Theres a lot of information for the class, but she explains it well. Go to class because she tells you stuff thats not in the notes and that will periodically be on the test. Shes nice, easy to understand, and but the stuff you have to learn for the class can be hard.
she is awful. she teaches the class as though you are to know it. one of the first things she says is "if you took this class as an easy A, you're out of luck. the avg grade in this class is a 73%". she is all about the lectures and the text book, but her tests are very detailed. i wouldn't recommend this class unless you absolutely need it. :/
Teacher is good looking and willing to help.
Love her class and she is the easier of the two professors, if you take good notes, you are in.
She's very strict, but seems to be thorough in her lectures, but it is not an easy A. It is very time consuming and stressful.
She's very strict, but seems to be thorough in her lectures, but it is not an easy A. It is very time consuming and stressful.
She is a great professor, is funny and seems to really enjoy the material. She is always willing to help students and is super nice. The class is hard but it is also a science class, so that is expected. Take her class, you will love it. Just make sure you set aside time to study
Class is pretty hard, but if you just read over your notes every night then it's not too bad. Just work hard and you'll be fine. This class is not a blow off, so you'l have to put the time into it.
Intro to Nutrition was so much fun and I learned a lot! Yes, the class is a lot of work but you can easily boost your grade with the quizzes and labs (easy). She and the TA's will work with you and e-mails are quickly responded. Read the book and you'll be fine. Staci isn't as bad as people are saying and she's much easier then Dr. Julian.
FN 2070 is a difficult class and I wouldn't recommend taking it just to take it. However, getting an A is do-able as long as you study like every night and go to class. Professor Freeworth and her TAs know what they're talking about and are more than willing to help!
Staci was a wonderful teacher. It's a harder class but it's one of the easiest sciences I've taken so far. She makes learning easy. And there are huge curves. It's an easy a if you work hard and go to class. And there's a ton of extra help offered.
Really a great teacher. She knows what she's talking about and really enjoys the material. Show up to class, pay attention and the class is a breeze. Missed something like 20 points total all semester so not a hard A.
With all the quizes right after the lectures and additonal assignments this class had a lot of easy points
Staci is an awesome teacher, very willing to help and offers a lot of it. You have to go to class, read the book, and pay attention and you will get an A. Lots of points from quizzes and labs which are very easy to get full credit on. Huge curves on Exam. would take her again in a heartbeat
This class has a lot of interesting info. It is not a class to take just cus. It takes a lot of work to keep a good grade. lots of points overall so its okay if you dont do great on exams. she gives out lots of extra credit points.
Staci is a great teacher! I've never been great with science-type classes, but I got a B in this class! She's very thorough & clear in her lectures. The tests weren't easy, but there were a lot of quizzes & labs that help your grade a ton. She is very nice and has a great sense of humor. I would take a class taught by her again, no questions asked.
I found her class very difficult. The way she taught was as if you should already know the info. I found her very rude and not a useful teacher. Dont take her class as a BGP
My number one recommendation for this course, BUY THE BOOK, in the book has her lecture notes and having them is a life saver. Sitting through her lectures and trying to take her notes is a joke. She moves so fast it's impossible.
Nice teacher, hard course. It's A LOT of information that you need to know in order to pass this class. They do offer SI session which helps your grade out a lot.
This professor was great. She gives detailed information, but also helps you focus on what you need to know for class. The tests are hard the assignments and quizzes help pull your grade up if you follow directions. Great intro course. Highly recommend
As a recent college grad, I can say that Staci is DEFINITELY one of the best teachers I had through my 4 years. Yes, the class is challenging at times; but the amount you learn is very useful, and far exceeds that of most other classes you'll encounter. She is always willing to answer questions and help students- I would strongly reccomend her!
As a recent college grad, I can DEFINITELY say that Staci was one of the best teachers I had in my 4 years. Yes, the course can be challenging at times, but the information you absorb is far more abundant and useful than most classes you will encounter. Staci is willing to help students at any time, and I would strongly reccomend her for anyone!
