HER! Great class. just have fun in the class and she will love it. is a very laid back person but strict on her attendance policy and due dates. class is 100 points and they're all easy to get. just do the work(which is simple) and the class will pay off
Funny and laid back classtimes full of fun! Great class...take it with her!
based on the way she grades and corrects papers, i think i may be a better writer than her. moody, get's cranky when people ask questions. "it's on the syllabus."
This class can be easy, if you go and do the work. The papers aren't hard, and you really don't do much in class. She can be nice if you follow the syllabus, and you're on her good side. She can have a bit of an attitude... but a great class to take. 4 performances, or 2 memorized... not too bad. lots of fun games at the beginning =)
Super nice person, but super hard grader. I busted my butt to do better and better every performance and couldn't get a single A...
I love this class. professor was a lot of fun and i was a semi terrible speaker lol now i feel a lot better. i made a ton of friends in the class when we played ice breakers. every assignment i had was 5/5 0r 10/10 ect. just relax and do your work. guaranteed A
i loved this class. it truly takes you to another level. you learn alot about yourself in this class. stacey is great and will help you overcome your fears in public performing.
Stacey does not know her subject matter like she thinks she does. He acting experience is nothing, but she flaunts it like it should matter to all of her students. She also does not take well to students who bring up challenging points in class discussion. she likes students who are moldable. She will feel threatened more intelligent students.
I really liked this class. I made a ton of close friends. She is really laid back and fun. Don't ask her questions, she gets mad and tells you to look at the syllabus. In that class, the syllabus is like the bible. She's nice overall. I went to see her in a play once though, and she was AWFUL!!!!
Horrible professor in my opinion. She is one of those people who can never be wrong and everything has to be done exactly her way. She takes off points for the smallest things, complains about everything in her life, and will often wait until you get to class to tell you she "doesn't feel good," but she will not accept anybody elses "excuses."
The most frustrating part about this class is that she makes assignments worth only a few points, so if you get one point taken off it drops the grade significantly. Overall though it was an alright class, and in my opinion it's better than taking a regular speech class.
My fellow students who complain about Stacey telling us to "look at the syllabus" are stupid and lazy. The syllabus is on blackboard and if you were smart you would print it out. Students ask idiotic questions which are easily answered on the syllabus. It's embarrasing to have them as my peers. She's an excellent professor.
Stacey is an awesome teacher and person. Very encouraging and supportive when it comes to performances. Really just expects you to have common sense and to try your best. I fully recommend her, she's funny and can brighten your day if you're having a bad one. Plus she makes you do "warm-up" stretches before class. First 3-4 classes you play games.
Stacey is wonderful. She not only gave us examples but actually showed them herself. If you want an A, take her. She is pretty laid back. Plus, all we do is play games!
Stacey is a great teacher, she is kind of on the crazy side some days. But got me over my fear of public speaking, overall an amazing teacher.
She is so much fun. She knows how to put you at ease about public speaking. You get to play a lot of games. A really fun class despite having to speak in public.
Fantastic professor! She is really into what she teaches and is straight forward with what she wants. If you have anything you need help with she will gladly help you out. Would highly recommend, made the class awesome! Great professor!
LOVE HER! She is hilarious and this class is so much fun. You play a lot of games and only have 4 speeches to do and a couple of papers. Way better than COM 101.
Loved her! She is so funny and cares about her students. This class was so easy. I would definetely take her!
Super nice and helpful! Just do the readings
Stacey is a great professor! She gets to know her students on a personal level and is great at offering tips for performances! Unlike other TAI 170 classes, I only had to attend 1 play and write 3 short papers. Be sure to practice for performances and you should be fine!
Awesome teacher and awesome class. Stacey made it so much more comfortable to speak in front of people plus she made the class itself better. I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to take this class or who didn't want to take COM 101, like myself.
Very friendly, young, fun teacher. Animated, and really knew how to improve your acting, memorizing, and public speaking. Very easygoing. Class was fun, and Stacey was always willing to help you if you wanted her to listen to your presentation or clarify an assignment. You can't miss more than 3 class periods, but you won't want to!
