She did a great job for being a new professor! I thought the recitations were not long enough though, they were far too rushed and not as helpful as they should be.
Ms. Vaughn is a great professor. She explains things very clearly, is easy to ask questions to and receive help, and as long as you do the work you will get an A. The content is simple, the homework is redo-able, and the tests are short.
Prof. Vaughn is an outstanding teacher. She is very clear about the topic, helpful, and does her best to not overwhelm her students with homework or excessive material. She made lectures engaging and personal. Watch the lecture, do the homework, go to office hours and you will pass AND UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL! Take her!!
Extremely student oriented. She makes sure to go slowly and deliberately, making sure to not leave anyone behind while still maintaining a reasonable pace for the faster learners. Best math teacher/professor I've ever had hands down.
I struggle with maths, but Stacey is the best professor I've ever had. Clear expectations, flexible, aware of student's other responsibilities and doesn't overwhelm, tests are easy if you paid attention in class, and she is the first professor I've ever had to apologise and take ownership of a mistake she might've made. Highly recommend.
Stacey is one of the most amazing professors I have ever met! She makes it clear that she cares about teaching her students. She removes questions that were too hard on the tests, she does many practice problems, and she will accommodate people with emergencies. Stacey does a great job making math less stressful!
Stacey is such an amazing professor, shes so caring and explains everything very clearly. If you have questions shes easy to contact. Shes a great professor who really values her students learning and doesnt want anyone to fail her class, would definitely recommend taking any class you can with her.
Stacey is a really sweet prof. Math isn't my strongest but I'm glad I'm taking her class. She's always been helpful whenever I email her and she has a zoom option for her class as well so if you aren't feeling well, you aren't penalized.
This professor is a nice individual and easily accessible to contact for help. However, I was teaching myself the material through YouTube and other sources, so I would not recommend spending money on taking this class. In my opinion there is too much of a workload as well.
Stacey is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her students and is there to help them even outside of class. She takes time to make sure everyone is on the same page and that everyone understands the material. She also records her lectures and is very understanding and does not penalize you for missing class.
Professor Vaughn is by FAR my favorite professor at Oregon State so far. She is caring, easy to understand, and is always open to talk and answer any questions. She is accommodating if you have emergencies or issues. ALEKS is used in this class, but you can always go to office hours or ask questions after class. Definitely choose this professor!
Provides a lot of resources and help for understanding the content. She encourages questions and responds to emails and makes office hours if you ever need help with something.
Best math professor in my opinion. She is good at explaining new topics and works through examples with us during lectures. She responds to emails very quickly and is willing to work through problems if you are stuck. She's also very approachable and cares a lot about the students. Take her class if you can!
Stacey is very clear when explaining the topics. She cares about her students and doesn't leave anyone behind. Her lecture slides can be somewhat messy/disorganized.
Stacey is hands down the best math professor/teacher I have ever had. She truly cares about all of her students and never wants to leave anyone behind. She encourages questions and puts her students learning above all else. Her style of teaching is very clear and very easy to understand. Just amazing all around. Highly recommend!
Professor Vaughn was extremely laid back but also incredibly organized. You always know what’s going on in the class and what to expect in terms of exams, homework, recitations, etc. She was always available via email and responded very quickly. All in all I would highly recommend taking any of her classes.
I didn't pass, but that was my bad. The prof is great
Best math professor I had! She really cares that her students understand the content and never goes too fast in lectures but always makes sure we are able to get through all the content. Would highly recommend taking her as a professor
Professor Vaughn had great lectures where she worked through problems and made every step extremely clear. Her assignments and tests reflected what we had done in class and attendance helped me understand the topics we covered. The textbook was more like a workbook and was extremely cheap and helpful to have.
MTH245 - She's super nice, very clear in her lectures. She is easy to contact outside of class and very helpful. She also has a zoom option for her classes so i never went in person. 100% would take again. The class itself is pretty easy, besides the probability section. Exams are online.
I have never written a review for anything, but Stacey is by far the best professor I have had at Oregon State University so I felt I had to share. She is a very gifted and natural teacher. Very good at lecturing and goes into detail on very complex math problems and won't move on until she knows everyone understands what is going on.
Professor Vaughn was hands down one of my favorite professors at OSU. She made things very clear in her lectures and her expectations were always super clear as well. I was absolutely terrified to take math in an online setting, but Professor Vaughn made it enjoyable and a positive learning experience. I highly recommend her for any math course!