Staci was a great teacher overall, but I personally thought the class was difficult. There's a lot of material to know, but she does a good job at providing resources for her students to succeed. BUY THE BOOK, IT HAS HER NOTES IN IT. It takes a lot of work, but it's definitely possible to get an A in this class.
Staci was an awesome teacher. Her lectures are fast paced but very clear. She is very willing to help and explain anything to you. Always looks at whats best for the students and their grades. Lots of online quizzes but they're really simple if you use the book. Memorization is required for exams but all the information is useful in everyday life.
i failed this class, i don't like her personality, she's so arrogant. but honestly, her teaching method is great, well organized, and very clear. I have no choice, take it again. lol
I absolutely loved Stacie. This class wasn't easy at all, but she is very helpful if you have questions. I ended with an A and got exempt from the final exam. It's not impossible, just a lot of work.
She is by far the best teacher I have ever had. She is so easy-going, friendly, and helps you out whenever you need it. She made some of the most boring topics fun. She also has so many personal stories for examples in all of the classes! I had her for FN 2100, and FN 2120 too
She is very helpful and there are a lot of extra credits. It is not hard to get an A in this class. Study her notes and go to the SI Session for extra credit and for help ! Go TO CLASS, she take attendance and do quizzes for extra credits.
This class is awesome
She's a very energetic and passionate teacher, and her classes are relatively enjoyable. Staci engages students in her lectures, and if you don't want to ask a question out loud during a lecture you can go online and ask her TA during class. There will be group work. If you want to pass, make sure you take notes and follow the lectures.
Although lectures are usually long and boring, Staci really sets you up for success in her class. She is willing to answer any questions and does her best to make sure you understand the information.
Class is fairly interesting. Unfortunately, she spends most of the class time complaining about people not participating in class or answering questions.
Staci does her best to engage 200+ students by doing in class activites. She encourages participation in a meaningful, encouraging way. If you are too shy to participate, you can hop on the online chat board active during class to ask questions. Too many people do not want to put any effort into classes. This class is just challenging enough.
Tests are difficult because they cover a lot of material. As a professor, Staci is pretty good. She is helpful and offers extra credit through Supplementary Instruction Sessions. If you are taking this to fulfill the BGP physical science credit then I would recommend a different course. Staci definitely makes you work for it, but it is doable.
Staci was one of my favorite professors I've had here at BGSU. She really, really cares about her students, which is an increasingly rare quality to find in professors. She tries to do everything in here power to make sure you succeed, the only caveat is that you need to put the work in.
The class is boring. She tests on too many chapters at one time expects you to remember all the information from slides and the books. The tests are over 4 chapters at a time. You are lucky if it is less than that. The Chapters are long and so are the PowerPoint presentations and she expects you to remember everything from 4 chapters to test on.
I loved Staci as a person. If you go talk to her one on one she will answer any question and is very sweet, but her tests are impossible. If you study for hours you'll do fairly well on the tests because you know a bunch of random facts that you can kind of put together. Make sure you do all of the homework. You'll gain a lot of valuable knowledge.
I loved Staci, She was one of my favorite teachers at BG. She was always willing to help out whenever needed and you could tell she really did want her students to succeed. If you really take advantage of the extra credit and study session she provides you will pass with flying colors. She's always very understanding and flexible with final grades.
Staci is a great professor. I don't think the work she asks you to do is unreasonable at all. You do 90% of your homework in class, she drops several of those scores so you can miss a few classes and not be penalized. The tests are straight from the class work and she always curves. It is easy to pass this class if you show up 80% of the time.
This class is a class where if you attend, are alert, and utilize all of the tools provided you will do very well. I went to all but 2 classes, went to study sessions, participated, and utilized the LA's and ended with a 100%. Her tests can be difficult but spend a few hours studying and attend study sessions, you'll do great. She also curves.
I went into this class expecting to love it. Staci presented the content at an extremely fast pace. I attended class, did the homework, read the textbook, and still got C's on her tests. Her tests are nothing like what is done in class. She does add a curve which is nice, and has extra credit opportunities.