Of course you have performances in front of the class but she tries to keep them easy. She's very involved and enthusiastic about the class. Great professor. Take her if you have to take TAI 170 because she's the easiest from what I've heard and experienced.
TAKE PATTISON!! I absolutely loved Stacey, she made the class very fun and easy. You have 3 free absences, other than that it's mandatory. She's a very lenient grader for papers and is very easy going with performances, especially the memorized ones. She makes you very comfortable to get up in front of the class to perform. Easy A and great class!
I'm surprised she has so many good reviews.. honestly I thought she was the worst teacher I've ever had.. I mean she was nice.. i guess.. but she pretty much hated and failed everyone who wasn't a theater major. She also has a huge attitude problem and makes it very clear if she likes you or not.
Stacey is a great professor! She really helps you break out of your comfort zone and makes the class a place to feel safe. She expects everything to be done and prepared on time. She also does a great job making you understand what she expects.
Stacey was amazing! I actually looked forward to this class. Improv days are seriously the best stress-relievers. The only thing is on papers you need to directly state something otherwise you will get marked down.
Literally Stacey is the nicest human being you will meet. If you participate in her class she will love you and have so much fun with you. The class consists of about 4 ten question tests which are elementary easy and 4 performances which if you try for she will give you a good grade. Don't think twice take this class, easiest A.
Stacey is phenomenal. I loved this class so much. Four presentations, two read and two memorized. Two short papers, graded very liberally. Not to mention fun warm-ups - we all laid on the floor one class and just laughed for like fifteen minutes. I gained so much confidence in my presentation skills, and Stacey gives great feedback on performances!
Stacey is a great professor! She is really passionate about what she is teaching, if you need help she is always there for you. I was nervous to take this class but she makes it fun and not so horrible to stand up and talk in font of the class.
Took her for TAI 170 and would recommend it. She grades you based on your level going into the class. If you are an expert actor/actress she will expect more of you than if you are like me and have never done any acting before. She is fun and engaging in class and has a really good report with students.
I loved having Stacey for TAI 170. She made coming to class enjoyable and I was never nervous to perform. You only have four performances and two are with a script, so if you don't have acting experience, don't worry.
Stacey is a very humble person. She wants you to learn and makes the class meaningful. Her Summer course is super lovely where you can make a lot of friends. You will never regret having this class if you show up on time and enjoy the class. A few performances that don't require professional actors or actresses. She appreciates your efforts.
Stacey took a subject that is terrifying (public speaking) and made it fun. You don't have to be great as long as you make an attempt. She gives positive feedback to help you improve. She was a blast and I would definitely take her again. I would recommend this class to everyone. You do get to know everyone in your class which is nice.
Stacey is just a beautiful soul. She really did everything she possibly could to truly get to know you and your classmates, making it a much easier learning environment. I very much recommend Stacey and hope I get her some other time further down the road. I really think she can make you feel better about yourself, because she understands you.
Love Stacy. She's really open and accepting. As long as you're willing to be open and participating, the class is great.
I cannot recommend Stacey enough. She is wildly genuine and goes out of her way to make students feel comfortable in class. We started our morning by stretching, then got into poem content and performances. You'll walk out of class knowing everyone's name and a little bit of who they are as a person. She reminded me that my voice is powerful.
Textbook definition of wonderful. A gift to humanity.
Stacey is both a really entertaining and kind person. She manages to make class fun while still teaching a thing or two. She was well respected in my class which made the learning environment that much better. Can't recommend her enough.
Stacey is a great person, and she truly cared about her students. The class is really easy. My only complaint is that she makes the class out of 100 points, so losing one point loses a percent of your grade.
This class is only out of 100 points which makes it pretty hard to get a good grade. There is 4 performances in the class and if you are not an actor don't take this class because she will grade you like you are.
Easiest oral interp class ever. The final is the only thing thats memorized and the rest of the presentations you dont have to write, you just pick a poem or short story to present for the class. She gives you 3 free absences (use them, you wont miss a thing). Has a mouth like a sailor but shes funny and easy to get along with.