Really good and easy to learn from, the worst part about this class is the homework.
Teaches well and makes sure everyone understands the material. Will always go back and explain anything if someone has a question. She is also easy to access and talk to either right after class, over email or during office hours.
Best professor, she posts EVERYTHING online. She's very kind and takes time for everyone to take everything in. Textbook is free but you have to pay $30 for the online hw website. The only downside that it is easy to get behind by not attending lectures since she doesn't take attendance. Great class and she is very accessible outside of class.
I would highly recommend taking this professor for 251. She is very organized and goes over all of the information you need to succeed on homework and quizzes. Super kind too and clearly cares about her students.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. She shows so much genuine care towards her students, and never made me feel bad for asking questions in class. I told her my name once in the beginning of the semester and she made a point to remember. Really great atmosphere to learn in.
Absolutely wonderful- clearly passionate about the subject and cares a lot about the well being of her students. I got covid the last week of term and she was willing to let me take one of the last quizzes under different circumstances so I could have more time to recover. Everything is graded on work and correctness so steps equal credit often!
she is so cool
In lecture, she'll actually go over test content and what will be expected of you on the test, which overall was very helpful. It's important to note that there's a bit of homework, but it's not that difficult, so it's more time consuming rather than mentally challenging. btw the textbook was free and wasn't super essential :)
Lectures are great she does a few problems related to the preclass homework we do and explains everything. Leaves no one behind and goes back to help. Her unit quiz reviews were extremely helpful and you could expect some variation of it on the actual quiz. One of the best math teachers I've had so far.
Everything is reversed its a "flipped classroom". There's no clear or easy way to learn concepts but class is full of busy work no one has learned yet. You just sit in class confused because the pre-class notes are not actual notes but just more busy work so you're never learning anything
Really good lecturer, accessible as she streams every class to zoom so you can still attend if you can't be there in person. Very good at explaining concepts and breaking down the complicated parts, making sure that everyone understands while keeping moving fairly quick through material.
I was dreading taking calculus but Stacey genuinely made this class one of my favorites. She is a great lecturer: always asks if everyone is keeping up, goes over only the important things, and streams classes on zoom. Doing homework on Achieve can get annoying, but she does her best to prepare you. Math tests never felt so simple.
She was amazing and super helpful. Took time to explain in different ways if you didn't understand. Accessible outside of class. Genuinely wanted you to succeed and would do her best to help. Lectures she would explain the process behind concepts and what we would use them for in the future. Definitely take her class if you get the chance!!
Very helpful and everything is straight forward. Only issue is that the homework takes an extremely long time to complete and is significantly harder than quizzes.Makes the hard stuff a lot easier. Overall she is a great teacher, the only issue is the homework takes a long time to complete.
Stacey is a very well spoken professor and works hard to make sure you do well during classes. I was sick a lot throughout the term and she was very generous about extensions and expressed care for my wellbeing, allowing her work to not be something I was super stressed about while sick. Great professor overall and highly recommend.
Stacey is possibly the best instructor I've ever had. She's an incredible teacher, and reviews the algebra that you need to do calculus, which many teachers overlook. She's accessible, understanding, funny, and transparent. She treats every student as a friend, and you can tell she loves her job. Also very up front with what we're being tested on.
She was honestly the best professor I have ever had. I am terrible at math usually, but somehow managed to get a 100% on the final exam. She is super accessible and compassionate about any situation. The only difficult part was the quizzes, but she will let you know the concepts on them before you take them. I adore her!
This course took a lot of work, lots of quizzes and lengthy homework assignments. As long as you keep up with the work and study you'll definetly get a passing grade. I was so nervous for this class, but came out with an A. She made even difficult concepts much easier to understand.
Professor Vaughn was awesome! There was a decent amount of work thru eCampus, as there is homework based on the lecture, and also homework through McGraw's ALEKS. I learned a LOT in the class with both the lectures and homework assignments. The discussion Q&A boards are super helpful, along with the three weekly office hours. Great class!
Math is one of my weakest subjects, but this course was easy enough to understand and get through.
Stacey is easily one of my top 3 OSU favorites. She is outstanding at her job & cares deeply for her students. She keeps lectures short but clear. Communicate with her/your TA & participate in the weekly discussion boards & you will do well in the class.