This class is great because group work is incorporated into the lectures to help keep you engaged and caught up. There are learning assistants that help answer questions you have throughout the period too. There are also many ways you can earn extra credit. If you put in the work, this class sets you up to succeed.
you can tell she cares for her students but all she does is stand in the front and lecture. get tested over 5 chapters at once but there is a lot of extra credit opportunities. Has LAs around the class room. there is a lot of group work
A faithful professor to her students and a joy to be around. Easily overcomes the obstacles surrounding a large class. Twice as dedicated when compared to her peers. She believes there's a road to fruition in terms of staying on straight and narrow toward success. One of the brighter minds in today's academia; has a bright future ahead.
The class wasn't hard but it wasn't a breeze either. Make sure you attend class for groupwork exercises. The LA's are helpful and make the class a more personal experience. There's lots of extra credit and she curves the exams a ton so its a doable class. I felt like the tests weren't quite on what she bolded in her powerpoints though.
You are put into groups at the beginning of the course and then throughout the semester you will have to complete assignments during class each day with your group. You automatically get 10 points every day you come to class and complete the group assignments pretty much. This helps your grade tremendously. She also curves exams which is helpful.
Such an interesting class. Staci makes it incredibly easy for everyone to succeed. Put in your fair share and this class will be a breeze.
This class is so awesome, she is such a great professor. I struggle with science courses a lot but she makes learning easy. The class has Learning Assistants and you get into groups to discuss what you learned. Easy to keep your grade up because there is no shortage of assignments.
Staci is very nice and she loves teaching. There are a lot of in-class group work which counts as attendance. It is important to attend the lectures and take notes because she goes very fast through the material. Make sure you read the chapters before coming to class to be ready for pop quizzes. She gave a lot of extra credit at the end of semester
Lectures are monotone. Work seems pointless though some will actually help. Way too many notes, lots of information to try to remember for exams.
I loved this professor. She is so down to earth! Even though this is a science class, she always tries to make the material relate to ways you would use nutrition in everyday life. I feel like I will be able to use much of what I learned after this class and its not my major. She is also super funny. She is always helping students be successful.
Dr. Freeworth is a great professor and is very knowledgeable about her subject matter. Took this course over the summer and class consisted of 6 discussion boards, 6 quizzes, and 3 cronometer assignments (tracks your diet, diet questions, etc.). Textbook is very useful in quizzes and assignments. Lots of readings and writing though. Recommended!
If you need an easy online class to boost a GPA or need more credits, I highly recommend. Staci clearly states what needs to be done from the start and lays it all out for you. NO exams, weekly quizzes (only 10 questions each). As long as you do the assignments, you will get an A.
Staci is pretty cool. She knows a lot about nutrition but most of the time it seems like she doesn't really care during her lectures. Lots of chances for extra credit. Do the work and this is an easy A. Lots of groupwork during class.
wasn't really a great teacher. Very lecture heavy and makes you feel bad if you don't participate out of 160 students. Does give extra credit which is nice. The only reason I did well was because of my learning assistant, if you don't get a good one you probably won't do as well. A lot of memorization with digestion and vitamins and minerals.
Worst class I have EVER taken. All group work. We had multiple pop quizzes that nobody did well on. Lecture heavy and her power points make absolutely no sense and are ugly. Her voice is so monotone. Class is not enjoyable, would not recommend this class. Each exam had way too much information for anyone to ever remember. I regret taking this class
makes sure she touches on relevant and interesting topics. She works hard to make sure we are informed on accurate health information and know how to pick out good evidence vs. bad evidence. She sets up her class with LA's who are always there to answer questions quickly and staci walks around the classroom and is always available for personal hel
This class is challenging but rewarding! This class is based on participation and group work however, you will be assigned a learning assistant to help you learn the information better and create more of a one-on-one learning environment in a big lecture hall. Overall, this class requires work but I loved it and learned so much! STACI ROCKS!
She genuinely cares about the knowledge that you take away from her class. She gives you so many opportunities to grow as a professional and is ALWAYS willing to give you the help you need. Her classes are less about grades and more about the skills you take away from the course. She is so caring and genuine. 10/10 one of my favorite teachers.
If you are not going into a medical profession, do not take this class. You are assigned a learning assistant and group. There is group work every single class. Exams are very loaded because it's over about 4-6 chapters. Her voice is very monotone and boring. She gives pop quizzes periodically, so make sure you read before class!