Stacey is really nice, but her grading is kind of crazy. The class is only out of 100 points, and she's very nit picky and seldom takes off half points--always full points. You'll get an entire percentage knocked off your grade for having bad posture during a performance. Attendance is mandatory even though going to class isn't very helpful.
Stacy is an amazing person and teacher. She is extremely understanding to the fact that this is most people's first experience with acting. If you show up and put in even an ounce of effort, you will be fine. Stacy is extremely accessible during the semester and compared to other TAI or COM classes, this one is a breeze.
Stacey complains a lot and is a very childish professor. If you're not a theatre major or is uncomfortable with performing inffront of people, don't take this class. It's only out of 100 points so one mess up and you're doomed. She also has a bad attitude problem.
Stacey is amazing! She made public speaking seem easy for someone who found it difficult to talk in front of a group of peers. She is very easy to talk to, a total sweetheart and made you want to go to class. The activities she did to make it easier to get in front of the class were very helpful. And only two of your performances are memorized!
I loved her! She is truly a gem, just beware there are only 100 points that make up the class so I suggest you go to her office hours or stay after class to have her watch your performances and she will give you feedback before presentation day! lovely lady!
Stacey is a great professor! Her class was always entertaining and didn't require much work outside of class. She can be a tough grader at times but is extremely accessible outside of class and is always willing to help her students improve. I hate public speaking but she made it less intimidating in this course.
Pattison is awesome! She's hilarious and you can tell she loves teaching college students specifically. You have to go to class, but it's honestly not that bad. You'll be able to easily pass so long as you don't procrastinate on your performances. Take her class if you can!
I love Stacey. She is a wonderful human who cares about her students. With all of the snow days, we didn't have to memorize our final two performances, but we would have if the snow days didn't happen, beware of that. But, she is great and she keeps class fun and interesting. You won't regret taking this class with her
She is not understanding when things come up and is a very hard grader. We did lots of unnecessary assignments and were often just given busy work. She is very pushy and expects everyone to be actors even though no one in the class had. career related to acting.
Stacey is a wonderful professor. She knows that getting up in front of others is not easy for everyone and respects that. She gives very good feedback on how to improve your performances. 2 out of 4 performances have a script and the other 2 our memorized and all performances are 1:30-2 minutes long which is better than other professors for TAI170
I only have been in her class for two weeks, but she is enthusiastic about the idea of being comfortable on stage and it was a lot of fun to break that shyness with the first icebreakers/warm ups. You have to make sure you rehearse a lot but she can give you helpful feedback just like an essay. The office hours are helpful too.
Does not tolerate late work
Stacy understands that public speaking is a fear for most people. Before you have to do any performances, you play a lot of games which builds friendships throughout the class and makes performing in front of each other really easy. Attendance is taken so make sure you show up!! She is sassy if you don't turn in assignments on time. Easy A:)
Cares about her students and is very personable! She wants to get to know the students she teaches and wants them to feel comfortable in her class!
Stacey is one of CMU's best. As a business student I was very skeptical to take this class. However, I could not have had a better professor. It is super easy do the work on time and you will pass. Very clear criteria and graded very easy. Obviously if you don't follow deadlines you will struggle. However, you get lots of time for most assignments
Always complaining and highly unprofessional. I have not actually learned anything from her related to my class. Picks and chooses who she likes and bases grades off of that. Gets mad when you ask questions and is no help at all unless you are her are one of her favorites. If you don't want to have to suck up for an A don't take this class. Avoid!
This class wasn't the easiest. I was told by the professor it was easy, but I only got A's on 2 assignments. Luckily, that was enough for me to get an A-.
nothing.
She rambles on in class and often feels like a waste of time to be in class. She is very passionate about the subject but not great professor.
She is very passionate about the class. She is very unprofessional when it comes to language, using curses and cussing throughout every class period. If you do not show up to class on presentation days you will receive a zero. She does try and help you succeed through the class, and gives decent feedback. The book we used twice and never again.