Stacey was an amazing professor. She takes the time to explain concepts the class finds difficult or confusing. Very understanding that we are students and have other classes. The ALEKs homework is time-consuming but if you stay on top of it then it's easy to manage.
Stacey is extremely effective at teaching a class full of reluctant math learners. She's got the pace down, can build upon lessons, and doesn't assume you know anything ahead of time. It's hard to do asynchronous math, and she has it down perfectly. I would 100% take her classes
Math is not my greatest subject, but Stacy was really helpful with explaining everything in a way that made sense. The only downside is that there is a combination of written homework in the workbook we get that is almost every day, and also ALEKS work that takes up a lot of time so it can be hard to manage.
I really enjoyed her class and found it one of my favorites. I am hoping to have her again in the future and am genuinely going to miss her class. She is super understanding, not a harsh grader, and gives her students many resources to ensure they understand the topic. When looking for a good professor I will 100% recommend Stacey!
I loved Stacey's teaching and would choose her as a professor a million times again. The only homework we had was online ALEKS homework that sometimes took a long time, but she was pretty flexible about due dates and answered emails. Lecture wasn't mandatory, but was very helpful. Quizzes were an easy A.
Stacey was the best math teacher I have ever had. I really felt like I learned a lot from her. She made lectures engaging and she was flexible about accepting late work. Attendance was not mandatory but going to class was a big benefit since learning from her was great. There was a lot of in class work where you could work with people around you.
Stacey is the best professor I have ever had she is such a great professor. She wants to make sure everyone understands the concepts and won't make you feel stupid for asking questions. Also is very easy to talk to! I highly recommend taking her courses if you can.
Stacey is a phenomenal professor. She is so good at explaining things and its obvious she wants you to succeed. If you struggle to understand math concepts please try to choose her. I wish I could take her for every math exam! This class is pretty homework heavy but if you study you'll do well on the exams which matter way more than the homework.
Great teacher, holds zoom lectures and attendance is not required.
Wonderful, enjoys what she does so she's great at teaching. Offers a zoom option if you don't attend in-person lecture. Makes sure all your questions are answered clearly. Textbook is free and she offers lots of notes for all assignments and quizzes. Nothing to complain about her; she made me enjoy learning math again.
MTH 245 Her online lectures are great that she shows her face and fills out notes alongside you. She is very responsive and helpful if you have a question and will even respond with a video. Its a mix of lectures, Khan assignments, written homework, and quizzes but its arranged in a manageable way.
If you have to take 251 take it with Stacey! By far the best teacher i've had at OSU. She's extremely thorough in her lectures and is incredibly open to questions. Her office hours were also often and extremely helpful. If you want an above average grade go to office hours. Stacey is the best!
Take any math class you can with her.
the goat
Stacey was an absolutely fabulous calc teacher. She clearly cared about her students as both people and learners, her lectures were clear and easy to follow and she explained things REALLY well. I cannot recommend her enough she was so kind and made math so much less daunting. She is the sweetest- and you will really learn the content.
Lectures were available on zoom and recordings were posted to Canvas. Everything was posted and graded promptly. Some classes were canceled due to weather, and she convinced the math department to grant homework extensions. She really cares about students and wants them to succeed.
I have always struggled with math, so this class was quite difficult for me. Despite that, Professor Vaughn is incredibly caring, and quite responsive to questions. She is quite descriptive with her explanations as well. She has also been more than flexible with late turn-ins! Difficult class, excellent Professor.
No flaws, just issues with the Math Department in general. Scheduling is all over the place. You will take a quiz 2 weeks after you moved on to the next unit. She will however fight to extend deadlines and to make sure you understand the material.
This is the second class I have taken with Stacey, and if it wasn't my final math requirement, I'd take so many more. I never thought I could be successful in a math class, but I was proven wrong. She is incredibly kind, advocating, and above all, a great teacher. I would recommend her to anyone, but especially those who are anxious about math.
This was my first class I went to starting college in 2022 and oh boy I thought every professor would be this good but I was wrong. She is nice and the best explainer. Calculus is notoriously hard but she made it easy with her teaching, never met anyone who had anything bad to say.
the absolute sweetest woman around. take every math class with her if you can honestly. maybe the most accommodating math instructor literally ever and wants to see everyone succeed. just the best. stacey ur going in my will
I only have good things to say about Stacey. She is such a fantastic professor, and I hope to get her as a professor again in the future. She is so caring, likes to teach, and wants to see everyone succeed. She is very understanding and open to extensions. She helps prepare you as much as possible for the quizzes and final. There is no midterm.