Staci is one of the most caring professors. Even with a 200 person lecture hall she makes a point to know individuals names. It is clear that her main passion is to better you and prepare your for life outside of the classroom (the things you learn are SO relevant for everyone-even business majors). LAs are great and study sessions weekly.
Staci has been my favorite professor throughout the dietetics program. She puts things into perspective for a real life clinical setting, rather than just basing everything off the book. She prepares you very well, as long as you put in the work. I highly recommend Staci, especially if you are going into the medical field!
People were saying this class was really hard, but I found out quickly that I was misinformed. She wrote the textbook so you know exactly what she is looking for when taking tests. The class is actually pretty easy as long as you show up. The class is often taught from a practical perspective where you are teaching others what you are learning.
Awesome instructor! She's very knowledgeable on the material and actually takes the time to listen and respond to your questions/posts. While there is a lot of material to read in this class, it's all very relatable which makes comprehension easier and Staci will also break it down if needed to make it understandable. Good course, Great teacher!
She is very sweet. Make sure you turn in all assignments on time. All quizzes are out of the book and there are no answers online. She is very lecture heavy and loves to talk. She goes very fast, so make sure to copy the notes quickly. She does offer extra credit. Exams are extremely hard. Do good in the quizzes and big project and you will pass.
This is a good class if you are looking for a gen ed course and want to know more about what goes into your body. She does have pop quizzes every so often but there are only 3 total and they don't effect your grade that much. Attendance is mandatory because you get assigned group work and have to post on a DB every class. Tests can be challenging.
Staci is a great professor and really takes time to teach you about what is happening inside your body. Attendance is important for your grade because group work is completed every class, but you have LA's to help you in and outside of class if you need it. Staci gives lots of opportunities for extra credit too!
I recommend taking this class if you have some familiarity with science. I really enjoyed this class and the material, so it was an easy A. Staci is a really good teacher and the LA's offered help further explain the information. I would definitely take this professor again if I had room in my schedule. Lots of group work helps boost grade.
Her powerpoints for lectures are all over the place. Although she does know what she is talking about. Exams are pretty hard. Thank god she gives lots of extra credit!
I love Staci because she is funny and cares a lot about her students. The lecture can get quite boring though, you have to take LOTS of notes, and there is an in class discussion assignment every class which can boost your grade. She gives extra credit. The exams are very difficult, because you are tested over multiple chapters at once. GO TO CLASS
Overall, this class was pretty easy. Staci is a good professor and really knowledgeable about what she teaches. She is super helpful and will make class fun and answer all your questions. It was a little annoying because her class is strictly a NO PHONES zone and she has LAs to watch and make sure youre not on them. But she offered extra credit
Staci was really nice and really cares about her students doing well. She does sometimes do pop quizzes but we only had one. She offers many opportunities to help better your knowledge of the class and makes the exams and quizzes on everything that is in the notes so as long as you pay attention and study the notes you'll get a good grade.
I love Staci. She is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had and I would definitely take this class again
Although her class may seem difficult, she's a very relaxed and understanding professor. The tests may seem hard as you're taking it, but she's a really easy grader and gives lots of curves. She will answer any question you ask very well and is overall a great professor.
I have mixed feelings about this class. I enjoyed learning about nutrition and the subject matter of the class. The professor I found frustrating. It was during COVID, but class was disorganized and wishy-washy. Lectures are at breakneck speed but at least recorded so you can slow it down. Overall a nice prof but not sure I would take again.
Super fun class. I love nutrition so it was a breeze. Other students I worked with didn't like nutrition as much and seemed to struggle a bit but she is a great professor. She tries to keep the info interesting, allows for group work to break up lectures, and also offered extra credit opportunities. Study hard for exams because they are challenging
Dr. Freeworth is such a kind lady! She is very knowledgeable and will make time for her students. A good chunk of each class was spent on group work, which was a little awkward since the class was online. The exams were pretty tough but not impossible. You should make sure you attend the study sessions if you want to do well on the exams.