Avoid. You don't really learn anything in this class. She has about four weeks of content and then the rest of the semester is practice days and performance days. She got very irritable and unprofessional towards the end of the semester. It was really hard for me to keep going to her class because her class was so toxic.
This class is performing short stories and poems. Very fun once you get out of the shy stage, but definitely listen to Stacey's feedback if you want a better grade on the next performance. 2 performances are with a script, and 2 are memorized, start memorizing EARLY! Only a certain about of absences allowed, then your grade will start to drop.
Stacey was amazing and her class was my favorite this semester. She's hilarious and truly cares about each student and their personal success. Since it was a public speaking class, it was awkward at first, but she makes sure that everyone feels comfortable. Would 10/10 recommend this course with Stacey.
Amazing professor, so willing to work with you and cares about her students. Make sure to attend class and participate because that's how you learn in this class. She gives helpful feedback but doesn't grade harshly. Definitely take her if you get the chance, she makes performing so fun!
Rockstar!
she really helped with my fear of public speaking. gives good feedback, but kind of a tough grader though!
Stacey is an amazing person. She is friendly and treats each student as an individual. She clearly loves what she does and is excited to do more with the Honors section next semester. She is a pretty good professor, but this material needs more practice than teaching. She did give us great tips for memorization and breathing. Her class was amazing!
Get ready to memorize and perform poetry for the class
Stacey is one of my favorite professors ever! She very obviously cares about each of her students. Her syllabus makes her seem like a really tough person, but she's very understanding of mental health issues and does her best to make accommodations. Class was fun, two papers in the semester, 4 performances (2 memorized). Easy and amazing class.
Stacey is seriously the best. I am a business major, so theater is not my forte and something I have never been around. She pushes you out of your comfort zone but helps you along the way. I remember feeling so nervous for this course, but walked out wishing it had never ended. Take this class! You won't regret it. Regardless of your major, do it!
I absolutely love Stacey. She made every class so fun and made it feel like a safe space for everyone there. Even the biggest projects we had to do she would give you a good grade as long as you put in the work. Seriously one of the best profs I've had.
Stacy was very fun to learn from. She's very interested in what she teaches. You have to memorize two 1-3 minute speeches for the class but it's not difficult. You need the two books she tells you about in the beginning. They're very required.
This class was honestly so fun, she was very personable and often gave us time to just stretch and breathe before starting class. There are a couple discussions (2) and speeches (4), but the class felt welcoming enough that I never stressed over these things. She's very nice about grading and willing to assist you in making your speeches better!
Stacey is a passionate professor, though her class can feel a bit disorganized at times. The performances can be intimidating, but using unstuckstudy and the required textbooks helps a lot. Overall, a decent class if you put in the work.
As someone who is really shy, this is the perfect class to get your oral credit. You're graded off 4 speeches and a couple quizzes. Never really had homework other than memorization. She gave class time for working on speeches and strategies to help with stress. Overall, a wonderful class.
Loved going to her class, I normally don't like speaking/presenting in front of people but I felt super comfortable in this class.
If you have a fun students in your class, then her class is pretty easy. If the students are all introverts, good luck.
Stacey was a really great TAI professor. She does a lot of activities before class so be prepared to participate. If your class is introverted then it will be harder and most likely a couple people will be speaking. I would just ask for a copy of the textbook since you dont need them after you use them.
Prof. Pattison was so fun in her teaching! While her structure can be unorganized at times, she's always eager to answer questions and her assignments are easy. As long as you try, you'll enjoy this class.
It was an uncomfortable class if you don't like speaking in front of the whole class. She wasn't very understanding, which is hard for some people. But it was a fun class overall and helped me grow in public speaking just because of the exposure!
She was rude to some students, but overall an easy class especially if you were on her good side.
Being a speaking class, Professor Pattison has to be somewhat careful with how she grades students. You should expect a lot of speaking assignments, but you get a decent amount of time to memorize both in and out of class. She gives you time to stretch at the start of class and, although public speaking can be hard, I genuinely enjoyed her.