Best math teacher I've had, can't reccommend her enough.
She was the best math teacher I have ever had. She made understanding the work so easy. She always made sure to make time and answer questions if anyone had any. She especially made sure that we were prepared for any upcoming quiz or final exam.
Stacey is truly amazing! I was terrified going into college doing a math course right away as I've always had horrible anxiety around math and bad experiences with teachers. But I have never felt so welcomed and seen within a math class. She is so caring, and is amazing at explaining topics. It's so evident she cares about her students success!
Stacey is the nicest professor I've ever met, super helpful and reasonable on grading. You'd have to try pretty hard not to do well in her class.
She is so nice and really cares about your success, with that being said, I only went to test days and did homework, got an A with almost no studying
This professor wants you to succeed. She is supportive. Her lectures are extremely helpful, and you don't have to read a bunch of indecipherable math in a textbook. She goes through a series sample problems that are very useful. She also uses Khan Academy to save students money. The course is challenging, but she is ready to help.
Stacey is hands-down the best math professor/teacher I have ever had in all of my years of schooling. She conveys the material in an easy-to-learn way and if you do not understand something she is more than willing to help you understand it. She is extremely caring, kind, and selfless and goes out of her way to make sure you succeed in the course.
I love Stacy! If I could take her every term I would. She deserves every ounce of credit she receives and she cares about every single person in her class. If you have the opportunity to have her as your professor take it! Even rearrange your schedule for her because she is amazing!
Amazing teacher, should be a must pick anytime you can. Recorded lectures are the best, goes over any and all question very in-depth and insanely caring.
I hadn't taken a math class in a few years and was a bit nervous. Stacey uses recorded lectures and lecture notes to walk you through all of the learning material for each section. She uses Khan Academy as homework to solidify what was taught in the lectures. It's structured in a way that makes sense and is easy to follow. Highly recommend!
The best math teacher I have ever had. I never knew I could learn math concepts so effortlessly, until attending Stacey's lectures. She is caring, hard working, and great at what she does. If you have the opportunity to take her, please do!
Stacey is the best math teacher I have ever had. I haven't taken a math class since COVID, and she made calculus feel like algebra I. She is such a good teacher and genuinely loves what she does. The exams are super reasonable, and she records and posts all of the lectures and notes from class. 100% worth rearranging your schedule for!!
Great Teacher!
Best teacher I've had at OSU so far, would take her for every math class if I could. Loves her job and is a great teacher. Attend class because she teaches in class!!! If you go to class and do all the assignments you will do well. Stacey answers emails and is very easy to reach outside of class.
Stacey's lectures and class structure are extremely well organized. There is no textbook, rather a pdf packet with example problems and learning material that she walks through in the videos. She does a great job breaking down each example step by step, and gives multiple examples of the same problem type. 10/10.
while taking the honors version of the class she would stop and explain even rudimentary things to make sure people weren't left behind and never made you feel bad for not knowing. prepared you very well for tests.
Professor Vaughn is one of, if not the best math teachers I have ever had. She is extremely caring, supportive of students, and never makes anyone feel bad for not understanding something. There is a lot of a homework, but it prepares you well for the tests (which are always easier than the homework). I'm excited to take MTH252 with her next term!
One of my favorite profs. Stacey is really caring for you as her student and is able to explain concepts in multiple different ways if you don't understand it the first time its explained. She always emphasizes not leaving any student behind in understanding and is easy to talk to to get help. Able to meet out of class and answers emails quickly.
She was very nice! The Sci100 course sucks and is not going to be useful or enjoyable to complete, but I did like Stacey. She was very nice and was very clear on her grading. Though I wouldn't take transitions again, I would take math with her.
Stacey is an amazing human. I just finished 228 with her and i'll miss her. When I took 227 my ex was having health issues so I took care of her and when I emailed stacey about why I hadn't been to class, she was not just understanding but told me to make sure I took good care of her and let me make the points back. She grades fair and truly cares.
As someone who has had a bad past with math professors, Stacey was wonderful! One of the best professors i have ever had! She is really understanding and wants to help. She is also good about making sure everyone is on the same page no one is stuck! Tests are weighted heavily, but there are other assignments too, so it's not JUST tests.