This class was definitely not my forte, you had to sit for an hour lecture online then go into breakout groups and do an assignment together. No one in my group spoke to each other so I was just confused the whole time. It was hard to get help in this class because there were 200 students and it was... online.
Dr. Freeworth's class has been my absolute favorite here at BG. Her exams are tough but if you go to the LA review sessions and study you should be okay. She gives out extra credit as well, for Halloween if we dressed up as something nutrition related we received bonus points and everyone had a lot of fun with it.
Not the best class to take online, I found the breakout groups not helpful and mostly just wasted time. The course really depends on how well you do with exams but you can benefit quite a bit from the assignments and extra credit activities. My LA was very clueless which made the class more difficult than necessary.
Personally, I took this as a BGP, and though the content is interesting, the layout of the class is awful. You are constantly in small groups with LAs in charge, where all of your group either doesn't participate or you do the work on your own. Was kind of a waste of time. Exams are super hard, study!! Don't take this unless you absolutely have to.
Dr. Freeworth is a great teacher. She explains very well but tends to go very quickly. She assigns very few assignments outside of class. In every class she has group work assignments, so pick a good group. Her tests are very fair and cover what she lectured on. Go to the LA study sessions before the tests, they will help a lot.
I really loved Staci's class this semester and I have learned so much from this course. She does go really fast so make sure you are taking notes. Group work is done in class every class day so make sure you are attending class regularly. Very little out of class homework. Exams are tough but fair, go to LA review sessions prior to tests!
Staci's class was my hardest course this semester. Her lecture is packed full and there are few open seats left. She goes through her powerpoint incredibly fast and it was really difficult to keep up with notes and actually learning the material.
Lots of what you're graded on are the in-class assignments you are supposed to do in a group, but it's not enforced well. The tests are kind of difficult, so studying is necessary. The lectures are entertaining, and Dr. Freeworth is really nice and easy to understand.
I was super excited to take this course and Dr. Freeworth made it unbearable. Her lectures are like they were recorded in super fast speed making it impossible to take notes without slowing the audio to half speed. I received an A, but I had to do a ton of extra work to get around the terrible lectures.
Just for the online class we have to take, the instructions on assignments are often unclear, there are HOURS of lectures to watch, and then there are videos and articles in the lessons that you also have to read/watch DURING your assignment. Syllabus that was used was also not for the correct class, plagarism is rampant with this professor!
Prior to class, you have to watch hour-long lecture videos and answer questions while you do it. Then you get to lecture, and she repeats the same thing. She assumes that everyone taking the course is a nursing or dietetics major, so she will fly through content because she assumes everyone already knows it. Make sure to attend LA study sessions.
She is a really good professor and I learned a lot from her class. Any time I had questions she was available and gave us plenty opportunities to succeed. It was a hard class, but when you put in work to study it is easy to understand. She was in depth in her presentations and knew what she was talking about. I'm really glad I took this class.
There are lots of grades so it is easy to get a good grade. She is always there to help.
She has 45-1 hour long videos before class about all the information, she expects you to watch and take notes on the videos and then just reviews the basics in class instead of teaching it herself. She's very lecture heavy and breezes through the slides, sometimes not posting the slides for you to follow along so you are rushing through everything.
Dr. Freeworth was a tough but good professor. She posted lectures, sometimes up to an hour, that had most of the info. In class, she would skim through the material, so be prepared to do outside studying. The tests were hard, but manageable. Had extra credit opportunities. If you ended with a 95%, you didn't have to take the final.
the course is ran terribly. she is so unorganized it actually effects your grade because she changes the course after every exam. she is so monotoned and is incredibly hard to listen to. stand clear of this class at all costs, worst taught class in my time at BGSU and I am a senior. chose a different BGP or any other professor.
there was a TON of outside work for this class and studying. go to study sessions and do the study guide! she curves tests and allows for extra credit and to exempt the final with a 95% or higher grade. be prepared to study once the tests come bc they're over many chapters and there's only 2 tests and then the final
Easy class, but so boring. Can't make up her mind.
Take this class if you enjoy taking graded quizzes on hour-long videos on the material before it's covered in class, being graded on the quality of your attendance, having a professor who changes how the class works every few weeks, being asked to restart exams from canvas issues, and having LAs who do nothing to help you understand the material.
Her class has changed in the recent semesters. You do not have a textbook so you watch lecture videos and answer questions during it that are not always answered in the video. Then you go to class with mandatory attendance and listen to the same lecture.
Communication could be better. There were constant issues with accessing materials via canvas. Grading took weeks to be returned. She was pretty responsive to emails but not messages via canvas.
lectures to much fast
You will either love or hate Staci. Very fast-paced in her lectures but they're not important for learning but more important for the in-class assignments. There's A LOT of studying to do. Instead of a textbook, she makes videos ranging from 20 minutes to an hour which usually took hours to take notes on. Go to review sessions. Exams are curved.
Dr. Freeworth is a super kind and caring professor. She cares about her students and wants them to do well in her class. She gives several extra credit opportunities throughout the semester and does review sessions before exams. She posts all her slides to canvas and is willing to help you when you need it, you just have to reach out.
Professor Freeworth is a funny and caring professor; you can tell she wants her students to succeed. Although her class can be a bit harder sometimes, it is still interesting to go to the lectures and listen to her talk because she knows a lot about nutrition. The lectures are important to listen to for the in-class assignments which are graded.
This class is a mixed bag - there's a lot of outside work, but the professor allows helpful study aids like Unstuckstudy to supplement the video lectures. Stay engaged, and you can earn a solid grade despite the challenges.
Lectures are incredibly boring. Attendance is mandatory but you get 3 free skip days. Seats are assigned which sucks but it can benefit to meet new people. There is an in-class assignment for every class, and they are due at the end of class. Prep work before every class is annoying, but the points add up. Tests are on the hard side. Not bad.
Required in-person attendance, in-class assignments each day. In-class assignments done in groups, groups randomized at beginning of sem. Homework is roughly 1 vid quiz before each class, and "prep work". Exams are in-person, lockdown browser. I did zero prep work HW and got a C. She will keep you past official end of class time every day.
Best professor on the whole campus! I can tell she puts a lot of time into her videos and class materials! Cares about her students and gives a lot of helpful tips.
Professor Freeworth cares about her students and is very knowledgeable. Be prepared for a decent amount of work: prep work that takes 15-30min and a video before each chapter (25-35min). There is also in-class participation (she drops the lowest 3 scores). Go to the study sessions for the exams and you'll do fine.
Professor Freeworths class is very course work and lecture heavy so be ready to put in a lot of time, with around 2-3 assignments for every class meeting. She has an LA program in her class; I was unlucky to receive a bad one so that didn't help at all. Assignments posted hours before they are due. Final exam exemption is available though.
I liked Staci, but she was always behind in the chapters, with our homework not matching up with what we were doing in class so it got confusing. Group work wasn't really helpful for me. It would take very long on our assignments from in class to be graded. Final exemption is offered which is nice
The lectures are extremely important. Thats where you will learn most of the information you will need for exams. There is lots of participation and group works you will do during class. All information is put clearly, and she grades lightly with lots of material so you will be fine. She is very kind and fun.
Her online class was extremely work intensive for a 2000 level class, with multiple assignments every week that had lots of parts and requires lecture timestamps with every assignment. Would not recommend taking unless you like hours of busy work.
Dr. Freeworth is very nice, but the exams kinda suck. There's an exemption for the final, but unless you have a good LA, it feels like walking into the exam blind. I studied everything and anything in the first exam and received a 97, but on the second i shouldn't have even bothered studying anything but minerals and vitamins & their deficits (81%)
I would not take this class again if my life depended on it. Teaches assuming you have knowledge of "health trends" I had NEVER heard of, doesn't engage you at all, TONS of homework that is posted day of, way behind on grading, canvas is organized differently for every chapter, study files are missing. Just laughably bad. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A BGP!
She was kind but extremely lecture-heavy, and it was just not a fun class. The prep-work was extremely tedious, and so was the groupwork. I would recommend taking a different class for a BGP. The exams were also pretty hard, and I feel like the questions didn't match the material.
Her grading felt inconsistent at times, but I still ended up with an A.
